Pokemon Conquest RP Discussion

A few days ago, Stel, Rex, Red, and myself thought that a Conquest-esque PRP would be pretty sweet. Here's a few of the rules we came up with:

Chat discussion will take place in #sho

Each warrior can link with up to 6 Pokemon.

You may have a maximum of two Warlords, and any number of Vagrants/Warriors to serve under them or roam freely.

The Warlords and Kingdoms from Conquest are not present, so feel free to make up the name of your own Kingdom(s).
Your Warlords may link with a legendary later on in the RP. The approved list is:
Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latias, Latios, Heatran, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Cresselia, Darkrai, Shaymin, Regigigas, Manaphy/Phione, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Keldeo, Meloetta, Victini

Some battles can't be decided by Pokemon. In such a case, the Warriors in question will have an honorable duel using weapons. This is not required for everyone, but please do try to keep the weapons to what would be used in Feudal Japan.

Name: Sho Mitsunaga

Appearance: To be drawn/sprited~
History: Born into a period of war, he's known almost nothing but battle. Raised in the kingdom of Malignia, he was a loyal retainer to the former king, Sakai Shima. The kingdom fell into ruin when Sakai passed away, and Sho stepped forward to rebuild the kingdom anew, with himself as king. Not long into his new position, he eagerly marched into battle with a neighboring kingdom and suffered terrible losses - a result of his focus on the battle itself instead of having an actual strategy. Since then, he acquired a brilliant strategist to help compensate for his pseudo-warmongering.
Personality: Being forged in the crucible of war, he has become almost obsessed with Pokemon battles to the point where he sometimes needs to be reminded that going into battle at a certain time will not be beneficial. He doesn't seek battle for glory or to expand territory, he just does it for the fun, and it has costed him in the past. Outside of the battlefield, he can be quite entertaining with his jolly sense of humor, a stark contrast to his stoic presence in the warzone.

Name: Ryoko Kitamura
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Appearance: To be drawn/sprited~
History: Ryoko was once a vagrant, but joined the kingdom of Montagion in order to keep a steady paycheck. Eventually, she came to harbor a fondness for some of the people in the kingdom, especially for its leader.
Personality: She is very independent for being in a ninja corp, and frequently does her own thing when on group missions. She's very serious, and does not seem to understand jokes and sarcasm. The only repite is her devotion to Sho Mitsunaga, for whom she has romantic feelings. She keeps it hidden very well, but on the rare occasion that somebody notices, she becomes very flustered and will leave the area.

Appearance: Skin is powdered white; hair is black and kept in a tight bun. She wears a regal pink kimono, along with red lipstick.
Personality: Observant, keen, and highly intelligent. Lady Suzuki did not reach her rank easy, and she is quite adept at taking care of things. However, she has a very hands off approach, delegating most of the footwork to her subordinate Tarou Hayashi. Perhaps she could be considered lazy. She considers herself a scholar, and is somewhat obsessed with honor, a trait which rubs off on her second.

History: A bastard son, the black sheep of his family. Tarou was taken in by Satomi when he was thirteen and she had just become the Warlord. It was quite the honor for one such as him, and he has since dedicated his life to service under her flag.

Well, here's my gang of oddities for now. Others may happen later.

Name: Rinji Hoshikawa
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Appearance: (To Be drawn/designed)
Personality: The Hoshikawa clan has long since promoted a balance between the study of nature's ways and creative, artistic expression of one's imagination - intertwining the two into a greater whole. Rinji is a follower of this way, having a great passion for both - reflecting in the nature of his kingdom. Sylvanastra is a realm of natural beauty - of forests, rivers, waterfalls and the kind of Pokemon that can be found in such environs - and of science, scholars and advanced technology, often built in a manner that mimics nature. Rinji is largely peaceful - his primary concern is for his kingdom and its inhabitants (Human and Pokemon alike) and he no ambitions of conquest and rulership. If threatened, however, he would respond in kind, and rather thoroughly. He is confident in his abilities but not over-confident - and is very open to suggestions and ideas (provided they make sense!) from people who may have more experience.
History: Rinji became the Warlord of Sylvanastra by virtue of birthright - the Hoshikawa clan has ruled Sylvanastra since its founding - and has proven to be a competent warlord instilled with the values of his clan. He has been rather concerned about the growing unrest in the region lately.

