Private/Closed PokéSync: Role Play Thread

Avery chuckled at Noah's enthusiasm as she opened her parcel. Within it was her own trainer card. While many would care about the photo that represented her, she didn't. After all, she had a curse of having terrible photos when it came to everything. What really mattered, was the number. With this, she could nag herself a Pokemon from the League. Although, she could've always turned to the Pokecampers if she didn't make the cut, as they offered some standard Pokemon like Sentret, Pidgy, Hoothoot, Starly, and Shinx if you were lucky. Her grin went from ear to ear, rushing over to her laptop without even opening her other letter. Mrs. Carpenter sighed. "Avery, dear, you have another letter." Avery glanced up at her mom before giving her an apologetic smile and went back over to read the letter from the Pokecampers. She tore the green seal with a Sawsbuck printed into it before she read the paper.
Dear Strongoak Avery Carpenter,
We were given notice of your acceptance into the Bronze League. You may not know this, but we often recommend several campers to join the UPL. You were one of them. When we heard that you were accepted, we were thrilled. But, there are some things you must keep in mind.
You, as always, are representing us. Because of this, we humbly ask you to keep the Camper Code. Failure to do so could lead to expulsion. However, keeping the code will lead us to assist you in what ways we can. This includes us sending you information in the Bronze League, and later, within the Silver, money, jobs, and various other things.
Although you have access to the League Starter Pokemon, we still offer you our library of Pokemon. This is what is offered to all our Campers. As always, we hope you succeed.

Sincerely,
The Pokecampers

Avery lowered the letter and gave a soft smile as she sat down on the couch. "Oh! Noah! Sorry, my parents already want me to pick out a Pokemon with them." She picked up her laptop and called her parents over as she opened a new tab and went to the website and turned the match on the TV as background noise. As her parents were coming in behind her, Avery finished signing in. Her parents muttered to each other, suggesting things like "filter the Pokemon to being gentle" and "Make sure to read the description fully." Avery sighed but headed their advice. After all, Pokemon were dangerous creatures. Wonderful, but dangerous.

As she scrolled through the Pokemon, she eventually found one that caught her eye. It was a blue snake-like Pokemon. A Dratini. She knew what fierce creature it grew up into, and how it was the Kantoen pusdo-legendary. She checked her filters again. They were correct. Hesitantly, she clicked to see the full profile. How could this future terrifying beast be described as sweet and gentle? But then she looked at the eyes of the serpentine Pokemon and she instantly fell in love. "I-I found my Pokemon..."

Her parents looked at the screen. "You sure, dear? pusdo-legendaries are powerful creatures."

Avery smiled. "So? I'm going with this Dratini. Her bio has everything you say a Pokemon of mine should have."

Her parents read through it and her father opened his mouth to protest. However, her mom placed a hand on his shoulder. "If you feel this is the right one, dear, go ahead." Avery clicked confirm on the Dratini. It said that it would be a few minutes, so she found something to do as she waited.

The message boards. Avery found herself there with a few clicks of exploring the site. After all, it was not like they were hidden or anything. She read a few of the messages, detailing why they should go to certain regions. She gave a sigh before typing up one herself.
Hello! Avery Carpenter here! Anyway, I believe we should go Sinnoh! Sinnoh is such a fun place! We have various activities here that aren't just gym battles or contests! We also have the Crogunk Festival, Pokemon Triathlon, Pokemon Dress-up Competition, Pokemon Iceburg Race and so much more! I believe that we should go to Sinnoh due to the stuff we can do there. Also, Cynthia is the best champion :p

Sinnoh was the perfect choice for her! She loved the region she hailed from! And she believed it held its own merit.

Ezio read the replies and felt the need to reply himself. After all, what good would keeping his mouth shut do?

My personal choice is Unova, and I say that as unbiased as I can as a native. There are ten gym badges that are all viable, so you can still make it through the Bronze League even if you are weak to one or two Gym Leaders. There is also the Pokémon World Tournament if you feel confident in yourself, or the Gear Station if you want to truly test yourself and your partners. Nimbasa City also has plenty of fun activities like the Amusement Park, the Musical Theater, Big Stadium and Small Court. For those who are more interested in the history of the region, the Desert Resort, the Nacrene Museum and the Relic Passage are all interesting locations. The region as a whole is easily traversable, save for maybe Twist Mountain which can be reasonably difficult if you are unprepared. However, that mountain is completely optional as you can fly to Lentimas Town and go through Reversal Mountain instead which is easier. The whole region is beautiful, so there is no shortage of pretty scenery.

As the boy posted the message, Lenora, Hawes and his father called him on his Xtransceiver. "Hi? You know that you can just walk here, right?" Ezio raised an eyebrow as he looked at the smiling faces, why did they call him?

"Just checking if this thing works, and to see if you know how it works." Lenora said with a grin as Ezio rolled his eyes.

"I've seen you use it before and it is not hard to tap the pick up icon, now is it?"

"Okay okay, Mr. Grouch. Did you get your Pokémon yet?"

The boy lit up and nodded. "Sure did, let's take a look at them." Grabbing his Pokéball, he released the Pokémon inside and took off his Xtransciever to show the Silicobra to the adults in his life. It was a long Pokémon, longer than Ezio himself. The Ground type looked at their trainer with heavy eyes, as if it was sad, tired or disappointed before letting out a yawn and curling up into a ball to sleep. Whilst it was asleep, Ezio noticed a white marking that looked like the glasses Hawes wore on the brown pouch around its neck. What was it used for?

"Not really the most active Pokémon huh?"

"Look, he's just like you when you were young."

"Ezio had scales when he was young?"

"Har har dee har, are we quite done yet with calling me a snake and sharing youth stories? You three basically saw me grow up, you'd know if I had scales." Ezio rolled his eyes and recalled his Pokémon before looking straight at the adults who were busy laughing. "When I make it big, I'll give you more fun stories to tell. Mark my words dad, trust me."

"I'd mark them, but you are Ezio."

As the three adults erupted in roaring laughter, the boy had to use every ounce of energy in his body to not slam his face onto the keyboard in front of him. It was going to be a long day...

Aurora returned from the grocery store with some pretty hefty bags. Her Chikorita and her Grandmothers Igglybuff both rushed to the door when it swung open and assisted with unloading the four heavy bags into the cupboards and the refrigerator. In the living her Grandmother had been sat watching her favourite shows when she tried to stand up to help Aurora insisted that the elderly lady stay sat down she could handle it, it was just a few groceries.

Once everything was put away Aurora sat down on her bed in her room and watched some old contest videos on her phone, her journey hadn't even begun yet and she was already thinking of ways to utilize her Chikorita in future contests. She scrolled through different contest forums to get an idea of what others have done in the past. She wanted to try and be unique in her performances, and that meant studying everything and anything that has been done.

Chikorita had entered the room after she had left Igglybuff and her Grandmother as they headed out into Snowpoint City to meet up with some of her friends. The old lady brigade and Aurora referred to them.

Chikorita curled up next to Aurora on her bed. Aurora had began to read over all the messages in the chat forum about all the different regions and replied:

Hey everyone! My names Aurora it's nice to meet you all here, been meaning to respond for a few days now but been busy helping my Grandmother with her errands. I've always wanted to explore the world but I want to get a bit stronger before that so I say we go through Sinnoh! It's a great place especially my frozen city in the north Snowpoint city! But of course I don't mind where we go, me and my Chikorita Peresephone can't wait to meet you all!

Noah's smile didn't falter at his friend's response, but deep inside he was a little jealous. He couldn't help but wish that his parents were as supportive as hers when it came to Pokemon journeys, and that he could just sit down with them to talk about what kind of Pokemon he wanted to get. But that was outside the realm of possibility. His parents didn't trust Pokemon, that was just a fact. Noah completely understood why she'd want to look for Pokemon with her parents, though. He decided to make light of the matter to hide his inner thoughts, nodding to show his acceptance of her wish and cracking a joke. "Yeah, that's cool. Besides, you can't have me knowing your starter and picking one to counter it, can you?" He chuckled a little, and paused to think.

"Perhaps it would be best to just say, 'I'll leave you guys to it, then,' and just leave. But... I don't really want to. Besides, they have the League battles on here... Although, this is kind of a special, once in a lifetime occasion, so maybe they want it to be just them? Well... It's also once in a lifetime for me, and my parents certainly won't appreciate the occasion, so I'll just stay here. Maybe... yeah, over there will work."

Inner debate concluded, Noah moved off to one side of the living room and sat down on the floor. He positioned himself so that he could still see the TV, but also let the group over by the couch have plenty of space. He pulled a pair of cheap earbuds out of his pocket and proceeded to spend the larger part of a minute getting the wires untangled, before putting them in his ears. He then re-opened his phone, which had closed itself while left idle, and left the United League app in order to open Dottlerfy, his music app of choice. Before long, his Chill Beats playlist was set to shuffle play and he had gone back over to the United League app.

He quickly found the Pokemon Project and began looking at the available starters. There were several of the regional classics, like Charmander and Turtwig, and also plenty of less traditional options, like Shroomish and Clauncher. Noah took his time scrolling through the first page, making notes on each option he saw.

"Charmander is a classic starter, with decent moves too. When it evolves to Charizard, it becomes capable of Mega Evolution, and it can do well whether it has special or physical type moves. Not to mention being able to fly on one is a big bonus. If your opponent has Stealth Rocks, though, it's game over for a Charizard.

Turtwig is really defensive, but it gets overrun quickly by anything with an Ice type move. Its best offensive Grass move has big recoil, too, so probably not what I want right now... plus, its description says it has a Hasty nature, so I'll just skip this one...

Shroomish is a little slow, but with Spore it could be good. Leech Seed too... but I'll come back to this one, I still think a dragon would be better.

Clauncher... Its evolution, Clawitzer tends to do pretty well, blasting high-power pulse moves and dealing lots of damage. Not really what I'm looking for, though..."

He went through the entire first page of listings before he realized there was a filter feature that he could use. He quickly took advantage of this, setting his search parameters to show him only Pokemon with the Dragon typing. There were lots of good options there, and a couple quickly caught his eye: a Bagon and a Deino. Opening up their pages on separate tabs, he began reviewing their personalities.

"Deino, the Irate Pokemon. Dark/Dragon type, which is pretty strong offensively. This one was hatched from a donated egg, and... says here that it's female, and has a Rash nature. It also says she tends to be pretty finnicky. Hmm...
Once it evolves, it becomes a Hydriegon, which is really strong, and the only really big threats are Fairy and Fighting types. Definitely a good choice, although I've heard they're a little hard to control. Oh, and they can fly, which is nice for travel farther down the road."

He switched tabs to look at the Bagon, next, but as he was about to start reading, a thought occurred to him.

"If other people are thinking the same way I am, they'll be going for the strong Dragon types if they can find them. It isn't a bad strategy at all, because Dragons are crazy strong, and they even do well when fighting against one another. Nothing wrong with picking a dragon. But if lots of people are picking Dragons... what if I got a Fairy instead? They're really good against Dragon types, and they don't have many weaknesses either. Let's see... they're only weak to Steel and Poison types, and super-effective against Dragon, Fighting and Dark types. I'm pretty sure Fire types resist Fairy moves, though... well, that isn't too important. I'll come back to Bagon later, I want to look at some Fairy types."

He went back to the filter settings and changed them to search for Fairy type Pokemon. The first to catch his eye on the new page was a Togepi.

"Togepi could be difficult to evolve, but once they do they're strong. Champion Cynthia has one on her team, and it's an absolute monster to deal with. Extremespeed, Air Slash, Aura Sphere, Ancient Power... and another Flier... yeah, definitely a good choice... Let's see the details." He clicked on the info page for the Togepi. "Hm, Male, Jolly nature... That can be worked around. How about your bio...? Nods off a lot, doesn't like walking and will refuse to move until picked up? Hm... likes to prank others? I don't know, that doesn't seem like something I'm ready for right off the bat. I'll keep looking."

He moved on, reviewing the bios of a Azurill, a Cottonee, and a Morelull. None appealed to him, though. He was about to abandon the idea and leave the page in order to return to the Dragon Types when something caught his attention again: the Feeling Pokemon, Ralts. He gave a mental shrug ("might as well, I suppose") and opened the bio.

Ralts
Feeling Pokemon - Psychic/Fairy

This Ralts is rather Timid and shy, but still friendly as long as you can get her to trust you. She is very kind to those she is comfortable around. She's sensitive to loud noises, and Alert to Sounds in general. If she gets spooked, she will usually teleport a short distance away to hide. She likes sweet foods, and dislikes spicy ones, although she doesn't seem particularly picky.

After reviewing the bio, and taking a look at the picture of her peeking out from behind a tree with one small hand held up to her mouth, Noah was almost fully convinced to pick her as his starter.

"She seems really sweet... only male Ralts can evolve into Gallade, so she'll end up being a Gardevoir when she evolves. Gardevoir is a good Pokemon, I've seen what Champion Diantha's can do. Especially with Mega Evolution... Yeah, I think I want her."

He glanced up from his screen. It looked like the current battle was just about to wrap up, so he thought about pausing to watch the finale. His music was still playing, so he couldn't hear the commentators talking about the battle, but he could still tell what was going on fairly well. He had watched similar battles before, so unless one side really pulled out a surprise move, the winner was pretty much already decided. That in mind, he decided to get back to his choice.

He turned his attention back to his phone. He should probably read the Bagon's bio, and review the Deino's as well, but... Ralts just seemed like such a good choice as a starter. It would also evolve more quickly as well, which would be a help in a race like the Bronze League. After a few more seconds of deliberation, during which he bit at his lower lip and furrowed his eyebrows in thought, he made his decision. He would choose Ralts.

Noah pressed the button on her page to select her as his starter. A confirmation screen popped up, and he paused. This was his last chance to take back his choice... but he didn't want to. Taking a deep breath, he hit the confirmation button. After a few seconds of the screen showing a buffering wheel, a message popped up giving an Estimated Time of Arrival and a few more details. He took a screenshot just in case, and then closed the tab.

He wanted to go check out the discussion threads next, but before he could, he noticed that some kind of notification from the league was available to be read. Figuring it was probably at least somewhat important, he opened it... and was instantly notified he would have to sign a death waiver. Of course, he knew that the Bronze League could be pretty dangerous, and he really should have been expecting this, but... it kind of spoiled the good mood he from choosing his starter. He decided to read the rest of the message later, in favor of browsing the forums.

The first thing he stumbled upon was a debate about which region should be held in that year. He spent a couple of minutes reading through other people's opinions, glancing up at the television in between posts. Once he had a feel for what was happening in the thread, he leaned back, thinking about his own choice for a region.

He began writing up a draft, and once he had finished and reviewed it, he popped out his earbuds and hit send.

Heya trainers, I'm Noah Ashville. I'm casting my vote for Sinnoh as well, although I'd be fine with Kanto or Galar as well. Alola would be higher, but it doesn't have any Gyms, and I'd personally like to challenge some of the classic establishments.

Ron looked through the messages in the forum. It seemed people didn't really have a preference as to where to start their journey. He looked up at Furia, she seemed to be too distracted by her meal to notice Ron's frustration. However, watching the little Pokemon eat made Ron calm down a bit more. He needed to locate a team, it was probably the most important part. The region was probably the least important part he cared about, just as long as it wasn't Kalos, the last thing he needed was to run into his sisters or worse, his father. Ron stuffed a couple of boneless chicken into his mouth and began typing in the forum:

At this rate, any region will probably do, my choice is still Johto. BTW anyone interested in teaming up? I'm looking to qualify for the conference, I play the drums, listen to punk rock, like to eat and drink, but also take my training very seriously. Also, currently single.

The two enjoyed their meal until they had finally filled up, Ron could already feel a bit better and he sensed Furia's satisfaction. The pair made their way out of the restaurant, deciding to keep walking to improve their bond as best as possible before starting the league challenge. As they walked down the streets, Ron had to stop a couple of times to stop himself from throwing up, which caused some people walking by to make faces or lecture him about drinking, but he just flicked them off and kept going. Furia seemed to try and avoid anyone else as much as possible, walking closely to Ron, but managing to keep from messing up his footing. Finally, they arrived at a local mart, that focused on traveling equipment for trainers.

"Welcome to the Bicycle shop! We no longer only specialize in bicycles, we now specialize and many other items fit for traveling and to be the best trainer there is!" A young lady who was probably getting paid minimum wage smiled at Ron and Furia as they entered the store.

The two quickly made their way to the backpacks available, there was a large variety of colors, sizes and decorations. Furia was confused by one that seemed to be the face of a Cyndaquil and you opened its mouth to store your items. Ron snickered and shook his head, he was not going to be walking around in that one. The kept looking through options until they saw a dark blue one, it seemed simple and Furia seemed to like the dark color. They took the dark blue bag and went on to check camping equipment.

Soon they reached the proper section, where a man offered to help them set up their equipment so they could have it ready to go once they left the store and wouldn't have to do it at home. Ron agreed and the man began following them around, suggesting several items and giving his opinion on certain brands. Silph Co. items seemed to be the most popular, it seemed that company had all sort of products now a days. Ron made sure to get a sleeping bag, a tent for two in case he got a visitor, two pillows since Furia might need one when she got bigger, he got a simple cooking set, nothing too complicated, a flashlight and a small generator just in case he needed to charge something. Soon the employee of the store managed to make sure everything fit just fine and even left enough space for clothes and others things to be added. After paying the man and telling the girl the door she could get a better job, Ron and Furia finally headed down to Ron's apartment.

"She seems a bit angry." Ron's roommate said while crouching down to take a closer look at Furia.

"You're making her uncomfortable." Ron called out from his room while packing some clothes into his backpack.

Furia was indeed annoyed by the chubby blonde man that smelled like somehow who had been out in the heat and sweating without having showered or changed clothes in a while. She was getting ready to tackle down the man invading her personal space, when he got up and walked over to the fridge to get a beer. The fire mouse Pokemon took this opportunity to quickly make her way to Ron's room. She sniffed around, Ron's scent was mostly around the room and for some reason the sent of that one blue haired girl also. While Furia looked around, Ron finished packing everything up.

He had included swim shorts, running shoes, sweatpants, muscle shirts, a couple of boxers, gloves and the essentials like a toothbrush, body wash, shampoo, deodorant and even a razor. The last thing he added was two T-shirts and one change of jeans, just in case and food. He included Pokemon food and easy to make food for himself and Furia to use during those nights they needed to camp. He double checked everything, making sure he was well prepared to at least survive through the routes, hopefully he wouldn't end up lost somewhere. He left his backpack on a chair and threw himself on his bed, with Furia joining him quickly and curling up on his side. Now all that was left to do was to wait.

“Be careful with that now. You have heard about the side effects, right?”

After taking the pokeball, Acer was warned once again about the supposed side effects new trainers get after creating their first synchronization bond. The delivery man himself had been holding the pokeball with a glove of his own to avoid potential energy drainage. On the other hand, Acer held the pokeball with his bare hand. Truthfully, Acer did start to feel a bit tired, but it wasn’t as crazy as the stuff he read online. When he had asked his sister awhile back, Alyssa told him that the side effects were over exaggerated. She already had her Pokémon, so if anyone could confirm this, it would be her. Right now, it seemed as if she was absolutely correct.

“Yeah, I’ve heard of them. I’m feeling pretty fine right now though. Thanks again for delivering my starter.”

The delivery man from the Pokémon center looked a bit surprised the teen didn’t seem to be bothered by any side effects. Once Acer bid farewell to the delivery man from the Pokémon Center, he rushed upstairs to his room. Neither his parents nor his smirking sister tried to stop him. This was it. He was finally about to meet his partner for the first time. As Acer made it to the top of the staircase, he found himself starting to feel a bit dazed. Of course, he just brushed it off and slowly walked down the hallway to his room. Slowly but surely, the pounding of his head started to grow more intense by the second.

“Fuck! This actually hurts! Damn her!”

Acer cursed as he pushed the door open and stumbled into his room, with his free hand clutching his throbbing forehead. Alyssa had tricked him. The headache was unlike any he had felt before and the boy wobbled further into his room, dropping the pokeball on the floor, before eventually letting himself collapse face first onto his soft bed. Acer continued to mutter out curses, primarily directed at his conniving older sister, who had clearly lied to him about the harsh side effects. He just laid there, with his eyes completely shut. Seeing the light every time he opened his eyes just seemed to make it worse. He could only hope that the softness of the pillow would help alleviate the pain. It didn’t help that the TV in his room was still on. While the volume wasn’t too high, it was still loud enough to worsen his condition. The battle going on must’ve been quite intense as the commentators as well as the crowd seemed louder than they originally were. Even if it pained him to do so, Acer turned his head to the side, slightly opening his eyes to see the battle on TV.

Like it was with the finals of years past, this year was no exception. The battle was extremely close, with both trainers and their Pokémon giving it their all. It wasn’t a necessity to compete in regional conferences, yet trainers every year were willing to push past their limits just to win. Both trainers were panting as sweat continued to drip off their chins onto what was once a clean battlefield. One of them had even removed their jacket while the other trainer’s hat was nowhere to be found. Yet, they still stood beside their Pokémon until the very end. These two were truly the elite of the elite when it came to the trainers of the current Bronze league. As Acer watched the battle, he began to realize something. All those trainers had made their first synchronization bond at one point or another. Each one of them had to have gone through something similar to him, yet here he was groveling on a bed.

“Damn it! I can’t let this of all things keep me down!”

Acer pushed his palms into his bed and forced himself to get up. All the elite trainers before him dealt with the side effects, so Acer couldn’t just let the pain defeat him if he wanted to reach their level. He barely managed to sit up on the side of the bed after a few seconds. The teen still grasped his forehead in pain as he looked down at the floor. When Acer did, he noticed something rather peculiar right besides the pokeball that had been dropped. There appeared to be a little white creature looking at him with a quizzical expression. The pokeball must’ve activated when dropped and now Acer didn’t want to believe what he was seeing.

“Great. I’m hallucinating now. These side effects are crazy!”

There was no way his starter had been a Ralts. Out of nearly 900 options, he got the one his sister would relentlessly tease him for. He could already hear Alyssa laughing at his horrible luck. The rates were clearly rigged against him and Acer simply refused to accept it as he eyed the tiny humanoid Pokémon. One of its thin arms was raised up to its chin as it gazed around his bedroom. His room probably seemed very spacious to the small Pokémon. The Ralts tilted its head to the side as it looked back to examine him before moving to check out the rest of the room. As the Pokémon slowly traversed the floor, Acer took a closer look at it. Being that this was the first time he had seen a Ralts in person, Acer was already able to pick up some things he hadn’t noticed before. With a closer look, one could see the wispy extension that trailed off the back of its little feet, creating the general impression of a nightgown or oversized dress.

Another interesting feature was what appeared to be a sort of green helmet over its head and face. In all actuality, it was actually just green hair shaped into a bowl cut. His first priority would’ve been to give the Ralts another hairstyle, but he was unsure if that hair could even be cut. He’d never seen a Ralts with a different hairstyle after all. Well, now that he thought about it, a Ralts without the usual hairstyle would look weird. One thing that would remain constant about the top of its head would at least be the two flat, red horns. There was a large one in the front and a smaller one at the back. Acer had heard they use those horns to read people’s emotions and stuff. Perhaps Ralts could tell he wasn’t exactly too excited by its presence. Either way, Acer would have to deal with it. Plus, if it was a boy, then he could evolve it into a Gallade.

“A Gallade would be pretty cool I suppose.”

As Acer made that comment, the brief sound of a notification from his computer was heard. It must’ve been an announcement from the United League. Fortunately, now that the headache was starting to fade away, the noise didn’t bother him too much. He got up off his bed and went over to the seat by his PC and sat down on it before looking at the Ralts, who had also been attracted by the noise. It was clearly still confused about what was going on or where it was for that matter. Honestly, he could probably do a better job with helping it get comfortable. Acer let out a brief sigh before turning his chair to the side to face the Ralts. Then he bent over and outstretched his hand to get it to come to him. Of course, the Ralts looked at him curiously, with its tiny right arm held up, touching its chin again. Nervously, the somewhat shy Ralts slowly moved towards his hands and stopped once it was close enough for Acer to grab it. As expected, the feeling pokemon was pretty light and Acer was able to lift it up and rest the Ralts on his lap with ease.

“Um, hello. I’m Acer. Nice to meet you.”

Looking down at his new partner, who was now observing its new surroundings, Acer finally gave it a formal greeting. The Ralts just gazed up at him for a moment, with green hair covering its eyes. Then it reached out with its tiny arm and touched his stomach. Acer didn’t know what it was doing, but responded by petting it on the head. It’s hair was as soft as he expected, but the horns were surprisingly sturdy. Not like he expected them to be like rubber or something, but the horns were just harder than one might expect them to be. The Ralts seemed to enjoy the feeling of him rubbing the horns as a smile began to grow on its face. It let out a pleased sound before eventually sitting on his lap. Acer let one of his hands rest on its head and found himself smiling a bit. It was an indescribable, almost surreal moment to be sitting with his own Pokémon. He planned to give it a nickname, but didn’t know which one to choose yet. Knowing what gender it was would also help as well. That, among many other things he wanted to do with Ralts, would have to wait till later as he wanted to check out the announcement first.

