Private/Closed RWBY: A New Story

As Vanyali was sent flying into the air, she tried to remember what Topaz had told her the previous night. "There's only one river, so meet me there. You'll be able to see it from the cliff we get launched from. If one of us gets to the larger pond-like portion of the river, then we'll wait there for each other." Were his words. "Alright, 'Yali, you can do this." She murmured. As she neared the trees, she removed her trenchcoat so she could move her scorpion tail around. She used her tail to grapple on to a branch, and she then landed on her feet on another. Upon making sure the branch would support her, she put her trenchcoat back on. "Alright, the river..." She murmured, leaping from tree to tree, in the direction she had seen the river at.

Evelyn was luanched forward. She let the wind brush against her face and closed her eyes. She opened them as she started to descend, a reflex making her draw her weapon. She through the dart into a thick branch and swung between a few trees before reaching the ground, "that was fun".

"Whoo hoo!" Yuuji cried getting the handle of this. He looked at the shy kid from earlier as he fell and they met eyes. "I guess we're partners," he shouted as he flew past. He hit the treetops, and landed through some branches, landing hard on the ground.

Topaz had reached the river, so he hopped off of the trees and hit the ground running. Looking around, he didn't see any Grimm... but he heard them. He kept running. Arriving at the pond-like portion of the river, he stuck one of his swords into the ground, coming to a full halt. The warrior transformed his blades into guns, wary of any potential Grimm attacks while he was waiting for his pal.

After finding the river, Vanyali dropped from the tree branches and followed the river to where the pond should've been. After a bit of walking - and a bit of Grimm slaying - she found the pond. There, she saw Topaz, guns ready. "Friendly, three o'clock." She called, as she lazily spun her glaive in her hand.

Landing lightly next to him, Xanadu murmured "Yeah. I suppose so... Just follow me. I know where I'm going." Before shooting to the right in his usual fashion, blades coming out halfway through to allow him to corkscrew up a tree, then glided to the next one. Suddenly remembering his partner, Xanadu slid back to him, and ejected his grappling hook, which he handed to Yuuji. "You might need that to get up and travel through the trees," he told him, then jumped back into the air, heading towards a small clearing he had spotted whilst flying after the ejection

For onlookers it would have been hard to tell exactly what had left the platform that Niko had been standing on. One moment the young man had been there and the next a ball of flame hurtled through the sky towards the forest. In actual fact what had happened was that the moment he left the ground Niko's vertigo had kicked in and he had begun yelling in fear, and in doing so involuntarily began breathing fire everywhere.

The flaming mess that was Niko crash landed deep within the Emerald forest like some sort of screaming meteor, demolishing the poor tree that had been unlucky enough to grow directly in his trajectory. Rising from the smouldering crater of burnt leaves and wooden splinters the young hunter brushed himself of and smiled. That hadn't been so bad and he hadn't handled it that poorly...well at least he would retell it that way. Still covered in ash and with a few leaves in his hair Niko turned to realise that he had practically crash landed on top of another student. Some girl with silver hair and oddly glassy eyes.

"Oh uh....hey there....sorry about all well, this." Niko chuckled, gesturing at the devastation all around him. It was only as he picked a burning leaf from his hair that a thought struck the boy. "Oh sweet, guess were partners now huh? Bet your feeling pretty blessed right about now."

Orchid looked to her side right as the explosion of some lad next to her landed. She listened to him chatter, already she was partnered with a literal hot shot, fan-fucking-tastic. "Yea, don't worry about the nearly crushing me, I heard you from a mile away. You didn't happen to see where the ruins were on your graceful descent, did you?" She cut straight to the chase, with a lad like him she could tell that beating around the bush wouldn't be an option.

Evelyn walked around. She crouched down and examined the plants. She smiled when she found a small sapling. The relaxed girl clearing away some debris and let more light at it, "grow little one".

Her ears picked up russling behind her and she leapt out of the way when a boarbatusk rolled toward her. She threw one of her darts and spun, using its speed to increase her swing. She pulled her weapon loose and through the grim into the underbrush. Her eyes scanning around as she was waiting for it.

