The Dream World

Authors Note: What can I say... I was inspired to make a Pokemon fic... I hope it goes over well.

Prologue

They say that the world that we live on was created from a dream.

They call themselves humans, and anything that resembles them a humanoid. They appear to center the world around themselves, and have an undeniably strong will to survive. Their world - the one they call Earth - was in ruins, and still they made their prayers to the skies, wishing to find someone, or even something to save them from the monstrosity that they had caused themselves. Having compassion for this struggling species, we decided to finally decend from the 'heavens' to dispel whatever they called myth or fantasy.

Everything they thought to be made of dreams became a reality that day when our people came out of hiding to their rescue. Flying fire breathers, bloodsuckers, wolf men... Everything. At first, they thought our people meant to harm them. It wasn't hard to convince their already fragile minds to join us, to come with us to our world. For truly, we are a safe haven among the stars, in the center of a universe that they would not have found for perhaps millions of years.

We call our world Terrater. It is much larger than Earth, and has many of the same specifications for sustaining life. We have four suns and four moons, each sun giving off their own colorful aura, each moon able to sustain different forms of life. Some of these many forms of life have come down to the surface.

The humans have named these creatures PokeMon, because of the technology they have developed to capture and train these creatures. They name the PokeMon after the things they say, and name certain moves they can learn after the way they look during battle. They have even created technology for the PokeMon to learn some of the moves they couldn't during normal evolution. Our people have joined in on this wondrous adventure, seeing how it would be good to have these other beasts as loyal companions.

As for Earth, eventually it deteriorated back into the space dust from which it was created. The humans were very upset about this, as they had called it their home for so long. Being so self-centered and ambitious, they believed that they owned the planet.

Using a humorous figure of their speech, we believe that it is only appropriate to say that the planet owned them in return.

Four suns? I'd hate to think of the physics involved in that. Interesting story premiss as well, should be fun to see where this goes. I must ask though, do many humans know of (or remember, given the times involved) Earth or is it little more than a fable that contempary children have heard? Perhaps I'm thinking too much into this.

Question though, why have OOC at the beginning? I think 'Author's Note' is fine or is it a rule of the Fiction Forums? (Obviously I'm not expecting a reply here, don't want to thread hijack.)

I always theorized humans came from another planet or alternate universe. I'm glad someone else shares my thoughts on the matter.

This sounds like it could become quite interesting.

Authors Note: Yeah, I am officially too used to RPing to have written OOC at the beginning.
The physics of my planet are lost to me as well. Let's just say it works somehow and be done with it.
Things will become more clear as I continue writing.

Chapter One: Beginning

What our people call the Ayx region was nothing if not large. There were certain areas with different weather conditions year round. The landscapes differed from tall grass to barren wastelands, and some islands across the sea. The sights here were by far the most breathtaking, and sometimes intimidating due to the sheer size of it all.

Some say that in olden times when Pokemon started littering the planet, people started their adventures when they were as young as ten. This bar was raised over the years as education was put first over most things. The age to start now was as little as fifteen in some special cases. This didn't happen to be one of them.

Pale, delicate hands brushed pink strands of hair backwards, pushing it up into a ponytail. A small, blue headband with a pink bow was placed to push back the stray bangs that hung loosely, better exposing the face of the young woman. Small lips pulled into a small, shy smile as the girl gazed back at her reflection over the edges of her glasses, with eyes that seemed to be a deep, crystalline blue, sparkling with happiness. The girl flattened out the collar of her light pink shirt, then presses some of the creases of her jeans down, trying to look as clean as possible. This was the day after all... the day she would finally start her adventure.

She slid on some white running shoes and a backpack - that was also blue and pink themed - and set off on her way. Soon, the large, intricately designed laboratory stood in front of her, and she shook slightly where she stood. The red hue of the afternoon soon shone brightly against everything, making her hair seem darker than it was. The building was much larger than her expectations of it, but big buildings weren't exactly new... Perhaps I'm just really nervous. She thought this to herself silently, still standing still in awe.

