Drew cracked his neck as he walked into the Paleborn city pokemon center. Today was the day. From his training in Seto and his work in the Kanto region he and Poli were ready to take on the League tournament. He smiled a little bit as he put in his information before walking out. He saw a bench near by and decided that He should sit in it allowing him to watch as other trainers went in and registered. They might be able to give him an idea of what he would be up against. He released Poli the Poliwrath as they both sat down and watched.

"Aaaaaand, done" Will sighed as he finished writing his information on the sign-up sheet, "look around us, guys. We're finally here!"
"Blast! Blastoise! (I still can't believe we actually did it)"
"Pidgeot Pid! (Oh come on, don't be such a bummer)"
"Blaaaast! (For once I actually try to be positive!)"
"Karp Karp (Both of you, just shut up)"

Not understanding his Pokémon but still chuckling at the obvious argument, Will sat down on the bench next to Drew.

After finishing up his last bit of training, which seemed like forever, Zack walked up to the nurse joy working at the center and healed up his pokemon. Afterwards he filled out his information for his registration, and then sent out all his pokemon.
"Ok, head count, Torch, Speedster, Surfer, Lance, Foliage, and Boulder. Everyone's here. Ok guys, you go out and get ready for our first battle. With luck, we can make it to the next round" He told his pokemon as he stretched and then sat down on a couch in the middle of the room.

Drew looked over and saw the man sitting next to him. " Hello there." He said as he turned to look at the man. "I'm Drew it's nice to meet you." he said.

"Last name... What if I don't know mine?" Riley murmured too himself as he looked at the sign-sheet. "Who cares anyway. When I become the champion, the only thing people will know me by is Riley!" Riley stated as he went on too fill the rest of the sheet out.

A grin emerged on his face as he imagined the crowds chanting his name. He nearly jumped when he was caught daydreaming as the person behind tapped his shoulder after he spent what felt like an eternity signing up. "Oh shit! Sorry." Riley told the person behind him, rubbing the back of his neck as he was embarrassed. He caught some of the looks of the other trainers, but he decided to ignore them. The only thing he was there for was too win, so he didn't care what people thought of him.

As he was walking, he noticed a few trainers by the bench. He had seen them in the line to sign up which near they must also be entering the tournament. 'Idiots. What fools show off their Pokemon before the tournament even begins.' Riley thought to himself as he looked at the trainers with a look of disapproval. He decided to walk away and not bother himself with those trainers. Instead, Riley decided to head off to a steak joint nearby.

Drew caught sight of a guy walking past them. He looked at his partner then back at the guy. " I don't know Poli." He said. " But I have the feeling we'll be seeing more of him." He said as he stood up. " Well sir it's been nice meeting you. See you in the tournament." He said before walking off. He needed to find a place to train.

Zack caught up with his pokemon on the training field, and saw what they were up too.
Torch (Charizard) and Lance (Dragonite) were racing through the sky,
Surfer (Poliwrath) and Boulder (Golem) were exchanging blows to each other.
Speedster (Jolteon) and Foliage (Victreebel) were testing their reflexes.
Zack really had trained them well, so he was hoping it would be enough. As he always did, he jumped into the training session, because he doesn't like the fact his pokemon have to train themselves. He first tried out running Torch and Lance, then jumped into the fight with Boulder and Surfer, dodging weaving and getting light hits in. They hurt Surfer more, seeing as Boulder was made of rock. Finally he jumped, rolled, and flipped around dodging vine whips and swifts. Then he left them alone, put in headphones to listen to his music, and started doing his own training on a punching bag, punching and kicking as if the bag was someone from an evil gang, or even an evil pokemon that hurt his pokemon. Zack would do anything to protect them, and help them get better

"Check out the competition, Buzz," said Dex as he stood outside the Pokémon Center watching trainers come and go, "Looks like these guys are tough."

"Buzz!" the Electabuzz, right by Dex's side, mimicked his trainer's wide stance and folded arms. The sounds of various explosions, trainers yelling, punches landing and Pokémon cries echoed all around them.

