Allie didn't get a chance to respond before the introduction speech began and finished. She smiled brightly, excited for the tournament to begin. The question of why still hung in the air, but the teen was oblivious to it.
She wondered what Pokemon she'd be assigned. One of her best skills was doing things on the spot, and she knew a lot about Pokemon - she'd went out of her way to study the various types of Pokemon before the Royale.

As soon as the walkthrough started for the conditions and rules for the tournament, Lev paid very close attention. Running through it all carefully as the film played, the young man was already considering potential options for victory. He wasn’t planning to break any of the rules, but he fully intended to find exploits and tactics that hadn’t been touched on. Alright, time to get started…

The Trainer waited patiently for his turn to be called, looking over to Allie in the meantime. He wasn’t worried about what Pokemon he got, as long as it was reasonably strong. Lev was more concerned with things going according to the plans he had.

“You ready?” he asked the young girl, his tone far more serious and business like, than when making casual conversation with her a few moments ago. His smile was gone, replaced with a stony competitive gaze, as his attention turned towards the participants being called. It was reminiscent of a lion watching its prey, eyeing up who to take down first.

Of course, Loki was cut off by the film. He still wanted to introduce himself, though he was partially enraged by someone calling him 'bud'. He sighed, hoping his ally didn't call him that the entire time. "Um...", he started to say after the film stopped," My... name is Loki, Loki Primus." This time, he was in it to win it, no more runner-ups, he was planning on betraying them at the last second, teaming up with someone else if it seemed this team was going to fail. Though it may not look like it, Loki can get arguably sinister in his means of winning. He maintained an eager expression, pretending to be an oblivious child in the beginning.

Shade smiled joyfully, almost a contrast to what she had projected beforehand. She met Acacia's hand with a firm handshake before she started looking a little better. Nerves were causing her to act strange and she didn't want to lose this chance to possibly win for her family's name.

When she heard the soft, yet almost deafening tap on a microphone, she whirled around to see a finely dressed man on stage. Raising an eyebrow she prepared her mind for mental note taking. What she could gather was that Felix Ranton was the mastermind behind this attraction and that they were going to watch a film. Forcing back an odd smile that seemed to come about from nowhere, she got reminded of one of her quirky teachers from way back when.

What caught her off guard was the catchy upbeat pop music. She would have much preferred something you'd hear in an action film. They were treating this so lighthearted. Then again, it was probably because there was nothing behind it. Her paranoia was causing her to think that there was something much more behind the scenes, but in reality it was just an innocent TV show about an awesome battle royale that amazing people are going to be participating in. There really is nothing behind this competition, and yet due to being in unfamiliar territory without her Pokemon, Shade was thinking this was all a facade. The look she gave was a very worried and intense stare as she looked up at the film, but it seemed like she wasn't absorbing anything.

Her fantasizing got so bad, she almost didn't catch the beginning of the speech. Regaining herself, she realized she didn't miss much as, with using context clues, she could piece together that there were no wild Pokemon out there. Well, that was good. That means that any Pokemon anybody will ever meet would be owned by a competitor. But if those Pokemon go out of control due to their temperaments, then there could be issues.

From what she can gather, they can only use the Pokemon they got from the competition and they will be given a backpack with a PokeGear. They'll have some rations, an emergency blanket used for putting out fires and for keeping warm as well as for camouflage, and a small first aid-kit for any injuries that the 4 Hyper Potions and 3 Revives can't handle, which would be for human use, but nothing was stated that the first aid-kit can't also be used on the Pokemon to make sure they don't run out of potions and revives.

When it came to the PokeGear, she took some interest in the little gadget. It reminded her of the games she used to play with her brother when he would stream them on PokeTube, since he was a semi-popular Gaming PokeTuber. Then she remembered why she was here. She was here because her brother wanted to compete but he got injured due to a freak accident during training his Pokemon. She had promised him that she was going to enter on his behalf. She gave herself a mental facepalm as she realized there was no way out and she had to perform well for her brother specifically. The pressure wasn't getting to her at all, no, definitely not. Anyway, she found that the PokeGear acted much like the mini-maps in those games, red meaning bad, yellow meaning the one holding the device, and green meaning drops. and blue meaning the starting position. Scan the PokeGear on the pole there before 1 o'clock and a random Pokemon will be issued. It also has an Escape Rope function where it essentially teleports people out of there when they don't make it to the pole or if they can't make it throughout the tournament.

Seeing that the PokeGear has its own GPS system and it's not connected to the person at all, anybody could lose it and they'd get stranded out there. Or worse, someone can use it to trap people by dropping it somewhere and hiding somewhere. When the lady was talking about that the Escape Rope could be used remotely, she wondered if the effect works if the person is several feet from their gear. At least she knew that if her Pokemon faint and there is no way to revive them, they will be hauled off. Although, now she had rules to contend with. Doesn't that suck up all the fun out of the game? No attacking anybody, which probably goes for both humans and Pokemon. No leaving the island while still in the tournament, and no stealing other trainer's Pokemon unless you beat them in a battle and before the Escape Rope function leaves them. And don't destroy cameras. Well, that's going to be awkward for her. What if she wants her privacy? Hygiene is a little important. What if she needs to bathe or take a dump somewhere? What about brushing her teeth? She sighed. You win some, you lose some.

Shade whirled back around to see Robin was super pumped for this. Smiling at his gusto, she nodded in agreement. "Well, if you really want to meet up somewhere, how about finding a body of water. It's really easy to see someone on the other side. Or we can climb a tree to see where we are in relation to everybody else. That is, if you aren't afraid of heights. Good luck, you two."

She walked off towards the front. She patiently waited for her name to be called, but she inched her way closer to the front, so she could grab her gear easier.

The girl had seemed to take a more hardened expression, a serious look on her face. She had a plan, and she would accomplish it.
This is it. Time to make a name for yourself.
"Ready as I'll ever be," she said softly.
Though her face was just plain serious, her fist was seen clenching. She was ready for hell or high water.

Acacia simply watched the video, intrigued by it all and planning his best course of action. The point Robin brought up raised an interesting question how would we find each other? He decided not to dwell on it too much, if they weren’t strong enough to last until the point where they could meet up it probably wasn’t a good idea to team up with them anyways. “Well good luck guys!” He smiled and gave a thumbs up as he went over to wait for his name to be called.

(OOC: I thought I was watching this thread, so sorry for not posting, I didn't get notified @.@;_;)

Neo walked over and saw several groups chattering and saw someone he thought he recognized. Was that... Starlight's sister? He had seen the duo a few times televised and he really enjoyed the younger girl's dancing and general style. He made his way over a little too energetically and waved at the girl. "Hi! I'm Neo. You're Starlight's little sister, right? Allie? I'm a big fan! Maybe... maybe we'll meet up in the tournament? I'm by, Neo the way. Ahh-I mean Neo-wait, I said that... Sorry!" The boy almost didn't hear the announcement when it started until the girl flashed some high-tech PokeGear. The boy was a big PokeGear geek, but he didn't have a good model. The idea that he would get a specialized one made him very excited! "Whoah, that's some fancy freakin' gear! How did they embed escape rope tech into it, I wonder...?" He got super excited as a man started to call out names and he started to think about his Pokemon. What kind would it be, and would they be friends? His thoughts slowly trailed away...

“Alright Loki, then asap, lets gear up and get moving when they call our names”

Lev figured that once everyone had gotten their starting Pokemon and gear, that there would be a mad rush of people aiming to battle one another. Some would leave and hide to go play the long game, but in order to acquire more Pokemon and become a threat to the rest of the competition, they had to battle other Trainers. We’ll need to get more Pokemon to round out our teams, but if we jump in guns blazing, we could get knocked out quick...The gears were turning in his head, as the young man devised a plan of attack to minimize risk and hopefully have greater chances of success.

Nodding to Allie at her reply, he could see she was looking more competitive as well. Giving a simple thumbs up, he hushed his voice so no one would overhear what he was going to suggest.

“We might get separated at the start if they don’t call our names close together. In case we do, we should come up with a way to find each other. It wouldn’t hurt, in case we get broken up for any other reasons. We’ve got the PokeGears, but since we can be tracked with em, we oughta come up with another method.”

Waiting to see if they had any suggestions, Lev's biggest strength was on display currently. He wasn't sure how he stacked up as a battler compared to everyone else. While he wasn't a pushover, there were definitely people here he knew outclassed him by a mile. In order to win against them, he intended to make full use of his planning and tactical methodology. Every advantage over the other competitors their team could get, he would find and make use of it.

Ideas swirled her head at that comment - some much more stupid than others - but the question remained. It was a thought she'd failed to think of before, and she internally slapped herself for it.
It couldn't be anything too flashy, but it had to be noticeable. At the same time, it couldn't be too specific, but it couldn't be too generic either.
"I don't know... you got any ideas?" she admitted.

Suddenly, she was caught off guard by another competitor rushing up to her. She blinked, slightly startled. However, she recovered quickly - this was a near everyday occurence for her.
"It's good to meet you, Neo," she replied kindly.

“I’m not 100% sure myself, but….”

Running through the equipment that they were receiving in his head, Lev could barely think of anything himself. The potions and healing items are only really useful for battle, and trying to find a way to use the PokeGear to our advantage would be better as a last resort...

When an idea did come to him, his eyes went wide as someone rushed Allie. Not wanting to let them overhear his ideas, the young man ushered Allie and Loki away from potential prying eyes, so he could give them the rundown.

“Actually...the first-aid kit. We can use small items from it to leave a mark if we’re hiding out somewhere. Some of them could be easy to miss, like a band-aid on a tree. It’s still noticeable, but in the heat of the moment, could get overlooked.”

Lev was grasping at straws a bit, but with the tools they were going to be given, options were extremely limited. If there was more emphasis on survival, this would be easier, but they want the focus on battling.

“It’s not a guarantee, but it might work. At least in a forested area. If we’re dealing with other environments, I....don’t really know what our options are…We may have to find a way to use the movement tracking of the PokeGear to our advantage in certain parts”

Eyeing both of his teammates, this was admittedly going to be harder than he expected. Even with help from others.

