"Blastoise, Rapid Spin again." Jack ordered, with a little smile on his lips. The Blastoise went in to his shell, blocking the explosions.

"Blastoise, get up close and use Bite!" Jack knew that this was a risk, because Sceptile's were famous for being incredibly dangerous in close-combat, so Jack would have to trust the power of Blastoise's jaw.

Blastoise went back into it's shell again, and shot himself against the Sceptile. When he was close he went out of his shell an opened his jaw, ready to bite the opponent hard.

"Scepter, cloak yourself with Leaf Storm!" Tim said, seeing the razor sharp jaw of Blastoise clamp down on Scepter's arm. Scepter roared, releasing another hurricane of cutting leaves. He shook Blastoise loose and snatched some of the leaves out of the air.

"That's right!" Tim beamed, "Let's change the playing field!"

Following a shaky, possibly absurd combo Tim had come up with while sitting in the Lush Jungle, Scepter used his super charged leaves to wrap one large Seed Bomb. Hurling the bomb in the air, it detonated into lots of tree seeds, doing no damage, but sprouting medium sized trees over the previously barren field.

"It... worked?" Tim stumbled back, amazed.

Scepter sprang into a tree, scanning for Blastoise, who he'd lost in the chaos.

Jack was shocked at how Tim had changed the entire battlefield to his advantage. But he knew that there had to be a loophole somewhere. Jack saw the Sceptile trying to find Blastoise, and then he saw a pretty deep hole, that Jack guessed was from a Seed Bomb explosion.

"Blastoise, fill that hole with water using Hydro Pump!" The Blastoise started sending out loads of water, quickly filling up the hole. When it was filled Blastoise jumped into the water, were he was as strong as possible.

Dylan arrived to the spectator stands just in time to see the trees sprout, and was disappointing at the fact he missed most of the battle. "darn it! i missed a lot of it, didn't i?" Dylan took a seat and watched the battle unfold, mostly because he liked battling, but still knew he had to find out the strategies of his opponents.

Scepter was splashed with some of the water from the pump, immediately grabbing his attention.

"Alright, pal, flush that Blastoise out with Dragon Pulse!" Tim said. Scepter sprung off of the tree branch, into the air, and roared and a ripple of intense draconic energy tore towards the makeshift lake.

The Dragon Pulse was flying towards Blastoise, but he reacted quicker than Jack. In a second Blastoise was inside his shell, spinning so fast that when tha Dragon Pulse hit him, it was sent back towards the Sceptile. But spinning so much made Blastoise really dizzy, and he fainted.
"Good job Blastoise, return." Jack said, as he oulled out a new Pokéball. Jack opened it and there stood Gallade, his most powerful Pokémon, ready to battle.

Scepter was flung back by the reflected Dragon Pulse, landing with a thud.

"You did it!" Tim grinned, "Kinda! Now take a rest and let Joy take care of this!"

Tim switched out Scepter for Joy, the Grumpig. She would be the defensive counter for such a Pokemon as Gallade.

"Alright, Joy, set up a Reflect," Tim said. She spread her arms, letting out a psychic defense that would limit the amount of physical damage Gallade could deal.

"Well then Gallade, use Light Screen." The Gallade used his arms to create a screen in front of him, making a screen that would lower the amount of damage from Grumpig's special attacks.
"Now Gallade, use Shadow Ball!" Jack was prepared for this.

"Light Screen!" Tim blurted. He hadn't guessed that Gallade would be a Special Attacker as well. Luckily, Joy threw up a Light Screen seconds before the Shadow Ball hit. It still made contact, but did a bit less damage than it would have.

"Gather your focus for Zen Headbutt," Tim said.

The Grumpig closed her eyes and breathed deeply, trying to achieve a state of peace in the heat of battle.

"Gallade, Brick Break!" Gallade's swords that he had on his arms sharpened, before he started running in incredible speed against the Grumpig, breaking both Reflect and Light Screen.

"Now when you're up close, use Night Slash!" Gallade's swords turned black now instead, and he started slashing towards the Grumpig.

Without any additional defenses, the super effective Night Slash tore through Joy's low defense. The once jolly Grumpig fell on her rump, ready to pass out.

