Is it worth buying a PS3 if you already own an Xbox 360 (or vice versa)?

So my 18th is coming up in a month or so- my thinking was it would be a good idea to get a PS3, but as i already own an Xbox 360, is it worth it? if you already own a PS3, i would highly recommend getting an Xbox purely for Halo, Gears of War and Fable 3.

so what are your thoughts?