“If we have to use the PokeGear, we could communicate with our movement as a last resort. Like picking an object and moving around in that shape, so we can see where each other is on the map. To make that work though, we should play things safe the first day. See when the majority of the competitors are most active, so we know what timeframe is safest”

"Sounds like a plan!" Robin said to Shade as she walked off, grinning like a madman. The swordsman was so excited for this tournament. This really was like no other tournament he had ever competed in before. And to be honest, he didn't even care about winning. Well, he did care a little about winning. Who wouldn't want to win and get all that money? With that, he probably wouldn't have to worry about working again and could just keep going with his travels around the world. The blue-haired swordsman shook his head. No, he shouldn't focus on the prize. He was here to have fun, and to test himself. And if that meant winning, well, that wouldn't be that bad.

Hearing his name called, Robin gave Acacia a thumbs up.
"See you on the island, amigo!" Robin said. He jogged towards the table with all the gear, giving Shade a thumbs up as he went past her, and snatched up his gear. Royale Gear in hand, he waved at the other competitors (and the camera), and jogged out the door. Right off, he appeared to be in the middle of the forest he had seen getting off the boat. He glanced down at his Royale Gear. Dang, it looked like his starting point was a good ways across the island. With a grin on his face, Robin looked in the direction of his starting point and headed towards it with a solid job.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Well, Mr. Ranton. It looks like the competition is finally starting to kick off." Kami said. The young lady from the orientation film was actually also the one that was going to be hosting the show, along with Mr. Ranton himself. They were sitting in a white room on very comfortable looking chairs, while behind them a screen showed footage of various contestants spreading out across the island. "As our competitors make their way towards their starting points, is their anything you'd like to say to the audience?"
"Why yes, Kami." Mr. Ranton said, turning to the camera with a twinkle in his eye. "Just a reminder that if you see a competitor that you like, remember to vote for them on our website! Every 3 hours, the trainer with the most votes will receive a helpful package from us and the votes will reset! Remember, voting closes at 9pm every day and opens at 6."
On the screen behind Mr. Ranton, it showed the web address for the voting site before going back to footage of the contestants. In the corner of the screen, a countdown clock slowly ticked down to the start of the tournament.
"Voting will begin just as soon as the competition starts! So, keep those phones ready."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Robin slowed down to a walk when he finally spotted his starting pole. He had came pretty far from the Grand Hall. The pole was in an area of tall grass, with the forest not being too far away and a road nearby. Just beyond the starting pole, a the land fell away to a cliff that went straight down to the ocean. The blue haired swordsman let out a relieved breath as he approached the orange and white pole, feeling pretty tired as an ocean breeze whipped through his hair. The run to get to his point had been a pretty long one, but on checking his Royale Gear Robin found that he still had a few minutes before the competition started. The man sat down, scanning his Gear in the starting pole and leaning against said pole.

Now what... Robin took a few moments to actually start thinking up a plan. He was going to have to move fast once the game started. Try to grab a few Pokestops before battling an opponent. It would also do good to try to meet up with Shade or Acacia, but he didn't know where they would be. Or how he'd find them. What had they said? Meet by a body of water? Robin looked at the map, taking So Robin rested for a moment, waiting for the game to start so he could get his next bearings.

Minutes later...
"Five..." Robin quickly jerked awake. Across the island, hidden speakers began to count down to the start of the tournament.
"Four..." Quickly scrambling to his feet, Robin quickly threw his Royale Pack on again.
"Three..." The swordsman booted up his Royale Gear, ready to move.
"Two..." Oh wait, that's right. The Pokemon hadn't been issued yet.
"One... Begin!" All around the island, every starting pole that had been scanned by a competitor let out a simultaneous 'Clunk!' as a random Pokeball was released into the slot. The tournament had begun!

Shade saw Robin head towards the front and gave him a thumbs up as he passed by. Then her name was called, and she jogged up to the front to grab her backpack and waved at the camera before lightly jogging outside. It was beautiful outside and she could see everyone was jogging to their starting positions. Looking at her Royale Gear, she saw her starting position was in a forest up ahead. It was going to be a long jog, so she took her time to lightly jog there. She noted all the other positions of the starting points.

As she crested over a hill, she looked around a bit to see anyone she knew as familiar. Looking over, she could see someone over near a cliff and a forest. She couldn't tell who it was, but their blue hair gave her the suspicion it was Robin. Nice! She then headed off the hill and towards the forest.

As she entered the forest, Shade could see a starting point hiding within some trees. Smiling, she scanned her PokeGear and waited for everything to start. She decided to rest a bit, but she then fell asleep pretty quickly as soon as she sat down.

Then a resounding countdown could be heard. Waking up from the sudden noise, she looked all around to figure out what was going on before the timer went off and she heard a clunk at her pole. Grabbing the PokeBall, she quickly released the Pokemon inside. A Leavanny popped out and looked around. Then the bug creature looked up at Shade, who was smiling nicely towards it. Seeing that this person wasn't her former trainer, she glared at her before crossing her leaf blades and looking away. Shade, knowing the kind of Pokemon this was, just sighed in defeat.

"I'm your partner for a good while now. Once we either lose or win, you can get back to your trainer, okay?" she tried to reason with the Leavanny, which didn't work. Only got her another glare.

"Despite your autumn beauty, you will need to at least listen to me if we want to get what we want. I'm sorry, I will have to return you for now," she pointed the PokeBall at the Leavanny, who looked almost stunned before being swallowed up by the red beam.

Looking about, she decided she should find some PokeStops in the forest here. Looking at her PokeGear, she saw a lot of red and green dots, but luckily the red dots weren't near her. She looked towards the direction of the PokeStops and noticed how much denser the forest would get. Sighing, she raced headlong into the dark forest, trying to figure out a plan on how to get her Leavanny to listen to her while also needing to find water and scraps of food everywhere else.

After a dozen minutes of searching the underbrush and getting deeper and deeper into the woods, she finally came across a PokeStop overgrown with vines and leaves. Sighing in relief, she put her PokeGear up to it. She heard a clunk and she got some food and some more first-aid kit stuff. She threw them in her backpack before retreating out of the forest.

After 20 more minutes, she found herself outside. She decided against leaving the safety of the forest though and went back inside, only to climb a tree and get more view, as well as have the trees and surrounding branches and leaves hide her. Looking out and around, she tried to see if she could spot the familiar blue hair again.

Acacia’s name was called , he inhaled deeply and stepped forward to retrieve his gear. Once he had equipped everything he was ushered outside to a dense forest area. Upon checking his pokegear, Acacia was pleased to see his starting point was just a short hike to the southwest. As he walked through the trees Acacia couldn’t help but grin. He was reminded of his early days as a trainer, venturing through Viridian Forest, not knowing what would come his way. Ever since he made a name for himself in tournaments he hadn’t had much of an opportunity for new adventures, most of his traveling was on his Dragonite just from one place to the next.

He must’ve walked rather slowly as a result of getting lost in his thoughts because as soon as he spotted his post he heard the countdown begin. Shoot Acacia began to sprint towards his post, fumbling with the rescue gear to scan it just before the timer hit zero. A pokeball emerged and Acacia quickly grabbed it, opening it to find a Salandit. “Nice!” Acacia was glad, he was worried he was going to get stuck with some obscure Pokémon, but the poison and fire lizard would hopefully prove to be quite versatile. “I’m Acacia, it looks like we’re gonna be partners.” Salandit chirped in agreement and hoped on his new friend’s shoulder and the two went slowly walking off, with no particular destination in mind.

Robin had quickly reached in and caught the Pokeball before it even hit the bottom of the slot. He knew he should get going, but Robin just knew he had to check what Pokemon he got before he headed out. Everyone else was probably doing it anyway. Pressing the button on the Pokeball, a red beam of light flashed out to reveal... A small, yellow, catlike Pokemon.
"Abra!" The psychic type Pokemon said cheerily, looking up at Robin. The swordsman stared at the Abra, before squatting down to get a closer look at his Pokemon. This was the Pokemon he was supposed to start with? An Abra? Didn't they only know, like, Teleport?
"You know, you're lucky you're so darn cute. Otherwise, I might be a little more upset." Robin said to the psychic type.
"Abra?" The psychic cat asked, confused. Robin sighed and got out his Royale Gear, checking the Pokemon function. Yep. It was an Abra, alright. Known moves... Teleport, Telekinesis, Gravity, and... Shock Wave. Well, at least it knew one damaging move. Robin would have to play it smart if he was going to survive this tournament.

"Well, little guy. We gotta get going." Robin said. He attempted to return the Abra back to the Pokeball, only for it to teleport out of the way at the last moment.
"Abra?" The Abra appeared in Robin's Royale Pack, sticking her head out of the pocket. Robin sighed with a smile, shaking his head.
"Well, suit yourself. It's going to be a bumpy ride for you." Robin said. But the psychic Pokemon was already asleep. Looking at his Royale Gear, Robin took off in a sprint towards the nearest PokeStop. Quite a few red dots were on the move now, and it looked like another one was on it's way towards the Pokestop Robin was aiming for. Well, Robin would just have to be faster.

After a few minutes of running towards the PokeStop, Robin found himself in the general area of the PokeStop. It was right against a steep, rocky cliff, where a waterfall crashed down into a pool of water. He looked around frantically, trying to find it. An opponent was closing in on his area, and if he wasn't out of there fast enough they would have him trapped. Finally location the PokeStop, wedged between two rocks near the waters edge and painted to blend in, Robin scanned his Royale Gear to find... Some food and an X Attack. Great. Just what he needed. Not even some Rare Candies or a TM? Robin quickly took off his backpack, recalling the sleeping Abra to her Pokeball before stuffing the food and X Attack in his bag.

"Well, howwww-DY!" Robin quickly spun around to find a man in a poncho wearing a cowboy hat and boots leaning against a tree. He had a bit of a beard, and pushed up his hat to smirk at Robin. "Y'look like yer in a bit of a hurry. Where's the fire, partner?"
"Oh, well, y'know..." Robin said, slowly standing up and putting his backpack on. "It's a big island. Many places to go, many things to see."
"Well, it's gonna be a pity that y'ain't gonna see any of it." The cowboy said. "Draw!"
The cowboy quickly pulled a Pokeball from his pocket, sending out his Pokemon. A Growlithe jumped to the ground, barking happily and bouncing around. Okay... maybe not too bad. Still, this was the very thing that Robin was attempting to avoid. Robin drew his Pokeball from his pocket and sent out his Abra, who woke up at the sound of the Growlithe's barking.
"Growlithe, use Take Down!" The cowboy commanded.
"Abra, dodge with Telekinesis!" Robin ordered. The Growlithe was fast, but Abra was faster. Glowing with psychic energy, Abra lifted itself into the air just in time. The Growlithe's charge missed, slamming it's head into some nearby rocks. Robin winced, but the cowboy continued his assault.

