"I presume you have all heard about the story of Team Galactic. Three years ago, their leader, Cyrus, succeeded in his quest. He summoned Dialga and Palkia, the guardians of time and space, to create a new world, a 'perfect' world in his eyes. Something went wrong.
Nobody knows for sure what exactly happened, since everyone that was in Sinnoh at the time never made it out anymore. All we know is that, right after Cyrus managed to call Dialga and Palkia, the world began to crumble. The ground was torn apart by huge rifts that randomly seemed to pop up everywhere. Tsunamis wreaked havoc on the land. Earthquakes destroyed houses and buildings. In other words, the end of the world, as some would call it. And in a way, it was.
The people in Sinnoh never stood a chance. The region got torn apart by rifts within hours, after which a merciless assault of tsunamis and hurricanes destroyed whatever was left of it. Hoenn wasn't safe either- the final report champion Wallace sent to the other regions mentioned that Groudon and Kyogre had gone into a blind rampage, destroying everything in their path. Rayquaza, normally the voice of reason when it came to the trio, also joined in on the destruction. The battle for Hoenn only lasted days- much like Sinnoh, currently nothing remains of Hoenn anymore. Or at least, nothing that we know of.
Unova, Kalos and Alola were hit rather badly as well. Although they weren't completely destroyed like Hoenn and Sinnoh had been, the natural disasters also took their toll here. They're now not more than merely small islands, in the case of Alola even smaller islands. People and Pokémon have been reported to still be living on said islands, so it's something, I guess. Kanto and Johto were the only ones to survive without too much trouble. Of course, roads and houses were destroyed, there are huge cracks in the ground everywhere that seemingly lead to nowhere and the lives of many were lost, people and Pokémon alike, but Kanto and Johto still exist, which is more than can be said about the others.
We don't know for how long this will last, though. Mere weeks after the disasters had ceased devastating the world, a new organization rose. They call themselves 'Voidlings', apparently. In the past, they would have been dubbed 'criminal' without a doubt. But in this world… They're incredibly powerful, much more so than any of the other criminal teams have ever been in the past. Even their regular members seem to be subjected to the best training possible, which makes them much more of a force to be reckoned with. And their goal is to destroy this world. They deemed the world doomed, and thus want to prematurely end its suffering. This cause has attracted many people. Too many. And they need to be stopped. It's my belief that we may have suffered terribly, but this world is not finished yet. In fact, I think this would be the perfect time to start rebuilding.
My name is Blue Oak, and as long as I still roam this planet, I will not allow the Voidlings to do as they wish. I'll protect this world, even if it were to cost me my life."
Welcome one, welcome all, to 'A World Reborn'. This RP will take place in an alternate future in the world of Pokémon, where 75-90% of the life on the planet has been wiped out by natural disasters due to Cyrus' failure. You are a human that has managed to survive with only one Pokémon partner remaining. Seeking to stop the destruction of (the remainders of) the world, you have joined an organization dedicated to stopping the so-called Voidlings, named the Renaissance. It's led by the famous Blue Oak. Currently, you, alongside the newest recruits, have been called to Pallet Town, where Blue Oak's right-hand man, Lieutenant Winston Surge, will train you to become a full-fledged member.
Rules
All the Pokémon Role Play Rules of Pokécharms apply to this RP, as well as a few others.
- You may have only one Pokémon throughout the entire RP, so choose wisely. This Pokémon already has nearly reached its maximum potential, but it will be necessary, taking the strength of the Voidlings into consideration.
- For now, Mega Pokémon are not allowed. Mega Stones and Key Stones may become obtainable later on in the story, but for now, all forms of Mega Evolution are banned for the RPers.
- Z-moves are banned. Furthermore, unlike Mega Evolution, Z-moves will never make an appearance in this RP.
- Violence will be a thing. NPCs may even die. Of course, blood won't be splattered all over the RP, and gory stuff won't be explicitly written, but characters may still die nonetheless.
- Speaking of deaths, player characters aren't safe either. 'Course, they won't get killed 'just because', not even if you should get defeated, but be careful. Making mistakes that are too severe (such as charging into the enemy headquarters on your own and trying to take on everyone by yourself) will not end well for your character.
- Your character is not allowed to have been champion, gym leader, Frontier Brain or anything of the sort at any point.
- That being said, your character does have to have been at least a decently skilled trainer before the disasters occurred. Otherwise they’d have never been able to obtain enough strength to oppose the Voidlings.
- No Fakemon or anything of the sort. It makes everything way too confusing.

Also, try to stay true to regional Pokédexes- a person that has never left Kanto has no business having a Slaking, for example. If you choose a partner Pokémon that is not native to your home region, please provide a reasonable explanation. Having received it as a gift from your mother does not count as a reasonable explanation, having travelled through another region where you caught it does.)

Moves: (Each Pokémon can have up to six moves. Your Pokémon must have been able to legally learn any of these moves in any core series game. Even if it is currently unobtainable in Sun/Moon, it’s still allowed for this RP. For example, Slowbro was able to learn Zap Cannon only in Gold/Silver/Crystal, but since Slowbro has been able to learn Zap Cannon at some point in time, Slowbro is allowed to have this move. This does not apply to moves that are transferred from Colosseum or XD: Gale of Darkness.)

