Johto: Travel and Battle

Dakota was in the forest with her pokemon. They were all out and playing. She leaned against the tree and hummed softly. The red-head just left Violet City, she didn't know where she was going next. But she didn't care, her journey isn't to battle gym leaders, it was to travel the different regions, starting with her home region, Johto. She's visited her father several times in Kanto so she has a few pokemon from there.

"Alright guys!" She pushed off the tree and clapped her hands together, getting her six pokemons' attention. "Time to train," she said and her Togepi ran to her. She smiled at her newly hatched pokemon and picked him up. The rest of her pokemon got in a line. Starting from Typhlosion to Umbreon to Ninetails to Growlithe, and finally to Houndoom. The pokemon waited patiently for their trainer's orders.

"Typhlosion, lets test out one of you're new moves." Dakota said. The fire starter got excited and stepped out of line. She stood up on her hind legs and towered over her trainer, who wasn't phased. "Let me see Focus Punch on the tree behind me," she ordered, the red-head moved out of the way. She watched her pokemon focus on the tree, raising a fist. Then quickly slammed it agains the tree, making a dent in the trunk. Slightly tipping her head to the side, Dakota examined the dent. "If we practiced that move hard enough we should be able to make more than a dent in this tree," she murmured to herself.

Platinum, on the other hand, stood infront of his lined up pokemon as well. Except, this time, it was infront of 2000 people.

The Top Pokeathlete Star was participating in yet another Supreme Cup Pokeathelon Competition. Three other celebrities were participating in this competition - A Gym Leader from the Sinnoh Region, the Former Top Pokeathlete, and one other Gym Leader from the Kanto Region. Every second of this competition was being Televised and on the Radio all over Johto.

The competition would be based on 3 Categories - Speed, Power, and Skill. The rules were only 3 pokemon from your team could participate. Platinum smiled, this was one of the situations he was proud to have each pokemon be an expert at a certain category.
The Gym Leaders and Former Pokeathlete Star had their team lined up infront of them too. Each of the 4 contestants were deciding their 3 Pokemon.

Platinum stepped up, his Pokemon all looking at him with intent, eager eyes. Platinum chose, for the speed portion, his partner, Milotic. The crowd cheered, although they all expected it. The other 3 participants chose their speed pokemon as well. For the second pokemon of Strength, Platinum chose his ever so large powerhouse, Mamoswine. Then the other participants chose. Finally, for the Skill portion, Platinum chose the final Pokemon, Alteria.

After all 4 of them chose, they stood infront of their Pokemon after returning the rest to their pokeballs and placing it in the holding container. The crowd went crazy with posters of their faces on them, and chanting their names.

The announcer then proclaimed through the microphone with his booming voice -

It was time for the Supreme Cup - to begin.

Dakota trained her pokemon hard. The red-head sighed and returned all of them except Umbreon who pressed up against her trainer's legs. Dakota checked her phone and realized that the Supreme Cup was starting. She put her phone away and began heading to where the competition was being held.

Umbreon walked beside her trainer, she yawned and looked up at Dakota. She wondered where they were going as they walked. When she saw multiple people gathered and raced to watch something. She tipped her head slightly and became more curious.

Dakota pushed her way through people, ignoring their angry and annoyed comments. The young girl sat down, Umbreon sat down in front of Dakota's feet. She stared at the people that were part of the competition. She sighed and put a leg over the other. Not like I have anything else to do, Dakota thought as she kept her eyes on the pokemon, she didn't care about the trainers, only the pokemon.

A row below Dakota, two girls stood in strange cheer uniforms, waving pink Pom Poms around. One of them jumped up an down and the passion in her face made it almost possible to see hearts in her eyes.

"EEEEEK!!! Platinum is such a CUUUTIEEEE!!!!" But the second girl quickly interjected.

"NO WAY!!! Steven is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Plus he's the original Pokeathelon star!!"

The two girls continued to cheer and argue over useless qualities of each of the 4 competitors.

