The Paragons - Act I Discussion

Real Name: Henry Carley
Alias: Lucky Fighter
Age: 28
Age/Gender: M
Race: Human
Alignment: anti hero
Personality: he's very selfish, as a pro kleptomaniac, he's constantly after money, even sometimes stealing from big banks.
Flaws: he's extremely money hungry, his power basically depends on his luck
Powers: His power is to be able to summon anything, but of course, that doesn't mean he can always use it, plus he only has 3-4 options to choose from in escape scenarios or fight scenarios, also , just because he can summon it doesn't mean he can use it, he wouldn't be able to drive a tank out of no where (he wouldn't be able to get one tho)
Backstory: he has a very much bad history, having broken into numerous banks and successfully stolen multiple popular jewels, he's only gotten caught twice, both times he escaped, they never even saw him leave.

Henry stickmin?

I need to know what the bank looks like and who I can talk to, I want to know what happened.
alright, well, you have autonomy on some of that, like what the bank looks like and whatnot, but i'll PM you some info about what went down, though nothing much until you potentially interrogate Cretecon.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for superheroes. I'll probably make another character, but here's a villain for now.

Real Name: Janice Whittle
Alias: Necrodytis
Age/Gender: 23, Female
Race: Caucasian, though external factors have turned her skin a pallid grey...
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Personality: Cold and unfeeling, Necrodytis works efficiently and quickly. She plays into this- using her reputation as heartless and cruel to strike fear into people. Everything from her ghastly appearance and frankly over-designed armor is made to do exactly this. Those caught in her wake suffer debilitating injuries and almost certainly a fear of running into her once more. Her entire career seems to thrive on fear to work.
Yet Janice Whittle is nothing more than a mild mannered office worker. Occasionally chatty, but often declines an offer to go out for drinks or spend the night out. She's noted to be a very nice woman, if a bit odd at times. She is almost the textbook definition of a good worker, and certainly not someone who one would expect to be moonlighting as a vicious mercenary.
These two personalities are not all that distant from one another. One is never far from a conversation with Necrodytis whilst talking to Janice Whittle, and the same applies for Janice Whittle whilst somehow speaking to Necrodytis. It's an odd juxtaposition, one trying desperately to convince you she is inhuman and monstrous, whilst the other is doing the exact opposite. Essentially, Necrodytis isn't as inhuman as she seems- but Janice Whittle is not as human as she'd like you to think.
Flaws: Despite her powerful ability, and her armor giving her a physical strength boost, she isn't the absolute strongest in close ranged combat. Her power mostly relies on her infecting her opponent, backing up, and then going in for a killing blow. She also has absolutely zero range game, and not to mention Janice is almost in constant danger of having her identity discovered thanks to her unique skin color.
Powers: Her blood contains a highly contagious parasite, that causes rapid necrosis wherever it spreads. Due to the fact it's constrained in her blood, she needs to use external methods to get it in other bodies however. And due to the speed of the necrosis, the parasite cannot spread very far once it has infected someone. So if something like an arm or leg gets infected, it wouldn't end up spreading and killing the infected after a few minutes. That being said, it would absolutely rot away and probably be rendered useless...

She's also skilled at hand to hand combat, using a pair of gauntlets with sharpened edges, laced with her blood. But that's less impressive, isn't it?
Rumors spread about six years back, of a girl who was always ill. Rarely she would leave the house, leaving her isolated and lonely in the world. But one day, she found out why- her darling father, who had always taken care of her, had actually been poisoning her to keep her ill. To keep his little girl safe and in the nest. The girl broke down, realizing how much of her life had been wasted. And in her grief, she fell terribly ill. Her father had nothing to do with this illness- Doctors were continually stumped by her worsening condition. It's said by the end of it, the girl's skin had gone a horrid grey color, eyes sunken, and blood turning an deeper shade of red. In desperation, she clawed at herself- hoping that beneath her skin was something. And then in anger, she turned against her father, scratching him with the same bloodied fingernails.
He had been missing for three days when they found him stocked up in a closet of his own home. Oddly enough, his body had strange patches of pure rot, as if the flesh had simply rapidly decayed. It didn't make sense, not to any medical examiner. The prime suspect was his daughter, who had disappeared along with him. But other than the rot, his body showed no signs of damage, indicating he somehow rotted alive...
The girl was long gone by then. Living on the streets of various cities, spending what remained of her paltry funds, accumulated from her father, she put out a desperate bids for the one thing her new condition could give her, to murder in an almost untraceable way. She had done it to her father- She could do it to others.
And so she did. Again and again. She gained her reputation- "The Rotting Menace", "Deathbringer", though she did not take these titles in stride. She did however take the copious funds this career had given her. Deep down, she wished she could have some sense of normalcy...And so she did just that. A new identity. Fraudulent medical records. And a lot of makeup. Janice Whittle was her name now, and while it took a few tries to get a grip on "normalcy", she had successfully integrated her way into just that. For the first time in several years, she felt "human".
But she could not reject her true self entirely. A second identity was formed- "Necrodytis". To embrace who she felt she had become, the deadly rot that lay within her. Necrodytis was imposing, dark. Followed by fog, blood, a heavy cape. She worked as a mercenary now, to strike down targets, shake down banks and casinos that pissed off the wrong people, and so on...Yes, Janice felt secure in her life, in her views, for the first time in a very long time.
As far as the Paragons go, Necrodytis doesn't care for them any more than a simple annoyances. But if they show up, she will probably ditch to save her own skin- and keep her identity up. She has more confidence against the police and various vigilantes.

