This Means War

(I know it's long; but I put a lot of work into it. At the bottom, I included a very short summary of what happened to make it easier for others to join. Basically, the story will be about trainers trying to take down Team Rocket)

Jacob sighed as the ship pulled in to Lilycove City. After his battle with the twins in Mosdeep, he was heading out to strengthen and expand his team of psychic pokemon. It would be difficult, since psychic pokemon were very rare. Machiavelli(Elgyem) sat happily on his back, watching as the ship came to its final stop. Jacob and Mac turned around and headed for the exit. His steps felt heavy; Jacob hadn’t realized how tired he had become. He shook off this feeling, and continued to head for the exit.

Stepping down the stairs, he reminded himself again of the psychic pokemon that inhabited the Hoenn region; there was Lunatone and Solrock, both of whom he had seen battle in Mossdeep. Jacob felt his eyelids getting heavy. There was Ralts, which evolved into Kirlia, and then Gardevoir. His eyelids dropped, but Jacob forced them back open. Spoink, and Grumpig, interesting psychic types to say the least. Jacob’s eyelids dropped again, and no matter what he did he couldn’t raise them again. He felt his knees buckle on the stairs, and then nothing; everything went black.

“Hey…” a blur, everything was a blur. Jacob blinked several times, but everything was still blurry. He focused with all his strength, and looked out across the room. He could see colors pretty clearly, but shapes were too difficult. Across the room, he could see only one thing: a big red “R” on a black background. “Hey you!” he heard the voice again, but before he could respond, he fell asleep.

Jacob was jolted awake. He looked around; he could see clearly, things weren’t blurry. He quickly noticed the old man standing in front of him, with a much younger man beside him. They were outside, including Jacob. He looked to his left and to his right. He appeared to be in the middle of some dirt road. The sun was shining brightly, and it hurt Jacob’s eyes and head to open his eyes widely. Jacob shook himself awake.

“Where am I?” He managed to murmur. He realized he was speaking very quietly, so he tried again, louder. “Where am I?” The old man furrowed his brow.

“Why, you’re in Santalune City,” the old man responded very matter of fact-ly. Jacob shook his head again.

“Santalune…” Jacob repeated with a rising tone, sounding as if it was a question.

“Yes, Santalune City. In the Kalos region…” The old man responded again. “Oh God, Kid, how much did you drink last night?” Jacob shook his head.

“I-I didn’t drink anything…” Jacob began but then he thought of something. “What day is it?”

“Day?”

“Yes, what day of the week?”

“Uh… it’s a Tuesday I believe?” the old man said, turning to the younger one for confirmation. The younger man nodded, and the old man turned back to Jacob. “Tuesday,” he repeated confidently.

“Tuesday?” Jacob repeated. He had left Mosdeep City on a Thursday, which meant he was out for more than 4 days. Jacob pushed on the ground in an attempt to stand, but only succeeded in rolling over. Breathing heavily, he realized for the first time his stomach was growling, and his mouth was dry. As he continued to try to stand, he felt a force pull him from behind.

“There ya go,” a voice said. Jacob turned to see the younger man holding him up like a puppet. Jacob set his footing, and the man released him. Jacob wobbled for a moment before catching his balance. Everything hurt, as if he had been hit by a train.

“Thanks,” Jacob replied weakly. He had got the hang of standing now, and he felt alright.

“You sure you okay?” the old man asked.

“Yea, yea. I’ll be fine,” Jacob managed to reply as he took a couple of steps forward. The two men moved on, leaving Jacob to figure out his situation. He walked over to a nearby tavern, and managed to get a seat at the bar. He dropped his head into his hands, trying to remember what had happened. He was on a boat in Lilycove City with Mac, he remembered. Wait, Mac! Jacob reached for his pokeballs; they were all missing, as was his phone and money. That was it, he had been robbed! But by who? He thought back again, and could remember very little. What had happened while he was on the ship? He remembered very little, but one thing he did remember was a big, red “R.” Team Rocket!

“Excuse me, can I get you anything?” the bartender interrupted his thoughts.