"Don't let it git along, lil' doggie! Use Flare Blitz!" The cowboy commanded.
"Abra, use Gravity!" Robin said. The dog Pokemon shook off slamming into some rocks before crouching down, staring down Robin's Abra. A firey aura began to surround the Growlithe, and it launched itself upwards towards the Abra. But the Abra pointed back down at Growlithe, and an invisible force stopped the dog Pokemon before sending it shooting back down towards the ground. It landed in the pool of water with a splash, and surfaced for a moment before getting sucked underneath the waterfall.
"Ah, shoot!" The cowboy said. Robin, on the other hand, was a bit more panicked.
"What are you doing, man?! Return it to the Pokeball before it drowns!" Robin exclaimed. The cowboy quickly returned the Growlithe back to it's Pokeball before sending it out again. The poor dog was soaked to the bone, and looked like it could barely stand. Robin didn't really want to battle it, but it looked the the cowboy wasn't going to give him any choice.
"Abra, Shock Wave. But not to hard." Robin said the second part a bit quieter.
"Growlithe, get'm with yer Flare Blitz when he comes in for the attack!" The cowboy commanded. Abra swooped down, and Growlithe attacked with Flare Blitz once again. But like before, the Abra managed to strike first. A blast of electricity shot out of the Abra, hitting the Growlithe before it was able to hit Abra with it's Flare Blitz. And that was enough for the poor Growlithe. The fire-type collapsed on the ground, unconscious. The blue haired swordsman let out a bit of a breath. He had done it. He won his first battle in the tournament!

"Aw, shoot! No!" The cowboy exclaimed. His Royale Gear chirped loudly, and Robin could see a countdown on the screen.
"Quick! Give me the Pokeball!" Robin said to the cowboy. Begrudingly, the other contestant tossed Robin the Growlithe's Pokeball before sighing and sitting down.
"Well, this sucks. Losin' t'a dumb Abra. Talk about emb-" With a sudden flash, the cowboy was gone. Robin sighed, relaxing a bit before checking his own Royale Gear. It looked like there were some red dots heading his direction, but they were still a bit of a ways away. He figured it would be good to try to avoid them until he got a few more PokeStops... Turning to the Abra, he couldn't help but to smile at the small Psychic type. She had settled down to the ground, her back to Robin.
"Well, I have to handle it to you little guy. You're a bit better than I thought you'd be, even if we did just get really lucky." Robin said to the Abra. But when he approached her, he found that she was already asleep once again. Well, wasn't that just the darnedest?

Robin knelt down next to the unconscious Growlithe, fishing a Revive and Hyper Potion from his bag and using them on the fire-type. The Growlithe slowy woke up, looking around a bit confused.
"Hey, little guy." Robin said to the Growlithe. "I know it's hard to explain, but, uh, I'm gonna be your trainer for right now. You did good in your fight. You're a real toughy."
Robin reached down a petted the Growlithe. It looked confused for another moment, before seeming to decide, eh, whatever, and smiling happily at Robin.
"Now, we gotta get going guys." Robin said to his two Pokemon, recalling them to their Pokeballs and sprinting into the forest towards the next PokeStop.

Allie quickly grabbed her Pokeball, and took off deep into the island. Once she found a secluded spot, she opened the Pokeball.
With a flash of white light, a familiar Pokemon appeared. It had feline features, with bows adorning it and crystalline blue eyes. This was Sylveon, the fairy evolution of Eevee. A Pokemon that Allie was very familiar with.
"Okay, Sylveon... my name is Allie. I'm going to be your trainer for a while, o-"
Sylveon interrupted her with a ribbon. "Syl-syl." The Intertwining Pokemon gave her a bright smile.
Allie smiled. "Well, I'm glad that's okay with you."

Finally hearing his name, Lev grabbed the starting gear, and headed to his own designated starting point. Much like he figured would happen, their little group had been separated. Off on his own in a mountain area, the young man patiently waited as the timer ticked closer to the real start of the tournament.

Four...three...two...one…

The moment he heard a clinking noise, Lev immediately reached out his hand, catching the Pokeball the very moment it was dispensed. Wasting no time, he immediately checked the Royale Gear to see if anyone was around. Not seeing any red dots close by, he allowed himself a moment to relax. Looking quickly at the photo he had dropped earlier, he smiled softly, before it dispelled back to his serious expression.

“When this is all over, we’ll never have to worry about anything ever again...Zena…”

Opening the Pokeball he received, no doubt everyone else was doing the same thing all across the island. If people wanted to succeed, they had to know what Pokemon they were working with after all. Popping out of the sphere, was the form of the ferocious electric lynx-lion, Luxray. An initial surge of excitement swelled inside Lev, but quickly evaporated seeing the Pokemon eye him up angrily. Snarling and baring its teeth, the young man returned its angry look with a stoic face.

“Look, I’m not happy about this situation either. If we can get through this tournament, you can go back to wherever you came from.”

Attempting to make some common ground with the Luxray seemed to fail, as it backed away from the young man, and proceeded to try and escape.

“Hey! Get back here!”

Chasing after it further up the mountain path, Lev eventually got close enough to be able to recall the creature into its Pokeball before it was too far away. Catching his breath from the sudden expulsion of energy and adrenaline, he glared at the device in frustration.

“Stupid cat...Of course I get a Pokemon that doesn’t wanna listen…”

Suddenly feeling like he was attempting to win a race without the use of his legs, the young man figured his only option was to try and find Loki or Allie. If his Pokemon wouldn’t listen to him, then he’d have to get some help to keep him from getting knocked out in the first couple minutes. Double checking his Royale Gear, it was reading that a PokeStop could be found nearby.

I’ll meet up with them soon. May as well see if that’s got something useful I can use, or at least for one of them.

Trekking up the mountain slope, Lev noticed that the reading for the PokeStop was coming from a small cave that had come into his vision. He hadn’t seen anyone on the Gear nearby, so figuring he was still alone, the Trainer took a look in the cave. Sure enough, when he ventured in, there was a PokeStop located a few feet back towards the end of it. Walking up to it, he attempted to claim the items, but nothing came out.

That doesn’t make any sense...Did they leave some of the PokeStops empty on purpose?...Or...wait…

Hearing a noise from behind him towards the cave entrance, Lev turned around to see another Trainer with a satisfied look on their face. The grin made him uneasy, resembling the look of someone who had just cornered prey. Reaching for his Pokeball, the young man knew an actual battle would be virtually unwinnable. So he decided to opt for intimidating to weasel his way out of the predicament.

“You’re preying on the wrong guy bud. I got a really strong Pokemon to start with, so I’d suggest you try your little plan on someone else. Outta my way, or you’ll be the one getting booted off the island”

A chuckle escaped from the other Trainer’s mouth. As they stepped forward, Lev could make out more of their features. They were about his own age, wearing long shorts, a tank top, and flip flops. It reminded him of all the tourists who came through Orre, who weren’t used to the hot desert climate, and learned quickly it wasn’t anything close to being like a visit to Alola. Grey eyes locked with his amber ones, with little intention in them that the person before him was going to back down.

“Sure, that’s what anybody would say. Unfortunately for you, I’m not buyin it. I went through a lot of trouble settin this up so I could get myself another Pokemon. We’re gonna battle, whether you like it or not”

Continuing his attempts at intimidation once more, Lev could see when they failed again that there was no getting out of the challenge. His opponent had already released his own Pokemon, a Dewott, to ensure there’d be no running away. Gritting his teeth, the young man released Luxray, every fiber in his body standing on edge. There’s no way...I can’t lose before I ever get a solid chance to win this…

“Dewott! Use Razor Shell!” the opponent commanded. Unleashing a powerful strike attack, the otter just narrowly missed, as Luxray dodged out of the way of its own accord. It looked back to Lev with a glare, that the young man returned with one of his own. “Just help me get through this battle, please” While still not looking thrilled, the lynx-lion had little choice, as another incoming attack was headed straight for it. Darting around the Razor Shell, it reared its head back for a moment, before charging at the Dewott. The creatures, now in close quarters, were attempting to land bites and scratches on their enemy to little avail. Each time they thought they were close to getting a hit, the other managed to dodge it. This continued, until Luxray finally managed to outpace the Dewott. Catching it in a corner of the cave, it bit down on the otter, with its teeth supercharged with electricity. The Thunder Fang devastated the Pokemon, as it kicked and wailed, trying to escape from the electrocution it suffered through. After that, while it attempted to continue the fight, its efforts proved to be futile. Only managing to get a couple minor hits in, it was felled by a Bite, and another Thunder Fang it failed to escape from.

“No! Dewott!”

Falling to the ground, Dewott had no strength left to continue battling. As it lay there defeated,, Lev breathed a sigh of relief, while quickly returning Luxray to its Pokeball before it began another attempt to escape. Looking over to where his opponent had been standing, their form was now exiting the cave, and could be heard making a break for it down the mountain. Looking out from the cave entrance, Lev watched as the guy was soon caught by refs, holding a Royale Gear that was covered in dirt. They were desperately trying to plea, but they fell on deaf ears as they were escorted away.

So that’s how they masked their signal...they dug their gear in the ground so people would think they were somewhere else. Looks like the judges aren’t too keen about that though…

Turning back to the knocked out Dewott, in their haste to escape, its Pokeball had been left behind as well. Recalling the Pokemon so it could rest, Lev was just glad that he now had another Pokemon to work with. He’d only gotten through that battle because Luxray had the type advantage over Dewott, and he hadn’t tried to command it. Trying to order it to do anything for now was going to be like pulling teeth. And after it knocked down Dewott, it was looking to escape the first chance it got…

Figuring it wasn’t best to dawdle here any longer, the young man checked his Gear quickly, and then descended down the mountain path. Eyeing it every so often, he made sure to steer away when he saw large clusters of red dots moving anywhere in his vicinity. God, there’s still too many people. Better find Allie or Loki before I run out of luck...

Shade was busy watching everything from atop a tree. She was very well hidden and was quite happy and content with just staying up there, but she knew she had to start roaming around. She looked at her PokeGear and noticed someone was dangerously close to her. She looked down at the ground and found a guy with a Delcatty. Raising an eyebrow, it seemed the guy was checking his Gear as well and trying to find where she went, probably. She released her Leavanny right next to her. The Pokemon looked at where she was, then down at the potential opponent Shade was looking at, and then at Shade. She gave a "what are you doing?" kind of look that verged on disgust. Shade looked over and sighed.