"Welp! Time to warm up!" Dex proclaimed. He pulled a small device from his pocket, clicked a button on its face and set it on the ground. A hip-hop beat started to play. In sync with the music, Dex and Buzz began freestyle dancing.

Apparently this joint was popular because as soon as Riley walked in, he found himself already in line. The place wasn't huge, but it wasn't small for that matter. It could hold about 50-75 people.

About ten minutes later, Riley found himself in front of the line. "Table for one I presume." The waitress at the register stated. "What would you like?" The waitress asked. Riley looked at the menu above and immediately found what he wanted. He gave his order and the waitress assigned him his seat. Riley leaned back in his seat and decided to relax while he waited.

Drew walked around the city. He stopped infront of a resteruant. He started to move again until his stomach started to growl. He let out a faint curse and walked in. The place was crowded. " Table for one." He said to the waitress. She nodded and escorted him to a table. He sat down and looked over to see the boy from earlier sitting there. "You know it's never good to eat alone." He said as he gently moved the chair in front of him so someone could sit down. " Care to join?"

Zack finished up his training by knocking down a punching bag, and returned all his pokemon. After all that he was really hungry. And his pokemon probably were too. So he decided to head over to the buffet that looked good. As soon as he walked in, he could immediately smell the pizza, noodles, desserts, fruit, and a bunch of other amazing foods. Zack rushed over to the tables, and got two plates full of food.
"Mine as well eat as much as I can before the tournament gets underway!" He suggested to himself, sitting down at an empty table. He threw out Speedster and Surfer, since they were the only pokemon who could fit in the seats. He had to be sure to save some for the rest of the team or it wouldn't be fair for them. And with that, him and his two pokemon starting chowing down on their food happily, with determination for the first round.

Riley looked at Drew and shrugged. "I don't care. Do what you like." Riley told Drew as the waitress finally brought his food over. "You know, it isn't smart for challengers to be showing off their Pokemon in front of other competitors. For example, I have already figured out a few ways to take down your Poliwrath." Riley told Drew before taking a bite of his steak.

" Trust me." He said. " Me and Poli plan for everything." he said as he looked at the man. " So is this your first tournament?" He asked.

"Well you're not prepared for me." Riley responded with a smug look on his face. "Yeah, it's my first time actually competing. I've been watching the other tournaments but I think know is the time for me too take over the league. What about you?" Riley asked, taking another bite of his steak.

" This is my first tournament but I've completed Kanto and the Seto league." He said as he looked at the man. " I'm prepared for this." He said with a smirk on his face. " I make sure I know what I'm getting myself into." He raised his glass. "May the best trainer win."

After his dance warm-up, Dex had decided to follow a few other trainers who seemed to know their way around. Eventually he came to a restaurant, the smells inside were too good to resist.

"Hey, you guys got pasta?" He asked as he marched in the front door, Buzz close behind mimicking his every move. While he waited for a waitress to help him, Dex overheard several other trainers talking about the tournament.

Riley grinned at Drew's statement and put his glass up as well. "The best trainer is going to win." Riley stated before taking a sip from the glass. "By the way, we haven't formally introduced ourselves. My name is Riley." He said.

With no available servers to be seen, Dex didn't feel like waiting around. "Let's go to that food stand down the street instead, okay Buzz? I'd much rather sit in the park and eat with the whole team." He turned on his heels and whistled as he walked out the door. There was luckily no line at the food stand. Dex bought a large noodle bowl and some rice balls to share with his team.

Zack finished his two plates of dinner faster than the average human being, and waited for his check to come out. Meanwhile, he told Surfer he would be leading in the first round. The Poliwrath was joyed, and through his excitement knocked over his and Speedster's food. Then Speedster gave Surfer a look of anger, as if to say, I swear I will Thunder Bolt you right now!
"Hey, calm down Speedster it's alright, I'll clean it up." Zack reassured his pokemon as he got on the ground to pick up all the spilled food. What a mess, Zack thought to himself, as he picked up some berries.
"If this luck keeps up, i'm not making it passed the first round!" He muttered to himself.