Name: Yanagi
Gender: Female
Age: 27
Appearance: Freckled, green-eyed, with long, tied back auburn-hair. Several strands on her fringe are dyed green. Her physique can be described as willowy and athletic. She is often clad in light armor designed to impede her mobility and stealth as little as possible while still providing protection. Often has two green stripes drawn under her eyes.
Personality: In the company of trusted allies and friends she can be very casual and laid back. Others either don't see her (she prefers to stick to the shadows and observing - and she is very good at what she does) or see a more dangerous, ominous side of her. Regardless of company though, she is sharp and witty. She spends quite a bit of her personal time training - often sparring with Pokemon herself - usually her own partner, though sometimes they team up and tackle wild ones. Like most of the Sylvanastra elite, she is very much in tune with nature - and is particularly deadly in forests. She is fiercely loyal to her friends and allies.
History: Yanagi and Rinji have been close friends - and sparring partners - since childhood - a relationship that continues to this very day (They often joke that he watches her back and she keeps him on his toes). As such, he has been training her as his second: she is the only person he trusts to rule Sylvanastra should something happens to him and the Hoshikawa line ends.

Name: Saiyuri Hayabusa
Gender: Female
Age: 30
Appearance: She has short-cut dark hair and piercing steel-grey eyes. Her physique is tall, toned and rather imposing, and her full armor (composed of Pokemon-derived bio-steel, and ergo light and tough) certainly contributes to the image. There is an old scar on her right cheek going up from her chin to just under her eye. She does not speak of its source - and people know better than to ask.
Personality: Tough as nails, quick-thinking and with a sarcastic edge, Saiyuri is a no-nonsense soldier. Her battlefield experience and quick insights have earned her command of Sylvanastra's airborne division.
History: Saiyuri Hayabusa caught Rinji's attention rather early on. When he inherited the rulership over Sylvanastra the kingdom was under threat of invasion from a neighboring kingdom. Several attacks have already been repelled but the threat remained - and Rinji decided it was time to take the offensive. His initial attack strategy had a few holes in it - holes which Saiyuri Hayabusa pointed out with several potential solutions. Seeing as she actually had frontline experience, Rinji chose to listen to her suggestions - and the modified attack plan was an overwhelming success. She showed impressive leadership skills in this battle and others - a feat that earned her her current position. Rinji considers her one of his most trusted advisors.

Name: Yori Kimiyawa
Gender: Male
Age: 23
Appearance: Medium length black hair that just reaches his shoulders. He has fair skin, and generally wears brighter colors, normally green.
Personality: Yori is a generally pleasant individual. He is generally kind to anyone he meets without discrimination, and especially loves those that listen to his songs. He becames quite irritated by those who won't listen or don't like it, however. Combined with his Chatot's habit of singing horribly off-key, he gets this way rather often.
History: Yori grew up in Sylvanastra, and always loved listening to the natural sounds that filled the air. It was the mornings where he could hear Starly and Swablu chirping away so happily that inspired him to learn music. He picked up the shamisen, a stringed instrument. After becoming incredibly proficient in the instrument, he decided to set off from Sylvanastra at the age of nineteen and travel the different kingdoms. It was along the way that he linked with a Chatot, whom he thought sounded amazing in its own way. Unfortunately, this made him known as the warrior who could drive the enemy mad through song, which was not what he expected at all.
Rank: A vagrant. He works wherever he stops off at.

Warrior Skill: He can play different tunes that can help his allies move faster along with a variety of other effects. When combined with his Chatot, he can affect both ally and enemy alike.

Weapon: He carries some knives hidden on his being, just in case. His shamisen can double as a bludgeoning instrument as well, but then he usually has to get it repaired.

Name: Takeshi Fukui
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Appearance: Black hair pulled back into a relatively short ponytail. He has dark eyes and usually a relatively stern look on his face. His facial features are sharp and give him a bit of a haunting look. He wears brown and black armor with the Fighting symbol on his shoulders.
Personality: Takeshi is very stern and expects the best from his men and their Pokemon, as well as from himself. He takes full responsibility for what happens on the battlefield, whether good or bad. He is man who values honor above all else and wants to prove his worth. Having focused so readily on becoming a Warlord he has never really developed social skills, so he often has a hard time connecting with his warriors.
History: Takeshi was hand-picked from a young age to be a future Warlord and was taken away from his family to begin his training. For the majority of his life he has lived as a member of the military and cares simply about serving his country. For the majority of his training he was not allowed to have a partner Pokemon, but upon his successful exam and victory over the reigning Warlord Takeshi was given the Pokemon whom would become his partner.

Name: Jurou
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Appearance: Unkempt hair and dress. Jurou's hair falls about wildly over the thick head band he wears. He wears old, outdated armor that is pieced together from various sets he has gathered in his travels. His hair is a lighter shade of brown and he has brown eyes. He is a tall and large man, but it's obvious upon looking at him that he doesn't have a regular eating schedule. His facial features are a bit sunken in and his ribs are far too bare for somebody his size.
Personality: Jurou is used to being by himself, as he travels from Kingdom to Kingdom in search of work and fights for whomever pays him fairly. While in the employ of an army he keeps everyone at arms length so that when the times comes that he may have to meet them on the battle field he'll show no mercy against them. Jurou is a bit promiscuous in nature, as well as a trouble-maker and has been kicked out of more than one Kingdom for starting trouble while there.
History: Jurou was born to parents who didn't want him and was abandoned at the age of five. He lived on the streets for several years, and fell in with a group of other homeless boys. At age eleven he and some older boys ran off join a vagrant army. The army was strapped for soldiers and Pokemon, so they were willing to let the boys help them ransack villages, pillaging goods and Pokemon from their victims. Jurou journeyed with this group of vagrants for a few years, when their activities drew the army of Kitanogeeto to squash them out. Nearly their entire group was killed or taken prisoner. Jurou was able to escape, and fled the realm.