"Well, we can either fight this guy, win, and get his Pokemon, or we just sit here and do nothing."

The Leavanny just shrugged. Indifferent? Interesting. "Well, do you want to fight? You can do what you want if you fight, I won't have you do a move you wouldn't want to do."

The Leavanny gave Shade a weird look. Normally humans would demand they get obeyed, right? So why not her? The Leavanny just shrugged again before taking out a token that was wrapped around her taken with some string. Shade hadn't seen that there before and wondered how she didn't notice it. After looking at the tag, she saw that her name was Foli and what her Ability was. Interesting.

"Foli? Nice name actually. My name's Shade," the young researcher smiled back at the Leavanny, which gave her some rolling eyes. Shade just raised an eyebrow and looked back down at the ground to see their opponents were going to be on the move soon. "Come on, if you want to fight, then fight. If not, then we'll just hang back then."

Foli just looked down at the opponent, and just shrugged before making her way down the tree to land right in front of the Delcatty. Shade, happy that they were getting somewhere this time, expertly navigated the tree limbs to get the forest floor and smirked at the man in front, who seemed quite shocked. He looked like the typical single guy with 30 Cat Pokemon living with him - all with the awkward polo shirt, shorts, sandals, and pale skin with dusty brown, unkempt hair and grey eyes.

Shade didn't say a word, but instead crossed her arms and stood there with an imposing look and a steely, almost stone cold glare as she looked through the guy's eyes. He looked quite stricken with fright, not because of being ambushed, but because of the way this lady was looking at him. Was she crazy? Was he going to get hurt? He just crouched down on the ground and yelled at his Delcatty. "Get her away from me!"

The Delcatty just looked back at the man, then towards Foli and Shade with a protective and concerned look on her face. She charged at Foli with quite some speed, but the way she was running was quite reckless, as she was putting quite a bit of power into it. Shade knew this was Double-Edge. Leavanny simply jumped over the Delcatty and slashed her leaf blades at Delcatty as the cat was passing by underneath. Caught off guard, the cat Pokemon fell to the ground and got up, only to be confronted by the Leavanny with glowing green leaf blades. The cat Pokemon just headbutted the bug away, sending the Leavanny careening backwards. Shade quickly looked at her Gear to check Leavanny's moves. Leaf Blade, X-Scissor, Swords Dance, and Air Cutter... Interesting combination.

Shade waited to see if Leavanny gave any kind of body signal to ask for Shade to take control. Nothing. Not even when the Delcatty began getting the upper hand with Double Slap, slapping Foli numerous times in the face with her paws. Not even when the Delcatty showed off the Water Pulse and attempted to soak the Leavanny and confuse the poor bug with the pulsating water circle. Not even when it used Icy Wind, blowing the chilling wind towards Leavanny and sending it to the ground, shivering. But Foli got back up each time and buzzed defiantly. What was the Leavanny doing?

As the Delcatty was going for another Icy Wind, Shade couldn't help herself but shout out a command. "Air Cutter!"

Leavanny, taken aback by the command, stood there for too long and was forced to dodge, nearly getting hit by the wind again. She looked at Shade confused and Shade sighed. "I'm sorry, I did tell you that you can do whatever you want. It's just a reflex. I thought it would be better to use that, so you wouldn't have to get close and you could overwhelm with your attacks."

Foli, nodding a bit in understanding, now knew that Shade had some strategy. Just like her former trainer. She soon got angry though. Nobody could be like her trainer. Nobody. She glared at Shade, who was now even more confused. The leaf-covered bug rushed forward with glowing green blades, crossed them in an X formation, and then slashed them at the Delcatty. The cat was unable to move fast enough, getting hit and getting sent back. Delcatty fainted.

The man, who was still crouched down in the fetal position, saw that his Pokemon was defeated and he just let out a whimper before rolling the cat Pokemon's PokeBall over to Shade. The researcher picked it up and thanked the man for the battle before kneeling down to tend to the cat Pokemon, not noticing that the man got teleported away by the Escape Rope function. She checked her med-kit for anything of use, but then realized that a Revive was better, especially if she needed two Pokemon to battle soon. She had the Delcatty swallow the Revive and sprayed her liberally with a Hyper Potion before petting the cat Pokemon awake. Grateful, she mewled in content before being returned in her PokeBall.

Looking back at Foli, the bug was giving her a surprised look, as if she had never seen anyone else that compassionate before, except her trainer. No, nobody could be like her trainer. She defiantly crossed her arms together and looked away, clearly frustrated. Shade, confused, just sighed and asked. "Do you want me to heal you, or are you good?"

Foli shook her head and walked over to her PokeBall attached to Shade's belt and returned herself. Well, at least they wouldn't be short on anything, but they needed to find more PokeStops. Shade looked at her PokeGear and saw quite a few enemies heading towards a PokeStop, but she was closer to it. Could she make it?

She climbed up a tree to get a good view of where the PokeStop would be and it was in a ravine. Interesting. She decided to make her way there, using the treetops as cover as she hopped expertly through the branches. She had to get there quickly before they did and judging by the speed of the red dots, they seemed to be making good time, but were still slow.

After several minutes of traversing the treetops, she finally made it to the edge of the forest and the entrance to the ravine in between the mountains. She chose to run up on the cliff and get a good view in the ravine. Even though she made great time, the three people she saw heading towards the PokeStop were already in the ravine. Crap. The best way she could get there would be to sprint her way up above before sliding down. Putting her work-out sessions with her Pokemon to good use, she began to sprint her way to the PokeStop. This was extremely risky, but she had to get there.

After a good few minutes of her shifting between an all out sprint to a light jog, she was finally above the PokeStop, which was camouflaged to look like the rest of the rocks beside it as it was near the edge of the ravine. Well, the opposite side of the ravine that she was on.

Cursing to herself, she looked down to see how steep the cliff was. It wasn't actually that bad, but it was still hella steep. She would have to be careful going down. It wasn't like she could easily walk or run down the cliff face, she would have slide down and leap off and hope her momentum would carry her to the pole on the other side of the ravine, which was a good 15 feet away. Looking down, she saw the enemies were getting closer. She had to act now or never.

Steeling herself, she jumped off the side of the cliff and slid down, her body crouched and her feet staggered, so as to keep contact with the cliff face as she slid down at an alarming rate. Creating lots of dust, her descent nearly ended halfway down before she leaped off the face with a strong push from both legs. She looked like a superhero in slow motion as she was completely horizontal and traveling at an okay rate with her arms extended out in front of her. The three people who were walking towards the PokeStop looked with either an appalled or awed look or a mixture of in between as they watch this lady slide down a cliff and seemingly "float" across the ravine's gap to get to the PokeStop first. A couple thought she was a showoff, while the other guy thought she was quite admirable.

As she got closer to the PokeStop, she could feel her body descending faster towards the ground. It was a nice curve, but she figured in a split second that if she didn't grab that pole, she would break something slamming down to the ground. In what felt like agonizing minutes, her descent closer to the earth was interrupted as her fingers graced the pole. Thank Arceus! She pulled at the pole with all her strength as her body hugged the pole and the remaining force of gravity acting upon her forced her down a couple feet, which coincidentally had her land on the ground by her jumping off as she slowed down a bit. Scanning her PokeGear, she took the three guys' stunned looks as an opportunity to take what she needed.

A Revive and some more food was found in the PokeStop, but also a Razor Claw. This would be useful for Foli. Pocketing the items quickly, she made her way up the PokeStop's pole. The three young men were shocked and began charging towards the PokeStop, but as they got there, she was already at the very top of the pole. Of course, the pole didn't reach the top of the ravine. She could hear them angrily shouting at her and trying to get her to come down. She leaped off the pole and began climbing the ravine's face, finding pockets and little holds for her feet and hands as she traversed the wall slowly. Rock climbing was never her forte, but she had done quite a bit of rock climbing with her sister back in the day. She was rusty, but she was glad she still had it.

After a minute, she found herself at the top and rolled over on her back as she made it. That was close. Now time to get out of there while those guys get out of the ravine. She could hear them yelling at her and each other for letting her escape. Giggling maniacally at the adrenaline rush she was receiving, she got up and began making her way to another PokeStop. Which was past the ravine and into another forest. Interesting. She ran her way there, trying to keep an eye out for Robin and Acacia to team up with before she got out. She found a red dot heading that way, so might as well see if that was one of the two.

Meanwhile, back at Shade's family's ranch, her siblings were practically celebrating, but also cursing her name for scaring them like that. She had done something amazing, yet nearly gave their poor mother a heart attack and her blue-haired brother nearly got an anxiety attack. The Darastrix Family name wasn't only rising in reputation, but also showing off how hardcore their training put them physically, as they would train with their Pokemon to gain as much as their Pokemon would gain. They just hoped she would have an easier time with the Leavanny. The announcer was practically just as amazed as most people would be at her great athleticism. Apparently, being in a lab hadn't sullied her physical abilities, due to her actually training while she was working. Still, it was quite a risk that would have taken her to the hospital with more than several fractures and broken bones if that had not worked out so well, and she was a mere three feet away from actually hitting the ground.

Still, her family wished that she was more careful in the future.

