Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.
@Merciless Medic I had to use bulbapedia to see what held items, abilities, and moves to have on them(moves are not shown in the Pokemon bios) and then I had to make them unique. I think I feel you on this one.
Position: Spire Master Name: Ceres Aeons Title(s): Spire Master, (The) Songbird Age: 20 Gender: Female Height: 5’6 (~167.64 cm) Weight: 118 lbs. Hair Color: Silver with a very, very faint blue tint Build: Slender Eye color: Light Brown, practically gold Birthplace: Motostoke City, Galar First Pokémon: Dreepy (Now a Dragapult) Occupation: Professional Pokémon Trainer, Pokémon Researcher Affiliations: Battle Spire, Elite Four (All regions), The Birds of Passage (Arceus religious group) Likes: Pokémon, high level competitive battling, gardening, reading, translating old texts, playing her Ocarina, cleaning, home economics, training her Pokémon Dislikes: Hateful battling, negative people, unnecessary conflict, causing others pain or suffering, being unable to help, ignorant people, judgmental people Fears: Letting her team down, disappointing the people and Pokémon she cares about Clothing/ Accessories/ Appearance: Ceres is a beautiful and endearing young girl with high-ish cheek bones, a slightly pointed chin, and slightly thinner lips that curl ever faintly upwards at the end giving her a gentle appearance that makes her seem like she’s faintly smiling, along with other very attractive feminine features. She has feathery layered silver hair that hangs down between her shoulder-blades. It’s shorter up top, gently flaring outwards backwards in numerous layers, almost like a white cockatoo (think Final Fantasy hair). She has pointed bangs the cover just a bit of her eyebrows down the front and two long locks that frame her face that goes slightly past her shoulders. She has a slender and fragile looking build.
Occasionally seen in a 2 piece white strapless shoulder-less dress that goes to down her knees, the upper portion of the dress is intricately decorated and embroidered with glistening gold resembling wings, vines, and waves. The designs continue down the tail of the upper dress as well. She completes this ensemble with a necklace that has the symbol of Arceus as a pendant and a pair of matching white Mary Jane Shoes that also have similar gold trim and deigns on them.
Alternatively she can also be seen wearing a similar outfit but instead of a white dress with gold, it's blue with silver patterns, and black and silver shoes, it also has shoulder straps more akin to a regular more casual dress and a white short sleeved undershirt. The silver patterns are nowhere near as complex as her white dress attire. This is more casual wear for her. Also with a Z-Bracelet on her left wrist.
Badges: Indigo League, Johto League, Hoenn League, Unova League, Sinnoh League Achievements: 1 of 6 Spire Masters the Battle Spire. Defeated Champion Leon in Galar, Champion Cynthia in Sinoh, currently in the process of preparing for the Kalos Leagues. Personality: Soft-spoken and kind, she loves and has a strong connection to nature and above all Pokémon. She has a fun sense of humor, loves to read, always has good intentions, and is willing to help out others in any way she can. She enjoys paying her ocarina and can often be heard playing it to her Pokémon, calming them and any nearby who hears her. Despite her gentle and serene disposition, she is an extremely fierce Pokémon battler, her strong connection to them enables her to comfortably compete in the upper most echelons of trainers.
Battle Style: True to her title, it is no secret that Ceres commands her Pokémon through the use of music and song, more specifically she utilizes her ocarina. Her Pokémon are able to go with the flow of battles though the melodies and rhythms she plays during a battle. Their ability to rapidly adapt and compensate against their opponents strategies and attacks on the fly has been described as: “like flowing water.” Her general strategy described by those who battled her consists of starting layering entry traps, status conditions, and relying on the opponent to cause self-harm through their own attacks, general stall tactics that force her opponents on the offensive while her own Pokémon utilizes defense based offense. Few have managed to push through these tactics but for those who do, they are treated to an extremely brutal, control style of battle against her Ninetales named, Whisper, one of three Pokémon that she is most famous or infamous for. Even less trainers and challengers have made it past her Ninetales, but for those who have, they face the full offensive power of Ceres's team. She doesn’t always battle in this order however, her team functions just as effectively in any order she sends them out in. She is also often cited as the Master of Full Battles by other Battlemasters and Spire Masters.