--

Platinum waved to the large crowd as he stroked Milotic's side, while the Gym Leaders stretched, a bit too overdramatically, but the crowd loved it.

Each Competitor now wore certain colored shorts with matching sports jacket, each with their name on the back. Platinum's color was white.

The Announcer spoke once more through the speakers.

"IT IS NOW TIME FOR THE SPEED PORTION!!! Everyone give a hand forrrrr...." And he went on to announce the pairs.

Platinum and his Milotic, and the rest of the competitors with their Pokemon:
A Quilava - belonging to the Sinnoh Gym Leader, Dragonair - belonging to Steven the Former Top Pokeathlete, and Ariados - belonging to the Kanto Gym Leader.

Each of the celebrities stood behind their Pokemon at the starting line. The point was to have the 4 Pokemon race against eachother down the average race track, but to collect as many flags stuck in the ground as they could, as well as jump over hurdles.

The Announcer shot off the flare, and all 4 Pokemon were off, almost within blinking speed. Milotic and Dragonair were neck and neck in the lead, slithering incredibly fast. Milotic quickly picked whatever flags she saw. After they both had 8 laps around, 10 flags each, one flag was ahead of Dragonair and Miltotic.

"Quick Milotic! Ice Beam! And follow up wth quick attack!" Platinum called to his partner.

The majestic water type opened her mouth, ice shooting out infront of them and covering all sides of the track ground under them. Right before they came speeding up on the ice floor, Milotic took a large leap, gracefully spinning over the ice, leaving Dragonair and a couple of other of the Pokemon slipping and rolling over in loss of balance.

The crowd went insane screaming and cheering and the announcer explained the situation in a much more dramatic way. Milotic grabbed the final flag, and crossed the line on the final lap. The timer stopped - Milotic had finished the race in 95.7 seconds. The crowd continued to cheer as Platinum and Milotic were proclaimed first place, Steven and Dragonair second, and the gym leaders third and fourth.

Onto the next event.

Dakota rolled her eyes at the two girls. "Can you two shut up so I can pay attention and hear whats going on?!" She snapped at the two. Clearly annoyed, when she heard Milotic won she stared at it's trainer. Umbreon was already sleeping while sitting up. Dakota then murmured, "I wonder who will win next."

Zeypher stood before the Pokeathlon Dome, bewildered. He glanced down at his severely outdated map of the Johto region. The 15 year old shook his head.

"Johto sure has changed in a couple of years."

Zeypher traveled constantly, and always went out of his way to help a Pokemon in need. He had worked alongside the Pokemon Rangers so many times to save Pokemon, that they had actually made him an honorary member! He wasn't given assignments, but it was a kind gesture by the rangers. They had even given him a uniform, which happened to be what he was currently wearing, seeing as all his other clothes were charred, torn, and generally ruined by all of his rescues. Zeypher sighed.

"Might as well see what this thing is...."

He walked through the doors, revealing an empty waiting room, complete with what appeared to be a shop off to one side. Hearing more cheering from further within the building, Zeypher strode through a second set of doors to find himself among hundreds of cheering people.

Shorter than average, Zeypher was unable to clearly see what was going on. He slipped among the crowd, weaving between the fans, straining to get a view of whatever had these people so excited.

A battle perhaps? Zeypher thought to himself. After all, the only contests he had seen so far weren't nearly this exciting. Lost in thought, Zeypher did something very unlike himself. He tripped. He tripped and he fell, tumbling over a few rows, to land directly on top of a red-head and her Umbreon.

An Umbreon watched as another Umbreon pressed its side into a humans legs.

His rings glowed a bright white as he stepped out of the door way he was hiding in as he slowly made his way over to the girl Umbreon.

As he did so he watched as another human almost fell on top of the girl and her Umbreon.

He padded over to the Girl and the Umbreon shyly, his white rings glowing.

