Open CoDA - (A Superpower RP) Still Accepting New Arrivals

Riley let out a huge breath after reaching the island. How she had managed to swim all the way over here she had no idea. To be fair, she wasn't going to just fail on her first exam. She refused. But physical exercise was not her strong suit for sure... She gazed at her surroundings while ringing water out of her shirt and her hair. She had made sure she hadn't ended up with the others, as she knew she wouldn't do well in a fight until she got more used to her surrounding and what she was up against. Seeing as the jungle was her best option for coverage, she made her way there, checking every now and again that nobody had seen her. She kept her bell close to her as she entered the brush.

Toby felt uneasy, every so often he looked over his shoulder as if he was about to get jumped at any given moment. Which wasn't too far from the truth actually, he just escaped from a slime boy and he didn't truly buy his scared act. For all he knew Slimey could be inside his bell, and he was not having that. He dropped his puddle in the stream and made sure that it was clean before removing it and continuing on his way, still unable to find anyone despite the large amount of students at the academy. "I suppose it could be worse, but come on!"

"That's no problem!" Suzy responded to Andrew, "All you guys need to do is pile sand over me!" Suzy then made a bit of a worried expression, and said, "Just be sure not cover my face in sand, please."

The three would eventually arrive on shore of the island, and Suzy was the first one to get off the boat. She would then run over to an area which was covered in giant boulders and close to the forest of the island. Hopefully, Lily and Andrew would find some use for this area.

Suzy then exited her body near the area and began to survey the island. Little did she know, she and her group were being watched. By whom? Well, by Ramon de la Cruz of course!!! With his genius planning and coordination, he was able to find an area in which he could seclude himself and his group of lovely women (harem) and spied on Suzy's group.

He came up with the most intelligent plan to catch Suzy and her group when they would least expect it, and take their bells from them! Honestly, Ramon has it all! Looks, intelligence, and power! What else could you want from a man!? Yet, the beautiful Suzy would still leave him, and, to top it all of, go out with a boy so insecure Ramon could feel the insecurity from a mile away! But with his plan, Ramon will get his revenge and show Suzy what's for!
(Last two paragraphs written by Ramon de la Cruz~)

Meanwhile, Suzy was out surveying the island. Nothing seemed to be too much out of the ordinary. She could spot plenty students who also had the plan of hiding during the exam, which Suzy would tell Lily and Andrew where they're hiding as soon as she goes back to her body. Suzy kept surveying the area, and hadn't found anything too unusual. Though, many students had begun to fight, whichcould prove useful if Suzy and her group were to encounter them after a fight.

Though, Suzy thought that she had enough information was ready to return to her body, when suddenly she could sense an extremely powerful spiritual aura. Suzy looked around, and noticed that the Headmaster had also already begun to attack! The level of power he possessed, it was insane. Even though Suzy and him were a far distance from each other, she felt as if though she was only a fly compared to the strength the Headmaster possessed.

Suzy shook her head, and made sure to keep the area the Headmaster was at in check. She then started to soar back to the area she left her body at.

Finding a fairly decent spot to camp out in, Riley finally managed to sit and take a breather. She realized if she concentrated hard enough, she could feel the other’s dreams and nightmares wanting to flood their way into her head. She had to keep them out for now. Until she ran into someone, she would have to keep them out. Riley realised she was hungrier than she thought. The problem was she wasnt much of a scavenger. The only food she could make were a few spanish dishes, and she highly doubted this island had any of those ingredients. Sighing, she decided to take a small nap. Resting up after a long journey in the water couldnt hurt... she put her bell safely under some leaves beside her and rested her head against a large tree. Just a small nap...

Internally rolling his eyes at the spray of water, Sky flexed his own aerokinesis, pushing one of the twin columns to the muddy ground. The other one he let fly, deciding to allow the girl at least a small victory in the form of his drenching.

This turned out to be a misjudgment. Sky had underestimated the potency of the sediment, which gave the muddy water the feeling of acid on skin. Immediately, Sky attempted to shift to his natural form and rid himself of the stuff, but something grabbed onto his foot, slathered in mud. Shifting back whilst something as concentrated as mud touching his skin was near impossible, and only served to move the burning feeling down to his foot as well.

From the outside, this was barely showing. An onlooker would only see expressionless, with perhaps a slight gritting of his teeth.

Sending a blast of wind below him, Sky suddenly moved a large chunk of air the second he saw the slime, creating a vacuum that managed to catch a tendril of the thing and pull it to the surface enough that he could simply lift it into midair and dump it next to Melusine

His attention back on the girl, Sky nodded in approval. "Good move. Distracting me with the water whilst your friend went below. Or opponent, I can't really tell."

Echo
"I see someone," Echo telepathically whispered to Celia, pointing among the trees. Celia had insisted they go into the jungle first, and it had turned out to be a good move. Among the trees, Echo could see two people; a boy and a girl (OOC: Kevin and Aura). Turning back to the dryad, she asked, "What's the plan? Do we go for them?"