Background:
From a not very wealthy and not too poor family. She has two younger brothers, her father is an ex-Pokémon police officer of the Galaren Law Enforcement Agency having taken a slightly earlier retirement due to taking an injury in the line of duty, and to keep himself in shape he decided to take up berry farming, and also kept Torchics on the side as a hobby. Her mother is a caring and loving individual who hand crafts custom Pokémon clothing and matching outfits for their trainers, her mother’s needlework is unrivaled, drawing people from miles and even from other regions to order or buy her mother’s wears.
Her family, including Ceres, belong to a religious group of Arceus worshippers known as the Birds of Passage. They hold every Pokémon precious and treat them as equals to the best of their abilities. When Ceres was eight years old her father gifted her with a newly hatched Torchic, it feathers were off colored, most of his body was a light orange, almost like a light yellow or gold while his plumage and wings was a darker orange, more akin to the body feathers of a regular Torchic. Her father gave her this Torchic in preparation for her Pokémon journey, teaching her the responsibilities and discipline it takes to have Pokémon. It is customary for the children of the Birds of Passage to go Pokémon journeys when they reach ten years old and Ceres was no exception.. Despite her gentle and kind disposition and typically a person who dislikes violence and conflict, the rush that Pokémon battling gives her is something that she is completely addicted to. Her natural kinship to nature and Pokémon, along with a drive for knowledge and the pursuit for greatness made her into a formidable Pokémon trainer. She began her journey with her Torchic that she named Moegami, with her parents blessing and a goal set to earn multiple Champion titles following the legacy the powerful trainers from the Birds of Passage that she has read about since her early childhood.

Position: Participant Name: Kari Rebane Title(s): None Age: 17 Gender: Female Height: 5’3 (~163 cm) Weight: 110 lbs. Hair Color: Blonde with very faint iridescent tones of pinkish violet on the underside Build: Slender Eye color: Ice Blue Birthplace: Mossdeep City, Hoenn First Pokémon: Bagon (now a Salamence) Occupation: Pokémon trainer Affiliations: Hoenn Elite 4, Battle Resort Likes: The beach, Swimming, Diving and exploring the depths via diving, surfing, flying, rolling grassy plains Dislikes: The cold, caves, team Magma, team Aqua, getting her socks wet Fears: Very dark caves Clothing/ Accessories/ Appearance: Cute and adorable, with large expressive rounded, but slightly angular, eyes, a small button nose, a rounded face with a slightly pointed chin, and very fair skin.
Her hair is slightly past shoulder length and almost all wildly styled back into rough feathered spikes, held back by a white hairband with a deep red and black triangular flower on the right side of it that resembles the Eternal Flower. She has a lock of hair framing either side of her face parted from the right that both hand just above her shoulders.
She wears a light pink oversized jumper with a navy blue sailor’s scarf and white neckerchief. The jumper fits her almost like a dress going down slightly past her thighs, it has white stripes around the sleeve cuffs and bottom opening. And gold two rings that circle each upper arm sleeve, which usually only her fingers poke out of, her Z ring is hidden under her left sleeve. A two layered black skirt with mid shin length neon blue socks, and a pair of pink and neon pink high-top sneakers. She carries a light blue soft backpack that she carries her belongings and supplies in. Badges: Indigo League, Johto League, Hoenn League Achievements: Hall of Fame Hoenn, High ranked challenger of the Battle Resort Personality: Fiery, ruthlessly ambitious, and fiercely determined, she’s easily excitable and is always on the search for what’s next. Kari does not take losing lightly, and celebrates every victory against a new opponent. Sometimes described as a joyous firecracker, Kari does at times have an explosive temperament, but not in anger but rather in excitement and raw delight. Her prowess in battle often catches her opponents’ off-guard, she is truly talented for someone her age, and she knows it. At times her overconfidence leads to her own defeat, but she stay humble enough to learn and improve from every loss. Battle Style: Brutal, raw, and unrefined. She knows her team excels in various forms of raw offense and plays to their strengths. To that end, she and her team are devastatingly efficient at tearing down opposing Pokémon defenses and overpowering them. Due to lack of proper balance and coverage on her team when she faces a stronger opponent, it becomes extremely obvious that she struggles against such opponents, often re-challenging them multiple times before she is able to form an effective strategy to win. A good that did emerge from this style of battling is that she and her Pokémon have become masters at improvising and adapting their strategies.