Loki was the last one for some unknown reason, though didn't mind the inconvenience. When he got the PokeBall, he was rather unsure. What if it was a Rattata? At least a familiar Pokemon, he hoped. He grabbed for the PokeBall reluctantly, starting to get afterthoughts about this competition. He walked eastbound to a forest, checking his Royale Gear as often as possible. He made his way to a very large tree in the forest, and decided to release his Pokemon. Out came... He couldn't look... Wait. What even is that? He didn't want to use any of his equipment, but rather gathered details based on it's appearance. It appeared to be a green... thing, reminiscent of the kappa, along with an outstretched lily pad on it's had giving it the shape of a sombrero. It didn't want to look at him, even if he tried to. He walked around the Pokemon to observe it, though it kept on facing it's body away from him. He stopped from the endless motion and looked at his Royale Gear. "Huh... I think we should head up here, 'kay?", he asked the Pokemon, though it refused to respond. When he tried to walk to the direction of the PokeStop, the lily pad-like Pokemon refused to follow him. "I know we barely know each other, but we should probably learn to get along!", he called to his Pokemon, though it again looked away. When he walked toward it a nearly angry rage, he heard wrestling in a bush. He turned around and saw a Sneasel pop out of it. "Gah!", he said, startled. He went behind his Pokemon, acting like it was some sort of shield. A trainer came out, who was dressed like one of the ancient Draconids of Hoenn. " Are we gonna battle or what!?", he taunted, with his Sneasel standing near his legs. "Uh... Yeah...", he said, quite unsure of even what his Pokemon was. Quickly, he thought of what type it was. Grass, due to it's green coloration. "Uh... Pokemon, use Leaf Blade!", he called," Wait, no, Vine Whip!" The kappa Pokemon gave him a look of confusion. "Fine, what do you want me to do?", he asked it. Before it could reply to the rhetorical question, the trainer said something from the other side," Now, use Avalanche!" It launched a flurry of tiny shards of ice and rocks directly for the Pokemon Loki owned. "Eek!", he said, running to the left. The lily pad Pokemon looked shivering, though defiant. Without his command, it charged at the Pokemon with it's hand. It seemed as if the energy from Avalanche went into the hand of the Pokemon, as when it touched the Sharp Claw Pokemon, a wave of energy struck it, enough to knock it out. It looked like a fighting type move known as Counter. "What, no!", the trainer called out," I won't stand--", He was cut off by the Escape Rope system sending him back. Loki nearly laughed at his victory. He thought he was going to be a goner for sure! Still, the Pokemon refused to look at him, upsetting Loki. He wished he could figure out what Pokemon it was to get a better scope on things. Though he should still try and find Allie or Lev...

Neo's name was called and he happily walked up to receive his PokeGear. He looked at his map and took out a piece of paper and pencil to draw a crude map, just in case. He marked the starting area and his target location and started to walk. He missed racing his Pokemon friends around Route 102. The grasslands looked just like these and nostalgia hit him harder than Lucio's boops in Overwatch. (OOC: Hey, I imagine video games are a thing in the Pokemon universe, so why not make a reference to one?) He trudged to a warm sandy area that was as hot as Lavaridge. So many memories flooded past him.

Suddenly, a timer sounded. Neo had to turn around and find his pole half-buried in the sand. He laughed as the pole was scanned and a Pokeball was dispensed, which he eagerly opened. An Alolan Raichu came out of the ball which was asleep. The Pokemon lazily half-opened one eye and looked at the boy. His eye glowed blue and the Raichu used Speed Swap. Neo tried to step forward but went too fast because of the move and tripped. Oh boy, this is gonna be a looooong tournament, isn't it?

Allie walked through the grass, occasionally looking down at her PokeGear. The area she'd found herself in was fairly sparse and not many red dots were in sight.
She couldn't believe her luck when she found a PokeStop nestled in a bush. She mentally pumped her fist triumphantly, as she opened it. It contained some food, as well as one Super Potion and an item that excited her a lot: a King's Rock.
"Sylveon... I think you should take this," she suggested.
Sylveon didn't even think about it. The Fairy-type took the King's Rock with one of her ribbons, smiling with satisfaction.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted her thoughts. "Well, look what we have here."
She turned around, startled. Behind her was another trainer, looking a couple of years older than her - and much taller than her. He leered down at her, with a look that told her that he definitely was out for blood.
She got up, her fists clenched. The teen laughed at her. "Well, looks like we have to battle. Or you could just leave now, spare yourself the embarrassment."
Sylveon looked absolutely enraged at this. The Pokemon stood in front of her trainer, and stamped her paw. "VEON."
The trainer stared at the Intertwining Pokemon. "Heh... an Eeveelution. Pathetic Pokemon for a pathetic Trainer. I'll show you a real Pokemon." He tossed his Pokeball into the air, releasing a canine Pokemon with dark fur and a powerful stance. This was Mightyena, the Bite Pokemon.
"Mightyena, Poison Fang."
Before Allie could reply, the Pokemon launched forward, teeth glowing purple. Before Sylveon could dodge, the Poison Fang hit in full effect. Sylveon was thrown backwards, with a cry.
"Oh no, Sylveon!" Allie cried. However, Sylveon did not faint. The fairy Pokemon got up. battered and bruised, but still ready to fight.
Allie was completely enraged now, as was her Pokemon. If there was any Pokemon she knew how to use, it was an Eeveelution.
"Sylveon, Hyper Voice!" Allie commanded.
The trainer faltered. It was clear that he had expected to knock out Sylveon in one hit.
Sylveon's eyes glowed a harsh blue, and she extended her ribbons outwards. Suddenly, she let out the loudest cry Allie had ever heard.
The screech manifested into waves of energy, that Allie recognized as the move she'd commanded. However, unlike the colorless waves of normal Hyper Voice, these ones were pink and sparkly. Allie realized that Sylveon must have the ability Pixilate.
But that means... if Pixilate makes moves Fairy-type... and Mightyena is a Dark type... then...
The sound waves crashed into the Bite Pokemon with immense force, throwing Mightyena back. It was clear from the result that the dark-type had fainted.
The trainer growled in rage, recalling his Pokemon. The Escape Rope had not activated yet, and Allie saw a nasty gleam in his eyes.
"If I can't eliminate you with a battle... let's see if you'll drop out after this!" Suddenly, he lunged forwards. Allie tried to dodge, but before the trainer disappeared, he landed a blow onto Allie's face.
The trainer faded away, looking victorious. Allie let out a pained cry, clutching the spot where the blow had landed.

Robin sprinted through the woods, brushing aside foliage as he dashed towards his goal. He took a glance down at the Royale Gear in his hand. Well, this wasn't good. Another opponent was starting to make their way towards the cache, coming from a sort of ravine. Strange. Robin would have assumed it would take someone a while to make their way down and up that ravine. The opponent coming from the ravine was making good time, but Robin was faster and closer. If he was quick and the PokeStop wasn't too hard to find, he could be in and out before the opponent was even close. But that wasn't the concerning part. The concerning part was the group of competitors making their way towards the PokeStop from the north. They were moving quite slowly, but if Robin was forced to battle the competitor from the ravine, the group from the north would probably make it to him by the time their battle was finished.

Looking up from the Royale Gear map, Robin was just in time to get closelined by a low hanging tree branch. It hit Robin hard across the face, making his eyes water and knocking him on his back.
"Ooh... Come on, Robin... Ya got to keep moving..." Robin grumbled, slowly getting back up and running again. He could feel something warm and wet running down his face, and upon inspection found he was bleeding from a cut on his left cheekbone. Lovely. Another facial scar to add to the collection. Checking his Royale Gear once again (and making sure he wasn't in danger of getting closelined again), he found that he was almost to the PokeStop.

Robin slowed to a stop as the forest tapered off into a small clearing. In the middle of the small clearing, the ruins of a cabin stood. Most of the windows were either broken or gone, and the door was missing. It looked like it hadn't been lived in for quite some time. Somewhere in there was the PokeStop. Not wanting to waste any more time, Robin quick ran into the cabin.

Managing to find a spot to rest briefly, Lev decided to use the time to mull over his options, as well as take a look at all the equipment he had to start with. It was pretty generous the amount of items that had been dolled out at the start. For a Battle Royale, I would’ve figured we’d have to find all the Potions, but hey, I’m not complaining.

While he had eaten not that long ago and was feeling good on energy, the Trainer opted to at least drink some water. More than likely, he’d be having to do some running soon, since there were still plenty of competitors all over the place. Wanting to be prepared, he chugged some of it, then set the bottle back into his bag. Stealing a glance at his Royale Gear, no one seemed to be fairly close if he were to try scouting for his partners. Better make a break for it while I still can…

Stealthing through the current area he was in, Lev could hear in the distance what sounded like battling. Initially, he planned to turn right around and go the opposite way, but the familiar voice of Allie calling a command was enough for him to keep going. As he got closer, the young man was able to witness the very last part of the battle. Then right before the Escape Rope went off to eject her opponent, there was no time for him to react as the older teen punched her square in the face. The pained cry he heard from her was more than enough to tell the guy had gotten a pretty good hit in. Checking his Royale Gear first to see if anyone was nearby, Lev darted over towards her, announcing himself so she didn’t have to worry a foe was approaching her.

“Allie, it’s me! Lev! Just stay there for one sec”

With his first-aid kit in hand, while he trusted her to be tough, that was a pretty hard punch the guy had thrown. Hopefully they didn’t break anything...

Rohan received his Pokégear as he started heading through the starting point. It was extremely easy for him to go swipe through the Pokégear since he had one as a kid before it broke. Looking at the map, he noticed some red dots scattered around. Thinking they were other competitors, he tried maneuvering past them so he didn’t get caught. He really needed a Pokémon at this point. If he didn’t have one, then he’ll probably be disqualified.

Suddenly, he heard a chime, making him quickly turn as he saw a pole with a Pokéball on it in a patch of long grass. Without hesitation, he quickly snatched the ball and ran off into a forest. Rohan didn’t even think of opening the ball yet, so he decided to look at it before it was the right time to use it. But something felt a little bit off. While he was walking, he heard faint noises coming from far away.
It sounded like.....crying?
No. They might’ve been crying because they lost a battle. But they would’ve been taken off by the escape rope at this point, so something was up.
Maybe they got hurt?
That’s a possibility.
No matter who it was, he had to help them out. Rohan bolted off to the direction the sound was coming from. The sound led him to a grass opening, where a girl a couple of years younger than him was crying. Because of this, he had to find out what happened. He approached the girl as he extended his hand out to help her stand up, “Hey. What happened? You get hurt or somethin?”

Shade, now exhausted and in quite a bit of burning pain from all her muscles being used in the past 30 minutes, had found her way through the forest, getting ever so closer to that red dot that seemed to be trying to get to that PokeStop. When she finally made it past the brush, she saw a little cabin and a familiar guy with blue hair darting into the cabin. Smiling wide, she hopped about in place and quietly sneaked up towards the cabin. Now, she knew this was a bad idea, so she wasn't going to scare the poor thing. She just whispered through the quiet:

"Yo, Robin, it's Shade."

She peered around the corner and waved at him, hoping she didn't scare him.

What she didn't notice was a group of red dots coming in from the north. She just knew that someone was here and luckily that was Robin. She didn't seem too concerned about company, although she should be from the group she had a brief meeting with earlier. She stood up and waited for Robin to get what he needed from the PokeStop, if he could find the darn thing, while also being on high alert. Even though she had no idea more people were coming, she couldn't stop being vigilant, not once. She already had her guard lowered for a few minutes getting here, so she shouldn't waste any time trying to reconcile.

