Open Pokémon: Interstellar - Discussion Thread

Hello, reader! Thanks for stopping in to check out this rp idea. I'm recently returning from a multi-year hiatus on writing, and I dearly missed sharing the experience of crafting a story with others, so I'm hopeful I can get a few of you to join me on this adventure in rekindling my writing passion! Without further ado, the plot.

Interstellar is a multi-region spanning story taking place in the world of Pokémon, eight decades after the events of Sword and Shield (not including gen 9 yet for game spoiler reasons but your OC can be from Paldea). Life as we know it on Earth has become a paradise in a way, humans and Pokémon living in near perfect harmony and helping each other to achieve an easier way of living; the economy is well, crime is on the decline, and most folks have it good nowadays. However, as seems to be pattern in the world of Pokémon, peace can never last forever. Looming in the background are the dark remnants of the past.

Biding their time and awaiting their moment to shine again is Team Interstellar, a combined force of multiple evil organizations, headed by the descendants of the villains defeated by the series protagonists long ago. The new Team Rocket, Team Plasma, Team Galactic, and Team Flare have joined together in an attempt to realize what they view as their forefathers dreams; A new world in which they are at the top. Each with their own ideals and motives, the four powerhouse groups are about to make their first move towards their goals.

With the worlds state of readiness at an all time low, few remain with the power to stop such a powerful force. Will you join in the effort to stop this sinister group and save the world? Perhaps you'll decide you are on their side and join them? Maybe you'll craft a new story altogether, one of your own. The boundaries are essentially limitless in this completely open world rp that is open to join now!
Team Interstellar is a newly formed group led by the descendants of former evil team leaders and made up of other fanatics, specifically the likes of the new generations of Team Rocket, Galactic, Plasma, and Flare.
Each section of the group, of which there are four, are primarily focussed on their own individual goals; learning from the failures of their ancestors though, they have decided to band together for a greater chance at success.
Team Rocket is led by Giavanna, a red-haired female with a direct bloodline tying her to Giovanni. Her teams ultimate goal is to amass riches by any means necessary to control the world via financial means. They are primarily in charge of the financial side of Team Interstellar and have been using increasingly aggressive tactics to raise funds. They operate out of Kanto and eventually (later in the story) Johto.
Team Galactic is headed by a blue-haired man named Cryo, the multi-great grandson to Cyrus. Obsessed with his forefathers goal to reshape the universe, he doesn't mind including the will of the other evil teams if it means he gets what he wants. The new Plasma's are the ones taking the lead in Interstellar's scientific research. Their primary operations are in Sinnoh.
Team Plasma is another team set on ruling the world, though their leader has a different vision than that of Ghetsis. A masked man calling himself Z is at the forefront of Plasma, acknowledging that taking away the ability to own Pokémon isn't enough and is focussed on harnessing the power of Pokémon for themselves so none are able to resist their takeover. Their endeavors will begin taking place in Unova.
Team Flare is being commandeered by a blonde named Lillian, who claims to be related to Lysander openly despite an unclear lineage. The lass is assured by her own conviction that the world is corrupt and needs Interstellar to restore order between man and Pokémon. With the help of the other teams, she hopes to find a way to construct a new superweapon and use it to restart civilization in Interstellar's image. Their plans are set to take place in Kalos.
The Pokémon League in recent decades has become even more prominent and important in society, as have contests and other competitions involving the training of Pokémon. With the sudden boom in popularity within the sport of raising Pokémon to the best of their potential, gyms and the like have remained in great shape over the years and the title of Gym Leader, Elite Four, and even Champion have been passed down multiple times. This small dump of info is regarding what is and isn't allowed in the details of your Pokémon. Within reason, I hope to leave room for everyone to have unique and fun teams at their disposal and the ability to use their 'mons creatively to solve problems in the story as well as write some awesome battles! That being said, here are the rules;
•Starter Pokémon such as Squirtle, Monferno, Rillaboom, etc. are limited to one per person as they are rare. Special circumstances can be discussed.

•Shiny Pokémon are limited to one per person, regardless of how many characters you have. Try to keep them rare!

•Pokémon may have up to four moves active and ready for battle, however they may know all the moves they would learn approximate to their level or from TM's. There is no limit to how many moves total a Pokémon can know, but active moves must be decided upon before a battle begins.

•Hidden abilities are allowed, and abilities may have applicable use outside of battle if it makes logical sense. For example, a Pokémon with Storm Drain would be helpful in draining a flooded area.
•Some items are available for purchase in Pokémarts around the world and have become fairly common, however the more powerful held items are expensive and difficult to come across. Items also take wear and tear over time and can break, be stolen/lost, or require repairs.

•Unique characteristics for Pokémon are encouraged. While shinies are limited, giving your 'mon a unique pattern in their fur, a scar, or a lick of hair that stands up is a fun way to make them special.

•Natures can be ignored regarding stats for your Pokémon and instead are more focussed on how the creature actually behaves.

•Typing matters! The typing of your Pokémon will not only have an effect in battle, but in the overworld as well. Ice Pokémon cannot survive in a volcanic environment, Fire types will be weak in rain, and things like fires or strong winds will have an effect on Pokémon and their moves.

•Obviously, Pokémon from different regions are allowed and encouraged to be used. Diverse teams are great, however please try to have a good explanation as to how your character acquired these Pokémon.

