Magpie, even if this was a request I could hug you for doing such a great job. I can not express how grateful I am that you took the time and energy to create this. To see my dream team come alive in artwork is just too awesome, especially with lineart, coloring, and shading as clean as yours ^__^

I don't know why, but I love the Snorlax most in that image. He's just so relaxed and happy... For such a simple Pokemon, you drew it adorably. And Steelix! The shading and cragginess killed me when I attempted to draw one, so I tip my hat to you. The Raichu almost looks like it's smirking... perfect for my Mischievous 'lil Semchu. I can easily stick personalities to the other images, too.

Heh. Thank you so much again. It looks awesome, and will have a happy home as my new laptop desktop image (which hasn't changed since the day I first booted this up early January '08) ^^

Man, I love Linky's teamshot. Snorlax is adorable, I love his little smile of contentment. Heracross's wings came out really great, and his expression came out cute as well. Ivysaur's expression is so cute, "SAUR!" ...Basically, expressions in this one came out great. XD

Love your team shots Magpie. They look so extraordinary. Especially how the poses and colour schemes. They look perfect.

Awesome. Simply Awesome.

Gah, Steelix. Thing's always a hassle to draw, especially the face D:< Yet here its features and characteristics are nicely retained. Loveable team shot there Silve. I as a fellow raichu lover find it too cute standing on a dormant Snorlax xD. Thy work is truly awesome, as soon as requests are open, I'd rather hope I can nab myself some of your wonderful art :D

Celadon

That team shot for Katie looks great.
Steelix looks superb. I agree with Hax, they are very tough to draw.

Raichu looks cute. (Isn't its hat missing...?)
Charizard looks ready to take off. Vaporeon is good, too.
Ivysaur, for the first time, looks cute. So congrats for that! ^^

Great Job.

Thanks everyone ^^

I'm glad you like it, Linkachu, I feel rather privileged to have drawn your Dream Team ^^

Raichu looks cute. (Isn't its hat missing...?)
Originally, I was going to add the Link hat, but I decided against it. I figured Linkachu just wanted her Pokemon team as they would be in-game ^^

A few things now:

For LoN, just for being great ~

LoN.png

Now, there isn't much I can really do pose-wise with Solrock... so I added Lunatone for good measure.

For Rayn ~

rayn.png

I'm loving the Surfer hair, Rayn XD
Now, obviously there may be some colour issues, since I had to guess on the shade of brown. Let me know if you want it darkening/lightening. Same with Rayn. I used your sprite as reference, but still, let me know if you'd like anything altering. I was sure Rayn's tail was brown, but as Linkachu will know I can be rather colour blind, so :p

For Buneary Boy ~

Again, sorry it was rather late *Grumbles*

C

Celadon

Lunatone and Solrock look so...divine XD The shading on them is great.
Rayn's team looks great, too, especially the shading on the three. I like the surfer hair, too =D

Buneary looks very cute!

Great job!

Call me strange (this is not an excuse to call me strange), but I'm about to squee over some floating rocks.

SQUEEEEEE :D I love them! Thanks a lot for the gift, Magpie :)

I might even immortalise them in signature form now, maybe. :o

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I loves them! :D :D :D
And so on. The brown looks really nice, I'm lovin' it. It looks cooler than I imagined. Rayn's battle pose is swicked, I always hate seeing Espeons just kind of staring at something or whatever. And Feraligatr's surfer hair came out real nice.
EEEEeeee............

Very impressive. Love your newest work Magpie. Your colouring is amazing. And how you drew them in their poses, even sweeter. Nice job.

You do some great team shots! Ive been trying to do some pictures but they just turn out wrong everytime! It makes me so mad lol. Keep it up :D

Meant to comment about this earlier XD

Originally, I was going to add the Link hat, but I decided against it. I figured Linkachu just wanted her Pokemon team as they would be in-game ^^

Magpie would be correct. While Alex took the route of sticking Linkachu into my signature - which is pretty cool and makes sense persona-wise - I wanted a proper team shot for Magpie's pic, so I approve of the direction she went. 7 of those 8 Pokemon - Lucario obviously not included - have been part of my imaginary "dream team" for countless years, and that means Raichu, not Linkachu. And yeah, as Magpie noted, I finally made this team last year in-game, so that makes Raichu in place of Linkachu even more purposeful ^^

I also laughed when I read Jeydis' reply to the pic, because it's true - I do have some huge Pokemon. I think one of the major aspects that draws me to Onix/Steelix is their size... I've always had a thing for gigantic creatures, and I can just image ridding on top of my Steelix's head...