WHAM!

She nearly fell over when the person bumped into her, as she was a small person, and as delicate as she seemed to be. She looked towards the other person, bewildered, and took that brief time to look them over. Long black hair cascaded over the feminine form before her, adorned in what appeared to be a dark blue tunic and skirt, accompanied by an emerald green cloak and leather boots. Light green eyes peered out from under the black mess of hair, and pale ears pointed out of it as well. She appeared to be an elf, thus though looking young she might be much older.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there." Her voice came in dark tones, like rich velvet. The woman with the dark hair pushed it out of her face some more, absentmindedly starting to braid some of it, as if she was thinking about something in great detail. Finally, she spoke again, an embarrassed look about her.
"If you don't mind me asking... what color is your hair?"

The human girl blinked and tilted her head slightly, in a confused way.
"It's... pink. Can't you see that?" Her voice came timidly, shyly, bubbly and somewhat childish.

The darker haired woman shook her head slightly, a small smile coming to her lips.
"I'm a bit colorblind... but you seem to like that color a lot, as your shirt appears the same way to me." She kept looking embarrassed, a slight blush on her cheeks.
"I'm Nerezza, by the way. Nerezza Falassion." Nerezza stuck out her hand towards the human girl, knowing it was how they signified a greeting, perhaps the start of a new friendship.

The girl with the pink hair looked at the hand, hesitantly placing one of her own in it and shaking timidly.
"I'm Elizabeth... Aelo." She managed to stammer this out, along with a question.
"Falassion... does that mean you're related to that blond person at the House of Knives?"

Nerezza smiled and chuckled softly.
"Yeah, that would be my sister Merenwen. We're twins, though we don't look it in the least." Unknown to Elizabeth, she smiled darkly inwardly to herself at this. And I'd prefer to keep it that way...

Elizabeth nodded in understanding, looking back to the laboratory with dismay. Nerezza followed her gaze, looking at it herself, before looking back at her supposed new friend. She seemed to notice how nervous Elizabeth was about this, but underneath hit all was the same desire to start her adventure that Nerezza had. Nerezza cleared her throat slightly and asked a simple question.

"Want to go in together?"

Elizabeth looked at Nerezza, surprised slightly. She feel a slight blush creep onto her cheeks as she silently nodded, edging herself forwards with Nerezza towards their new goal. She was grateful that Nerezza had suggested it, as she felt she was too scared to really go in on her own...

She could already see this blossoming into a nice friendship.

*insert random rant about Elves*

Despite my dislike of Elves, that was nice. In some places the description felt a bit forced, but still it's bad for your style. Also your main character reminds of a pick 'n' mix stall for some reason :)

I wish to learn more about this parallel Pokeverse. Are there Pokevampires? Pokemon that have lycanthropy? That would be weird, very weird. Heh, I'll stop asking questions and wait for the next chapter.

Authors Note: Elizabeth is only one of the main characters... There will most likely be a larger group later on, or chapters with a focus on one of the other characters. Thanks for the feedback.
As for your questions... we'll see.

Chapter Two: Choosing

In the Ayx Region, the lab was directed by a woman named Professor Vaelos. She always insisted that everyone - or thing - call her by her first name, which was Violet. It appeared to also be her favourite color as she usually sported a dark purple shirt and black pants under her lab coat.

She was also aptly named, as some violet dragon wings stuck out of her back. Also, what looked to be glimmering, amethyst eyes peered out from beneath her black locks of hair and darkly colored shades. This signified that she was one of the Shadow people, so named that they were created from the shadows of living beings. The similarities between her and someone of great importance were astounding, but the difference could be seen easily because a lot of things were darker than her counterpart.

Today, she was in a somewhat cheery mood, which was very strange as Shadow people rarely show their emotions visually except through their signature pair of shades, each one shaped differently to compliment the face of the wearer. Her glasses changed from dark purple to a bright yellow in a matter of seconds when she learned that some new trainers would be coming.