That should cover everything!
•Other Rules and FAQ•
•Please be capable of writing at least a half paragraph in each of your posts.
•You may not play a descendant of a past protagonist, champion, etc. Create your own character and craft your own story!♥
•Do not create a Mary Sue/Gary Stu for this rp. Characters with no flaws or room to grow will be denied.
•Don't be scared to interact! This is a place to write together, so let's create a story we can be proud of.
•Respect other writers and interactions. Don't purposely ruin events or other writers moments for growth or development.
•Be creative! Unique characteristics, quirks, or traits are acceptable within reason for both characters and Pokémon.
•Make it make sense. Cool moments and parts of a character are awesome, but try to avoid making yourself OP or "the main character", so everyone gets a chance to shine in the spotlight.
•You don't have to stick to the main plot line! Create your own stories by giving your characters goals and challenges to overcome.
•Money is not going to have a set system, however don't abuse this. If your character is not filthy rich, play them as such.
•Travel between regions is allowed, however it is costly to book transport/strenuous on any Pokémon you may use to do so.
•Interdimensional and Time travel are off-limits without approval.
•Being a Gym Leader, E4, Champion, etc. must be discussed thoroughly before being approved.
•Multiple characters are allowed as long as you can keep track of everything.
•Have fun! If this starts to die, the last poster is responsible for bumping it with a reply.

Physical Appearance:
ff0dcddd1d57c22bb5c09beecae0a4a4.jpg

Clothing/Bag: 12× Pokéball, Escape Rope, 4× Full Restore, 2× Revive, PokEtch

Personality: A brave and somewhat cocky young man, Hazel is often the first to dive into situations that put him down the creek, way over his head. Hot-headed and fast to jump to a Pokémon battle, the young ace isn't shy to the concept of a scuffle. A great friend to have and an even worse enemy, the boy is loyal to a fault and talented in the way of battle; what he lacks in practical brains he makes up for in tactical wit. A lover of Pokémon and fascinated by the way they live, he often keeps his Pokémon outside of pokeballs and will let them for the mostpart do as they please.

Backstory: Hazel was born in Kalos, raised by his mother and father in the bustling city of Lumiose. At the age of 8, Hazel's father lost his job as a manager at the Pokémart, forcing them to move to the small town of Vaniville. Ever since, he has had a strong distaste for the chain establishment and shops elsewhere unless he absoltuely has to. At the age of 10, due to being old enough in his parents eyes to leave on his own (and definitely not because they were too poor to keep taking care of him), the young man was sent to the local Pokémon lab to recieve a starter Pokémon. In return for the rare Froakie he recieved, Hazel agreed to journey to the Sinnoh region and research the local Pokémon for the researchers. After discovering a deep connection with his partner Pokémon and a few close calls with wild encounters, the Trainer found a passion for battling and set his sights on becoming the strongest trainer in the world.

Goals: World Champion!

Starter: Froakie
Species/Type: Froakie | Water
Nickname/Level: Froth | Lv.14
Ability: Protean | Changes the Pokémon's type to the type of the move it's about to use. However, this can only be done once per time entering battle.
Item: N/A

Nature/Persona: Hasty | Froth is a very energetic and curious Froakie, despite his outward appearance of looking a bit dull upstairs. Often staring blankly into nothingness when not getting into trouble by bounding ahead of its trainer to investigate something that grabbed its attention, the little blue frog seems to be a clueless creature that relies on Hazel to keep it from getting hurt. However, the impulsive water-type is loyal to the trainer to a fault and will go out of its way to defend him, bring random objects as gifts, or even share food. It's eagerness to do these things can often lead to misunderstandings though, as the young Pokémon is more worried about pleasing his trainer than any implied consequences its actions may cause.
Unique Features: The bubble-foam around its neck rides up the back of its head slightly, giving the appearance of a small affro.
Moves: Pound | Physical, Normal | Froth slams its limbs against the enemy, inflicting damage. If used while holding a King's Rock, there is a 10% chance for the affected pokemon to flinch.

Growl | Status, Normal | Growl decreases the
Attack stat of all adjacent opponents by one stage. It does not affect Pokémon with the Abilities Soundproof, Hyper Cutter, Clear Body, White Smoke, or Full Metal Body.
If the user is affected by Throat Chop, it will be unable to use this move for two turns but if holding Throat Spray, the item will be consumed and effect negated. If powered up by a Normalium Z, user can use this move regardless of whether it was affected by Throat Chop.

Water Gun | Special, Water | The target is blasted with a forceful shot of water from Froth's mouth.

Quick Attack | Physical, Normal | The user lunges at the target to inflict damage, moving at blinding speed. This move always goes first.

Lick | Physical, Ghost | The target is licked with Froth's long tongue, causing damage with a 30% chance to also leave the target with paralysis.

Water Pulse | Special, Water | Froth attacks with a pulsing blast of water from its mouth with a 20% chance to confuse.
Species/Type: Starly | Normal-Flying
Nickname/Level: Starla | Lv.7
Ability: Keen Eye | Prevents the decreasing of accuracy through attempts at evasion raising moves like Minimize, accuracy decreasing moves like Sand Attack, and most environmental effects. Also helps the Pokémon spot small objects or make observations from far distances or in the air. If completely blinded, the ability simply does nothing.
Item: N/A

Nature/Persona: Adamant | While very headstrong and hard to persuade to do something they may not want to do, Starla is also very caring for those it cherishes. Though not quite to the degree of being stubborn, the bird 'mon isn't afraid to stand its ground and will do so whenever it feels necessary, especially if it's over something involving the wellbeing of its friends. The Pokémon loves to perch atop high places and people watch.
Unique Features: A pink ribbon is tied around her neck.
Moves:
Tackle | Physical, Normal | A physical attack in which the user charges and slams into the target with its whole body.

Quick Attack | Physical, Normal | The user lunges at the target to inflict damage, moving at blinding speed. This move always goes first.

Wing Attack | Special, Flying | The target is struck with large, imposing wings spread wide to inflict maximum damage.

Double Team | Status, Normal |
By moving rapidly, the user makes illusory copies of itself to boost its evasiveness.