Scanning through his inbox, Acer found that the United League had released a large amount of information relating to the Bronze League and some of its conditions. The first one was probably one of the most controversial ones, the United League wanting them to sign something that protected them from backlash should the trainers themselves die at any time during the Bronze League. After that was a mention of the poll where the trainers could vote on what region the current Bronze League would be held in. There was certainly bound to be a bunch of activity on the accompanying thread. Maybe he could find some teammates there among whatever debate was possibly happening at the moment. After skimming through the rest of the details, Acer clicked the link to the poll. Once he was at the new site, Acer quickly scrolled down to the section where his fellow trainers were chatting to see what was going on.
Honestly, for us guys, I suggest Alola. The island challenges seem dope and unique from the other regions. The setup of the region is also split into islands, which makes this race more interesting since there will likely be different groups on different islands at all times. Plus the weather there is also pretty great. But the best part is, just think of the beaches and the baddies we can find there. It’s a whole ass paradise! At the very least, it’s better than shitty Johto lmao
Hey Bryan, that’s actually a good suggestion! I’ve heard the girls in Alola are pretty nice too. Honestly, I’m down for Alola. Better than overrated Sinnoh for sure! Oh btw man, wanna team up?
Stfu you clowns. Maybe if you get lucky, you’ll find an Alolan Jynx to satisfy your needs. Also, Alola is for wimps who are too scared to face a real challenge in a gym.

And you sit down too Ron! Maybe you been too drunk off that beer you be drinking but I don’t remember anyone asking what instrument you play or your relationship status and Johto is just Kanto 2.0 anyways.
@Hecotoro
Oh and is your name really Robert Dean? Ofc you chose a basic ass region with that basic ass name. That goes for you too Guy. Like who names their child Guy?!
@sSoul @ThAtGuY101
Also, don’t think I missed that Avery. Lance >>> Cynthia. Let’s be real here, it’s not even close.

For all you fools who voted Unova, idek what to say. That region is just irrelevant.

Anyways listen you scrubs! Kanto is where it’s at. Nothing else compares to that region! If ykyk

“Bruh. What the heck did I just read?”

While the delusional guy who had gone off on everyone was typing another response, Acer was just sitting there confused. It seemed like things were already starting to heat up with the debates. To be honest, it was a bit entertaining to see the little arguments and Acer wasn’t exactly sure if he wanted to join in on the fun or now. After spending a moment pondering his thoughts, he began typing something. Truthfully, Acer wasn’t too concerned about what region was selected. Staying in Kalos would be cool, but it wouldn’t exactly be anything new since he’d lived in the region for his entire life so far. A lot of the other regions didn’t exactly intrigue him as well. Alola and Johto could be fun due to the events and island challenges. However, he was leaning a bit more towards Sinnoh, primarily because of its rich history that he had learnt about. His parents had lived there and in Hoenn as well. None of the options had a significant reason to cause him to completely lean one way or the other, so Acer just went with Sinnoh.
Yo, I’m Acer and honestly idrc what region gets chosen. I’d vote for Sinnoh just cuz, but I’m gonna win every league race either way, so y’all can choose whatever.

After around the hundredth time Paige’s Rotom phone buzzed, she finally opened the UPL’s app. She found her account flooded with notifications from the forum thread she’d been keeping tabs on, and began to skim through all the messages she had missed. She couldn’t help but laugh at some of the posts that were either completely unhelpful or just plain ridiculous. Niku had been returned to his Pokeball, but the girl could still feel his presence at the back of her mind, as though he was seeing through her eyes.

Paige opened a new textbox, her thumbs hovering over the keys for a few seconds before she began typing.

Hey y’all! I’m Paige, here from Kalos~ honestly I don’t particularly care where we end up, but Johto, Sinnoh, or my home region Kalos would be most preferable in terms of travel conditions... I’m perfectly flexible tho I’d be up to head to Alola or someplace if I’m outvoted... anyway whatevs I’m sure it’ll be fun either way to eat all the foreign sweets team up with some of y’all and train for the league~

She sent it into the thread with a sigh of relief; hopefully she wouldn’t have to do much now that her voice had been heard, aside from finding teammates. She had sounded flippant in her message, but she really wasn’t too keen on the idea of blowing half her League funds on traveling to Alola. Hopefully, if it was a long-distance trip, the UPL would cover it... Although she was 100% serious about trying all the foreign sweets.

~Guy Jonah...~

After Guy left the trainer's school, "WHere tooo next..." Guy said licking the tip of his finger before pointing it straight in the air then spinning before pointing his hand in a random direction, "Thaaaaaaa-at way! That way!" Guy said.
"Bonsly bon!(Translation: That way! That way!)"

Guy smiled before making his way downtown. Walking fast, and headed to the pokécenter. As he headed inside, he bumped into a boy holding a pachirisu. "Oh... S-s-sorry... Excuse me please" The boy said before Guy scooted over to let him pass. Guy continued to walk over to the computer terminal. He instantly called his parents.

~Guy & Ford(Dad)...~

"Hello? Guy, I see your calling from the pokécenter..." Ford said.
"Hi dad! Guess where I'm at!" Guy said.
"The Jubilife City Pokécenter" Ford said.
"How'd you know?!" Guy asked surprised.
"One, theres a magic word called caller ID. Two, you have no flying pokemon and I know damn well you didn't run to Sangem Town, Oreburgh City, or Floaroma Town that fast." Ford said with an unamused face.
"Yeah... Where's mom?! I wanna say hi to mom! Can I say hi to mom?" Guy asked.
"Nah. She's outside working with the pokémon. Maybe next time" Ford said.
"Wanna see my new cell phone?!" Guy said.
"Why have a cell phone if your not gonna use it dingus..." Ford said.
"Oh right... Forgot I can call with this" Guy said.
*Sigh* "This is why I drink" Ford said.
"Cool huh? It had a pokemon in it! I already took a bunch of pics with it" Guy said holding his phone out.
"Cool cool..." Ford said.
"Got any advice for my adventure?" Guy asked.
"yeah. Remember to keep up with your studies" Ford said.
"And?" Guy asked.
"Eat properly and always have food for on the road" Ford responded again.
"Anything else?" Guy said.
"I'm not ready to become a grandp- I mean, stay safe out there. Don't get hurt or do anything stupid" Ford said.
"Ugh-huh! Safety first!" Got it. Bring my safety tools and all my digging equipment" Guy said.
"Smart. I'll tell your mom you called, when she's finished with work" Ford said.
"Bye!" Guy said.
"Bye" Ford said.
"Tell Craig I got a cell phone!" Guy said.
"Just call him yourself... Bye" Ford said hanging up.

"I'ma call Craig later today" Guy said grinning. He decided to log into the forums. He changed his profile picture to him posing with his foot up against a tree, and whip in his hand, and Goju on his shoulder.

"Nice" Guy said cheerfully. As he got on, he noticed a comment. "Gasp!" Guy said in response to the comment. He quickly began typing back.

Yo! Sorry you feel that way. No need to hate me cause I'm beautiful. Try to stay outta trouble, eat your vegetables, obey your mama, and don't skip school. :up::up::D:D:-O:-O8)8):8B::8B::):):angel::angel:

@Retro Master

Guy continued to write on the forums.

Please don't be Kanto. Please don't be Kanto. Please don't be Kanto. Pleeeeeeaaaase! Areus please. In baby lugia's name please don't be Kanto. Also please don't be mad Kanto peeps. Unova would be so coool! I hear theres a castle in the desert! Do you guys got that in Kanto? Probably not. Johto would be neat to.. I hear they got these ruins where these strange unknown pokemon live... Now that's cool!

Guy was pretty contempt with his posts. He smiled before leaning back in his seat. Goju sat on his shoulder, "Booonsly" Goju let out a yawn. For now Guy was mostly waiting. He thought about going to the television broadcasting station. It wasn't far from here, and it would be a nice place to visit before beginning his journey.

Akane walked out of her bathroom wearing her favorite outfit, her pink sweater and shorts, while at the same time drying her hair with her towel. She quickly set her eyes on the Rotom Phone, she loved the shiny pink color on it. Her attention then shifted to the trainer card on it. She had dreamed about going around the world, taking pictures of the best Pokemon contests and battles while sketching wild Pokemon in their natural habitat. Today was finally the day she could start the long path towards her dreams.

The red head quickly put on her shoes, grabbed her camera, her new Rotom Phone, trainer card and rushed out of the house, with her mom waving goodbye from her work room. Akane walked quickly down the street, trying to get to the Pokemon Center as soon as possible. She had to be careful though, Vermillion was always buzzing with sailors and construction workers, bumping into any of them could be lethal. The streets were busy as always, with people selling their best merchandise that had just arrived, fishermen talking and comparing their catch of the day and of course trainers, looking to challenge Lt. Surge. Normally Akane would walk around, taking pictures and drawing her favorite scenes from the day, but today it was her day!

Akane finally reached the Pokemon Center, she didn't hesitate in walking in and looking around to see where she could get her lovely Pichu. There seemed to be other trainers doing the same thing, while some were talking about strategies and other battle subjects. It didn't take long for Akane to identify the pink hair of the nurse and she skipped over to her, waiting her turn to get her attention.

"There you are! I was looking out for you ever since I saw a Pokemon had arrived for you." Nurse Joy said while waving at Akane and asking her to get closer.

"Is she really here?" Akan asked looking anxiously at the Pokeballs behind Nurse Joy.

"She is! She arrived a few moments ago, I figured you would be in soon to pick her up."

Nurse Joy took the Pokeball that contained the Pichu and gave it to Akane. The red head knew she had to be careful about the bond experience, so she walked over to a nearby table and sat down. She took a deep breath and exhaled loudly while reaching over and placing her hand on the Pokeball. Soon she began to feel nauseous and tired but at the same time excited since she could clearly feel the Pokemon inside. She began to feel nervous now and it seemed the small little Pichu inside also. Akane decided on that spot to have her Pokemon stay inside the Pokeball until they were back home. Now she needed to somehow get back home without throwing up.

"I'll get you a taxi!" Nurse Joy called out, clearly seeing Akane's troubled expression.

* * * 10 Minutes Later * * *

Akane sat on her couch, looking at the Pokeball set on the coffee table in front of her. Her mother stood a few feet away, with her camera ready to capture every moment of when her daughter would meet her first Pokemon. Akane reached over once again, this time picking up the Pokeball and holding to her chest. She took a second to try and feel what the Pichu was feeling, waiting for her to also be ready to come out of her comfort inside the Pokeball. Once she felt they were both prepared she pressed the button and out came out an adorable little Pichu that appeared safely on the small table in front of Akane.

"Hi!" Akane leaned close as the small mouse sniffed her. "I'm Akane, that's my mom and you're Michi!"

"Pichu!" The little mouse cheered as a few sparks flew from her pink cheeks.

Akane giggled and squirmed unable to contain how cute her new partner was! Michi did the same and soon both were squirming and squealing while her mother took pictures. The rest of the day was pretty calm. Akane showed Michi around the house, her art, her photos, and also her mother's work, which seemed to interest the Pichu a lot. She also taught Pichu how to flush the toilet, just in case! Afterwards, they packed Akane's things, including camping gear, cooking materials, a small case for her camera, her sketchbooks, change of clothes, drawing materials and some accessories for Michi and of course food, lots of it. The two finally settled on Akane's bed, looking over social media and reading the forum on the UPL site.

Hi! My name is Akane Ito and I really don't care where we go :p My and my adorable Pichu just want to travel and see all the possible Pokemon in the world. I just hope I don't get teamed up with some of the trash talkers on here :D

Ally had watched the Nurse present what seemed to be an inconspicuous item, well one to experienced trainers anyway. But for her, it had been a sight worth the eyes as her own gaze seemed to glimmer with a shimmer; a reflection of the shine of the object in her own eyes, the object in question being a sphere-shaped object of white and red. The iconic staple of this ever integrated Pokemon society, even in the wake of that incident which threatened that delicate balance...the Pokeball. Inside would be Ally's partner, that Pichu she had ordered, which given the breed she had gotten was native to Alola she figured was a factor in the speedy arrival as she had almost a dumb struck look on her face.

This was not some childhood dream, or some fantasy...this had been real, this was it, her partner was right there and she had taken the biggest step to beginning her journey to be. Course, she had to wait for the big announcement from the league, then of course the ceremony tonight and then she had to form a bond with her partner.

Something that, unlike in generations past, had not been so simple as it had used to be.

Regardless, Allly carefully worked to grab the Pokeball and glanced upon it, she had no way to sense or "feel" what was inside, that would come when she was advised on the Synchronization Bond at the ceremony tonight. And speak of the devil, she had gotten an update from the Union App as the big announcement came as she had made a point to read it twice over, just to be sure she understood what was expected for this Bronze League. The most important thing, for the moment, was the survey which asked her to name a region for this event to take place in as she quickly worked to fill in her answer.

Hello, my name is Allison Morrison, though I prefer to go by Ally for short. There are many wonderful regions in the world, so this has been a difficult thing to vote upon. My heart and spirit will always be in Alola, but I have decided I would like this to take place in Sinnoh. I've longed to explore beyond my home and have heard nothing but wonder from that land.

Once Ally had made her answers to the survey, she submitted her answer, she set her Pokesketch aside and kept her Pokeball close before she'd make her way out of the Pokemon Center. With business settled here, there had only been one thing for the Alola native to do as she moved quickly to head back home but had made sure to be a touch more careful this time considering the cargo but even with that precaution it had been hard to die down her enthusiasm.

“That’s enough for today!” Blaine shouted from one end of Cinnabar’s battlefield. On the opposite side his protege, Acacia, stood hunched over on wobbling legs, dripping with sweat as he gasped for air.

“N.... no.” He wheezed, “We’re...not.....done....yet.”

“Seriously?” Blaine chuckled, “You sure look done to me. I mean come on kid, we do this nearly every day. It’s getting old, just admit that you lost.”

“...Ne...ver.....” Acacia could taste the blood in his throat as he weakly croaked out his words. “W-Windie...use.... em-“ His knees buckled and he stumbled forward, coughing in the process and unable to summon the energy to command the attack while remaining conscious.

“Yeah... we’re done. Go get yourself cleaned up and we can get a pizza and watch the Bronze League tournament.” Blaine returned his Arcanine.

“F-fine.... call.... it... a... draw.” Acacia smirked through labored breaths and recalled Windie, secretly grateful that Blaine had forced him to quit.

“Hahaha, sure.”

A slow walk back to Blaine’s house and a warm shower later, Acacia had made himself a protein shake and slumped into the couch, allowing the soft cushions to relieve the stress from his aching muscles after yet another long day of training. Windie had followed suit and jumped up onto the couch and rested his head on Acacia’s black shorts.

He figured Blaine was out getting the food and decided to get to work on his Bronze League registration using his rotom phone. A chuckle escaped his lips as he looked at the unflattering image of him napping that he had submitted for his ID after losing a bet to Blaine. Nobody’s gonna want to be on my team, I look like an idiot. Still, he convinced himself not to worry about it too much. No matter who was on his team the end result had to be the same and he’d work with whatever he was given. After opting to bring his own starter, Acacia watched as the beginning funds were transferred into his account. He briefly skimmed the list of rules they had given before submitting his vote for Alola, for no reason other than thinking the weather would be nice. Once that was settled, Acacia promptly off his phone and flicked the tv onto the Bronze League Conference.

Fully engrossed in the battle, Acacia didn’t even notice Blaine walking in holding a pizza box. As a scientist, Blaine was a man of observation, and he never got tired of observing his student. Though Acacia tried his best to put on a front of someone who did everything effortlessly and lived without a care, Blaine had gotten to know the boy well enough over the past few years to pick up on the tells revealing the curious albeit damaged child Acacia tried so hard to conceal. The way his eyes just barely widened when a trainer used a tactic that impressed him and then his brow furrowed as he tried to plot counter measures against the very same tactic. The way his jaw clenched and his eyes squinted when a trainer made a move he disagreed with. Or even the way the fingers on his right hand fluttered ever so subtly as he tried to calm the anxiety trigged from the tension of the battle by pretending to play a piece of classical piano. One thing was for certain: as much as Acacia hated to admit he was impressed by other people, the boy was constantly taking mental notes of everything he observed in an attempt to prepare himself for if he ever encountered a similar situation in his future.

“Food’s here.”

Blaine’s soft spoken words shocked Acacia out of his trance, causing him to flinch. The old scientist to let out a soft chuckle in response before making himself comfortable on the opposite end of the couch and set the pizza on the ottoman.

The smell of the melted cheese drifted into Acacia’s nose and cause him to salivate, a hungry excitement taking over after a long day of training. Eagerly, he reached for the box a flipped the lid open, only to have his heart completely and utterly broken.

“Wh-what is this?” He asked, his eyes almost tearing up at the monstrosity of a pie and Windie recoiled at the scent. Acacia was by no means a picky eater, he would’ve settled for a meat lovers, everything, or even an alfredo pizza, but what was in front of him was inedible. Broccoli, pineapple, anchovies, and olives... it was a complete and utter disgrace to what is easily one of the most adaptable foods.

Blaine seemed disappointed as well, the sight nearly causing the old man to have a stroke. “I swear to Arceus that is not what I ordered... I’ll go get a new one right away!”

“No no, it’s fine. I’m rested up anyways and I wouldn’t want you to exert your old bones..... come on Windie, let’s go.” The puppy hopped up and together the duo made their way onto the streets of Cinnabar.

Contrary to their typically energetic disposition, they strolled casually down the soft sandy roads. Acacia was unable to be enamored with the island, the way the breeze gently carried in the smell of sea salt of the rhythmically crashing waves that reminded him of his home in Slateport. The way the sky turned a beautiful pink color as the sun sank into the horizon. Despite the chaos of the world around them, something about the island always felt tranquil, like they were untouchable.

But, like most things that seem too good to be true, this sunset was far from perfect. Windie sensed it first and jumped in front of his trainer, growling at an unseen threat.

“What is it boy?” Acacia braced himself for a battle. It was rare, but on occasion a savage Pokémon would wander into the town and cause a disturbance. Acacia knew they didn’t have much energy left, but he’d have to hope it was something as little as an angry rattata that spooked his dog.

“Stupid thing! Cost me my chance at making it to the Silver League!” A harsh voice followed by the sound of a whimper exploded from the nice house to their right. The door flung open and a small black fox was kicked out into the street. “I swear if you come crawling back here again.... well I’ll just have to kill you!”

The outburst had caused Acacia and Windie to jump and pivot in the direction it came from. While he expected to see some brutish pokemon abuser, Acacia was shocked to be presented a familiar face.

“....Jett?”

“Sup?” The boy sneered in return. It was Jett Blackthorn, another product of Cinnabar who left for the Bronze League around six months before. It was a complicated relationship between the two of them. Though Acacia had always been fairly easy going, something about Jett just always rubbed him the wrong way and brought out Acacia’s competitive side. Unfortunately, there was never really any competition. Jett was the golden boy of the island, and Acacia was the homeschooled Hoenn immigrant that lived with the weird scientist and never really made any close human friends.

“What’re you doing back here? Shouldn’t you be competing in the Bronze League?”

“Yeah, I should, but this stupid thing scammed me out of my chances. I got stuck with an incompetent team so to try to catch up I used the last of my cash buying a Metagross... turns out it was just this piece of shit using illusion. They really tricked me too, giving me this fancy looking pokeball when it’s really no better than a normal one.” Jett palmed the cherish ball, his burgundy eyes glaring at it with a look of disgust.

Sidetracked by the conversation, it seemed neither boy noticed the Zorua limp back to its trainer in an act of loyalty. “I told you to stay away!” A swift kick from a brown boot sent the fox tumbling backwards.

“Cut it out! You can’t blame a pokemon for your own failures as a trainer, that’s pathetic.” Sickened to his core by the boy’s cruelty, Acacia couldn’t refrain from lashing out in opposition. Windie felt the same, and the two activated its intimidation ability in an attempt to get Jett to back down without a fight.

“What, is that supposed to scare me? Don’t think you’re hot shit just because your Blaine’s little protege. I heard you were knocked unconscious from bonding with your starter and had to go to the hospital. At first I gave you the benefit of the doubt and figured the old man pulled some strings and got you a really strong Pokémon like an Aerodactyl or something, but boy was I wrong. I mean a Growlithe, a freaking Growlithe knocked you out. That’s pathetic! Don’t get all high and mighty when you won’t last a week in the Bronze league.”

The harsh words rattled Acacia. He would’ve loved to retort by insulting Jett more for failing the Bronze League, but the truth was most trainers didn’t make it their first time around. Jett had already accomplished more than he was ever guaranteed to, and he didn’t have to spend months conditioning just to maintain a single bond. The only thing he could do was take his lumps and try to move on.

“Whatever.” He mumbled through gritted teeth, trembling with rage over being forced to face his own shortcomings. “Just give me the Zorua, it’s not like you’re gonna use it anyways.”

“Ha! I guess it’s fitting, a loser and a loser. I’m not gonna give it to you for free though, it’s still a pokeball.”

“I’ll pay you back for the ball.”

“And I want your pizza.”

“What? No.”

“Then no deal.”

“Fine, you can have the pizza.” It was demeaning but Acacia knew he was getting let off easy. Zorua’s, no matter how weak, were still pretty rare and could probably fetch a decent price, or at least more than a disgusting pizza.

Acacia pulled out his phone and transferred the $200. Then, resisting the urge to throw a punch and take the pokeball by force, he handed over the box.

“Good boy.” Jett gave a toothy grin to further mock the boy. “He’s your problem now. See you losers in the Bronze League.” On that note, the boy tossed Acacia the cherish ball and retreated into his home, slamming the door in the process.

The bond triggered right as Acacia caught the shiny red sphere, and instantly he felt the energy drain from him. It wasn’t like with Windie where he felt his energy drain away from him to sustain a more powerful vessel, rather the energy Zorua added seemed to have a negative effect. Every bad memory or depressive and anxious tendency Acacia had gotten rid of creeped back into his head as he bonded with the heartbroken fox that had just been discarded as trash. Windie had been the fire of motivation, allowing him to become who he wanted to be, but this Zorua was a brutal reminder of who he really was.

Still, despite the mental struggles taking over, Acacia knew that he needed to be there for his new pokemon. He crouched next to the Zorua and tried his best to put on a genuine smile, though the newly shared pain of being abandoned weighed heavily on him.

“Hey, that guy’s an idiot. We’ll prove him wrong soon enough, trust me.” It seemed the Zorua understood the sentiment. After joining the bond it seemed to detect the strong feelings between the trainer and the Growlithe, giving the dark type hope that it could one day share the same type of connection but also filling it with jealousy of the puppy. For just a second, the jealousy got the better of Zorua and it activated its ability, turning into a replica of Windie for just a moment before the illusion faded away as a result of Acacia not having much energy to spare.

“See!? That was a pretty cool trick, like those kitsune from the folktales. We’re gonna get get along just fine, Kit.” On that note Acacia scooped up his newly nicknamed pokemon and trudged backwards to the house, ready to crash for the night.

The morning sun shone in the sky in Sunyshore city, Starevias flocks loudly called the beginning of the day. Some people that manage to crawl from their beds could hear as the bell from the bicycle of a person that was giving out newspaper rang as they passed the hauses. Cold breeze would get through opened by the people windows as they wanted to get some fresh air.

A small, white pokemon was walking through the hall with an adorable high sound "Cub choo choo choo! Cub choo choo choo!" It sounded as if the young child was playing around at the hause and tried to imitate Train sounds, but it was a pokemon, white little bear, a cubchoo named Glacier if we want to be precise. He had his favourite green scarf that he received from Shiro and never took it off, even when he was bathing and his happy smile and a little running nose just added more adorability to this sweet innocent pokemon.

It faced the biggest Obstacle that stood on its way to his trainer, hard wooden stairs to the second floor. Cubchoo took deep breath and start crawling up. He had a very special tactic for it! He took his little paws up as much as he could, he grabbed upper part of the stair he tried to get on, then in all his might tried to get up and then he repeated it 38 times. There were several close calls, like when scarf almost entagled his leg and he could fall, but it wasn't the first time for brave Glacier who without fear reached the second floor then was on his way to wake up his beloved trainer!

Shiro had a nice dream, he was running through the beautiful plains filled with flowers and suddenly rain started to fall at his face and thunder sounded with a loud "Cubchooooo".
It wasn't a dream... Well, not fully, as Glacier was sitting on his trainer chest, making happy sounds with his running nose being right above Shiro face. Boy sighed and then looked at the pokemon for a few minutes.
"I can't say if its the best or the worst way to wake up..."
"Cuuuuuuuup!" Glacier agreed with him.

"I see you were woken up in the way number 3" Karma chuckled when he saw Shiro. Karma's Salamance wouldn't care less, as he slept in a corner and Axew was helping Karma preparing the table for the breakfast. Karma is one of quite underrated and powerful trainers, in Shiro eyes, he easily could go toe to toe with Regions champions. However, he didn't really like to hold any responsibility or title, fact that he was a President of Dragonheart Corporation was enough of a trouble for him. Although he and Shiro weren't the Family, Karma took care of the boy due to certain circunstances.
"Your trainer card is waiting for you at the table in a living room, Congratulations!.." Karma turned around and placed toasts in front of Shiro, who holded Glacier in his hands and little bear already reached with his paws to first toast and ate it greedly.
"..You are an official trainer now... You will find reasons behind what happend to pokemons.. I know you will" said Karma cheerfully to the boy.
"Thank you" said really grateful Shiro.. Cuz he was grateful... For everything. He was grateful for all trainings he got from Karma, all that care this young adult gave to him and his pokemon.
"Oh, also..." Karma started again ".. You send them a message telling that you want your cubchoo as your starter?" he asked.
"Yes, I did!" Shiro said, almost stopped himself from saying 'Yes mom' as it went through his mind to be more embarassing for him than Dragonheart.

