• Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.

So did you get what you wanted?

As we wait for the English names for all the other Gen V Pokemon, it's time to reflect back to the days when Gen IV was going strong. When we were just making threads about the things we wanted to see in Gen V.

So did you get what you wanted?

I definitely got some of things I wanted so much for Gen V. Lightning Rod and Storm Drain both got tweaked the way I wanted--they now granted immunities to and raise special attack when hit with electric and water moves in addition to merely redirecting them. We also got a 'cute' dark type that I've been wanting for ages now: Zorua ♥

PS: Just because I can, I'd like to give a shout out to everyone out there who said there wouldn't be a Gen V because Arceus is the god of Pokemon or because Nintendo ran out of ideas. I'm grateful your silly arguments were put to rest.

I wanted a sea turtle Pokemon, not just a water type turtle like Squirtle. And they made Purotoga :D

I also wanted more Psychic/Flying types and they made those too. Koromori is awesome and is one of my favorite common Pokemon. ♥

The lack of Dark type Gym Leader was saddening, but I can wait a little bit longer for that.

I got arguably one of my favorite type combinations of all time in Shanderaa, so I absolutely love that. :3 On that note, I'm so happy that we got a good number of Fire types this Gen so I won't be forced into choosing one starter like I was in my first Diamond playthrough (Screw you, Ponyta D:<).

Also, we finally got a Polar Bear Pokemon. :'D Now I just need a proper Panda and I can be happy. :3 (Although I'm not exactly thrilled with Tsunbear :T)

And not to mention they finally made a Bug type that I'm crazy about ahead of time in Dentula. Most Bug types have to grow on me, but that guy immediatly caught my eye.

Well I had predicted that they would make a fire pig since third gen, and I always though they would make a grass sheep (Erefuun), plus, even though he's a legendary, we've finally gotten a pure flyer, and we've finally gotten a dark dragon. Yep, pretty satisfied. I would've been more satisfied if Snivy would have turned out to be a bird like I originally thought, but it'll happen someday.

Well, I was expecting a Grass-snake (I'd even drawn one for my fakemon region, then had to erase it completely because of Snivy D:<), a Fire-Ghost and an Electric-Bug. I didn't think about it too much move- and abilitywise, since I almost completely missed out on gen IV >>;

But in general I'm satisfied. I gots my Bug and Ghost ^^

Likewise. I'd been waiting for a Bug/Fire-type combination for ages, and we finally got one - an awesome one at that. :D

I was also hoping that Drain Punch would receive a PP boost in future generations, and I definitely got that wish granted. It was made even better by the power upgrade! ^_^

Lastly, I was hoping for a Water starter this generation that I'd really love, if not moreso than the Grass and Fire-type starter lines. I've had dislikes for one or more stage of our Water-type starters since Gen 2, but Oshawott has fixed all of that. It's my favourite starter line this generation, especially for Futachimaru. ♥

I guess it's worth mentioning that I have wanted to see seasons in Pokemon games for ages, but I wasn't wholly sure if it'd ever happen. The fact they finally did implement them is really awesome and makes me very happy.

At first, I was like: "Theese pokémons will never be pokémons to me!"

But after getting used to them I really like most of 'em. I actually like this gen better than the last one.

I agree i like this gen better than last the starters are all decent and most of the designs are good. There were only a couple of things i dont like

-Lack of actual diving with out guided paths like in R/S/E

-still a lack of choosing your character sprite (the closest thing they have is the union room which is random)

-Showing the actual poke that your surfing/flying on
