Private/Closed Valiant Resonance

To Jaycee’s surprise, Carol had completely dashed past her and went straight for Kyle, knocking him behind her. Jaycee turned to follow. Seeing Carol pinning down Kyle and suddenly flinching back and dropping him while hollering in pain, Jaycee had her opening. As she dashed at Carol, she held her Grestsword with both hands outward and downward to the side, the tip of the blade dragging on the ground beneath her splitting the earth open with fire and sparks revealing molten earth and fire in the trail it left as she dashed. When she was in range she crouched down in a wide and sturdy stance and twisted her body and hip around using the momentum to whip the Greatsword around in a huge upward wide arcing cleave at an unnaturally high speed. With her forward hand she pulled on the lever in front of the hilt, igniting the thrusters on the back of the blade in a brilliant violet and yellow flame and projecting the blade even faster than Jaycee had thought possible. To a normal human, the power of the thrusters would have torn the arms off of whoever was holding the weapon, but Jaycee simply felt it as a gentle force that pulled her forward and around as was the directing she was spinning it, she only needed to guide it, and guide it she did.

Jaycee’s attack struck the temporarily blinded Carol from behind and the side, making direct contact with her torso as her arm was up trying to wipe Kyle’s blood off her face. With a weapon this size and the speed the swing went through, Jaycee didn’t even feel the hit make contact, she simply saw Carol make contact with the end of the blade in slow-motion, her body bending unnaturally as the blade made contact, and the next moment, Carol was gone. She had been sent flying at the far wall of the court, she hit the wall with a dull thud before falling onto the ground unconscious. The cleaving slash had carried enough momentum to turn Jaycee back around so she face the remaining three enemies. She now held the Greatsword in her left hand on the extended part of the hilt. She flipped her grip around and held it with both hands downward and outward to the left side this time with the tip of the blade in the ground, Jaycee was ready to attack her next opponent. She was now completely in battle mode, her senses were hyper aware, everything seemed to slow down around her, her perception of the world had changed, the raw amount of sensory information she was taking in was making it seem like time had slowed down around her. No doubt the Resonant was assisting her, the thrill she was feeling was even greater than before, it was almost addicting. She could hear calming whispers in her head, pleasant, soothing, and elegant, it spoke to her, but she couldn’t quite make out what it was saying.

PLING….

She heard the sound of tension releasing from a string, and instinctively she dragged the sword in front of her while simultaneously moving behind its cover. As soon as she did so the bolt fired from Eve’s crossbow bounced harmlessly off the blade of the sword. “Nice try….” Jaycee smiled to herself, but now she was in a bit a of predicament, fighting a ranged opponent was something she had always struggled with.

Clair took aim, when the Resonant shard suddenly sprouted two sunflowers, at full height, drawing in sunlight. She fired the bow, training arrow flying past Jaycee, as the two sunflowers continued drawing in sunlight. The arrow eventually hit the crossbow user in the crossbow. If it had been a real arrow and the Crossbow made of wood, it would've made a shot that would've split the crossbow in two on its next firing, if it was metal, a serious dent would've been the result.

"Well, that was a surprise," Clair whispered.

The Sunflowers stopped drawing sunlight, Clair fired again, this time at Leonardo. The shot was a little resonant empowered, and ended up sending Leonardo's shield flying out of his hand. He however, caught his shield.

"Impressive, first year." Leonardo sneered.

After catching his shield, Leonardo shook with anger upon the sight of seeing his comrade tossed to the side, as if she was garbage. Swelling veins could be seen forming on his neck, as he ordered his other two classmates. “That’s enough screwing around! Eve deal with that great sword girl, you have the advantage there! She lacks speed, and you have more range, so keep her at bay with your arrows, while you dodge her attacks.” He’d then turn to face his blonde-haired classmate, whom he directed as well. “Chris, overwhelm the spear and the bow user, and don’t get caught off-guard like Carol. I’ll deal with the gun and dagger users.”

“Pfft, you say it as if I really have to worry, Leonardo.” Chris taunted, before seemingly vanishing within thin air.