Ryan flailed thought the air. "Whoa! Why do I never pay attention to things?" He remembered he was looking around when he was suddenly sent flying by the launch pad. "Oh well, I have to land." He said to himself. He pulled out 4 fire dust crystal from the holder on his waist and installed 2 in each Arm Blade. "That should do it." He said as he pointed his arms downward and extended the cannon holes then shot two jet of fire downwards slowing his fall. He slowly landed on the ground and retracted the cannons. "Alright I landed." He said to himself ad he started to move.

Evelyn lept over the boar again. She timed her shot and slid her dart into its stomach before throwing it again. She then moved on, keeping watch and admiring the forest around her. She still had her lazy smile and rolled up her weapon again.

Xanadu looked downwards, admiring how well kept the forest was. One of the few places I've seen unpolluted by humans, he thought, his face darkening as the thought flitted through his head. As he was in thought, a dark shape below him caught his attention, causing his to swoop lower for a better look. A Beowulf, en route to another student, who looked like she was about as deep in thought as Xanadu.

Making up his mind, he dived downwards, landing in between Evelyn and the Beowulf, with his armblades and guns out. He leapt forwards, putting his hands together to form his rocket launcher, then put a rocket into the centre of the Grim. Instantly pulling them apart again, he went to work with his blades, digging them into the flank of the beast and pulling upwards, whilst the wrists put bullets into the literal centre. After slicing it clean in half, the thing melted into black liquid, and Xanadu quickly changing his suit pure black so it wouldn't show. The Beowulf didn't go down without a fight, however, and managed to tear a rip in the right leg, almost travelling vertically down the whole limb. His aura protected his body, however, so there was no cut, although it looked like there ought to be one.

"Are you all right?" Xanadu asked the person behind him, his shyness starting to return now that he had stopped fighting

Evelyn turned and smiled. She shrugged and stretched her arms above her head with a yawn. She flopped her arms to her side, "yeah I guess. Didn't see that guy, huh. Thanks for saving me".

She then yawned again and adjusted her poncho. Her hands finding their place on her hips, "my name is Evelyn".

"H-hey. I'm Xanadu." Xanadu said quietly, retracting his armblades with an audible 'Shink', and sliding his guns back into his wrist. Suddenly remembering what he was meant to do if he met somebody he didn't know, he held his hand out, quite hastily

"Calm down," Evelyn chuckled. She took his hand and shook it before tucking her hand back into her poncho. She looked about and whistled loudly again, "beautiful am I right? Untouched and raw beauty".

"You could say that. I've only even seen one forest like this before, and it was at the base of a mountain which humans hadn't found yet. Completely untouched." Xanadu replied wistfully, looking into the Sky

"Hey, wait for me!" Yuuji shouted as he flew across the clearing on the grappling hook. His hand slipped, sending the young Faunus towards the ground next to Xanadu. He stood up, brushed the dust off, and said, "So what did I miss?"

"We were just talking," Evelyn smiled and offered the fallen student a hand to shake. She looked between the two and hummed in thought. Then she looked behind her, "my name is Evelyn and I think we should keep going".

"Um... Yeah. So I met her, killed a Beowulf, and that's about it. And I think he should probably follow her advice, and keep going." Xanadu replied, walking forwards at quite a fast pace

"So I missed fighting. Well that sucks. My name is Yuuji," he said shaking the girl's hand. "Don't you need a teammate?" He asked her after a second. "Maybe we should find you one?"

From the woods, shouting can be heard. "Yeah this is real excitement!" Ryan screamed as he jumped out of the woods pushing a Beowolf which he had impaled with his arm blades. He stood up next to Yuujin and the others. "Oh hey there." He said as he retracted his arm blades.

"Never mind Evelyn. There's your partner then," he said giving a laugh. "So It looks like we should head to the ruins. Find those artifacts so we can pass."

"Hello," Evelyn smiled and waved at the boy that had just showed up. She crossed her arms under her poncho once again. She looked around, her lazy smile back on her face. She blew another lock of her hair out of her face.

Niko mulled over the girls question for a moment and recalled seeing a flash of something large and white on his way back down to earth. From where they were now standing he guessed that would now be somewhere to the northeast of them. It was a place to start at least and better than just wandering around these woods aimlessly.

"Yeah I think I might of caught a glimpse of something that way, pretty sure it looked ruiny." He said whilst pointing in the general direction of whatever it was he had seen. Now that he had time to look around it really struck Niko that this forest was pretty damn beautiful. The leaves and general foliage were such a vibrant colour, they were positively bursting with life. Shame that this place was infested with grimm really.