Once I feel we have enough people to start, I will create a thread and starter post! The main story will have multiple starting places so feel free to start yourself in just about any region. Thanks for the read through<3

I’m definitely going to create a character or two for this when I get the opportunity to, this seems like it’d be a fun RP!

Question, does your starter Pokémon have to be an actual starter or can it be a different first-stage evolution?
Anything is on the table. First stage evolutions or mons that don't evolve are best, but other picks can be discussed.

Name: Luke Ledger
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Trainer Class (Coordinator/Battler/Breeder/etc.): Trainer
Physical Appearance: Luke is 5'11, has a mildly athletic build, and has somewhat of a tanned complexion. He has thick, short black hair and brown eyes. He dresses according to the current weather conditions. Still, he is usually seen wearing black jeans, a simple white t-shirt with a red Poke Ball logo, a lightweight black jacket, or more casual black shorts and a red Alolan tropical shirt. He also has a digital Poke Watch.
Clothing/Bag: (Optional)
Personality: Luke is a more laid-back person. He is welcoming and caring to others, but he's not the most talkative unless he has a genuine interest in being friends with someone. However, in every battle (even in simple exhibition battles), he does a complete 180. He takes battles completely seriously, teases his opponents, is overconfident and focuses entirely on victory, and expects victory to come out of every single battle, becoming very frustrated when a battle doesn't get the results he expected.
Backstory: Luke is a "dual-citizen" of Kalos and Alola and has had a relatively decent life. He picked up on becoming a trainer from his dad, who was a top trainer and had tried to become the Champion of Kalos a few times, but unfortunately lost his attempts. His dad has taught him some of the basics and has convinced Luke to become a trainer to fulfill his dream of becoming the Champion of Kalos. His mother is from Alola, and she was also a trainer but wasn't as serious about battling his father. Luke often visits and stays with his cousins in Alola, but he mainly lives in Kalos and loves both regions. He will start the RP in Kalos.
Goals: Champion of Kalos, Champion of Alola, potentially the World Champion
Starter: Rockruff (gifted by one of his cousins, has had for about two weeks from now)

I'm considering making another character, but I'll get to that tomorrow.

Rules and FAQ

Name: Hazel Kizuto

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Trainer Class (Coordinator/Battler/Breeder/etc.): Trainer

Physical Appearance:View attachment 947258

Clothing/Bag: 13× Pokéball, Escape Rope, 4× Full Restore, 2× Revive, PokEtch

Once I feel we have enough people to start, I will create a thread and starter post! The main story will have multiple starting places so feel free to start yourself in just about any region. Thanks for the read through<3
Really cool and interesting concept! I would be interested in joining!

Couple of quick questions:

1) Can we play as characters from fanmade or our own personal regions? You mentioned wanting to discuss more about being a more important character. Does this apply if we want to be a gym leader from our own region?
2) What happened to the other 'evil' organisations, you know, the ones you didn't mention. I'm talking about maybe Team Magma./Aqua, the Aether Foundation etc and groups that are evil or not outright evil like the organisation that supported Rose? What about those from the spin-off or side-games like Cipher?
3) Do we have to have a basic starter? Can we have other pokemon too? Will our characters mainly be trainers starting their journey off?

1) I'd like to keep it to canon regions, but being a Gym Leader or E4 is open to discussion for basically any of the existing regions. Fair warning though, taking on a title like that for your character means you're basically a massive shiny target for the villains of the story. There will likely be some tough interaction right out of the gate.
2) The other teams and "bad guys" at this point have all been defeated as they were in the canon storyline of games; that being said though there is nothing stopping someone from deciding to try and revive them. If someone wanted to play a Team Aqua fanatic who's trying to recruit people to the cause and get their hands on Kyogre, I say go for it.
3) Your character can be basically anything to begin with, as I want this to be a very open and collaborative writing experience. Coordinators, breeders, professors, collectors, Gym leaders, it's all on the table. As for starters, you can have any Pokémon that doesn't evolve or any first stage evolution. For Gym Leaders and E4, your team must be discussed as obviously they're going to be strong and kinda stacked.

Another question:

If our characters are starting in their own little regions, is there going to be an event that like brings them all together or something?
There will be multiple events taking place in different regions that all tie together, and at a certain point there will be a major event that brings most everyone together, obviously depending on their goals and such. Some characters may not be interested in that particular scene and end up elsewhere but everyone should intermingle eventually despite being in such a big world with so much going on.

Is there a reason why Aqua and Magma weren’t listed as part of Interstellar then? It seems kind of odd as you established that the evil teams go up until Galar and I can see why you wouldn’t put Yell or Macro Cosmos in as they are kind of ambiguous groups nor Team Skull or the Aether Foundation but Magma and Aqua are two of the main evil teams from the first few generations.

You mentioned Kyogre. Are you considering bringing legendaries into the story and if so have you got permission?

Playing as a Team Aqua Remnant/cultist with a bigger team appeals to me.

Regarding discussing about teams, what specifics do you need to know?

To put it simply their goals of reshaping the world clash with not only one another, but the other teams. The Rockets goal is to be on top financially, Galactic wants to reshape the world in their own image of what it should be, as does Team Flare, and finally Plasma simply wishes to have power under the guise of the freedom of Pokémon. All of those can go hand in hand with one another, but once you start talking about making more land for humanity to expand or ocean to wipe out civilization then it starts going off course from the other four teams' vision.

Legendaries are a possibility much later into the story, but as you mentioned permission must be granted (which at this point I haven't even inquired). It was moreso an idea thrown out there to drive the point of having writer's freedom within the bounds of the world.

For team comps if you're playing a character that would naturally have more than one Pokémon, include what Pokémon you have, their moves, abilities, any special characteristics, and of course just make sure you're keeping it reasonable. A grunt wouldn't have a shiny Dragonite off the bat the same way a Gym leader wouldn't be carrying around 6 Rattata. As long as things make sense, all should be good.