--

The once peaceful field was filled with utter devastation, on both ends. Two sides mercilessly duked it out, all because the orders of one sergeant. The spear wielder stood solemnly in the midst of the battle, only truly realizing what was happening once he witnessed Carol get launched from the sudden war zone. He wanted to tell Jaycee to tone it down, because he couldn’t look at her body for long without cringing immensely. However a yellow flash zipped past Rowan, accompanied by a sudden shift in the air in front of him. “What the--!” It didn’t take long for Rowan to understand that the “Chris” kid, somehow managed to close the gap between them with incredible speed. Rowan gritted his teeth as he barely managed to raise his spear in a slanted, vertical position in order to block the incoming onslaught of blows, stemming from the enemy’s twin axes.

“I hate people who can’t back up their words, so I’ll make sure you understand how weak you are, compared to me!” Chris yelled out, the blood lust was clear in his eyes, and his swings were hectic but calculated.
Rowan couldn’t keep his defense up forever, and he knew that, which drove him to try and retaliate with his wind. Though before he could even manage to think of himself shooting a gust of wind, Chris swiftly kicked Rowan’s ankles, causing him to stumble. Unfortunately that wasn’t the end of the wind resonator’s pain, as Chris quickly raised his axes to perform a fast flurry of slashes to Rowan’s torso, before roundhouse kicking him in his jaw, which sent him spiraling to the ground.

“Your turn!” Chris sadistically called out Clair, dashing at her with top speeds. Both axes eagerly stretched out to his sides, waiting for the opportunity to taste more blood.

Leonardo was distracted just long enough for Bea to catch her breath, and she immediately threw herself back at the swordsman. She thrust one of her daggers forward, aiming for Leonardo's neck while he was still facing side-on from her. Moments before her dagger made contact, Leonardo glanced in her direction and whipped around, slamming his sword into Bea's dagger. The dagger fell out of her grasp, landing on the ground a few feet away.

Bea slashed horizontally with the remaining dagger in her left hand, but it glanced off Leonardo's shield. Leonardo then retaliated with a vertical strike, swinging his blade downward at Bea's head. Bea's entire body tensed up in panic.

At that moment, something surged through her. A spark of energy that started in her head and travelled instantaneously through her body. In the blink of an eye, Bea sidestepped to the right, avoiding Leonardo's strike and grabbing ahold of his wrist. She twisted, and Leonardo yelped in pain, dropping his sword which Bea promptly kicked away.

She didn't have time to figure out what just happened, though, as Leonardo slammed his shield into her chest. She was launched backward, landing roughly on the grass near where her other dagger had landed earlier.

Rowan’s vision was engulfed by a thick darkness, it could’ve been mistaken for the afterlife, if it wasn’t for the constant pain that pulsed in his jaw. Though, as the hazy afternoon sky, slowly filled his vision once again- he remembered everything.

Tsk, cheap shot, let me show you what I can really do.. Rowan rolled over on the ground, so that he rested on his stomach. Just as he thought, that blonde-haired, second year really did charge straight for Clair. There was absolutely nothing else he could do to assist his classmate, except trusting his resonant. Realizing that, Rowan quickly extended his right arm forward, and through his bared teeth, plus heavy concentration, a slightly powerful gust of wind was released from his open palm. Fortunately the attack worked, and it caused the unsuspecting second year to stumble forward, losing most of his momentum in the process.

I’m not sure exactly how bows work, but I at least know that a clear shot, leads to a better result. So… “Bow gir-- I mean Clair, now’s your chance!” He shouted through his intensifying adrenaline, as his mind focused on winning and nothing else.

Clair heard Rowan's call and Fired four shots, two at a time. She aimed for the neck, as one bounced off his head and the other bounced off his knee. If those weren't training arrows, Chris would be dead. The other two bounced off his elbows, landing Chris on the ground. Pain surged through Chris, landing him with a massive headache.

"Lucky those were training arrows, otherwise, I'd be dead." Chris got up.

The headache suddenly surged, causing him to drop to one knee.