Dakota gasped at the sudden contact and leaped up letting the stranger fall. "What is wrong with you!" She glared, her green gaze seemed like it could have flames in them. She angrily put her hands on her hips and kept her gaze on him. Umbreon looked at the boy then at her trainer. Clearly confused.

Zeypher got up, rubbing his head. He turned around, about to explain, when he realized he had fallen on a girl. He had never been good with girls. No matter what the situation, girls turned Zeypher into a nervous wreck.

"I uh," He stammered, growing red in the cheeks, "well, I tripped? I guess? Are you okay?" Zeypher looked at the girl with concern, not realizing that his wrist was bent at an awkward, unnatural angle. He stood shakily, nearly losing his balance and falling instead of reaching out for something to steady himself, terrified that he might grab the girl again. Whatever happened he did not want to upset her more.

Dakota just gave him a glare and sat back down with a huff. The anti-social trainer had her hands into white fists. Umbreon rubbed her head against her trainer's pale legs. Trying relax her.

Dakota in the corner of her eye watched the stranger. Unsure of him. She sighed and played with a strand of her red hair, turning her gaze back onto the competition.

Again the little Umbreon tried to get the girls attention.

His white rings glowed even brighter now.

He eventually just walked up face to face with the other pokemon.

He licked her nose quickly and turned around ashamed...

He sat down and tail between his legs, and hung his head, awaiting the bite or harsh words of the human to cut him down.

Zeypher stood, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, wondering what he should do. He glanced for the first time at the competition.

Ugh, great. Poke Olympics. He shook his head. The things people came up with these days. Regardless, he didn't want to upset anyone else by disturbing them, keeping them from their competition. He began to wade back up through the crowd, when he realized that his backpack felt lighter than usual.

Zeypher swung his backpack to the ground and unzipped it, checking for the precious cargo it held. His face blanched. It was gone. The egg was gone.

Dakota looked at the Umbreon and shifted. "May I help you?" She questioned, still fuming. Her Umbreon looked up at the fellow eeveelution and tipped her head to the side curiously.

He just looked into her green eyes and smiled.

He then turned his attention to the Umbreon and winked while he flipped one of his ears side ways.

He barked quietly at the Umbreon then looked back up at Dakota's eyes and smiled again.

Zeypher began to panic. That egg was the last gift given to him on his fifteenth birthday by his mother, before she succumbed to the deadly unknown virus that had swept through Hoenn. He had to find it. Soon.

Zeypher glanced around, checking under seats, between rows, and even glanced inside the open bags of some oblivious fans. Then he spotted it. Under the red-head's seat. Zeypher sighed with exasperation, then resigned himself to the task at hand.

Zeypher nonchalantly moved into the row behind her, glancing about to see if anyone was watching. Everyone seemed to be entranced by the athletic event. As quietly as possible, Zeypher laid down on his stomach, scooching farther under her seat, reaching for the egg.

The Umbreon turned around only to find hands grabbing at his feet.

He used shadow ball as the pair of hands retreated back into the stands.

He barked at Dakota, and the the hands touched his leg.

He yelped as they grabbed and flailed as if looking for something.

Zeypher flinched as a small Shadow Ball narrowly missed his hands, drawing them back from under the seat. He peered under the seat spotting the egg just behind the girl's legs. He reached out again, searching blindly, hands coming across what felt like some old nachos, dried up gum, and a strange Umbreon's leg.

"Excuse me little buddy...." Zeypher muttered as he gently pushed the Umbreon out of the way.

He continued to strain, fingers just touching the egg's surface, but unable to get a solid grip on it. He snatched at it franticly, even accidentally brushing the girl's legs a few times. He froze, hoping she didn't notice, then continued to reach for the egg.

That was all it took for Umbreon to feel threatened...

He pounced on the man behind the seat snarling, his fangs bared!

He pinned him down and barked wildly at Dakota, as if too say "I got the criminal!"

Dakota eyed the Umbreon before sensing something going on behind her. She looked over her shoulder and stared at the same boy that fell on her. "What are you doing?" She hissed between gritted teeth.

