Ask to Join Sinnoh League Regional Tournament

Alex ran to the stadium, undoubtedly late. Great job, he thought, first tournament and you’re late to the opening ceremony. On his run there he caught a few words every now and then and put them together like a puzzle. Opponents. 3v3. Semi-finals. 6v6.

Once Alex got there he got a glimpse of the screens showing the trainer he would be battling for the first round. He silently hoped he could win at least one battle, but had no confidence that he would make to far. Alex leaned against a wall and stared at all the trainers in front of him. Most had probably participated in a contest like this, some may have even won them before. What about himself? He slid down the wall to sit on the ground, petting his Manectric and watching sparks come from his determination. If he was going to go through with this, he would do it for his Pokémon.

Robin couldn't help but to smile as he watched the opening ceremony. This wasn't his first tournament, and certainly wouldn't be his last, but he still really enjoyed these ceremonies. The pictures of his opponents came up, but Robin didn't really take heed. He'd fight them when it came to it. No sense in going after them now. Looking around the crowd, Robin noticed an Infernape next to blonde male trainer.
"Hey, that's a nice Infernape you got." Robin said. Cherry, on the other hand, didn't seem to think so. The Plusle seemed a little put off by the Infernape's presence, and his on the other side of her trainer's shoulder. Meanwhile, Q was looking at the Infernape with a challenging smirk. There was nothing more Q loved than throwing down with another Fighting Type.

Plus looked up to the board. His opponent was a kid with red, pointy hair. Taking a few breathes, he ran to the nearest PC system to call his mother.

“Mom! Send over Muk and Kricketune now! I want to use them! Here’s Torkoal and Froslass!” His mother hurried to get the two Pokemon’s Pokeballs, and sent them both over. Once they were transferred, he settled down.

“Whew! It’s your first battle, you two, so make a lasting impression!”

Luke turned around and looked at Robin with an arrogant smile. “Hah I don’t need compliments from a disheveled commoner such as you. Though I must say that Gallade is easily intimidated by Infernus as other Pokémon are you must have raised it well. I have a Gallade myself but it is not as strong as Infernus here.” Infernus saw the Gallade smirk and held an angry expression and looked to Luke as if asking to attack and Luke waved it away. The Infernape then gave out a growl.

Upon being called a "disheveled commoner" a smile spread across Robin's face. It was quite clear that this smile Robin wore was one of annoyance. He recognized this kid now. He was the one that called the secretary an imbecile because he forgot his room key.
"Y'know, for a 'disheveled commoner', it seems that I might have better manners then you. Or maybe I'm speaking in too common if a tongue right now." Robin said, turning to fully face Luke. He cleared his throat, then began to speak in a full voice with a slight British accent. "I do say sir, that thy etiquette seems to resemble that of a mule's behind."
With that, Robin smiled and went back to his normal voice.
"That's a fancy way of saying you're an asshole."

Mathilda then shifted uncomfortably as her opponent staring at her, and at this, the trainer looked away, back at another trainer next to them. Roria blinked his small eyes for the first time for a few minutes, and his elegant, large redish-orange wings flapped slowly as he stayed beside his trainer. He looked over to the two trainers that seemed to be arguing, one spitting an insult after the other. The Pokemon scanned the other Pokemon that were next to them, but then turned away. Mathilda looked up at the large fire butterfly, her hand scratched the shoulder of her sweater, but then she just continued to wait before the battles begun and she could face her opponent.

Luke glared at Robin and said “You disgusting filth how dare you. If I did not have better control of myself I would say we would battle right here. Unfortunately I don’t have the luxury of behaving like a streetrat and based off your attire I would guess you had to work your way to power. One is either born with importance or not this cannot be changed. As such, one thousand lambs led by one lion can easily defeat one thousand lion led by one lamb.” Infernus looked ready to attack at any given moment.