Riley had a troubled sleep. Everyone’s dreams and nightmares kept invading her mind, some of them incredibley terrifying, some of them sweet and heartwarming. Everyone’s fears and desires. Some of them were funny, and she paid attention to those mostly for her amusement. As she slowly awoke, the first thing she felt for was her bell. Feeling it exactly where she had left, she smiled and relaxed a bit. Finally she got up, feeling more refreshed than ever. She was still a bit cold, but she knew how to make fire with a few sticks, so that was no concern of hers right now. What she needed was to go find another bell. Sure they had a week, but the earlier she could get those 3 points the better she would feel. And now she had the other’s fears to hang over their heads if she got into a fight, which would most likely happen. She sighed and set off to find her peers.

Liam was excited that his plan to grab the headmaster worked, but only for a moment. The headmaster yanked him out of the ground and threw him next to his newfound ally. Liam did notice that the headmaster gritted his teeth; this meant that the pair was actually doing some damage. Melusine most likely noticed the same thing. He also realized he was excited that he hurt someone, this island was changing him faster than he cared to admit.

"Th-thank you, sir. I'm g-glad you approve. That's high p-praise coming from you.

Lily and Andrew were quick to follow Suzy, as she moved by an area covered with boulders, a fair location and given it had been close to the entrance of the forest on the island allowed for Suzy to have plenty to work with. Andrew himself found the spot workable, as he could use the rocks as cover; if he had to fight of course.

Already Lily began to plant the literal seeds to make some traps, while Andrew worked to keep watch of the area and scout over Suzy's body which had been propped to remain hidden behind on the rock. Flat on her back so she was not in an uncomfortable position while Andrew acted as the eyes while Lily laid out her traps. Both seemed unaware of Roman's presence, least on a surface level for now, though both Lily and Andrew kept a sharp eye out around them.

Lily in particular had this feeling they were being watched. Something she hoped would chalk up to paranoia as they guarded Suzy's body.

Riley froze when she noticed three people near the entrance of the forest. She was enough distance away from them and under enough cover so they wouldn't spot her, but she didnt like her chances with this battle...three against one seemed pretty unfair. Actually...as Riley honed in on the cries and the fear emanating from the subconscious of their minds, she could pick up a fourth person nearby. Riley gazed around but was confused as nobody seemed to be there. Nobody she could see with her own eyes at least. She could sense all of them a mile away though. She decided it was best to keep her position hidden for now until she could clearly see what was going on. Nothing about this situation seemed right.

Melusine

Slitted eyes lolled in their sockets, a contemptuous harrumph from the Snake girl signified her displease. High praise or not, a good try amounted to just that, a try. The human-hydra hybrid had always been an advent believer in the saying, 'if at first, you don't succeed, try, try, and try again.' and that's precisely what she intended to do. When Liam and the Headmaster had finished exchanging pleasantries, she had already closed half the distance between herself and the Air spirit. Her nails brandished, flashing through the air from a distance, droplets of venom flicked from her fingers and send haphazardly through the air. She didn't know how well her venom affected elementals, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

Toby sighed, he was unable to find anyone except that slime kid and he knew that he could not beat him. He found some water, but he refused to stay there. He would be an easy target there and if he was going to struggle in this exam, he would make others struggle too. He drank some water from the stream and made his way to the edge of the forest, enemies would be heard when moving throught the bushes if they would attack him, giving him a good warning to get up and fight.

The edge was not much better than the inland, but he felt more confident about this area. He still couldn't fly to his maximun capability, but he could atleast get off the ground now. Toby climbed up in a tree and forced himself to fly up, gaining some altitude. He had to strain his eyes a bit, but he saw an area surrounded by boulders and although it was faint, he saw some movement inside. He soon dropped back onto the tree and climbed back down, sticking to the treeline as he made his way there. If he was lucky, he would get a couple bells. If he was unlucky, well he'd see what he'd do when it came that far. For now, he just wanted to kill the tension of doing nothing and replace it with actually doing something. Maybe he could use this sand to compensate for his lack of flight?

Thanks to the boys unique capabilities, Aaron had managed to make onto the island in a shirt amount of time.
"Well, guess I can add water skiing to my list of techniques..." The gravity generator mumbled internally, thinking back to his unsteady hop, skip, and bounce to the shoreline, one arm sprawled out behind him to be used as a makeshift jet.

After arriving, the boy had emersed himself in the dense foliage, knowing that becoming aware of his surrounding was priority number one.

During the boys hidden scouting, it became very apparent others made quick haste of entering combat, which is just as he'd hoped...

Since Ella wasn't a good swimmer at all, She began to transform into her butterfly form, Her Pink Wings grew from her back and she flew out of the water. It was significantly harder because the water was making her cold, she was struggling to keep herself in the air for long. Ella had an idea; she began to shrink, as small as she could and flew up closer to the sun. Surprising her, the plan worked and it slowly began easier for her to fly. She flew the whole way to the Island, Staying as small as she could.