Trivia: She is Celeste Master’s younger cousin.

I know this RP is gearing up to start soon, but would it be ok to join now? This thread seems really well thought out, it’s rare to find a battle-centric RP like this.
This character form was made in mobile and likely isn’t perfect, but it’s a start. It’s also subject to slight changes.
Position: Participant Name: Lorenne Hemsworth (occasionally goes by Lori) Age: 19 Gender: Female Height: 5’ 4” Hair Color: Blonde, but with a pink fade at the ends (dyed) Build: Fairly skinny, feminine, and not too strong. Eye color: Grey First Pokémon: Jigglypuff (Polka) Birthplace: Laverre City, Kalos Likes: Forests, Traveling, especially to big cities, Art and drawing, Lori likes to create sketches of wild Pokémon in her free time Dislikes: Overconfident trainers, losing a battle, dark caves Fears: Being left alone, missing an opportunity of any kind
Badges (Required): Lorenne has all eight Kalos and Hoenn badges.
Clothing/Accesories
-Lorenne wears a black long-sleeve blouse with a red ribbon tied around the collar, and a red pleated skirt skirt that goes to just above her knees. For the cold, she dons a tan peacoat and black patterned stockings.
- always wears some kind of simple ribbon in her hair that is coordinated with her outfit, as well as matching earrings.
-She carries a simple black shoulder bag containing any supplies and battle items, her Pokemon, ID, and any badges or ribbons she has earned.
Appearance
She likes to experiment with her hairstyle, sometimes straight, curled, half up/down, etc. Lori prefers to keep any makeup subtle, not flashy. She presents herself as polite and ladylike, but formidable. She carries herself confidently.
Achievements: Has defeated the Kalos champion, and held a lofty title at the Battle Maison, and challenged and found success at the Battle tree, and Battle Frontier.
Personality
Lori is motivated and headstrong, but prefers to keep her competitive side hidden when she can. She has worked very hard to get where she is, and wants to earn the respect of others for it. To do that, Lorenne always tries to be outwardly kind, calm, and cunning. But as much as she tries to put on the visage of adulthood, she can still behave out of jealousy, or be occasionally petty. Even so, Lori is not an inherently unkind person, she enjoys meeting new people, and the friends she makes are her friends for life, including her Pokémon.
Battle Style
In Lori’s experience, trainers always seem to seek out the strongest Pokémon, ones which can consistently win a battle on brute strength alone. She found this idea appalling. Instead, she opted to create a team that relied on tricky strategies and acting unpredictably. Adaptability was, and still is, her main focus. She is constantly changing her strategy between matches, while still keeping a few tricks as her go to when needed. Lori enjoys keeping her opponents on their toes, unsure of what to expect next.
-One trick she uses occasionally is to utilize nonverbal cues to command her Pokémon, such as a whistle or snap. She saves this for her closer partners who are most capable of on-the-fly strategy and need less specific commands.
Background (Required): She comes from a rather large family, with one brother and two older sisters, her being the youngest. By the time Lorenne was 12, all three of her siblings had gone off to peruse their own ambitions, only she remained.