“Just need some water,” Jacob replied. The bartender gave him a look before handing him a tiny plastic cup of tepid tap water. Jacob gulped down the entire thing, and asked for more. After a few more cups, he was feeling better, and decided to begin to work on a plan. He had no money, no way to contact anyone for help, and no way to find Team Rocket, much less retake his pokemon once he had found them. He could try to return home, to Unova, but by the time he did that, his pokemon could be gone; no, he needed to find a way to recover his pokemon quickly. He could go to the police, but if they knew how to take down Team Rocket, they would have already. No, they couldn’t help him either. He would need to do this himself. As he thought, he heard some loud-mouthed people speaking at the other end of the bar. Their loud voices hurt his head.

“Yea, almost, like, 12 pokemon have gone missing now. They say the place is haunted.”

“Nah, that’s dumb; no place is haunted. I’ll bet it’s that team plasma again; they’re always causing trouble.”

“Can’t be them!” a third one replied. “Police have been scouting the whole area and there’s no trace…. Nothing… that would lead them to expect a human presence in the area.” Jacob wished he could block them out; but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t. In fact, what they said were all he could think about. Well, Jacob had heard about events like these before; generally they were pokemon, lonely ones, like ghost, dark, or psychic types. These guys knew nothing.

“Yea, the caves in that forest are mad scary though,” one of the men joked. Jacob shook his head: definitely a wild pokemon. Jacob rose to his feet. Now that he was hydrated, walking was much easier. He felt less sore, and more confident. Walking over to the three men, he asked a question.

“What forest was this again?” Jacob asked. The three men looked at Jacob, giving him an angry look. Jacob himself just then realized how rude he must’ve appeared, eavesdropping on them like he was.

“Uh, the one just north of here,” one of the men replied, matter-of-fact-ly. Jacob nodded, before turning around immediately. He had only been awake now for some two hours, but he was already beginning to feel tired. He would need to rest again at some point, but not now. He needed to find his pokemon.

Jacob climbed up the nearby hill to the north, and walked into the forest. He felt naked without any pokemon, and he knew walking alone was dangerous. With his pokemon, the forest was a treasure-land; any pokemon could be in there, just waiting to join his time. But without them, the forest was a warzone; any pokemon could be in there, just waiting to attack him. Jacob had his mind set on one in particular.

It wasn’t very long before Jacob found the cave; the men at the bar were wrong, there weren’t many caves around at all. Jacob walked up close to the cave before he heard something behind him. He turned to see a Delphox, growling angrily at him. He stepped back slowly, carefully watching the wild pokemon. Jacob knew very little about Delphox’s; while they were half psychic-type, which Jacob knew very well, they were also half fire-type, making them extremely unpredictable to someone with Jacob’s background. Jacob reached out his arm.

“Hey… I’m not a threat,” Jacob said to the pokemon. But the Delphox angrily sneered before reaching for his wand. Delphox’s wand caught fire and he made a large fire circle with his wand before opening his mouth and releasing a column of fire at Jacob. Jacob dove to the side, but his leg was clipped. Jacob clutched his knee, which was badly burnt. Cringing in pain, Jacob dropped to the ground. Delphox sneered again before returning to the cave. Jacob was left on the ground in pain. He looked over to the nearest tree, which happened to be an apple tree. Jacob crawled over to the tree, and picked up an apple that had fallen on the ground. He rubbed off the apple and took a bite.

Jacob spent the night outside the cave, and woke up with the sun the next morning. Jacob took another apple from the tree; while his leg hurt more today, he was able to put enough weight on it to grab an apple from the branches of the tree. Of course, he would need more than apples if he was going to survive. Jacob began thinking about finding some berries when Delphox emerged. Jacob leapt behind a nearby bush to hide from the pokemon, but it became apparent the Delphox had seen him regardless. The pokemon growled angrily at Jacob before returning to the cave. Jacob continued to wait outside the cave for the next few hours, eating only apples. That night, he slept outside the cave once again.

Jacob woke up in a puddle of water. The rain was coming down heavily, and Jacob hid under the apple tree to keep dry. He could see the fire burning from inside the cave, keeping Delphox warm, as Jacob shivered outside. Jacob’s stomach was bothering him, having only eaten apples for the past two days. Luckily, there were some oran berries in a nearby bush, and Jacob was able to make a meal of them before returning to his apples later that night.

