Ask to Join Pokémon: Radiated

26 years ago, a radiated comet struck the Earth. The radiation was enough to kill all the humans surrounding the impact area, but not the Pokémon. The Pokémon began to talk all around the world and it became the norm. But something crazy is happening...

Name: Cathal O'Ceallaigh
Gender: Male
Age: 16
Sexuality: Straight
Hometown: Lumiose City, Kalos (born); Stow-On-Side, Galar (moved when he was 10)
Height: 159cm
Weight: 50kg
Hair colour: Cyan
Eye colour: Black with white pupils
Clothing: An orange long-sleeve shirt, a pair of blue jeans, purple shoes and yellow gloves.
Features: Thicker Irish accent than 90% of people
Personality: Average "challenge me, I dare you" personality.
Skills: Planning ahead.
Backstory: Cathal lived an average life until he was 5. He met Tokoyo as a Frigibax and promised to take care of him. Cathal's family approved of the idea and took Tokoyo in. When he was 9, he met a red Froakie that seemed to disappear in the dark (this is Kage) and promised he would take care of her, too. Again, his family approved. The next year, the family moved to Stow-on-Side in Galar. Tokoyo has already evolved into an Arctibax (believe me it was short) and Kage evolved into a Frogadier. It was then he met Tamashi (as a Haunter) and wasn't scared at all.
Family: Mother (Caitlin O'Ceallaigh, 50) and father (Brian O'Ceallaigh, 53) (alive); older brother (Darach O'Ceallaigh, 26) (missing); younger brother (Hagan O'Ceallaigh, 10) (alive).
Relationships: Unclear

Species: Greninja
Nickname: Kage
Gender: Female
Ability: Protean
Hidden Power: Ghost
Features: Red in light, although seems to disappear in the dark
History: Cast out from her original family because she was red. When she met Cathal, her depressive personality changed to a happy-go-lucky one.
Personality: Happy-go-lucky; will go to great lengths to protect Cathal. She also helps other people, which is Cathal's goal; to help people.

Species: Gengar
Nickname: Tamashi
Gender: Male
Ability: Cursed Body
Hidden Power: Dragon
Features: a darker shade of purple than average
History: When Tamashi was a Gastly, he was never seen by anybody, which made it fun to scare others. Eventually, Tamashi met Cathal and failed to scare him. At that moment, Tamashi accepted Cathal as his trainer.
Personality: Loves to scare people. It has an obvious crush on Kage (get friendzoned Tamashi).

Species: Baxcalibur
Nickname: Tokoyo
Gender: Male
Ability: Thermal Exchange
Hidden Power: Dark
Features: Actually really short. Shorter than Cathal, actually.
History: Tokoyo was an outcast from an early age, exiled to Kalos. When it met a 5-year-old Cathal O'Ceallaigh, its entire life changed. Cathal promised to take care of Tokoyo as soon as they met.
Personality: Doesn't really act like an outcast. Loves pranks.

1. Pokécharms rules. No brainer, mate.
2. Some romance is allowed, but keep it PG, for Christ's sake.
3. Swearing is allowed, but don't go too far (ex. the f-word).
4. Unless a battle is essential to the plot, I'd advise against making it long.
5. Feel free to suggest plot twists.

This'll be my first prp in a hot minute lol, but I'm intrigued and excited! I'm assuming this is going to take place in Galar?

Something to note: this character is an adaptation of a character in a pre-existing story. He is largely different from the character in canon, due to my tweaking of his story and also the fact that this takes place in a pokemon story. Essentially, he's been adapted twice--once for the fanfiction this iteration of the character originates from, and once for this roleplay. He's inspired by/based on Spectre from Yugioh Vrains, and the only other characters from that canon that are directly referenced by name are Aoi and Akira Zaizen, who are also slightly different in this version of events.

Tl;dr for that explanation, Hideki is based on a version of Spectre from Yugioh Vrains, specifically the version of him from a fanfiction I'm writing where he's almost an entirely different character. The only other characters from Vrains that are referenced by name are the Zaizen siblings, Aoi and Akira, who are only relevant in a backstory sense and a "he still keeps in contact with his friend" sense.

Also I got carried away with this and may or may not have spent the afternoon on it. It's fairly long in some places, especially the backstory bit. At least one-liners won't be a problem on my end...

Name: Hideki Hayashi

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Sexuality: Aromantic asexual

Hometown: Winding Woods, then Snowbelle City, then Coumarine City. Most recently, his family moved to Ballonlea in Galar.