Okay. So my character I was planning on was a rich girl starting her Pokemon journey. Her starter Pokemon are gonna be a Vulpix and Sinistea, but because she's rich she went and bought a Fire Stone and acquired a Chipped Pot, and evolved her Pokemon right away. Is that okay?
Fire stone sounds fine but the Chipped Pot is a bit more rare, no? It might add more to do storyline wise as well to leave the Sinistea unevolved to begin and then evolve them by finding said pot throughout the story. A bit unusual for someone with little to no practical experience to start their journey with two fully evolved Pokémon, even if they're rich in my opinion. Seems like realistically she would have difficulty keeping them under control at first but that's my only gripe.

I would have imagined it would have been easy to incorporate the goals of Magma and Aqua as more like the final end result or threat that will happen to the world of the other teams don’t achieve their ideal change or financial boost, no? People often clump them together with the first four or five teams.

I mean, even Team Flare used a mega powerful weapon of sorts to destroy towns! Do you catch my drift? I think there’s a way of making it work if we’re going by the remnants of each faction and don’t forget, they’d probably be different leadership of each team, with their own goals, different from their founders, right?

The four "teams" that are playing the villains in this story aren't four separate teams, but rather a single team made up of four parts. The leaders of said groups all came to an agreement as to what the endgoal should be based on the similarity of their predecessor's goals, and quite frankly the expansion of land or sea doesn't quite work hand in hand with the complete destruction of earth as we know it to rebuild it. Aqua originally hated humanity and would be against the restart of society after the fact if they stick to their morals and Magma wouldn't be comfortable with the annihilation of society as it is in the first place. It just doesn't seem to fit their groups without the introduction of a character that doesn't align their morals entirely with the original teams. Galactic, Flare, Rocket, and Plasma would all benefit from a complete wipe and rewrite of the world and thus that's essentially their goal.

So who exactly leads each section of the team? And how far apart from the games will the RP be set?

So who exactly leads each section of the team? And how far apart from the games will the RP be set?
The period of time is stated in the introduction post; 8 decades after Sw/Sh events.

The "villains" will be revealed at a later date, before the RP begins, and will be easily accessible from the introduction post at the beginning of the thread along with other inportant NPC's. I'm still working on their character sheets. They will be majority controlled by me for narrative purposes but if someone has an interesting idea all I ask is that they inquire here before using the established leaders of the evil teams for their own purposes. If it fits their character and makes sense, I'm more than likely to say yes to having others use the bad guys as plot devices.

Name: Maribelle Von Valinor
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Trainer Class: Lady
Physical Appearance: Maribelle comes in at around 5'4". She has long, curly blond hair and brown eyes. Maribelle wears a pink, poofy dress and brown boots. She often carries around a parasol, and wears long white gloves. She has a belt with a Love Ball and a Luxury Ball for her Ninetails and Alcremie respectively.
Clothing/Bag: (Optional)
Personality: Spoiled and posh, as one might be able to tell from her Pokemon. She's a daughter of a rich, semi-noble family, and enjoys what she considers the finer things. Classical music, art, elegant Pokemon and fine food and tea. She's a little bratty and doesn't like to put in too much work, as one might be able to tell from her Pokemon.
Backstory: Maribelle is of the Von Valinor family, a rich family in Galar. She has spent her days being pampered in the lap of luxury, but now it is time for her to follow her family's tradition and go on a Pokemon journey, now that she has reached proper age.
Goals: To learn more about herself, acquire cute and rare Pokemon, and perhaps even get into becoming a Pokemon coordinator.
Starter(s): Amber the Kantonian Ninetails, and Alcremie the... Alcremie.

Name: Leona Stark
Gender: Female
Age: 21
Trainer Class: Ranger
Physical Appearance:
Leona Stark screenshot.png

Height is about 5'10"
Personality: Leona is a versatile and pragmatic person, able to adapt to different situations fairly quickly. Despite her general appearance, she can be quite friendly and talkative. She hates the idea of wasting anything, whether it was an empty container or a medicinal plant. As long as she can use it, she will until it falls apart.
Backstory: TBA
Goals: TBA
Pokemon:
•Midday Lycanroc
•Galarian Ponyta
•Rufflet
Other: Leona's left arm and leg were damaged beyond recovery and were amputated a few years back, hence her prosthetic limbs. She is also a survivalist that prefers camping and using whatever she can find.

Since other people have done their applications, I thought i'd get mine in:

Name: Brooke Waterson
Gender:
Female
Age:
19
Trainer Class:
Aqua Remnant Cultist, Battler, Coordinator, Lady
Physical Appearance:
Short, almost 5ft. Has saphire blue eyes with brown hair, once long, now cut to be made short, with one or two blue highlights in the middle at the back. She's quite thin and her face has a bunch of freckles. Tiny hands and feet.
Clothing/Bag: She usually wears all black or all blue clothing. When in her blue clothing, she normally wears clothing akin to that of the old Team Aqua. This often leads to her wearing a blue hat, whether that is a blue suncap or a blue bandana-type pirate hat like how Team Aqua grunts used to have. Sometimes she wears a white and blue striped top. Most of the time, however, she wears light blue, dark blue, navy or black clothes which have been cut back a bit, with a black hoodie on top. The hoodie depicts bubbles. She wears a short blue skirt, socks and gloves, exposing part of arms and legs. She also has a Mudkip-shaped bag and a rucksack in the shape of a Carvanha to swap out with. The bags feature various keychains depicting many water type Pokemon and she has
Personality: Predictably bubbly but in a slightly fake and pompous way, she is extremely ambitious and energetic. She appears to focus most of her time to reviving the legacy of Team Aqua in Hoenn. She has a facination with specifically water-type Pokemon. If she doesn't get what she wants, she will probably get really angry and throw a stroppy fit like a spoilt child. If you show the same facination in things and the same goals as her, you will probably get along well with her. However, if you don't, she will likely try to play your or ignore you entirely. She is extremely determined in what she wants to do and if something doesn't match or help her, she is able to discard the person or thing entirely and move on to the next.
Backstory:
Brooke also comes from a rich family. The youngest of several girls, her father was once a wealthy baron who set up a diving buisness with his wife after becoming extremely successful as a deep sea diver and a hunter. It's thought part of the 'hunter' job was as a mercenary but this is unconfirmed. The point is, she has been spoilt all her life, with the other siblings rejecting offers of money and Brooke lived in many big homes near lakes, rivers and the sea, particulary Dewford, Slateport, Sootopolis and Lilycove to name a few as towns. However, Brooke's main interests in life developed young. Brooke was told as a young child that her father was related to the infamous admins of the now distant Team Aqua decades ago, particularly being told she was an ancestor of Shelly. One time, when she was at a library, her parents convinced her to read up on some books about the history of Hoenn and it's here Brooke discovered more about the Team and made it her goal to revive them in Hoenn. Of course, she quickly discovered that her own cousin, Cordelia was trying the same thing, albeit in other regions, as she had moved to Orre. However, Brooke was soon left on her own as she blossomed into an adult in Hoenn. Other parts of her backstory may be revealed in the RP.
Goals:
Revive Team Aqua, Find a way to get more members into the new 'cult'. Make Team Aqua join Team Interstellar (eventually), join contests and battling competitions to advertise her new groups and promote her own career, eventually achieve what Aqua were trying to do (either in the original games or ORAS depending on what's realistic). Other goals may be revealed later in RP.
Starter:
Corphish, Surskit, Clamperl. Her partner Pokemon is Corphish.

Hopefully this is okay. If I have room for other characters, i'll post sheets later on.

@Captain Cardboard @Draco Nightshade @Max Million

All three are approved! I will likely make the roleplay thread and starter post in the next few days so keep an eye out. The starter post will be mostly foreshadowing and setup, ACT 1 of the storyline will truly kick off once everyone has posted at least once to establish where everyone is and what is happening in the world we're creating.

That being said, the RP will remain open for people to join and submit new characters here, just await approval on your character(s) before posting in the rp thread! Thanks to everyone who submitted a character and anyone who is reading this and considering it, don't be shy!

If the rp grows big enough I'm likely to pick one or two others to approve character sheets, but that is a discussion for the future.

Great introduction! Are the thugs in the museum Rockets, or just regular thugs? The new Team Rocket isn't operating officially anywhere but Kanto at the moment but it would make sense for there to be straggling supporters out there. It would be interesting if they were, but a good way to showcase her battle prowess early on even if they arent!

Welp here goes,
Name: Azure Cendria
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Trainer Class (Coordinator/Battler/Breeder/etc.): It's a bit of a split between a Battler and Collector, but you'll see below why
Appearance: Azure has a slim posture. He’s 1,65m tall, which is generally relatively tall for his age. He has light skin but has a pretty visible tan because he came from Alola. Blonde hair with red ends and eyes as blue as the Alolan summer sky accompany a yellow shirt with a tropical design, which is never tucked into his light blue jeans. When the weather gets cold, he always has a backup vest, which is red in color but lacks a design.
Personality: Azure is very outgoing and has a, quite literally considering he’s from Alola, sunny personality. He tries to look for the good in everything, and this usually means he’s able to make the best of any situation. The better of a friend you become to him, the more he’ll be ready to help at pretty much anytime. And... the more he’ll talk your head off. Unfortunately due to seeing the good in everything, he tends to be overconfident in his ability and charge headfirst into dangerous situations, or underestimating the situation he's in.
Backstory: Azure has live in Malie City his whole life. At the time Azure turned 10, he didn’t really have as much passion for Pokemon as he does now and thus, did not go out on a grand adventure, however, after a storm made the Malie Garden into an absolute mess when he was 12 years old, he watched the cooperation between Pokemon and people that brought the garden back to a state as if nothing happened. He was severely impressed by this, and having seen this, went on a deeper dive into trainers do in the world of Pokemon, and from this he made his decision by setting himself a goal, and that was to form a team of Pokemon from different regions. His parents had however been rather protective of him and restricted him to just the island they lived on. As he grew older, he didn't get much done, but his parents slowly but surely loosened up and allowed him to travel Alola, but this still doesn't qualify as different regions to him. Maybe now is the time to drop a bombshell on them and telling them you're travelling outside the comfort of the region?
Goals: Goal is explained above but he generally wants to raise a team of varying types of Pokemon, and prefers to have their origins spread across multiple regions.
Starter: He had been borrowing his dad's team of Pokemon for quite a while, and because he spent all his time in a single region, he has more knowledge of Pokemon that have already been trained. He may face difficulties handling newly caught ones. His dad decided lately that he had to at least try and catch something, and went with him so Azure could catch a Pokemon as his first. This ended up simply being a Grubbin, but in the weeks they have been together, they have grown to each other. Grubbin has stubborn tendencies, however these are just in its nature and not a part of its relationship with its trainer.

So yeah, basically when whatever the big event thing is happens, he will want to take the opportunity to travel outside the region and catch Pokemon in another region. This gives me a good starting point of an inexperienced trainer used to the luxuries of the resort region, while not being a complete idiot because his dad let him use his Pokemon for some time, in which he learned the ropes of battle. I'll be a bit rusty but as soon as I figure out exactly how I want Azure to be you might notice him being less of a "generic idiot character that learns throughout the story", even if that is a good way too handle it.