"You coming or what?" Niko called out behind him as he suddenly dashed away into the forest, remembering this was actually a race of sorts. No more time to be wasted looking at nature. "I'm not coming last if you cant keep up lass!"

Xanadu nodded his head, saying "Yes. That is probably the best idea. I saw what looked like ruins whilst I was flying earlier. We should go there." He then made a sharp 90 degree turn, and once ahao head up a tree, going across the treetops instead so that his partner could keep it up. After Xanadu had got what he judged as halfway, he sat down on one of the branches, grimacing as he inspected the damage done to Skydancer. "This is going to take some time to repair," he muttered to himself. "I should probably be more careful when fighting those things. Maybe try dropping on them from above..." His voice trailed off after noticing another two people below his tree, a boy surrounded by smoke, and a few embers and a smol girl, with pale skin and hair, dull eyes, and a lot of purple which really showed up on those black clothes (since her outfit was more eye-catching than Niko's, at least to Xanadu, he didn't care much about Niko's outfit)

Orchid gave a small start as her new partner suddenly dashed off. Sure, his voice gave her a precise direction but that wouldn't do her any good if she couldn't see where he was heading off too. She sighed quietly to herself, rapidly making those chirping noises under her breath, and suddenly the forest and the lad lit up in the blackness of her vision. She dashed off after him, until she fell into step and could rely on his heavy stride to guide her while she spoke. "You know, leaving a girl by her lonesome in a dangerous forest like this can bring you some bad rep, if y'know what I mean." She quipped, and her voice was extremely hoarse.

Suddenly, the outline of something huge moving lit up her sight, and she leapt smoothly into a tree. The claws on her gauntlets and boots extended and dug into the bark. She pulled out her baton, extending it before it separated and reformed into her compact and sleek sniper. Chirping lightly, she could see the very front of the gargantuan Grimm, a Deathstalker Scorpion if you wanted to be exact. She groaned, the lad led them straight to their doom.

She chirped a few more times, loading one of her darts into the sniper, and using some extreme guess and check, she shot the dart. It landed in the soil just beneath the thing, and the low unheard sound coming from beneath it lit up the entire beast for her. With a grin, able to save her semblance, she loaded several darts into her weapon. If she could align the darts with the Grimm's eye, and shoot several of the fire based darts into the skull.... Well, it should be quite fun.

Xanadu felt a noise grating against his ears around the same time the girl ran off, almost like the bats he had heard back home. Being a bird Faunus was great and all, but the ultrasonic hearing became a bit annoying if you're always out at night. But it's daytime. Where are the bats? As the sound began to get fainter, it finally clicked in Xanadu's brain. "Oh. It's coming from her." He said to himself, just before hearing a hiss.

Instantly, he shot towards the sound, recognising it as a Grimm, whilst at the same time speaking into his wristpad. "Get over here now, there's a desthstalker scorpion straight in front of me. Just head in the direction I was going." The sound would be relayed to the mic fitted to the grappling hook, since he knew he was going to pair up sooner or later.

After he arrived, he saw the other two people fighting the thing already, and pulled out his guns, sending a hail of bullets into the the side of it. Most of them glanced off of its plating, but around three managed to get through a chink in the armour, making it stumble momentarily

"Wait for me!" He shouted chasing after his partner as he flew off. He jumped within the treetops, using the limbs as a direct form of transportation. Either this partner of his couldn't sit still, or just didn't like him. He considered the second option.

As he bust through the trees, in mid-air, and saw the grimm. In a twirl, he pulled out his sword, pulled it down to it's shotgun position and fired a few rounds before landing next to the people who were fighting it. "Need a hand?" He asked recognizing Niko and giving him a nod.

