I'll preface this thread by introducing myself, as I'm new to this forum, although not new to the world of RPs or GMing one.
This RP is an idea that's led quite the life, starting first as a Pokémon Journey style RP on the now decrepit Escapist RP forums, resurrected twice, turned into a fanfic/novel idea, and now as I was using the Trainer Card Creator, back into an RP idea.
This RP would take place in Johto, where your character arrives after passing the written exams to hopefully one day become an Interpol agent. It's been years since the events of the main games, and thanks to the tireless efforts of Interpol, the cartoonishly evil criminal syndicates that once plagued the Pokémon world are no more.
That is not to say that a 100% crime free society has been achieved, in fact, it is only because of young recruits such as yourself, that Interpol is able to keep up the unyielding shield of justice.
However, somewhere safe from Interpol's vigilant gaze, a giant tech company, led by its mysterious founder, is preparing to take insidious actions that will once again shake the world to its core, and who else should get involved in this web of danger and intrigue than you, a freshman greener than an Oddish leaf?
This would be a somewhat darker, more mature Pokémon story. We won't be slaughtering Grunts or mainlining hard drugs while using language that would make a sailor blush, but people and Pokémon can and will die and the villains' ambitions will be much more severe than "I like land more than the sea!"
Does this sound like something you'd be interested in playing? If so, here are some rules and regulations (it's quite a read so please, bear with me):
Phew. I think that covers everything. If you're okay with these rules, your next step is crafting your character. Use the sheet example below, as well as the sheet of my character to get an idea of what is being asked
The below sheet is Remy Olivier, a character I've played in different forms since my Escapist RP days. In this one, I'll try my darndest to play him in a way as to serve as a sort of spiritual guide to the rest of the gang, while keeping him from stealing any of the spotlight from the real protagonists: you.
That's pretty much it. While I'm sure I forgot a bunch of stuff, I'm 100% at your disposal for any questions, feedback and any other issues you might have with this idea.
I'm aiming for a 4-6 player game, depending on interest.
Cheers!
EDIT: Just re-read some of the forum guidelines on having Legendaries appear in the RP, as well as the nature of Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves and edited my own rules to reflect that fact. If the RP were to get to a point where I need to contact the staff for these things, I'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Does this sound like something you'd be interested in playing? If so, here are some rules and regulations (it's quite a read so please, bear with me):
Rules:
-No Mary Sue/Marty Stu character's. Goes without saying. Your class will have so-called "genius students" but even they will come with their flaws and issues.
-Be thorough with your writing. My last attempts at making this story into an RP always suffered from that one person who replied in single sentence posts that added nothing to their character, let alone the story. I won't be unreasonably strict, but I do intend to put some effort into crafting this world/story, so I'd appreciate people meeting me half way with their characters/stories.
-I'm not anti-romance, but as with other RPs let's keep it somewhat tasteful.
-Now the real meat & potatoes, your Pokémon team:
-No Legendaries/Mythicals/etc. These MIGHT pop-up at certain points in the story, and who knows, YOUR character MIGHT even get to bark a few orders to them, but otherwise, no dice.
-A quick word on Lucario, Zoroark, Gardevoir/Gallade, and of course the always awesome Dragon-types. These are not banned, but to curb the inevitable flood of sheets with some combinations of the above Pokémon, here's some guidelines:
1) If you do choose one of these. Leave the rest out. I won't approve teams with more than one of the above. Any doubts, feel free to ask.
2) Choosing to be "the one with the Lucario, etc." puts an onus on you to really write up a great character. Lazy writing + overly popular Pokémon is a double foul in my book.
-Your character is a young adult (18-25) and an established Trainer well before joining the academy. You'll have access to a full team of six Pokémon, most of which can be fully evolved, if you so wish. This comes with a couple of exceptions as well:
1) If more than one of your Pokémon has three stages of evolution, only one of them can be fully evolved. This includes trades, items, stones, etc. Let's leave something for the story.
2) If you have a 3-stage Dragon-type, it can't be fully evolved regardless of the amount of three-stagers in your team.
-Using the most recent Movelists for each Pokémon, if your Pokémon can learn the move, it can use the move freely. So-called TM moves are only used for utility. If your Pokémon looks like it can carry you across water, it can. Use common sense, in the sense that a small Fire-type probably can't pull off a very convincing Eruption and Scyther probably can't Fly you to the neighboring town.
-Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves are hard banned until we reach a certain point in the story. When/If we reach that point, players might be able to choose between:
-Having one of their Pokémon, with whom they have a strong connection be able to undergo Mega Evolution once per battle.
-Having one of their Pokémon learn a Z-Move.
-Dynamax/Gigamax is banned. Period. I haven't played the Galar games and while I'm not banning the Gen8 Pokémon, I won't be touching this mechanic with a eight foot pole.
-No Mary Sue/Marty Stu character's. Goes without saying. Your class will have so-called "genius students" but even they will come with their flaws and issues.

Phew. I think that covers everything. If you're okay with these rules, your next step is crafting your character. Use the sheet example below, as well as the sheet of my character to get an idea of what is being asked
Name: Easy. Your character's name and surname here, please.
Age: A number between 18 and 25 goes here. 18 means you probably knew this was your destiny since watching Looker & Co. on TV as a kid. 25 probably means you tried your hand at different career paths before applying.
Gender: Is a construct. Even so, some idea of what your character identifies as would go here.
Hometown: City/Town and Region go here. Feel free to be creative if none of the game locations do it for you, as long as you're fine with the story never going to your hometown.
Appearance: What does your character look like? What do they wear? The academy will give your character a uniform, which we'll go the Japanese route with, with the black 'gakuran' for men and black sailor outfit for women, customization and personalization of the uniform is highly welcomed, however. The more details the better.
Bio: Who is your character? What are they like? Their likes, dislikes? What were they doing before the Academy? This is the be all, end all part of your sheet. Don't write a novel, but do try to deliver an interesting, fleshed out character.
Pokémon:
Name: Nickname, if they have one (Species, ex. Charizard)
Gender: Male or Female, if applicable.
Bio: No need for long stretches of exposition. Just some details about how they became a part of the team, what they are like in/out of battle, team dynamics with other Pokémon, etc.

In this one, I'll try my darndest to play him in a way as to serve as a sort of spiritual guide to the rest of the gang, while keeping him from stealing any of the spotlight from the real protagonists: you.
Name: Remy Olivier
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Hometown: Veilstone City (Sinnoh)
Appearance: Remy is tall, standing at some 6 feet and change and sports the physique of a small lifetime of physical labour. His complexion is fair, as expected of a Sinnohan and a barely visible scar runs over the bridge of his nose. His eyes are a mix of dark green and light brown and his face seems eternally locked in a carefree, dazed expression. Remy's hair is a thick mane of unkempt bright red hair, barely held in place by a pair of old welding goggles.
On his off time, Remy wears an assortment of worn t-shirts with different logos of companies, sports teams, cities, etc., a black hoodie and an old, black leather jacket. Dark gray jeans and a pair of dirty work boots complete the look.
At the academy, Remy wears the uniform's black jacket open with a white dress shirt with the first few buttons left open.
Bio: Remy was born in Veilstone City. Orphaned at a young age, the boy lived alone with his elderly grandmother, barely scraping by with her retirement. One day, Remy came across an injured Zangoose at Veilstone Port, no doubt brought there by the unsavory people who frequented the city's ports and casinos. Despite the Cat Ferret Pokémon's violent protests, the boy somehow managed to drag it to his house, where with the help of his grandmother, nursed it back to health.
A few years later, Remy's grandmother passed away. The now sixteen year old Remy, sold the house and, with his partner Zangoose, took to traveling the world, taking whatever odd jobs came his way, all the while adding Pokémon to his team.
One day, upon returning to Sinnoh from a mining job in Kalos, Remy took what was supposed to be a simple courier job, only to get attacked by two thugs on the way to his destination. The thugs fought dirty and it seemed like Remy's days were numbered, until an Interpol agent intervened, defeating the assailants and saving Remy.
"You're a good kid..." the agent said, picking up Remy's package and dumping its illegal contents into the harbor. "...not too late to go straight, don't you think?"
A year and a barely approved written exam later, Remy now found himself in Goldenrod City, itching to take on the entrance exam into the Johto Interpol Academy.
"Interpol, huh? Well guys.... Looks like we're going straight!"
Remy has a devil-may-care attitude, usually lazy and averse to putting too much effort into anything he doesn't have a vested interested in. He is, however, quite traveled and wise for his age. Remy is also a loyal friend, and won't hesitate to help a friend in need, no matter how much trouble that might entail.