Actually, I'll just send it now lmaoo

Name: Draven Davidson (or "DD" or "Double D")
Gender/Pronouns: Male | He/Him
Age: 18
Trainer Class: Battler
Hometown: Undella Town, Unova
Physical Appearance: Short, black hair with streaks of pink on his windswept bangs, green eyes, dark tan skin, and being 5'03" (160 cm) and weighing in at 115 lbs (52.2 kg) with minimal muscle build, Draven doesn't look too imposing and looks more like those bookworms or wallflowers. He's normally seen with a neutral face that looks like he's frowning or studying something intently.
Clothes/Bag: He usually wears sandals with straps going up his calves, dark blue shorts, random colored t-shirts (some that are graphic tees), and he wears trainer gloves. He also has black reading glasses, as he's farsighted. He also has notebooks, pencils, other books about Pokemon and archaeological sites, among others. He has a Pokedex app on his phone and a black Xtransceiver on his right wrist.
Personality: Draven is reticent, silent, and sometimes brooding. However, he wishes to be with others and enjoy their company, yet he feels as if it's beyond him unless they seem to believe in something similar to him. He's quick to irritate and is highly opinionated with extremist views, but he knows when to still his tongue lest he incur even more trouble on himself. He is not known to be entitled, yet some of his actions or words may be misconstrued in that way when it is actually born of empathy and compassion for those used, set aside, and forgotten. While he may like the civilization they have now - as he definitely wouldn't have been born in easy times without this - he felt like everything was too easy; things needed to be stirred up as people became too complacent for his liking. How peaceful it all was made him feel even lonelier. What about the times where people would stand together and fight a common evil and grow stronger from it? No, if people have grown this complacent and took this all for granted, then they shouldn't have this world as they have it to begin with.
Bio: Being born in Undella Town, Draven knew only of the sea, sand, and mountains. Not only was he used to the course, irritating, yet smooth and warm sand and the salty, refreshing sea, but also the tourists who come by to use the villas as a vacation getaway. It really made it feel like the town was only remembered when summer came around and it was used as an escape from their lives, when Draven felt like he was stuck here - forever to be forgotten until it was convenient for others. He rarely had friends as there weren't those who were around his age that lived there, and those who came by in the summer seemed too quick to make him a friend, only to forget about him when they went back home. It left him abandoned and alone, and he grew into a troubled teen.

When he was 13, his parents, feeling concerned for the path he was heading down, took him to the Abundant Shrine through Route 14, showing him the cool mists that came from the rapids and waterfalls that covered the route. Riding on his father's Swanna while his parents enjoyed the ride on his mother's Lapras, they made their way through the rapids and waterfalls until they found a grove.

The Abundant Shrine held fertile lands that were being currently used by a few who lived there, transforming the ground into places for their crops. The freshwater ponds were so clear, Draven thought he was looking through glass. As they walked through, they found themselves at the end with the shrine dedicated to Landorus. Of course, Landorus hadn't been seen in so long, and Draven would never be that lucky. Still, there was a nest that made its home within the shrine. Taking out a Pokeball, his father showed him how to use it and allowed him to catch a Hoothoot, who was just about to fly out of its nest. With one good throw, Draven caught his first Pokemon - a Hoothoot. His parents thought that it would be a good idea to give him a Pokemon who loved reading and knowledge just as much as Draven did, who was surrounded by books and knowledge ever since he was little.

He knew of much history, and he loved going on trips with his mother to Opelucid City through his teen years - the city split and in harmony with the rapid technological changes and that of history. Of course, sacrifices to some of its history had to be made in order to have their industry and technology, which only saddened Draven recently when he realized the library he had been going to in Opelucid City had also changed out some of the historical texts. There weren't that many people who fought this - or even knew of this for the decision to be fought against in the first place. It didn't bother him too much then, but it began to become a thorn in his side once he finished school in Aspertia City when he was 18 after spending 4 years there.

Everyone was so quick to head into the future and stay within peace that they grew to have a disdain for confrontation, yet they threw away history or even had the gall to decide that the past didn't affect them and that the times of the past were in the past, never to be regarded again even though he had noticed history did indeed repeat itself. What of the evil teams? Surely, something like that would come back again, and then he'd hear the talk of peace and tranquility through the radio shows and TV channels.

It was courser than the sand he lived upon.

It bothered that fear of abandonment and being forgotten from when he was a kid, projecting his fear onto that of knowledge. They were utter fools for not learning from the past and keeping themselves strong for when danger struck, and his disdain grew. Why should it only be for the Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and Champions to be strong? Why not everyone else to better protect themselves?

This civilization... It's already doomed.

He hid this growing hatred from his parents. They didn't deserve it, they tried their best to raise a good kid, and he felt like he was a burden for not being as good as they wished he was. His Hoothoot, already nearing evolution at this time, seemed to understand his plight. His emotions were felt by his first Pokemon and the owlet stood by his side regardless of whatever path he took, not wanting to be lost or forgotten like his trainer - like how he was when his mother abandoned the nest.

After hearing of a region and wanting a fresh start away from Unova, he decided to travel there.