Kyle had scrambled back, his primary concern to put as much distance between himself and this crazy halberd girl as soon as possible. However, it was a good thing he was on the ground still. Kyle glanced over his shoulder, looking for somewhere to escape, when suddenly there was a blast of heat and wind as something flew right over him. Kyle shielded himself from the sudden heat, and looking back he was surprised to find that Carol was... well, gone. Vanished.

No, not vanished. Kyle looked over to find the halberd girl slumped against a cracked wall, probably nursing a painful concussion. His savior? The teen looked back to see Jaycee turn, deflecting arrows fired by the crossbow girl with her giant flaming sword. So that had been what occurred. But there was no time for thanks now. Even though their comrade had been incapacitated, the remaining three showed no signs of giving up. Kyle stood back to his feet, flipping the front of his cloak over his shoulder so it wouldn't get tangled with his revolver again. Quickly, he drew his second revolver as he surveyed the battlefield. It was clear, just from what he was watching, that if he were to try to go toe-to-toe with these students, he would get thoroughly thrashed. These revolvers would most likely be less effective at close range as well. So Kyle would have to try to pick them off from a distance.

Kyle began to slowly move, keeping his distance from the main fighting in the hopes of not being noticed. However, it was then that Kyle noticed something unusual. The revolver that he held... it was glowing. Engravings on the chamber, handle, and barrel had lit up with a soft, blue, pulsing energy. The same energy that had been emitted by the Water Resonant when Kyle had been holding it. That didn't seem normal... was this an effect of the resonant, or the weapon itself?

Kyle was snapped out of his thoughts when Bea suddenly came to a stop on the ground right next to Kyle. Looking up, Kyle watched as Leonardo picked up his sword and began to charge towards them. On instinct, Kyle pointed the revolver towards the charging Leonardo and fired. A small voice in the back of his head couldn't help but to point out how ridiculous this was. He didn't even know if this was loaded, much less how it worked! But miraculously, the gun fired. A small blur of blue seemed to launch out of the barrel of the revolver... only to splatter harmlessly off the shield of the charging Leonardo, who had raised it to protect himself. Kyle squeezed the trigger again, backing away. Unfortunately, he had forgotten that Bea was on the ground. Kyle tripped over Bea, causing his shot to go high. As he fell, Leonardo finally closed the gap and swung his sword, but barely missed a falling Kyle.

Kyle fell on his back, but before he could do anything Leonardo was above him. The brown haired sword and shield user swung his (training) sword down onto Kyle's head, and with a loud 'THWACK!' Kyle's world faded to darkness.

One, two, three, four arrows… that was all it took to fell the blonde-haired student, that he struggled with no less. Emotions of frustration overwhelmed his short feeling of joy, as he impaled the ground with the bottom of his spear, to assist in his effort of getting back to his feet. Luckily the blows he withstood from earlier, didn’t seem to disrupt his movements too much, but they did sting, badly at that.

Taking a deep breath, Rowan had finally calmed down. The wind resonator glanced at Clair, ready to give credit where it was due. “Ehhm.. Nice shooting, I guess.” Rowan reluctantly complimented, since deep inside he was still disappointed in himself for getting knocked down so easily. “Honestly, I couldn’t have done it mys--” before Rowan could finish expressing his gratitude, a loud, blunt noise echoed throughout the field. Which consequently caused Rowan to divert his full attention to the direction of the gruesome sound.

THWACK

What the, what was that..! Rowan silently shouted within the confines of his mind, as he witnessed Kyle slowly collapse to the ground, then and there. At that moment, the young first-year felt what Leonardo must have. Despite not even knowing the kid for long, Rowan immediately charged at the shield bearing second year, until something magically stopped him dead in his tracks, forcing him to think about the situation first: his own conscience. ...No, that wasn't right, Rowan was never the type to think like that. Could it have been the Resonant's conscience, seeping into his own?

Whatever the case, the fact stood that it helped.
Alright Rowan, think. I'm not as strong as Jaycee, or as accurate as Clair.. so I probably couldn't get past his defenses. Dang it.