After breakfast Shiro turned on his phone and his little companion looked at the screen with him. "Look Cubchoo! On this site we can vote for the region we want to go to, isn't that interesting? What do you think? Would you want to go with me to your homeregion? I bet it will be fun!" said Shiro and Cubchoo happy noises were more than enough for an answer.
"Allllright! Unova it is then!"

After Breakfast, he looked at his trainer, it was...
"..Great, isn't it?" said Karma as he cutted off what narrator wanted to just say about Shiro's trainer card!
"Yes, it is" said Shiro, ignoring narrator feelings and fourth wall breaking.
"Well, I think you should start to pack ypur thing and buy most important stuff, don't worry, you won't be alone. Others will have your back and you will have theirs, have fun and..." Karma stopped, his voice sounded down and Shiro with Glacier knew why.. Both of them approached Karma and hughed him tightly.
"Thank you... So much. For being here for me and Cubchoo... For being with us for all those 10 years. We will miss you too!" He said with a smile, although a bit tearing up too.
"Idiot..." said Karma and tear fell from his cheek as he hugged them back "Who the hell gonna miss you two? Go out there and do what you always do.. Your very best!"
"We definitly will!" answered Shiro.
"CUB CHOO CHOO!"

As he cradled Floru in his arms, Robert noticed that a sense of exhaustion and fatigue had began to settle in. His arms relaxed around his Bulbasaur, almost as if the Grass type could slip out of his grasp at a moments notice, and he began to slouch in his chair. To distract from his tiredness, the new trainer began to read more on the forum that he had posted. One of the replies was from a guy named Ron that voted Johto and was looking for teammates. Additionally, he also decided to let the people know that he was single, causing Rob to crack a weak grin. On a whim, Robert decided to type out a response to his confident peer.

Y'know, I can respect your willingness to just put yourself out there. Good luck with your love life.
@Hecotoro

After posting that little reply, Rob decided to scroll down further in the forum to see if there was anything that he could get a chuckle out of. Unfortunately, all that was waiting for the adolescent was some asshole trying to belittle him for saying that he wanted to go to Sinnoh. As he felt irritation bubble over, he noticed that Floru perked up to see why his partner was getting riled up. Like a parent to his child, Robert covered Floru's eyes and set him down on the ground to explore his trainer's room.

"I'm sorry little buddy, I just don't want you seeing that sort of stuff. I'll explain when you're older but for now, I just need you to trust me on this. You can do that for me, right?" Robert spoke to the young Seed Pokémon with the same soft, approachable tone that he had been using ever since Floru hatched from his egg. To the young breeder's relief, the little plant Pokémon gave a slow, small nod of understanding. Once Robert finished explaining, he proceeded to put the jerk in his place.

Alright, since you want to be a fucking baby, I should let you know that this forum isn't suited for children. Maybe you're just angry because you haven't gotten your nap yet. With that in mind, I suggest you get off the computer, grab your bottle and pacifier, and treat yourself to some much needed sleep.
@Retro Master

After typing out his reply, Robert clicked the random's profile and blocked him, preventing him from sending any messages to him and reporting him to the thread moderators for juvenile rudeness. Ironically, Robert found himself closing his laptop after realizing that he could use some relaxation himself. It didn't take long for Robert to spread himself out on the bed and stare at the wall for a bit, eventually succumbing to his exhaustion and falling asleep. To his pleasant surprise, the bonded trainer felt Floru get tired as well, and the two were able to drift off to sleep together, as Trainer and Pokémon.

"Alola mom, dad I am home!"
Ally announced her arrival with typical Alola pride as she walked inside her home, Pokeball on her belt and other items in her bag as she entered her home, naturally her tone carried an almost sheepish energy to her. While some nerves for what was to come tonight, and down the line as she entered the Bronze League proper had remained strong still the energy and excitement she had for becoming a Pokemon Trainer had made that feeling almost a thrill rather than a burden.

"Hello hunny!" The voice of her mother called out, as it seemed she had been in the middle of preparing what Ally guessed was her contributions to the ceremony meal for the annual event, and her father would've likely addressed her but he seemed to be on the phone as he seemed to be setting up what she presumed was some car pool to get to said ceremony. Course, this was expected as pretty much all of Ally's life her parents had been active members of the community as well as the local Kahuna & Trial Captains. They could not help but try to help however they could and given that this year it had been Ally's turn to set out on her own adventure they seemed to have an extra engine in that motor that was their bodies.

Course, Allly would've preferred if her parents had not drove themselves insane for her sake, but that had been a lost cause.

"Mom, dad I got my partner Pokemon!" Ally announced, as she seemed to hold said Pokeball that had her partner Pichu to be with pride, and this seemed to cut her father's call early as her mother decided to set her pot aside as both had quickly moved by Ally in the living room as they scanned the Pokeball. Ally seemed to take note of their, overly curious expressions, as if the Pokeball in her hand had been an Ultra Beast instead which caused her to let out a sweat drop.

"I-it's a Pichu, I haven't thought of what I will name her, or him yet but..." Ally had began to explain, though before she had the chance to finish her sentence she found herself bombarded by frantic questions.

"H-have you opened it yet!?"

"Did you feel any surge when you touched the Pokeball?"

"Do you feel anything off about you?"

"Perhaps a headache, maybe an upset stomach?"
"M-mom, dad I-I am fine!" Ally had to call out, as she raised her voice which seemed to snap her parents out of their confused questionnaire as both seemed to be a bit embarrassed at having practically interrogated their daughter as both offered duel apologies as Ally sighed in slight relief before she glanced at her Pokeball and worked to answer what seemed to be the chief question.

"N-no, I haven't felt anything yet. But I suppose it is just me being cautious, I don't know..." Ally confessed, and this seemed to cause her parents a bit of relief. When it came to this Synchronization Bond, there was always risk of a premature connection formed before the ceremony had began but thankfully it seemed their daughter had avoided this.

"Well, I am sure you'll get a feel tonight. So go get ready..." Her father advised, and Ally seemed to nod as she had a lot to think about what was to come, and quickly had made her way upstairs...all the while her eyes and hands had not left her Pokeball.

“Gee, sir! Thanks en awful lawt for the ride, mister! Carn diggity, it sure is cold’n up ‘ere! How do you-“ Mari continued to holler in the poor man’s ear as her hands held him tightly to herself, offering the cursed mailman no escape. Her hair whipped into her face in an excited frenzy, and her heart beat in a merry staccato to the rhythm of the wind in her ears. The Staraptor practically radiated with sympathy and pity, but it did nothing to allude the man’s misery. “What?! I can’t hear you over the wind!” He yelled back, wishing she would shut up and keep the talking to when their feet were on terra firma, but Mari seemed to take it as a challenge and bellowed at the top of her lungs. “I SAID, THANKS EN AWFUL LAWT FOR THE RIDE, MISTER! IT SURE IS COLD-“

The man nearly wept. Staraptor flapped his wings hard and tried to go faster.

“Chee, whiz! It were’n colder ‘en a witch’s tit in a brass bra, yessir! Y’all League mailmen tougher thawn we thought, ye!” Mari grinned, rubbing her arms to warm up quickly under her thick winter coat. She still spoke rather loudly, probably struggling to adjust from the wind still ringing in her ears. “Yeah, yeah, no problem. So, um, let’s see, the League centre…” The man hurried to slide off the Staraptor, who even obligingly bent to let him escape the girl faster, but she held him in a vicegrip. The man had seen much in his years of experience and travel, but this girl holding him from the back scared him. “Aye, we here? Swan, that was a hellava ride! Do ya do this awften?” Her accent was slipping further and further in her excitement, and he struggled to comprehend her words while his hands struggled to loosen the lithe little girl’s arms around his waist. Why was she so strong?! Why won’t she let go?! Staraptor crowed and puffed up, eliciting a giggle from the elated girl.

“Aye, what’m I sayin’, yer a mailmain, o’course you do this awften! Hehe, Pappy always used to say, ‘a dense one, she is. If she had an idea, it would die of loneliness’ an’ then he’d laugh. I ken gots no clue what he was on about, do ye know wot he meant?” Mari rattled on and on, happily chattering and seemingly oblivious to the mailman’s vain tries to free himself from his self-inflicted prison. Why, oh why had he offered this accursed child a ride to the nearest hub?

“Ayn an’ this place sure’s huge, mister! What’s it called? We’n never really gon’ any further’n the village at the foot’n o’ th’mounten, eh,” She seemed to slow down from her giddy rush of flying through the sky, taking a minute to survey her surroundings and finally letting the cold rush of the atmospheric journey get to her, clacking her teeth together in a low but audible chatter. “Yeah, yeah, it’s a great little town, could you let me go, please?” The man squeezed out in desperation, gripping on to Staraptor’s feathers a tad too tightly for the bird’s liking. “Aye, ooh, sorry sir, my hands’n jus kinda froze, aye!” She exclaimed, throwing her arms open and letting the man slither unceremoniously to the cobblestoned road. Staraptor ruffled itself once again and glanced disdainfully at its rider and the girl who continued to sit comfortably on him. The pack she was carrying was getting real heavy too.

“Er, yeah, no problem. Well, you sit there and be safe for a bit, alright? Yeah, yeah, get comfortable, uh, get yourself a little, well, sorted, out,” He paused hesitantly, vaguely gesturing to the girl’s dishevelled hair and clothes, and hurried resumed when Mari touched a hand to her head inquisitively, “Yeah, and um, I’ll, just go inside and have a word real quick. The ladies inside will get you sorted out,” And with an apologetic glance and a psychic whisper to his partner pokemon, he scurried off in record speeds to the League Centre, feeling the cold glare of his Staraptor burrowing into his skull.

“Git sorted oot? What’n he say? Wot’s wrong wit’ how I look?” Mari spoke aloud to nobody in particular, eyes straying into the sky as her hands busily combed through her crazed hair, deftly untangling any knots and burrs in the thick locks, but doing little in the way of actually making her any more presentable. She pulled her shoulders in close, rubbing her face against the warm inner layer of her coat, which was beginning to wear rather heavily on her now that they had landed. She hadn’t paid too much attention to which way they were going, in her newfound elation at flying through the air, but wherever they were was significantly warmer than what she was accustomed to. She unzipped the top half of her coat and much to her steed’s disappointment, continued to sit there, idly waving her feet and watching the city go by.

This was definitely a lot of firsts for Mari. Her first day alone, her first day away from her clan, her first ride on a flying pokemon, her first visit to a city, and gee, look at those skyscrapers. To Mari, they seemed to stretch on forever, high into the sky as though challenging nature to outdo it, to outgrow and overtake if it can. She pursed her lips, squinting up against the sun to marvel at the towering architectural marvels. So noticeable, so densely packed… life was very different in an urban setting, and she would have much to learn. So far it was certainly living up to every story she had heard of the world outside her mountain.

It wasn’t all good, of course. Within minutes, Mari was wrinkling her nose at this strange… thick smell. What was that? It smelled rancid, it smelt foul. It smelt like something had been left to burn for three days, the suffocating pungent scent of smoke that hung heavy in the air. And it was all-pervading, it was everywhere. A far cry from the crisp clean air of the craggy heights she grew up in, and not a change that was very welcome. She grumbled, burying her chin and mouth deep in her coat’s pocket, watching the little dust particles drift by, and squinted around with far more scepticism this time. Dust, fleeting dust like little snowflakes.

People dressed differently, in short, vibrant clothes, and Mari found herself ogling wonderingly at a lady dressed particularly skimpily. Certainly, the weather allowed it, but… and none of the passerby’s stopped other than to give the Staraptor a fleeting glance. There weren’t many pokemon she could sense around herself, and even fewer outclassed or matched the beast that she rode upon. That cheered Mari up a bit, trying to ignore the pangs of loneliness as her hands sunk into the Staraptor’s back, feeling the soft downy feathers instead of rough, cold steel. She forced a smile on and quickly slid off, taking a moment to train her gaze on the floor before looking around again.

Pappy and Jesse would have loved this city… Mari bit her lip, wistfully falling into silence. Pappy spoke of what little he knew of the outside world, and Jesse was always the more experimentative of the lot with her appearance, her demeanour, the way she presented herself to the others, her small little world. She would have… enjoyed it. Fit right in, perhaps. Felt happy that there were others like her. Found like-minded friends… perhaps have had more fun with them. Perhaps it was best she didn’t come after all…

“Alright, looks like you’re set!” Mari snapped out of it, staring at the man wide-eyed. What had she just been thinking? “Um, the ladies inside say they’ll get you ready up to meet your partner pokemon. Uh, I bet they’ll show you how to use the Rotom phone too,” The man hadn’t made eye contact yet, instead he was busily setting up the rider saddle on his Staraptor, who seemed relieved to finally move on from this terrible day. Mari stood there for just a little too long, stock still; the man finally mustered enough courage from his curiosity to look up at the wide-eyed girl. “Can I help y- er, er. I mean, what’s wrong?” Not making that mistake again!

“N- nothin’, nothin’. Just thinkin’ of home,” Home. Mari managed a watery smile, blinking innocently at the man, who didn’t seem convinced but neither did he seem keen on pursuing the matter. “Well, alright then. Be safe, and good luck on your journeys,” He gave a little tip of his hat, waved and mounted the Staraptor. Mari hurried up alongside to give the bird a few goodbye pets. “Aye, an’ thank yew mister! I ain’t forget this! You been real good an’ real nice to me today! You done me a real good turn, sir.” She solemnly said, eagerly looking up at the man. He was duly baffled for a second before bursting into laughter. “Yeah, no problem, kid. My pleasure. Now go on, git,” He waved kindly at the girl and watched her step away from the Staraptor. “Despite everything, she’s a good kid,” He weakly offered to the Staraptor, who silently ruffled himself in response and with a few powerful flaps, was off in the air.

Mari watched them disappear into a speck in the distance before suddenly feeling very alone. The reality of being alone in a metropolitan city for the first time sunk in, and she shrunk in on herself, feeling very small and lost. She missed Pappy, and Maple, and she even missed Hunter, just a little bit. And… she wished they were here. She really did. Dern’ tootin’ if they have more fun in the city than they do with her. That’s what it’s there for, ain’t it?! Mari angrily ground a pebble under her heel, silently fuming by the side of the road.

“Um, excuse me,” A light, feminine voice spoke up, snapping Mari’s attention and head upwards at the source. The condescending tone didn’t sink in until she saw the lady who had spoken sneer at her, eyeing her up and down before resuming, “you’re blocking the way, honey. Why don’t you find something to do instead of dilly-dallying around?” And just like that, she was gone. Mari blinked after her, mouth ajar in confusion and hesitant anger. Were all city folk like this? She consciously passed her fingers over her many different accessories, made from shells and crystals; things that practically screamed she was not a native to the city. The most noticeable one was a jadeite clip she wore to keep her hair out of her eyes; an inexpensive but attractive material that was mostly localised around the mountains. The tanned girl hesitated, before unclipping and pocketing the adornment, taking care to slowly and carefully fold her clothes over her other characteristic signs. Her necklace, her earrings, her tattoos, and her skin, as much of it as she could.

The heat began building quick under her completely covered body, and the relentless day spurred her into action. There was so much she wanted to do, so much she wanted to see and explore. The prospect of a new life was dampened by the fact that she’d have to maneuver through it alone…. Or perhaps she didn’t. Perhaps she could find a partner first to find her way with.

---

‘Ayn, pull yerself together, bird!’ Mari shook herself up, pacing up and down a small corner, hands clenching and unclenching as she mustered the courage to take the step forward. Who knew that given a new territory, her confidence would slip off like a false mask, a bravado. She grit her teeth, pausing to take a breath; she barely felt the weight of her pack, but the crushing scenario settled on her being, and she was only moderately certain that the weight on her chest might actually have been the rancid city air.

Get it together! It ain’t about whether I c’n make it back or nawt! Issabout the journey ahead! C’mon Mari, you were so excited for this! Her brow furrowed, and she slipped off one gloves to lightly run her fingers up the seam of the other glove. Well-sewed together, tightly bound and sturdy; the village had spared no effort in giving her the best of their resources. Everybody was rooting for her, and suddenly what drove her to start didn’t seem so far away after all. And while none would blame her if she were to chicken out and return, she had to atleast give it a real good try.

But… she never got to look back and see her home for the last time.

It ain’t matter now, she told herself, swallowing hard and heading for the nearby door – glass, shiny, where was its handle? Was she to push? – it ain’t matter now… it’s okay to fall. It’s okay to stumble. Jus’ gotta keep running. And the door smoothly slid open.

The blinding bright lights, the cold clinical smell so unlike anything she was used to. It smelt.. clean. Like a hospital. Well maintained. Business like. Official. The air hung heavy with authority, and Mari’s throat went dry. This was… this was like coming down the mountain to the town, but way worse. No rough talk here, no tempers and certainly no kinds of any ornery behaviour ‘round here. She curled her fingers into little fists to keep them from shaking, forcing one foot in front of the other. Her eyes darted about, taking in the room; it was a wide lobby, seemingly stretching on forever, with high walls and a clean, orderly appearance. People milled about, in significantly lesser numbers than the street, and everyone seemed to be busy doing something or the other, leaving the country girl to selfconsciously make her way down to the front desk. She wasn’t entirely certain who to approach first, considering most were either absorbed in staring at some kind of glowing screen – a kompewter? Did they really have one in here? She hoped she could see one herself – or seemingly talking to themselves.

Perhaps in time she too would learn to love the city as they did. Mari hesitated, wondering once more where the thought had arisen from. The heavy polluted air, the flashing lights and noisy atmosphere, the busy roads and the silent uneasy tolerance every person had of each other when in the same living quarters. Did people love the city? Did the heartbeat of it thrum under their fingertips too? Were they glad of where they were, were they grateful of what they got? They must have been, nobody seemed to be in a big hurry to leave. Yes, the cities were as told – a glass prison to keep the people inside. Selfishly bound away in their own lives, caring not for the others, whether it be a close neighbour or a remote little village that most hadn’t heard of. People here looked the same and walked the same, but the language they spoke was not as one. Were love and hate the same word?

“Yes, dear? Can I help you?” Mari was interrupted yet again by the brisk pace of life in a city. Her dark eyes flashed upwards to meet the gentle gaze of an older woman behind a desk, one who she had unconsciously drifted close to. And, well, naturally… Mari panicked.

“Ooh, er, Muk, em, ya’see, maam, eh, I-“ She stuttered out, sweating profusely, not from the warmth of the clothes. She fixated her eyes on the floor – carpet? – and ceased her babbling, face burning in embarrassment. There was a long, unbearable silence, and Mari felt herself trembling head to toe. How embarrassing, she winced, as her eyes squeezed shut, holding back tears of shame. Keep runnin’, she says to herself, but all she was was a flower that bloomed too early, doomed to wither and die. A branch that reached out for the sun, reaching out with all its strength even as it runs dry. Petals, dry flower petals that crumble under fingertips. Keep runnin’, she says, for that is all she knew how to do.

“Oh! You must be Maribelle, yes?” The kind voice piped up again, now distinctly softer and more knowledgeable, and the Mari in question hazarded a meek glance up, to be met with a glowing smile and a knowing nod. She gulped hard, nodding for words wouldn’t escape her. “Ah, yes yes, the mail official told me about you. Come, dear. He did mention you might need some help. Right from the farthest areas of the region, aren’t we?” Before she knew what was happening, the lady had vacated her position and swept the quivering girl away to an area swathe with soft velveteen couches and the scent of flowers. “Yes, dear, starting out on the Bronze League too, are we? My, that’s mighty fine of you! Have you voted for the region yet? I hear it’s all the rage among young children like you,” She chuckled fondly, somehow managing to seat the girl, hand her a cup of warm coffee and pull out a sheaf of papers before Mari could even comprehend what was happening or where the conversation was going.

“Yes, the man didn’t say much, but he did seem quite insistent that you would have questions. So, honey, what can I help you with?” Mari stared at the lady in wonder, mouth opening and closing in silent surprise, mind boggled and words jumbled. Her mind raced to catch up with what happened; life was moving a little too fast for her liking. “I- eh- aye I ken’ knae what to do, maam,” She blurted out. Silence pervaded the air again, and Mari violently got to her feet, only making it halfway there before her knees collided painfully against the table, pushing the heavy wooden furniture back noisily and attracting more than a few curious stares.

“Oh, oh, there now,” The lady rose as well, steadying Mari’s hand with the coffee in it; Mari hissed in pain as the scalding liquid splashed onto her hand, and fearful of dropping some on the woman as well, jerked her hand away, losing her balance and sullenly falling back onto the encompassingly soft couch. “Now, now, child. Slow down and tell me all,” The lady soothed, resting a gentle hand on Mari’s thigh. The girl looked helplessly at the lady, still smiling, still mukin’ smiling, and she wanted to cry.

And she began to tell her all. Voices low, gazes downcast, Mari poured her heart out to this lady who she had meant but minutes ago, about how excited she was to see the big city, how scared she felt now that she was here, how lonely and lost she was out of her element, how tied up with societal niceties and technology, how she couldn’t find the courage to talk to anyone anymore. How much she missed her family back home, ones she remembered cloaked in snow as this city was cloaked in dust. She missed them. She missed them, she missed them, she missed them. It had been less than a day but she missed the quips, the conversations, the community she knew she would be leaving behind for the better part of a year when she knew nothing of what she was leaving them for. And simply saying she missed them made her miss them more. And how in all this grief she buried her excitement to meet her first pokemon and all that she had prepared to tango with the beauracracy and paperwork.

The woman listened quietly, nodding or hmm’ing as the conversation required, and edging in a question or two, but for the most part – she listened. Leaving behind family could be hard, and if what the girl said was true, then this wasn’t the first time she had to leave her familia behind. If this was true, then the girl didn’t have a family in the traditional sense.

“Aye, ‘n, ‘n, ‘n I’m so sad, ‘n I feel so helpless, like we ken do ‘nymore’n jus’ runnin’, you know,” Mari sniffled, wiping her nose into her sleeve. “We always rannin’. We ran that day too, an’ they ain’t been real nice to Jacket since, an’ I don’ wanna run anymooooore- Mari’s voice quivered and broke off, as the girl took a deep shuddering breath. The woman affectionately patted her knee, smiling supportively when Mari sneaked shy glances at her, but not saying much else.

“It’ll be alright, dearie. I can’t imagine what you’ve been through, dear me, but all I can assure you is perhaps you’ll find what you’re looking for in this journey. You’ve been very brave to come this far, and you have had and will have friends to help you along. Oh yes,” She nodded as Mari glanced up again curiously at the mention of friends, “You’ll meet plenty of people along the way, and perhaps you’ll be left a little richer for the experience? It’s a whole world out there, honey, and it can be daunting, but all you need to remember is, you have today.” Mari hummed uncertainly, not any more consoled than before, but certainly calmer having talked it all out with a kind face and a listening ear. “Now, then, if you’re still sure you want to do this, shall we get on with it?” The lady asked with a smile, and if just a little by little, Mari began feeling better.

---

“Right, then, and this is how you get back to the Home Screen,” The lady, Clara, finished, glancing back at Mari to see if she understood. The child was deep in concentration, looking as though she was going over the controls in her head. “Aye, oolright, I thin’ I got’em. So that’s foor calls, that’s foor messages, er, textin’? Whatchu call ‘em?” Receiving positive feedback, she continued, “An’ that’s fer checkin’ news, aye, understood. I think. Might take’n a while, maam,” She grinned sheepishly, taking the Rotom Phone from Clara far more confidently now. She still couldn’t read too well, but thankfully the device came equipped with large visual icons to symbolize each function, and with a little help from Clara, she was able to customize the icons to symbols she was familiar with.

“Aye, of course, good goin’, Mari, you picked it up quick!” Clara beamed, and Mari reflected the appreciation with her own bright smile. She pocketed the blue coloured gadget and expectantly eyed the papers lying untouched before them. “Alright, ready to move on? I’ll read out everything and all you have to do is sign at the end. Then you can go meet your pokemon,” The two sat in silence for a bit, and the girl nodded, breathing out slowly and pulling her bag closer to herself.

Clara cleared her throat and began:

“United Pokemon League Announcement

Congratulations on your first step into the world of Pokemon Trainers! Almost every child dreams at one point to begin their own journey with pokemon, but these journeys can be perilous and rife with danger. The Bronze League serves to ensure that anyone with the ambition to snatch fame from the jaws of danger actually has the competency to satisfy those ambitions. This announcement serves to introduce you to the Bronze League and a few of its conditions:

1. Trainers must sign a warranty that outlines the dangerous nature of the Bronze League; although we, the UPL, have done our best to regulate these dangers, you could end up dead at any time; this warrantee serves to inform the trainer of these risk and obtain their knowing consent to this life-threatening competition. It also voids the UPL of responsibility if you, the Trainer, die for any reason other than the UPL's negligence.”

“Hah! Them bastards! Is that whay they be tellin’ ‘emselves?!” Mari barked out suddenly, voice harsh and coarse, and hand tightened viciously into a tight fist around the fabric of her bag. Clara blinked, staring at the girl in confusion. “Responsibility, them says! Why, them’s lower ‘n a snake’s belly in a wagon rut! As useful as tits on a bull, aye say! No’were ta be seen when theyms needed! Convenentiolly forget when needed, ey? Nawt a peep to be heard when… The egg-suckin’ varmints….” She growled, lapsing into a furious silence. Clara opened her mouth as though to say something, met Mari’s smouldering gaze and shut it again, shrugging and resuming the rest of the contract.