Choosing a starter was very hard for some people, as there was always such a variety in the Ayx Region. There were fire types, grass types, and water types of course. But there were also some normal types, and an electric type, too. It wasn't exactly easy to mull all these choices over in ones head... Or so it would for some trainers.

A male figure was already there at the lab, his mind set on his choice. A pale hand reached out and pointed to an orangey-red lizard with a flaming tail and a peach belly, named Charmander. The small creature looked up curiously with dark blue eyes at what would become his trainer.

The man was dark in many aspects - infact it seemed that the only thing that wasn't dark was his skin. He wore a long, black trench coat, and. black boots that had somewhat of a gothic feel to them. He had short back hair as well, his bangs falling nicely away from his eyes that glowed a chocolate brown color. This man seemed almost vampiric, and on this world, that wouldn't exactly be a surprise.

The two girls came up behind him just as Violet was handing him the PokeBall and a black PokeDex with white highlights. Violet beamed at the newcomers, and the man turned to reguard them warily. Violet quickly turned back to the man for a few moments, and opened her mouth to say something.
"Good luck on your journey, Max." Her voice came soft and calm, and she smiled at him cheerfully before turning back towards the girls.
"Welcome to the lab, girls. I suspect you're here to start out as well?"

Elizabeth shyly nodded her head, while Nerezza beamed right back.
"We sure are. I'm Nerezza, and this is Elizabeth." Nerezaa motioned towards Elizabeth when she said her name, warily reguarding the man named Max in return.

"Well, welcome!" Violet cheerfully greeted them and motioned them over towards a table, where all the PokeBalls lay and the PokeDex's, too. She presses a button, and small displays came up, showing the different PokeMon. All the while Max watched curiously, to see what sort of companions these two girls would choose.

Right off the bat, Elizabeth noticed a small cat with pink attributes. She gaped at it slightly, a bit shy to ask about it, but somehow with Nerezza around, she could feel her confidence building.
"I'd like that one... The pink cat." Violet smiled pleasantly and nodded.
"I figured you were one for pink. That would be Skitty, a normal type that only has one evolution... But Delcatty has more of a purple theme going on, so I'm not sure if you would appreciate it." Violet said all of this matter-of-factly, giving Elizabeth the PokeBall and a pink PokeDex with blue highlights. Violet apparently picked up on these things very well.

Nerezza seemed to be looking at each one thoroughly, her eyes flicking from one to the other, as if searching... Elizabeth figured she may be trying to find one who's colors she could see properly. There were quite a few, but one in particular caught her eye. It was a small, blue, penguin-like creature, one which Nerezza knew the final evolution of. She envisioned the larger, elegant bird in her mind, smiling slightly.
"The cute penguin, please." Violet smiled and nodded in understanding at this.
"That would be Piplup, a water PokeMon. You seem to know the final evolution already, so I'm not going to bother explaining." Violet either seemed to have some creepy omniscience, or could read minds. Either way, she handed the PokeBall to Nerezza, and a Pokedex, themed blue, with black highlights, and it was then that it was certain that Violet could read minds.

Violet said good luck to the two girls, and they turned to find Max still standing there. He seemed intrigued by the two of them as a whole, smiling softly, two pearly white fangs slipping out of their own accord. His chocolate brown eyes danced with happiness and something else behind it... but it was a something unknown to wither of them.

"My name is Maximilian Stolmen. But most people just call me Max." His voice came darkly, but not in the usual rich, haunting tones that a vampire would have. He bowed slightly to the two women, a graceful, friendly move by most vampires, and they both bowed back. He then held out his hand towards Elizabeth, to shake it, his eyes meeting hers in a somewhat amused gaze. Elizabeth shyly shook it, oblivious to what seemed to be behind his eyes.

"I would be most interested to travel with the both of you. You seem like interesting characters." He smiled more widely, showing of all his pointy, white teeth. The two looked at each other, as if debating silently, then they turned back towards Max, smiling. Elizabeth nodded slightly, timidly speaking towards him.

"Yes... you may come with us."
