Through the flood (ask to join.)

(OCC: in this role-play you are the pokemon. For your first post, state which pokemon you are and make a little back-story. we are in the Kalos region.) (my pokemon is fennekin, and her nickname is flare.)

back story: Fennekin used to have have an owner, that is until her owner died a tragic death. She has been traveling for days, looking for a place where she can be free and not have to worry about anything. She's been through storms and fights, but never has she seen a loved one die.

Flare was walking down the road towards a clearing in which she thought she saw a bunch of pokemon. It was pouring and starting to flood, and since flare was a fire type, she hated water. She was almost to the clearing when all of a sudden a mud slide came running across the road and picked her up. "HELP!" she yelled right before she slammed right into a rock, knocking her unconscious.

Back Story: Gourgiest was abandoned after he was traded to his new trainer. His trainer had wanted him to stay as a Pumkaboo, however he refused to stop evolving. As such, he was released and has been forced to live on his own. He hasn't stayed around many people or pokemon, instead he stays mostly to himself.

Marzipan didn't have enough time as water and mud rushed through the land. He could barely hold on to the thick tree he was clinging to. Nails dug into the bark as Mazipan tried to get his body closer to the solid object. The clearing was nothing more than a river of rocks and fast moving earth. The sight of a small yellow object being carried down the steam had caught his eye though. It was the only bright object in a portait of brown as he hurried to grab it. "..." Maripan didn't say anything as he started to climb higher into the canopy. One hand filled with some pokemon's body and the other slick with mud.

Okay. I'm rooting this practice in advance because it's just... bad. Don't just "Back story: blah blah blah" your characters. Tell their back story through your posts, in character, and where appropriate. Keep in mind that while character bios are nice - in universe, no one can right click a person and read their back story. Think about books. That is how RPs SHOULD look like.

Otherwise, carry on, and make sure you read and follow the rules.

She was still just a Ralts when her trainer released her. And ever since that day, Cassie never ceased to wonder what she'd done wrong. Why she was released. Was she not strong enough? Not fast enough? She'd been to you too understand then. And now, as a Kirlia, Cassie finally understood.

She was too small.

Smaller than other Ralts, making her look like a runt no matter how deternined she wasy. She got herself stronger of course. There was no other way if she wanted to survive in the wild. She'd been hopeful when she evolved into a Kirlia, but still found herself just an inch or two smaller than other Kirlias. She'd been breeded from an egg. She had no family to come back to. Cassie invested countless hours honing her abilities, adapting to her strange, new life. But this was one thing she had never experienced before; flood.

Rain battered down and water mixed with mud, rushing down below. With her psychic abilities, she'd sensed the oncoming danger and gotten herself on a tree before the rain grew harsh. Other Pokemon flocked there once water started rushing through, but she'd been particularly interested in the Gourgeist that settled below her. Even more so when he hopped down, grabbed a yellow mass of fur and climbed onto the branch she resided on. With delicate steps, she approached both Pokemon curiously, looking over the Gourgeist's shoulder to observe the fainted Fennekin. If it were her, she would've let the said Fennekin drown. "That was awfully risky." She told the Gourgeist.

Marzipan only sighed as he looked down at the rushing rapids below them. His hand was still on the Fennekin as he tried to keep the down pour off the unevolved fire type. "I couldn't sit around and watch." That's all the Gourgeist said as he looked over to his left. His free hand only going up to wipe away the water that was making him go blind as he tried to stare at the psychic type. A simple frown rested on Marizpan's face before he stared at the Kirlia once more.

"More so on the fact whoever this is, hasn't fully gotten the chance to live yet." Marizpan was rather calm as he just sat down on the branch. Trying to be mindful of his own weight and trying to make sure he didn't shake anyone off. "Plus, drowning isn't that fun of a way to go. More so for a fire type probably."

"Would've saved a lot of pain and betrayal, though, no?" Cassie's ability was Telepathy. She could see into other's minds and browse through their thoughts. She knew Marz was an abandoned Pokemon, just like her, but most Pokemon didn't like to have their thoughts read, so she mostly didn't mention it. The rain was truly coming down in buckets, but she remained comfortably dry, what with Barrier to protect her like an umbrella. "She's not going to wake up at this rate."