When Ella arrived at the island, she took a quick glance at her surroundings. Ella planned to disguise herself as a butterfly for now so she wouldn't be bothered by other students. Antenna's Grew out of her head and a Proboscis replaced her mouth. She now almost looked like a butterfly.. 'Good enough..' Ella said and quickly went into the jungle flying close to the ground, unaware of what to do now that she had arrived

Tired of waiting, Riley took her chance to take one of the bells and get out. She noticed another kid with wings had the same idea, but her plan wasnt to take out the winged kid. Maybe he wouldnt attack her if he realized she wasnt against him. For now. She decided to hone in on the guy standing gaurd (andrew) as he was the only one not busy. Feeling out his brain waves, she found the one that carried his innermost fears and worries. She could feel his worst nightmare coming to life already. Closing her eyes to get better concentration, she felt a small zap in her head when she connected with his mind, she slowly drew out these fears to make them a reality..

Celia

Burying her legs in the ground, the Hamadryad took root, connecting herself to the network of roots all around them. She focused her attention on the trees directly surrounding their prey, using those trees as nodes with which to observe Kevin and Aura. Once she'd got a fix on their positions, she nodded to Echo, and thought back an answer, 'Go for it, I'll support you.'

The Dryad flipped her ability on, Resonating with Echo, amplifying the girl's power by a small amount. Celia's flowers unfurled, her leafy dress growing lusher as she sunk herself into sync with the nature around them. Her two sparrows took to the trees, soundlessly making their way towards Kevin and Aura.

Lucas was struggling to swim all the way to the island since he wasn't physically built at all and he was not a strong swimmer, His powers weren't helpful in anything relating to swimming either. Infact, his powers made him afraid of swimming at places like local pools because he was afraid he would contaminate the water whenever toxic poisons excreted out of his mouth. He managed to get half way before struggling to stay afloat. He was flapping his arms all over the place, hoping maybe a teacher was watching and get him to safety. He slowly submerged into the water and drown.

~~

Cade was extremely annoyed at everything. He hated exams, He hated that his powers wouldn't able him to skip the swimming part by just flying. He hated that his powers enhanced other people more than himself. His eyes were glowing a bright red. He also felt somewhat glad he was angry since when he was angry he enhanced physical strength which is exactly what he needed in this scenario. He got about halfway when he saw someone drowning. Not really caring who it was, he swam over as fast as possible and placed his hand on their head, giving them more strength.

~~

The strength given by Cade was more than enough to pull himself up. Although he was still tired he now thought he could make it to the island. He turned around to see who saved him. 'Of course it was Cade...' He thought.

"Listen, I know you hate my guts and I hate yours but lets argue about it on shore, My power won't enhance you forever," Cade told Lucas before swimming to shore.

Lucas reluctantly followed, plotting what to do when they arrive on shore.

Without missing a beat, Sky held out his hand, sending a blast of wind down on Melusine and forcing her to the muddy ground. "However," he continued, "she's got the right idea. Honest tactics never get you anywhere in a fight." Lifting the girl up, he once again slammed her back down to the ground with a smirk. "Like so."

Now that she had a chance, Echo thought this would be as good a time as ever to test out the power she mirrored back on the cliff. It felt dark, and the shadows cast by the trees suddenly seemed a bit more... real. Almost tangible. Taking a step forward, she focused on the shadows around the two students and the darkness below her suddenly because more of a liquid. She sunk down, and re-emerged dead in front of them, looking around in bewilderment.

"Something's wrong."
Aura and Kevin had walked side by side when Kevin made that open comment about them. Aura glanced over to his friend concerned. Kevin had extended his tongue out in place and pulled it back, as he repeated the motion a couple of times in succession while his lizard attributes and ability to pick up the heat of others in the air with his tongue seemed to note that a pair of figures had been near their area.

Had, being the important word as one of the signatures seemed to vanish. No, not vanish, diminish as Kevin felt it move along the environment around them; that subtle warmness of the body that offered a slight contrast to the temperature of the jungle. But hard to track or trace all the same, and enough for his certain other voice to chime in.

And so the hunt begins. Looks like you are prey right out the gate, how shamefully ill prepared you are.

Quiet.
Aura glanced at Kevin as the shadows around them someone seemed to appear before them. Which caused their immediate attention to shift to the arrival though Kevin had remained mindful of that warmth that moved around the, as the pair seemed on the defense as Aura's hands began to glow snow white while Kevin's body shifted into his partial reptilian form as dark green scales coated his body and his eyes shifted to primal yellow while his tongue subtly extended out and in to feel the heart of the new arrivals.

"So....I take it you are here for our bells?" Aura asked though it seemed obvious, even as she began to subtly cover the area by her feet with ice while she spoke. Seemed she had an idea in mind, though had been careful not to expose it too close to Kevin while Kevin himself spoke up.

"Not alone it seems. Though our second arrival s-seems a bit on the shy side." Kevin said, as it frustrated him to no end that he could not find whoever this heat came from despite knowing they were there. Almost as if....almost as if they were one with the forest! Kevin had to not dwell on it, if a fight was unavoidable then so be it. He had faith he and Aura could prevail, though Kevin considered his options and possibly escape routes.

Rebecca had made her way to a river further into the island, thankfully she had avoided detection by any of the other students or staff to this point as she used a canteen on hand to try and scoop up some fresh water. In a survival exercise it was imperative to have some on hand, as her focus first was to set up camp for herself rather than go seek out somebody.

It was but the first day, no sense in exhausting herself against students when they'd be at their most fresh. She'd be mindful of her surroundings as she scooped up her water before she worked to find a suitable place to set up shop as it were.