Layla took a long breath of fresh air as she finally stepped off the bus jam-packed with like minded tournament contenders and fans a like. Paleborn city was just as chaotic as the last tournament. She wasn't sure if she should be here after losing in the first round 6 months ago but she felt she owed the chance to her team. Waiting in line for registration was all too familiar, it still moves at a slowpoke pace. As if to make her feel even more out of place she hasn't seen another girl since she got on the bus. She can occasionally catch guys glances just as they look away, seems like she really is out of place. "I'm not going home this time. This time has to be different. I just have to win one round."

Finally leaving the registration building she was glad that was all squared away so she can start worrying about the battles. Her main problem that she hates to admit is her unorthodox team. It was kind of the laughing stock of the first round last tournament. She thought long and hard about her team compared to everyone else's better balanced team for several minutes while she strolled around town. She came to the same conclusion she always does. I don't care about everyone's charizards, or alakazams. This is my team, and even if we lose. We are still gonna have more fun. She smiled to herself entering the steak joint. Arriving later than most paid off as the line was pretty short. She ordered her food, walked past two guys and a poliwrath and sat down at the next table free. She set her backpack at her side put six pokeballs on the table and stared intensely, gears obviously turning in her head.

After finally cleaning the last of the food he made a mess of, Zack returned Speedster and Surfer. He paid his bill, and stepped outside into the cold night air. No matter the weather, Zack would fight through it. He sent out his pokemon, who took their turns having dinner, and got front row seats watching their master train. Zack punched and kicked at the punching bag, occasionally doing something fancy like a spin kick or a 360 flip, while punching in the air. He wasn't trying to do it to look cool, or get attention, but he liked adding fun into his training. His pokemon finished their food, and all came up with a plan. Since their master always mimicking their training, Zack's pokemon returned the favor, and started mimicking Zack's punches and kicks, without him even noticing. They continued to train through the cold, which was fine to everyone, and if they got hungry, they could always go to the steak joint which was right next to the training area.

The sign-out sheet was in Carter's grasp, nearly completed. When he finally finished filling it out, he proceeded to ready his Pokemon, by any means necessary. He headed out to the training grounds, where he had saw other trainers there, but he shrugged. He shuffled around in his parcel, then grabbed his Pokemon, Marowak, who was his primary Pokemon. Carter wanted to perfect his strength. And as mentioned before, by any means necessary.

Carter braced for impact, as his Marowak charged towards him. The Pokemon clashed into Carter, causing him to be flown backwards, stunned by the impact. Carter fell on his butt, rubbing his head. He had gotten back up, then trotted over to his Pokemon, and gave him a pat on the shoulder. "That was way better than last time!" he exclaimed, his left arm was bruised, but he hadn't minded. Carter returned to tend to his other Pokemon, that had been a little off on certain things. "We're gonna smoke'em this time." Carter smirked, then continued to assist his fellow Pokemon.

Born and raised in Viridian." He said. as he took a sip of his drink. He looked at the man. " so how's your family like?" He asked him as he smiled at him.

If Riley would've had something in his throat when Drew asked him that question, he would've started choking. 'This is getting personal too fast.' Riley thought too himself as tried to figure out how to answer that question.

For other people, this question would come with a simple answer. However, for Riley, this question was very hard too answer. For him, it was an awkward feeling, especially since he didn't have a family. Atleast not anymore.

He could remember back in trainer school. His teacher had assigned the class a project. It was too compare each of your family members too a Pokemon. Well, it's probably hard too imagine what a ten year old in that situation would do. Riley though, he was smarter than an average ten year old (Atleast he thought he was). It was only a few administrators who knew about Riley's situation. They gave him a fake last name too use in school, mainly for exams. Not even his teachers knew, which gave Riley his idea. He did what any kid his age wanted to do.