Height: 180 cm (5'11)

Weight: 69.2 kg (150 lbs)

Hair colour: Dusty light blonde

Hair style: Asymmetrical; longer on his right side and very short on his left. At its longest, his hair reaches his shoulders.

Eye colour: Blue

Clothing: Hideki wears a green short-sleeved hoodie open over a forest-turquoise tee-shirt. The hood and sleeves of his hoodie are darker green. He also wears light brown cargo pants, a brown belt with a silver buckle, and brown hiking boots. His belongings are kept in a brighter green backpack.

Features: Hideki has a habit of snapping his fingers to add emphasis to things he says. Under stress, sometimes he slips up and refers to Daphne, his Trevenant, as "mom" or "mother"

Personality: Though not standoffish, Hideki isn't what most people would consider "friendly" at first. He's not likely to make the first move in an interaction, and unless the conversation topic is something he's interested in, he'll most likely just be cordial. However, he's far more friendly towards pokemon, especially grass-types. He absolutely loves grass-type pokemon and plants, and often times carries at least one book on either subject. Despite being less outwardly friendly towards people, once Hideki makes an attachment towards someone, he is undyingly loyal to them. He can also be a bit smug and overconfident.

Skills: Aside from being adept at identifying plants and grass-type pokemon, Hideki is good at analyzing situations and improvising. He's also a pretty decent cook and has some basic medical knowledge.

Backstory: Hideki has never known his biological family, as he was abandoned in the Winding Woods as an infant. A wild Trevenant found him and took him in, and he lived there for the first few years of his life. Eventually, he was found by a group of humans and brought to an orphanage, but he still visited the Trevenant when he could. His life at the orphanage wasn't great, as he felt much less of a connection with the other kids there and as such isolated himself. His caretakers also didn't pay him much attention, as they had too many kids to keep track of.

He was adopted at the age of five, but the people who took him in were... Less than upstanding. He doesn't speak much about this time, but at the time he was just happy that someone was paying attention to him. Within a few months, they were busted, and Hideki was sent back to the orphanage. He was adopted shortly thereafter, and his adoptive fathers soon realized that he had some kind of serious trauma. They started looking into counseling and therapy, and in the meantime noticed that Hideki often went into the woods to play. Eventually, they found out about the Trevenant and though a bit wary of the pokemon at first, they realized that she was deeply protective of their son and eventually she moved into the family's yard and was given the name Daphne.

When he was eight years old, the family moved to Coumarine City, and Daphne was officially "captured" by Hideki. During the move, the family stayed with one of his dads' relatives for a few days. It was during this time that Hideki encountered one of his former foster siblings, Aoi Zaizen. The two became fast friends, and Hideki found out that Aoi had been recently adopted by her older half-brother, Akira, who had only recently came of legal age to have custody and had fought like hell to gain guardianship of her. They kept in contact when Hideki left Lumiose, and remained best friends to the present day.

Hideki lived in Coumarine with his dads and Daphne for several years. He was absolutely enthralled by the gym leader, Ramos, and his grass-type pokemon, and even filled in as a backup gym trainer a couple of times. It was during his time in Coumarine that he encountered, befriended, and captured a Skiddo which he named Mint.

Most recently, when he was fourteen, Hideki moved to Galar with his family. This was his biggest move yet, and Hideki was more than a little upset to have to leave Coumarine behind. Still, he made do, and found that he quite liked Ballonlea. Though his favorite gym leader would be Milo for obvious reasons, Hideki enjoyed the theatre program at the Ballonlea gym and found he was actually a decent actor. Now, however, he's embarking on a journey with his pokemon partners to see the rest of Galar and what it has to offer, and potentially even take part in the Gym Challenge.

Family: Nobuyuki Yoshino(father, adoptive), Makoto Hagihara(father, adoptive)

Relationships: Aoi Zaizen(best friend), Akira Zaizen(acquaintance; Aoi's older brother)

Other: Nobuyuki and Makoto are also aroace, and are queerplatonic partners. Nobuyuki is an author and Makoto is a first responder. Hideki still regularly calls Aoi to keep in touch.

Species: Trevenant

Nickname: Daphne

Gender: Female

Ability: Natural Cure

Hidden Power: Ground

Features: While most Trevenant would have a red eye, Daphne's is a very pale teal color.

