If Riley would've had something in his throat when Drew asked him that question, he would've started choking.
'This is getting personal too fast.' Riley thought too himself as tried to figure out how to answer
that question.
For other people, this question would come with a simple answer. However, for Riley, this question was very hard too answer. For him, it was an awkward feeling, especially since he didn't have a family.
Atleast not anymore.
He could remember back in trainer school. His teacher had assigned the class a project. It was too compare each of your family members too a Pokemon. Well, it's probably hard too imagine what a ten year old in that situation would do. Riley though, he was smarter than an average ten year old (Atleast he thought he was). It was only a few administrators who knew about Riley's situation. They gave him a fake last name too use in school, mainly for exams. Not even his teachers knew, which gave Riley his idea. He did what any kid his age wanted to do.
If no one knew Riley before the presentation, they sure as hell knew him after. For his 'father', Riley put Lance the champion, and compared him too a Dragonite of course. He put Karen as his 'mother' and compared her too an Umbreon. For any siblings, he put Bruno and compared him too a Machamp. For added bonus, he put Will as a distant cousin with Xatu as the Pokemon. Of course, the whole class was in shock. But these ten year olds were something else because other than the questioning about why he didn't have Lance's hair color, they actually believed him. That whole week he was considered a saint. The whole school had heard of the kid related to the champion and elite four. Everything was awesome until he recieved his grade. At first he thought the grade was a mistake until the teacher had a class announcement. She didn't directly say Riley's name but everyone knew who she was talking about. After that, he was known as the kid who got a '0, F' on a project because he thought that he could fool the teacher.
When Riley looked at Drew, he had no answer. But he had too say something too not make it awkward. "W-well you s-see." Riley stuttered out, mentally cursing himself afterwards. "Um, well, I got no family." Riley blankly stated. After a moment's thought about what he just said, he imagined having an Alakazam use a psychic technique to blow up his brain. "No! I didn't mean it like that! I meant to say I have no family." Riley exclaimed as he stood trying to correct his mistake, inadvertently causing some people around them too look at him. Even that didn't sound right too him. Riley took a glance around and saw the other customers looking at him. He immediately sat back down, mentally kicking himself.
'Why the fuck do I have too make this so awkward?' Riley thought too himself.