Robin raised an eyebrow.
"What, you're saying that I'm the lamb leader and you're the lion leader?" Robin glanced down at himself, then at his sword, then over at Q and Cherry. Q looked very amused by this whole situation, while Cherry looked worried. The Plusle never did like it when her trainer egged on other humans. Robin looked back up at Like with a grin. "If so, I'm a pretty badass lamb, while you look like a pretty skimpy lion. And plus, that's pretty mean to call your Infernape there a lamb."

"So Landon do you have the Pokemon you want to use in mind?" Lyra asked as the two made their way to the room they were staying at.

"Yeah, I plan to use Spike, Dusk, and Fuego," Landon replied as he opened the door to the room and tossed his belongings onto a bed. Landon rummaged through his bag before pulling out a badge case, inside were 8 Sinnoh Gym Badges, they had lost their shine over time and some of the paint was beginning to scratch off.

"Those were the first Gym Badges you've ever won, right?" Lyra asked. Landon nodded silently as he pulled out a small spray bottle of polish and a cloth and began polishing the badges.

Luke sighed and said “It is a figure of speech impudent fool. I’m saying you are just a mere commoner and I am born for greatness. Now unless you would like to battle me I am going to be leaving. I would like a spot of practice before the tournament.” Luke looked at his two Pokémon and said “It can either be a one on one or a double battle I don’t care regardless.”

“Kricketune, Muk, and Noctowl. I’m counting on you guys.” Prinplup frowned at the fact that it wouldn’t be used in the upcoming battle. “Well Prinplup, these three haven’t battled much, especially Muk and Kricketune. These are who I will rely on. When we make it to the next round, you’ll be in there for sure!” Prinplup sighed, and waved off Plus. He soon recalled Prinplup. “Your attitude is also why you won’t be used.

As he began to walk out of the stadium, Plus noticed two arguing competitors. “It’s always good to make new friends.”

“Hi there, you two!” Plus happily skipped over to the participaters. “You guys excited for the first rounds? I know I am.” Plus happily nodded his head.

"Farewell, your majesty." Robin said to Luke with a mocking bow. "May we never meet again."
Robin was about to turn back to look at the screen when another trainer approached, saying hello. He was even younger than that jerk Robin had just been talking to, but unlike the jerk the kid had a better attitude. Robin couldn't help but to smile at the kid's cheerfulness. What could he say? Excitement was contagious.
"Yeah, I'm pretty pumped up as well. Q and Cherry here are gonna do great, I just know it!" Robin said, gesturing to his Gallade and Plusle. Q nodded at the kid, while Cherry looked at him curiously from Robin's shoulder. "My name's Robin. I'm here for fun. What about you?"

“I’m Plus. Nice to meet you! I’m here so I can win, although this is my first tournament. Hopefully a little bit of beginner’s luck will help me through the first few rounds.”

Prinplup eyes both Q and Cherry, and puffed it’s chest out in pride, trying to signal some authority. “Prinplup! What did I say earlier?” Prinplup sighed, scratching his head, and de-puffed. “That’s Prinplup’s usual nature. He can get pretty cocky sometimes.”

Plus soon noticed the Gallade, and went wide eyed. “Wow! What a Pokemon! What’s it called?” Plus pulled out a Pokedex, and the data showed its entry, type, and classification. “Gallade, huh? That’s a cool name. Ooo, I want one now!” Prinplup looked towards his trainer in dismay, although he held no grudge against Gallade, and just sighed.

“Oh, I hope the tournaments starts really soon! I can’t wait!”

The next morning Landon and Lyra got up early and finished all preparations for Landon's first round in the Sinnoh League. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the Sinnoh League Lily of the Valley conference!" the announcer began, "As you all may remember the first round of this exciting league will be fought as a 3 on 3 battle! Now please welcome the two trainers who will be competing!" Landon walked down a long corridor and onto the stadium where he was greeted with a massive pool.

"So you're battling on a Water Field," Lyra muttered, "Are you ready?"

"You know it, no matter what the field may be, I know I have to win it!" Landon replied with a smile. Lyra smiled back before walking over to a nearby stand where coaches or friends of battling trainers could sit.