History: Phantump are born from the spirits of lost children, and Daphne was no different. Many years ago, she was lost and passed away in the Winding Woods. She awoke as a Phantump and from there continued to grow up, eventually realizing that she hadn't just gotten lost; she'd been deliberately left behind. Eventually, she evolved into a Trevenant and found an infant sleeping in the roots of a tree. Taking sympathy on the child, she took care of him until some other humans came and brought him out of the forest. It hurt, but it was the right thing to do--though she'd began to see him as her own, he would be better off with other humans. But the boy kept returning to visit her, until one day he just... stopped for a while. When he came back, he seemed hurt, and she vowed to watch over him and keep that from happening again. After some time, the boy introduced her to his human adoptive family, and after some more time, she was accepted into it. She accepted the name Daphne, as she could not remember her old name from when she was human, and stayed with Hideki to protect him.

Personality: Daphne is protective by nature, but even more so towards Hideki and any friends of his. Unless provoked, she's generally very gentle and easygoing.

Species: Gogoat

Nickname: Mint

Gender: Male

Ability: Sap Sipper

Hidden Power: Steel

Features: Mint's leaves are shaped like peppermint, which is how he got his name.

History: Honestly, Mint has a pretty basic backstory. He just kinda lived around the outskirts of Coumarine as a Skiddo and met Hideki while he and Daphne were out exploring the area. The kids (pun intended) hit it off quickly and Mint ended up following Hideki home. The rest is history. He evolved while they were living in Ballonlea.

Personality: Mint is very much a go-getter, with boundless energy and excitement at the world around him. He can be a bit reckless and doesn't always think before he does something.

EDIT: Oh thank god I got it to work!! Lmao

Accepted! It took a while to keep track of the very, very in-depth bio, but that doesn't really matter much. XD
I forgot what Sap Sipper does. XD I'll look it up.
Edit: I remembered what Sap Sipper does. XD

Ahaha yeah, I kinda went all-in with that. :'|

I'm excited to start! Are you gonna wait til another person joins to start the in-character thread, or are we just gonna jump into it?

I'll get the RP thread up maybe tomorrow. I'll ping you and @Yaspen (ping jumpscare AHAHAHAHA) when it's up.

Sick, I've got the day off of work so I should be set to reply quickly! And if I'm ever slow with replies btw, that's probably why--working at Walmart is fuuun (sarcasm). Regardless, I'm stoked!!

Hi! This role play looks really interesting, and I'd love to join in. Are you still accepting new members? I'd be able to get a character sheet up tonight if so!

Still accepting!
@D34N.U5R : If you are accepting new members, do we have to include a human character in our sign up sheet? For example, what if someone wanted to play as a Pokémon who lost their trainer in the comet strike?
I mean, there's no rule stating otherwise, so you don't have to include a human.

Name: Francis (Frank) Herrera
Gender: Male
Age: 26
Sexuality: Heterosexual/Straight
Hometown: Veilstone City, Sinnoh; Moved to Wedgehurst, Galar
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 130 lbs.

Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: Sky blue
Clothing: Despite not giving much consideration to the appearances of others, Frank always aims to remain informally tidy. He dresses conservatively with a sporty flair, so that he may easily transition from an afternoon in the research lab to traveling in the wilderness. Frank typically wears a loose-fitting, white Oxford-cloth shirt, tucked carelessly into a pair of boxy, medium blue jeans. He supports these denim trousers with a braided leather belt that matches his brown leather hiking boots. For colder climates, he comes prepared with an olive green canvas jacket.
Features: Frank’s thin, meek frame matches his soft facial features, with a rounded jawline that does not particularly accentuate any sharp angles. His sky blue eyes always appear calm underneath a pair of tortoiseshell-patterned half-rimmed frames. Frank parts his brown hair in the middle of his crown so that it falls shaggily on the sides of his head, just above his ears.

Personality: Frank has a quiet, modest demeanor; he isn’t particularly aggressive or vengeful, but will always defend his companions and loved ones. While not a perfectionist, he holds himself to a high standard of quality in both Pokémon training and daily life, remaining strict and regimented, yet patient. Frank is not one to initiate interactions with others, but is considered generally friendly by those who get to know him. When focused on a task, he can become somewhat absent-minded, letting other details fall by the wayside until he has seen a project through to its end.
Skills: Technological savvy—With a background in hacking, Frank has the intuitive knowledge and skills to build or take apart technology devices from both a hardware and software perspective.

Backstory: Frank was raised in a working-class family living on the outskirts of Veilstone City, Sinnoh. Although Frank’s upbringing was not glamorous, his parents ensured that they instilled good values in their son, such as always appearing presentable. Frank’s father would gamble away much of the family’s earnings at the Veilstone Game Corner, leading to loud altercations with his mother and visits from the occasional bookie. To avoid these tense situations, Frank spent much of his childhood locked in his bedroom on his personal computer, developing a love for technology as he learned to code and hack to pass the time.