2. The Bronze League can be hosted in any region in the world and the UPL will provide all trainers with the necessary travelling arrangements to make it to the host region. The host region will be decided through the use of a poll, a link to which can be found below. Vote results will be hidden, but feel free to express your ideas in the accompanying thread.

3. The UPL will need to stay in close contact with the trainers and will regularly send you pertinent information. As such, the UPL will provide free upgrades to any registered trainer's Poke-Gadget: Poketch, Pokegear, X-transceiver etc. If the trainer does not possess one, the UPL will provide one. The UPL will be updated your gear to a special Rotom or Porygon Variant responsible for moderating and regulating the trainers. The Pokemon in these phones are under the purview of the UPL's operators and will be responsible for being the UPL's liaison with trainers in the field.

4. Functionalities of Rotom/Porygon enhanced Pokemon-Gadgets:

1. Normal Smart-phone functions

2. Pokédex

3. Apps

4. Tracks trainer's location at all times (this is mandatory and cannot be turned off.)

5. Emergency Alert System — if for any reason the Poke-Gadget's battery dies or is removed, or the trainer's GPS malfunctions, an emergency alert will immediately be sent to the nearest Ranger or Police Station with the trainer's last recorded location.

6. Poke Gadget acts as an online Banking assistant. Because Trainer-Related Transactions must be done using an authorized license (which is your Trainer Card) an associated bank account has been generated for each trainer which contains their starter funds, $5,000. Transactions must be done by first scanning their trainer card and then scanning the Poke-Gadget which is encoded and encrypted.

5. Poke-Gadgets will be reclaimed by the League at the end of the Bronze League. Trainers will be required to purchase their own personal devices once they reach Silver. It's recommended that every trainer catch either a Porygon or a Rotom once they reach Silver-Rank as some future transactions will require a registered Rotom or Porygon Device.

6. Bronze-Rank accounts are locked from transactions with higher ranked accounts, this is to ensure they complete the Bronze League on only their own merit or the merit of their peers.

7. Restrictions are lifted upon ascension to Silver Rank.

8. Mobile PCs can be purchased once the trainer reaches Silver-Rank

9. The Pokemon HOME application can be used to manage a trainer's Pokemon once it has been installed on their Rotom or Porygon Device and connected to their personal PC. Pokemon Related transactions can be done through these devices, including, but not limited to: placing Pokemon in PC, changing party pokemon, etc.

10. Pokemon will be be digitized/transformed into streams of energy and transferred to another location wirelessly, much like during a trade.

11. Pokemon in PC are stored in a dormant state; this minimizes their energy consumption. Trainers can only sustain 6 active Pokemon at a time without vast resources or stores of Pokemon food.

12. At Silver Rank Trainers can purchase designated zones which their Pokemon can reside and feed of the berries/herbs planted there (Oran Berries, Sitrus Berries, and Energy Herbs). These will be enough to sustain those Pokemon under the condition that they're not using moves regularly. This farm can only sustain 30 Pokemon excluding the Trainer's active 6. This will allow a trainer to comfortable own up to 36 Pokemon.

13. At Gold-Rank Trainers can purchase a larger territory, usually in an uninhabited area: an island, mountain, etc. with which they can manage to allow as many pokemon as they own to roam. No one has ever managed to catch enough pokemon to eat an island barren, the League suggests you don't try to be the first.

“And that’s the end of it,” Clara concluded, slightly out of breath from saying it all in one go. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath and Mari took the opportunity to dig her parcel out of her bagpack. “$5,000? Aye, this dosh? Ken- what it says about a- a benk account? What ken I do fer tha’?” Clara nodded, keeping a hand on her chest to signify she wasn’t done yet, before resuming, “Ah, we can deposit it for you, and henceforth all transactions must be digital. Er…” She paused, meeting Mari’s confused gaze; the lady was forced to rethink on the go, “Ah, everything… you buy… you can’t spend physical money anymore. So this paper money,” She pointed at the notes in Mari’s hand, “Wouldn’t be spent. It will happen through this,” She then pulled out her own Rotom phone and waggled it slightly, watching Mari’s gaze swap between the notes and the phone, trying to put two and two together. “It saves you the hassle of having to give exact amounts all the time. Instead, its done cashlessly and quickly,” Clara scrambled to explain, but the term ‘cashless’ seemed to aggravate the situation. “Cash…less? So they be givin’ it fer free? Ah mean, they didst give this foon fer free,” She asked with a tilt of her head, and Clara scrambled to correct her. “No, no, it’s not for free, they receive payment, and the phone isn’t free, it’s for your safety…””But how thems be getting’ payment if…” And the hushed conversation drifted through their quiet corner, swathe in soft velveteen couches and the smell of flowers.

---

Today, the moon shines especially bright… Breaths quickened and his eyes darted about, in desperate purchase around the room. I hate it, I hate this night. I want to breathe, I want to wake up, I hate this dream. Bump, bump, bump, went his heart deep in his chest, beating rapidly to the rhythm of his flailing appendages as he tried to slow himself down. He struggled, but it was all ocean with no floor. Help me, I’m falling, being swallowed by this lunatic night. Trapped, unable to get a grip on himself. Why was it so dark? Was this blood or tears? He couldn’t really tell. Could they hear him, his heartbeat calling out to them; within this childish madness, the one who relied on them for salvation? Feathers fell like snow, like snow that fell apart little by little. Fell apart like dry flower petals. Help me, I need your help, save me before I fall.

As Ally moved upstairs, she had worked to get her personal items packed. She needed not much for the Ceremony to come, but had already prepared some packing for the trip, though if the announcement came that the Bronze League was to take place in Alola she'd feel just a touch silly. But it had been wise to be prepared than be caught with your shoes untied as it were. So with some valuables already packed Ally had made sure she'd be ready for tonight and beyond when the Bronze League had began proper and Ally had felt pretty good about herself up to this point.

However, as Ally set her partner Pokemon on the table next to her bed, she had another matter to attend to as she activated her Pokesketch and logged into the Union's app once more. She had known based off her earlier browsing of the app that it was heavily encouraged that she form a "group" before she had began her journey through whatever region had won the vote; a safety net of other trainers in the Bronze League to help keep each other safe, in the ever wild and always dangerous Pokemon World. This of course, had Ally sigh. The fact that they lived in such an environment, that one could not travel freely as she had heard stories in generations past, had been a tough pill to swallow. Just seemed to reflect how that dark day, even when it seemed so far behind them remained an ever present presence on the day to day lives of people and Pokemon everywhere.

None the less, she logged into the chat and decided to introduce herself; as she figured she may be able to get into a group before the Ceremony and if not that she'd least get her name out there.

Hey there, my name is Allison Morrison, though I prefer to go by Ally. I am from Alola and it is wonderful to meet you all, I hope we all have a safe and fun time wherever we end up going. If anyone is interested, I am open to join up with any groups if you are in need of a member. I desire to become a Coordinator, and try my best to be a positive and fun presence in any situation. I am open to trying new things, and will do whatever I can to help contribute as I pride myself on being a hard worker. If anyone is interested, don't be shy to send me a PM~

Dolan began heading towards the Jubilife City broadcasting station. He headed inside, and the first thing he saw was a random dude in a flower shirt looking like he left alola or something. The second thing he saw was a woman holding a microphone and a man holding a camera.

"Bonsly bon!" Goju went.
"Supes cool!" Guy said.
They were talking about the pokémon league.
Guy waved at them, and the camera dude waved back!
Guy: He waved! I wonder who they are talking too?
Eventually the man being interviewed walked away.
"Scuse me, what about you? What do you think about the pokémon league?" The lady was now asking Guy.
"Huh? Cool I guess? I'm interested in fossils!" Guy said feeling rather contempt with his answer.
"Fossils, huh? Like a ruin maniac? Cool beans... Maybe in the future there will be a news report on that. What about you sir!" The woman said pointing at a man in a floral shirt. The news woman began to approach him, and the camera dude followed. He smiled at Guy before continuing.

"Ah shoot... Five seconds of fame gone... Easy come easy go..."
"Bon bon bonslyyyy" Goju went.
"Let's get going! Start our journey for real this time! The moment we leave Jubilife city, we go all out. Big diglett energy. We're gonna be the best paleontologists in all of Sinnoh!" Guy cheered.
"Bonslyyyyy!" Goju cheered.
"Let's look at the forums one more time real quick" Guy said pulled his phone out.

He read a bunch of messages. One of the forum messages from a girl named Ally. She's from that place where Craig is going! Alola! Guy remembered he needed to talk to Craig. He began to text message Craig.

Guy got back on the forums

Your from Alola?!?! Have you met a dude named Craig. he's kinda stupid looking, and not as cool as me. He got a slowpoke with him. Can't miss him. Your a coordinator just like Wallace! So cool. I'm a paleontologist! But most people just say Ruin maniac... Also you can just call me Guy. I'm in Jubilife City if your interested. Good luck getting to Sinnoh! Make sure you take the right transport... Would be awkward if you got a plane ticket to Cinnabar Kanto instead of Sinnoh by mistake...

Guy chuckled. It seemed highly unlikely she'd do something as dumb as that, but it was funny to mention it anyways. Guy wondered for a moment, who'd be dumb enough to purchase a plane ticket to Cinnabar Island in Kanto and expect to arrive in Sinnoh? Guy walked out of the broadcasting station. He decided he'd wait outside the pokécenter, and sit on the bench.

~Several months prior~

“Mega Punch!”

“Delay Iron Defense, then blast him away!”

A roar echoed across the arena as a fearsome Dragonite descended down from the clear sky from seemingly nowhere, its right fist cocked back and glowing with an intense white light. The meteoric decent of the Dragonite caused the white energy of the Mega Punch to leave a long trail of light behind it.

The Kommo-o on the ground below Dragonite merely glanced up at the descending dragon before calmly positioning itself, bracing and taking a defensive position. It took in a deep breath and closed its eyes calm and calculating. It body began to shimmer like metal.

BANG!

An explosion in air echoed across the area as the Dragonite’s decent speed broke the sound barrier. The Dragonite was nothing more than a streaking line of white light.

BOOM!

The impact of the Dragonite into Kommo-o appeared to happen in slow motion at the moment of impact as all of Dragonite’s force and momentum was suddenly impacted into Kommo-o with its Mega Punch. The ground around the Kommo-o exploded as it cratered in from the impact, the powerful shockwave of wind visibly radiated out from the impact site causing the other spectators to shield themselves. The Kommo-o was glowing a brilliant white, it armor plating shimmering and glowing, a perfectly timed Iron Defense just before the moment of impact. There was obvious damage, but nothing that would bother the Scaly Pokémon.

Following the trainer’s instructions, the Kommo-o broke out of its defensive stance with an extremely powerful roar, a roar that continued and only got more intense, the Dragonite was taken aback by the Kommo-o’s rapid recovery and its sudden outburst. Kommo-o faced the Dragonite while roaring until a huge blast of white energy erupted from its roar, a sound so powerful that it rivaled the impact sound of Dragonite’s Mega Punch seconds ago. The Boomburst sent the Dragonite flying, losing control of its flight, it crashed and shattered through a nearby boulder.

Ceres shuddered watching the two Pokémon battle from the arena stands. For the longest time Ceres had always watched the elders and accomplished members of the Birds of Passage battle, train, and compete against each other, in the private arenas of the Birds of Passage. Her mother or father would take her to watch them when she was younger and now she would watch the battles when she had free time after finishing her chores at home. Ceres looked to her right at the egg incubator with a furrowed brow. Her palms were sweaty from clutching them tightly as she watched the battle before her.

“Will you be like them one day…?” Ceres asked the unhatched Pokémon next to her. She had this egg for several months now, from being completely motionless, to now, just touching the egg she could feel the Pokémon moving inside, its eagerness to escape its small world into something greater, and she was to be its guide, its caretaker, and its family. Ceres still remembered the day the Elder personally delivered the egg to their house, her parents were so proud, though they had no doubts that Ceres would be chosen to take the Rite of Passage, like her mother, and grandfather before her. She placed a hand on the incubator and smiled, “I’m sure you will be the greatest of them all, we will rise above all, because we will never disappoint!” Ceres turned her attention back to the battle in front of her.

The two individuals currently battling were rather well known trainers in the Birds of Passage. The trainer of the Dragonite was a fairly adept young woman named Amelia who recently advanced into the Gold tier the previous season, an aspiring hopeful in the faith. Her opponent, however, was Father Anderson, a man who’s been comfortably competing in Platinum tier. He’s got the ability to compete for Master, but for an unknown reason he does not. Father Anderson is a highly respected member and educator of the faith.

“Shake it off Bubbles! Ice Punch!” the Amelia ordered. She seemed rather haggard, she had poured a rather large amount of energy into the Mega Punch. Opposite of her was Father Anderson stood steadfast with a wide and gentle smile, confident and resolute, if he were tired or fatigued it was well hidden.

“Stand your ground, Koh and defend yourself.” His instructions were simple, but the Kommo-o seemed to know exactly what to do and postured himself just in time to perfectly intercept Bubbles as he flew out of the dust cloud, his fist punching forward at Koh, coated in ice and glowing with brilliant Ice Energy. Koh retaliate by catching the Ice Punch with his own claw, glowing a vibrant green. The Ice was clearly hurting Koh, he grimaced as ice began to from, encasing his claw and creeping up his arm, but Koh’s grimace turned into a smirk as his hold on Bubbles tightened, he shifted his weight suddenly, throwing Bubbles off balance as Koh dragged him to the ground. The claw that caught Bubble’s Ice punch tightened and Koh’s arm flexed, breaking the formed ice as a rush of energy surged into its body from Bubbles.

“Cleaver Drain Punch to withstand hits!” Ceres smiled watching the two dragons now wrestling for control, but Bubble’s efforts were in vain, Koh was clearly in control. “Now with its advantage Koh should be closing the battle out….” As soon as the words left Ceres’s mouth Koh’s body appeared to glow white and emit steam. Before Amelia was even able to give another order Koh released a massive barrage of lightning fast, precision perfect punches, pummeling Bubbles ruthlessly into the ground as Koh executed Close Combat.

The battle was over as Koh roared triumphantly raising a claw in the air as he was declared the winner from the referee, others watching in the arena cheered and clapped. Amelia recalled Bubbles into his ball as she knelt down and held it to her forehead muttering something inaudible before standing back up. Father Anderson did a similar ritual, but instead he and Koh touched foreheads directly, and like Amelia he was muttering something inaudible to others then returned Koh to his ball. A sign, of trust friendship, and a mutual respect for the bond.

The training arena emptied as the other spectators congratulated the two battlers. It wasn’t an official match or anything important, just two people wanting a good battle for a good learning opportunity. Ceres waited as the crowds thinned before she picked up the incubator and headed down to the field where Father Anderson was wrapping up a talk with Amelia.

“Very impressive battle Sister Amelia!” Ceres smiled and bowed slightly as her approach caught the trainer’s attention, Ceres would have waved but carrying the incubator made it difficult and she’d rather not risk dropping it.

Visibly exhausted Amelia smiled and bowed in return. “Thanks, but as you saw… I’ve got a long ways to go.” She shrugged halfheartedly. “Oh hey! You got your egg! Congratulations! How is it?”

“A literal handful,” Ceres laughed sheepishly at her own lame joke, but Amelia chuckled, “It should be very close to hatching. Mum says that the egg usually hatches within a few days of your birthday. It’s amazing how the Elders know….”

“I remember the day Bubbles hatched, it was the most amazing, terrifying, and invigorating thing I ever felt… all at the same time.” Amelia leaned forward putting her hand on her knees to get a closer look at the egg. “It’s an odd looking one yea? I’ve never seen anything like it before.” It was true, Ceres had never seen an egg like the one the Elder gave her nor did her mother or father. The egg was a tri-colored gradient from being white at the bottom to teal, and then black, with some green stripe markings. It looked quite beautiful. “Well, it was good to see you again but I’ve gotta go get Bubbles healed up and get some of his favorite curry so I’ll see you around. And good luck on you egg!” Amelia gave Ceres a nod and left the arena leaving Ceres alone with Father Anderson.

Father Anderson is a towering man, his stature was almost like a wall. He has short spiky gold hair, light blue eyes with round glasses, tanned skin with much defined features and light facial hair kept neatly trimmed. He wears a long white robe that resembled cassock with gold trim and black pants and boots. He stood patiently waited for Ceres, his white gloved hand clasped in front of him, the silver symbol of the Birds of Passage gleaming in the light as it hung from his necklace, a similar trinket that Ceres wore as well albeit smaller. “As Amelia said, congratulations on receiving your egg. If I am not mistaken your birthday is tomorrow?” Father Anderson said, his voice was composed and cool.

Ceres curtsied the best she could in greeting. “Thank you Father.”

“Ceres Aeons, what have you come to see me about today?” Father Anderson smiled at the young girl. “Are you perhaps nervous about the Bond? Having second thoughts? Or are you just seeking advice again?”

“A bit of everything actually!” Ceres said, she had always been hanging around battle/training arenas learning all she could and it didn’t go unnoticed. Through the years she was taught the finer points of Pokémon battling, theories, concepts, rules, strengths and weaknesses, abilities, and methods of Pokémon training. “I’m just nervous I guess….”

“Bit of everything eh? Sounds like last minute jitters….” Anderson took in a deep breath. “You’ve chosen this path and the Elders agree with your choice and have already given you their blessings. You’ve been preparing for this for years now and now on the eve of your destiny you’re having nerves?”

Ceres nodded.

“All right,” Anderson began to walk around the veranda of the arena with Ceres alongside him, “Being nervous is just a matter of how you see or feel things. Personally, I’ve not felt nervous in a long time because near the start of my journey I realized that the feeling of being nervous is exactly the same as being excited, once I managed to get into the proper mindset my nerves were a thing of the past. Your Pokémon know when you’re nervous and their performance can be hindered by that.”

Ceres frowned, but nodded and accepted the wisdom, she understood what he was saying, but putting it into practice is easier said than done. “What was your bonding experience like with Koh?”

Anderson chuckled under his breath. “Jangmo-o and their evolutions are proud Pokémon, always looking to get stronger and never backing down from a challenge. The way Koh and I see it, we’re like battle brothers. The moment our bond was formed we knew that we would push each other to the physical, mental, and spiritual limit, and we would never back down from a challenge and take it head on, trust in each other and we can overcome anything. So far, we’ve been doing great!”

“Better than great I would say.” Ceres sighed looking at her egg. She can’t even begin to imagine the level of power and feats that Father Anderson is capable of. At that moment a massive Salamance descended down from the sky in a circle. Ceres recognized the dragon at an instant and so did Father Anderson. The Salamance was just under double the size of a regular Salamance. It wore a highly intricate and decorative riding harness that wrapped around its neck, forelegs, and tail, made of a finely crafted leather, embroidered and trimmed with gold ivy and feather patterns, signature trademarks of Ceres’s mother’s handy work.

“It would seem our talk is a bit short, dinner time I presume?” Anderson said watching the Salamance’s final decent, before it hoovered slightly above the ground and landing. A fierce, powerful, and unrelenting Pokémon to say the least, in contrast to its rider, a fairly young looking woman but in truth was much older, she looked like she could be Ceres’s older sister rather than her mother. “Speaking of which I should get going too.” Anderson nodded at the Salamance as it stared at him and Ceres, it responded with a powerful roar, sounding like a warning.

“Oh hush now Typhon there’s no need for that.” Ceres’s mother dismounted the dragon, Typhon snapped at her playfully with a low growl before turning his attention back to Ceres and Anderson. “Come now dear, its supper time, your father and brothers are already waiting! Honestly, I need to get you a watch or something one of these days….” She beckoned at Ceres.

“I’ll be right there mum, just a moment please!” Ceres called back. Typhon growled deeply, clearly annoyed that it had to wait longer before it can fly again. “Thanks for the advice Father.” Ceres bowed deeply before adjusting the incubator in her arms and headed towards her waiting mother.

“I’ll be asking you for advice soon enough… you have no idea of your lineage, your legacy, and your destiny. Let the zephyr of fate show you the way, and the gale of destiny be your teacher. Amen….” Anderson said quietly to himself as Ceres rejoined with her mother, then showered Typhon with attention which he seemed very pleased with. Ceres’s mother looked back at Anderson one last time before remounting Typhon, a knowing look and a nod which Anderson respectfully reciprocated with a smile. Would be an honor to battle her one day… but not yet….

~Several Days Later~

Ceres awoke to the morning sunlight pouring into her room. Her bed was right next to the window. She sat up and looked behind her, in one of her headboard cabinets, there was a dedicated slot where she kept the egg incubator. Her birth day had been two days ago. Her nerves had peaked that day in hopes the egg would hatch but to her disappointment it didn’t, nor the following day.

She felt a gentle nudging on her hand as Esther demanded pets since she had woken up. Esther was an elderly Espeon, their family companion their family had for as long as Ceres could remember. She frequently spends the early mornings before the sunrise sleeping on Ceres’s bed knowing that it get the best morning sun. “Good morning Esther, did you sleep well?” she gently scratched the back of her large pointy ears just the way she liked. Esther nuzzled and pressed closer and tighter to Ceres. In other parts of the house Ceres could hear her brothers running through the house, Ceres looked out the window at the forest it face, closer to the house was a massive garden, a berry farm, and a variety of pools and streams for water Pokémon, all under the care of her father. Her father’s Arcanine and Growlithe partner were outside helping him with the berry trees carrying baskets on their sides for berries, and other trimmings from the berry trees and bushes. A sniff in the air and the aroma of breakfast permeated the house, bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast, and tea.

Ceres groaned flopping back onto her pillow craning her head back to look at the incubator, “When are you gonna hatch?” Ceres rolled out of bed, changed, and proceeded through her morning routine before leaving her room and headed down stairs with her egg, leaving the door to her room just a crack so Esther could get out when she was done basking in the morning sunlight, not that she needed any help with anything in the house. When Ceres reached the bottom of the stairs Esther suddenly teleported at the bottom walking with her head held high like she owned the house. “Good morning everyone!” Ceres said putting the incubator on a nearby table before joining her mom in the kitchen brining the food to the table. Her father and brothers were already waiting.

“I think you got a bad egg there sis!” her brother said looking at the incubator.

“I just think it’s taking its time, now eat!” Ceres pushed her brother’s plate in front of him before placing down another plate for her youngest brother. “It will hatch anytime now, I’m sure of it.” Ceres sat down at her own seat and began digging into her plate.

“I wouldn’t worry too much dear. The signups for the next league isn’t due for another while.” Cere’s mother said sitting down at the table after serving her husband and herself.

“True, but I would like to get to know my partner for a bit before we journey out….” Ceres glanced at her brother who was secretly feeding, Felix dad’s Growlithe, under the table. Esther watched with judgmental eyes sitting pretty next to the egg incubator.

“Your mother’s right, it’s not big issue, some Pokémon like to take their time. It isn’t a bad thing.” Ceres’s father chuckled I remember seeing your mum with Typhon when he was still a Bagon. He was a very unruly one getting into way more trouble than it was worth, and he never backed down from a fight no matter what.” He laughed, “Thinking back on it, I was quite surprised how your mum had such patience dealing with him, or even managed to keep the bond.”

“Trust me, taking care of Typhon was much easier than looking after the lot of you!” Ceres’s mother smiled.

“Hey, I do plenty around here! I’d like to think I do a good job and carry my own weight.” Ceres laughed.

Her mother pointed at her, “You might be, but as a baby, you were way more of a handful than Typhon I can tell you that much.”

Tink!

Esther looked at the incubator, curious.

Tink! Tink! Tink!

Esther stood up and back away from the incubator poised to attack. The incubator was shaking and rocking and finally caught the attention of the rest of the family.

Ceres scrambled to her feet and ran to the incubator as the egg shook and rattled against the incubator walls, and eventually it began to crack. Ceres could hear her heart beating rapidly in her ears and her ears getting hot, her breathing quickened, and her palms became slightly sweaty. The hairs on her arms and back of her neck standing at attention as she began to get goosebumps. None of it mattered to Ceres, she was grinning as she watched her own egg hatch, she had seen plenty before but this one was special, it was hers, and a lifelong partner. She felt a hand on each of her shoulders, it was her mother and father.

“Here sweetheart.” Ceres’s mother handed her a Pokéball, an ordinary Pokéball with a single exception, there was an engraving at the top of the ball, the symbol of the Birds of Passage, the Arceus Sigil. The common adopted symbol of their faith frequently seen as charms, jewelry, or on official clothing. “Give it a home, a name, and let it commune with you.”

Ceres felt her parents back away from her as she watched the egg hatch. It’s simple, she’s seen it done countless times, and read about it countless times. As the small Pokémon inside began to really break out of the egg Ceres held the ball up to it. Sensing the Pokémon, the Pokéball opened, revealing a bright light that engulfed the Pokémon within the egg and pulling it into the ball. There was no struggle, not shakes, just acceptance. As Ceres held the Pokéball, she felt her grip on it weaken but at the same time she couldn’t let it go. Her heart fluttered but her breathing became long drawn out unsteady breaths.