Landon looked across to see his opponent, a young woman who looked not much older than Landon. "On the left we have Landon from Twinleaf Town, and on the right is Katrina from Hearthome City!"

Landon watched as the nearby scoreboard lit up with three empty spaces, as well as the images of the trainers. The referee took his position to the side of the field and raised two flags. "This battle between Landon and Katrina is about to begin, both trainers have the use of three Pokemon, when all of one sides Pokemon are unable to battle the match will be over!" The referee explained, Landon and Katrina both nodded, signifying they understood what was being explained, "It has been decided that Katrina will have the first move, now bring out your Pokemon!"

"Now Tropius, to my side!" Katrina called as she threw her first Pokeball, it burst open to reveal a large Tropius that immediately took flight.

"Fuego, come on out!" Landon called as he threw his Pokeball. The ball burst open as his Magmortar uneasily tried to gain it's balance on one of the platforms.

Mathilda was watching from the sidelines as the battle began, having gotten up early to get extra ready for the first day of the tournament. She knew she would have to migrate over to the competitor's area, but she definitely wanted to watch as many battles as she could before having to do so. Her Breloom was beside her, watching from below a seat through a crack and seeing what may happen during the battle. Mathilda was excited to see who'd win, already shifting in her seat as she was becoming fired up with the thought of the battle. She started twitching again, but she quickly calmed down after she realized she had become rather too excited for the match.

"Having the type advantage will mean nothing, Tropius use Air Slash!" Katrina shouted. Tropius flapped it's wings sending a large wave towards Fuego.

"Fuego, Thunderbolt let's go!" Landon responded. Fuego quickly became surrounded by electricity as it fired a shot of electricity at the wave of air causing an explosion, "Now use Flamethrower!" Fuego quickly opened it's arm cannons as it shot out a searing hot flame towards Tropius. The flames engulfed Tropius as it fell into the pool where the flames were extinguished.

"Now Tropius use Gust!" Katrina ordered. Tropius flapped it's wings again as a massive tidal wave formed in front of Fuego. The wave crashed down onto Fuego soaking it's body. Katrina smiled as Tropius flew out of the water. "Now Tropius use Gust again!"

"Fuego use Flamethrower!" Landon shouted, Fuego quickly aimed one of it's cannons at Tropius but when it tried to fire smoke only came out. Tropius flapped it's wings creating some strong winds that were beginning to push Fuego off of it's platform.

"Landon, Fuego's body temperature was cooled by the water!" Lyra shouted, "It can't build up any fire to attack!"

Landon watched helplessly as Tropius' Gust blew Fuego into the large pool. He quickly reached for two Pokeballs, aiming one at the pool, "Fuego return!" Landon commanded, the Pokeball shot a red beam that recalled Fuego back to it's Pokeball. Landon readied his second Pokeball, "Dusk, you're next!" he called as he threw his next Pokeball, sending out his Lycanroc.

"I thought your Fire-Type was a good choice, but then you brought out a Rock-Type, are you trying to lose?" Katrina asked, "Whatever, Rock-Types are generally heavy so we'll just knock it into the pool like the Magmortar." Tropius and Dusk exchanged a look of determination to win the battle for their trainers.

"Tropius use Gust!" Katrina ordered. Tropius immediately began creating strong gusts of wind.

"Dusk use Accelerock!" Landon ordered, Dusk shot past the Gust and slammed into Tropius causing major damage. Tropius fell to one of the platforms where it got back up, still regaining it's strength from the last attack.

"Now Tropius, Bullet Seed!" Katrina ordered. Tropius immediately began firing seeds at high speeds towards Dusk.

"Counter!" Landon shouted. The rocks around Dusk's mane began glowing as it used the largest one at the front of it's mane to send the seeds flying back at double their original speed.

"Get away Tropius!" Katrina ordered, but Tropius was too slow from taking the Accelerock to dodge the attack. The seeds pounded against Tropius as it fell into the pool. When it surfaced it was revealed that the last attack had knocked it out.