"Aw shit." Orchid's voice escaped her as the new pair suddenly burst into the previously quiet (well, not to her but you get the idea) clearing. The great beast reared up with a hiss, swinging its tail. Noticing her window slipping away, she quickly used the noise to take note of its largest eye, firing a full round of four darts, hoping to land at least one and end the fight by destroying the beast from within. The tail swung close to her tree, and she unfortunately didn't notice it until a whoosh of air signaled its approach, but by then it was too late for her to dodge it cleanly. It caught her gun with the tip of the dangerous tail, and the momentum launched Orchid across the clearing until she blindly crashed into another tree. She screamed as she flew, and whilst in mid air her voice gave out. It wasn't until the trees disappeared from her vision and she tried to chirp did she realize her semblance had been depleted. Her eyes widened, and after she crashed she felt the bleeding scratches all across her arms and face. She knew that wasn't going to be hidden easily, red on white is a great eye catcher.

Niko wasn't the least perturbed by his monumental screw up, sure their was quite a bit difference between successfully locating the ruins and stumbling upon a deadly and rather upset deathstalker but hey at least this way he got to blow off a little steam. The girls quip had barely penetrated through the veil of excitement that had taken over the young hunter and for the most part he ignored her, only offering a little chuckle in response as somewhere deep down he realised that hadn't been a half bad quip. Anyway no time for talk, now was the time for action.

Squaring up the great insectoid beast Niko gave each hand a sudden shake as if he was trying to get something off of them. Instead of anything flying off what actually happened was his watch and wristband began to morph at an alarming rate, the metal spreading so that it coated all the way up to his elbows. His hands were now wrapped in a pair of gauntlets with a distinct dragon head design and exhaust pipes poked out of the armour that now covered his forearms. Now that the Sun bringers were ready for action Niko rushed forward towards his foe, leaping into the air heroically....only to be shot in the back.

The darts exploded after imbedding themselves in his back which sent the pyro hurtling past the deathstalker so that he landed roughly in the foliage about 10 feet away where he lay, completely inert. Meanwhile air support had arrived in the form of Xanadu, temporarily ceasing the monstrous grimm from going after Niko.

Whilst that particular battle raged on Niko suddenly opened his eyes. Not the usual brown now but a fiery gold. He felt good, more than good, great actually. It took the boy a moment to realise what must have happened as he rose to his feet. The girl, his partner that is, must have managed to tag him with some sort of fire dart. What a quick thinker, she guessed his semblance that quickly? Impressive. A rather notable physical change had come over Niko now that he was standing upright again, the majority of his skin was now covered in thick grey scales and twin streams of flame leaked from each corner of his mouth (Charizard X style). The look on his face was one of pure glee, this was going to be fun.

Turning to the silver haired girl he called out "Hey thanks for the pick me up!" and gave her a thumbs up before rushing the beast once more, arms coated in flames that tapered past his elbow. The deathstalker was ready for an assault this time and brought down a massive claw that aimed to swat Niko our of existence but thanks to his new found strength he caught the mighty appendage with both hands and held it there, forcing the death stalker to endure the flames from his gauntlets. As he stood there grinning ear to ear he recognised Yuuji as the guy standing beside him. "Hey glad to see you could make it to the party buddy."

"I wouldn't miss a party this big for the world," Yuuji said firing a few more rounds at the creature;s hide. They seemed to be ineffective. "We need to aim for his stomach, that could be his weak point," Yuuji shouted drawing his blade, ready to go.

Reacting quickly, Xanadu abandoned shooting at the scorpion to run towards the fallen girl, pausing for only a second to dart sideways and grab the weapon that had been launched. Whilst heading across the clearing, he was too focused on getting to his fallen comrade to notice the tail coming back again, and the massive appendage sliced straight across his left arm, and a loud rip was heard as the fabric (?) that made up his weapon gave way. Not only that, but a warning began to flash on his wrist. Aura level low. Seek shelter immediately. Ignoring these distractions, Xanadu eventually got to Orchid, and held out a hand to help her up, asking "Are you all right?"

Orchid groaned silently, everywhere hurt or was bleeding. Or a combination of both, but either way she got lucky that time. She made a few faces, nose scrunching up as she grimaced in pain. Eventually, the voice of someone who was not her partner came from above her. She barely missed his briefly glowing outline, but she noticed how a hand was probably being held out to her. Grimacing again, she reached out to take the help- only to miss the hand completely the first time, then brushed it the second. Growling silently, the third time she managed to firmly grab the unknown student's hand and haul herself up. A few cuts bloomed with a little more blood from the movement, more stinging, more pain. Orchid was not enjoying this little adventure at all. She also noticed the absence of two things. One, her weapon. Two, her hat. One hand lifted to find, indeed, the hat shielding her eyes from view was gone. She ran a hand down her face, a puff of air escaping her lips as she groaned (silently, shocker), able too feel the dark, ropey scars across her eyes. It's a shame really, she liked that hat.

