It's about minecraft..

I have a linux computer, I decided to download the minecraft.jar and it turns out...it only opened to it's files. It didn't open to the launcher it just showed me it's files. Here's the folders:
(Com)
(joptsimple)
(LZMA)
(META-INF)
(net)
Favicon.png(minecraft icon picture )
Before you say anything, I've tried EVERYTHING. Every day I'm finding a way, but it gets me no where. If anyone had a similar experience like this, if you've fixed it please let me know how.

Install a JRE runtime and use that to run Minecraft.

Then you should probably ask on an actual Minecraft site - as a Pokémon site, we're not really the right place to ask very specific technical questions about a very specific, little-used platform. Sorry!

Oh, Where'd you download it from? If you didn't download it from minecraft.net, than it won't work.
The real launcher is at minecraft.net, so, just go there if you haven't.
But if you did, I don't know.