"Tropius is unable to battle! Lycanroc is the winner!" The referee declared. Katrina recalled her Tropius before taking out her second Pokeball.

"Golduck, to my side!" she called as her Pokeball opened, immediately sending Golduck into the pool of water.

Plus placed his hands on the railing, and looked over it, getting closer to the battle. Now this was exciting! His heart was racing, watching each trainer command their Pokemon with different types of moves, both trying to advance to the second round. Of course, it was an ordinary Pokemon battle, but something about it taking place in the League made it feel like there’s was more to be gained. Plus wanted that feeling.

The boy cheered extra loud on the stands, causing some spectators to move away and shush him. Plus responded with, “Sorry, I’m just real excited,” or “Don’t you feel the same way? Cheer with me!” A few people on the front bleachers joined him, screeching and shouting for the trainer they were routing for. He clenched the bar tighter, feeling another rush of adrenaline and thrill.

Luke watched the battle unfold as he stood by waiting for his opponent and had a grin on his face. “Oh please advance on I want some actual fun not some base born weakling garbage.” Luke held the pokeball of his Infernape as he studied the water field and knew Infernus would have a rough time there, but didn’t care regardless knowing he must win.

"Alright Dusk, let's win this, Accelerock!" Landon ordered, Dusk immediately rushed the Golduck, leaping from platform to platform with incredible speed. It slammed into Golduck with immense force, "Keep up the pressure, use Fire Fang!" Landon ordered, Dusk's mouth was filled with flames as it charged at Golduck once again.

"Fool," Katrina smirked, "Golduck use Dive!" Golduck instantly vanished into the water and out of sight, avoiding Dusk's Fire Fang. Dusk however kept going a fell into the pool of water, completely vulnerable to an attack. Golduck sprang from the water and grabbed Dusk before hurling it to a platform, creating a large crack in the process.

"Dusk, are you okay?" Landon called out, Dusk slowly rose and shook it's mane, giving Landon a nod, confirming it was okay and was still willing to battle.

"Your Lycanroc must have a lot of trust to still be willing to battle," Katrina taunted before raising her fist, "Now Golduck Iron Tail!" Golduck's tail became cloaked in steel as it dove into the water and began swimming towards the platform Dusk was standing on. It swung it's tail and quickly destroyed the platform sending Dusk into the water. "Now Hydro Pump!" Katrina ordered. Golduck fired a high pressure blast of water that sent Dusk flying out. Dusk fell to the large central platform with a thud, and unable to battle.

"Lycanroc is unable to battle, Golduck is the winner!" the referee declared. Golduck shot out from the water and gave a thumbs up to the entire crowd. Landon pulled out a Pokeball and recalled his Lycanroc.

"Thank you Dusk, you were great," Landon smiled, putting Dusk's Pokeball away. Landon took out his next Pokeball and threw it high into the air. It burst open as his Magmortar slammed onto the field once again. "Thunderbolt let's go!" Landon called, Fuego became surrounded with electricity as it fired a bolt straight at Golduck.

"Golduck Protect!" Katrina quickly ordered. Just as fast, Golduck's gem began glowing as it created a barrier that blocked the attack. "Now Hydro Pump!" Katrina ordered with a smile. Golduck's barrier faded quickly as it blasted another stream of high pressured water at Fuego. Landon didn't have time to react as Fuego was hit sending it flying back and into Landon. The two went flying until they hit the edge of the stadium. "Oh I'm so sorry!" Katrina shouted.

"I'm fine!" Landon shouted back, still smiling, Landon looked down to see that Fuego wasn't as fine.

"Magmortar is unable to battle, Golduck is the winner!" the referee declared. Landon recalled his Magmortar before getting up and stretching. He walked back to his position on the field and took it a deep breath. He quickly reached and drew his last Pokeball, he wound up and threw it with all his might. The ball burst open as a Blaziken slid onto the field, a metal brace was wrapped around it's leg as a unique stone shone in the light.