Tatsuya had changed into a peregrine falcon and scanned the island from the air. He was seeking out Ramon, prepared to give the "Latin Lover" a piece of his mind, and possibly to snatch his bell. Clay was with Ryka elsewhere.

Kendra was flying above Ash, who she had set down. Cody had paired with Erin. Tia had landed on the island and was searching for water.

Since Liam noticed the mud had hurt him the last time, he formulated a plan. He started to absorb the mud into his slime. Once enough was absorbed into his system he started to shoot little-compacted pieces of slime and mud at Sky. While he would probably dodge these "bullets" of slime, it would leave him distracted and open for an attack from Melusine.

Melusine

Face-down in the mud, a viciously vengeful gleam in her pupils the snake girl took a hint and didn't make any drastic movements. Her ribs ached slightly from the abusive treatment of the headmaster, and the force of impact had ruptured both of the water pouches that'd been hidden on her body. The sacks, though destroyed, had managed to cushion some of the blows, leaving the girl with only bruises and disorientation rather than anything more serious. While the girl remained visually docile, she was nothing if not a serpent, crafty and conniving. With subtle motions, the water that had spilled from her water-sacks surrounded the headmaster. When Liam launched his attack, her eyes narrowed into slits, golden-amber pupils shining as she forced the water to erupt into a wall of mud around Sky, hoping Liam's distraction would prove rather useful. Fortunately, her more passive displays earlier had allowed her some time to recover her senses, so her abilities hadn't suffered by much.

Kikiro had seen some of the other students decide to prepare for exam and decided to do the same, carrying things he considered "camping necessities" in a backpack he had in his dorm. He had experienced camping with his grandfather in the past and decided to keep the backpack he had used those years ago. He returned to the cliff only for it to be destroyed by one of the staff explaining the exam.

He grinned as his backpack was still there since he began to fly before he could drop too low and it strapped to him perfectly fine. He was among the first to make it to the island but decided to stay hidden and scout the forest and island instead. With the help of his map, he was able to mark places he decided noteworthy and retrieved some herbs which his pamphlet deemed safe. With night approaching, Kikiro decided it would be a good time to scout for people setting up places to spend the night or in the middle of battles, in order to wait for them to be tired and then sweep in for their bells.

He was scouting for people and noticed a slight movement above some trees near the edge of the forest. Kikiro decided to investigate and went down the trees where he saw the movement. He found someone looking at some boulders and decided to sneak up on them. He stealthily went behind them and used his tail to try and grab their bell.

"Boo."

As if on instinct, a powerful gust surrounded Toby to protect himself from the tail that touched him. Sand flew up due to the strong wind and obscured him from the vision of the attacker. He was far from pleased by this sudden attack, he could live with being caught off guard but this made his chance of catching his intended targets off guard null. The sand and howling of the wind would inform anyone of his location. Fine, if I can't get bells the easy way this will have to do. He shot sickle-like blasts at the wind wall, causing branches that were barely hanging on in the intense wind to get cut into pieces. If the attacker would dare to attack him, they would be in for a nasty surprise.

"Did you really think that you could get bells that easily? Scare people and run away with their bell? Sorry to pop your little bubble, but even the people with the most unimpressive powers fight back here. If you don't fight, you won't win. Come at me!" Toby's voice somehow was clearly heard despite the howling wind around him.

Andrew had been in a casual lax about things, before he felt this shiver travel up his spine. Andrew tried to shake his head, as he tilted over to see how Lily was doing....only for his eyes to widen as he saw something which struck him to his core.

Lily laid on the ground as her flesh seemed to dissolve in place, a look of shock and horror seemed to tell the entire story. Andrew on reflex stepped back at this, his jaw slightly agape.

W-what?

As Andrew glanced back to where Suzy had been hidden, it appeared her body began to dissolve as well. Her flesh and bone eaten away by that familiar dark entity. That cursed "gift" he had as he glanced at his glove covered hands and noted his death touch seemed to leak from them all the same which caused him to shake in place.

This can't be happening. This isn't happening. Come on, snap out of this. Your clothing shouldn't fail, it can't fail. I need to calm down, this....this is a trick, a dream. Something anything, it has to be!

Andrew went to work, as he had failed to come to terms that this nightmare scenario could be real. Either on the fact his clothing seemed undamaged, or his own denial about it. Either way he was stressed and needed to try and resolve this, so he bit his lip hard; enough to draw blood as he looked to suppress whatever force try to bring these nightmarish images to life. The pain seemed to send a jolt through his body, and the fear-based imagery he seen had been distorted. Though they had not vanished, and the sight had been enough to disturb Andrew....and put him on edge as he glanced all around the area to find the source.

"WHOEVER IS TRYING TO SCREW WITH ME, COME OUT BEFORE I DRAG YOU OUT! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Andrew cursed, as his body seemed to radiate a vile dark aura around him. Though it was more a show, he had already began preparations; a possibility that he never thought would happen may come to pass. The need to use that dark power.

