Jacob and Jake quickly found the gym and entered. It was a darker place than Jacob expected, but the two of them found their way to the front of the gym to challenge the two gym leaders. Each trainer would get one pokemon; a 2 v 2 battle overall. Liza and Tate released their pokeballs. Lunatone appeared in front of Liza, and in front of Tate, Solrock. Jacob reached for a pokeball, and threw it onto the floor. In a flash of blue, Mercutio, Jacob's Meditite appeared.
"If you're taking Liza, then Tate is mine. Mercutio, use force palm!" Jacob's Meditite rushed at Solrock, as his hand began to glow.

As Mercutio(Meditite) came down towards Solrock, the pokemon moved back.
"Flamethrower!" Tate shouted. The attack slammed into Mercutio(Meditite), sending him tumbling backwards. Meditite stood back up, only to see Solrock rushing towards him. "Now, Solrock, use tackle!" Solrock slammed into Mercutio, sending him flying backwards again. The pokemon struggled to his feet as Solrock released another flamethrower at the Meditite, as well as fired an attack at Greninja.
"Mercutio, use confusion!" Mercutio glowed as Solrock's flamethrower attack was turned sideways.
"Solrock, use tackle!" Solrock followed his flamethrower attack once again with a tackle, approaching Mercutio rapidly.
"Mercutio, use force palm!" Mercutio leapt into the air, placing his palm on the approaching Solrock, and with one swift move, he sent Solrock tumbling backwards. Now it was Jacob's turn to press the attack. "Mercutio, use confusion again!" Mercutio glowed again, as the harmed Solrock flinched under the attack. "Now, finish this with force palm!" Mercutio leapt forward to the fallen Solrock. However, he never landed the attack. Suspended in the air, both Jacob and Mercutio were confused. They looked over to see Lunatone pause for just a moment in the battle with Greninja to defend Solrock before turning back to its own fight.
"Solrock, use flamethrower!" Solrock fired another blast of fire at Mercutio who was now free from Lunatone's attack.
"Mercutio, use detect!" Mercutio's eyes glowed green as he dodged the flamethrower attack. "Now, use confusion!" Again Mercutio glowed, and Solrock was damaged. This time, the pokemon was also confused. "Perfect, Mercutio! Use force palm!" Mercutio ran over to Solrock, and, placing his palm on the pokemon, send Solrock tumbling backwards, unconscious.

Jacob looked over at his friend.
"Impressive," was all Jacob said. Perhaps Jake had been right; maybe it was a bit unfair. Still, Jacob was satisfied; he and Mercutio(Meditite) had been able to beat Tate and his Solrock. Jacob and Jake left the gym, and Jacob was unsure where to go next. He already finished his goal here in Hoenn; his only other goal here was really to catch some more psychic pokemon.
"Hey Jake," Jacob asked. "Do you happen to know anywhere I could catch some good Psychic pokemon?"

"Hey Jake," Jacob asked. "Do you happen to know anywhere I could catch some good Psychic pokemon?"
"Hmm..." Jacob thought for a moment. He couldn't bring himself to trade any of his pokemon; he had a strong connection with all of them. He figured maybe he'd head out Mt. Chimney. "I think I'm going to head to Lilycove City; it's not too far from here. I've heard there are some rare psychic pokemon in Mt. Chimney,: I think I'm going to take a look there. You're welcome to come with if you like."
