Private/Closed Unova Travels

Robert went over to Alice and puts his hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry. It's just a Serperior," he said to comfort her, "A tamed one at that." He looked at the grass type in amazement.

"I- I'm fine... I just have a bit of anxiety around large Pokemon" Alice said, a little shakily. Se took a deep breath and stepped forward a little. "So, have you met anybody else on Unova?" She asked.

"Good on you man. I was thinking of trying my luck at the gyms, mostly because it'd give me a reason to travel the region, a set path y'know? That way I can see all there is here and see if I can find my place here." She straightened up, placing her hands confidently on her hips. "Y'now, maybe we should stick together, for now at least. Since we're both going to challenge the gyms, we might as well go together." She grinned her crooked grin. "Also, I think someone ought to make sure that no one else trips over ya."

Robert shook his head. "Nope. You're the first person I met in Unova," he said, "How about you?"

A Poochyena approached Pikachu and started flirting with her. "Poochy pooch, (Hey there sunshine.)" it said. Pikachu turned her away and huffed as a sign of rejected. Poochyena felt heartbroken and walk to its trainer feeling with its head down.

Drake couldn't help but chuckle a little at what Alix had said but at the same time he was genuinely happy that this girl from Kalos who was actually from Alola wanted to travel with him. She had already done something like this before where as he was a complete and utter novice so it was a comforting thought to think that he would have somebody with experience travelling around with him.

"Guess I deserve that one." Drake grinned at Alix's little joke before running a hand through his messy hair, nodding and adding "But yeah honestly I think that's a great idea, it'll certainly make this journey a lot less boring that's for sure."

An idea suddenly struck the trainer, yes I know sometimes Drake does actually have those, and he cocked his head slightly trying to decide if he should go through with it. Making up his mind he said "So Alix how about we take it up a notch for our little journey together. After we both get a badge we'll battle and see who wins, that way when we beat all the gyms we will have a real winner. You know make things more interesting." He smirked, giving her a jaunty wink to go with his challenge.

"Well you're the first person I've met here" Alice said, smiling. She looked at the Poocheyena flirt with Pikachu, Candel growled at it a little. "Are you gonna battle the gyms?" Alice asked.

"Yeah, that's what I plan to do," Robert said smiling. He saw how the Poochyena flirted with Pikachu and she rejected him. "Yeah, that happens sometimes," he said, "She does not like being flirted by strangers. Or by anyone."

"Ooh, are you asking me to be your rival?" Alix grinned, she just knew already she'd get along great with this boy. "In that case, we don't have time to waste then if we want to challenge each other we better haul ourselves over to Aspereta." She waved her folded up map with a satisfied grin, "You didn't need anything inside the Pokemon Center did you!"

Drake nodded in agreement, glad that Alix had accepted his little challenge. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition after all. And she even had a map, something he forgotten to pick up in haste to leave home. They probably had some in the Pokémon centre but if he was going to be travelling with Alix it didn't really matter. And so with that in mind he replied "Nope, lets get this journey started. Led the way Miss Alix." the grin never leaving his face. He could already tell this was going to be one hell of a first adventure.

"I might challenge the gyms..." Alice said. She picked up Candel and walked out of the Pokemon Center. She looked around the town, trainers and pokemon. Alice let Candel down to walk around a bit. Candel blindly walked into two trainers, a girl and a boy. Alice rushed over in alarm, "Sorry" She said, "My Stufful Candel can be a bit clumsy sometimes"

Pikachu ran back to Robert and jumped on his shoulder. Robert then proceeded to walk out of the Pokemon Center to catch up to Alice. It didn't take long to find her, as he saw her what it appears to be apologizing to two other trainers.

"C'mon Eon, let's go," Dustin said quietly. Dustin made a U-Turn and walked away. Eon turned to the other Pokemon. "Sorry my trainer is a bit shy, but you should meet my friends, Jules and Zeller, hold on, I'll go get them." The Eevee rushed to his trainer who was laying face down on the table asleep. He plucked two Pokeballs from his trainer's belt and brought them over, pressing the buttons hit his nose. A Buizel and Electrike apeared in a flash of light. "Hello, I'm Zeller," the buizel said in Pokemon speak, but much more dignified. "Jules, it's a pleasure," The Electrike said.