Lily herself had been on red alert from Andrew's cry, something was wrong here; not only that but one of her little traps she laid out prior seemed to bare fruit. A tremor or two seemed to be sent to her from around their area; seeds she planted from her body into the ground around their hiding spot which carried over aforementioned tremors from people who stepped on the stops around where they had been planet. To a certain range, but one that signaled Lily that there had been intruders to her area. With a flick of her wrists, she began to rapidly grow the seed of the spot a certain nightmare projector and "fire lover" as vines sprouted from them and would emerge from underground; as they'd look to ensure the individuals who triggered them as Lily worked to try and entangle any of the various parities that tried to sneak by their area.

No matter what, we won't let anyone get to you Suzy. And if they want my bell, they'll have to pry it from cold dead hands!

Riley decided to switch her tactics. She kept her bell in a death grip at her side. Then she closed her eyes and breathed deeply. She may not be the strongets here, but that didnt mean she wasnt scared of her own powers. It didnt take her any time at all to bring her own nightmares to life. She wasnt exactly sure why she was so terrified of this happening. Maybe she was just scared of death. As she concentrated, trying to block out distractions around her, she could feel the ground begin to vibrate. She breathed deeply, trying not to panic. A loud CRACK filled the air as the ground below them began to split. She couldnt do much to move on account of that plant, but if she could destroy it, maybe it would buy her enough time to grab a bell and get out. Flames began to come up from the ground beneath them as the earth gave way. It could swallow anyone up if they werent careful. She didnt want to kill anyone, that certainly wasnt the point. But she wasnt going to fail either.

As Suzy was going back to the area where Lily, Andrew, and her body were at, she immediately felt an intense spiritual presence. The aura that surrounded the boulder Lily and Andrew made Suzy shiver, as if she were horrified. Suzy had no idea why she felt that way, so she decided to investigate.

As soon as Suzy made it to the area, Suzy was shocked to see Lily and Andrew fighting this girl, most likely a student participating. Though, Suzy was quick to figure out that the energy she had felt before came from the girl. Suzy could then hear the earth crack, and felt the energy from before but even more powerful. Suzy could then see flames erupt from the floor and the same sinister energy from before could be felt on those flames, except it seemed to be completely out of control. If no one was careful, they could might as well die. Suzy had to help Lily and Andrew out, as she felt that her own spiritual powers could help with this situation.

Suzy then returned to her body and quickly made her way towards the fight, though she made sure that she stayed hidden. Suzy then took a deep breathe and started to concentrate. Suddenly, a third eye appeared on her forehead and it started to glow. I hope this works.

Suddenly, everything around Suzy would invert colors, making everything around her black and white. Suzy herself was also in black and white, except for her third eye which was glowing green. Suzy would then try to concentrate Lily, Andrew, and Riley into her world. If Suzy were to successfully bring Riley into this dimension, the fire she created would not affect any of them.

Snapping her eyes open, Riley felt her powers mysteriously losing strength. The ground around them had huge cracks and some of the ground was still crumbling off, but for the most part the fire wasnt doing much at all. Fortunately, and a bit unfortunately, the ground had cracked by Riley’s feet, and although the plants that had snagged her fell into the broken ground, she almost went along with it. She scrambled back quickly, letting herself out into the open where the others could see her. “Uh...hey!” She smiled widely, holding her bell shyly. “So um...im Riley.. who are you guys?” She kept talking half because she was a bit nervous, but she was also buying herself time to find the person who had put a pause on her powers. She scanned the area quickly, feeling out the wavelengths of others around her. She suddenly picked up on a girl she had not accounted for. She had literally appeared out of nowhere it seemed. How is that possible? She cursed herself for not being more careful. She connected with the newcomer’s wavelengths just fine. Her fears and dreams came flashing to Rileys head quickly, making her a little nauseated, but she found she was having an extremely difficult time bringing the nightmares to life.

Soon enough, the flames came for Lily and Andrew as Andrew moved behind a rock while Lily prepared to generate some large roots from the ground to act as a shield. Though suddenly, the world began to distort around them into this....bizarre colors, and the flames that struck seemed to do no damage to either student or their shields which only confused them all the more. As Lily glanced over, she noticed Suzy who seemed to have taken a different color palate which seemed to only raise more questions.

S-suzy, did you do this?

Though before Suzy had a chance to lament on that, as a girl who introduced herself as Riley, caught their attention as she revealed herself and seemed to give a friendly greeting. Perhaps she had not expected Suzy to act, and now was trying to reason with them given she seemed outnumbered. Irregardless, right now Riley did not present herself as a threat which could allow her to focus on defensive measures against Roman.

"My name is Lily, these are my friends Suzy and A...." Lily started to say before Andrew took a step forward. Uncharacteristically, well compared to how Andrew acted for as long as she known her, seemed to present this chill over him as he stared at Riley with a glare as a dark aura seemed to manifest; though do to the distortions caused by Suzy they appeared more colorful than intended.

"Andrew. You....are you the one who screwed with my head?" Andrew asked, his tone seemed to be bitter as it appeared that nightmare she made him experience caused his usually overly lax nature to melt away.

As Diego moved through the forest of the island, he happened to stumble across a river. Granted, he would have preferred to meet a student to fight but hey beggars can't be choosers and he needed a drink. So he moved down by the river and began to scoop up some of the water in his hands to drink.