After years of impatiently waiting, Lori was finally old enough to hold a trainers license. Beside herself with excitement, she wasted no time catching her first Pokémon, Polka, a Jigglypuff which had been floating through Laverre on a windy day. It wasn’t an instant connection, nothing like what her siblings experienced with their first partners, but it was enough for Lori. With careful optimism, she set out to explore her home region.
During her travels, she spent a lot of time alone, save for the occasional encounter with a trainer or gym leader. Where once her siblings kept her company, Lorienne’s Pokémon became her primary source of companionship. Homesickness was hard to bear at first, but she simply couldn’t bring herself to go home. After all, both of her older sisters had already made a name for themselves by defeating the Elite Four, and this left a lot for Lori to live up to. Often, it felt as though she had to work twice as hard to overcome challenges that came naturally to the two of them, such as mastering the timing of her moves, or keeping a level head under pressure. Needless to say, it wasn’t easy to keep her confidence up all of the time.
Slowly but surely, she grew into her role as a trainer. Her battle strategies became more fluid, her Pokémon’s attacks more accurate, and her reactions were faster. From one city to the next, her team grew stronger and more connected. Her final triumph came when she successfully challenged the Kalos League Elite Four and Champion. After brief celebration of victory in the Hall of Fame with her Pokémon, it donned on her that she had no plans for where to go next. It seemed that she was so focused on the Champion title, she hadn’t considered what she might do after obtaining it.
Her next destination came to her in the form of an invitation to the Kalos Battle Maison, a prestigious battle facility which was looking to recruit talented trainers to serve as part of the staff. Without hesitation, Lorenne jumped at the opportunity to take up the role. This is where she spent most of her time over the next year or so, with occasional trips to other battle facilities in other regions.
She now finds herself enjoying battles more than ever, every region she visits has a host of talented trainers to challenge, and beautiful sites to see. Life as a Pokémon trainer never ceases to thrill her.
Other:
-Lori at one time planned to apply to an art school, and has a compiled portfolio of her work. Her speciality is realistic portraiture. She still enjoys art as a casual hobby.

The letters are delivered via Pidgeots, yes, Pidgeots, the letters are delivered a week in advance, how they find the recipients of these letters is unknown, but they know who you are, and they will find you. In case how you receive the letter is something you want to put into your first post
The Sky Boat will not take too long to get to it's destination, so I'll be moving it along relatively quickly, just figured it would be a good place for all the challengers to meet up, and possibly size each-other up slightly.
As always feel free to ask me any questions about the RP and I'll do my best to clear things up.
Hope you guys are having fun with Sword and Shield, I know I'm super excited, just don't forget about the RP lol
Question: Would the Battle Masters already be at the Island, or would they have to get a slightly different letter explaining the season is open and to hurry to Veritas to get ready for the participants?

I must admit that, even though I did my best to defend the games against the hate surrounding them before release, I was somewhat nervous about how they would turn out. However, I've been watching several playthroughs of it on YouTube (I, uh, don't actually own a Switch), and it looks really good!
@Merciless Medic Battlemasters would already know when to get to the island, they just need to get there sometime before the opening ceremony. Anyone who's been to the island can actually come and go as they please to Island, the Battle Spire itself how ever is only open to challengers 2 times a year, so during its off season you can't challenge others for Glory or Prestige
@Frontier Master I was planning on having Ceres be from Galar, and I'll be making changes to reflect that once we get the ok from the Admins.
@TheWanderer the game is amazing, i never understood all the hate that the game got, being a 3D artist in the game dev. industry myself it's quite easy to see why some of the decisions were made, its funny yet really sad that the majority of people fail to understand how scope works during game dev. Pokemon is super huge, and to take on something like a brand new RPG where expectations are through the roof, its freaking insane how well Game Freak manages to pull it off every time, and this time is no different. Also I don't think people understand how strict Nintendo is with their Devs. especially for an IP that is essentially one of their main pillars, the amount of polish and attention to content they require is far beyond anything that can be compared to in the west, since the Japanese value gameplay, mechanics, and FUN (and in Nintendo's case, often times, family friendly-ness) over anything else, meanwhile in the west we've fallen into, lets make money, make good looking trailers (that are straight up lies, and we don't even have an actual game) to fool people so we can make money... its sad really. Speaking in general terms here, there are obvious exceptions but I don't think i need to say who they are lol.