While Remy is no slouch as a Trainer, it's unlikely he'll go all out unless it's important.
Pokémon:
Name: Zangoose
Gender: Male
Bio: Zangoose is Remy's first Pokémon, allowing itself to be captured after the getting attached to its caretaker. Nowadays, Zangoose is almost more in charge of "Remy's gang" than Remy himself, its serious nature a stark contrast to its Trainer's lax attitude. Despite its severe nature, Zangoose holds the team very dear, and would do anything to protect them. Like all Zangoose, it absolutely can't stand Seviper.
In battle Zangoose attacks fast, hard and at close range, aiming to give an opponent as little breathing room as possible.
___________________________________________________________
Name: Sneasel
Gender: Male
Bio: Sneasel was Remy's second capture, caught while Remy worked at a logging camp on Route 217. It was one of a pack of Sneasel stealing food from the camp. Remy and Zangoose volunteered to keep a lookout one night and managed to take them down, catching one of them in the process.
While Sneasel's antics frustrate Zangoose, the two tend to operate on terms of mutual respect. Its thieving ways do have their uses from time to time, and Sneasel can often be seen travelling on Remy's shoulder, from where it scouts for possible capers.
In battle Sneasel's strength is its blinding speed. It will strip its opponents of their items and pummel them with its different claw attacks.
_________________________________________________________________
Name: Primeape
Gender: Male
Bio: Primeape is the furious enforcer of Remy's team and his third capture. Caught as a Mankey on Kanto's Route 22 as Remy was on his way to yet another odd job. Now a Primeape, the Fighting-type is not overly difficult for Remy to control, however, its lack of discipline tends to hinder its ability to measure up to other Fighting-types. It sees itself as a big brother towards Darumaka, often teaching the younger Pokémon how to punch, stomp and smash.
In battle, Primeape smashes. It will go at the opponent relentlessly with a set of wild swings, chops and kicks, until one side loses.
_______________________________________________________
Name: Tentacruel
Gender: Male
Bio: Remy and his gang bumped into Tentacruel as a Tentacool while working at a takoyaki stand, at the beach in Olivine City. Remy needed a Water-type for easier travel and Tentacool was just sitting there, in the shallows.
Now a Tentacruel, Remy uses it mainly for water transportation, or for battles that can't be won with brute force.
While not unfriendly, Tentacruel prefers to avoid the company of others, spending much of its time in quiet contemplation.
In battle, Remy uses Tentacruel to stall the opposition with barriers and status ailments, or attack opponents who can't be defeated via claws and fists.
______________________________________________________
Name: Darumaka
Gender: Male
Bio: Remy found Darumaka while working on a highway maintenance crew on Unova's Route 4. What was supposed to be a simple capture, soon turned into a debacle when the tiny Fire-type proceeded to one-hit K.O. all of Remy's Pokémon, except Tentacruel. After poisoning, confusing and wrapping up the Darumaka, Remy was finally able to capture it.
Much to Remy's chagrin Darumaka's sweep seems to have been a fluke, as it hasn't been able to reproduce such results in battle since. Its Fire Punch is ridiculously powerful WHEN it hits, but Darumaka seems to miss much more often than other Pokémon would, when using the same move.
For now Darumaka mainly spends his time sleeping in Remy's hood, consuming three times his body weight in food and play-fighting with Primeape.
In battle, Darumaka either blows its opponent away with one hit, or loses.
________________________________________________________________
Name: Noibat
Gender: Male
Bio: Remy's most recent addition to the team, caught in Terminus Cave in Kalos, where Remy worked as part of a mining crew. Noibat didn't put up much of a fightand was quickly captured, leading Remy to think that this Pokémon wasn't worth the effort. That is, until his Kalosian co-workers told Remy what to expect from Noibat's eventual evolution.
For the time being, however, Noibat remains the team's lovable little brother. Although it hasn't seen much action, Noibat is eager to become a reliable member of the team.
In battle, Noibat flits around the battlefield doing Flying-type hit-and-runs on the opponent, while trying to confuse them with sound-based attacks.
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Hometown: Veilstone City (Sinnoh)
Appearance: Remy is tall, standing at some 6 feet and change and sports the physique of a small lifetime of physical labour.