Tim was trying to keep Scepter safe so he could sweep in the end of the battle. Joy was going to have to tough this out. "Psychic!" he yelled as he sprayed Scepter's wound with a Potion. Joy's eyes widened. She didn't know the move Psychic, that was Lono! Joy only knew Psyshock. By the time Tim had realized his mistake, it was all too late to attack.

Jack saw in Grumpig's eyes that she didn't know the move Psychic, and it was the perfect opportunity for attacking.
"Gallade, Night Slash once again!" The Gallade started slashing towards the Grumpig once again, his swords turning black again.

Grumpig curled into a ball, trying to protect herself. As Tim snapped back to the battle, mentally berating himself for taking his eyes off of the combat, he issued the order to set up another Reflect, hoping to buy a few seconds.

Alas, it was too late. Joy was down for the count.

"That one's on me," Tim admitted in a sigh, "Joy, return."

Scepter, still on the sidelines with Tim, gave him a knowing look. He'd just been healed up. It was time to shine.

"Alright Sce-"

In a flurry of motion, Ahe the typically mellow Drampa exploded onto the battlefield. He'd sensed Joy's defeat and he was... pissed. He roared, calling down a hail of glorious meteors. Draco Meteors, to be precise.

"Ahe!" Tim exclaimed, seeing the battle slip away from him, "Get back!"

It was bad enough that Ahe had jumped into battle without being called. Now he was using a move that dragged his Special Attacking abilities through the mud. This was supposed to be their finisher. Tim just had to cross his fingers. There was no quenching Ahe's bloodlust until Joy was avenged.

The meteors shot down against the Gallade, who quickly doged them all.
"Gallade, Night Slash!" Gallade jumped extremely high up before shooting himself towards the target, slashing through the air. Jack was almost 100% certain that his strategy would work.

Ahe, bristling with unbridled rage, charged headfirst into the Gallade to meet the Night Slashes. It was a powerful Giga Impact attack.

"Ahe, no!" Tim shrieked, not wanting the dragon to have to rest next turn. That'd give Gallade too good of an opportunity to attack.

"Gallade, dodge it." Jack said. The Gallade smoothly avoided the Drampa, and landed on the ground. "Shadow ba..." Jack saw something coming towards the Gallade, in high speed. It was one last Meteor from the Draco Meteor earlier. Jack tried to tell Gallade to dodge it, but it was to late. The meteor crashed into Gallade, sending him flying across the battlefield. You could barely see the body off the Gallade, and it wasn't moving.

Finally satisfied, the behemoth that was Ahe fell into a deep slumber. Snoring, slowly healing the cuts of the Night Slash.

"That... worked?" Tim asked, befuddled. He turned to look at Scepter, who shrugged. "Stay warm, Scep, you're up next," Tim advised.

Jack thought that Gallade had fainted, but he was clearly wrong. Out of the smoke, the Gallade came in incredibly high speed, his eyes red of anger, and his swords as dark as the night. His arms slashed against the sleeping Drampa, trying to get in a good hit on the foe.

Ahe, unable to fight back, succumbed to the injuries dealt by Gallade. He fainted in his sleep.

This guy's playing to win, Tim thought, glancing back at Scepter, his last remaining Pokemon. So far, Jack had felled so many more of Tim's Pokemon than Tim had Jack's. This was going to be close. But Tim wasn't exactly slacking off either. He had a tournament to win.

"Scepter, make 'im pay!" Tim yelled after swapping out the defeated Drampa.

The Sceptile screeched as it landed on the field. He quickly used Bulldoze, steamrolling towards Gallade while knocking over and dragging with him every tree that he could. By the time he got close to Gallade not only was he chugging only at intense speeds, but also pushing three trees ahead of him with the same momentum.

Gallade was able to dodge the Bulldoze, but the Sceptile tackled him, making him fly across the field.
"Shadow Ball!" Jack shouted, but he knew he didn't stand a chance. The shadow ball flew against the Sceptile, hopefully in exact aim. But the Gallade was so tired that he fainted on the spot.