When he noticed a faint figure who seemed to be leaving it. Could it be another student? Diego had no way to be sure, but he decided that it was worth exploring as he tried to follow quietly. Granted, he was more of a "punch first ask questions later" type of guy, but he had no way to know if the girl was alone or with a group. So he would move and stop behind trees, trying to remain quiet as he hoped to close the distance and get a view of who this person was and whether she (He presumed it was a she as he moved closer) was alone or by herself.

.....once that was clear, then he'd shift into plan punch. The best kind of plan in his view.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Serenity had focused on finding shelter and making herself a base. A nice and more importantly empty cave seemed to be suitable enough for such a task. Based on her scouting, the river had been away but not too far away on foot and there seemed to be a fair number of berry bushes close by. So long as she made certain to avoid ones that were poisonous, she should have a fairly good stronghold to survive the elements.
But surviving had been but one aspect, she needed to find bells. And as she moved up a tree, she began to leap from tree top to tree top to go and scout out the competition.
~~~~~~~~~~
"So, um....what's the plan here? Go set up camp, or look for bells right away?" Ash asked Kendra, as she had been careful to keep an eye out on ground level for any immediate threats while she asked her airborne ally for her view on what they should do.

Riley’s attention snapped back to Andrew, who’s face seemed passive but his eyes told a completely different story. His tone was even more cold as he addressed the now flustered dreamcaster. “Uhh... well when you say “screwed with your head” do you mean potentially making you see one of your worst nightmares,” she snuck glances at his face but for the most part kept her gaze down. “Hmm...well yyeeess...that is, in fact, my power. I ha- well you see I wasnt really expecting for things to go the way they had and uh... Im very sorry for what i caused you to see.” She said the last part with an unwavering gaze at his face. She really meant it. To be honest, she thought this whole test was a bit insane, but she would never say that out loud. She knew what his nightmare had been. She had seen it herself. Even she was disturbed by it, and she barely knew them..

Diversions would have worked on most people, but having three levels of consciousness made a fairly big difference. If he was expecting it, Sky could react to quite a few more distractions than the average human, and by now he was expecting the kind of trickery from his two opponents. Shifting back into his natural form, the gust of wind danced its way through the hail of pellets and neatly slipped over the lip of the geyser.

Now out of any immediate danger, his incorporeal voice echoed from the faint shimmer in the air above Melusine's head, "Initiative! Good!" He congratulated them, then promptly slammed Liam into Melusine.

Echo nodded, not really feeling up to attempting to repeat anything her adversaries said. Instead, she attempted to use her newfound power to make the first move, forming the shadows into a long spear and sweeping it at around knee-height. At the same time, she called out to Celia, "Could you do something to stop them from jumping? It's hard to break their kneecaps if they can jump."

Liam was tired of getting thrown around. Because Skye threw him into Melusine so fast, he wasn't expecting it; therefore, he couldn't dodge it. He was starting to get really tired, three battles were taking their toll. They needed to end this soon and hopefully find some food. He didn't want to lose these points for Melusine though. She had just agreed to help him and he didn't want to ruin her chance. He rushed Skye and absorbed mud on his way there. He threw his entire body weight at him to try and grab him. If Skye were to slip out of his grasp, he'd use his slime body to reach farther.

Melusine

Truth be told, Melusine hadn't for a minute thought that her sneak attack would work on Sky. The whole thing had been a total ruse. Even her attack that relied on Liam's distractions had in itself been a distraction. From the moment she'd launched her attack she scrambled across the ground on all fours, heading straight for the nearest boundary in the wind-wall. Wrapping herself in the muddy water, Melusine rotated it about her body like a drill as she dived right for the boundary where the muddy ground met the air-wall. What she had aimed for was an escape, taking advantage of the moment where Sky -perhaps- wouldn't be reinforcing the air-wall around them. With the ground below her being rather supple mud rather than solid stone, she made rapid progress almost slipping entirely out of the bubble in an instant. In fact, it was the force of Liam slamming into her from behind that thrust her through the bubble and into the surrounding water.

As her body flailed, now restored to the river, her power surged back to her. Without hesitation, she called upon the river currents, thrusting them behind her and into the walls of the bubble dome. Her actions served a dual purpose as not only did it batter the air dome with water, but it also added thrust to Melusine and allowed her to push her acceleration to the limit. Within moments she was rocketing around the dome, leaving streaks of bubbles in her wake as she tore through the water at the speeds of a Sailfish -namely almost 70mph. She couldn't afford to go much faster simply because at that point she would have problems maneuvering effectively.

Although the girl was capable of a feat similar to Sky's multi-layered consciousness, she wasn't adept at it and thus couldn't process things as well as the air spirit could. She wouldn't be able to maintain top speed, observe Sky, manipulate the water, observe Liam, and keep her head in the battle all at the same time -it would quite quickly overwhelm her. Thus she chose a moderate speed and simply battered the air dome randomly with a chaotic unfocused application of her powers. Still, even in her haste, she ensured that the water she battered the bubble with came from as close to the river bed as possible, throwing all sorts of earthen debris towards the bubble.

Celia

Picking up on the telepathic communication, Celia responded, 'Got ya covered!' Rather that Celia, it was more accurate to say that her Swallows, Ning & Zen, had Echo covered. The pair of birds flew above the battlefield the feathers intentionally rattling against each other to get the attention of their opponents. The birds grazed the trees as they flew gouging scars in the bark and trimming the branches. They were trying to broadcast a message. The minute Kevin or any of his teammates took to the air they would share the fates of the surrounding trees.