Please don't be discouraged by the amount of text I put in his background- I honestly don't expect you to write as much as I did there. I may or may not have gotten carried away a little. That being said, I would appreciate a bit of thought put in personality and backstory- one mere line won't cut it, I'm afraid.
An IC thread will be made as soon as enough characters are submitted (minimum six).

I'll also be using my own character, right below here!
Name: Owen Legruffe
Age: 20 years old
Gender: Male
Region and hometown: Lacunosa Town, Unova
Personality: Owen always does his very best to come over as a cool and collected individual, but his façade drops quickly when faced with threatening or pressuring situations. He is also rather indecisive, especially in aforementioned scenarios. Due to not having had many friends in the past, there is not much Owen craves as much as having friends. He believes that his ‘cooler’ façade can help him to make friends, but in reality it just makes him look more clumsy. However, he is fiercely protective of his friends, should he be able to bond with someone. This is also evidenced in his bond with his partner Pokémon, Lumi, with whom he has been able to form a very close bond despite the Pokémon having been distant at first.
Appearance: He sports short blond hair, mostly hidden underneath a black-and-green baseball cap. His eyes have a bright blue color. He’s rather short, only standing at 5’7”. Before the incident, Owen preferred to wear clothes with flashy colors, but his current wardrobe only contains a ragged light brown coat, a shirt of the same coloring, and gray trousers.
Background: Owen grew up in Lacunosa Town in Unova. At the age of six, he saw a real Pokémon battle happen in front of his eyes for the first time, and ever since that time, he wished to become a Pokémon trainer as well. However, his parents, afraid of the repercussions that being a travelling trainer could have on their son, forbade him to take on his own Pokémon journey. At the age of ten, Owen secretly caught his first Pokémon with a Poké Ball he had received from a classmate of his. It was a Lillipup that he named Zane. He had originally intended to keep his new friend a secret from his parents, but it didn’t take long for them to find out the truth. Instead of becoming angry, Owen’s parents decided to compromise with him- he would be allowed to be a Pokémon trainer and catch Pokémon, but not to leave home without permission to take on a Pokémon journey. Owen accepted.
Years later, Owen had caught new Pokémon, namely a Leavanny that went by the name Lara, a Piloswine named Harthog and a Chandelure that he had dubbed Lumi. Zeke had also evolved into Stoutland at this point. He spent a lot of his time training his Pokémon, hoping to impress his parents and earn their approval to become a travelling trainer. That day never came.
On the fateful day, Owen was out training Zeke and Lumi. His parents were inside their house, alongside Lara, who had volunteered to help out with the household chores from time to time. Harthog, in a lazy mood, was resting close to the house. The earth began to shake. Owen wasn’t too concerned, as smaller earthquakes often occurred around Lacunosa Town. But when the shaking held on for ten minutes straight, he started becoming a little worried. That was when he heard a loud howling sound. Looking in the distance, he noticed a wall of wind quickly closing in on them- a cyclone that ate houses, trees and people, everything in its path. Frozen in terror, Owen could only watch as the cyclone neared his house. Within seconds, everything the house- including his mother, father, Lara and Harthog, were absorbed by the winds. Zeke tried to urge Owen to run away, but the young man still stood frozen in place. At that moment, Zeke threw the paralyzed boy on his back and urged Lumi to follow them. The brave Pokémon attempted to outrun the cyclone as well as he could, but he was no match for its speed. In a final act of bravery, Zeke launched the human from his back as far away from the cyclone as possible, and urged Lumi to carry him away. That was the last time Owen saw his first Pokémon. Even with the help of Lumi, the cyclone was too fast for the duo, and they were sucked in, just like their parents and friends had been before them.
Hours later, Owen woke up. He was lying in a route -unsure which route it was- and the unconscious form of Lumi was next to him. There was no sign of his family, house or other Pokémon. Lumi and he had miraculously survived. Holding onto the hope that his parents and Pokémon had maybe been just as lucky as he had, he followed the destructive path of the cyclone back to Lacunosa Town. The damage was off the charts- most houses were blown away, just like most of the population was. Owen and Lumi stayed in the remainders of Lacunosa Town for the next two years with the other survivors, until one day, a plane appeared in the sky.
Voidlings jumped out of the flying vehicle, and began monologuing about how the world was finished. They urged the survivors to join their cause and speed up the process of the world’s destruction. Many were swayed by their words, as was Owen. He and Lumi, alongside a great chunk of Lacunosa’s former inhabitants, entered the aircraft, which made their way back to Kanto. On their trip there, Owen got flashbacks of his parents. And then his late Pokémon. Realizing that there was still a chance they were alive, he knew he couldn’t go through with destroying the world. On his first night in the base in Saffron City, Owen and Lumi escaped the place together. They briefly travelled through Kanto, just the two of them, avoiding the Voidlings as much as they could, until they were found by two veteran members of the Renaissance. Deciding that the cause of the Renaissance followed his ideology much more than the cause of the Voidlings, he made his choice- to become a new member of the Renaissance and oppose the Voidlings.
Partner Pokémon species: Chandelure
Partner Pokémon nickname: Lumi
Gender: Female
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves: Heat Wave, Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, Energy Ball, Psychic, Calm Mind
Partner Pokémon’s personality: She used to be very distant from Owen (and everyone else), but ever since the incident, she has become more open and friendly towards her trainer. She will still treat outsiders rather coldly, and it isn’t easy to gain her trust either. She knows she is strong, and highly values that strength, sometimes even to the point of borderline arrogance. Owen often has to criticize her for that.
