Open The Uglies

Greetings, all, and welcome to the Marukawa Pokémon Centre. We are not a pokemon centre in the traditional sense, oh no, we are a special facility, which specialises in finding homes for abandoned and traumatised pokemon. Pokémon too badly injured, or disabled, to go back to the wild, and so must be given to competent, loving trainers to ensure their survival. But for every ten eevees, and cubchoos, and charmanders who leave our doors, there are at least ten pokemon who are left behind. Pokémon whom nobody wants, because they deem them ugly, or useless. Rattatas. Furrets. Trubbishes. These poor pokemon never seem to get taken, but we are determined to find them loving homes. Won't you come, and take one home today?

(Rules:

1.) This RP is about conventionally ugly pokemon finding homes. So that means I want you to use unpopular, or unattractive pokemon. No eevees, traditional starters, riolu, or pseudo-legendaries allowed.

2.) You can choose whether or not you are adopted in this. However, if you want to adopt somebody else's character, please ask them first.

3.) Aside from this, standard RP rules apply.)

(Bio sheet (You can either be a pokemon, or a human looking to adopt a pokemon):

"Ew! What an ugly little thing! Get it away!"

Those harsh words still rung in Cinnamon's ears, even though it had been ages since she'd heard them. She heard things like that every day, and only for the simple crime of wanting to find an owner. She knew that she wasn't much; a lowly little zigzagoon, who would never evolve into anything good, but she'd hoped that now, after six months of living in a shelter, she'd have at least caught somebody's eye. A home, and a loving trainer...That was all that she wanted.

She barely reacted, as one of the well-meaning staff pet her.

"Don't worry, Cinnamon," she reassured, "Someone will take you home someday."

Cinnamon snorted. Someday...Why couldn't that day be now?

Name:Beep

Species: Qwilfish

Gender:Boy

Beep sighed. The aquarium was never big enough to fit anyone's needs, much less his. Swimming out of the little skull he lived in, he looked out into the lobby. There were many trainers there, but Beep had no chance with any of them. He saw one of the employees pet a zigzagoon. "I wish i could be pet." He said to himself. He had been there for years, enough to know almost all of the ins and outs of the place. But, he still had a feeling of not knowing anything.

Name: Bandit

Species: Scraggy

Gender: Male

A man walks in the centre and tosses him in a cage "What did we say about running Scruff" The man said with a disgusted face "So ugly" he said kicking the cage Bandit flew back in the cage and tears roll down his cheeks "Stupid centre" he looked next to him and saw a Zigzagoon "H-hey" he muttered wiping the tears from his face "Whats you're name"

A ton of trainers flood the centre

Today might be my lucky day he thought

Beep saw the whole scene unfold. He'd seen it a million times. But this time was different. He had no idea what the pokemon was. (srsly what is a scruffy) Intrigued, he pressed his face against the glass. But alas, he couldn't see anything through the cloud of trainers.

Name: Feathers
Species: Pidgey
Gender: Male
Gender Interested In: Female
Appearance: Feathers' left wing was broken in an accident that occurred. The accident is the reason why Feathers can no longer fly. In addition, the feathers on Feathers' left wing were ripped off, making him look ugly.
Personalty: Feathers is shy, and reclusive. He doesn't like being in the company of others most of the time.
Backstory: Feathers used to live happily in the forest, until a debilitating injury occurred, making him unable to fly, and making him look ugly. People used to throw stones at him from the sides of roads and trails, causing Feather's shy personality.
Moves: Feathers cannot perform any moves, due to his wing injuries, meaning he is completely in-effective in any sort of battle.

IC:
Feathers was near the facility, but a little bit away. He was finding berries near a hiking trail that seemed to be quite popular for young trainers at this time of year. Some young and reckless kids started throwing stones at Feathers. Feathers couldn't fly because of the injury on his left wing, so he ran away, and ended up in front of the doors to the facility. He somehow managed to get in. "This looks nice..." It looked much nicer than the wilderness outside, so he explored a bit. Eventually staff members found him, and they decided to take him in to the facility. They gently plopped Feathers down in a little pen next to the two other Pokemon. He was scared, because he was just lifted up without any warning. He was also very hungry. He looked over to see the Scrafty, and the Qwillfish. "Uhh... hello? Where is this?" Feathers asked the two Pokemon, trying to hide his injured wing. It was scary for Feathers, but there weren't any rocks being thrown at him, that was good.

Other:
Yay! Finally, a role play that I'm interested in. We'll see what happens...

Had to clear out some SPAM and double posting. Remember: Posts that are pure OOC belong no where in the RP forums - that's what the discussion boards are for. Also, keep the rest of our RP forum rules in mind as you continue posting. Third person, past tense (not present tense), story format and all that.

