And here's the results. (This was the Splatoon Splatfest in which the results were calculated by wins and popularity, note that wins were worth x6 the percentage.)

Popularity:
Pirates: 28% - Ninjas: 72%
Wins:
Pirates: 51%x6 - Ninjas: 49%x6
Final Results:
P:28% N:72%
P:51%x6 N: 49%x6
Pirates: 382 - Ninjas: 318
For that Splatfest Ninjas destroyed pirates in terms of popularity but the x6 wins for pirates carried them to victory (even with x4 Pirates still would've won. Nintendo first made the wins x2, then x4, then x6 to make sure popularity doesn't carry the team to victory.)