But enough of my rambling clogging Magpie's thread. I love your latest pictures, Magpie, especially Rayn's trio. The varying colors and styles (like Flygon's color choices and mohawk Feraligatr) are nifty, and Rayn itself came out pretty cool. Nice pose and coloring/shading on it. I've always enjoyed its design from the sprites of it I've seen and Rayn's signature. ^^

Looking forward to the next, Magpie :)

Thanks everyone, for the lovely comments ^^

I doubt they'll be anything new for a while, because today my Mac decided Photoshop and itself can't work together. It just crashes after loading, every time. Apparently my version of Photoshop "has compatibility problems with Leopard"... thanks for telling me that after I installed it

Well, if Photoshop is broken then I'll just have to paint ^^;

RX.gif

Requested by RX, just before Photoshop was murdered. I know the lineart/colours aren't as clean as when they're done on the computer, so needless to say if Photoshop revives I'll redo this there. However, for now I'm quite pleased with this.

And yes, this is a photo of the painting, because if you'd seen what my scanner did to it... well lets just say it looked horrid.
So again, sorry this isn't as clean as usual RX, but It'll be the first thing I do if Photoshop lives again.

Just as a couple of extras, we have the making of the picture ~

The original sketch complete with other pose options, and Poochyena almost complete. I must say, I never really bothered with Poochyena...but I loves him now. So much

Ahhhhh, you're so good at painting!

I'm taking painting this semester... It's so hard, I have no idea how you do it. I am very impressed, they all look great. I'm not a huge Buizel fan, but I think yours looks great. :D

I love the shading on all of Buizel.

=0
...

You make me want to take up painting again. xD I think I shall...>>;

Not clean my butt, that's gorgeous.

I will have to agree with the others. Photoshop breaking for you is bad, and bad for us too. But the good side for us now is that we can see your painting prowess.

So, the painting itself looks awesome. And in agreement with Sami, the lineart and colours look fantastic. Superb job.

That looks real nice Silver Magpie =D
I like how the colors look close to official, and how you put some shading on it.

As for the messy lines, there aren't many there, so good job ^^

Hah. I wouldn't even have noticed it was painted if you hadn't shown that 3rd image. Amazing. I love seeing things colored in the traditional ways, and I agree with what others have stated above. Your painting looks very clean to me. No real noticeable splotches going over lines and whatnot (which is what I consider 'unclean' unless intended to be abstract, lol). Really cool, Magpie :)

Riolu looks all stoic, and Buizel's a badass. As for Poochyena... I like it, too. Even if it is one of the 'early' Pokemon, I always loved its official artwork. Made the thing look adorable. XD

Virgil ~ You get to take Painting? Meh, I'd have loved to have taken it at school, but I had to do Spanish instead.
I suck at languages

:O

Did you color this with paint again? Because the color of blue you chose for the shield/sword is so vibrant and pretty. Even with the quality loss from the scanner, I still love the coloring/shading on this guy overall ^^

I see what you mean by the face, but worry not, Magpie. I adore it! Thank you very much for the gift art ^_^ *Huggles it* x3

I considered covering the head a little, but the shield looked better at that angle.

And yus, my wonderful watercolours were used again, the shield is my deepest blue, with an increased amount of white mixed in the closer it gets to the near edge. I'm glad you like it ^^

It's been ages since I've drawn a Dragon...

dragon.png

Here be an Air Dragon, in all it's yellow glory. I occasionally dream about this guy, so I felt it was time he got some attention. A couple of pencil marks are still present... I never mastered sketching lightly with the pencil XD

Aside from the odd little mistake, I likes him. The little symbol is the Chinese symbol for hope (So the internet tells me, anyway).