Cinnamon barely reacted to the sound of the other pokemon's voices, but still, she felt it rude not to answer.

Lifting her head, the zigzagoon answered, "I'm Cinnamon, and this is Marukawa Pokemon Centre. This is supposed to be a place where they help pokemon like us, who can't go back to the wild find homes, but..."

She tailed off, unable to even think about the prospect of a home. It was never going to happen to her. No one in their right mind would want a useless little zigzagoon like her...

"This is the Marukawa Pokémon Centre," He replied to the pidgey. "A wonderful place where each and every pokemon can find a loving home." He finished, totally not just reading the sign in the lobby. "I've seen a lot of pokemon come and go here." He said, almost talking to himself. "Anyway, my name is Beep. What's yours?" He politely asked the pidgey.

"Uhhh... thank you. I c-call myself 'Feathers'". A staff member came down to the Pidgey, and tossed some bird-seed into his cage, and they put a nest-like pillow in the cage. "We need to come back to have the veterinarian come check on you." The human said. He would have to be looked at, and he didn't want to expose his wing, but he forgot about that, and turned to see the person leaving, exposing his disfigured wing.

OOC:
What do you call Pokemon doctor? I don't actually know...

(Read the rules. Eevees are not allowed. And please don't ignore me for no reason @BeepLettuceBee and @JamesDaFluffyOtter . It's really rude. You will be asked to leave if you do that again.)

Cinnamon sank in her pen, hurt that even here, she was ignored, and cast aside in favour of other pokemon.

She glanced up at the staff as they came round, passing bowls and jars and all sorts of other things, before everyone went off on their lunch break.

OOC:
Not saying anything doesn't quite equal ignoring. It's hard to actually have a conversation while listening to someone else, a little bit away. (Beep was talking to me, he asked me a question.) Anyway, let's continue, I'm not salty.

Can I have another character? He would be a human.

IC:
A staff member suddenly picked Feathers up. He resisted a bit, to being taken away, but they got him into the vet's office. A veterinarian looked at Feather's injured wing. It looked horrible, well at least to the vet. The vet put a cast on feathers, and told the staff to feed him a specific kind of food. They put Feathers back. Feathers plopped down into his little pillow, trying to hide the cast on his wing.

OOC: Sorry, but i don't really know what you're talking about. I'll try better next time on whatever though. EDIT: Oohhh, sorry about that, heh. I don't think the pidgey was placed next to you though........ (Is that what you're talking about?)

IC:
Beep looked back over at the Zigzagoon. "Sorry 'bout that. What were we talking about again?" He asked the zigzagoon with a smile. "I'm Beep, by the way."

(Yup)

"This place. Marukawa Pokemon Centre, where pokemon go to find their forever homes...Or so they say," Cinnamon said miserably, ears drooping, "But it's been six months already. No one's ever gonna want me..."

Feathers heard Cinnamon whine about how she might not be adopted. Feathers normally didn't like to talk much, but he decided to talk to her, but Beep's aquarium was kind of in the way. "It's a lot worse, just stop whining." He thought that, but he'd never say that to her. Feathers glanced over at his wing. The cast didn't seem permanent in a way. The vet did tell him he'd have to go back, but he didn't know why. Beep and Cinnamon didn't know about Feather's wing yet, so he tried to hide them.

OOC:
To clear it up, Beep's little aquarium is in between Feathers, and Cinnamon, so Feathers and Cinnamon can't really talk much. Don't think I'm ignoring you, it's just that you actually can't talk to me.

"No need to hide it," Beep said, staring off into space. "Don't worry about it. We've all got something.'' Beep said, sucking in water. He puffed up, only to have a jet of water shoot out of a hole in his side. "I've been here for years. They say they can't patch it up. At least enough for me to stay here, though." He said, slowly and almost to himself. He'd shared his story to millions of pokemon. Beep felt he was a glimmer of hope, that things would be okay. He learned to doubt his feelings. Beep shook his head. "Any way, i know with some luck that we'll make it through."

IC:
Oh well, Feathers couldn't hide it forever, but at least Beep didn't judge Feathers for it. "Thanks. The doctors told me that I needed to go back, but they already put this cast on me. What else would they do?" Feathers shook his head, he didn't expect an answer, because that was a hard question. He didn't want to tell Beep how his wing injury almost ruined his life, or even how he got the injury. That was the worst day of his life...

"Well, they'll probably take the cast on and off, just to check how it's going." Beep said, turning to Feathers. "Then, after that, they'll probably fix your feathers, Feathers." Beep joked. "Still after, you'll have to learn to fly again. Then, finally, you'll stay here for a couple weeks in hopes you'll find a home." I've probably seen it too much. Beep thought.