Long wisps and specks of golden light began to swirl around her near the ground, there was no wind. Ceres felt her energy rushing to the ball, but at the same time she was being filled with an unfamiliar energy, darker, sorrowful, lonely, and a small tinge of hopefulness and curiosity. The powerful surge of the energy rushed into her from her hand and it forced Ceres to clench her teeth and close her eyes. Ceres could feel the sudden rush of foreign energy and emotion in her nearly overwhelm her. “NO!” Ceres shouted through gritted teeth. Opening her eyes she was stunned. She was no longer in her dining room of her home, instead she was standing alone in an infinite blackness before her was massive shadowy snakelike figure slithering in the abyss with a pair of huge glowing yellow eyes on a large V shaped head staring her down like two spotlights, dwarfing her.

“DREEEE!” the creature to cry out at Ceres a loud screech. An overwhelmingly powerful rush of loneliness and sorrow stabbed at Ceres’s heart.

“NO!” Ceres repeated stood steadfast looking straight back at the eyes, tears began to stream out of her eyes as the energy was overwhelming, “You WILL have me! And I WILL have YOU! You are not alone… anymore!”

“REEEEE!” the creature screeched loudly again as another rush of energy ravaged Cere’s body, but this was different, it was a sense of childlike wonder and a sense of the purist untainted hope she had ever felt.

“Yes… you will have me and I will never leave or abandon you! We will be one of the greatest of all time and rise above any challenge together!” Ceres smiled and reached out upward and forward towards the large shadowy slithering entity. The glowing eyes of the entity suddenly intensified into a brilliant blinding golden light, it was warm and familiar, then she realized was her own energy, and whatever the entity was, it had allow her to flow though it as she had it. She felt utterly exhausted, but at the same time she felt at peace with herself, serene, and above all

~Several Hours Later~
Ceres stirred herself awake in the late afternoon sun light. She was in her room not exactly confused or dazed but tired. Her hand was still gripping the Pokéball. She can feel something from her flowing into the ball, it wasn’t unpleasant, just something new. The ball also felt warm in her hand, not because she had been holding it but it felt alive, a life now lived in the ball. Thinking back she never even saw what kind of Pokémon she had bonded with. “Apologies for… passing out. We never got properly introduced.” She talked to the Pokéball in her hand after she sat up, she paused looking at the golden engraved symbol on the top. “… no going back now huh… but who wants to go back? … Not you or me…. Come now.” The Pokéball in her hand popped open releasing light inside, the formless mass quickly took form in front of her on her beg into a little snake-like creature roughly a foot and a half long, with a green body a large V shaped head with red tops and some red fins below them, large alerted yellow eyes, a ring of three spike-like fins near its tail, and two featureless flippers near the front of its snakelike body.

The little snake Pokémon hovered a few inches above the bed looking around the room then at Ceres and opened its mouth. “Rawww….” It made a throaty growl, it sounded neutral like a greeting.

Ceres was speechless, she had never seen a Pokémon like this before… thinking back Champion Leon has a Dragapult and it had shot these Pokémon out of its horns in battles. “Hello there!” Ceres greeted and offered her hand to it. “So you’re the base form of a Dragapult? Dreepy right?”

The Dreepy looked blankly at Ceres before it closed its eyes in joy then turned its attention to her out stretched hand. It floated near and placed one of its flippers on her index finger. She gently held it between the finger and her thumb and lightly shook it.

“Nice to meet you too!” Ceres laughed lightheartedly, the Dreepy looked at her confused and joined her in laughing, its laughter sounded like a taunting hiss.

RAWWW!

The Dreepy immediately wrapped its self around Ceres hand and up her forearm at the sudden roar from outside the window. Ceres could feel the Dreepy tremble as it tightened it body around her arm. Its little flipper-like hand was still in-between her fingers.

“Sorry about that.” Ceres gently rubbed the Dreepy’s back with her other hand as she lifted the Pokémon slightly higher for a better view out the window to see the silhouette of Typhon soaring around in the distance in front of the setting sun. “That’s Typhon, he’s my mom’s first partner like you are mine. He’s super strong… and between you and me, he can be sort of a showoff, but he’s got the skills to back it up though.” Ceres said looking at the Dreepy. Its fear was replaced by a sense of wonder and awe as it watched Typhon in the distance along with everything outside the window, Ceres could feel his powerful emotions, the Dreepy’s body was relaxed now resting comfortably wrapped around Ceres’s arm. “I already forgot you hatched this morning everything in this world must be so fascinating….”

The Dreepy turned its attention back Ceres “RAWW!” it tried to roar at her but failed.

“I still need to give you a name! Calling you Dreepy sounds like a nappy, so I’m going to give you a name, like Typhon, the Salamance! So, are you a boy or a girl?” Ceres asked, the Dreepy seemed to understand her to a certain level, he probably gained some knowledge when the bond was made. Hearing the word ‘boy’ the Dreepy nodded, he seemed to be very excited to have something of his very own. A powerful rush of excitement and giddiness flooded into Ceres that made her unable to hold back a wide smile. “Ok… hmm how about Gordon?” the Dreepy shook his head, no. “Sylvester?” No. “Mack?” No. “Clint?” No. Ceres put a finger to her lips in through and looked around the room trying to think of a name that the little guy would like. Every suggestion had been shot down. With a furrowed brow and uncertainty Ceres formulated a name from a mess of jumbled thoughts, “Snips?” The Dreepy lit up with excitement even more than it did before and nodded viciously, “You like that? Ok, for this moment onward you are now Snips!” Ceres gently patted his body wrapped around her arm. “So is this you’re spot now?”

Snips nodded and wrapped its flipper arms around her hand and laid his head flat on the back of her hand. Its body tightened slightly around her arm, adjusting himself so it was a bit more comfortable.

“You know what? Fine, this works. Just don’t be mad if you accidently hit your head... or get dizzy, feel free to flip yourself around.”

Thud… thud.

“You awake sweetheart?” Ceres’s mother asked softly though the door.

“Come on in.” Ceres hailed. Her mother entered holding a deep plate of curry, it fragrant aroma and spices instantly filled Ceres’s room and Snips’s body tensed.

“Since you kindly excused yourself from breakfast I thought you’d be hungry.” Cere’s mother smiled warmly as she approached Ceres’s bed. “How are you feeln’? Oh and what’s this? Who’s your little new friend here?”

“I’m fine mum, I’m sure you still know what it was like with Typhon when you bonded with him.” Ceres took the curry from her mother with her free hand. “Mum, I would like to introduce you to Snips!” Ceres held her arm up to show her mother, while Snips’s eyes were fixated on the plate, his mouth slightly agape and slightly drooling.

“Well nice to meet you, but I would suggest you give Snips some curry before he decides to chew on your fingers.” Her mom laughed.

“Right, he must be starving!” Ceres quickly lowered him in front and closer to the plate. “Go on now, help yourself, no need to be shy.” Snips didn’t hesitate and dive head first into the curry rapidly slurring, chewing, and devouring everything he could in sight. Ceres could feel the raw joy of the Pokémon as well as physically feel the hot food entering and moving down through its body, it was an odd and surreal feeling, feeling the hot food move though the body of another. “Gotta give me the recipe for this.” Ceres smiled watching Snips eat.

“Don’t worry I will, its Typhon’s favorite too ever since he was a little Bagon. You can bet if your window was open and he smelled it out there… let’s just say we’ll need to get you a new window.” Her mom nodded to Typhon still flying around outside, “I’ll get you some extra dear.”

Ceres watched as her mother left the room. Snips had stopped eating the curry and was looking up at Ceres, his mouth and most of his face slathered with sauce enhanced with a few grains of rice. “You’re a messier eater than my brothers!” Ceres said taking one of the many napkins her mother had brought her and gently wiped down his face. Looking back at the plate, there was only about a quarter left of what was originally there. “You’re kinda heavy when you’re full…” Snips looked at her, then at the food then back at her. “Or… you’re not full yet….” It took a moment for Ceres to understand that the bit left in the plate was for her. “Oh! Mum’s bringing in more, you go on ahead and finish.” With a nod from Snips he moved to finish the plate, he was dragging Ceres’s arm long with him as he was wrapped around it, he was stronger than he appeared.

~Present Day~

Ceres sat back in the computer chair staring at the United League page, an opened letter of acceptance laid strewn on the table along with her newly received trainer ID. She had just registered herself for the League. She had just taken the first steps on her journey like her mother did long ago. She looked to her side at the new pack her mother had made for a journey, simple, yet practical filled with everything the League required. As Ceres read the items needed from the list her mother practically recited every item from memory. Most of them they already had on hand and only needed to buy a few things. The consent from was signed and sent off. There wasn’t much more to do. She had been lurking around on the forums of the UPL reading greetings and discussions about each new individual in the Bronze League, but she had not posted on the site yet, not quite sure if it was even necessary.

You seem a bit apathetic… today. Is something wrong?

Nothing, just lost in thought is all.

Ceres heard a young boy’s voice in her head, it was Snips. She was still not quite used to him talking to her directly in her mind, the suddenness of it, it only happened a little over a month ago despite him hatching several months ago. When asking her mother and father about it they said it was natural when the bond is strong. After describing what she felt when she first bonded with Snips her mother was quite amazed that Ceres had inadvertently given herself wide open to the Pokémon, quite a dangerous gamble, but the bonds formed are much stronger and the intrinsic trust is also much higher as energy, emotion, and thought can flow much more freely thus the bond developing at a faster rate, but her mother did warn her about the dangers of doing such a raw and pure bond to a Pokémon not immediately hatching from an egg. It could be extremely dangerous, maybe even fatal if not treated with more care.

Snips was tapping around on Ceres’s green Rotom phone trying to figure it out, while relaxing on her bed behind her. Green wasn’t Ceres’s favorite color but it matched with Snips and decided to get it in his honor which greatly pleased him.

Over the past few months Ceres had learned an abundance from the little ghost dragon, about himself and about their bond in addition to increased physical and mental training regimes her mother had developed for them keeping them both in tiptop shape. Now having Snips just out and around didn’t bother either of them much at all.

Snips seemed to be especially sensitive to when Ceres has bad or negative emotions and would be very attentive and try to uplift her mood to the best of his ability hence his concern for Ceres when she’s feeling down. Ceres also learned that Snips is actually a very happy, optimistic, and jolly individual that loves to joke around and have a fun time, he is also extremely curious and eager to learn about anything and everything he comes into contact with, it made sense as he is still considered relative new to the world, and Ceres had taught him a lot about anything that interested him at the time, but Snips was still like a child, his interests are ever shifting, changing, and never ending.

You should post on the thingy, maybe talking to some other like-minded people will get your mind set more for the journey!

Ceres looked at Snips with a raised eyebrow before propping her left elbow on the armrest raising her forearm into the air. This beckoned Snips to fly across the room and wrap around her arm, it was one of his favorite positions. Ceres relaxed her wrist so the back of her hand was a comfortable perch for his head to rest on as he looked at the computer screen.

So like just an introduction? Seems kind of lackluster….

Maybe spruce it up a bit, these guys seem like newbies, so how about saying you got some cool stuff like Typhon!

That’s just straight up lying! I can’t do that.

I’m sure you can convince mum to lend him to you at least.

And kill me in the bonding process? Typhon may love me as one his own, but I’m not even close to bonding with something as powerful as him… besides, it’s against the rules.

That’s the only issue with that plan. Snips snickered in her mind and actual.

With one hand Ceres began awkwardly typing her post.

Hello everyone! I'm Ceres from Galar. Just like the rest of you all I'm a new trainer starting in Bronze! nice to meet you all!

Wow! That's super lame!

I just wanted to post something on here to say hello I don't think it matters about looking cool... besides this was your idea.

Yea... but like... do it good....

Ceres turned her wrist so the two were looking right at each other. Snips attempted to shrug with his nonexistent shoulders and droopy ghostly hands. Ceres couldn't help but laugh aloud at how awkward he looked.

Yea, yea, yea, laugh all you want! You know I'll be cool one day!

Ally had sat on her bed while her parents finished preparations downstairs. Her mother seemed to be a bit frantic, as she cursed when her wrist bumped into a handle and when she asked if she could help she had gotten a yell that she was fine. Ally had been well familiar with her father's advice: When mom was cooking, it was best to keep silent or be put in the line of fire, and she decided to keep her focus on the group message page of the Union app.

Ally had, perhaps a bit frantically, been refreshing the page as she waited to see if anyone would respond to her general comment. It was a bit of a desperate action, but until it was time to go to the Ceremony she had nothing better to do, and she clung onto hope that maybe someone would've taken interest in forming a group with her or including her in a group that had formed already. Constantly clicking the refresh tab made her worry that she'd break one of the buttons on her Pokesketch, but she seemed driven by this impulse to see maybe this time she'd get a notification.

And so, she'd refresh again.

And again.

And again.

And ag...
"Wait I think I got a reply!" Ally had thought to herself as she quickly saw she had a notification on the group chat. She read the message, and yes it seemed to address hers! Ally read through the message carefully, so this guy seemed to have a relative in Alola, that was kinda a pleasant surprise but most importantly he seemed to have interest in joining with her! Ally worked to calm down to not let the excitement overwhelm her as she worked her reply.

No I cannot say I am familiar with a Craig, but if I happen to bump into him I will be sure to send my regards. And I will compare "coolness" I suppose lol. Yeah, Wallace is one of my heroes actually and I desire to become a big name like the Coordinator greats but that is a long way from now obviously XD. Nice to meet you Guy, a Sinnoh native I see? Funny I voted that we have the Bronze League take place in Sinnoh so fingers crossed. And I would love to group up with you! However, shouldn't we wait till we know where we are going before deciding a meet up place?

With that Ally hit reply and her message had been sent as she had initiated the conversation. Ally only hoped she could keep the positive energy going but she seemed to like this well for lack of better word "Guy" already, though she'd wait to get more of a feel for him before she'd make judgements.

Kenzo briskly walked back to the front desk of the Pokemon Center, eager to receive his first Pokemon. As Kenzo reached the desk and grabbed the Pokeball that held his new friend, he could almost immediately feel the Synchronization Bond take place as he began to feel the onset of a splitting headache. As he went to go sit back down and ride out the headache before meeting his partner pokemon, he suddenly heard a voice.

"Hello? Is this working? Am I getting through?" Kenzo looked around confused, there was no one else in the Pokemon Center other than the Nurse Joy, and he was certain it wasn't her who'd just called out to him. Was... that voice in his head just now?

"Yes! It was in your head! Hello, I'm your new Pokemon, Gligar. Now I know what you're thinking, I can't actually speak English, but thanks to the bond you can interpret my thoughts in your language."

Kenzo was taken aback, suddenly the initial headache he'd had was gone too. Was this Gligar reading his thoughts? Come to think of it, this is actually what's supposed to happen, so maybe this is a good sign.

"It is a good sign! The bond hasn't been fully completed it seems, as you can't read my thoughts or feelings yet. I'd give it a few." The Gligar stopped communicating with Kenzo, probably to let him process the whole thing and complete the bonding process.

A few minutes later, Kenzo was back in the Pokemon Center lounge on the UPL forums, browsing the various comments people had left. A few more minutes of browsing later, and he came across a reply left by an Alolan Native, mentioning something about teams. Were they supposed to team up? Oh well, couldn't hurt to, it would be fun to travel across a region with a bunch of people.

Yo! I saw your message on the forum about teaming up. My names Kenzo, I'm from Icirrus City in Unova and I think it'd be totally cool to travel whatever regions we end up heading off to with some other people. I'm mainly interested in challenging gym leaders and taking on the league tournament. I saw you want to be a coordinator, so if you're willing to sit through a few gym battles here and there, I'd be more than willing to come along with you and whoever else you might already have with you.

@Godjacob

Guy looked around Jubilife City. It was pretty regular day for the most part. There were people walking around, cars moving around, pokemon flying around, and all sorts of sounds in between. The sound of children laughing came from around the corner. A couple kids ran down the sidewalk cheerfully. An older woman followed them. She smiled and waved at Guy before continuing to follow them. She must have been a mother or something. In this day and time, it'd be extremely irresponsible to leave a child unsupervised.

Guy had already been to the trainer's school, he had already been to the pokemon center and even the television broadcasting station, commented on forum posts, and yet still there was more to do. He thought about that for a moment before pulling his phone out. He looked on the forums. The forums weren't particularly interesting but at the very least it helped kill time. Guy had hoped his adventure would be in Sinnoh, though he obviously didn't know that for sure.

Guy thought about going to the Jubilife City Airport, but decided against it since he wasn't sure what region he'd be heading to. Plus there were already plenty of people there, and Guy didn't wanna wait in a long line. He looked back at his phone. He had a notification. Ally responded to his message. it would seem though she hadn't ran into Craig. Guy wasn't particularly surprised by this since Alola was likely a large place. He began typing a response.

You should! he's almost as cool as me! Not as cool, but close! I wanna say the bronze league is in Sinnoh, but sadly it hasn't been announced yet... For all tenses and purposes it could be held in Unova... Always wanted to visit the sandcastles in the Desert Resort. I also hear there is a feris wheel in Nimbasa City. If the bronze league took place there?! Forget about it... I'd never leave there. Though for now wait and see if any major announcements are made.

Guy chuckled as he wrote and responded back to Ally. He looked at Goju for a moment. Goju was now chasing a Mime Jr.

"Bon bon bon!(Translation: I'm gonna get you!" Goju cheered.
"Mime mime mime!(Translation: Not if I get you first!)" Mime Jr. Cheered.
"Bonslyyyy!(Translation: Oh no you don't!)" Goju cheered.
"Miiime!(Translation: Catch me if you can!)" Mime Jr. cheered once more.
The two pokemon went back and fourth chasing each other in circles. The Mime Jr. Trainer was a lady standing by an ATM. She had been withdrawing money for a few moments. She turned and smiled at the two pokemon play. Seeing them play put a smile on Guy's face as well. He turned back to his phone, and made another post.

Hello? The name's Guy! Fossil maniac. Ruins maniac! Devilishly handsome paleontologist extraordinaire! Whichever term you choose to use... Though for real though, are there any other ruin maniacs here tho? Where my fossil friends at!?!? Any archeologists? What's happening?! How's life?! Do any cool research lately? How's life? What's up? Anybody wanna talk about unknowns?

Avery saw a notification pop up, showing that she was tagged in a post. Her eyebrows twitched upwards and she clicked on the notification. Why in the world would someone tag her? Her post was harmless enough. At least she thought so. She was certain of it! She read the post and her stomach twisted. What was wrong with that person. She kept reading and she felt her anger boil. This was not acceptable behavior, especially from someone that was almost an adult. It seemed as if this person was a Kanto supremacist. She clenched her teeth together before she regulated her breathing. Probably a troll. Don't give him attention. That's what he wanted, attention.

Do. Not. Give. It. To. Him.

Her fingers flew across the keyboard, giving in to her temptation. Oh, how she wanted to get back at this guy!
First off, who the heck do you think you are insulting people because of the region they chose. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and this is to see ours, so shut up about us being basic, stupid, irrelevant, and drunk.
Second off, you're right, there isn't even a competition between Cynthia and Lance. Cynthia is far better than him! Cynthia's team is far more diverse and, quite honestly, her Todgekiss or Glaceon would probably kill half of his team easily, leaving only his Charizard, Aerodactyl, and Gyarados. Then she could easily use the rest of her team to get rid of the other three.
Third off, stop being a jerk. I bet you anything that people who have not voted yet, certainly don't want to go to Kanto now. And those that don't will be even more upset if you continue your regionist ways.

She was about to press enter when she stopped and deleted the post. She almost played into the troll. She almost gave him exactly what he wanted. So close. She read back over it. Even in her rage, it looked to have remained courteous, though she wasn't going to post it. She sighed as she slowly deleted the post. She was not going to give the regionist the satisfaction of her response.

The girl sighed, pushing the laptop away from her for a moment. She should probably leave. Grab her starter. Bond with the serpentine dragon. A smile crept to her face. That sounded nice. She stood up and arched her back, stretching.

She glanced over at Noah and frowned. She didn't notice that her friend was down in the dumps while she was picking a Pokemon with her parents. However, now, she felt bad. He was her friend! He fought with his parents over this! What did he get in return? His friend doing the thing that he probably wanted to do with his family. She grimaced. "Hey, uh, Noah, I'm headed down to the Pokemon Center to retrieve my new Pokemon. Want to come with?" Before waiting for a reply, she left, expecting Noah to follow. After all, she doubted he wanted to stay in her apartment when he could go meet his Pokemon.

She didn't talk much on her way to the Pokemon Center, too excited to meet her Dratini. She wondered if she was actually going to be getting a difficult Pokemon, but thought against it. After all, the official league was giving her the Dratini.

What would be a good name for her, though? Avery's face scrunched up in concentration. Blue? No, Dragonite was orange. Cutsies? No, that's what a five-year-old would name a Pokemon, not a soon-to-be professional trainer!

Clear doors slid open for Avery as she entered the Pokemon Center before walking up to the counter. "Um, ma'am, I'm here for my new Pokemon."

"You're going to have to be more specific than that, dearie."

"Um, she is a Dratini. I just got her from the UP-"

"Oh! She and one other just came in! Hold on, I'll be right back." Avery watched the nurse disappear into the back room for a few moments before the woman reemerged with a Pokeball. She wore a glove as she handed the Pokeball to Avery. "This is the Dratini." The Pokeball, Avery noticed, had the official dragon symbol. Was probably made that way to help in finding the right Pokemon if multiple came to an area. If that were to happen. Avery took the Pokeball and felt a new sensation. She felt tired. Exhausted. The nurse looked at her worriedly. "How about you sit down, dearie."

Avery nodded, her head clouded with a terrible headache. Maybe her parents were right in their quiet suspicion. Maybe Dratini was too much for her.

No!

She wanted the Dratini. She was willing to go through this... this...

Her vision went black.

After a few minutes, she groaned, her vision obscured by a white snout. She blinked. Is-is that the Dratini I got? She smiled at the creature. "Hey there." Her tone was soft and gentle. The Dratini tilted her head and a wave of calm flooded Avery. She felt like her Pokemon wanted to nap some. Avery chuckled. "Aw, you're a cute little thing." Her Dratini was much smaller than what the Pokemon Excyclopedia stated. She wondered if her Dratini had any health issues before dropping the thought. After all, it just hatched, according to the website. Avery picked up the Dratini, her being light while being small, and walked over to a computer housed in the Pokemon Center.

Pretty sure I can get Noah to join me. Maybe look for some more people to help us? Avery quickly logged into her account and typed up something quickly.

Hello! Avery here again! I am looking for a group! I'm certain that I have one other person with me, and those who do join me should be willing to follow the Pokecampers moral guidelines. Hope someone would be willing to join me and possibly my friend for this journey!

Hilda, done with her chores, entered her father's house and released Felix from his Pokeball. The Lilipup shook his fur and barked. "Did you really have to keep me locked in the capsule again?!"

Hilda ignored the dog, who barked even more. She knew he hated the Pokeball, but she was terrified of what he was going to turn into. What he was going to evolve into. She shook the thought away, trying not to think about it too much. Instead, she hopped on the UPL forums. "Hey! Are you even listening?!"

She read through a number of the votes. Then someone called Unova irrelevant. Her eyes narrowed with anger, but she needed to play it cool. After all, others were already blasting the guy. She rubbed her chin, something her father did when he was thinking. She had an idea. "Hey! Hilda! Who are you mad at? Who! Who!" Felix jumped and barked behind her.

Hilda slowly typed up a response, not really used to using a computer. She was more often outside.
Howdey, y'all! I'm Hilda from Unova, and I vote we go somewhere that is irrelevant. Far better than that pretentious region that is too far stuck up their own rear to see that they are the problem. My vote is Unova, the most irrelevant region that deserves some love, unlike the pretentious Kanto. Any other region is mighty fine too.
Oh! Ron. I can team up with you. However, I'm not looking for a relationship.

She posted and sat back, Felix still barking. "Will ya shut up!"

"Well, you've been ignoring me!" Hilda gave an exasperated sigh.

Ezio read the newest messages on the forums and stifled a laugh, seems that some people were using it as a dating site. And a way to troll people, but that was inevitable. There were always going to be people who just wanted to be jerks. Deciding to not give them the time of day, the boy preemptively blocked the troll before writing his post. After all, why not humor the people that were actual contributing? This 'Guy' guy seemed interesting in particular.

Devilishly handsome and a paleontologist? Where have you been all my life? My name is Ezio, apprentice to Gym Leader Lenora in the Unova region and I'd say that I have a reasonable amount of knowledge on the history of Unova and its fossils. Lately we've been researching the meteorites that are on display. There appears to be some sort of power emenating from it, but we have no clue what it is or how to use it. It doesn't appear to be harmful though, so the meteorite stays on display for now. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you have, Guy. I'd love to answer ;). If anyone else has questions about Unova or anything related to archeology, don't be afraid to ask. I don't bite.

Shaking his head as a guilty smile crept on his face, Ezio let his head lean on his hand. God, this was cheesy. What was the chance that he'd meet those people though? He had nothing to lose, now did he?

Ally had gotten her things in order as he mother called her to come downstairs, it seemed it was time to head over to Hala for the coming ceremony which Ally had all the nerves and excitement over, but as she got her Pokeball to put on her belt she had to split her focus as it seemed she was greeted with a reply from Guy but also seemed to get a new reply, could it be another who wants to team with her? Ally had not believed her luck, though just as quickly as the shock came she had worked to give him an answer after she read his reply over carefully.