Linkachu FTW. The blues on that pic are reealy purty. Well, in efforts not to be repetitive with Shado and Linky, just pretend that I basically what said they said too. ^^;

Chibi's avatar basically shows what happened to my brain when I saw that dragon. He's so cool, and the scales on him look fantastic. I'm not good at sketching lightly either, but I can't really see the rogue pencil marks... I wish that he'd come to me in my dreams...

That dragon... is frelling adorable. I love how you did the face - the forehead gem and the multi-colored mane. The mouth being slightly open like that, the angle of the eyes, and big white eyebrows seem full of personality, too. The scutes on the claws/feet are also a fun touch. I typically like European-style dragons more than the Asian variety, but this guy would be an exception.

You'll need to say in every pic if you've colored with paints, otherwise I won't believe it XD I'll accept it soon, I promise! It's just all so clean... The way you did the background splotches really accents the pic. This turned out great imo :)

Drawing a creature from your dreams... It's awesome that you have the ability to do that.

Awesome painting of the dragon and Linkachu. They look so nice.

Really like the background for the dragon painting. It looks so gorgeous and really compliments the dragon.

Swell job Magpie.

Shiny Motley

HOLY CRUD! IT LOOKS SO, SO...

ASIAN!!!!! *dies*

Anyways, that symbol by itself means "look" or "see" (usually for things far away, if that makes any sense...), but if you add another character, then it becomes hope. But by itself? Look or see. XD

Other than that, the dragon itself is, like, awesome. It's better than a lot of regular Chinese ones I see, but that's because the Chinese ones seem waaaaay too elaborate and stuffs. XD

Leg looks a bit off, but that's the only iffy thing to me. Background is really neat. And orange is one of my least favorite colors, but here it looks soooooo cool. Very nice, Magpie. ^^

About time I commented on your art thread... >>;

Sorry for taking this long to do it. XD

After running through the entire thread I was most impressed by your original works - that recent dragon is really REALLY nice, and so is the wolf thing from page 8. As for the PokéMon... You pull the art style nicely, but I, personally, am not a big fan of the Sugimori style - I think it will be interesting to see your own style on these critters too - but, yes. I cannot deny that you draw very well in this style.

On a side note, I frelling love that blue Breloom in page 7. ^____^

Magpie! I am speechless. Even with Photoshop down you still are able to create an amazing quality of art! I worship the ground you walk on!

The eyes of poochyena look weird and misplaced, the muzzel of riolu looks too long, but it is good ;)
You do realise that just outright criticism like that just makes you A) be ignored, B) come off as annoying, and C) doesn't make you a better person here.

It's just not nice. Yes, you might think that, but you don't just say it in that way.

Think about how much work goes into these pieces before you pick out the tiny little details you dislike, because its just not how it goes.

Magpie, I love both the PS'd version and the painted one. It's nice to see that people have both skills on the PC and away from it, we need more like you :)

Keep it up!

Thanks LoN ^^

*Hugs you*

Painting was my first love, that and pencil crayons. Me and Dad used to sit down for an hour every couple of days to draw when I was younger... good times.

The eyes of poochyena look weird and misplaced, the muzzel of riolu looks too long, but it is good ;)

LoN is right, I don't mind criticism, in fact I encourage it, but it is nice to also say what you liked about the image first to soften the blow and all :p

That said...

I can see what you mean about Poochy's eyes... they are a little wonky. Other than that though I think they look alright, so I'll just fix the wonky-ness. I also shortened Riolu's muzzle while I was at it, just in case. Only the best for RX after all ^_^

*Hugs Magpie

Oh that is just beautiful. I love how his flotation sac gives off a sheen and the ice is transluscent. I'd call this a grand success and was well-recieved in Photoshop despite all the computer problems. I am in thy debt, fair maiden

Oh I am very sorry for that, I didn't knew that you didn't like criticism. I really don't want to encourage you, you are really a good artist and I thought that you wanted to get better =(
I am very sorry if I was too harsh for you really.

(sorry for my english)

I do like the before and after pictures of the Buizel, Poochyena and Riolu, like when you painted them and then did it on photoshop ^^ I can't tell which I like better. I love how Buizel is using Ice Punch and of course the shading on everything ^^