During his teen years, Frank’s hacking ability had developed to the point where he was able to hack into the Veilstone Game Corner’s computer systems with the help of his first Pokémon: a Rotom called Gizmo that he had encountered while playing in the forests near the Lost Tower on Route 209. Little by little, he was able to manipulate data to increase his father’s daily winnings, simultaneously keeping his family afloat in the process. When the Game Corner staff discovered the outliers in their financial data, they took swift action against the Herrera family. Fearing any violent repercussions for their son, Frank’s parents sent him away to an internship assignment with the Pokémon Research Lab in Wedgehurst, Galar.

Family: Mother and father living in Veilstone
Relationships: None.

Species: Rotom
Nickname: Gizmo
Gender: Unknown
Ability: Levitate
Hidden Power: Water

Features: Gizmo appears to be a normal Rotom, with an orange body of plasma, but has the ability to change its surrounding electrical aura to various colors depending on its mood.

History: Gizmo was born to a family of Rotom living at the top of the Lost Tower on Sinnoh’s Route 209. It loved playing poltergeist and pranking the mourners who visited the Tower. At nighttime, Gizmo would often make its way to the nearby Solaceon Town and Veilstone City to inhabit various gadgets and terrify the locals. It met Frank during one of these late-night haunts, and decided to stick with the young man after he let it inhabit his PokéGear.

Personality: Gizmo is mischievous and loyal by nature, making it the perfect partner-in-crime for Frank’s hacking.
---
Species: Porygon-Z
Nickname: Poryzooka
Gender: Unknown
Ability: Adaptability
Hidden Power: Fire

Features: Poryzooka appears to be a normal Porygon-Z color-wise, though its physical being seems to “glitch” every so often, causing it to change shape and size for a moment.

History: Professor Magnolia told Frank that she had a computer virus. Frank was able to expel and capture the virus, which was Poryzooka.

Personality: Poryzooka is the powerhouse of Frank’s team, firing off powerful Tri Attacks to take down strong foes. It is loyal to its trainer and friends, never backing down from an opponent terrorizing its companions.

Nice! Accepted, you can RP now!

Silly question, if pokemon are able to talk now, can I play as one instead of a trainer?
I feel like it could be interesting playing a Pokemon in the usual Pokemon world.

Then, does said Pokemon have to be in their base stage or can it be fully evolved?
Also, what's with the Hidden Power? And what region are we starting in?
You can start in any region, Hidden Power is a move that can be any type except Normal or Fairy for good coverage and I'm still thinking about the first question. Maybe we can just say... any stage is fine.

Species: Tyrantrum
Nickname: Blue
Gender: Female
Ability: Strong Jaw
Hidden Power: I'm not sure
Features: Shiny and bigger than a typical Tyrantrum
History: Blue is a runaway from a research center in the Kalos region who got away not long after she hatched. A curious individual, she spent much time exploring while simultaneously hiding from humans as best as she can. The researchers never actually caught her in a PokeBall before so she was able to go where she wished. Things got especially interesting when she learned to talk after the comet impacted the earth. After all, shortly after it made contact, she evolved into an enormous Tyrantrum. She has somehow managed to sneak to other regions despite her coloring and large body and is currently roaming the Galar region.
Personality:

Here's what I have so far.

I'm interested in this. Is it alright if I join as well?
I'd be interested in joining as well! :)
No worries. Both of you can join!

Personality: Despite her immense size, she's actually quite shy and timid likely do to living in hiding for just about her whole life up to this point.

Nice! Maybe a Steel-type Hidden Power would be good for coverage, but either way, accepted!

Species: Pikachu

Name: Keme

Gender: Male

Ability: Static

Hidden Power:

Features:
A Pikachu with more fluff to his fur. Has a tuff of fur on his head.

History:

Personality:
He is a spirited young soul, a noble hero in the making. He has a drive for battle and to get stronger, so he can complete his goal faster. He wants to get stronger, so he can more easily protect those that can’t protect or defend themselves. He wants to prove to others that he's just as capable and strong as others. He is a courageous little mouse with a thirst for adventure.

He is a determined rodent that can be rather stubborn on top of that, refusing to back down from something, especially if it's something he strongly believes in. The Pikachu can be reckless at times, especially when others are in trouble, often leaping in to help without really thinking things through. He is very compassionate and caring, a kind soul. He is rather skillful and intelligent, taking charge when the time comes. He's loyal and will defend those he's close to with his life.

Nice! Accepted, but what's his past? Just asking.