Eon glanced over to his trainer. Dustin was not only a shy kid, but had been tired as of late. He lost a lot of cheer, and had been worrying the Eevee.

Alix nodded, "Alright, well we just have to go through route 20 and then we'll reach Flocessy." she looked around before pointing at a small sign, "See, we go this way!" she then promptly tugged Drake along with her by the wrist, making a mad dash for the route. "I hope you don't mind taking it slow, I want to train up my team before the gym and going toe to toe with you." Soon her footfalls changed, as they left concrete behind and eventually stepped into the well worn dirt path of Route 20.

Drake let himself by pulled along willingly towards route 20, already welling up with anticipation for the real start of his adventure in Unova. Well other than his nap outside the Pokémon centre. But that doesn't sound quite as heroic as he would like.
"That's probably a good idea actually, some of my Pokémon could do with some....discipline training." He responded as his feeling of anticipation vanished. It was a good point. His team wasn't exactly the most serious bunch even if they weren't half bad at the actual battling. Of course he had nobody to blame but himself, he did raise them after all.

The trainer's mood changed again when he felt the soft squish of dirt under his feet. That was it! The first step down the route that would make him a Pokémon champion. A pleasant breeze washed over the boy and caused him to look around and really appreciate how beautiful this landscape was. More rural than Hoenn, that's for sure. It was a patch of grass that caught Drake's attention next, it wiggled unnaturally as if it was possessed by some demon. Of course he knew better, there was Pokémon in there.

"Hold up Alix, I think I've got something over here." Drake said in a hushed voice, not wanting to disturb whatever was hiding about 5 feet away from them. That was until he stepped on a twig and ruined the spell of silence. As he stood there with one foot half raised and a pained expression on his face Drake noticed the grass had stopped wiggling. That was before two creatures flung themselves out of it.

A Venipede and Sewaddle turned out to be the two mystery Pokémon and now they were ready for battle, each one squaring up against a separate trainer. The Venipede went for Drake whilst the Sewaddle attacked Alix. With a grin the young man sent out his partner Pokémon, happy to accept these wild Pokémon's challenge. "Go Lucifer!"

The Gligar appeared in a flash of light, already floating on the gentle breeze of the route and with an impish grin on its face. Lucifer glanced back to share a look with his trainer before turning back to his opponent, some bug Pokémon he had never encountered before. From the look Lucifer had given him Drake knew his friend was ready to give it his all in their first Unova battle so with some gusto he instructed "Lucifer, hit it with a knock off!".

The Venipede chittered in defiance as Lucifer swiftly glided towards it, almost managing to dodge the attack. Almost. The Gligar's claw made contact with the side of the wild Pokémon's shell and sent it temporarily into the dust. Moments later it was back on all its little legs and ready for more however. Drake was happy to see the lil fella was feisty, made the battle all the more exciting for him.

The two people were gone when Alice turned back around, she shrugged, maybe they didn't care. "Hey Robert! Should we go?!" Alice called.

Robert nodded at Alice. "Yeah," he said and walked over to her. He then pulled out his map that he got at the Pokemon Center. "So, where do you want to go first?" he asked.

Alix looked to the side at the small bug rushing at her. "Bug type!" She screeched, stumbling back before regaining her composure. Her gaze hardened, as she grasped one of her Pokeball's and practically hurled her partner at the wild Pokemon. "Let's go, Riot," the rocky dog gave a high yip in acknowledgement, her gaze hard.

The bug managed to outspeed Riot, tightly weaving string around the dog, causing her to miss a turn before the bug rammed into her side. Riot stood her ground, something akin to smugness creeping into her eyes as the normal type move tackle did barely any lasting damage. The little bug clacked its fangs in disapproval, scuttling away and wincing, it's small body suffering a few scrapes from the pup's rough fur.

Ripping through the string with some effort, Riot glanced back at Alix, who grinned. "Bite it, girl!" Riot launched foreword, sinking her canines into the small bug, ignoring it's wriggling and tossed it bag into the grass it came from. She barked at where it disappeared, before howling calmly in her glee.

Drake cut a glance at what was going on beside him, seemed like Alix was handling things pretty well. A little outburst about the fact it was a bug type though. Perhaps she had a phobia or something. Could be a problem if a bug type gym shows up along their journey but she seems like a strong girl, she could probably work through it. Her Pokémon was interesting to Drake as well, another species he had never encountered and boy was he upset he hadn't. The lil fella looked adorable!

