DPPt/HGSS New Character, New Team

I'm a bit obsessive compulsive about creating decent teams for any roleplay character or fan-fic character, and now that I've decided to make myself a male character, I need a team. I know nothing about EVs, and I can only assume with nature and movesets. I'm that bad.
So, here's what I've got thus far-

dpffa257.png

Kite
-There's a reason I don't make these sets myself.

dpffa461.png

Harvi
-I was working on the movesets from bottom to top, you see.

dpmfa065.png

Aisha
-I gave up on the third one.
-So my patience levels go from Jed to Vance to Dakota.
-Then to here, where I decided to do..
-Well, nothing.

dpmfa212.png

Dakota
-Brick Break
-Substitute/U-turn
-X-Scissor/FRIGG.
-I give up.

dpmfa130.png

Vance
-Thunderbolt/Flamethrower/Hydro Pump/Ice Beam NARRRRR.
-Dragon Dance
-Earthquake..
-screw this.

dpmfa286.png

Jed
-Sky Uppercut/Force Palm
-Stone Edge
-Energy Ball
-Rest..?

Aw hell.
...
I can only imagine how bad this must look Dx
YAY PROJECT FOR YOU.
And, just to add a bit more variety- Alakazam is not completely mandatory. Nor is Breloom. If you think a different poke would be better suited to either slot, please say so. And I tried to steer clear of the typical OUs; not that I would really know what they are. I failed by putting Weavile in there, but I love him D:

Also, as a super special bonus..
I need a pikachu. (I know :x )
A big, hard-hitter.
Not for a competetive team so much as a character in a fic who is supposed to be really kick-ass once she evolves. Meaning she'll only be a pikachu for the first fic she's in. Not that it would really effect anything but whateverr.
So, feel free to go crazy with the movesss. And, because outside of the games I don't think the strictly four-moves thing applies, there could probably be five of six moves on this 'mon. I think.
..
lose D:

EDIT: UHM. I just remembered- I have a porygon-z that I'd love to use in a team.
MmMMMmMM. Its got a timid nature.
Not sure what that'll get me, but whatevssss :'D

I know nothing about EVs, and I can only assume with nature and movesets. I'm that bad.
I'll try to help you out on those, I'm sure Ruko and Jet can help you with movesets, they're pro compared to me :p

EVs are what an opposing Pokémon gives yours in battle when you defeat it. What EV(s) you get depend on what Pokémon you defeat. For example, Wooper give 1 HP EV, whilst Gastly give 1 Sp Atk EV. When you get 4 EVs in a stat, that stat is raised by one. The maximum EVs you can have in a stat is 255 (but people only have up to 252 because 255 is not divisible by 4, and as such is a waste), and the maximum EVs you can have overall is 510.

Note that these aren't actually shown in text ingame, IE "You have gained 1 Attack EV" would not show up. You need to keep track of how many you have on paper.

Natures, they are the Adamant, Quirky, Serious things your Pokémon is randomly given. Some natures do nothing to stats at all, whilst others raise a stat by 10% and reduce another stat by 10%. (For example, Adamant increases your attack by 10% and reduces your special attack by 10% (I think :p) )

So, when you're doing move sets, you want to consider the Pokémons stats. Which are the highest stats that they have? As such, what moves would be more efficient to have on such a Pokémon? What stats would benefit in EV training the most for this Pokémon? What nature would also benefit this? And finally, what item would suit the Pokémon most?

So, lets run through your Alakazam, Aisha. For an example.

His highest stats are Speed and Special Attack, so that suggests you should use moves that use the Special Attack stat. Psychic and Shock Wave come to mind, for example.

That then suggests you should EV train him in Speed and Special Attack to make him even better at his job, and you should consider giving him an item that will benefit this as well.

Up to now, you have an Alakazam with moves like Psychic, and as such EVs and and item to benefit his high Speed and Special Attack stats. This suggests a nature that would be beneficial would raise the Speed or Special Attack, and lower his Attack (because he doesn't need this stat, because he has no moves that use his Attack stat).

Someone who's using a Blaziken over Infernape? :O

*Yes I went entirely competitive with EVs and everything even though this is for a Roleplay team XP
minus Life Orb, everything can still apply fairly well, right?

Blaziken@Life Orb
Lonely/Naughty Nature
Blaze Ability
-Fire Blast
-Sky Uppercut/Brick Break
-Earthquake/Night Slash/Rock Slide
-Agility

52 EVs in speed +4 for every point below 31 the speed IV is.
252 in special attack
204 in attack

A really risky set right here.. Send Blaziken out against something you either know you can live through an attack from [they have nothing Super-effective, or you can intimidate them into a switch]
Life Orb will whittle your health down, while giving you a nice power boost and hopefully activating Blaze before you're KO'd.

A slightly safer option for EVs would be this:
Lonely Nature
52 speed
252 special attack
144 attack
60 defense
For Naughty Nature, just switch the 60 over to special defense.

The 60 EVs in either defense completely makes up for the lost defense due to nature... if you're wondering why I didn't just suggest a neutral nature: Lonely drops defense by 15 points, but raises attack by 25. So essentially, you're getting 10 free attack points by cancelling out the defense lowered. Same for Naughty, except with special defense.