The Dark Fairy

Well, the noble family kept her pretty close to their chests, but if she hung around there long enough he could have noticed her.

I’m perfectly fine with it, just clarifying she was a secret, so she would have had to figured it out.

Or he could have meet her and just never known about the amulet

You know it man!

Anyways, I hope I didn't go too far in the starter post. I assume the time being evening is fine, but obviously I can change stuff if needed. And night, I promise that Necrodytis isn't going to kill Hitori immediately (Or at all). I'm not that much of a joyless boob lol

It's awfully hard to pass up a good ol' superpower RP, isn't it? I'm not as creative as I'd like, so the best I can do is putting a limitation on an already popular ability, I guess

Real Name: Shuzo Takeshi
Alias: "Sparkblade"
Age/Gender: 33 / M
Race: East Asian; of Japanese descent
Alignment: Neutral Good
Personality: Shuzo's personality tends to be more "closed off"; acting as an underground hero, of sorts, he prefers to stay isolated, working his night job alone. He is also headstrong and stubborn, insisting on completing his work through his own efforts without the help of anyone else. However, he is required to put on a facade outside of hero work; his attitude becomes the slightest bit brighter, and he may occasionally engage in brief small talk with coworkers from his part-time career as a restaurant waiter.
Powers: Shuzo is able to conjure and manipulate electricity, but he cannot discharge it very far; the farthest reach his lightning has is maybe a few inches from his palm. However, he is able to send the current through anything that conducts electricity, hence the use of his weapons to amplify his ability. Shuzo can also manipulate the electricity to surround and course through his body, increasing his power, agility, and reaction time. He wields a daisho, a pair of Japanese blades with one shorter than the other.
Flaws: Because the range on his ability is limited, Shuzo is more of a close-quarters fighter and, as a result, has trouble fighting against opponents with more ranged attacks. His obstinate resolve to fight alone also proves to be a hindrance, often getting him in rather difficult situations.
Born an only child to humble electric power station workers, Shuzo quickly became an outcast at school who was shunned solely for his dislike of the Paragons. Even aside from the relentless attention they received from the media, he disagreed not with the good that they did, but the publicity that they seemed to fight to maintain. Nearly everyone wanted to be like the Paragons and join their group , but Shuzo could see through the selfish hearts of most supers he knew, silently rebuking aspiring heroes who were only in it for the celebrity status. In an attempt to escape from the stress of his classmates' animosity that had persisted for years throughout elementary school, he decided to accompany his understanding parents to their workplace, which always goes well, obviously.

It didn't, and in what was said to be a tragic accident, nearly the entire station exploded, apparently killing everyone onsite. Shielded by the arms of his parents, however, Shuzo survived, escaping the wreckage alive, but now alone. A sushi restaurant manager found him sleeping on the streets and, regarding him as merely a homeless child and not a homeless, unnamed child who had just survived one of the strangest disasters in New York City's history, took the boy in, feeding him, funding his academics at a different school, and offered him a job once he was of age. Shuzo discovered his ability a few days after he was taken in and, not wanting his father figure to abandon him out of fear, decided to keep his power a secret. However, his resolve to do good never faded, and after moving out to a new apartment once he graduated from college, he immediately committed himself to a life of heroism, working from outside the Paragons' radar to do his part and reduce crime within the city as Sparkblade a media-proclaimed moniker for which he didn’t really care much. Since his introduction to the public eye, no one has been able to put a name to the hooded face, not even the world-renowned hero association led by Patriot; the only proof of his existence is the burning of lightning into the concrete where he enters and leaves the crime scene, and the statements of those he captures.