Anyway back to the battle at hand. The Venipede had responded to Lucifer's attack with one its own, a poison sting which sprayed from the insects mouth as it screeched loudly. Lucifer caught the full brunt of the attack as he was stunned by the noise somewhat, his overly sensitive ears being used against him. The Gligar's altitude sank as he recovered from the hit but with a quick shake of the head he was smiling again and eager to get his revenge.

"Quick attack!" Drake called out to his partner, hoping that a faster attack might mean the agile Venipede wouldn't have a chance to avoid it. Turns out he was correct in choosing quick attack, Lucifer darted across the battle field so quickly he became blurred before upper cutting the Venipede and sending it cartwheeling into the air. The bug Pokémon span once, twice, three times before landing heavily on its back. Poor lil guy was clearly out for the count.

"Well done buddy! Our first win in Unova all done and dusted. And it least we didn't mess up in front of this one eh?" Drake laughed, jerking a thumb at Alix. Lucifer responded with a happy "Gliiiigar!" before settling on his trainers shoulders with his head atop Drake's. The Gligar had done this since he was young so both parties involved with the positon were actually quite comfortable. Nothing left to now but see how their new friends got on.

"Ha ha, that was a bit startling." Alix laughed, Riot yipping and returning to her trainer with a bound and a leap. Alix smoothly caught her loyal dog, ruffling the slightly elongated fur on top of her head. "Good job girl, poor Sewaddle didn't stand a chance against a rock type now did it?" Riot barked at her trainer in confirmation, allowing herself to be recalled. Strapping her ball safe and secure back onto her hip, Alix turned to look at Drake. She snorts, laughing at the rather adorable sight of the Gligar perched across his shoulders and head.

"Aw, you two look adorable!" she grinned, pulling out her Holo Caster and snapping a photo before Drake could possibly protest. She grinned, waving the device before quickly stashing it, "Don't worry that won't see the light of day, unless I need blackmail material." She gave him her crooked grin before dashing the to tall set of stairs nearby. "The ranch and town are just a little bit farther!"

Drake really was not prepared for his sudden photo op and due to this he probably looked very surprised in the photo. Lucifer on the other hand with his quicker reactions and love for the limelight actually had the nerve to wink at the camera and give his best fanged smirk. Sadly the Gligar couldn't exactly achieve suave with his tongue sticking out constantly. There was no real time to protest to either the picture being taken or Alix's jab/ compliment. That girl was like a gunslinger but with a holocaster.

"Hey, wha...that's not exactly comforting you know!" He called after Alix before managing a chuckle. Well she certainly wasn't boring. Hopefully and opportunity would arise where he could get something of his own to lord over her in case of blackmail, equal up the playing field and all that. And with that thought in his head Drake sprinted to catch up with his new friend, Lucifer hanging from his shoulders like some kind of odd cape.
"So that device you used back there.. I know it must be some kind of camera but it looks pretty unique. And you can clearly use it to embarrass a guy in a flash. Where'd you get it from?"

"Hmm? It's a Holo Caster, pretty much everyone who has the chance to get one owns one back in Kalos. It's like the xtransever from Unova, just more updated." She slowed down for Drake. "It's like a really fancy phone that makes your calls in holograms."

She pauses at the top, gazing out at the water and trees. "The ranch shouldn't be much farther. I think we aught to train a little more before continuing to the gym, and apparently there's an event of some sorts in Floccessy. I don't know if it'll be interesting or not but its worth a shot."

"A Holo Caster huh? Guess they never became a hit in Hoenn. Best bit of tech I ever got was a Pokenav from my Dad, his company makes them so I guess its one of the perks of the job" Drake explained, grateful that Alix had slowed down for him. That girl had one hell of a stride on her.

When he caught up Drake got the chance to enjoy the same view, beautiful, almost glass like water and an assortment of different tree species. With that many trees who knows what kind of Pokémon were hanging out around here. "Sounds like a plan, we've gotta ace our first gym battle after all, set us up for the rest of them." He agreed with a subtle nod.

"Well where do you wanna look next? Those trees over there look promising for bug types."