Xanadu's eyes widened momentarily at seeing the scars the girl had running across her eyes, then resumed his natural expression. But, how can she see with those? Wait... Isn't she the girl who was making those noises? So...The penny finally dropped, and Xanadu figured out why she was making those clicking sounds. But... She'd missed his hand several times before she managed to get herself up. Did the throw do something to her? He gently pressed the small tube he found into her hands, and asked "Can you speak? Did the hit do something to you?"

(Back. @Eevee E let's get back to work.)
"Here's the cave." Topaz said, skidding to a halt. Since we last saw our heroes, Topaz and Vanyali had made their way along the lake and arrived at the cave. "From here... we head west." he said, pulling out a compass. As soon as it was correctly oriented, it showed him what direction west was. As it turned out, they had come from the south. "Let's go right." Topaz began walking... but bumped his foot against something. Looking down, he saw a large... black line...?
Then he saw the snake head at the end.
"KING TAIJITU! BLACK HEAD TWO O' CLOCK FROM ME! WHITE HEAD'S LOCATION UNKNOWN!" Topaz drew his swords, transformed them into guns, and fired at the Taijitu in seconds. "If we want to finish it off, we need to kill both heads at once! Find the other and pin it down!" Topaz rolled out of the way of the regenerating black head's charge towards him.

Still unawares as to the condition of his partner and fully engaged in the battle at hand Niko let out a defiant and rather fiery roar as he continued to wrestle with the hulking beast. The Deathstalker was strong, Niko could feel its raw power pushing back against his own as he grasped its claw but thanks to his semblance going ballistic he was able to hold his ground by digging his feet into the soft soil of the Emerald forest.

"Yuuji buddy, take the other claw out of commission, I've got this one!" Niko growled as he suddenly shifted his footing and wrenched the scorpions claw into an open position, jamming one armoured arm inside so that he could hold it open. Now that the beast was in such a compromising position it was with relative ease and a cocky smirk that he followed this up by putting his other gauntlet inside the claw before releasing a colossal jet of fire which made the Deathstalker release chitters of agony.

"Tag team, like in wrestling!" Yuuji shouted giving a grin, aiming his sword in an arc, blocking more attempts from the Deathstalker to remove his hands, from his arms. He flipped forward and landed on top of the pincer.

"Whoohoo!" He yelled, as he swung his free arm around, in a wide arc, like a cowboy. He shifted the blade down, creating the shotgun, firing round after round into the pincer. Then he swung with the shotgun, shifting it to a sword, and sliced forward, creating a deep crevice in the pincer.

"Yo Yuuji your up, lend me a hand over here, or a sword?" Niko called out to the monkey faunus as he continued to burn the claw to a crisp, jerking at it with his head to indicate that his ally could try and turn it into a scorpion kebab.

"Gotcha mate," Yuuji said in an arc to slice the claw in half. He jumped over, before landing on top of the other claw. He thrust the blade down, while another angry shriek escaped the Deathstalker's mouth.
(This is a collab between me and Ry before anybody asks why I was controlling his character, we sorted it out in pm)

"Got it." Vanyali replied, as she spun her glaive in her hand. She skimmed her eyes along the black King Taijitu, until the body turned white. From then on, she followed the white, until she found the white Taijitu head. "White King Taijitu head spotted." Vanyali called, as she charged at the Grimm. She leapt above it as it tried to snap at her with it's jaws, and pinned it down right behind it's head with her blade. "I got it pinned!"

"Good! We'll cut both heads off at the same time!" Topaz said. He ran towards the head, leaping into it. He locked himself around the regenerating head by putting his legs around the neck, and put his swords on the sides. "NOW!" Topaz sliced the black head off at the same time as Vanyani.

On Topaz's call, Vanyali leapt into the air once more, and slashed down at the white half of the King Taijitu, decapitating it at the same time Topaz did with the black head. "Well, that was fun." Vanyali stated, as she transformed Soul Shredder into it's Nunchaku form, and put them in a holster on her side. "Ready to find those relics?"