Acacia was making his way through the forest, trying to find a way out. Unfortunately, his comically bad sense of direction caused him to continuously wander in circles, with him never the wiser. “Man this Forest sure is huge.” He sighed to Salandit as they practiced battle against trees in order to familiarize himself with his new pokemon’s Moves.

The seemingly mindless wandering around and blindly attacking trees that he had been observing for hours led a competing trainer, Kai, to believe this kid had been poisoned and was hallucinating. Kai was a skrawny 30 year old man who had spent his life trying to make it big in Pokémon battling. While he was capable of defeating some Gym leaders, his limited abilities prevent him from ever making a name for himself. From the moment he saw Acacia in the main area, he was determined to defeat the young star and finally become famous. He saw this as his best opportunity to defeat a Pokémon league champion and revealed himself from hiding to confront the trainer who represented his failed dreams. “Hey idiot, did ya get poisoned or something?” He called out and sent the Poliwhirl he received to the field. “I guess it doesn’t matter, I, Kai Huzo, will defeat a Pokémon league champion right now! Poliwhirl Bubblebeam!” The tadpole Pokémon looked back at his new trainer, a bit worried, but then reluctantly shot a bubblebeam towards the trainer and his Salandit.

“Woah!” Acacia was caught off guard by the attack that he had Salandit jumped away from just in the nick of time. He smirked upon seeing the bitter “old” man, Acacia often had to deal with older people who were angry at his success at such a young age. “Hi Kai, you seem to know me so I wonder, what made you think you could win?” He tried to keep his composure for gaining sponsors from nearby cameras, but was internally flustered as this man just revealed information he was trying to keep secret. “Flame Burst!” The small lizard Pokémon launched a fireball at the Poliwhirl. The blue Pokémon used its arms to shield himself from the attack, but still took minor damage.

“Unacceptable Poliwhirl! I need to win this to become rich and famous. Don’t get hit by such a basic attack.” Kai ridiculed his innocent Pokémon. “Brick break!” Polwhirl looked sad but still carried out the attack, this time connecting with Salandit. The lizard Pokémon seemed unfazed. “What was that you weakling!? You’re a fighting type and dark is weak to fighting!” Kai berated his Pokémon with a slew of incorrect facts.

“Sheesh what an amateur, Now I know why I’ve never heard of you.” Acacia mocked his opponent. “First off, Poliwhirl isn’t a fighting type, that’s its evolution, Poliwrath. Next, Salandit isn’t dark, he’s poison, which actually resists fighting type attacks.” He spoke in a teacher voice as he lectured his opponent, noting that the kind Poliwhirl had looked saddened by the insults. “Don’t worry buddy, you’re a great Pokémon! This idiot just doesn’t recognize your potential but I’d be honored if you came with us!” Acacia had lowered himself to eye level with Poliwhirl and spoke with a light and happy cadence to the Pokémon, despite the rage burning inside him after witnessing this nobody bully his Pokémon. He held out a fist as a friendly gesture to the Pokémon. Poliwhirl’s eyes began to sparkle and he happily hopped forwards and connected his fist with Acacia’s to symbolize their new friendship. “Glad to have you.” He smiled at Poliwhirl, meaning every word.

“Now.” Acacia’s voice took a stern, almost sinister turn as he rose to look the opponent dead in the eyes. “You will never be a fraction of the trainer I am of you can’t establish a bond with your Pokémon. I mean I literally just beat you without even battling because you bullied your Pokémon into leaving. But I guess this means I won. Salandit, thief!” The black lizard dash forwards, stealing Kai’s gear (besides the rescue pack) along with Poliwhirl’s pokeball. “Bye bye.” Acacia mockingly smiled and waved as Kai vanished with a flash.

The cabin looked just as decrepit on the inside as it did on the outside, but on the barely-intact table lie the case that was the PokeStop. Score! Robin scanned his gear, and just as the case opened up a familiar voice spoke up. Looking back at the entrance, Robin found the dark-clothed lady he had allied himself with earlier looking in. The swordsman grinned.
"Well hello there! You're still alive!" Robin said cheerfully. Finally taking a look at what was inside the PokeStop, he found himself once again a little disappointed. Bread and a Dire Hit. Well, at least it was a Dire Hit. That was Robin's favorite in-battle item, even if he never really bothered using them in normal battles. Looks like he was going to have to make do with these here. Putting the loot in his bag, he wiped some of the blood from his cut off his cheek and walked back to the entrance of the cabin. For a brief moment, he considered taking the time to slap a bandage on the wound. But no, that group of five was far too close. He'd do it later.

Robin turned his attention to his purple-haired companion.
"So, how's it going for you? We should probably walk and talk, I think another group is on their way here." Robin said. Glancing down at his map, Robin began to make his way in the southeast direction, back into the woods but away from the ravine and ruined cabin PokeStop.

Allie slowly sat up, relieved that an ally had found her and not an enemy.
"I'm fine... Arceus, that hurt..." she grunted. In a small puddle nearby, she observed her reflection.
"Nothing's bleeding, but it's a pretty nasty bruise. I'll live." Her fists were clenched, as she stared where the trainer had been before he disappeared. "That sick idiot."
Meanwhile, Sylveon had recovered from the shock and was now back at Allie's side. "Syl-veon?"
"I'm fine, girl. Don't worry about me." She looked down. "He didn't give me the chance to take his Pokemon either. Sucks, but it's fine." She glanced back at Lev. "How's it gone for you so far?"

With her confirmation she’d be fine, Lev put away his first-aid kit. While he didn’t outwardly show it, he was impressed she managed to take that punch fairly well. If she’s that kind of tough, guess there won’t be much to worry about. Wonder if she was bluffing about not having a good shot at winning?...

Looking at the Sylveon for a moment, it seemed like Allie had lucked out a little better than him with her first Pokemon. The concern it showed seemed like the two were bound to have a good working relationship for the tournament. Upon asking how things had been going on his end, the young man shrugged his shoulders, with a less than thrilled look on their face.

“Well, I had an interesting first match too I guess. Some guy ambushed me at a PokeStop. They dug their Royale Gear in the ground away from the place, so I couldn’t see them on the map. I beat em, but...the Pokemon I got doesn’t seem too happy working with me”

It annoyed him just thinking about how Luxray tried to escape at every chance it got so far. The Dewott he’d won from his opponent would be helpful, but it was going to be difficult if Luxray refused to accept him. Not wanting to spend too much time out in the open, Lev glanced again at his Gear, before motioning to Allie.

“Anyway, we better get moving. Now that there’s two of us, while we look for Loki, we should try and hit up whatever PokeStops we can find. Can’t let everyone else snatch up all the items”

Seeing two nearby, one to the north of them and one to the west, both Stops had red dots heading for them. It’d be risky with those numbers if they were to split up, but at the same time, they might not have an opportunity to have two Stops this close to one another.

“Whada you wanna do Allie?” Truthfully, with how many competitors were headed towards each one, the young man didn’t feel like splitting up was the best idea. If she thought they could get to both of them though, he was more than willing to hear her out.

Rohan was about to approach the crying girl but started to run behind a tree to hide because someone else was coming to help. He thought that the other person would try and battle him by thinking he was going to "pick on the weak" and try to eliminate the girl. Overhearing the conversation, he started to walk off to the west, with the knowledge of a Pokestop being there. He kept looking at the Pokeball that contained the unknown Pokemon he got. At this point, he was eager to find out what was inside. Rohan let out a soft "Screw it." as he opened the Pokeball. Apparently....nothing came out. The inside of the ball glowed when it opened and everything. He started to think, Is this a fake ball? It can't be. If it was real, then the Pokemon would be right in front of me. Where in the world is it then? He kept thinking until he felt a little tug by his pant leg, which made him look down and jump a little by how scared he got when he made eye contact with his new Pokemon: Cacturne, the Scarecrow Pokemon. The problem is that this Cacturne felt off. It had a worried and scared face expression mixed together. Was it scared? High possibility.

Rohan bent down to the Pokemon's height, flashing a big smile. "Hello there, Cacturne! I will be your partner in this battle royale for now. My name is Rohan. Nice to meetcha!" Somehow being super nice to the human cactus didn't change its emotion. He stood up and sighed as he started to walk west again, "You might be a little bit scared as of now, but don't worry. I'll protect you." The Cacturne followed, hiding behind his pant leg again.

Shade smiled at Robin as she relaxed a bit, until he said something about a group being on their way. If so, she looked towards her PokeGear to confirm her suspicions. The group she outmaneuvered earlier had been following her trail. She wondered if one of them knew how to track because they seemed to follow the same exact path she took. Or maybe they were getting here due to there being a PokeStop marker and guessed that the red dot on their end was her.

Whatever the case may be, she also saw the group Robin was referring to. She nodded before following him, but did a light jog. "Well, ya'see, I scored a Pokemon after coming down from a tree and scared the poor guy to death on accident before taking his Pokemon as my Leavanny, who doesn't listen to me due to trust issues, was having an internal conflict for whatever reason. She's quite the sassy Pokemon, let me tell you. An odd coloration, might I add. Anyway, I then found a PokeStop in a ravine and did the most sick slide and dive from the top of the ravine to the PokeStop. Glad it had a pole, otherwise, I probably would have been hospitalized. The three guys, who I snatched the supplies from, couldn't believe what they were seeing and finally reacted as I climbed up the pole like an Ambipom and climbed the rock face out of there. But my adrenaline is starting to fade away, so we should probably hurry somewhere and rest up. I'm starting to get hungry and thirsty."

Shade made sure nobody saw them before ducking out of the clearing. It seemed like she had been living out in the woods for awhile, as she seemed to know her way around the bushes and fallen branches and twigs to make the least amount of sound and to create the least amount of movement as she crouched and made her way through quite quickly. For a woman who had been in her labs, she seemed to remember her survival skills almost like the back of her hand. Then again, once you train in that regard, it's hard to forget. Although, she did seem a bit rusty.