Umbreon felt herself heat up and she looked away shyly.

Umbreons rings glowed proudly as he quickly restrained the struggling teenager.

He looked at the other Umbreon and saw that she was blushing slightly...

He fell quiet and trained his gaze on what seemed to be an egg...

He got off the teenager and crawled under the bench to grab the egg.

He managed to roll it over to the teen and sat down in front of him and nudged it towards him.

Zeypher's face grew red, embarrassed that he was caught. He took a deep breath and looked the girl in the eye.

"T-That egg. Under your chair. It's mine." He cursed himself for stuttering, but continued to maintain eye contact with the girl. "Please, it's very important to me."

He searched her face, eyes pleading for help, eyes darting to the Umbreon that attacked him, terrified to move at all in case it went after him again.

The Umbreon growled softy in Zeyphers ear.

He slowly let the teen go and staggered back to Dakota's Umbreon and sat back down beside her.

As he did so he yawned tiredly and his eyes fluttered every 30 senconds or so, as he was trying to stay awake.

Zeypher shakily reached for the egg, picking it up gingerly to check it for cracks. Satisfied that the egg was safe, he put it back into his backpack, wrapping it in one of his ruined sweatshirts, then zipped the bag.

"There....." Zeypher looked back to the red-head. "I'm terribly sorry for disturbing you again. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?"

Dakota gave a huff and turned around. "Just ask next time and not make yourself look like your trying to steal," she grumbled and crossed a leg over each other. She trained her eyes back on the competition trying to block everyone out.

Zeypher sighed, still feeling bad about bothering her so much. He was about to apologize again, but thought better of it, as she seemed intent to watch the competition.

Having no real interest in this weird event, Zeypher made his way back to the door, careful not to lose his egg again. Once outside the dome, he breathed a sigh of relief.

"Never again." He muttered shaking his head. He pulled the egg out of his pack, and patted it. "Nearly lost you forever....." With a sigh, Zeypher carefully set the egg back into its makeshift nest in his backpack, making sure it was nice and snug.

He walked over to sit on a park bench, and waited for the event to finish. Something about that girl's eyes and the fiery look she gave Zeypher........intrigued him.

(( OOC: oh my god my alerts are broken, I'm so sorry for the inactiveness >=O;_; ))

As the chaos in the stands went on, many fans rudely spat out insults and harsh words to the group of people and pokemon falling and creating amuck over an egg.

Meanwhile the skill portion had just ended - the goal being to quickly maneuver a large golden ball into each of the opposing pokemons ' goals. Platinum had chosen Alteria for the skill portion of the Supreme Cup, and the dragon type sure put up a hard fight, but Platinum had ended up in 2nd place with 4 Points, while the Sinnoh Gym Leader's Machoke won first with 6 Points - very impressive compared to the average goals score on the event.

The last - and final portion was about to begin, shortly after the 4 stars took a break, sitting as fans ran from the stands and approached them for pictures and autographs. Platinum was panting heavily from the past two events, and really just wanted to relax for the 15 minutes he had, but tried not to mind the attention and work he had to do even during the break, as well as the other three contestants, but kept a smile on his face through it all.

Dakota kept a eye on Platinum and his pokemon but also an eye on the Sinnoh Gym Leader and their pokemon. As a break mostly got rid of everybody the red-head stretched out her arms and yawned. She nudged her Umbreon with her foot before standing up and heading out of the area. She found a stand and asked for two waters. Umbreon stayed by her feet the whole time. Dakota paid for the drinks and went over to a tree, she sat down and drank from one of the bottles. She gave Umbreon some water too.

He tried to follow but was blocked by a door.

He whimpered quietly as he sat up against the door.

He turned around only to find the Raichu he had made very mad earlier.

A loud crash could be heard as Raichu tackled Umbreon out of a window.

Umbreon managed to hit the Raichu with a ShadowBall, but the Raichu just got up and shot more electricity all over the place.