"Nice Gallade." Jack said quietly as he returned the Gallade and took out a new pokeball. He opened it, and out came a Charizard. "Flamethrower!" It was a simple move, but would deal a great amount of damage if it hit.

"You've got to be kidding me," Tim muttered as Scepter danced around the flames that twirled closer and closer. They reached the trees, setting the makeshift forest Scepter had set up ablaze. Jack knew what he was doing, no doubt. Using Tim's own terrain against him? Genius.

But it won't be enough, Tim grinned. He could still do this. Take out the super effective Charizard. He had the right moves. And Scepter, after all, was his first Pokemon. One who would follow him to the ends of the Earth. They could do this. Together.

Tim went full focus, scanning the battlefield. The trees, burning. The ground scorched. But also torn up- from Scepter's previous Bulldoze. In fact, there was still a large pile of rubble from where Scepter had ended his Bulldoze assault. Obviously, this was no basis for a new forest. They had no more environmental advantages. But maybe that could be okay.

"Scepter, we're still in this!" Tim hollered, "Come here!"

Scepter didn't even hesitate. He leapt through a wall of flames, taking considerable damage, but making his way over to Tim. Tim leaned in and whispered something. Scepter grinned.

The Sceptile ran back the way he came, sliding under the shrinking flames, and positioning himself so that the pile of rubble was between him and Charizard.

Then, locking in, he unleashed a Dragon Pulse as hard as he could. The rubble was swept up in the blast, all hurtling towards Charizard along with the draconic energy.

The Charizard flew through the air, taking cover behind what was left of the burning trees. The dragon pulse hit the tree that Charizard was hiding behind, cutting it in half. Charizard dodged the Dragon Pulse, but it was a close on.
"Dragon Tail." Jack said, and Charizard new exactly what he was supposed to do.

The part of the tree that had been cut was still in the air, and Charizard aimed a full blown Dragon Tail against it, but making sure it wouldn't break. The tree flew against the opponent, with Jack hoping it would hit.

The timber smacked Scepter head on, giving him no time to react. His knees buckled, and he collapsed. Breathing heavily, he held up one clawed finger. He looked up to see the dragon across the field.

Just one second, Scepter seemed to say, trying to steady his heartrate.

Tim actually... relaxed. He was okay. This was it. The battle was essentially over. Scepter was just asking for a graceful end. But--- Tim didn't mind. He was proud of his Pokemon. Some of them had strayed from the plan, yes, but everyone gave it their all. He was excited to keep training with them.

"Scepter, great job," Tim said under his breath, gazing at the near-defeated Sceptile, "We tried our best."

Jack realizing that Sceptile was Tim's last Pokemon, he smiled.
"Charizard, finish it off." The Charizard flew down and tried to smack Sceptile with its tail. The battle was pretty much over, Sceptile was in no shape to continue the battle.

As Scepter fell one last time and returned to his Pokeball, Tim smiled. With the crowd roaring, he could barely hear the announcer applaud Jack, the victor.

Tim made his way across the deformed battlefield and offered Jack a handshake, "That was exhilarating, man! Kept me on my toes. That's gotta be one of my favorite battles to date."

"Yeah, it was really fun. Don't go easy on me next time." Jack said, with a smile on his face, and shook Tim's hand. "I'd be glad to train with you sometime. That Sceptile of yours was really strong, a true champion.

The crowd was going wild. from that point, Dylan, REALLY knew there would be tough competition. sure, he had said this before, but the end of that battle really brought it home. "that was intense!" said Dylan. he though to himself about strategies he could use against Jack's team, but was having trouble thinking of anything because of how intense the battle was. he was to exited to think. He then had the idea to look over the battle footage after he calmed down, It was lucky that they let trainers do that.

"Let me know if you ever get around to Hoenn, that's where I'll be for a while," Tim said, "I'd love to train with you for another battle one day. My number's on the registration board."

With the tournament moderators rushing them off the battlefield, Tim gave a final wave as he exited the arena.

"Sure will do." Jack said, walking back to his tent. He sat down after he had healed his Pokemon, and released all of them so they could stretch a bit. He made food while thinking of who he would battle next.