Alola! Nice to meet you Kenzo, oh and uh yeah context "Alola" is sort of like a customary greeting/phrase here in Alola. Anyway getting back on topic, awesome! Yeah that should work with us, I also am talking to a guy from Sinnoh who aspires to be a paleontologist. I think the three of us could gell very well together wherever we end up going lol the wait is killing me >-<. I may be a Coordinator but I still appreciate a classic Pokemon Battle, so if you respect the time to stop for my affairs I do not mind waiting for you in cities with Gym or the League.

Ally had given her reply Kenzo before she worked to then type in a reply to guy as she seemed to bubble over with excitement, to go from nobody to a team of 3 in such a short period had given Ally some confidence in her people skills even if over text. Or merely her luck, but regardless she soon typed out a reply to her first contact.

XD well I guess we shall find out if our paths cross, you'll be the first to know. Yeah, until the announcement is made we are just flying blind with this team planning thing, still figure getting it done soon as we can can only help us when the announcement comes. Sounds like there is much fun waiting in Sinnoh, but it is better to not get too excited for it especially when we do not net know where we go. AlSO I think I may have gotten contact with another who will join us. From Unova who desires to compete in the Pokemon League, any issue with that?

Ally soon entered reply as she smiled, before she moved downstairs as she figured that everything seemed to be falling into place; the announcement was soon to come over what region the teams would enter, she had been about to undergo the Synchronization Bond Ceremony with Hala to prepare for that venture, and now it seemed she had began to form a team of her own. Ally had felt she was on cloud nine as she made her way to the car as her mother and father entered the driver's and front seat respectively.

Soon, they had drove off, supplies and food and all, towards Hala.

Noah was idly watching the TV screen, where a replay and commentary of the previous battle was playing while the battlefield was cleared and reset for another match. The commentators made some good points about the match, but Noah couldn't help but be distracted by wondering how he would have approached the battle, and as a result lost track of what was being said. Before he could even attempt to focus on the commentary again, his attention was drawn to Avery, who invited him to come with her to the Pokemon Center.

After giving a quick "Sure, I'll come with," as she headed for the door, he got up from his seat on the living room floor. His legs felt a little tingly and numb from sitting criss-cross applesauce on the ground, but he shook it off and hurried after her, closing the door behind him. He had to hustle a little to catch up to her, but from there the walk to the Pokemon Center was spent in companionable quietness, with very little conversation exchanged.

Admittedly, he was a little curious to know which starter she had chosen, but he decided not to ask since he would presumably find out in a couple of minutes. He didn't mind the silence, either, because he was thinking of potential names for his own partner Pokemon. Several came to mind, including Amethyst, Tulip, Mari, and Joy. However, he had no idea how much any of them would actually fit his partner, so he knew he would definitely hold off on selecting a name for her until after he got to meet her.

He was still a little lost in thought by the time they reached the Pokemon Center, but he focused back in on what was in front of him and followed Avery through the sliding glass doors. The Pokemon Center wasn't a place he had a reason to visit very often, but it was always pleasant when he did come. The atmosphere of the place was calm and pleasant, and it brought a smile to his face. There was a faint smell of cleaning supplies, possibly from the floors which looked like they had been mopped recently. However, what really drew his attention at the moment was the desk in front of them, which was attended by one of the nurses.

Noah let Avery do the talking. After a brief exchange between his friend and the nurse, the latter left the counter and entered the back room. Noah felt a surge of excitement as he waited for her to come back. There was a chance that his Pokemon wasn't actually here yet, of course. The nurse hadn't actually specified what the 'one other' was, after all. But as soon as she came back with Avery's Pokemon, he could ask!

However, he didn't get to ask right away, because as soon as the nurse came back with the Pokeball (the lid of which Noah was very interested to see held a Dragon Type symbol) and Avery touched it, the nurse looked a little concerned. Turning to see why, he found his friend swaying a little. "Well that's not a good sign."

The nurse suggested she sit down, and Noah watched as Avery nodded her head and staggered over to the nearest chair. She certainly didn't look very good, and as much as he wanted to ask the nurse about his Ralts, he was too concerned for his friend at the moment. After all, he'd been waiting for most of his life to get a starter, what was a few more minutes now? "A lot, actually, but... it can wait."

He walked over to another chair near her and sat down, but before he had even gotten fully settled, he heard a metallic clatter and the sound of a Pokeball opening. Looking over at his friend, he saw a few things: First, an open Pokeball resting on the floor. Second, that Avery seemed to have passed out, which may or may not have scared him a little. (You have no proof.) And third, a blue, serpentine Pokemon climbing up onto Avery's stomach. Noah quickly identified it as a Dratini, and made a mental note to congratulate his friend on her choice once she woke up.

Moving slowly so as not to spook the Pokemon, Noah leaned forward in his seat and grabbed the Pokeball from where it rested on the floor and closed the lid, then minimized it. He considered trying to slip it into one of her pockets, but decided against it. He didn't want to disturb them. He could just hand it to her later.

He settled back in his chair, eyes still on his friend and her new Dragon Type companion. He wasn't the most skilled at reading people or Pokemon's emotions, but the Dratini seemed concerned, to him. "Well, that's good to see. Wonder how long it will be before Avery wakes up... should I go ahead and get Nurse Joy to bring me my starter while Avery is out...? No... well, maybe. If Avery's out for more than ten minutes, I'll just go ahead and ask. Hopefully she wakes up first. It would be good to have someone to catch me if I instantly pass out, hehe. heh..." His thoughts began to drift into worries about the side effects, and if he really would pass out like Avery.

Before more than five minutes had passed, though, he heard a groan from Avery, and then the soft sound of her voice talking to the infant Dratini. He released a sigh, and then let a grin spread across his face as he viewed the pair. He was relieved to see that Avery looked better, and after a moment she got up with her Dratini and walked over to a computer, which was definitely a good sign compared to her staggering steps after first touching the Pokeball.

He followed her over to the computer, minimized Pokeball in hand, and placed it on the surfacetop next to the keyboard. "It fell on the ground earlier, so I picked it up. Wouldn't do to let it get stepped on," he stated with a smile. Without waiting for any response, he turned and went over to the front counter.

It was finally time.

He addressed the nurse politely, hope and excitement bubbling within him and barely concealed in his speech. "Hello ma'am, uhm, I would like to pick up a Pokemon that the UPL sent? It's a Ralts." He knew it probably wasn't needed, but he held up his Trainer Card as he spoke.

"Oh, of course! Your Pokemon is already here, so I'll be right back with it. Please just give me one moment."

Once again the nurse went into the back room, and Noah was left to wait at the desk. He began subconsciously bouncing up and down on the balls of his feet in his excitement. This was something he had been looking forward to for as long as he could remember, and he was getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

The nurse came back with a shiny red Pokeball in hand, the Fairy Type symbol emblazoned upon the lid. Noah had to restrain himself from instantly snatching it out of the nurse's gloved hands, and his fingers wiggled with nervous energy as he gave a polite bow. "Thank you so much!" he straightened back up and held out his hand to take the Pokeball.

His fingertip touched the lid, and he froze for a fraction of a second, hardly even an instant, as a jolt of something passed into him. He didn't even notice the sensation, though, as he continued his motion and took the Pokeball in his hand. At first he felt no different, aside from an odd buzzing fuzz in his mind. Before 15 seconds had passed, though, a dull throb had begun in his head, and it slowly but surely began to intensify. His bowels didn't feel quite right, either, so he hurried over to the seats and sat down. His headache was intensifying, though, and the throbbing pulses weren't enough to distract him from the fact that he was beginning to feel dizzy. The floor in front of him seemed to spin and sway, and he clenched his eyes shut, teeth gritting against one another and heart beating more quickly than he thought it should be.

He sat there, hoping for this misery to cease or at least fade, but for what seemed like several hours (but was actually much less) no relief came. He sat in the chair, clutching his head and pulling gently at his hair, knowing all he could do was wait for the pain to subside.

When the throbbing in his head lessened and his mind cleared somewhat, he was aware of a change. He felt sore, and his brain felt like jelly, but somewhere in his chest there was a light, a sense of being and of wonder. Somehow, he knew intuitively that this was the presence of Ralts, introduced through the bond. He couldn't hear her yet, but he was eager to fix that. Now that he could think again, he was finally ready to meet her.

He activated the Pokeball and released her onto the floor in front of him. He caught sight of her for only a few seconds before a wave of nausea hit him and the throbbing in his head increased once more, forcing him to close his eyes. But through the ache, he heard or felt the Ralts' voice.

'You are... in pain.'

He opened his eyes in surprise, instantly regretting it as the world swirled before him. He closed them again quickly, and focused on communicating mentally.

'Mm... Hi there. Yeah, I've got a really bad headache... but it's wonderful to meet you, Ralts! My name is Noah. Oh yeah, that reminds me, I need to pick out a name for you...'

'Um... I... I don't think you should worry about that now... Noah.'

'Thanks for the concern, but I'm fi-'

He paused as he felt saliva begin to gather in his mouth. He knew what that meant, and he lurched to his feet hastily. He got a sense through the connection that his Ralts had been startled by the sudden movement, but he couldn't focus on that. He needed to get to the restroom so he could puke.

Apparently she had sensed his thoughts as well, because as he began to move he heard her voice once more.

'Noah, I th-think I can help... I could try to teleport you there.'

A small hand grasped the leg of his jeans as he began to make his way toward the bathroom, and he felt a tingle of energy building, but it fizzed out. Neither of them knew what had happened at the time, but what prevented the Teleport was the Energy Limited on the Pokeball preventing her from over-drawing on his Fortitude. As it was, she was left very confused about why her attempt had failed, and Noah made an unsteady dash for the men's room.

- - - - - - - - - -

A short time later, Noah emerged from the bathroom with an empty stomach and an acidic taste lingering in his throat. Ralts had returned to her Pokeball before he started throwing up, but she was clearly unhappy with having been forced to experience it through their bond anyways.

His headache had eased slightly since throwing up, and Ralts being in her Pokeball seemed to help as well, so now he had only a gentle pulse of pain rather than the brain-splitting dizziness from before. He walked back over to the chair, rubbing his at temples as he did so, and sat down. Once he was settled, he reached out through the bond.

'I want to apologize again for that, I'm very sorry you had to deal with me throwing up. But, uh, if you want we could re-introduce ourselves later when I'm feeling better.'

'Mmm... I accept your apology, Noah,'
Now that his headache had eased up, he could hear her much better, and he took note of how soft her voice sounded. 'And... maybe, but I don't see why.'

'Well, I didn't make a great first impression, I suppose.'

'I don't mind.'

'Oh, well, that's good. Thanks for being understanding, R... yeah, I need a name for you. How about...'

'Stella.'

'What?'

'I like the name Stella.'

'Oh. Oh, okay then, Stella it is. It's a pretty name.'

'Yes.'

'Well then, Stella, would you be okay meeting one of my friends and her new Pokemon later?'

'...'

'I understand if you're shy, but I promise Avery is nice. And I won't force you, you can stay in the Pokeball.'

'Uhm...'

'Oh, wait, you'll probably get to meet her through me... sorta. So if you want you can probably stay in your Pokeball for now.'

'Okay.'

Mental conversation concluded, Noah began searching the room with his eyes, looking for Avery.

((OOC: In a few parts of my post, notably the part where Avery seems unsteady on her feet, where the Pokeball falls on the floor, and when Dratini seems concerned, it may seem like I'm autoing. However, I talked to Playful about it and she said it was alright to do so. Thank you for reading this post.))

"So how long you plan on staying bro?" Ron's roommate asked as he leaned against the door of Ron's room.

Ron was laying on his bed, with Furia soundly asleep against his side. He exhaled loudly, feeling still tired from the bond but was a bit more used to it, like getting your breathing right on a steady jog. He could feel how calm Furia was, compared to how annoyed and curious she had been at the Pokemon Center. He hated to admit it, but his roommate was probably the one responsible for Ron picking a partner that shared similar feelings about the world like he did, which was impressive compared to how young the small Cyndaquil was. He slowly sat up on his bed, making sure Furia's head rested on his lap as to keep her comfortable.

"Was thinking of staying two more days and then going off to Olivine just in case I need to head to another region, which is most likely after looking at the forums. Why?" Ron gave a suspicious look towards his roomie. "Did you already rent out my room?"

"What?! HAHA! Wow so quick to jump to conclusions." The chubby blonde man nervously began to walk away from Ron's room. "But yeah, I did. They're moving in tomorrow morning."

"Wow you're such an asshole." Ron shook his head as he reached out to his night stand and took Furia's Pokeball. "I'll be heading out then."

"Sorry I saw you packed everything and seemed ready to leave I figured you weren't coming back."

Ron slowly pressed the Pokeball against Furia's head and the Pokemon returned back inside, letting Ron feel like he could breath a bit better. "I told you it was going to be about a week before I left, I packed everything in case I went out and forgot to do, don't want to rush or fall behind when the league starts."

After Ron got his backpack and boots on, he slapped his roommate on the back of the head before giving him a goodbye bro hug. The two shared a quick beer and soon the punk left. He had decided to head over to Olivine the long way, avoid any areas where he could encounter wild Pokemon. First was a bus trip to the Pokeathlon. Ron was into working out, staying healthy and in shape in order to be able to compete in the Bronze League, despite his drinking and eating habit, he had pretty good stamina. He had also began following famous Pokeathletes and trainers from around the world, always looking to learn from their performances. Although Whitney's GYM would have been a good choice to learn a thing or two about battles, it was always packed. So the next best option was the sport stadium outside of Goldenrod, where he could get some tips or strategies to train his Pokemon in the future.

While on the bus Ron decided to check the UPL Forum, see if anything new was going on. To his surprise somebody had already joined his team, he was not expecting his post to work or anyone to consider him as a teammate. However he noticed somebody had accepted to start a team with him.

Thanks for teaming up with me Hilda. Don't worry I'm not looking for a relationship either, I just thought it would be funny to post something like that and I think it worked. Anyways, I just read the announcement, Sinnoh? I suggest we meet at Fight Area. Not a lot of new trainers start there so we can find each other easier, avoid a crowd and plan our trip. I'll be heading there tomorrow, so I can arrive a few days before the league starts. Nice meeting you btw!

He leaned back on his sit of the bus and began to wonder about Sinnoh. He had never been to the place but he knew some of the best battlers in the world where from Sinnoh or lived there, like the Champion Cynthia. He wasn't expecting to run into any of them or even battle them, but it meant the place had potential to help him become stronger. Now the question was, what kind of Pokemon would he find there? Ron's mind wondered the rest of the trip up to the Pokeathlon.

Once he arrived he let Furia out once more, trying to get used to their bond. As he expected he felt a bit more pressure on his chest, but he was having less trouble breathing than before. They both made their way to the stadium and to the ongoing competition. The dash competition was about to start and a guy named Usain Bolt was the crowd favorite along with his Manetric. Furia seemed very interested in the competition as the the participants dash across the track, dodging obstacles and switching with their teammates to avoid fatigue. But it was the Manetric that impressed everyone, covering more ground than any other Pokemon in the competition.

"Maybe we can try it out one day." Ron leaned back and patted Furia's head gently.

The fire mouse was too busy to even notice Ron talking to her as she watch the next competition. Ron smiled as he felt her need to compete, to see how far she could go. It was exactly what he wanted from his partner, someone who wanted to challenge the best of the best.

The rest of the the events ended and Usain Bolt's team took the most medals, declaring them the winners of the entire competition. Ron stuck around to hear the interview about Bolt's training routine.

"We stared small, ankle weights, jogging everyday and added more each day, trying to improve at least one second everyday. The goal was first to become the best we can be and then try and become the best anyone can be. It was a long process full of sweat and tears, but we're finally on our path to be number one and we aren't stopping now."

Ron was not surprised by his answer, it was something typical top Pokeathletes said. Although there was some truth in it, he didn't really learn anything new. What the trip did manage though was Furia's passion for competing. A fire had been ignited inside the new Pokemon and that fire was going to power them up from now on. They left the stadium with a satisfied look, heading to the bus station for their next destination.

Guy sat there watching people pass by, contemplating where to go next. He pet his lil bonsly before turning his attention back to his phone. He got a response from someone named Ezio. Ezio seemed like someone who knew a good deal on fossils, but what was this about meteors? Hmmm.

Yep As a matter of fact, wait... Did you say Lenora?! Lenora. The gym leader? The ruin maniac of Nacrene city! That Lenora? That Lenora. That's cool. Isn't she married to that one dude? String bean with the weird hairline. What's his name? Hops? I think Hawes or something? She has a museum. Nooooot as cool as a dinosaur park. Nay, but she is pretty experienced in her field, and you work with her? That makes you honorary cool! By association! Meteorites huh? That's cool. Space pokémon are pretty neat! I think theres a pokemon called elgyem or something that came from space. Now that you mention it...

Are the meteors in Unova any different from the ones in Sinnoh south of Veilstone City?

Have you been to the sand castle in the desert resort?! I need to know! What's it like?!

Guy chuckled after he clicked sent. Asking Ezio a question was almost like asking Lenora a question!

Guy looked down to see he got another response from Ally. Wonder what she wrote this time? Guy sat Goju on his lap, and began to read the message.

Totally psyched! Sounds cool! I can't wait for the announcement! GGs! Pokémon league? Who? A gym challenger? EEehhhhhhh.... Uuuughhh... No? I personally got nothing necessarily against gym challengers... Pokémon battles are cool and all I guess... Not as cool as watching a coordinated performance or uncovering ancient history, but its alright... To each their own, but most importantly. To adventure! and Treasure! making new friends! Goju says hi btw! My bonsly.

He clicked sent and smiled. While simultaneously being completely oblivious to the announcement that had just been recently made.

"I swear... People don't read..." A man mumbled as he walked by, though he wasn't referring to Guy or his lack of awareness to the recently made announcement by the pokémon league. Guy looked over at the man as he walked by.

Ceres hadn’t paid much attention to the forums after she posted, instead she got her Rotom Phone checked out by League officials and got it certified so when her journey started she wouldn’t have to worry about it.

Have I told you that I am absolutely terrified of Typhon? Snips said as they returned from the League Registry in Motostoke.

I know, I can feel it when you’re afraid around him, and other emotions too in other situations, Typhon isn’t that bad once you get to know him. Ceres sat down in her computer chair, placed her phone on the desk and yawned lazily.

Hehehe! Hey I don’t think I’ve ever felt you being scared yet.

Why should I? I’m home, there’s nothing here that’s really scary… well except for maybe Typhon, but Typhon wouldn’t do anything to hurt any of us. Ceres opened up the forums that she posted on earlier, scanning past some of the other posts, they seemed rather eccentric and were arguing about essentially nothing, and then something caught her eye. A post from someone named Avery looking for a group, and by the sound of it a fan of camping.

What are you excited about? Snips floated over to Ceres from his resting place over her bed, mistaking her interest for excitement. The two of them had made a small nest on a shelf that, with the help of her dad, nailed to the wall of her headboard shelving positioned in a way she wouldn’t knock herself out from sitting up. Snips’s nest is a large circular cushion, various smaller pillows and a sheet that was his absolute favorite, all of it custom made by Cere’s mother, with the exception of the blanket which Ceres made for the little ghost dragon.

Some girl looking for an adventuring group that’s into camping. Ceres began to type a response.

Camping? What’s that? Snips wrapped around her arm, his head bobbing up hand down with her hand as Ceres typed.

Oh, that right you haven’t gone camping yet. It a super fun activity where we all go out to the wilderness and live there in tents. Looking at the stars, making camp fires, enjoying meals around the fire. It’s so much fun…. A tent is like a small portable house. Ceres added sensing Snips’s confusion.

Hello Avery, I’m Ceres and I’d love to join your group. I’m from Galar and been camping for as long as I can remember. Would be great if you would have me as part of your group. Just let me know!
@ThePlayfulFox

You know who’s not scary in this house? Wanna guess? Snips suddenly thought.

My brothers?

No, but not untrue… guess again!

Felix?

Felix is super nice, but he can be pretty rough sometimes for me, try again.

Ceres rolled her eyes. Snips had a habit of playing these types of guessing games with her, he seemed to get some kind of enjoyment watching her think and deduce. Not all of his guessing games were always so easy. I dunno… Pyron? Her father’s Arcanine.

Haha! You’re funny, he’s like the second scariest thing around here.

Esther?

YES! She’s so nice, and feeds me snacks and stuff….

Is that why you’ve been gaining some weight? Gotta keep a closer eye on you two.

You can feel that I get heavier?

Yes! And if you keep gaining weight you’re going to be too heavy for me to carry you around on my arm.

So was Esther ever a battler?

Of course, from what mum told me, Esther was a force to be reckoned with, she was my mum’s second bonded Pokémon way back when Esther was still an Eevee, but she’s really calmed down after mum finished her journey. Ceres looked behind her and saw that Esther was actually sleeping on the bed curled up with her large ears resting and pointing out on either side. She looked so peaceful and adorable. Fun fact about Esther, she has seven other siblings that belong to my other aunts and uncles. Aqua the Vaporeon, Blitz the Flareon, Chazzy the Jolteon, Dazzle the Sylveon, Esther, Faust, the Umbreon, Gabbie the Glaceon, and Hawthrone the Leafeon.

Wow the whole group huh? Have you met them all? I would like to meet them all one day.

Of course I have, when I was little I played with them all the time when they came to visit. I’m sure you will either on our journey you might meet some of them, if not, then definitely at the next family meet up.

Esther stirred in her sleep slightly, her tail flopping a few time before her eyes opened up and she looked up from her laying position at Ceres who was staring at her with Snips. Esther returned their stare with a slightly cocked head, a bit confused. She stretched lazily and leapt of the bed then onto Ceres’s computer desk and sat down like the dignified lady she was. She looked at Ceres then at the computer screen. Ceres gently stroked Esther from neck to tail.

There was something about Esther’s stare that made Ceres feel safe and secure. Whenever Esther stared at Ceres it felt like her mother was watching her, it could very well be. Her mother did tell Ceres that when she was a baby Esther was very protective of Ceres and watched over her like a guardian. And action that she did not repeat to either of her brothers.

Esther’s attention suddenly turned to her door a few seconds before Cere’s mother called from downstairs. “Ceres would you come downstairs? And Bring Snips, Your father and I have something for you!”

Ceres and Snips looked at each other and shrugged then headed down, Esther following suit.

Avery looked over at Noah when he was done handing her the Pokeball and smiled. "Oh. Thanks!" But he was already gone. Her hand reached to grab the Pokeball and looked at it. She had completely forgotten about it after she woke up. Was that bad? Was she already failing as a trainer? She glanced down at the Dratini. How in the world did she escape? She scratched the Dratini's chin, making the blue snake coo. Avery shook the questions out of her head, as she started to feel some concern from the small snake. Instead, she looked back at her the computer and saw two messages. She smiled. People already replied? Sweet! When she clicked to see her notifications, she saw she actually got one reply. However, the other was the official region announcement. She felt extremely excited, sincerely hoping that it was not Kanto.

She skimmed through the announcement and silently cheered. Her region won! They were going to Sinnoh! Her fists shot up and she had her chair spin. "Woo! Sinnoh!" Her chair stopped spinning, facing Noah in his sickly state. "Uh, Noah, are you good? Do you need help?"

She bit her lip as he ran off, disappearing into the men's restroom. She would've helped, but, well, she wasn't a male. She wasn't welcome inside of the male restroom. She swallowed and turned back to the computer, worried for Noah. The Dratini nuzzled her cheek. "Man, you really like trying to cheer me up, huh." She scratched the Dratini again and looked at the second notification.

Did Ceres know about the Pokecampers? She shook the thought out of her mind and typed away. She defiantly was not going to refuse someone because they never heard of the organization she had been a part of for years now.

Hey Ceres! Avery here! I would be glad to have you on my team, as you seem like a nice person. However, you seem not to know the Pokecampers as an organization. We do a lot of camping, yes, but we also do our best to help the community and protect the environment by picking up litter and treating the wildlife with proper respect!
She hit enter on her post and smiled, hoping for a positive response.

By the time she was done posting, Noah was apparently back. She glanced over at him. "Hey, are you ok?" She glanced at him, worry in her eyes. Seeing that he seemed to be fine, she gave a fake cough. "So, um, want to team up for the league? It's taking place in Sinnoh and I think I already have someone else wanting to join!" She smiled at him, hoping that he was fine.

Hilda stretched and glanced back over at the computer. Another post so quickly? Was this guy glued to the screen? She shook her head. Not everyone worked in the fields like her family did. She shouldn't judge. She read through the reply and started typing.
I'll have to see when I can head over to that region then. Thank goodness it's not Kanto, like that pretentious son of a motherless Gogoat wanted. Otherwise I would've been like a Tauros and stamped all over the place.
As for where we meet, that sounds good! I'll see you when I can make it there.

She read over her post before sending it out with a smile. "You seem happy!" Felix wagged his tail as he barked.

She did wonder, however, when was the Sinnoh region chosen. Maybe in the other notification she would gather that information. She clicked on it, mentally facepalming herself due to her missing that. After knowing already that they were going to Sinnoh, she didn't really celebrate or anything. Although, she couldn't help herself but post something to the troll.
Guess we're going to overrated Sinnoh. I have to say, much better than pretentious Kanto, in my opinion. But then again, I am from irrelevant Unova, so what do I know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

She laughed as she posted, Felix pestering her to know what was so entertaining. "Oh, just messing with a troll." She felt confusion from the dog as she stood up and picked him us, her fingers melting into the course brown fur as he was held to her shoulder. "You know, messing with him because he insulted Unova." She felt as if the dog understood better, and she stood there, petting him.