If no one knew Riley before the presentation, they sure as hell knew him after. For his 'father', Riley put Lance the champion, and compared him too a Dragonite of course. He put Karen as his 'mother' and compared her too an Umbreon. For any siblings, he put Bruno and compared him too a Machamp. For added bonus, he put Will as a distant cousin with Xatu as the Pokemon. Of course, the whole class was in shock. But these ten year olds were something else because other than the questioning about why he didn't have Lance's hair color, they actually believed him. That whole week he was considered a saint. The whole school had heard of the kid related to the champion and elite four. Everything was awesome until he recieved his grade. At first he thought the grade was a mistake until the teacher had a class announcement. She didn't directly say Riley's name but everyone knew who she was talking about. After that, he was known as the kid who got a '0, F' on a project because he thought that he could fool the teacher.

When Riley looked at Drew, he had no answer. But he had too say something too not make it awkward. "W-well you s-see." Riley stuttered out, mentally cursing himself afterwards. "Um, well, I got no family." Riley blankly stated. After a moment's thought about what he just said, he imagined having an Alakazam use a psychic technique to blow up his brain. "No! I didn't mean it like that! I meant to say I have no family." Riley exclaimed as he stood trying to correct his mistake, inadvertently causing some people around them too look at him. Even that didn't sound right too him. Riley took a glance around and saw the other customers looking at him. He immediately sat back down, mentally kicking himself. 'Why the fuck do I have too make this so awkward?' Riley thought too himself.

Jake Gazed At His Shiny Eevee Like Hes ill, He Thought He'd Never Enter The Kanto Leauge He Was Staring. All Of A Sudden,He Jolteon And Flareon Made Him Snap Out Of It! "Thanks You Two That Snapped me out of it!" He Was Still Down But Why Will We Ever Know Well more to come soon!

After having lunch with his team, Dex made his way to the stadium bleachers. All of his Pokémon were ready to go, waiting in their pokeballs.

"I'll just wait here. If I'm not in the first round then at least I'll get to watch it," he said as he sat with a wide stance and crossed arms on the first row of seats.

As Zack continued to train, even over his ear buds, he could hear a lot of commotion happening in the steak joint. After giving it some thought, he decided to head over to place, just to check things out. Besides, he probably had had enough training for one day, and he was already feeling hungry.
Zack entered the steak joint, and instead of actually ordering, decided to just stand and watch from the entrance, just to find out what was going on. He saw that all the attention was on two boys, and thought to himself, this'll be interesting.

As a man sitting nearby raised his voice about not having a family Layla snapped out of her tunnel vision on her pokeballs. She quickly surveyed the restaurant seeing it got busy again she wasn't very surprised her food wasn't out yet. The two guys next to her table were clearly having an awkward conversation so it didn't seem like the best time to try and make friends. All of tables were full at this point and with a few more people in line she was starting to feel bad hogging a table to herself. Well if someone needs a seat maybe I'll invite them over, or they can just stand. Finally a waitress brings her food out and she tries to take her mind off the tournament for a second and relax.

"Shit sorry for asking that." Drew said as he looked at him. During his earlier years his mother was nowhere to be found. Some say she went insane others say she was an addict of cocaine. His grand farther was barley around do to his job. " When I was younger I didn't think I had a family." He said as he looked at the man. " Poli... the Poliwrath you saw me with was the closet I had to family during my development years. Let's change the subject." He said. " Care to join me Riley." He said as he offered the man a seat. " It'll be easier to talk face to face instead of side ways." He said. He then looked and saw a woman who for a brief minute looked at them. " Your welcome to join too."

"It's okay." Riley said as he took his seat. "It just feels weird when someone asks that question and I have too tell them I don't have one. That makes things awkward you know. Besides, the only thing I can remember about my father is when he left me for dead. So he can go fuck himself for all I care." Riley told Drew before finishing the rest of his drink. "Anyways, when I win this tournament and then become champion, this stuff won't even bother me anymore." Riley calmly stated before looking at the woman Drew had just spoken too at the other table. However, his eyes quickly darted to the pokeballs on her table. 'Another trainer. She probably heard everything as well. I'm such a fool.' Riley thought too himself, mentally cursing himself for revealing so much information. Well it couldn't be helped and he could care less at this point. "So, um, are you a trainer?" Riley asked the woman, only realizing that the answer was obvious after he asked.