"Kevin drop the lumber and hang on!" Aura called out, in a flash she expanded the ice around her feet to freeze the ground and immediate area around her minus where Kevin stood directly which would extend to where the shadow would strike. As Aura aimed to try and freeze the solid shadow in place, along with any possible attack from behind or to the sides. Not only that, but it seemed her right foot extended to the side as it made an ice path that extended a fair ways away from the battle.

Kevin had been confused, not that the ice extended around them minus where he stood given his own issues with the cold, but rather what "drop the lumber" meant. They had agreed to use certain "code phrases" for quick actions in situations like this, but they had no time to go over what to use before they were blasted off a cliff. But then Kevin saw a tree behind Echo and realized what Aura meant, as he blasted a wad of his acid spit to the base of the tree, with the aim naturally to try and melt it and cause it to fall towards Echo which would hopefully divert his attention to that and away from them.

Kevin followed up with the next part of Aura's call, as he grabbed her shoulders while she began to form some ice spikes on both hands. Aura hoped that a simple construct would allow her to skate the two across her ice path to try to get away from the student(s) so they could regroup under more favorable conditions.

Rebecca had intended to make her way to look for shelter, but something in the back of her mind told her she was being followed. She glanced behind her, though saw no one there. But plenty of trees one could hide themselves in.

Rebecca pretended not to consider that, as she turned to keep walking ahead. Though subtly she formed a fireball so that if anyone had followed her from behind they'd be unable to notice from viewing her back. Rebecca figured if someone tried to sneak up on her, then they'd get a little surprise for their consideration...

"Man, why are we making camp right away? We have some time and we could be going out to find bells?" Ryker asked, as the "action orianted sibling" questioned June's motives as the pair found a waterfall within the island and decided to set up camp behind it. Naturally, the fresh water was vital for a survival based exam. Not only that, but the waterfall offered a decent mask for their cave home which itself offered natural protection from the elements.

In other words, the perfect spot.

"Because making sure we have a place to sleep and setting up "base" should take top priority. This is a marathon, not a sprint." June reminded Ryker who let out a sigh, but none the less worked with her to bring some wood and other items both from their person and the environment to help set things up in there.

Ryker slumped against the cave wall, as June was adding some finishing touches to her bed. Her bed was nice and neat and there were obvious signs of hard work put into it. She was even now working on weaving grasses to make a proper blanket. Ryker's, on the other hand, was a literal mess of leaves. "June, seriously. We need to scan the area. Plus, what if we scavenged more than enough bells? Then we will have bells to spare and keep some hidden. We could split up, you hunting down those weak level bells, while I fight and get the bronze ones." Ryker suggested, standing up with a grin on his face.

June looked up at him and shook her head. "Ryker, just think. After what happened, that loss of control. What if it happens again? You could be a real threat!" This caused Ryker to shake his head. "Don't worry. I know how to control it. At least, let me, scout, around. I won't start any fights and you know my agility trumps yours." Ryker begged. June gave a sigh and Ryker smiled. "That counts as yes!" And with that, he ran out of the base and into the treeline surrounding it.

As Ryker ran, his mind was racing. There were some things he hadn't told June. His powers hadn't been working well. He could still absorb blows just fine and then project it through his attacks. But his more advanced aspects that came with the power seemed to be under some sort of mental block. his ability to create more of himself. The ability to manifest it and then fire it back in insane ways was just gone. And he could feel it in every aspect of his body. There were now two people within him, Ryker and the angry, power-hungry version.

Ryker was quick to run up a tree and made his way from branch to branch, working on a perimeter of the waterfall. However, just because he was examining the area around the waterfall, it didn't mean e was confined to that area and couldn't leave when he saw something cool. And he did, soon deviating a little from the path, golden flames emanating from some sort of source, coating a lot but burning a little. And the boy controlling it, Ramon. his caused Ryker to grin. He had found an opponent.

Ryker then charged towards the flame, with the expectation of no pain, since it wasn't harming the plants. But that was met with prejudice as he ran. His jeans caught fire, and Ryker didn't really like this. With a spring from his legs, he leaped up into the air, with a little help from his powers to increase the height, and aimed his body towards Ramon. "Hey, perv! Look out!" he yelled as he fell towards Ramon. His voice was loud enough so that the ones Ramon was watching would be able to hear. Ryker wouldn't have even shouted if he knew they were there, but t was done now.

As soon as Benjy made it to the island, he knew what he needed to do. He lifted his arm and reviewed the modulator for a moment. He switched through the controls on it softly, before deciding upon which of the five forms he would take. He would need to be fast and have a lot of maneuverability, which left him with one option, Dragonflight. With a faint blue flash, Benjy's blonde boy form, changed as he morphed into his green bug-like alien. There were compound wings jutting out from his back, and he looked like a dragonfly man.

The wings began to flap with a faint buzz and off Benjy was into the sky. His eyes scanned the area as he flew, looking at the various flights happening below him. However, he didn't stop at any of those. No point in getting involved in an already going fight. He would need to start his own. And then he saw the group of Kendra and Ash. He flew above them and spoke loudly. "Okay, game over. You can give me your bell or else I'll have to take it from you," he shouted, at his best attempt to be menacing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ray stepped silently through the foliage. His body was coated in shadows, and with any sound of a possible threat, he would slink into the shadows, submerging himself. If anyone would walk by while he was doing this, they would notice the overwhelming darkness in the area and sense something. They wouldn't be able to put their finger on it, but something dark was there. Watching them.