Robin made his way carefully through the forest, listening as Shade broke down everything that happened to her so far. He stopped and watched her walk by as she lightly explained the part where she slid down a ravine and climbed right out, talking like it was nothing. Whoa... Robin couldn't help but to smile in awe about the stunts Shade had pulled.
"Wow. That's pretty metal." Robin said, catching back up to Shade. "It's too bad about the Leavanny though, but you seem pretty chill. I'm sure you two will be able to work it out. As for me, well. My Pokemon I got was an Abra. She's a real cutie, and tougher than I thought she'd be. Luckily, she seems to know more moves than Teleport. Then I ended up running into this cowboy guy. I only won because of luck, really. Abra managed to push the Growlithe into a waterfall, which weakened it a lot. But other I haven't done anything like jumping down a ravine. Unless you count a tree branch to the face."
Robin grinned. This tournament... This was probably the most fun he's had in a while. It was fast and exciting, and the thought of not knowing what was going to happen next was totally thrilling to Robin.

Hiking a good distance away from the ruined cabin, Robin stepped over a fallen tree before checking the Royale Gear. It looked like the large group of five had turned their attention to something else and wasn't following them. They could finally take a break.
"Here should be good." Robin said, taking off his backpack and sitting down against the fallen tree. He removed the first-aid kit from his bag and turned off his Royale Gear. Using the blank screen as a mirror, he stuck a quick bandage over the cut on his cheek before turning to Shade.
"So, Ms. Shade. Where'd you learn how to dive from the tops of ravines and climb back out? Are you with the Rangers or something?" Robin asked Shade.

Well, what she did certainly sounded glamorous, but it was extremely lucky that she survived that encounter, as she didn't exactly plan ahead for all the other things that could have happened. She just gave the kid a light-hearted chuckle before listening to what happened to him. Apparently, his Abra was a very technical Pokemon, which was a good thing. Although, the thing about get smacked in the face by a tree branch made her giggle a little. Certainly it wasn't as awesome as what she had done, but it was still extremely silly to her. "I guess nature is telling you to pay attention," she responded.

As they made their way through the forest, they finally found a place to stop. Looking at her Royale Gear, she saw the three red dots were now mingling with the five from the ones that came up north. Great. Hopefully they fight it out. Shade sat against the fallen tree after taking off her backpack and setting it on her lap. Opening it, she found a granola bar and began eating it. It wasn't much, but it was something.

When Robin asked her how she did the stuff back at the ravine, she smiled. Oh good Arceus, that took her back to her childhood. Chuckling, she smiled as she recounted the experiences she had in her journeys.

"No, I'm not with the Rangers. No, but the training regimen my father had put my siblings and our Pokemon through were quite similar. He took inspiration from when he was in Almia to train us. Of course, I'm not as athletic as I could be, but training extensively like that and putting yourself in dangerous situations to see how well your body and mind can outperform in a task they have never dealt with before sticks with you. It allows your body to adapt and use reserves which you never knew you had. I also rock climbed with my sister for awhile. While I'm not so good at it, and I have gotten rusty, I was able to climb the rock face out of there, albeit slowly," Her tone became more serious now. "But if I had missed my jump, if I hadn't kept my balance as I slid down the ravine's rock face, if I hadn't put as much force into my jump as I did, I wouldn't be here. I'd be hospitalized and probably comatose. None of those concerns swam through my head before I did it. I just knew that I had to do this risky thing right. And I did. Fear is what keeps us from doing great things, but fear also is what keeps us safe. I don't know if I would have been able to do that if I had thought about what I was doing. If I hadn't trusted my instincts and training and I had trusted my logic instead, I would have faltered and not done it."

Glancing over at the fallen tree, she can see a glint of a lens within the cracks of the wood. Smirking at it, she winked at it before continuing. "Although, I have actually forgotten that hidden cameras and microphones are a thing. I wouldn't be surprised if the Royale Gear has its own mic. If people want to vote for me, then fine, but there are other people out in the tournament that need it more than I do. I'm a thirty-year-old woman who has seen and gone through some dastardly things - a normal competition like this is basically nothing. The only thing I gotta worry about is where to take a piss without a camera viewing me, my food rationing, my Pokemon possibly disobeying me, and any participants here that are in this competition because they want blood and money."

Looking at the two PokeBalls that held her only Pokemon at the moment, she began to think about the Pokemon she had. She missed them, but she was doing this for them. Releasing the Delcatty, the Prim Pokemon laid by her side. While Shade was still a little hungry, she still gave a piece of granola to the Delcatty, who ate it promptly. She then released Foli, her autumn leafed Leavanny. The sassy Pokemon looked at her with confusion before Shade offered her a piece of granola. The Leavanny just crossed her arms and looked away, while Shade deadpanned. "Foli, you need to eat to keep your strength up. If you don't eat, you won't perform as well as you'd like. Come on now. If you won't take it from my hand, then here." She set the granola piece on her backpack and she pushed it towards Foli with a soft kick, so as to not drop the granola bar.

Foli, if she had eyebrows, would raise one. Why was this trainer so persistent in taking care of her? There couldn't be other trainers like her former one that would do those things, right? Foli was beginning to doubt herself and fiddled with the tag instinctively without paying any attention to what she was doing.

That was when Shade figured out her malfunction. Foli loved her trainer and didn't trust anybody else to perform in the same level as her trainer. Interesting. This was especially common with Pokemon that were a little spoiled and sheltered by one trainer, to which they've known all their life and never had any proper interactions with other people.

Now that Shade figured that out, she smiled. "Foli, if you are thinking that I am trying to best your trainer for whatever reason, then no, that's not what I am doing. You are not my Pokemon, you are still his Pokemon. I am not going to take that away from you. But what I do need is your cooperation, and until we get out of here, I will take care of you to the best of my ability. Not all trainers can be like your trainer, but some treat their Pokemon with love, compassion, and respect. I'm one of them, regardless if they are mine or not. You may think on that for as long as you'd like and you don't have to trust me completely or even respect me for that matter. But your cooperation would be greatly appreciated."

As Shade finished, Foli seemed quite upset. She was mainly upset for being founded out so quickly. She looked at the proffered granola bar and slowly took it before eating it. But now she had to think... Alone. She gave a solemn look at Shade before running off into the brush and jumping up trees. Some ways away, her leg could he seen dangling from a branch as she contemplated what Shade had said.

Shade sighed and shook her head. She was going to give her some space. In the meantime, she scratched Delcatty's ear and head before returning to Robin. "Don't mind her. She's conflicted and misses her trainer dearly. Let her think. She'll come back to me soon. If something bad happens to us, she will come. I am sure of it. Although, it's funny that she didn't so much as notice you. I think she was still preoccupied with trying to get me to release her," she chuckled before hooking the strap of her backpack and dragging it back to her before she set it on her lap again.

Rohan kept looking down at his Gear as he was walking west, finding an area with small and short hills, with a road going through them. He looked around and saw what he was looking for: the Pokéstop. He went over to the stop and opened it up, finding two revives and two super potions. He was very close to grabbing the items until he was startled by an upcoming challenger.

“Hello, big boy~. Watcha doin' all by yourself?” The person said in a flirty fashion. Rohan turned around to look at the challenger. The person was a woman, two to three years above his age, wearing a long orange dress and blue dress shoes.

“I’m taking what I found inside the Stop. You got a problem with that?” He stood up as he stared at the woman, with Cacturne still hiding behind his pant leg.

“Those items are supposed to be for me so I can win! Don’t take ‘em!” She started to raise her voice at him, thinking it would convince him to stay away from the items.

“Finders keepers. You’re starting to get on my nerves, so please go away.” He started to get a little bit ticked off by how annoying she was getting.

“Hmm...how about this? Let’s have a battle. If I win, I get to keep that scaredy-cactus you call a Pokémon AND the items. If you win, you get my Pokémon and the items. Capiche?”
The woman eyed the Cacturne as she took a Pokéball from her bag.

At this point, Rohan got upset by the statement she made about his Cacturne. He backed off a couple of steps, having the cactus in front of him. It was shaking violently. “If it’s a battle you want, then a battle is what you get. Let’s go.”

“Hehe~! I knew you’ll do it.”
She grinned as she tossed the ball into the air, “It’s time to shine, my little Minccino!” The little Chinchilla Pokémon popped out of the ball and landed in a fancy fashion as it started to run over to the human cactus to use Tail Slap. Cacturne, being as scared as he is, panicked and used Spiky Shield without giving the time for Rohan to react, making the Minccino take damage to herself when it made contact with the shield.

“Awesome! You have Spiky Shield! That might come in handy later on, buddy.” Rohan smiled at Cacturne as he tried giving it orders. “Now quickly, Cacturne, use Needle Arm!” The cactus quickly got rid of the Spiky Shield as its arm glowed green with spikes as it punched the chinchilla, sending it back with some force. From that alone, the move probably did a lot of damage.

The Minccino quickly got up from the ground, looking really hurt. “That’s right, my cutie! Don’t give up now. Now, Wake-Up Slap the Cacturne!” The trainer shouted to the fluffy Pokémon. Minccino started to charge at the Cacturne again, with her tail glowing a faint bronze color. She jumped up and started spinning rapidly as it fell from the sky.

Wait...wait...wait...NOW! He waited until it was the right time. “Sucker Punch!” The spiky Pokémon dodged the attack with the Wake-Up Slap almost hitting him, and blindly punched Minccino, hitting it to the ground as it rolled and rolled until it hit a tree. Minccino has fainted. That was a relatively short battle for Rohan's first fight.

With a big sigh of relief, Rohan grabbed the items from the Stop and put them in his bag. The challenger, on the other hand, started to act all emotional to try and make him feel bad. "You jerk! I was supposed to win this battle! You really hate women, do you?" She kicked Minccino's Pokeball to Rohan as she vanished in less than a second.

He picked up the ball and walked over to the fainted Pokemon, using one of his two revives on it. Remembering what that trainer said before she vanished, he replied to the answer as he sent his new Minccino into her Pokeball. "I don't hate women. I just dislike the ones that try to act like they're beautiful and fail convincing other people like me to get what they want." He looked down at Cacturne, who still had a worried expression on his face. He smiled as he said to Cacturne, "Don't worry about what people think about you. What that trainer said about you being a "scaredy-cactus" is not true. You're brave. You fought back against Minccino instead of standing there like it's the end of the world. You handled that fight like a champ, which means your bravery is improving!" Rohan held out a fist at the Cacturne, in which it replied with a wide smile as he fist-bumped Rohan.

Huh. So her father put her and her siblings through a training regiment when they were kids? He sounded like a pretty good guy if he was able to teach them to train alongside her Pokemon. Robin found that doing that was a much better way of training. Not only did it let you get physically closer to your Pokemon and get physically stronger, it felt like he had a much closer bond with his Pokemon. Robin nodded along with what Shade was saying, crossing his arms and taking a bite of an apple that had been in his bag. Now was a good of a time to eat as any. He chuckled when the purple-haired woman listed off the many things she had to worry about.
"Yeah. Just those few things. Nothing big or anything." Robin joked with a grin.