"Oh." Feathers didn't expect Beep to know who to answer that question. "I wonder why they didn't just say what was going to happen." As Feathers said that, a woman with a blue, almost see-through jacket came to talk with one of the other staff. She was also wearing something over her hair, and there was something to cover her face. "We're going to need an X-Ray of that wing." Was all Feathers could here. He didn't know what an X-Ray was, or what was going to happen to him.

"Mmm. First, they didn't want to worry you. Your welcome. Second, i'm guessing you don't know what an X-Ray is. Me neither, but i heard they put you in a small room, and want you to stay really still." Beep said, chewing on some moss. He swam over to his little skull, said "I'm goin' to take a nap, wake me when you're back."

A bit later, he was taken to the same area he was earlier, they took out a needle, which frightened him. He tried to resist a bit, but he figured that it would help him. The needle hurt, and then it didn't. He felt tired all of a sudden, and then he couldn't see anything.

He woke up in his little pillow, high on the anesthesia. He didn't know where he was, and what everything was. His wing looked different, but he couldn't feel different. There was a pile of food, and a small toy thing in front of him. He ate the food, and took the toy to the pillow, he forgot that everyone could see what he was doing.

OOC:
I just ordered my edits to make what you said fit more. Now post to this! (Sorry for making a huge edit just as you post.)

OOC: i have no idea what you're talking about, but it's alright with me i guess

IC:
Beep awoke to the sound of Feathers being put back in his kennel(?). He noticed Feathers was high, so he thought, I'm gonna mess with him. "But how?" He asked himself, just loud enough for Feathers to hear. Hoping for a reaction, he looked towards Feathers.

FroakiesFrubbles

Feathers heard Beep, but because of the drugs, he couldn't put this information together. He looked at Beep, and didn't know why Beep was there. Feathers started humming to himself, still not knowing that his future self would be embarrassed. He pressed down on the toy, which made a loud squeaky noise. He was startled, and jumped back. He hit himself against the wall of the kennel (I'm just going to call it that now.). He was fine. He just was a bit insane from the drugs.

Beep was amused until Feathers started humming. He had heard that tune before. With a sudden headache, he tried to make sense of the song. I've heard that before. Racking his brain, he didn't notice the comedic happenings he caused. Humming the tune over and over, he tried to ask high Feathers about it. "Where did you hear that song?"

"I made it up!" Of course Feathers actually didn't, it's just that he couldn't remember where he heard it from. He started to come down from the anesthesia, and so he could start to make sense of the world. He realized he was doing things that he would consider embarrassing, and stopped doing anything. He looked over at Beep. "Man, that was weird..." He had never experienced being high like that before. He looked at his wing. It wasn't in a cast, but it was bandaged with gauze, and he could just barely see stitches. They freaked him out, but he didn't say anything to Beep.

Beep squinted at Feathers, who was just coming out of being high. He didn't believe Feathers about making that up, because he had heard it before. The sun was making a shadow of the shuppet the employees put outside the window, so he figured it must be sundown. "Welp, i'm going to bed. Day 1531.". He said the last part to himself, just so he could count the days. "See ya in the morning." Beep said to Feathers, as he swam back into his little skull.

"Oh, it's late already." Feathers could've sworn it was just midday. He plopped down on the pillow, and tried to fall asleep, but his wing ached. He figured it would heal faster with sleep, and so he fell asleep, or tried to at least. He store at his wing, which again he could see the stitches. Today was both good and bad in his mind. He arrived here, but his wing... He was too busy sleeping to continue thinking about that.

OOC:
And now nothing happens because it is night...

Cinnamon lay awake, as the staff began shutting up shop, and the last pokemon left with their new owner. It was a glameow, and Cinnamon wept bitterly, as she was carried away in a beautiful basket.

"Will that ever be me?" she said aloud, sighing, before she fell asleep.

-----------------

The next morning began as usual. The pokemon were fed, groomed, and then the doors opened, and potential owners were let in, to look at the pokemon.

"Rise and shine, buckaroos! Today might be your lucky day!" Beep yelled, as he always did. He tried to live up to his feelings, but doubted them still. Is that even possible? Beep didn't know. "How's the wing, Feathers?" Beep asked, trying to lighten the mood. his mood, anyway. How would Feathers' condition cheer me up? I dunno. Beep smiled. "Or should i say, Audino?"

Feathers woke up, he felt a little dizzy, but that probably wasn't something to worry about. He heard Beep's question, and looked at his wing. He only just noticed now that it looked straighter. It used to look crooked. The wing didn't feel sore now, but he still would have to wait to get the bandages off to be able to use it. "Good morning. I'm looking much better, thanks for asking." He went to go eat the food that the staff threw in.