Please let me know if there's anything I should fix!

Real Name: Nikolai Akutni
Alias: Ground Zero
Age/Gender: 36, Male
Race: Human, Eastern European
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Personality: Nikolai is cunning, fast talking, and silver-tongued. Over the years he's learned how to talk his way out of or into any situation, and as such he comes off as incredibly charismatic. Even so, Nikolai's charisma is more of a tool at his disposal rather than a consistent personality trait, a claim corroborated by those few people that maintain close relationships with him. His coworkers are particularly wary of him because, as they put it, "When he's switched on, you'll say anything to him, and he'll never forget a word." Nikolai's analytical mind borders on photographic, which lends itself particularly well to his profession.
Personality Flaws: Nikolai's silver tongue has earned him a reputation outside of Hell's Kitchen as a trickster, but the people within his community view him fondly.
Power Flaws: Nikolai's momentum must be manually activated and deactivated, which is done through concentration. Years of practice have led to Nikolai's ability to near-instantly activate his Momentum, but if he is caught off guard and attacked relentlessly he will not have the focus to activate it. Momentum also burns through an insane amount of calories, so Nikolai is forced to consume a lot of extra food before and after using his ability.
Powers: Momentum - When he begins a repeatable action, Nikolai's movements become faster, and the force behind them grows stronger. For example, if he were to throw a series of punches, the first would be just a normal punch. The second would be slightly faster and slightly stronger, as would the third, so on and so forth until his fists become a whirlwind capable of battering a stone wall into rubble.
Backstory:
Born into a poor family of third generation com-bloc immigrants, Nikolai was raised fairly well. Both his parents loved him, and worked very hard to ensure that there was always food in the fridge and heat in the vents in their small apartment. Unlike most children, Nikolai was home schooled, so while his parents were away at work his grandparents gave him his education. As a retired teacher, it fell on his grandmother's shoulders to teach Nikolai all of the usual subjects.

While he learned the usual math, english, and history that a traditionally-schooled student would, it was the lessons Nikolai learned from his grandfather that made him the man he is today. The lessons that taught him to watch out for his fellow man, and to distrust any source of authority that would keep them down. Years upon years of intensive discussion and philosophizing with his grandfather sculpted his ideology, and Nikolai attributes his decision to become an investigative journalist to those discussions.

After moving out of his parents' apartment when he turned 18, Nikolai did what he saw as his duty and enlisted in the U.S. Army. After serving a single term overseas in an Eastern European conflict zone, Nikolai was singled out by his commanding officers for a new opportunity with the CIA as a spy in enemy territory because of his incredible memory and charisma. Nikolai served four years behind enemy lines, infiltrating terrorist cells and gathering enough information to either dismantle them from the inside or to help coordinate a military assault.

Nikolai gradually grew disenfranchised with the military as he saw the devastation caused by the fighting in the corner of Eastern Europe to which he was sent. As soon as he was able, Nikolai severed his contract with the CIA, and returned to Hell's Kitchen to make a new life for himself. The Hell's Kitchen he returned to wasn't the one he had grown up in, however, and in the eight years since his last visit a violent mob had moved in. Nikolai took it upon himself to dismantle it in the same way he had dismantled terrorist cells on his deployment.

Nikolai's dismantling of the mob was twofold: He managed to join the organization, only to report any information he found regarding the mob's cruel actions to a local newspaper under the pseudonym "Ground Zero". Once public hatred for the mob was at an all time high, Nikolai began to hit the mob's safe houses. Armed with several black-market guns and his cunning, Nikolai single handedly killed or drove out every last member of the mob in Hell's Kitchen.

With his mission complete, Nikolai founded his own newspaper, the Kitchen Inquirer, where he employs a handful of people. The anti-authority lessons that his grandfather instilled in him show themselves in the articles that Nikolai's newspaper runs. While they do run articles on local occurrences, the focus of the Inquirer is on criticizing the heroes that run their society and the vigilantes that police their streets.

This character is meant to be an antagonist to the heroes, but not a villain.