Zack must have missed the crazy part, because he didn't notice anything to intense going on.
"Well I'm here now, mine as well eat something, even though I did just eat a few hours ago, I'm already hungry after all that training." Zack told himself. He managed to get in front of the line just in time, because a second after, a big group of people came pouring in. He grabbed a small plate of food, since he wasn't very hungry, and had a seat where someone just left. While he ate his food, he wondered when his first round match would come up.
"As long as I'm not very first up, I'll be good. After this, I'll get some sleep, and see when i'm up tomorrow," Zack decided.

"If you win." Drew said with a smirk on his face. His hamburger appeared. " Don't expect me to be a push over." He said. His phone ringed. He took his phone out and saw the name on it. Chloe. " I'll reply to that latter." He said as he took another sip of his drink.

Layla whips her gaze back to the guys as they look her direction and invite her over. a little caught off guard she smiles sheepishly and starts putting pokeballs back in her bag. "Yeah, sure thanks!" Just as she is getting all her stuff together her elbow bumps one of her pokeballs off the table. It activates right as it hits the floor and a Farfetch'd appears waddling toward Layla and looking up inquisitively. "Oh crap, return!" She quickly grabs the pokeball and returns the farfetch'd to his ball. She gathered her bag and her food and sat down at their table her cheeks slightly red. Dammit I really didn't want anyone to see my Pokemon till the tournament. I can hear everyone now. 'A Farfetch'd? Are you drunk?' She was ready to take the ridicule but she was going to try to act like it didn't happen. She finally looks at the man who had a bit of an outburst earlier and realizes she didn't answer his question. "Yeah, I am.. So is this you're guys first time in the tournament?"

Zack noticed the farfetch'd that appeared on the ground, wondering who it belonged too. His question was immediately answered when a female trainer returned it, muttered to herself, and began talking to another trainer. That made Zack thought about the variety of pokemon he'd be facing in the tournament. Until this moment, he'd thought he would only be facing really powerful pokemon, but he never considered any others.
"I might want to rethink my battle strategy knowing trainers might be using more than just strong, fully evolved pokemon. Can't believe I overlooked that as a potential outcome..." Zack said, talking to himself, as he finished up his food. Zack left money on his table, then started heading out. While doing so however, he dropped his crimson ruby on the ground. It wasn't a Z-crystal, but rather a special item to Zack given by his old partner Hazel. Zack didn't notice this, and continued to exit the joint, and start heading to his hotel, it was getting late.

" A farfetch." Drew said as he looked at the pokemon. " Not a bad choice. if I remember correctly the last winner of the league tournament swept everyone with his farfetch. goes to show that you can't underestimate a pokemon." He said " I'm Drew Leuric." He said as he smiled at her. "It's a pleasure to meet you mam.

"Yeah, it's my first tournament." Riley replied to the woman. Truthfully, Riley mentally questioned how a Farfetch'd managed too help the winner of last year. "It must take a lot of skill to use a Farfetch'd correctly and win." Riley stated before realizing he was thinking out loud. "Uh, sorry! I didn't mean too say that aloud." Riley exclaimed, rubbing the back of his head. "But I guess every Pokemon takes some skill to use." Riley told Layla, trying to move on with his previous statement.

Then he spoke up to Drew. "Well I didn't say you were going to be a push over. I just said I was going to win. You should atleast give me a run for my money." Riley told him, full of confidence but some cockiness as well.

After losing so brutally in the first round last tournament, Layla didn't really believe the last champion used a farfatch'd but she wan't going to argue the point. "It must take a lot of skill to use a Farfetch'd and win" Layla rubs the back of her head and looks away as she recalls the many ways she has shouted "slash". "Uh, yeah.. something like that." She turns her attention back to Drew and decides to mock his formality. "I daresay 'tis a pleasure to make your acquaintance as well Sir Drew. Layla, at your service." She curtsies in her chair with a mischievous grin. Her eyes then go to a man dressed in orange and red leaving the restaurant, they quickly focus on the red object that seemed to have fallen out of his pocket. She tries to catch him but he was already out the door. Well.. I guess I can just try to find him when matches are starting up. Layla picks up the beautiful red gem, walked back to the table and put it in her backpack for now.