... What was he to do?
Goal: Find meaning in this world, or else he'll join Interstellar and wreck it so a new and better civilization can be made in its place. And if a better civilization comes out after this even if Interstellar fails? Then he would have reached his goal, too. To become a begrudging hero because of the people he learned to respect along the way, or to become fate's little villain helper and serve his role he felt more comfortable filling than living in peace with nor purposeful fulfillment.
Starter: Ma'a the Hoothoot
*Note: The spoilered or blurred words in Ma'a's character sheet is for when she evolves into Noctowl. Also, let me know if the Pokemon has to have 4 moves, have a larger hard limit (like 6 or 8 ) or if we can do a soft limit with battle-ready moves being 4 or higher (non-battle-ready moves will likely have a massive penalty due to the Pokemon being rusty).
Species/Type: Hoothoot - Normal/Flying | Noctowl - Normal/Flying (Flying-Types are immune to grounded effects, like terrain, the effects of the move Rototiller, Arena Trap, and entry hazards (except for Stealth Rock). They can lose this if they Roost or purposefully touch the ground, or are affected by Gravity, Smack Down, Ingrain, or if holding an Iron Ball. Holding a Ring Target doesn't make them grounded, but it does remove their Ground-Type immunity.)
Nickname: Ma'a (literally meaning "to see" in Egyptian; part of Ma which means "Owl" in Egyptian)
Gender: Female
Ability: Keen Eye - Powerful eyes that can see through evasiveness-raising attempts are protected by a thin layer of a certain film to shield it from accuracy reducing attempts. Sand (from Sand Attack and Z-Sand Attack), smoke (from Smokescreen and Z-Smokescreen), leaves (from Leaf Tornado), mud (from Mud-Slap, Mud Bomb, Muddy Water, and Secret Power-induced Mud Shot and Mud-Slap on sand, dirt and rock), ink (from Octazooka), darkness (from Night Daze), and mirage waves created by intense heat or psychic energy (from Kinesis and Z-Kinesis) won't lower her accuracy. While a move like Flash, Z-Flash, an opponent holding Bright Powder, or Mirror Shot won't damage the eyes or prevent her from seeing through it, her own mind won't like the bright flash and will likely flinch if caught off guard. She can see through Double Team's copies, snow and hail and a sandstorm (Snow Cloak and Sand Veil), can see a tiny opponent (from Minimize), see camouflaged opponents (Z-Camouflage), see through an opponent's prepped attempt to dodge (Z-Detect and Tangled Feet), be unaffected by pheromones trying to throw her off (enemy holding a Lax Incense), be unaffected by evasion-based luck from the opponent (Z-Lucky Chant), and ignore evasion aided by Z-Magnet Rise. However, Keen Eye really only works if she can see, so if she's blinded, none of this really matters.
Appearance: Just a regular ol' Hoothoot. The closer Ma'a is to evolution, the more feathers of differing colors start to grow. Considering Ma'a is close to evolution, her cream-feathered chest has a slightly darker shade of six brownish-cream triangles becoming more visible, the rest of the cream feathers are starting to match the rest of her feather's light brown coloration, flight wings are becoming more and more defined and larger, her feet are yellowing, and the overall brown coloration of her feathers are boldening and darkening, especially the top portion of her wings and tail feathers. Her black feathers around her eyes are also brightening just slightly a dark grey. She is also getting larger and heavier, being 3'00" (91.4 cm) and weighs 62 lbs (28.1 kg) instead of the usual 2'04" (71.1 cm) and 46.7 lbs (21.2 kg). | Just a regular ol' Noctowl, being the average height and weight of one: 5'03" (160 cm) and 89.9 lbs (40.8 kg).
Natural Abilities: Because Ma'a is close to evolution, she's starting to use both talons instead of alternating between them to stand and perch, and instead tilting her head left and right to keep with the seconds of time that pass. Because she's primarily nocturnal, she starts getting tired during the day, but can still function due to having to function diurnally for her trainer instead. She takes pride in her keen eyes, which are stronger due to her ability, a membrane helping to shield her eyes from being hit by sand and can see through smoke and fog. She can also stare at others without blinking endlessly, scaring others. | Becoming a Noctowl, she swivels her head 180 degrees to spook people. Like most Noctowl, she twists her head upside down in order to think, however become irritable when bothered while in this state and will attack those who don't leave her alone aside from her trainer. Due to Noctowl's silent flying, she also uses her achieved stealth to spook people and become a great spy later. Her eyesight gets even stronger, being able to spot a scurrying Rattata in forests below her from a little over 1.5 miles (2.4 km) away. With her father being a Swanna, she has the potential to fly for hundreds of miles without rest and fight for far longer than average.
Nature/Personality/Behavior: Modest | Ma'a uses her natural abilities - especially after evolution - to spook others. She loves forests and would free herself from her Pokeball to fly around the forest, keeping close to her trainer at all times. She dislikes bright light and will be bothered by light-emitting attacks, occasionally cringing if she was caught off guard by the attack. She also gets sick from what human would describe as "jet lag", as traveling to a different part of the world can disrupt their internal clocks and make them sick if this continues. She is very protective of those who she considers a part of her family, and will attack them mercilessly to defend her kind. She likes to scare people and sleep. She is rather modest with her abilities, and sees herself as not enough to protect Draven. For this reason, she tends to want to train more and won't hesitate to get into a fight to protect him, but will rethink her decision if it's up against a bigger, stronger opponent. Upon evolution, she doesn't have this fear anymore, but regards tougher opponents with respect and will back down unless pushed. She can be rather wise and calm, as well. Because of her father being a Swanna, she has a propensity to use physical attacks despite her weak physical strength, and she loves to dance and flit about.
History: Living her life in the Abundant Shrine within the shrines made for the deity, she just hatched when she noticed her mother wasn't around. For a few days, she starved while she was up in her nest, only to realize her mother wasn't coming back. She decided to hop out and search for food, fattening herself up every day as she hopped on the ground and attempted to fly each day, then went back to her nest to sleep. One day, a child and his father came by. Wishing to be free from living in a place with no parents, she let the child capture her, and she stayed with him ever since, loving to read with him (even if she can't understand the language), and understanding the world more and more through him. He was a teenager when she was caught by him, and she noticed how bitter he was of the world and its people. Wanting to rectify that, she became his best friend, as she felt like she owed him her life for saving her from her lonely home.