Cassie expanded her Barrier to include Marz and Flare. She sat down idly on the branch, picking a berry from the leaves nearby. "This tree won't last long in the rapids." She stated simply. Of course, she already had an arrangement to move, but there would be a lot more Pokemon drowning if and when the tree collapsed. "You're a Grass type, right? You could reinforce the tree's roots and trunk and keep it upright."

Finally waking up, Flare looked around and saw the two pokemon sitting there. She jumped up, yelling "STAY BACK!" She went running towards the end of the branch to see that it was too big of a drop. Flare was scared, but she knew she would have to get used to these two. She grabbed a branch from the tree and started eating. "Thank you for saving me," she said at last.

Marz only shrugged as he looked down. The drop down would be enough to injure a Pokemon, but the water was already getting high enough to make this tree the last remaining safe guard. "I don't have any moves that would support this tree, just moves that would bring us closer to the rapids." Marz only crossed his hands in front of him before a startled cry caught his attention.

"Well, hello there." The Gourgeist only gestured to Flare as he moved to keep his hand over her. "You're welcome, but stay under the Barrier if you want to stay dry." Marz sighed before he looked towards Cassie with curious eyes. An eyebrow arched in question before he coughed a bit. "I think introductions are needed. I'm Marzipan, and you two are?"

"Cassandra." She said this with a hollow smile and a far away gaze. She didn't make eye contact with either of them. Too deep in thought. She thought about where to go and what to do. Would the floods change anything? How different would life become after it? Probably so. More importantly, she thought about how much food she would need to make it to a new area.

However, for now, Cassie found the Fennekin amusing at the very least; almost jumping right back into the rapids after being saved from it. Some Pokemon were so funny. She sat in silence, seemingly dazing off, until she spoke again. "I gues we'll be here a while."

"I'm flare," she said, looking towards the flood. She was lost in thought, trying to figure out a way to get down safely. She started walking back and forth across the branch. She stopped when she saw a branch that wasn't that far away from the one they are on. The branch was below a tree full of leaves, which would give them more cover from the rain. "We should go on that branch," she said to Cassandra and Marzipan.

"Is it sturdy enough to support all three of us?" Marz only looked at the branch with uncertainty. It appeared to be thick and healthy, but that didn't mean it was strong enough for all of them. He looked over at Cassie for any sort of ideas before looking back at Flare. "Right now, it matters more if we're higher up than dry. In a few moments the water might be high enough to cover that branch."

Cassie was surprised and offended at the same time. The Fennekin, Flare, suggested to move onto a lower branch where they would be drier. She stifled a scoff. However, she did listen to what Marz had to say and said quickly, "I agree. And my Barrier is more than adequate to keep us dry, thank you."

The Kirlia crossed her arms, ruby eyes gleaming in thought. She looked at the branch above them and hummed as an idea came into mind. "I might have an idea." Getting to her slender legs, she eyed the branch above intensely, lifting both her hands as she launched Magical Leaf. But instead of using them as an attack, she stuck them to the bare branch above and formed an umbrella. "Voilà."

She listened, then put her head down, "sorry," she said. She went over to a twig, pulled it out, lit it on fire, and stuck it in her tail. "I learned this from my previous trainer," she said. She looked around and saw the sky turning blue not far away. "the rain is almost done!" she yelled happily. She heard a faint squeaking coming from a hole in the tree. She went over to look and 5 rattatas came running out. She jumped back in surprise.

Marz only watched the two in silent amusement. His eyes only looking at the red flames for a single moment before turning them to the blueish horizon. "Let's hope it'll end here then." The Gourgiest kept his eyes on the quite, high-pitched squeaks before looking over at Flare. A small smile on his lips as he looked over at the running rodents. "Seems like you startled them."