As Jacob ate, he watched Delphox stick his head out in the rain. Once again, Delphox spotted Jacob, and growled before sticking his head back in the cave. The rain was beginning to fall with even more heavily, and the force of the rain on Jacob’s burn and bruise was bothering him fiercely. He decided he would try for it. Jacob stood as best he could, and limped over to the cave. He could feel the warmth from inside as he approached, but he didn’t get too far. Delphox rushed to the front of the cave, angrily bumping into Jacob, and knocking Jacob into a pile of mud outside. Jacob looked up at the Delphox and extended a hand with a single apple in it. Delphox growled for a moment, before taking the apple.

Jacob stood, and limped to the front of the cave. Delphox turned sideways, and allowed Jacob to pass inside. Jacob smiled as he took a seat by the fire.

“Thanks,” He said, although Delphox did not respond. “So, what are you doing all alone out here?” Delphox merely sneered once as he fed the fire. He eyed Jacob cautiously. “Well, I need your he-” Jacob began but stopped when Delphox stood, apple in hand. Delphox walked to the far corner of the cave as Jacob watched. He leaned over, and placed the apple down in the shadows before walking back over and sitting at the fire, near Jacob. Jacob stood, and slowly limped over to the far side of the cave. Delphox growled before angrily rushing towards Jacob. Delphox stepped in front of Jacob, extending his arms and blocking Jacob’s path. But Jacob had already seen what lay in that corner. A small body, of a orange and yellow pokemon, a young Fennekin lay on the ground, with its eyes closed. Now Jacob understood.

“So was it your child?” Jacob asked, but Delphox just growled at Jacob again as he returned to the fire. “You know she’s not coming back,” Jacob said again to Delphox. The pokemon angrily rushed forward at Jacob, knocking him to the ground. Jacob hit his burnt knee, and flinched in pain. Jacob pulled himself to his feet. “How long have you been here? Weeks? Months?” Jacob looked over at the body again. He thought about saying more, but figured he shouldn’t. Delphox did not appear in the mood, and Jacob understood how he felt. His own pokemon were long gone as well; they could very well have faced the same fate.

Jacob just lied down on the ground, and drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, Jacob woke up early, before Delphox awoke. Jacob stood, and, after feeling the grumbling in his stomach, Jacob decided he should go search for some food. All of the apples had been picked from the tree, and all the berries were gone from the bush, so Jacob had to travel further from the cave to find food, but he figured that could be fine. He was collecting water from some nearby puddles when he heard voices. He instinctively ran into some nearby brush, and watched as two men walked along the path. They were both wearing team rocket uniforms. Jacob had to hold himself back from attacking the two men. They most likely had pokemon with them anyhow, so he wouldn’t stand a chance. As Jacob listened to their conversation, he was able to determine one thing; they were heading to the cave, looking for the pokemon there. Jacob stood and sprinted as best he could back to the cave.

When he arrived, he stood over the sleeping Delphox. As gently as he could, he woke the pokemon up. Delphox jumped awake, knocking Jacob to the ground in the process. Delphox growled at Jacob again before turning away.

“Look,” Jacob said to the pokemon. “There are two men on their way here, and when they get here…” Jacob was interrupted by someone outside the cave.

“Hello?” the rocket grunt said, as he poked his head inside the cave. “Ah, a Delphox! It must be our lucky day!” the grunt said to the other. Jacob looked at Delphox, who was stooped over his poor child.

“Just get out of here,” Jacob said to the grunts. “Just leave.”

“And why would we do that?” one of the grunts responded. “We are just about to catch the most powerful pokemon Team Rocket has caught in a month!” As he said these words, both grunts released pokeballs, and an Inkay and a Clauncher appeared in front of them. Jacob stood in front of the pokemon. “Alright, if you have a death-wish,” the grunt said to Jacob. “Clauncher, use bubble beam!” Clauncher released a forceful beam of bubbles that slammed into Jacob, but he remained in place, in between Clauncher and Delphox.

