Following Fuyuki up the stairs to the roof, Daichi thought for a moment before responding.
"Well, I've been doing it for a long time. My parents signed me up for boxing when I was 8. They wanted to make sure I'd be able to, uh, y'know... Defend myself." Daichi said. "It was pretty fun. Even ground. I, uh, know I said boxing in class, but, uh... I do a bit more than that nowadays."
Dang it all, why did he feel so nervous talking about this? It was just something he liked to do. True, it was a bit more of a hobby to Daichi, but still. Taking a breath, he continued.
"To tell the truth, I'm, uh, part of a Youth Mixed Martial Arts club. I took Muay Thai lessons when I was 11, and Brazilian Jujuitsu lessons when I was 14. So, yeah, I guess you can say it's a bit of a hobby. Boxing was a pretty good start for MMA. It taught me stuff like how to punch, how to block, to distance an opponent, good form. A lot of basics that carry through to a lot of other styles." Daichi said, smiling sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head.
Finally reaching the top of the stairs, Daichi opened the door to reveal the roof of the school. It was a gray, dirty, open space. It took Daichi a moment to realize that they were on the roof, as there seemed to be some sort of ceiling overhead. But another moment's inspection made the boy realized that the 'ceiling' he was looking at was actually just the bridge that ran over the school. Putting his hands on his hips, he walked onto the roof and took another look around before nodding.
"Huh. Not bad." Daichi said before turning back to Fuyuki. "So now what?"