Cassie let out a relieved exhale once the rain finally cleared away. "Sunny Day, huh?" She looked at Flare with her unreadable eyes. "Seems we were all abandoned Pokemon." As she said this, her eyes wandered to Marz, hinting that she knew something he didn't. Though the rain did subside, the water still raged on below. "It will pool soon. Might I know your plans once it does?" She seemed unfazed by the sudden emergence of the Rattata, moving out of their way as if knowing they were coming even.

Flare didn't like the rattata's being up on their branch. She shot one of them with a ember, which that Rattata turned around and started attacking. Flare jumped to dodge a super fang, and then used ember again, but this time it missed and hit the tree. The tree caught on fire, and flare jumped on the fire and tried to put it out. She managed to put it out, but the rattata was still attacking, and managed to bite flare on her back leg. She jumped back in pain, grabbed the rattata and threw it into the water.

Marz only glanced over at Cassie. His face showing slight annoyance as he soon smelt the smoke coming off of the burning tree. The Gourgeist's face was soon expressing horror as Flare jumped on top the flames to smother them. "Leave them alone before this tree goes down." Marz wasn't mad. No, he was more or less worried that the Fennekin would end up not only hurting herself but him and Cassie.

One of the Rattata seemed to start biting at Marz. His arm being the main attack of it as he grunted in pain. A quick Shadow Ball and the slight annoyance went tumbling down into the rapids. As much as Marz wanted to help the poor Pokemon, his arm was the main focus of his attention right now. "If the rest of them keep this up..." His voice trailed off as he held his arm gently. A few hair like stands clearly looked cut as they curled in on one another.

The Rattata started attacking, but Cassie had not been their target. She watched with a silent calmness as they swarmed, before watching them drown once knocked down. She glanced at Flare and Marz silently, choosing not to say anything this time or state the obvious fact that they may have just killed the two poor Rattata. Of course, it didn't stop there.

The rest of the hoarde were charging at them still, irresponsibly throwing off the balance of the branch. The Kirlia finally stepped in, taking position in front of Marz and Flare as she sent a brainwave of Hypnosis towards them, peacefully sending them to sleep. Cassie turned back around to face her two companions, attention drawn to their injuries. Her eyes slid shut, the frills of her dress quivering along with her green hair, and she released a Heal Pulse.

It should heal them quite a bit, but all the usage of her powers began to take its toll. The Kirlia trembled and collapsed into a sitting position once again. This had been why she was abandoned too. Because she was weak. No matter how hard she trained, she was still, and always will be, weak.

Flare was amazed that Cassie had the power to hypnotize all the Rattatas at once. She then noticed Cassie start to fall, "Cassie!" she yelled out. She looked around the surrounding trees, and saw a sitrus berry hanging next to them. "Marz, you make sure she's okay, I'm going to get that sitrus berry." She climbed down the tree, ran over now that the ground is almost dry, and climbed the tree.

She managed to get it, but she started to loose her balance on the thin branch. "Aah!" she yelled, as she fell off the tree, but the berry caught her in the leaves. She struggled to get back up, but she couldn't.

Marz was impressed with the amount of energy it took to make all of the Rattatas fall asleep. His hands already going to help Cassie settle down. Golden eyes kept watch on the Kirlia as he nodded at Flare. It was only when he heard the clear sound of snapping wood and small screaming that caused Marz to look up at the higher branch. Extreme worry already consuming the Gourgiest as he looked between the two females before standing up slowly.

Extremely large arms already reaching up as Marz gently tried to grab a hold of Flame. The sturdy branch already creaking under all of the strain to hold the extremely large Pokemon. "Let go." His voice was calm as he spoke, though it was clear that Marz was afraid he might either slip or break the only thing keeping all three of them alive.

Her head pounded. Cassie felt herself sway unstably on the branch, until she noticed the large pair of arms holding her up. Ruby orbs met gold before they both stared upwards to Flare, who'd gotten herself in trouble trying to help Cassie. She wondered why. It was highly unnecessary, and yet there the Fennekin was, about to possibly die for a Sitrus Berry.

"You didn't have to..." She whispered softly, feeling the creaks and tremors of the branch beneath her and Marz. Now all of them were going to possibly die. The Gourgheist was large. Very large. She hoped that if he did slip, she would at least be strong enough to suspend him with her powers.