“Inkay, use tackle!” Inkay flew forward towards Jacob, and Jacob closed his eyes, preparing for the impact. But nothing happened. Jacob opened his eyes to see Inkay floating just in front of him, glowing blue, before flying backwards. Jacob looked to his side, where Delphox stood, his wand in his hand. “Inkay use, psybeam!”

“Clauncher use bubblebeam!” Jacob looked over at Delphox.

“Alright, Delphox, use Mystical Fire!” Delphox swung his wand in a circle, creating a ring of fire. He opened his mouth, releasing a powerful beam of fire spiraling forwards. The attacks collided, but Delphox’s attack easily broke through the others. Delphox’s attack smashed into the Rocket Grunts’ pokemon, sending them both falling backwards, aflame. The grunts recalled their pokemon and ran as quickly as they could. Jacob looked at Delphox. Delphox nodded. The two of them headed out into the forest, following the rocket grunts. Jacob hoped they would lead him to a rocket base; somewhere he could find his pokemon, or at least a way to get his pokemon.

The two of them walked for some time, following the rocket grunts, staying a fair distance in an attempt to give them the impression they had escaped. As they walked along the route, Jacob spoke to Delphox.

“You could really use a name you know,” Jacob began. “I was thinking something strong, like Dallben.” Delphox shook his head, and wrinkled his nose. “Fine, how about… Bloyse?” Delphox tilted his head before nodding. “Alright, Bloyse it is!” Jacob said as the two of them reached the top of the hill. Looking down, they could see Lumiose City. The grunts had lead them there; that meant there must be a rocket base in Lumiose City. Jacob looked over at Bloyse. “Ready?” The Delphox nodded. “Alright, let’s go. Team Rocket doesn’t know who they’re messing with. This means war.”

(Summary: Team Rocket captures Jacob and steals his pokemon. He befriends a Delphox, named Bloyse, and following two rocket grunts, were lead to Lumiose City. Jacob's immediate mission has been to discover the Rocket base that is in Lumiose City.)

The Umbreon a Nudged at the small fire type pokemon, thspat had been laying in his cave for days in end.

He had Wished so much he had just about given up when he saw a twitch.

A flash of blue and cloud like shapes went zooming dangerously close and passed Jacob. It was without a doubt a pokemon. It soared through the air, spreading its large white creamy looking wings as it spiraled down from the air, into the center Lumiose City, directly beside the ever so large Prism Tower.

Though they were now ant sized to the view of Jacob's spot, a boy leaped off of the Altaria. The shaggy white haired boy thanked his dragon pokemon, before returning her.

Platinum looked around - he was pissed. Some Team Rocket grunts had randomly shown up, and stolen his trusted partner. Usually Platinum was smothered in fans, due to his recent fame breakout from his newest movies he had starred and his PR Videos that caught the attention of many Kalos citizens. But he couldn't care less at this point. He was going to find his best friend that those crud rocket grunts had taken from him.

The blue eyed actor had done some researching, and had narrowed down that there was a base in Lumiose City - which coincidentally happened to be where he lived. Platinum immediately began running towards North Boulevard. If Team Rocket was here, he would definitely find them, regardless of the many crowds that populated the city. He knew this place like the back of his hand."

Mairin walked down the streets of Lumiose City, amazed.
"Woow.... look at all the flashy lights, Chespie!!"
"Che, Chespin!!!"
The young trainer wandered around the city, her Chespin following her. She stopped when she heard a noise coming from a small alleyway.
"Che?"
Chespie walked down the alleyway.
"Chespie, wait!!"
She started to follow him, but he was gone.
"Chespie??"
She ran down the small, dark path to find someone with a black outfit and an R on his shirt holding Chespie and smiling.
"Hey!! Give back Chespie!!"
"Oh, is this yours? Well not anymore!!"
He shoved Mairin, running past her.
"Hey, come back!!! Chespie!!"
She ran after him, bumping past several people and Pokemon. He was clearly faster than her, and was eventually lost in the crowd.
"Chespie!!!" Mairin cried. Tears welled up in her eyes. She ran off to an empty alley and sat against the wall, crying.

Umbreon sprinted through the hallways, chains still attached to her paws. She had to escape this prison- little Eevee was waiting for her back at the meadow. "There it is!" A grunt called out, sprinting after the Pokemon.
