This may just be me, but doesn't it feel like there are a lot more than 5 posts per day per person?

Nah. It's generally the time zone changes that make it feel that way (which, if the person has the time set right, can be noted by viewing their profiles). It DOES help to decrease confusion for other players when people number their posts, though, regardless of it they themselves can keep track of them... *hint, hint, nudge, nudge* ;)