The swordsman watched as the Leavanny quickly darted off in a bit of a huff. He simply shrugged when Shade pointed out the Pokemon hadn't really noticed him.
"I don't blame her for missing her trainer. It's only been a few hours, and I'm already missing my Pokemon." Robin said, his cheery tone starting to come down a little bit. "It's kinda funny, but this tournament's probably going to be the longest I've gone without my Pokemon. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, since I was leaving them with a friend. I said goodbye before I headed out, told 'em it was only going to be a few days. But I... I still miss them, y'know?"
Robin sat quiet for a moment. For a second, the whole tournament felt surreal. Like instead of this, it was just another day in the backcountry and Cherry would peek her head up, ready for whatever adventures they had waiting for them.

Snapping out of his thoughts, he smiled at Shade.
"Well, it's kinda silly. Anyway, I should probably let my Pokemon get some air as well." Robin said. Taking the two Pokeballs, the Growlithe and Abra appeared in bursts of light. Upon seeing the Abra, the Growlithe began to growl. The Abra, on the other hand, was sleeping. It looked like the Growlithe it hadn't forgotten the fight with the Psychic type.
"Hey, whoa. Calm down, buddy. You're not going to be fighting Abra." Robin said to the Growlithe. The dog Pokemon looked at the psychic cat before barking happily, jolting the the Abra awake. The Growlithe playfully tackled the Abra, attempting to lick it. Letting out a small his, the Abra teleported up into a tree. From it's perch, it glared down at the Growlithe before pawing at it and hissing quietly again. The Growlithe quickly bounded over to the tree, barking up at the Abra happily and his tail wagging quite fiercely. But upon seeing that the Abra didn't want to play, the Growlithe turned his attention to the rest of the area. Seeing Shade, the Growlithe gave Robin a questioning look.

"She's a friend too." Robin said to the Growlithe. Letting out a happy bark, the Growlithe quickly ran over to Shade attempted to jump on her and lick her face. As the Growlithe ran past, Robin was able to get a glance of the name tag on the collar. Dirk was the Pokemon's name.

The Raichu snickered and used Speed Swap again to revert them both to normal. Neo slowly walked over and greeted its new partner. "Hello! I'm Neo, and I'm gonna be your trainer for now okay?" The Pokemon rolled its eyes. "Rai Rai... Chu-rai...," it said in an uncaring tone. Suddenly a trainer walked up that was much older than Neo. He was wearing mascara and had purposely dyed his hair jet-black. He also had a leather jacket and looked like he was trying to be edgy but couldn't. "Hey. You and me. Battle. Now." Neo eagerly accepted as he asked Raichu to come forward. The man sent out a Klefki, and Neo snickered a bit to himself. The man noticed and said, "What? Fairy-type has the power of the MOON. Fairies are-are cool, okay!? Klefki, use Fairy Lock!" The Key Ring Pokemon sent a pink orb into the sky and then shot a pink translucent key along with it. The key, when touching the orb, caused the orb to shatter and a pink mist surrounded the battlefield. When the mist faded, a pink lock-shape appeared in front fo the trainers and their Pokemon which then closed, locking everyone in.

The PokeGear listed Raichu's moves and Neo commanded Raichu to use Fake Out. The Mouse Pokemon dashed to Klefki and clapped its hands in front of it, releasing a small shockwave that hit and stunned the Steel/Fairy-type. Raichu moved on its own and used Shock Wave to knock the other Pokemon back. Klefki retaliated with Thief, which hit for super-effective damage. The Key Ring Pokemon used Fairy Wind from a close range, but Raichu dodged and hit back with Hidden Power. Orbs appeared around the Electric/Psychic-type that were enveloped with heat. They scattered in every direction, and one hit the Key Ring Pokemon that was knocked back into the Fairy Lock boundaries. This bounced it back towards Raichu, who used Wild Charge to trap Klefki between the boundary and Raichu. Klefki fainted as it fell to the ground and the locks reappeared and unlocked. "Well, it looks like I win!"

Shade just chuckled at his joke about her worries. She looked out over at the Leavanny's only uncovered leg from the tree as she listened to Robin talk about how he missed his Pokemon. She just weakly chuckled at that and looked down, sadness veiling her eyes. "I always had Pokemon with me, specifically my Birth Pokemon, an Alolan Raichu, who stayed as a Pichu until I started journeying around Alola. It feels... Very intimidating. Heh, I'm thirty years old and I practically bawled my eyes out like a frustrated newborn while on the boat here because I missed my Pokemon and my family so much. I felt so vulnerable, ya know? You don't feel true loneliness until you don't have your Pokemon with you, especially when you rely on them a little to get your strength and courage. Hell, that probably goes with anything you find comfort in and it's always been with you to always give you that sense of motivation and emotional support to try your best. That can really make or break a person..."

She sighed a little before snapping into a more cheery attitude as she smiled back at Robin. She then watched as Growlithe and Abra were revealed and they began interacting with each other. The Abra was not having it and fled off somewhere. Odd that the Abra was acting like a feline Pokemon, they are usually more fox-like. Seeing that the Growlithe was disappointed in not gaining a play mate in Abra, he then looked over to the lady. Then an explosion of energy happened to bound right into Shade's lap as the Puppy Pokemon began licking her face. Shade just laughed a little as she kept the Pokemon from licking her mouth and ruffled his fluffy, soft fur in a quick motion. This usually tend to energize most canine Pokemon, but she wasn't so sure about how this one would respond. Feeling a collar, she looked at the tag between licks and saw the name. What a nice name for an extremely happy Pokemon.

Giggling, Shade just playfully headbutted the Growlithe's head in a non-damaging matter. It was something she picked up from her Houndoom when he was just a Houndour. He would playfully headbutt her leg or her chest whenever he was showing affection and wanted to play. It was quite cute.

So cute, she forgot all about the tournament, all about dangerous people lurking around the corners, all about the prize she could receive from winning. She felt better about everything that was happening to her. Man, a cuddly Pokemon really heals a person, don't they?

The Growlithe drew back when Shade headbutted him, staring at this human with a mix of awe and surprise. This human... was speaking his language! His energy seemed to double as he jumped around excitedly, barking happily and riled up from Shade's petting. He was making quite a commotion. In full play mode, Dirk attempted to lightly tackle Shade once again. This time, the Growlithe was aiming more to play wrestle with Shade. Robin couldn't help but to smile at the cute scene. This lady really had a way with Pokemon on a level that Robin had seen only very rarely.

"So, any ideas on where we should head to next? Should we stick to the woods or try to head out?" Robin asked. He grabbed his Royale Gear as he finished his snack, making a quick glance around the nearby area for any possible competitors.

(completely forgot about this haha)
Allie glanced down at her PokeGear. "I really don't know. I say we stick together - we did team, after all, and there's no point if we're not together. Other than that, it's a gamble. We don't know how strong the competitors are, or what Pokemon they have. Sylveon here can take on a lot of things but Poison or Steel types will be a problem."
The Pokemon, upon hearing this, placed a ribbon in front of Allie's mouth, obviously silencing her. "Ve-veon-ve."
Sylveon's eyes glowed blue, and orbs of psychic energy materialized in the air before disappearing again.
"Psyshock. Guess that takes care of Poison, then..." Allie corrected herself. "Fire might be a difficult one too."

Shade just giggled some more after seeing Dirk look back in awe. She then got on her hands and knees and playfully lurched her body forward a bit to tackle the Growlithe as he came in with his own little playful tackle. She then tried to paw him while having a playful growl escape from her throat. Her arms were extended out in a playful gesture as she bounded her arms side to side, her knees firmly planted in place. This energy caused the Delcatty at Shade's side to leave and promptly lay herself next to Robin, resting.

Looking back at Robin, she took a moment from her play time with Dirk before figuring out where to go. If people were smart, they'd go for the forest to hide out once they grab the things they need and they can set up shop in a tree or in a small clearing. She wouldn't be surprised if the people who they had fled from had taken the shack as a home base for them to relax and take up a more defensive position.

After a few moments of playing with Dirk, she responded to Robin in between rushed breaths. "Well, people would like to start setting up in a good place they could easily fortify. A forest is an amazing place to do so if you know what you are doing. I know people here will play defensively. It would be smart to keep on the move and get the even harder PokeStops, especially now that we are partnered up and we each have two Pokemon which would make it easier for us to nab them. See any baddies on that gear?"

Meanwhile, Foli, the autumn-leaved Leavanny, sat there on a tree branch, holding her collar and sighing. Deep in thought, she could hear a Growlithe and someone playing with each other. Looking back she noticed how amazing her temporary trainer was with someone else's Pokemon. Was she like this to everyone's Pokemon? Maybe she should give her trainer a chance. She was right, Shade wouldn't try to take Foli's former trainer's place as her trainer. Still, a part of her felt like Shade was only nice, so that she could win. Was that even true? Then again, why would she play around with another guy's Pokemon if she was so focused on winning?

She was so stuck in her own thoughts, that she needed to walk some. Looking back again, she saw Shade was still playing with Dirk. Maybe she wasn't her trainer, but she was a trainer who had showed her enough kindness and understanding and respect that most people wouldn't consider giving. She had to think some more.

Getting up, she began pace about the tree branches. If she's not careful, she could be found by another group of people and they could gang up on her.

“Sounds like a plan”

As Allie ran through her concerns on what Pokemon might give Sylveon trouble, Lev held out the Pokeballs that contained his Luxray and newly obtained Dewott. Offering a reassuring smile, his Pokemon could cover her type weaknesses.

“If that’s all you’re worried about, then I’ve got ya covered. We’ll tear through the rest of the competition”

Checking his PokeGear again, the Stop to the west seemed like it had more activity than before. With the one up north looking a little safer, the young man turned and started heading in that direction.

“Alright, let’s see what we can find up this way. You can have whatever’s there. I’d rather you take em till you can get another Pokemon. After that, we can try looking for Loki, and see how he’s holding up”

With that, he began running off in the direction of the northern PokeStop, hoping they wouldn’t be too late in getting there. As he did, pain began to course through his body. Wincing, he was glad he had gone on ahead to prevent Allie from seeing it. Stupid arm...now’s not the time to act up, get it together...
