I feel like older pokemon make more sense that new ones. I would personally look at the Platinum Pokedex and reorganise where each pokemon is.

It makes sense for older pokemon to appear because then it could be like the anime. Obviously that's a paradox in itself as the newer pokemon didn't appear at that time...

See, for me, that's enough. The only place where fire types would come in a group would be Fuego Ironworks, but that is a side area not too many people know about. In the post game, there is a volcano, but i'm assuming we won't go there. Plus, there's national dex pokemon there anyway.

we'd also need to go back to floaroma after getting surf, which iirc is after wake?

We should put them as rare encounters in certain places and make up certain special scenarios-like a burnt up tall grass patch on the route near Celestic town could very much be a thing. Some people could even find a starter pokemon or two released out in the wild like Ash did in the anime.

I feel like Luke would claim a chimchar as his starter since he would view Infernape as the strongest starter
Also I feel like gift Pokémon should be very very limited or there be none at all

Is there a way a character can have a rare event and find a starter in the wild like Ash? Also, when is this set? (10 years after D/P/Pl, during the course of it, or what? Because I might want my character to be the daughter of Dawn if it's several years into the future)

Starter in the wild depends whether or not little green bean puts them into the encounter list

First things first, that backstory is ridiculously edgy and overly depressing. I'm pretty used to using depressed characters, it's easy for me considering that I'm diagnosed with clinical depression... so if you need anything I can try to help? Although I'm a pretty bad teacher in general so I can't promise anything.
