This year the championships were held in Vancouver, and like any other year were filled with exciting twists and turns for the Pokémon fans battling it out for the title. In the end three were finally crowned champions for the Trading Card Game and the Video Game divisions, interestingly enough while Jason Klaczynski retains his title as the Masters world TCG champion for the third year running. In the Video Game division three time world champion Ray Rizzo went out of the competition fairly early on, setting the stage for a brand new Video Game champion. Arash Ommati taking the title for the Masters marks the first time a European player has done so.
During the closing ceremony for the championships two exciting announcements were made; the first being that the 2014 Pokémon Video Game and Trading Card Game World Championships would be returning to the US and will be held in Washington D.C. The second announcement made was the official reveal of Mega Mawile, Mega Absol, and Mega Ampharoswho were shown off in a nice new trailer which you can find right here.
The official site has updated to reflect the announcement and thus we've learnt a couple of things about these Mega Pokémon. Mega Absol will have an increase in its Attack and Speed boost, while Mega Mawile will have a boost in Defence and Sp. Defence, as well as a boost in Attack thanks to its new ability Huge Power.
It was also announced during the championships that a Pokémon X and Pokémon Y soundtrack will be getting a release worldwide in November, the soundtrack will feature over 200 tracks and have a run time of over 3 and a half hours. It will also come with a booklet in Japan's retail release of the soundtrack detailing the development and background regarding some of the tracks.