Noah stood up and began to walk towards Avery as she addressed him, but he had to pause and regain his equilibrium after getting to his feet. His head began to pound harder for a few seconds, and he winced, although it still wasn't as bad as it had been before. Once it faded again he continued towards her, and let an only slightly forced grin settle onto his face. In response to her first question, he gave a nod of his head.

"Yeah, 'm mostly okay. Got a headache, but it eased up after I, uh, cleared my stomach. You kind of scared me when you passed out earlier, you know."

He paused, thoughts interrupted by a nagging feeling in his mind. Once he took a second to focus on it, he realized that it was Stella taking her first impression of Avery. He certainly hoped it was a good one, especially considering his response to Avery's second question.

"Woohoo, Sinnoh! This will be fun. And of course! I'd love to team up with you."

'Hey Stella, uh, sorry, I just realized you might not have known this, but in the Bronze League we have to travel in teams. Since I already know Avery, I was thinking we could go with her. It's better than going with three people we've never met before, but I guess I should still ask, are you okay with teaming up?'

'Uhhm... I will try it. She is... nice, but I can not read her emotions from in here...'

'Oh yeah, I forgot Ralts could do that. Uh, I'm sure you'll get a chance later once my head stops hurting, okay?'

'Mhm.'

"Avery, Stella says she's alright with teaming up as well. I'll let you two meet later, once my headache dies down some more. Until then, I'm happy to hang out here or go back home."

Meletē skimmed the announcement, exasperated. The bulk of the message was dedicated to yet more spiel on the rules and regulations of the Bronze league—as if shoving them down their throats for the umpteenth time would do any good. The pencil-pushers at the UPL were sticklers for by-the-book procedure; preempting the start of every League, they reposted the rules. It was a matter of fact that the rules for the Bronze league hadn't changed in the near-decade since its inception. Two years before, her older brother had received a message just like this one when he embarked on his own bronze ranked journey. Now it was time for her own journey and the messaged looked quite the same—she'd even bet it was verbatim.

Meletē rolled her eyes and moved on. The only item of interesting was...a poll to decide on the region? Her curiosity peaked and she tapped into the thread. She read through the messages, quite animatedly at first; but her interest drained after each comment. Sinnoh... Johto... Sinnoh... Kanto... Sinnoh... Unova... Sinnoh... Wow, they really liked Sinnoh.

Regardless, the comments only reaffirmed the usual state of affairs—"Forgotten...as usual." Meletē threw her phone aside, uninterested in the on-going discussion.

Despite all its beauty, Oblivia had always been a minor region, with a small population and not much presence on the international stage. They had no powerful trainers, prominent coordinators, prestigious professors...nothing. It wasn't surprising; Oblivia's history considered. The first pokeballs, and in turn the first Pokémon trainers, had only graced the island-nation's shores in the weeks following the second Darkest Day. Maybe if they had picked up Pokemon-Battling just a few years earlier...

Meletē shifted, slid off her bed, and shuffled over to the posterior window. She faced a vast expanse of flowers and trees, that stretched further than the eye could see—the farm. Just on the outskirts of her vision she could see the blossoming blues of oran berries and iridescence of flowering wildflowers. It was a beautiful boundary; the tree-line marked the end of the farm—at least, it marked the end of the area she had been allowed to explore. Beyond there were depths of the Sophian Forest and the peaks of Mt. Sorbet. Her eyes lingered on the mountain peak and her fingers caressing her now sweaty palms.

Despite its sweet-sounding name, Mt. Sorbet was anything but. The icy peaks were rife with danger, home to powerful ice-type Pokémon and an even more powerful dragon—the Red Terror. It was called such over the blood-red color of its wings: the only visible thing on chilly winter days where it descended from its frozen home and strafed the skies. It was the uncrowned king of the mountain and one-third of the trifecta that asserted hegemony over Sophian island. Of the three, the Red Terror was widely considered the most powerful, but the other two weren't to be taken lightly. It was their power, combined with the small size of the Oblivian Island that prevented the League from sending any elite trainers to remove them. These three pokemon had already lived on the island for decades, the second darkest day had merely provided them with the opportunity to officialize their dominance. It wasn't that the league didn't have the power to remove them, but rather that it wasn't worth the effort. An effort had been made before to place Oblivia under more...human hegemony. A few years prior the League had dispatched a Champion-tier trainer to 'liberate' one of the islands. After an hour the operation was called off; a mountain had been erased in the cataclysmic battle and it was concluded that defeating the Pokemon, though possible, would also sink the island in the process.

While she had never seen it for herself, she'd heard that even before their boost, some Pokemon could erase mountains and cities. After the second darkest day, their destructive power had only increased. The big boss of the Silver Falls was a water-type who boasted powerful attacks and even more powerful defenses. It's wrath could cause rivers to flood and the skies to darken with clouds; it was every bit the equal of the red terror. The last ruler—the Queen of the Forest—was the weakest of the trio, but what she lacked in power she supplemented with numbers. The Queen was the 'friendliest' of the three, owing to her vast territories. She controlled the largest and most fertile swathe of the island despite being the weakest. The human settlement of Aqua Resort fell within her realms, peacefully tolerated...for now. As long as they didn't stray too deeply into the forest, they were ignored. The only exception to this rule was—"Speak of the devil..."

Meletē paused and perked up, a wide grin brightened her face as her rumination was interrupted by the arrival of that very exception. She heard them before she saw them; the thunder of a thousand wingbeats, then the shadow of the swarm cresting over the horizon. There was only one reason a swarm of Pokemon that large would be headed for Aqua Resort. Meletē raced to the stairs—no, wait. She backtracked to her bed and grabbed trainer card, then she raced to the stairs, bounding down two at a time. She stepped wide to avoid smashing into the dinner table like she had earlier—her mother would have her head once she discovered the shattered glasses Meletē has hastily swept into the trash; and burst through the back door.

She looked up at the sky, where the thunderous flapping was now a deafening buzzing, to see a writhing yellow cloud: Combee, Cutiefly, and Beedrill all whirled around in an excited frenzy. The sight of tens of bee-type Pokémon swarming in the air was always a spectacle no matter how many times Meletē saw it. It's beauty and unquestionable majesty caused her heart to race, beating into her throat where she couldn't help but—"HYYYIIIIIIIIIIII!!!". Meletē squealed and screamed; but she was drowned out by the swarm. In the center of the hive was a massive Pokémon far larger than the rest—a Vespiquen who dwarfed Meletē and the man clinging to its back. While the queen bee Pokemon hovered near the second-story window, the man on its back took the opportunity to hop off. Effortlessly, man nailed his two-story drop.

Renewed screams erupted from behind Meletē, so near and so loud that they peaked above the buzzing hive. The girl hadn't been the only one to arrive in-time to catch the man's arrival. A small welcoming party had formed in her backyard, predominantly female and responsible for the screams that threatened to blow out Meletē's eardrums. The man smiled and waved, soaking in the attention for just a few moments before the swarm—both pokemon and human—revolved around him before they dispersed. Meletē rolled her eyes—what a gaggle of goofs. She sneered at the girls as they left despite having been among their number moments ago.

After she'd had her fill, she turned her stink-eye on the newly arrived man.

She had to admit, the increase in fortitude that came from being a high-rank trainer had done him well. It didn't hurt that he also knew how to sell an entrance: his Vespiquen hovered behind him, releasing a gentle『Pressure』that she knew was the real reason for her palpitations and his vibrant red hair, wind-whipped and disheveled, lent him a degree of roguish charm. She might've been fooled by his performance—if she hadn't been his sister and could see beyond the theatrics.

She stood with arms akimbo, finding words for her brother.

"What do you always have to be so...so..."

"So cool?", he offered, unhelpfully.

"No...so..."

"So awesome?"

"Nooo...so...."

"So rakishly handsome?", he supplied, smirking.

"Wha—EWW, NO! You're so full of shit!"

Irritated, she gave him a shove and he stumbled forward, laughing.

"Now now Essy, that's no way for a lady to conduct herself."

"Ooh chuck off."

"I'm glad to see you too Essy," "missed me?"

"No." In spite of her words, Meletē soon had her brother in a familiar embrace.

"Still goth, huh?" his voice came as a rueful murmur, and Meletē could feel idle fingers passing through her hair.

"Mmn..."

"Essy...he wouldn't have wanted this."

She winced at that and disengaged, "I'm not hung up on it I-...I just...don't want to forget. I can't visit his grave like you can."

"I can take you there, it's not too deep into the forest."

"No...I-...I want to get there by myself. I even got by trainer card now."

Meletē presented the shiny proof of her new identity with a lackluster smile.

"Anyway," she shifted gears, "what happened with the Queen?"

Her brother gave her a hard stare and the weight of his gaze nearly had her buckling at the knees. Fortunately, he seemed content to let the matter rest.

"Well...we'll talk when Mom and Dad get back. They aren't going to like this one bit."

"Mmnn."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The summer sun beat down on Sophian island. It was just past midday, and most families were inside trying to beat the heat.
Meletē sat down for lunch with her family of five. The room bubbled with an uncanny mixture of subdued elation and tension piled higher than her brother's 15 ft Centiskorch. It was always like this when her brother returned home after his journeys; and it would probably be like this in the future when she returned. After several minutes had passed, they all grew tired of pretending to eat their food and, ever the pioneer, her elder brother broke the ice.
"So...Essy got her trainer card today,"
Meletē stiffened as all eyes turned on her and she squirmed uncomfortably in her seat. It wasn't the attention so much as it was the expression of pale-faced terror that her mother adopted.
"You too...Esther?"
Meletē—nay, Esther—wilted. The room expanded as she shrunk in her chair. The grief that colored her mother's trembling voice made her want to give up right there and then; to toss her trainer card into the furnace and just withdraw from the Bronze League. It would've been all-too easy to crumble beneath the circumstances, but a single look at her brother and his reassuring smile was enough to dash that sentiment from her mind. She took deep breaths and choked out her next words with as much resolve as she could muster.
"Yes, I want to become a trainer too."
"Me three!"
All eyes snapped to 14-year-old Parisa, who had stopped playing with her spaghetti to indicate her own stance. She was still too young to go on her own Bronze Rank, but it was only a matter of time.
Their mother looked ready to faint.
"nononoNONONO!" her mutters turned to shouts, "Absolutely not! I can't lose all three of you!"
"We'll be fi—"
"Don't lie to me!" She jumped to her feet, hands slamming against the table. Glassware fell and shattered against the ground, but no one paid it any mind. "You could die out there, my babies..."
Tears welled in their mother's eyes and the three children were at a loss in the face of such heartfelt anguish.
"Grandpa would've let us..."
No one knew who'd said it, but their mother snapped around—like she'd just been struck by Sucker Punch—searching for the source. Her mouth opened and closed, open and closed; but there was nothing to be said. With no more words, all that was left were tears. She buried her face into their father's chest and quietly wept. The grim-faced man hadn't spoken a single word throughout the exchange, but now he held his gaze on his children one...by one...by one...
"It's not that we aren't proud of you and what you're trying to do...", he started, hands occupied with his inconsolable wife.
"But?"
"But we're...worried." "Trainers are a lot of risk-takers and adventurers, they can end up as great people, but they can also end up..."
He didn't finish as his wife's sobs intensified.
"But...someone has to do it."
That caught their mother's attention and she leaped back up; tear stricken.
"But that someone doesn't have to be you—it doesn't have to be my kids!"
No one had a rebuttal for that.
Their father sighed.
"Shayan always makes it back home, doesn't he?"
The eldest of the three siblings had just finished the silver league, certifying him as a cool and capable Gold-Rank Trainer. It was the highest anyone in their family had ever risen; but that wasn't saying much since their parents had never advanced beyond Bronze. Although their parents both possessed Pokemon, her Father's Leavanny and her Mother's Ribombee unlike her brother's Pokemon, were not battlers; they were career Pokemon.
The relationship between their couple and their eldest son was somewhat strained by his career choice as their mother was deathly afraid that one day, she'd receive a visit from a League Official bearing a small plaque and a badge of honor, the standard tokens given to the family of any trainer who died in the line of service. As if somehow, the prestigious awards could replace her child.
The children knew their mother had already lost their grandfather to the dangers of Pokemon, and she was keen on not losing any of them.
"SHAAAAAA!!"
Everyone startled as, with a flash of red lightning, the room grew cramped with the addition of her brother's girthy Armaldo. The Fossil-bug Pokemon was a contender for the strongest Pokemon on her brother's team and it brandished its wicked claws and rugged plate armor with practiced finesse. In a display of power, a single swing cleaved the table into clean halves.
Esther could hear her brother face-palm as the armored bug released resounding screeches. It wasn't long before her brother translated the intelligible screeches with a small chuckle.
"He said not to worry, mom. Nothing dangerous can get past his claws and scales."
"Pokemon can be dangerous," their dad edged in, "but they can also be our greatest defenders.
"Have I ever told you about how I met your mother? We had got trapped in a cave-in and awaited rescue for nearly a week. We survived entirely off the honey and berries scavenged by our Pokémon. We were engaged a few months after we go out. Best catastrophe of my life!"
Esther gawked at her father, who laughed heartily. "Weird flex, but okay."
Either way, the siblings were knavish little opportunists, and they knew how to take their chances.
"We'll be fine," Shayan reaffirmed. "I'll look after Essy, and Issy too, when her time comes."
Esther wasn't sure whether her mother had been convinced by the display of power or was just shell-shocked from the loss of her dinner table; but this time, her brother wasn't cut off.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Late into the day, the family had returned to some level of calm. Their mother was uncharacteristically silent and seemed to, if not support it, passively accept her children's decisions. Esther wasn't really sure, but no one was going to poke that Beedrill's nest. Instead, they scattered across living room discussing the Bronze League which was to begin new week on the first of July.

Her brother started, "So what pokemon did you chose as your starter?"

And her father followed. "A bug-type?" It was something of an unspoken tradition in the family.

"Wurmple?" Issy sneaked in, "Beautifly are really strong." Esther raised an eyebrow as her little sister showed interest in something other than the latest fashion—"and they're really pretty!"—ahh, the real reason emerged.

"I think Dustox or Venomoth would be more fitting." Esther nodded in agreement, Shayan had always had a good grasp on her tastes. He always gave her the best presents. Although she'd already picked her Pokémon, it couldn't hurt to listen to his advice for future members of her team. "On top of being bulkier and more survivable I'm pretty sure they're both poison-type—just like her."

"Oh fu—"

"Esther," she swallowed the rest of her words as mother warned, staring daggers across the room at her snickering brother.

"I think she's more of a dark—" Esther's venomous gaze dissuaded her father from finishing that sentence.

"Well, Essy, what did you end up choosing?"

She gave her brother one last dirty look before responding.

"I went with a dragon-type—Jangmo-o."

Shayan deflated with disappointment, "Why not a bug?"

"I needed something strong."

"Bugs are strong."

"..." Esther gave him a flat stare. Bug types were notoriously weak and the stronger ones like Heracross and Pinsir weren't allowed as Bronze-rank starters.

"Bugs can be strong..."

"..."

"You could have gone for a Volcarona."

"Volcarona...? What's that?" Issy raised her voice curiously at the name-drop of a bug Pokémon none of them had ever heard of.

"Volcarona is a bug-type native to Unova, where the last Bronze League was held. It's incredibly hard to raise but no less powerful than a dragon."

Shayan flipped open his rotom phone and on its screen, Esther could see one of the most beautiful bug-types she'd ever laid eyes on. It was a seraphic being, cloaked in flames and majesty.

"Ohhh, I want it!" While Esther might've still been a bit uncertain, her sister was sold. "Please please please please please please PLEASE. I need my starter to be a Volcarona like that one!"

"Mmmn, they're pretty rare. But if Essy and I start looking I'm sure we can find one in time for your bronze rank journey."

Esther covered her ears as Parisa's squeals threatened to shatter glass. Her brother likewise winced.

"When does your Pokémon arrive?"

"I don't know."

"It might take a while since Oblivia doesn't have any Pokemon Centers or—"

Ding Ding! Everyone turned to face the door.

"Excuse me!" A voice bellowed from outside, "a package for Miss Esther Rosana Sophys."

Esther was at the door in no-time flat and swung it open to reveal a league-certified delivering man, the second to visit. In his hand he held a small transparent box, within which she could clearly see the iconic red-white of a Pokéball, minimized to its dormant state. Esther's snatched the package from the man's hand and raced into the house. She could hear the delivery man yell something, but she didn't care—can't stop, won't stop.

Excitement boiled her blood. Her hands were already ripping at the packaging while she climbed the stairs-cum-ladder that led to the attic where she and her sister shared a bedroom.

She held the Pokeball gingerly in hand; it was the second heaviest thing she'd ever held. The heaviest had been her grandfather's casket as they lowered him into Oblivion. She originally wasn't going to be a pallbearer, but Insistence from Esther and the lack of manpower caused her father to relent. It was there, in the depths of the Sophian Forest, and under the purview of a few rangers, that her grandfather had been laid to rest. Esther, Shayan and their father had seen the whole thing through from start to finish, cementing fate with their own hands.

At the time it had been the sixth of them—Esther's grandmother had still been alive then. The family made the trek back, circling her grandmother as if someway, somehow by doing so they could protect her any better than the rangers that accompanied them. Though they all knew death was an inevitability and that eventually, her grandmother would succumb to the passage of time, in that moment, they all did their very best to deny any such plausibility.

It was at that moment—so many years ago—that the children of the Sophys family had truly embarked on the path of trainers. In a morbid way, they were fortunate that their grandfather had been the only casualty within the family on that second darkest day. He had be a spry old man, more active than the three of them combined despite his elderly age. He had loved Pokémon more than anyone else and they fondly remembered his desire to see them grow up with Pokemon of their own. They had buried him within the forest because it had been his wish, to be entombed beneath the tree where he'd met his first Pokémon as a child. They were all buried there, both her grandparents and their Pokémon who had succumbed even before them. That tree and the graves beneath it were a symbol of companionship to Esther and her siblings, companionship between family—both human and Pokémon—even unto death.

And so the time had come for her to find her own companion, one that would be with her until the end of time and the time of the end. She had read that legends past hailed Kommo-o as a hero who fought darkness and ushered in light. She didn't know where the legend came from nor what had happened to give the Scaly Pokémon such a reputation, but she didn't think it matter. Just like the dragon of legends, so too she hoped her Pokémon would become her hero and driving away her darkness—nay, the darkness covering all of Oblivia; because it wasn't enough for Esther to just have her own Pokemon. She wanted to fulfill her grandfather's dreams on a scale he could never have imagined.

She lay a tender kiss on the Pokéball and the Synchronization Bond initiated. The object that should've been cold and sterile felt warm and impassioned against her lips. The Pokéball expanded as it activated, and Esther pulled it back. It was still no larger than her palm, yet it was laden with the weight of dreams and ambition. So small, so beautiful, so...hungry. Esther paled as her energy was rapidly drained; it felt like the breath of her very life was being sucked out. She'd heard of soul-stealing kisses, but she had never imagined they'd feel like this. Nevertheless, Esther held nothing back. She poured every last ounce of energy into the the nascent bond and the Pokémon inside swallowed every drop.

The weight of its hunger was like a stone sitting against her chest. Her lungs screamed for air, but she could only manage asthmatic gasps and wheezes. A small eternity passed in what was actually a few seconds and the ability to breathe returned to Esther in full force. She inhaled—HARD, choking on a breath of fresh air.

The desire to meet her partner had fled ages ago and in its place was the desire to puke her guts out. Esther jumped from her bed—a little too quickly—and nearly woozied right out the window. Righting herself against the wall, she dragged herself to the bathroom. She had just enough time to flip over the toilet-seat before she slumped against the rim. The retching started immediately; turning the bowl a color unlike any she had ever seen or ever wanted to see again. By the time that she'd finished evacuating her stomach, she was so dizzy that walking was impossible. Without any other options, she rested against the bowl—just in case she needed it again. Luckily her mother was as germaphobic as her Ribombee, and between the two of them the house was kept spick and span and funky fresh.

It was ten-grueling minutes before Esther could bring herself to stand. While she was still a bit lightheaded, she could at least manage getting back to her bed. When she returned to her bed, the Pokéball was waiting: its glossy surface smudged by the dark stain of her lipstick. She reached out, not with her body, but with her senses, feeling for the cabalistic connection between Pokemon and trainer. The sensation of being connected to someone else was unmistakable; a subtle presence next to her heart, a well-spring of muted thoughts and emotions. It was not at all the flurry of telepathic communion that Esther imaged it would be and she wondered if she had somehow screwed up the bond. After a moment of consternation and experimental prods into the bond, she figured it out; there was nothing wrong with the bond, Jangmo-o was just asleep. That and she probably should've taken it out of its Pokeball first. While she'd heard trainers could communicate with their Pokémon while they were within their Pokéballs, the practice was evidently easier said than done.

Without further ado, and with anticipation once-more building in her chest, Esther walked over and trigger the Pokéball.

"Rise and shine, darling."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jangmo-o stretched: her muscles strained and pulled. She trembled with bliss and her happiness made itself known in a smooth, purring rattle. The sound grew louder as—like a crescendo of scaly maracas—she shook to the tips of her extremities. Once her stretch had reached its limits, she contracted: muscles squeezing and tightening. The ground beneath was soft and her claws found purchase—too more of it—they sunk right in without a hint of resistance—Riiip!
Curiously Jangmo-o lifted a scaley paw, inspected the fluffy white innards that spooled between her claws and the...'bed'? Words bubbled up from her subconscious, thoughts that weren't hers being filtered for information and understanding. She knew this was a 'bed' and it was covered by 'sheets', those were 'pillows' and that was a 'mirror', the small sun in the sky—no, the 'ceiling'—was a 'lightbulb'. It was all very strange to Jangmo-o, she somehow knew what these items were without ever having seen them before but at the same time she didn't really know what they were. She could attach labels to them and had some vague idea about their function, but anything more overwhelmed and eluded her. Although slightly annoyed by the many new things she didn't understand, Jangmo-o felt a subtle sense of possession—of ownership; thus, these were her new realms, she concluded. She found the accommodations acceptable, they were, at the very least, better than the rocky outcropping where she'd hatched a few weeks ago. There was only one thing missing, the markings of occupation.
Casually, Jangmo-o lifted her hind leg and felt a sense of confusion and then panic stirring from parts unknown. Jangmo-o ignored them—"Wai—what are you...? NO, STOP!"—mine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Esther dumped her sheets into the washing machine and set the load on Super Heavy. This wasn't at all how things were supposed to go. She trudged back to her room to face the scaly little pissant. The little Jangmo-o pranced around, an unmistakable swagger in her step. Despite Esther's earlier rebukes, the little dragon was merely confused as to why Esther would stop her from marking her territory but she was not at all remorseful. In fact, Jangmo-o was all too caught up in exploring every nook and cranny of Esther's room. The most the girl could hope for is that it wouldn't try to 'claim' anything else in her room.

"Chirp!"

"Mmmn?"

"Chii!"

"Uhh, this guy? That's Wallace."

While the bond was still hard to navigate, Esther found she was quickly getting the hang of it. While Jangmo-o's vocalizations were are intelligible as ever, the trainer was beginning to pick up on the emotions and intentions behind each action. Right now it was curiosity and...bellicosity?

"You want to fight Wallace?"

Esther eyed the poster plastered over her closet which depicted one of the acting champions of the Hoenn Region, Wallace; the flamboyant grand-master water-specialist was a double threat a top-battler and top-coordinator. The man frequented the front page of Poké-Chic Magazine as a model for the designs of world-famous stylists—Parisa had a growing obsession with the man and Esther imagined it was her first celebrity crush. The poster of the man posing with his Swampert had caught the attention of the cocky dragon.

"Mmnnn...Ah, that's right. I haven't given you a name yet! How about it this, after I give you a name we'll look for a battle?"

"Chirp!"

"Then it's a deal."

"Scree!"

"Wha-? I'll have you know I'm excellent at choosing names."

"Chree!"

"Fine, fine...how about...Rosenthal?

"Scree!"

"No? Then...Edelweiss?

"Scree!"

"Too pretty? Why does that even—forget it. Draksyn?

"Scree!"

"Pyrrha?"

"chirp..!"

"What do you mean you'll settle for that? Listen here you little pi—"

KNOCK KNOCK

Esther's eyes darted to the door.

"Esther, we need to talk."

