When May was a kid, she snuck into the forest near her town. While in the forest, she was kidnapped and placed in a lab where she was injected with Pokémon DNA. Though she didn't change externally, she developed certain Pokémon's abilities. She got Luxray's sharp vision, and she can stand freezing air like ice types, isn't that effected by intense flames. But she is effected by devises that can put Pokémon into traces, and moves like Hypnoses effects her more.

Light filtered into a small hotel room, its light ray hitting the face of the girl in a stiff red blanket. Beside May was a lump in the blanket, the top raising and falling softly like breaths. The girl made a mew of protest, and turned over in her sleep, pulling the blankets off the lump. The lump turned out to be her partner, Piplup. "Lup..." The penguin yawned and stood up on his feet. Looking around, the Piplup stretched and pounced on May, making the streak haired girl to shoot up, and for Piplup to land on her head. "Okay, okay I'm up." She yawned and got up to get ready. When she was finished getting dressed, she fed her team, and left the hotel. "Where should we head now?" She asked.