Moves:
  • Peck | Flying | Physical | With a glowing beak, Ma'a damages the opponent with it. Because of how she charges, she can hit non-adjacent opponents during a triple battle.
  • Air Slash | Flying | Special | Flapping wings or using glowing talons, she hurls blades of air that slice the opponent, and can be used to attack long-range targets like non-adjacent opponents in a triple battle. It has a 30% chance to cause a flinch due to the pain.
  • Hurricane | Flying | Special | Learned through her father (Swanna), she flaps her wings and causes a huge windstorm that can blow smaller Pokemon away, its disorienting winds have a 30% chance to cause confusion and its winds can hit far away targets, like non-adjacent opponents in a triple battle. When used during Rain, Hurricane hits easier, while it loses accuracy when used during harsh sunlight. It can also damage Pokemon in the midst of Fly, Bounce, and Sky Drop. This attack is too strong for Ma'a to use however, so she fails 50% of the time using it.
  • Defog | Flying | Status | Learned through her father (Swanna), she flaps her wings to create a strong wind to make it easier to see the enemy (lowers evasion), while also dispelling vapors and gases on the opponent's side of the field (like fog, Mist, and smoke), disrupting screens formed by light on the opponent's side of the field (Reflect, Safeguard, Light Screen, and Aurora Veil), entry hazards on the entire battlefield (Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Sticky Web, and Stealth Rock), terrain (Grassy, Electric, Psychic, and Misty), as well as the effects of G-Max Steelsurge.
  • Tackle | Normal | Physical | Ma'a's body glows white and she hits the target with her body.
  • Echoed Voice | Normal | Special | Ma'a hoots loudly, with each consecutive use (even if it fails, misses, or is prevented by Protect) becoming stronger than the last. It will fail if affected by Throat Chop, used against a Pokemon with Soundproof, and will activate Throat Spray.
  • Uproar | Normal | Special | Makes a shrill ruckus that creates debilitating sound waves for a while and is unable to use any other moves as it's fixated on this one attack (for 3 of my posts or 3 of the opponent's attacks), and in doing so prevents Pokemon from sleeping or being afflicted by sleep-inducing moves or abilities (including Rest, Effect Spore, disobedience, and Yawn), and it wakes up sleeping Pokemon, even if they have Soundproof or aren't even adjacent to the user. If it fails to execute Uproar due to using it on a Ghost-Type, on a protected Pokemon, or a Pokemon with Soundproof, the Pokemon will calm down. Can't be used if under the effects of Throat Chop, and will activate Throat Spray.
  • Foresight | Normal | Status | Foresees potential next actions of the Pokemon, allowing her to hit the opponent easier and hit Ghost-Types with Normal- and Fighting-Type attacks.
  • Growl | Normal | Status | Makes an endearing sound to make the foe less wary and lower their physical attack, unless they have Soundproof, Hyper Cutter, Clear Body, White Smoke, or Full Metal Body. Can't be used if affected by Throat Chop and can activate Throat Spray.
  • Supersonic | Normal | Status | Learned through her mother who learned it from her father (Pelipper), creates an ultrasonic wave with her voice to confuse the opponent, unless they have Soundproof or Own Tempo. Can't be used if affected by Throat Chop, and activates Throat Spray.
  • Zen Headbutt | Psychic | Physical | Cloaking her head in psychic energy created by her strong willpower, she bashes the target with it, which has a 20% chance to cause the opponent to flinch.
  • Confusion | Psychic | Special | Summoning psychic energy within herself, she creates a psychic wave that disorients the opponent's mind and has a 10% chance to confuse them.
  • Hypnosis | Psychic | Status | Ma'a creates a suggestive psychic wave to lull the opponent into a trance or into slumber, unless they have Insomnia or Vital Spirit. Outside of combat, she can put people and Pokemon into a trance and suggest they do certain actions. However, if they have an aversion to doing anything they don't want to do, they can break free. It will be up to the affected character's player whether they want to follow through with the action or break free which isn't that hard.
  • Psycho Shift | Psychic | Status | Shining with bright purple energy, Ma'a also tries to capture the opponent with shining purple energy to swap a non-volatile status condition from Ma'a to the affected opponent. It will fail if the opponent is immune to said status condition, either by type, ability, Safeguard, or if they are already affected by a status condition. This cures Ma'a of her status condition while passing it on to her opponent.
  • Reflect | Psychic | Status | There are several ways to make this move. Ma'a creates a wall made of psychic light in front of her for varying purposes (of which is to increase her defense until it breaks) or creates a screen of light on her side of the field to strength her and her party's physical defense. It stays for a while (5 posts from each person), but its effects can be lifted from Brick Break, Defog, Psychic Fangs, Raging Bull, or with Screen Cleaner (unless if the user is immune to the move). Pokemon with Infiltrator ignore this entirely.

Question? Is this still open?
Yes. This is open, drop your character sheet(s) and I will reply to them with either approval or whatever corrections need made! Make sure to read the introductory post as well.
@H47E are Shiny Pokémon allowed, I was thinking of a more experienced who has a Shiny Glimmora.
I am limiting shinies to keep them pretty rare, however if you can provide a good enough story/reason/explanation for how this person has a shiny, I may allow it. Drop a character sheet and if anything needs changing, I'll say so!
I once again apologize for a lack of post, I'll try putting one together tomorrow.
No worries, take your time!! The main storyline will not truly kick off until everyone is established somewhere, and with multiple new joins it may take a bit! If we really need you to post to move things along, you'll get tagged or dm'd!

Approved, I love it! Super cool character idea and easily brought into the story anywhere.
Actually, I'll just send it now lmaoo

Also approved, I like the possibilities here. Let's see if you're a hero or a villain! As for the specifics of Pokémon moves and such, I will update the first post in the thread asap with a spoiler regarding the subject. All information you or anyone else should need about what their Pokémon can and can't do should be there when I am done editing the post.