Rowan’s sulking gaze fell on to the aforementioned launched, and now fainted Carol again, which surprisingly made Rowan snicker mischievously that time. Maybe we won’t have to get past his defenses, not with that “Giant-sword-wielding-demon” of a classmate we’ve got.. We can just breach them!

Realizing that, Rowan hastily made his way over to Jaycee and lightly tapped her shoulder, before directing his spear at Eve. “You said we’re in this together right? Then I got your back, leave her to me, but do me a favor and get rid of that sword and shielder. Think you can do another crazy strong attack like earlier?” He spoke confidently, even through the ever growing pain that made him want to give up. Because he accepted this was a battlefield now, there wasn’t any time for weakness.

@Foxex

Jaycee grinned, “Keep her off my back and I’ll turn that sword and shield user into paste!” Jaycee shifted her stance once more blocking another bolt from Eve after evading Rowan’s spear, “Eyes, on the enemy, we got this.” Jaycee winked as she turned and dashed towards Leonardo. The massive sword dragging the ground besides her tearing up the arena the thrusters on the back were moderately glowing propelling Jaycee’s speed.

Leonardo heard Jaycee’s approach and had gotten off of the unconscious Kyle, turning around just in time with his shield raised to block the side cleave that Jaycee swung at him, though the thrusters on the blade were not fully active the force was enough to embed the sword into the shield heavily damaging it as Leonardo was knocked off his feet. He landed with a sturdy stance, blood trickling down the bottom of the shield, but he was too focused to feel the pain, he was focused and in the heat of battle. He put his shield up again to block Jaycee’s follow-up kick attack which she utilized the follow-up momentum of her sword swing to slam her blade into the ground for her to use the sword as a solid pivot point to swing her body around. Her kick was solid and carried a lot of force, clearly she had substantial prior training compared to the rest of her teammates, she knew how to properly attack fall through with her attacks.

Leonardo pushed forward behind his shield straight forward smashing into Jaycee with powerful shield slam causing her lose her grip on her weapon knocking her flying away from her blade. She maybe skilled but she’s not the heaviest person, without her blade she’s a lightweight. He charged forward, holding his shield at the ready while he held his sword ready for a strike. He struck downward at the small blonde.

Jaycee blocked the attack with her forearms, putting them up horizontally. The pain was sharp as the practice blade still broke through her jumper and skin. “AHHHHHH!” Jaycee screamed with determination and charged forward into Leonardo, keeping her body low. A lesson from her father that most people on the offense would not expect a defending opponent to ruthlessly charge forward at the attacker’s core after receiving an attack, and Leonardo was no different. As someone which such great defensive capabilities being able to defend his core with his shield so easily, such a direct attack at so close of range renders his shield useless.

She had the momentum for now, Jaycee knew that she was not heavy nor was she tall and it would be easy for Leonardo to regain his footing and push her back. In her lower stance she charged forward while taking a low stance punched forward at his stomach with both her arms throwing her entire body weight and her hips behind the attack. To her surprise her body was engulfed in flames during her changing attack and the fire was now slowly dying out around her.

Leonardo flew back from the attack but his armor had absorbed most of the damage. He did not expect Jaycee to turn into a fireball when she charged him, but luckily the damage was nominal. His shield arm was starting to feel the pain now from her earlier attack. Leonardo quickly scanned the area and found that Jaycee’s great sword was missing.

“Looking for this?” Jaycee said as the sword reformed again in her hands from a bright fire erupting from her chest like before. She swung the sword behind her as if she were going to perform an overhead strike “LETS GO!” Jaycee yelled as she ignited the thrusters on the blade to full power, flames scorching the ground as she took off like a rocket into the air.

“What the hell?” Leonardo looked up at Jaycee in the air, he held up his shield, adrenaline released in his body once more as he braced for the attack, if he could withstand it, Jaycee would wide open for an attack.

In the air Jaycee somersaulted forward, she got about half way through before the thrusters were pointed up into the air and shot her back down to earth in a high velocity downward slash. Her right hand held the first segment of the hilt pulling the lever that ignited the sword as her left arm was resting and pushing down on the spine of the blade in front of her.