"Another day, another...Well, I wouldn't say, 'dollar,' Cinnamon began, glancing around the room. Staff were talking to porential owners left and right, as the newest arrivals poured in. One of them was a shiny leafeon. It'd be gone within the hour, Cinnamon was sure

Feathers didn't really notice the trainers adopting Pokemon, because he didn't really care about being adopted. He didn't even come here for a long-term reason, he was just running away from something. He felt dizzy again, and a little bit nauseous, but he was still fine. There were a few trainers to look at him, and say hi, but no-one adopted him. Feathers kind of liked this place.

Beep looked over the sticker outside of his tank, as he did a million times before. He couldn't read human, but he knew it was something like 'not up for adoption', because pretty much everyone had tapped on the glass before. Beep has still enjoyed seeing every new face, even if they tapped on his tank.

Cinnamon lay bored in her pen, until some little girl bounded over to her, starry-eyed and smiling. She looked like she was about to burst with happiness, as she knelt down, all ready to scoop the little zigzagoon up...

But then, she saw the ten-week old vulpix cub in the pen behind Cinnamon. And she went for that instead.

"Typical," Cinnamon muttered.

(Was just at a Halloween Party! WHOOP WHOOP!)
Feathers started to feel more and more dizzy, so he plopped down on his pillow to get some rest. He saw the girl almost choose Cinnamon, and felt sorry for Cinnamon, but Feathers didn't really know Cinnamon, so he didn't feel that sad. He didn't even know why getting adopted was such a big deal. He noticed a sticker on the fence of his cage/kennel/pen. He didn't know what it said, but it did not matter.

(WHOOP)

Beep noticed the sticker also, and tried to comment on it. "Ah yes. That sticker is for the pokemon that aren't up for adoption. Take a look around, you might find another one of those stickers." Beep quickly looked around to check if there were any. He saw one and he sighed in relief. Beep then turned to Cinnamon, and wanted to cheer her up. "well, at least you got a chance. That's all that matters." Beep paused. "Sometimes you gotta work for it. And by work for it in your case, you just gotta keep hoping. Sometimes it may be hard, but you just gotta keep at it." Beep smiled.

"Oh really?" Feathers replied to what Beep said. Again, Feathers didn't really know why being adopted was so important. "Why does it matter if you get adopted, I quite like it here..." Feathers questioned. Thinking hard started to make his brain hurt, so he stopped. Feathers' dizziness started to get worse and worse. "Ugh. I'm so dizzy-" He tried to say, but the rest of what he said came out marbled, and malformed. He couldn't speak anymore. This wasn't very pleasant for him, he didn't know what was happening. His vision started to fade...

"Oh crap." Beep said. Trying to get an employee's attention, he rammed himself on the glass. "Feathers passed out!" Beep yelled to the other pokemon in the room. Soon, every pokemon was making a racket. "That shouldn't happen. That's bad." Beep said to himself. Suddenly, he knew what to do. Beep puffed up, and poked his head out of the tank. Pressing himself against the side of the tank, a jet of water spit out of the hole in his side, hitting the "backup food" button on the wall. Pressing that button would activate a microphone, in which you could ask for backup food and for who. The jet of water hit the button, activating the microphone. In the security room, a loud noise burst out of one of the speakers. Fortunately, the security guard has had this happen before, so he ran to get the front desk. The front desk people heard him, and so they sent an employee to get in there and see what's wrong.

Feathers hadn't quite passed out yet, but he almost did. He couldn't move his left arm, his speech was impaired, and he couldn't quite understand what was going on. A staff member ran into the room, and he noticed Feathers in this condition, he called a vet into the room. The vet quickly took Feathers away to try and find what happened. It was hard to find what was wrong with him. They took a blood test, and found what was wrong with him. His health wasn't too good before he arrived, and a blood clot had formed in his brain, which just ruptured. Stroke. They had to work fast, or that was the end of the line for Feathers. They performed a surgery, and in a couple of hours, Feathers was stable. He couldn't walk, due to the brain damage caused by the stroke, so they put him in a mini wheel chair to get him back to his pen. Feathers would have to wake up from the anesthesia, but he would live to see another day.

When Feathers came back, it was as if the entire room sighed with relief. But then, the tension rose again, as no one had any idea what happened, so they were all on the edge of their seats. Trainers had started to file out of there, because the room just felt... uneasy. Soon, night fell. No one could sleep, so everyone started talking, like a family who hadn't seen each other in months. Beep was pleased, as no one had talked in a group sense something similar to Feathers' case happened. It was like a party, except for that everyone was still uneasy.

Feathers opened his eyes. His vision was still pretty blurred. He couldn't his legs, but he could move his wings. He could just barely see groups of Pokemon talking. He attempted to ask what was going on, but he couldn't speak. He didn't know where he was, or who any of these Pokemon were, the memory loss was caused by the stroke. All he could do, is watch in silence, and try to remember where he was. At least he could still remember who he was.
