Pokemon MMORPG

Right...I've been thinking long and hard about this and here's what i got!!!

Starting Regions: Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, (Maybe at lvl 80 you unlock Orange Islands as a starter zone etc.)

Starter Pokemon;
Kanto: Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander (After you defeat Elite 4 u can get Pikachu as a starter?)
Johto: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile (After Elite 4 u get a Dratini as a starter or something good lol)
Hoenn: Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip (After Elite 4 u get a blah blah)
Sinnoh: Piplup

As a WoW player I really like this idea :p Realisticly it would be insanly hard to pull this through correctly unless you got some pretty nice servers and ideas how to run them but overall its pretty fun to think about.

Legendary Pokemon: I dont know how to approach this because if there are tons on 1 server it will really ruin the legendary's if everyone owns 1 but if we do 1 a server then everyone else will squinny when some1 catches it that they cant have it, so my conclusion thus far is lets just leave them unobtainable but able to be battled for now.
I agree, on defeat the pokemon should grant items to the user that defeated it. In the spirit of pokemon, I would apply something like the wandering legends of the current games to all the legends in the MMO. They would wander the world and for the few lucky ones to spot and defeat them some intreting items would be obtained.

Apart from that everything looks pretty cool, I would consider making it all good guy players and having them against the world at first. Mostly because you wont have a WoW size crowd of players playing it right off the bat. Plus it would be more appreciated for casual players. Having a duelling option would be a must though for sure.

I also agree with the starters thing, it would once again be more like the show where not everyone has the same three. It would also be more intresting to see some randomly done elements to it. (Kinda like how a character on WoW is based on randomly dropped loot when compared to other players of the same class.)

Well thought out, seems you put quite a bit of effort and thought into this. I do hope to see something similar to this pop up sometime in the future since the current pokemon MMO is pretty mediocre from what if tried.

I love the idea of a Pokemon MMO and as Jeydis already said, yours seems well thought out. The only problem I see with a PokeMMO is the policing aspect. You get enough, uh, 'idiots' (the actual term I'd use for them is a lot harsher) in your standard MMO's, but a PokeMMO would be a magnet for griefers like that. Not to mention the age limit issue; I'm sure that despite it being rated for 13+ or what-have-you, the pester generation of hyper ten year olds (no offence meant to ten year olds, I just can't really picture anyone younger navigating WASD and a chat bow) will get their parents to get them in. The parents will then complain about how the older players are being mature and...

Well I'll stop there. The possible Community of a PokeMMO is no reason not to try one. Perhaps it could have an item mall based system where you can buy better quality PokeBalls and other useful, but non-essential, items? Or just new outfits for your Trainer (you don't really want to look like Misty in the same pair of hotpants and vest-top for several months, do you?).

My brain cramps whenever I try to picture a Pokemon MMORPG. I just don't see it working out. The biggest problem I have with it is how exactly will parties work? Will that make it to where you run into multiple wild pokemon at once? Will a party be able to battle a gym leader then?

The idea of a broad range of starters is good and character customization would work well epecially since in pokemon you won't be covering up your pokemon with armor that everyone else will have. Adding Accesories to dress you pokemon up a bit sounds good as well.

Now, about everything in your Classes/Carrers and Jobs/Professions categories...
Personally, I'd like it better if everyone was just a Trainer. All this Finding Pokemon/items, vet work, customizing pokeballs etc. all sound like quests and rewards you can pickup from NPC's so I think they'd be best as just that and anybody could do them.

That's all I got for now, but that reminds me of a Pokemon action game that I thought up some time ago...

I'd like to see one, but honestly, I don't see it happening any time soon

It'd be really difficult to keep in the real spirit of pokémon with them.

Until we get a really good wifi based handheld capable of an MMORPG I don't see this happening...

We've been getting A LOT of topics like this lately, so for now let's keep all talk about Pokemon MMO's here, eh? I'll be merging/locking any others that pop up from now on.