@ThanosCar_The_Inevitable
It seems your post contained a bit of autoing. You can't say that the two other characters were drenched, as we don't know where they were in relation to your character, not to mention autoing is against the rules. Please change the mention of drenching the two trainers.
Ooh I sense a potential rivalry between Shadow and Liepard. 2 powerful dark types. Didn’t expect this, but I’m really interested to see how this plays out.
@Merciless Medic
just wondering are you playing Shade as if she's fairly new to being a Battlemaster? like what is her level of familiarity with Celeste and Ceres? just wondering
EDIT: by the way congrats on the baby, a bit late, but i just saw your updated note
Thank you :3 and she is kind of new, but not new enough for Celeste and Ceres to know nothing about her. Basic information about her is common knowledge, given that they want to know about her, and even how she takes care of her Pokemon and what she has is common knowledge, but the way she trains is top secret and only her and her Pokemon know about it. The only kind of information that would be slightly under wraps unless talked to with her Pokemon helpers would be in what state they come back from.
Shade would be covered in bruises and scrapes and scuff marks, while her Pokemon will come back with bruises and scrapes, if not a bit of blood on the teeth of those carnivorous Pokemon. Hydreigon comes back covered in dust, scrapes, cuts, and every now and then gashes, which have been healed to an extent. It seems as if her Hydreigon doesn't feel the pain. If Shade didn't come back as she does from the training, people would be wondering what the hell is happening behind closed doors. But it is common knowledge that she trains alongside her Pokemon, so it isn't uncommon to see her either trying to bandage herself up or going to the nurses because she had a bad burn or other such things. Whether or not she uses herself as a dummy and the extent of her more serious injuries is unknown to everyone but the nurses, herself, and her Pokemon. The nurses seem extremely worried but will not divulge in the injuries themselves, unless Shade talks too much, which she won't.
Very very nice and congrats, I'll be editing my existing one and trying again while still working on another lol
But Celeste may not need one, i'll have to revise her, made her a while back, do some overall tuning to everything.
That said, I'll be doing to re-balancing and overall tuning to all 3 of my characters now I'm getting a better feel for them, the edits shouldn't change what's already posted in the RP, but just a heads up so you guys know, only major thing is I'm cutting back Kari's Champion victories to 1 instead of 2, other stuff with Celeste and Ceres should not matter too much since its not really been spotlighted or anything
@Merciless Medic
I think you started calling Ceres a he in the post lol, it got a little confusing to read when you brought up Shade's brother, but managed to figure it out lol
just a heads up
Apologies for the lack of posts! I have been somewhat short on time. I will hopefully be much more active this coming week, until then I’ll do my best to keep up. Things do seem pretty interesting, I’m looking forward to seeing how everything plays out.
This RP seems pretty cool! I'm kinda tired of my boys getting stomped in battles, but I'm still interested! I'll try to dig around and find a character that I have that would be able to apply, but until then I'll just try to follow along.
So as of Tuesday, Galar and all of its goodies are now free game to use, just a few notes, there is no Dynamax and Gigantamax at this time since Veritas is not in the Galar region therefore we can't really do that. In the future however there is a possibility if this RP goes well and re occurs later.
Since story-line wise everything is fairly early and most of each trainer's Pokemon have yet to be officially revealed, make your edits and additions to their team now rather than later. Ceres will probably be getting most of the Galar edits to her profile and such since I was originally planning on having her be from Galar, so I'll be editing her profile accordingly and some edits to her team.