~~~~~Andrew & Lily~~~~~
Lily could sense the girl meant her apology, and in truth it was pointless to blame her for anything. She wanted to win and pass the exam like anyone else, so her doing what she could and using her power to try and get a bell is what you were supposed to do.
"I don't blame you for that, we get it. No reason to hold a grudge over it, right Andrew? Andrew?" Lily asked, as Andrew however still seemed to be shaking in place; his fists balled as more of that dark aura leaked from his body. Andrew had barley heard Riley's words or Lily's for that matter as that nightmare Riley made him see brought back bitter memories.
A-andrew....h-help....help me....
"SHUT UP! You have no idea what it means to see that! For you it was just some nightmare you never have to see again, a fleeting terror. For me it is what I have to live with, my curse. It's my life! You couldn't begin to imagine....!" Andrew yelled, but was cut off when some vines cut him off from any further advance towards Riley.
"Andrew, the last thing we need is a pointless fight. I don't know what your problem is, but we need to keep a cool head." Lily advised Andrew as she glanced over to Riley.
"Apologies. Maybe we can talk this out rather than come to blows?" Lily advised, as if she could escape this situation without a fight on her end and possibly more that had been all too desirable. Andrew kept his scowl, and his aura had yet to fade...
~~~~~Ash~~~~~
Ash saw someone in the air that Kendra launched an attack at, and quickly went to aid her friend as she extended her arms and fired a wave of her bad luck power as an unseen pulse towards Benjy.

She could not hurt him directly with her power, but she hoped it would caused the alien student to grow unlucky and perhaps collide with Kendra's Bolas. Ash already felt the hair stand on the back of her neck, but she had to put the fear aside and do what she could to help Kendra.

~~~~~Serenity~~~~~
Serenity continued to travel along the tree tops, trying to find any curious signs that might lead to other students. And up ahead, she seemed to find just that. As a certain area began to dark just before she entered its path, she stopped dead in its tracks and began to ponder what the next move was.
Serenity formed some crystals in her palm, as she decided she knew what it was. Given she could not trace a source that generated this shadow ahead & below her, nor could she see a visible source. She figured she could try to flush it out and fired half a dozen small crystal shards towards the shadow.
In the next moment, she jumped to the tree next to her and looked to hide among the leaves to see if she could remain out of sight while she scouted to see if that would be enough to draw whoever made the shadows out of hiding.
~~~~~Diego~~~~~
Diego flinched when the girl turned around, as he ducked behind a tree and had half wondered if she saw him. Fortunately, it appeared the girl missed him as she turned back around and continued forward.

Whether she was playing dumb or had been oblivious mattered not, as Diego saw opportunity. Quickly once her back had been turned to him he dashed out to the side as he coated his right arm in steel and took a swing right for a tree ahead of him but to the side of the girl.

Crack!

The base of the tree cracked clean through, as Diego caused the tree to wobble and began to topple over towards the girl. If Diego was lucky, the girl would be forced to dodge or even use her power to save herself from the tree which would leave her open for him to follow it up with a quick strike. Diego had the belief that he who makes the decisive first strike wins the day, and he hoped to apply that here and now in an effort to get his first bell.

Riley tensed when she saw the enraged boy advancing toward her. Immediately, as if it were a reflex, she tapped into his brain waves again, easier this time since she had done it a first. She was careful not to draw out any visions of his friend’s corpses unless need be, but before she could decide whether to take that step and make everything worse, the vines that had ensnared her just moments before overtook Andrew. Riley kept her posture tensed, but she immediately backed off, thankful for the intervention. As she stared at her tangled classmate, she felt shame rise in her. She may not be strong or have a lot of power, but she knew it could really mess with people’s heads, and it sucked to say the least. Riley looked away when he began shouting at her. She wasnt trying to ignore him, but inside she knew she just didnt want to feel any more guilt than she already had, so she tried to block him out. Unfortunately that just made her feel more guilty. Drawing her attention to Lily, who seemed to be a lot more forgiving of her intentions (although she hadnt experienced her worst nightmare... Riley wondered how she would be reacting if she drew hers out). “Im ok with talking things out, but im not so sure he is...” she glanced at Andrew again, his face still twisted with rage. She began to back up, contemplating whether she should run or not. She needed to make friends before she decided on fighting someone else, but her first impression with these people already seemed ruined... she sighed. “If you guys are ok with it, ill stay and talk. Whatever questions you have ill answer. I dont want to cause anymore trouble than ive already brought though.” She said this while glancing around them at the broken earth.
