Yes, I'm aware it's the same image as last update's But In Higher Res, But it's a great bit of art and I flipping love the chimeric cockatoo, mmkay?
So, along came October 14th and with it a new trailer and a wealth of new information. Some of it confirms what we've learned from Corocoro, and other information still is brand new.
Type: Null's evolution, known as Silvadi in Japanese, is known as Silvally in English for completely inexplicable reasons. Much like its pre-evolution, it is classified as the Synthetic Pokémon and its basic type is [type]Normal[/type]. Its signature attack is still called Multi-Attack, but its unique ability received a name change and it is now known as System RKS (because obviously, 'System AR' wasn't obvious enough an Arceus reference and propagating the godawful mispronounciation TPCi decided was how Arceus should be pronounced was so important). It also confirms that the items that allow Silvally to change its type are indeed individual items for each type, just like the Plates they are blatantly emulating, and when Silvally holds them, its head-crest, tail and what is presumably the system itself on its ear change color. Again, like the great divine goat-llama it was created to emulate.
Jangmo-o's evolutions are now known in English as Hakamo-o and Kommo-o. Both have the species name of the Scaly Pokémon and, as previously reported, are [type]dragon[/type]/[type]fighting[/type]. As with their pre-evolutions, they have Bulletproof/Soundproof for abilities. Kommo-o has its own signature move, Jangling Scales, which deals damage at the cost of lowering its defense stat.
But not all in this update was revealed by Corocoro - Some Pokémon we've already met also received new evolutions!
One of these was Bounsweet - which evolves not once but twice - first into Steenee and then into Tsareena. Both are pure [type]Grass[/type]-types and classified as the Fruit Pokémon. Steenee retains Leaf Guard or Oblivious as its abilities - but Oblivious Steenee acquire a new ability upon evolution. That ability, Queenly Majesty, prevents the opponent from using increased priority moves. Tsareena also learns a new signature move, Trop Kick (ye gods, the pun), which deals damage and reduces the opponent's attack stat.
Cutiefly, too, receives an evolution - Ribombee. Still the Bee Fly Pokemon, still [type]bug[/type]/[type]fairy[/type], still Honey Gather/Shield Dust. Plus, it is almost literally just a Cutiefly with a scarf and without a proboscis. Which is, as far as I'm personally concerned, a downgrade. But ah well. They can't all be winners.
Lastly, Alolan Grimer has been properly revealed - and with it, Alolan Muk! They are [type]poison[/type]/[type]dark[/type] and have the abilities Poison Touch or Gluttony. Apparently, Grimer were imported to Alola to eat garbage when the population of Alola increased, creating a difficulty in managing waste effectively. The 'stones' on their body are crystallized poisons and are very dangerous to touch - and Alolan Muk's gradient-slime-body actually alternates in colors, creating an oil-slick like effect.
In addition to these, two new human characters have also been introduced:
This truly fabulous individual - who was first revealed by Corocoro - is Ilima. He is a graduate of a trainer school and a specialist in the Normal-type. He is the first trial captain that you will meet.
And this lady is Olivia, the Kahuna of Akala Island, the second Island you will travel to as part of your island challenge. She specializes in the Rock-type and has apparently served as Kahuna since a young age - but she doesn't let it get to her head.
The trailer.
And that is pretty much it for this update. We'll keep you posted if anything else of interest shows up. All I can say is - Sun and Moon are getting closer and closer to release, and the hype is beyond real.