Blaziken@Life Orb
Adamant Nature
Blaze Ability
-Flare Blitz
-Brave Bird
-Reversal
-Agility

EVs
252 Attack
252 Speed

You don't -have- to use Agility for this blaziken to work, but if you end up facing anything faster, you're not likely to live through the attack XD
Reversal will get increasingly more powerful every attack, but since you really use it until your health is below 1/3, you won't get many uses from it XD

Reversal's power
100 - 68%   -- 20 power   [30 with STAB]
67 - 35%     -- 40 power   [60]
34 - 20%     -- 80 power   [120]
20 - 10%     --  100 power  [150]
10 - 5%      -- 150 power  [225]
5 - 0%        --   200 power [300]

*Keep in mind, Life orb drains 1/8 [12%] of your health every turn, so hitting for a full power reversal is not only suicide, but not entirely likely to happen... though 225 power is still nice XD

Overall, a life orb set is pure suicide, taking your own HP with you as you're using Brave Bird and Flare Blitz, and once your HP is below 1/3, Reversal will be decently powered, and growing more powerful due to life orb every time you use it... Flare Blitz will get a Blaze boost in addition to STAB and Life Orb, giving it a final power of 351.

Much more RPish set... since I can't fully tell if you're looking for competitive advice, or just movesets for an RP

Weavile
-Hail
-Ice Punch
-Night Slash
-Double Team

Not exactly the best RPer in the world... ^^;
But this almost mirrors a Sneasel I used in the first attempt at a pokemon RP I did..

Hail, Then claw onto some of it to power up an Ice Punch
Double Team through the hail could make for quite a bit of focusing issues, while Weavile is nimble enough to dodge through it.
Night Slash because it suits double team really well, and you wouldn't want Ice Punch for an only attack.

I really hope that doesn't sound too... eh.. I'm just not overly confident in RP skills ^^;

Thanks for that LoN, I'll keep that in mind when reading through the EVs required :3

And thank you Ruko, that's brilliant.
If anything, you don't need to worry about what moves would be best suited for roleplay, I can conform to most anything :B

And yes. I love my Blaziken and I'll be damned if he loses to a poop-flinging fire monkey >:V

Ruko, you realise that a pokemon in RP can use, within reason, any move? And isn't limited to 4 moves? :p

For an Alakazam moveset off the top of my head.

Alakazam @ Choice Specs/Expert Belt/Wide Lens
Modest/Timid
252 Sp Atk/252 Speed/6 HP

Psychic
Focus Blast
Energy Ball/Charge Beam/HP Dark/HP Fire (Or any anti-bug, Flying, Rock, etc)
Calm Mind/Recover/Attract/Toxic

Psychic for STAB, Focus Blast for Anti-Steel/Dark. Rest are filler, I like Charge Beam and Recover myself but hey. Shoved the status inducers in there because I like annoyers myself. Personal preference only :p

I'm sure Ruko or Jet will come in and tear that apart with their expert knowledge in the field too, but I like it :D

LoN, you have a signature for a reason. Don't add signature-like things, such as what you're listening to to the bottom of your post. It's no better than making your signature larger :p

In response to using any attacks, No, because I think too competitively and have only RPed once XD

Gyarados @ Electric weakening berry [can't remember the name]
Adamant Nature
Intimidate Abilty
-Waterfall
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge [bounce would be nice after platinum]
-Dragon Dance

Waterfall for STAB and flinch chance
Earthquake covers electric types
Stone Edge for lack of a better physical move on the set, and apparently it's nice on sweepers according to people who don't dislike its accuracy XP
Dragon Dance will make you faster than most pokemon with just one, and make you faster than all who don't have a speed boost of some kind after two
Bounce gets STAB and asks for electrics to switch in.. If you go for the first EV set, Jolteon and Electrode pose a threat here, but you can Earthquake any others. and if you Paralyze [30% chance with Bounce] even Electrode and Jolteon won't be a problem XP

EVs for one Dragon Dance:
252 Attack
252 speed
Will be faster than everything up to base 125 speed after one Dragon Dance

EVs for if you want to use dragon dance more than once
56 HP
200 attack
60 defense
60 special defense
132 speed

Will be faster than everything, including Ninjask [before it protects and gets a free speed boost >>] after two dragon dances, and double attack will sting anything in your way.

Cause Scizor is asking for a new Platinum move.

Scizor@Life Orb (Well, if you want competitive)
Technician Ability
Adamant Nature
-Swords Dance/Iron Defense/Agility
-Bullet Punch/Quick Attack/A Strong Base STAB
-Roost
-A STAB move/Brick Break/U-Turn/Pursuit/Superpower/Baton Pass/Double Hit

For RP intents, quite a few options have been listed.

Obvious stat up move.
Priority means less speed EV investment.
Roost recovers HP. One weakness too. Win there.
Filler move.

Actual set:

Scizor@Life Orb
Technician Ability
Adamant Nature
252 Atk / 220 Spd (+4 EVs for every one point away from 31) / Rest into HP
-Bullet Punch
-Swords Dance
-Roost/U-Turn/Quick Attack/X-Scissor/Pursuit
-Super Power/Brick Break

Swords Dance is obvious.
Bullet Punch becomes A Base 90 Atk with Technician and STAB. Swords Dance makes it scary.
Roost to recover HP off of Life Orb.
Quick Attack may seem redundant, but it hits Electric and Water types harder.
X-Scissor for STAB.
U-Turn to scout.
Pursuit to catch runners.
The Fighting moves are for coverage.

:'D
Have I ever told you guys how much I love you?
I do.

This is great, I'm so pumped about throwing him into an actual roleplay. When my exams are over, of course.
You're amazing :3