Waking up after dozing off on the park bench, Zeypher woke up, bored out of his mind. He looked around, before spotting a small fountain, then set off towards it.

"If I'm going to wait out here, might as well give you guys some air, huh?" Zeypher unclipped his three Pokeballs from his belt, then tossed them up into the air, popping open with bright flashes of light. An instant later, Zeypher stood before his current team.

His Eevee, Milo, bounded up to him, leaping into Zeypher's arms, where he curled up, happy to get time to spend with his master. Meanwhile, Riko, Zeypher's Sceptile, leaned against the fountain, cooly surveying the area. Finally, with a large splash in the fountain, his Seadra, Amadine, made her presence known by happily blowing bubbles into the sky.

Zeypher sat down on the fountain's edge, Milo curled up in his lap, and waited.

Dakota let out her Togepi. Who ran to her. She gave a slight smile and wrapped her arms around the small pokemon. She put him in her lap and hummed softly. Umbreon laid down next to her.

Umbreon's red eyes searched the area, she spotted the boy that had fallen on her trainer before and watched him with his pokemon before getting bored and laying her head down. She sighed softly and closed her eyes.

While Zeypher was working with Riko on his Leaf Blade, Milo explored the area.On his venture he viciously attacked and defeated three flowers and a bush. Content that he had seized the area, Milo began to proudly trot back to Zeypher, when he caught sight of an Umbreon sleeping near a tree.

Curious, Milo catiously snuck closer, peering at the Umbreon from within some tall grass. He crawled closer, until he was practically face to face with the Umbreon.

Dakota didn't notice Milo. She was talking and playing with Togepi. Feeling breath on her face, Umbreon slowly opened her eyes just to see Milo in her face. She blinked again, wondering if she was still dreaming. "Umbre..." she mumbled as she raised her head and tipped her head to the side curiously.

Milo, delighted that she woke up, smiled and playfully licked her nose. He batted at her playfully with his paws, rolling over onto his back, then leaping up again. He was so excited, that he began to race around the tree at full speed.

Dakota noticed Milo and quickly wrapped her arms protectively around her baby pokemon. Umbreon leaped to her paws and was shocked at his speed. She then smirked playfully and began to chase the smaller pokemon.

Milo squealed with joy when he noticed the Umbreon chasing him. He began to weave between trees, darting to and fro. He ran as hard and fast as his little paws could manage. He glanced back at the Umbreon, smiling, glad to have found a friend. When he turned back to look where he was going, he ran straight into a tree with a loud THUD.

Dakota flinched at the noise and looked over at them. "Umbreon is he okay?" She questioned. Umbreon shrugged then went over to Milo and softly prodded him with a black paw. "Um! Umbreon," she talked quietly.

Milo stumbled to his feet, dizzy, and struggling to keep his balance. He winced at the sharp pain from his head. Blood was dripping down the left side of his head. "Veee......" He began to stumble his way back towards Zeypher, but hardly got five feet away from the tree before he crumpled to the ground, blacking out.

Umbreon began to panic. "Um! Ummm! Umbreon! Bre!!" She yelled at Dakota. The red-haired trainer returned Togepi and jogged over to Umbreon and Milo. "Oh dear," she mumbled before picking the brown pokemon off and jogging off to the pokemon center. The dark eeveelution hot on her heels.

Zeypher watched as the girl from earlier jogged past holding what looked like an Eevee. He shrugged, tired, then glanced around.

"Hey, where's Milo?"

Riko smacked Zeypher in the back of the head, the pointed with urgency in the direction the girl had jogged off in.

"Oh, fuck......" Zeypher returned Riko and Amadine to their respective Pokeballs, then sprinted off to catch up to the girl.

Dakota gave Nurse Joy the eevee. She leaned against the counter, wondering if the pokemon stranger had a trainer. Umbreon leaped on her back legs, trying to see what they were doing with Milo. She began to feel guilty because she was the one chasing the eevee. The dark eeveelution sighed and rested her chin on the counter.