Leonardo had turned his shield so Jaycee’s attack would strike perpendicular to the strike he had blocked from her earlier. He could hear the sound of the monstrous blade and its thrusters screaming through the air aiming directly at him. Grimacing, Leonardo tucked and rolled away from the attack at the last moment, coming out of the roll with his shield facing Jaycee’s impact point.

BOOM!

The sound of the impact from the attack sounded like a massive bomb exploding, as a visible shockwave of force and heat radiated out from the impact point in a circle pushing away the dust, rubble, and loose debris. Jaycee was still holding onto the blade but her body was thrown up into the air from the counter force. The impact of the blade created molten cracks in a crater with the entire bladed portion of the blade driven into the ground.

As Leonardo tried to brace for the impact force his guard was still broken as he was blown back. As quickly as he could he regained his footing and charged at her, she was way too dangerous to be running around.

Jaycee had landed back onto her feet and was trying to pull the blade from the ground as she watched Leonardo charge at her. She tugged with all her might and alas the blade came lose, she pulled the blade back by the hilt with the tip till in the ground, erecting a make shift wall with it.

Leonardo struck the great sword as Jaycee dodged around the massive weapon. The following exchange was something that he had not encountered before as he tried slashing and stabbing at the small girl as she dodged, spun, and evaded around the massive weapon sticking vertically out of the ground, all the while Jaycee was counter attacking with quick light punches and kicks, they didn’t really hurt but were annoying.

Another lesson from Jaycee’s father that she learned, since she used such a large weapon, the weapon itself can double as an environment piece that she can control to her advantage. Though Jaycee was moving around quickly and seemingly rather sporadically she was looking for a proper opening and opportunity to counter. After a few moments, the perfect opportunity came up, she was getting to her limit as her muscles screamed in protest at her but she was pushing forward. Just a bit more, just a bit more, I can do it! As Leonardo attacked her with a downward strike, Jaycee grabbed the hilt of her blade, pulled downward while spinning to the side, freeing the bade from the ground so the wide side of the blade was resting on Jaycee’s back and blocking Leonardo’s strike. She shifted her body around and shoved forward along with the blade in a reinforced tackle slamming the side of the blade into Leonardo. His head made contact first dazing him as the rest of the flat side of the blade was shoved into him knocking back onto his butt, dazed and confused. Jaycee swung the sword over her shoulder as she readied for a downward strike.

Leonardo was fighting tooth and nail to stay conscious from the tackle. He held up his shield as the strike came down. This time he felt it, the full weight of the sword hitting the shield, it was nothing like anything he had blocked before, and just the heaviness of the sword was crushing. He felt the weight lift off and he looked up to see Jaycee reading the blade for another strike. How is she holding something so heavy and swinging it around like that…?

“This is where you’re done.” Jaycee said coldly as the thrusters on the blade ignited and the blade swung up and downward at him, he tried to hold up his shield again but the last thing he saw was a bright light and the last thing he heard was 'THWACK!' as his world faded to darkness, and his shield arm was simply numb, not even feeling the attack.

(OOC: No his arm is not severed. Jaycee struck the shield that he held over his head and that impact force from that knocked him out cold... possibly with a pretty severe concussion.)

((OOC: Oof. Sorry for the delay once again, things should be getting back on track around here now.))

"Truly marvelous" a voice emanated from the sidelines, as soon as Jaycee dealt the final blow against Leonardo. "Pardon my intrusion, but you all caught my gaze with your spectacular displays." A blonde haired boy stepped out from the crowd of Second Year students, he wore a crown and bared light blue eyes. His presence drew gasps from the rest of the unsuspecting students on standby. "You may have already realized, but I am the king's eldest son, Prince Arthurre Claude."

Eve immediately bowed with shame, upon hearing the young man's name. "I apologize for disgracing you with our lackluster skills, my prince." She recited from her instructor's teachings. "I concede, this is their victory." She told, moving back to join her other classmates.