He began to take up other vagrant work, joining various groups and militaries. However, he never stuck around or formerly joined up with any of these factions.

Name: Howl
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Appearance: Short, choppy hair and dark steely grey eyes framed by a fierce brow and blunt fringe of hair creates a serene look in her face while maintaining her cool composure and the wily glint in her eye.
Personality: Gritty and hardheaded, Howl clawed her way up from the dredges and the streets and has learned the value of strength and power, thus leading her to have become a wise and just Warlord. To those closest to her, she is witty and sharp with a wide smile, a big heart, and a laid back attitude.
History: Born Adela Conta to a young couple fleeing their home for the Ransai region, Howl was raised as a native of the kingdom Ryuunin and accepted amongst the population as such. As a result, when she reached the fresh age of twenty, she was very deeply intertwined with the citizens of the kingdom who had for so long been oppressed under the thumb of the reigning warlord and his bloodline. So when it came to be that the elderly lord passed away to leave his legacy to his son, very few were surprised that the youth had amassed an army from the people, strong and willful enough that she was able to swiftly defeat the young lord and take up his mantle, gaining his respect and loyalty in the process. Her name, Howl, was given to her by the people she loved, who knew her best first as a shadowy whisper with her pack of renegades, and later as the strong voice of the kingdom that commanded an army from within the ranks.

Name: Ryang Irie
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Appearance: TBD
Personality: Competetive, brilliant, but somewhat lazy. Often scolded as a child for lacking ambition, it's rumored that the kingdom's greatest strategist could not have been taken from his throne if he had not wanted it to be so, but when approached about it the former prince explains quite plainly that the attack was one he had not predicted, as a result of his family spending so much time distancing itself from the people they ruled over - the surprise attack gave the kingdom little time to prepare for an assault from within their own walls. That said, he seems content to serve at the right hand of the current warlord as her greatest asset, and greatest rival.
History: Born into greatness and polished for the throne all his life, with all that he had to live up to it was little surprise that the young Ryang was hesitant to take up the throne of the kingdom when his father passed, though for the brief period he ruled he had staged several wildly successful attacks of his own upon neighboring kingdoms and had started the people believing that a new era of increased prosperity was upon them. When he lost the throne to the heart and leader of his own people, however, that success did not wane as he quickly took up a position more suited to his personality, working in the shadow of the young upstart.

Name: Rein Vanguarde

Age: 21
Appearance: Short, black hair, emerald-green eyes. Stands at six feet tall and lean, wears a set of black and yellow armor themed after an Umbreon.
Personality: Initially distrustful and wary of strangers, it usually takes a while to break through his slight paranoia that nothing will ever go right. Cold toward his enemies and strict with his warriors, only the people in his innermost circle see a warmer side to him.
History: As the son of a pair of outcasts, Rein was never fully welcomed into the society of his home kingdom of Umbrimago, until he began to make a name for himself in battle. When the warlord fell ill, he asked for Rein by name to take over for him. Rein knew next to nothing of strategy and thus named his sister, Alice, as his adviser and second-in-command.

Age: 26
Appearance: Long blue hair, and emerald-green eyes. Stands at 5'5" and slender, she wears a black and blue floral kimono under a purple chestplate.
Personality: Compared to her brother, Alice is much warmer and open, and is much more the diplomatic side of the kingdom, however, if her brother is threatened, she becomes like a vicious predator.
History: Her parents never cared much for her or her brother, and as such she raised Rein much by herself, and tried to keep them on good terms with the rest of the kingdom. She was smart and quickly realized that if Rein were to survive he would need to join the army, though his prowess surprised even her. When he assumed command of the kingdom, she gladly accepted the role of his second-in-command.

I suppose I should post an update about this. A little while ago Sho said that he lost interest in doing this RP, so he's left us.

If everyone else that has expressed interest still wants to do it, then all we need is somebody else to step up and "run" it. (Though I don't even know if we had a plot of any kind before Sho left :x)

Thanks for the warning, but it won't happen. The reason that I've been AWOL for the last few months was a family matter that kinda ate up all my life and stuff, and there was very little time for creative ventures, but luckily that is all good and done, so I'm back for the foreseeable future :'D