It was her brother. Her brow creased; he never used her name. It seemed rather serious.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Esther lay awake deep into the night as her thoughts ran over her brother's words. The Queen of the Forest was a Vespiquen who ruled over a super-colony of Combee, Cutiefly, Weedle and their evolutions. Shayan's own Vespiquen was one of the Queen's off-spring and that allowed him some leeway to communicate with the forest hegemon. The news he brought this time was grim. The super-colony was growing far too large to be sustained by fairly small island of Sophia. It would only be a matter of months, a year at best, before they moved onto greener pastures. And without the Queen's protection...well, that would be it for Aqua Resort.
There would little Esther could do to help the situation except hope for the best, so her mind turned to more manageable thing: the Bronze League would be held in the Sinnoh region—could've seen that one coming from a mile away. Esther shelved her own opinions on the mountainous region in favor of planning her journey there. Her plan was simple. She needed to get her brother to fly her over to nearby Almia and from there, she could take a boat to the Fight Zone. It was a strange name for a location and was also a bit out of the way on an island separated from the Sinnoh mainland. Esther heard that to inspire the new bronze-ranked trainers, the elites of Sinnoh held televised exhibition matches in stadiums across the regions, one of the most prominent of which was in the battle zone. While Esther wasn't familiar with the Gym Leaders or Elite 4 of Sinnoh, she'd heard about their champion and had even seen her battle on TV. It would be an unforgettable experience to see a Champion-tier trainer battle in person; but, admittedly, The chances of the Champion herself hosting the exhibition match were next to nothing. The real reason Esther was adamant on going to the battle-zone was so that she could catch her second Pokémon.
Along with a list of entry points into the region, the League had also shared the locations of a number of Pokémon-swarm sightings. The one Esther had her eye on was, of course, the bug-type with its orange-brown carapace, stubby little legs and cute beady eyes—Trapinch. The reason why Pokémon formed hordes wasn't widely understood but theories suggested they did it to travel from location to location where their large numbers would help protect them predators. Whatever the real reason, swarms or hordes offered the greatest chances of catching a powerful Pokémon of a particular species; however, as quickly as they formed, they would also disperse and most swarms lasted no longer than a week. If she wanted to catch a Trapinch, she would need to be quick about it.
Esther drifted off to thoughts of her undecided future: her Pokémon, her path as a trainer, the fate of her home...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Days passed as aspiring trainers around the world prepared for the perilous journey ahead. As the dates flipped over and the heat of July came round the corner, many would set off with a fire in their hearts. Many would set off but fewer would move onto become certified Silver rank trainers; fewer still would never see the end of their journey, perishing along the path laid before them...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
July 1, Fight Zone Harbor
Esther leaned against the ship's railings as it pulled into port. She took a deep draft of air—salty and harsh—before she returned to her cabin to prepare. Anxiety filled her breast as she knew, the moment she stepped off this ship she would truly be in a completely foreign land and entirely responsible for herself. There would be powerful rivals and perilous terrain that lay ahead of her and while she had gotten the basics of battling down after sparring with her brother, she knew there was still much she didn't know.
'It doesn't matter, I'll always win.'
She rolled her eyes and giggled at Pyrrha's imperious declaration. The little dragon type had been born without fear and didn't know the meaning of the word 'limitations'. The endless confidence she felt emanating through the bond was comforting, even though she knew it was misplaced. They had been completely thrashed by her brother although he was using a newly hatched Yanma, but Pyrrha had excused it as the gulf in experience between Bronze and Gold. The little dragon couldn't even imagine the possibility of losing to anyone on their tier.
"Yea, of course you will—Mnn, we will."
It turns out introducing Flex to the family went well.
Ivory was actually rather relived with such a positive reception with a family and city famous for Flying and occasionally Bug types, especially since her little Wood Gecko was...well....y'know. A grass type. Literally, her brother had a Tailow and her mother had an Altaria for Fortree's sake. Speaking of, said dual type had chirped loudly whilst getting some harnesses strapped on by her mother, who was calling out to Ivory.
"Okay Ive, we're headed out to Sinnoh shortly and Mocha here can manage to about Sunyshore and back, is that okay?"
"Yeah, that works. I've always liked port towns."
While talking, Ivory noticed that Flex had scrambled up to her shoulders and let out some little squeaks, pointing to her bag and causing her to gasp. Walking over to it and strapping it on her back, she patted the Treecko's head gratefully and earning some soft purrs.
"Whew, thanks for that bud! I can't imagine heading all the way to Sinnoh without all this gear."
"Trai-ceko! (Oh, it's nothing!)"
Neither of the two could believe how lucky this had been already, but that made the moment even sweeter then before. Before much could happen, another chirp from her mother's trusted Altaria, and Ivory knew it was time for this amazing journey to begin. She grabbed a photograph of a well known Contest star in her area, held it up to her chest, and placed it back down gently before leaving her room.
"OK, OK mom, I'm coming. Bronze League, here I, uh, WE come."
June 30th, on the road to Olivine city.
Nothing to see here, move along.
"Wow it's so cute!" Ron's sister screamed across the video call while looking at the live stream of Furia. "I can't believe you got a fire type!"
Ron chuckled, trying not to show how much he loved making his little sister smile. He was on the bus towards Olivine City, where he would take a boat to Sinnoh. However he had only managed to get the last bus, do to falling asleep in the waiting lounge. The sun on the horizon was already settling as they traveled through Route 39. He petted Furia's warm head, trying to keep her calm so she wouldn't wake up to his sister's loud screaming.
"Keep it down Maker, you're going to wake her up." Ron whispered as he moved the phone up so she could see his face. "Where's the other you?"
Maker's blue eyes got bigger as she moved the camera closer to her face. "Sleeping, let me see Flora!"
"Furia."
"Flora was a much better name."
"Flora sounds like a grass type."
"No it doesn't!"
"Keep it down or I'm hanging up on you."
"Okay, ok, sheesh, you're so mean sometimes."
"Well if she gets annoyed, I get annoyed."
"Whatever, where is the League going to be? Please let it be Kalos so you can visit me!"
Ron frowned a bit, he knew he was about to disappoint her. Even if it had been Kalos, he was not going to go home, not until he was strong enough to prove to his father that he was a capable man on his own.
"It's Sinnoh." He looked ready to receive his sister's angry attitude, since she had a long history of exploding.
"Ugh, really? Wait, I never been to Sinnoh! You have to call, every time you see a fire Pokemon or one that is strong against fire or one that is weak against fire or when you visit a new city, or town, OH! and if you see someone famous, make sure to get them an autograph for me and if their nerds, for Azumi. Oh! and show me when Furia eats, sleeps, battles and plays. Oh! and also make sure to take lots of pictures..."
Ron kept nodding while his sister rant on about everything she needed him to do. While growing up, out of the three, she was the most excited about becoming a Pokemon trainer. She was a big fan of Flint and she had decided to raise only fire type Pokemon, something everyone thought was just a decision based on the heat of the moment, but ever since that day her decision was well set. If she ever picked up a book, it was to learn about fire type Pokemon.
"Hey are you listening?!" Maker's loud voice was heard by everyone aboard the bus.
Furia slowly raised her head and Ron could clearly feel how annoyed she felt being woken up from her nap. He quickly petted her and let her know he was talking to his sister. Once again Ron lowered the phone so Maker could see the Cyndaquil a bit more active than before. Maker's squeal of joy made Ron chuckle once more while Furia's pride raised well over her head. The punk teenager let Maker keep talking while looking at Furia. He looked out the window and could see the first few buildings of Olivine, far into the port city the Lighthouse stood tall and it's light searching the sea.
"Maker I need to go, bout to get off and get the last boat to Sinnoh." Ron waved at his sister through the camera.
"Aw I wanted to follow your trip! Just ten more minutes!"
Ron smiled and shook his head. "Maybe next time, bye!"
He ended the call, imagining his sister kicking and screaming out of anger for being hang up on, but if didn't stop her now, he wouldn't be able to later. Plus, he imagined his sister Azumi not being able to sleep with all the ruckus going on. He put away his phone, strapped his backpack on and returned Furia to her Pokeball. The entire day had taken a toll on Ron's stamina as he yawned loudly while getting off the bus and heading down to the ports. There were already a group of trainers gathered there, probably heading to the same place as he was.
The Bronze League was just the beginning but for a lot if could also be the ending. Out of all the trainers gathered at the docks that night, about one percent would be making it to the conference at the end of the League. Some had already formed their teams, probably childhood friends or people they met online. So far, Ron just knew he was to meet up with that Hilda girl, probably she had two more teammates and have to save them the hustle of looking for more. For now, he just needed to wait patiently until he arrived at his destination.
July 1st, Battle Zone.
Ron stretched his arms into the sky as he walked off the boat and on to the docks of the Battle Zone. The trainers swarming around him as they circled around trying to get to wherever they were going quickly. Ron's Pokeball opened out and let out the fire mouse Pokemon, who yawned and let out a small cry along with it. The two walked carelessly towards the town that was home to some amazing battles and the famous Battle Frontier. Ron was to busy focused on the road ahead of them that he didn't notice the funny looking old man running to catch up to him.
"Hold your Mudsdales youngling!" The old man blocked Ron's path. "You young ones need a strong water Pokemon if yer to survive this place and MY OH MY have I got a deal for you!"
"Beat it old man." Ron sneered and pushed past him while the old man ran over to another trainer.
Ron and Furia walked along the sides of the road, since there were a lot of people running about recklessly and trying to rush everywhere. His focus however was to first reach the Pokemon Center, if he learned anything from his father, it was to never keep a lady waiting. Also, his mother would scold him if she find out. "What if it had been your sister?" Was always the winning argument. A smile spread across his face as he though about his family. The happy thought transferring to Furia, the small Cyndaquil walking next to him and taking in all the new stuff she was looking at.
"Here we are." Ron announced as they stopped outside the Pokemon Center. "This is where we are supposed to wait for this Hilda girl." He checked his Rotom Phone to make sure he could recognize her face.
Furia plumped down next to Ron and kept looking around at the different people and Pokemon. She noticed a group of trainers making fun of another who was throwing up with the excuse he had decided to keep his Pokemon in its Pokeball until their journey began. Across the street was a small plaza where a man had a small stand selling some sort of smoothies and a Tropius was standing guard and helping out with its vine whip. Furia sniffed the air and smelled one of the sweetest aromas she had ever smelled, so good it made her mouth water.
Ron laughed and looked down at his Pokemon. "We'll get you some chocolate after we meet up with this girl okay?"
Previously Swirled
Robert's eyes creeped open as he slowly rose from his bed, feeling somewhat delirious due to sleeping outside of his schedule. The new trainer was able to find some comfort in knowing that Floru felt the same way as he did, though that may be due to the unfamiliarity of it all. Once he crawled out of bed, Rob saw his phone laid out on his desk out the corner of his eye. He approached it and decided to call Patricia since her hours at the department store were over, intending to tell her that he finally got his first Pokémon.
Really hopes she picks up this time...I could just text her but what'd be the point at that rate?
"Hey Robby, what's up?" Fortunately, she managed to pick up on the first call, though Robert wasn't necessarily that happy about her greeting.
"Come on Trish, you know how I feel about being called Robby," Although he gave an audible groan, it was clear that he was happy to hear from her, "It's not like I'm out here calling you Patty or something."
"You know, I wouldn't mind being called Patty."
"Really?"
"Yeah, it's just not that serious to me. At any rate, you still never answered my question, what's the reason for the call?"
"Can't a guy just call a friend just to talk?"
"Not when that guy is you. If you just wanted to talk, you'd text me or come over. So, what's the big deal?"
"Well if you must know...I finally got my first Pokémon today."
"Nice. Which one did you get?"
"I got a Bulbasaur and I named him Floru. Lemme get him to say hello." Robert went to bring the Grass type over, but the Seed Pokémon was already on his way towards his trainer. Giving a little shrug, Rob held the speaker of his phone close to his partner, allowing the young Bulbasaur to give a little cry.
"Aww, he's adorable! You better take care of him."
"Don't worry, I plan on it."
"So...you're really going to do it. Become a trainer, I mean." There was a brief period of silence after Robert made his intentions of protection clear, but Patricia decided to start a new conversation.
"Looks like it."
"If you don't mind me asking, why? Being a trainer is dangerous, and it always struck me as more work than it's worth."
"You're right about the danger it possesses, but I dunno, I've been enamored by the idea of being a breeder for as long as I could remember. If that means I have to be a trainer, then so be it. I'd rather die doing something I love then live doing something I can barely tolerate."
"...I see. Well, I just hope you don't get yourself killed out there. Good luck on your journey." After that, Trish had hung up. Robert was left unsure of what to do for a moment. He decided to open up the computer to check on the forum he was messaging on. He smiled a bit upon discovering that the Bronze League would be held in the region that he selected: Sinnoh.
Well, I guess I better get going...
Ezio chuckled as he read Guy's reply. Seems that this person was quite well-versed in the world of history, seemingly a rarity these days.
Sure did, and her husband is called Hawes. It's a bit rude to call him a string bean with a weird hairline, but you're not really wrong. I don't really 'work' for her, it is more of a hobby to me. Sure, I get paid and all, but it feels more like an internship to me. Funny that you bring up Elgyem, as we still struggle to discover where it came from. All we know is that they appeared 50 years ago deep in the desert, though rumors circulate that they are related to an UFO crash. There's no evidence for it though, so take it with a grain of salt.
I don't know, I've never been in Sinnoh. Colleagues of Lenora gave us a list of materials found in samples and they are the same as the samples we took from our meteorite. I doubt that there's a connection though, as meteorites are usually made out of ice and junk. You're bound to have similar materials that way.
I've been to Relic Castle once before and it was an impressive sight. You can basically feel the ancient history you're surrounded with, it is a must-visit for anyone interested in mythology. You'd need a decently strong stomach though, as the Yamask there were once human. If you ever arrive in Unova and visit Nacrene City, just ask for Ezio. I'd be more than willing to tell you more in person.
As the boy posted the reply, he read that the Bronze League would take place in Sinnoh. "Well speak of the devil, Sinnoh it is then." Logging out and shutting down the computer, the boy walked back to the Nacrene Gym to say his goodbyes in person.
---------------
"So this is it, huh?" Ezio's dad asked, forcing his voice to not crack. His only child would be all alone in the big bad world, and even though he knew that this day would eventually come, it still stung. "You never were the type to stay put in one place your entire life, but stay safe out there."
"Come on dad, I'm not alone. I've got Edelhard by my side." Ezio released the Silicobra, who was rudely awoken and wanted to know what was going on. As the ground type reared up, both Hawes and Ezio's father took a step back. It was a foreign Pokémon and it was hard to not be careful around a 7 foot serpent with a hood to appear more intimidating, even if it only was a baby. Lenora meanwhile was not quite as intimidated, standing her ground as the Silicobra lowered its head again and slithered over to Ezio before curling up into a pile next to his leg.
"Seems you've already gotten a decent bond going on with your Pokémon, though I can't say that I'm surprised. Your dad and I have been so generous to pack your bags already. The supplies in it should get you all the way to Silver League, if not higher. Who knows? You might even reach Master tier and follow in my footsteps!" Lenora chucked as Ezio rubbed his arm. He hated long drawn-out goodbyes, they made him feel awkward.
"Oh, don't pull that face. You're not gone forever and Sinnoh's not half bad. I've worked together with Byron and his son Roark before, and they're kind people. Say hi to Cynthia if you see her, there's a good chance that you'll run into her eventually. You have your Xtransceiver with you, so we are always within reach if you need us."
The Silicobra lifted its head up and looked at Ezio, its expression resembling that of a sad old man. In spite of that, the boy didn't feel its sadness. Instead, he felt its excitement for the new adventure. "Thanks, everyone. I'll make sure to make you all proud."
"Just make it through week one, that's the toughest part. And stay alive, don't get in trouble. Your father's going to be one big batch of nerves the coming days, so be prepared for at least ten calls each day. We've got you a ticket for a ferry to Unova, it leaves from Castelia's Cruise Pier." Lenora handed Ezio a ticket after the boy had put his backpack on.
"What's in this thing? It is heavier than me!"
"The stuff you need to survive, or do you want to be bankrupt on hotels day one?"
"Not really, no. Alright Edelhard, you wanna hitch a ride?" Ezio attempted to pick Silicobra up, but was met with a lot of hissing and a quick bite in the arm. It was not a hard bite due to lack of teeth, but the message came across. "Alright, let's see how you do it." Extending a hand and letting the Pokémon take the lead, eventually the Sand Snake Pokémon was perched between Ezio's neck and the bag.
"Alright, time for me to go, I guess."
Sinnoh! Aurora's home! she was ecstatic she'd been to various places round her home region before to watch the various contests and visit her Grandparents from her fathers side in Veilstone city, but now she gets to explore the whole region.
All she needed was a team, she sat for hours scrolling through her phone looking through everyone, Aurora wasn't the most shy person in the world but she hated to message people first, she had tons of friends in Snow Point city but even them she hated to message first. She continued scrolling through, her Chikorita had become restless and nudged Aurora every now and then to try and get her attention but unfortunately Aurora was buried in her phone. Chikorita after a couple of tries left the room and went and joined Aurora's Grandmother in the living room.
Bingo! This one seemed perfect she typed out her respond and with all the courage in the world she hit send:
Hi there Avery! If you have space I'd love to join your team. I don't know much about the Pokécampers, but I grew up on the outskirts of Snowpoint City so I know how to rough in the wild! I'd also really recommend if you let me join we start in Snowpoint! We'd be at the very top of Sinnoh and can go anywhere from there! I hope to hear from you soon!
Aurora had let out a sigh of relief once she sent her message. Now that was over all that she needed to do was get ready for their arrival.
***
July 1st: Snowpoint city Pokémon centre
Money: 5000
Items: N/A
Aurora had been sat patiently waiting in the Pokémon centre waiting for the others to arrive, luckily for her they had agreed that Snowpoint city was a good starting point.
The night before she and her Grandmother had one last big feast together, and then Aurora was up early (earlier than she needed to be but excitement got the best of her). She got dressed packed her bags, said one final good bye to her Grandmother and dashed out the door.
Chikorita hadn't been able to contain her excitement either. She was constantly letting Aurora know how much she wanted to meet everyone.
Until then Aurora sat alone in the Pokémon centre scrolling through her phone.
Shiro prepared everything he was slowly packing himself and Karma was helping him as best as he can. In the end, it seemed that Shiro won't need to leave his home region of Sinnoh. Karma helped him to pack most important things and explained to him a lot about traveling, sleeping in a wild, finding food, battling and other useful things. He also told Shiro that he should try pokemon battling against other trainers and defeat leaders as he travel as it could greatly help him in a future.. And to never leave his goal, which was finding origin behind world changing and how it could be changed back.
Cubchoo helped with everything and after that boy went to pokemon center to get to simply plan his journey and where he should head first. Building was filled with various trainers and pokemons, and although it seemed almost stuffed with people. Shiro was lucky to find a table for himself and his clumsy Glacier.
They set themselfs down on a table and Shiro pointed at the map that was on the wall to Glacier.
"So? Where would you want to head first? I doubt that we could take on our citu Leader so we may as well try in another city as well as get stronger! We should also ask around of where the weird changes to pokemons started in our region and quickly climb in rank so we can reach places that are unallowed to us!"
" Cubbb.. Cubchoooo!" said Glacier to his trainer with happy sound of agreement.
"Aren't you excited as much as me?" asked Shiro with a grin. Their journey was about to begin soon.
The troll who went by the name of Matthew had gotten as large of an outburst as one might expect from someone who was casually insulting anyone who didn’t share his superior opinion. Many accounts had been quick to bash him and his beloved Kanto. Some even went as far as to block his account. Nonetheless, the keyboard warrior was swift to respond to those who did have the courage to shoot back at him.
Your mom obeys me Guy! The only vegetable you eat are the eggplants your mom shoves down your throat. Your dumbass can’t even even spell Arceus right either. Arceus should punish you for that and your disrespect of Kanto!
@ThAtGuY101
Lmfao I checked and this Robert kid blocked me over that! Who’s the baby now?! Soft kids like him shouldn’t be participating in this unless they want to appear as another League casualty for the news to milk. Then again, overrated Sinnoh is for *******, so no wonder he voted for it.
@sSoul
Okay cowgirl, you don’t even know how to spell howdy right. Ig you didn’t get much education living in some rundown ranch or something. At least you accept Unova is irrelevant. Kanto still the superior region tho.
@ThePlayfulFox
Not a moment after that last reply was posted, the results for the poll were revealed. Acer held back a chuckle before grinning once he saw the region they would be going to.
Rigged. It’s fucking rigged! I’ve been saying for years now that this damn league is corrupted from the inside. They know Kanto is the best region and they still let you mindless fools vote. Like ofc overrated Sinnoh would win smfh. I’m out you fuckers. See y’all in Silver once we’re in Kanto.
“Looks like we’re going to Sinnoh buddy.”
Acer petted the head of his Ralts after reading some of the reactions to the reveal, such as Hilda’s, who had continued taking shots at the troll. Hiding underneath its green hair were ruby colored eyes that looked up at him in response to his affectionate touch. Strangely, Acer could feel what the Pokémon was thinking. It was slightly amused by what it had read. He had heard about how deep the synchronization bond went, but it would take some time getting used to someone else’s thoughts in his head. Of course, since this would help increase their communication during battle, Acer was all for it. The first step in setting up their communication would be giving the Ralts a nickname.
“To be honest, I didn’t really think of a nickname beforehand. Do you care about what I call you?”
The Ralts appeared to ponder on the thought of a nickname briefly before making an indifferent chirp. It didn’t really seem to care.
“Alright. Well, uhhh, are you male or female? Don’t know what those are? Okay, look.”
Opening up two new tabs on his computer real quick, Acer looked up images of Gallade and Gardevoir to show the young Ralts. He didn’t really know how else to explain it to the Pokémon. Upon first glance, the species of Ralts appeared to be more on the feminine side. They kept up that feminine look all the way up to one of their final evolutions. Most Ralts, even the male ones, likely ended up evolving into Gardevoir. The embrace Pokémon looked especially feminine, so it was a bit strange to see a male Gardevoir. It probably felt weird for a male Gardevoir as well. Only male Kirlia could evolve into Gallade, so he figured his Ralts would be able to make the distinction after seeing the two evolutions. After going over the images of Gallade and Gardevoir, he waited for Ralts to tell him which gender it was.
‘Please be a male. Please be a male. Please be a male.’
Unfortunately, his hope was seemingly vanquished when the Ralts pointed at the Gardevoir. It was a female. Acer’s heart dropped as he could already see his life flashing before his eyes. Alyssa would never let him live this down and he could already see his mother glancing at him sideways. Anyone in public would probably judge him for having a Gardevoir too. He could already see the horrifying rumors spreading as he rose through the league ranks. At the very least, a female Gardevoir wasn’t as bad as the other option. There was something seriously wrong with people who had those thoughts and especially those who made those thoughts reality. Even his own Ralts was already snickering at his poor luck. However, Acer didn’t know the snickering was actually due to the Ralts having completely tricked him. It didn’t take long for the Ralts to reveal that it was messing with him. The Pokémon was actually a male and must’ve been able understand his fear through the mental link they shared.
“You troll! Whatever. Zola sounds like a cool name. You fine with that?”
The teen had come up with the name off the top of his head. He didn’t really have any reason for it besides the name sounding cool. The Ralts thought so too as it didn’t waste a second to give its approval. Acer shared a smile with his new partner as they looked at each other. The warm, fuzzy feeling building up inside of him must’ve been from the emotions he could sense from the bond.
“Alright then, Zola, my goal is to become one of the strongest in the League. Will you join me to help reach this goal of mine?”
Choosing to start this bond off right, Acer gave Zola the option to join him on his journey or not. A Pokémon could theoretically escape their pokeball whenever they liked and usually stayed with a trainer due to respect as well as a better living condition. Of course, most Pokémon also wanted to grow strong themselves and bonding with the trainer was one of the best ways to achieve that. It was usually a win-win scenario if both parties accepted each other. If the Pokémon decided not to join Acer, then he’d have to accept that. It was a bit nerve wracking to think about being rejected. Even more so than it was with a girl. Acer could only watch as the Pokémon took its sweet time to decide, probably purposely to worry him. After a few tense moments of waiting, he heard a soft voice in his head.
“Nah. We’ll become one of the strongest.”
Perhaps because Zola was a physic Pokémon, he already knew how to establish a telepathic link between his trainer and him. Hearing another voice inside his head was a surprise to Acer. He didn’t expect the little Ralts to sound so casual. It was unexpected, but not unwelcome. So far Acer was able to determine the Pokémon had a sense of humor and was pretty chill. Zola was almost a perfect partner for him, all things considered. His horrible luck didn’t seem that bad after all. Now that they were a team, it was time to get to work before traveling to Sinnoh.
“Alright bet. We’ll start training tomorrow!”
Guy got anoother message from Ezio. He looked to see what Ezio wrote;
Wait... You don't work for her but you get paid? Internships are temporary, but that still counts as working for her? I think... Either way... Sounds like fun! UFO, huh? What do you think? UFO or crash land like a meteor!
Ha! Don't tell me that! Otherwise I'm gonna have to take you up on your offer! I've heard of yamask! So scary! One of my friends said he saw one crying, and it looked at him, and that was about it... He ran and didn't have anything else to say about the encounter... So unusual...
Guy was enjoying the cool breeze, and was thinking about Unova when all of a sudden he got a very mean comment all of the sudden, "NooOOoOOoOOo! MY Feeeeelings! That hit me in the feels, Goju... So mean... Did I do something wrong? For what have I done to deserve such cruel treatment..." Guy's voice dropped and became rough and gravelly. Guy sat there contemplating his life thus far.
Guy would have responded but he decided against it since he assumed the boy was just some edgy teenager. Guy put his phone away and looked at Goju, "Where to next?" Guy said smiling.
Eventually Guy would have to slump out of his depression. He got up and headed towards the street, the bus station was just down the road, but Guy hadn't decided whether he would head down the road or get a bus ticket for fast transportation so some other part of Sinnoh. Guy grinned and began thinking out plans for his adventure. Goju sat on his head contemplating snack time. He took out his journal and began writing plans on paper, Goju looked down and watched the pen fly across the page. Guy slapped his journal shut before putting it away in his bag.