"Nonsense, each and every one of you have fought like dragons today. Your class was simply unaware of the resonants' and the underclassmen's potential." Arthurre assured, turning himself to face Miller afterward. "Sergeant, your class is now dismissed. Rest assured, I've already informed the medical staff to take your injured students and treat their wounds, before I arrived." Arthurre clasped his hands behind his back, as he watched the stretchers arrive on the field to take the students. Seeing that, Miller nodded and reluctantly escorted his class back to the building.

Once they were out of sight, retaining the same posture, the prince subtly faced the resonant class. "Despite a few correctable errors, you’ve all exceeded my initial expectations. However…” Arthurre knelt down beside Kyle, and quickly examined his head. “..Good, nothing too serious here. He should be back up fairly soon, thanks to the water resonant as well... Of course I'll still request another stretcher for him, just to be safe." The prince would stand up once again, with his gaze focused on Ms. Hera. "Nevertheless the true reason I've come out here, was to inform you of an immediate, mandatory meeting in the conference room, instructor. The talent your students displayed brought upon this sudden idea-- so you'll have to excuse me for this one, but you should have an idea as to what it'll be about now." Arthurre beamed very slightly, as he turned around and made his way back to the building. "I'll let you wrap-up this classes' lesson, but don't be late."

--

“Mandatory meeting..?” Ms. Hera mumbled under her breath with hidden skepticism, as she watched the prince take his leave, but she soon regained focus on her students. “Anyway, good job everyone! I’m honestly surprised you were able to fend off the Second Years.” She congratulated before her mood became more serious, just as the last medical worker arrived outside. “We should probably get back to the class now, though.” She told, glancing at the medical staff member afterward. “Whenever Kyle wakes up, let him know we’re in homeroom. And don’t forget to give him directions!”

August 8th, NA 98 - Thursday 11:24 AM
Location: Class VI

Leaving the students with an easy-going set of directions, and a short, nonchalant speech that consisted of “have fun, talk to each other, and feel free to explore the campus. I’d say my favorite spots have to be the cafeteria and the dormitory.. for obvious reasons. Try them out yourselves, sometime~.” The classroom soon became empty, with the exception of the scarce amount of students that occupied it.

As a result of this, Rowan slouched over unto his desk and put his head into his arms. His eyes were fixated on the board at the front of the classroom, whilst he attempted to muster the courage to say something to the other students. Yet he figured it was best to wait and see what the others would do first, as he’d most likely just try and tag along. Then again, Rowan was never one to sit around all day, so he glanced at the other students and sat up in his seat, brimming with curiosity. “What do we do now?”

Kyle's eyes slowly fluttered opened. He had a pulsing headache, and his mouth tasted like copper. Kyle could feel some small bandages over the cuts on his face, as well as one that wrapped around his head. He found that he was in a bed in a white room. Not too far away, he could see Leonardo, Chris, and Carol all resting on similar beds. Each of them seemed rather beaten up. Slowly sitting up, Kyle took a moment to survey the room. There were a few other students in what he was now realizing was the sick bay, or infirmary, or wherever they took care of injured students. But strangely enough, there weren't any other members of the resonant class here. What had happened? They couldn't have won, could they? Well, surely it was possible.

"Oh, you're up so soon! Well, we were told to expect that." Kyle looked over to see a nurse approaching.

~~~~~~~~~
A few moments later, Kyle was slowly making his way down the hall. The nurse had filled him in on what was going on. Where the other students were, what the teacher was doing. They had even picked up the revolvers that Kyle had dropped during the battle and had returned it to the student. And although Kyle felt very sore and pained, evidently that was no excuse to stay in the infirmary.
Kyle opened the door to the classroom, looking to each of the students. Just as the nurse had said, the professor was not there. And while a few of the students looked like they had taken some hits, it appeared that the resonant class was the winner of the battle. With no help from him, of course. Slowly, Kyle moved over to the desk he had been sitting at earlier and sat back in it, looking between the rest of the students.
"So... were we given any instructions from the teacher before she left?" Kyle asked the group, not directing the question to any particular person.
