Private/Closed FairyTail- The Newest Mages

'Up, down, lower! Lower.... Now right!'

Blurs of colors and objects swung through the air with a crisp 'Whoosh!' sound. The collage of furiously moving streaks of color swirled together in a canvas of bright highlights and deep contrast. A pure white series of dots flooded the area, wiping all the colors away with ease. The air became more compressed and hard to inhale...so cold...

"Verity! You're going to drown us!"

Suddenly the vision was cleared. A young woman stood in the center of a bright white ring made of soft, fluffy, but ice cold snow that was slowly dissolving into water and being absorbed into the hungry grass beneath it. Two figures stood opposite to the young woman, both with magic swirling around their fingertips- one had the blinding magic of sand twisting like a sandstorm in his palm while the other toyed with a small vine that wriggled around in his palm. Both men were shivering and their breath was visible in the cold, condensed air.

"So was that good?" The young woman, Verity, asked carefully, her voice shaking with effort. "Good? Hey Noc, whadda you think?" The man with the sand asked the other with a strong southern accent. "Haha, Verity, that was amazing! Holy cow! You dodged all the attacks effortlessly and then I nearly thought that we were right on top of Mt. Hakobe for a few moments there! Trace, there is no thinking in this situation, she did very well." Noc said gripping the vine in his hand as the plant ceased it's moving. Trace, the man with the sand, allowed his sandstorm to disperse into the air as he dropped his arm and let it hang loosely at his side. "I agree, well done. Although, your Blizzard attack was a little lacking. Part of the Blizzard attack is to be able to temporarily blind your opponent, and you didn't blind me as much as I suspect you could." Trace pointed out, but he paused as Verity dropped her head. "But it's improved a lot! You'll be surpassing Eve in no time!" He added, dismissing the young woman to go take a break, which she did happily.

Verity sighed. It had been an extremely long day, not to mention that the guild was crowded. It seemed as if there were new members every day, which was good she supposed, but at the same time she can't remember everyone's name and the family aspect of Fairy Tail is ruined by that simple fact. If she can't remember someone's name then they're not a friend- much less a family member. 'Eve....Trace once trained with him as I recall.' Verity thought to herself as she forced her weary hands to push the doors of the guild open. Eve, the Blue Pegasus member, was her idol and would always be an untouchable rival for Verity. After being rejected by Blue Pegasus two years ago, Verity hadn't decided if she counted anyone in Blue Pegasus as a rival or if she just simply counted them as another guild to stay away from. Eve- another Snow Magic user- ,however, was the one person that Verity wanted to defeat. She regarded him with respect and acknowledged his mastery of their shared magic in comparison to hers, but despite that Verity felt as if she should prove herself to be the superior Snow Magic Mage between the two.

Verity paused at the top of the stairs. She was almost to the S Class mission board, which definitely meant that she was not allowed up there. Somehow she had made her way all the way up the stairs and through the crowded guild hall without even realizing that she had taken a step from the guild enterance. "I need to be tested for short term memory loss." Verity grumbled to herself as she swiftly walked down the stairs. Across the room a good sum of wizards were crowded around the request board. Out of curiosity, Verity traveled over there herself. In the center of the board was a request written in sloppy handwriting, but it wasn't the letters she was trying to read, it was the numbers.

"60,000 jewel! Can you imagine how many days of vacation that would allow?", "60,000? We haven't seen that number up there for so many years!", "I wonder if the client is super rich!"

It was true! Verity's blue eyes fell across the same number that the whole entire guild was oozing about. Her eyes widened slightly, but she tore herself away from the mass of people, radiating a freezing cold aura as she left. 'Why have I been dumb enough not to make too many friends so far? Then I would have been on a team, and I might have been able to take that request....' She thought angrily as she stormed to a nearby table.

"Ugh! What have I done wrong with my little life?" Verity said aloud, quite loudly, and then threw her head onto her arms that were on the table and slumped down in her seat. More than likely she caused many stares, but she didn't care. Not one bit at that moment.

Vall looked up from his table. As per usual, he had gravitated to a corner, but even he couldn't fail to notice Verity's outburst. His instinct told him to stay put, but a kind nature (and Nut's pestering) cases him to approach her. Nobody took much notice of him, used to his constant movement, and he sat down next to Verity. He cleared his throat. "You okay?" He asked, practically in a whisper.

Gotta find a team, stat. This job is gonna get taken, and I kinda want the mo-

"Ugh! What have I done wrong with my little life?"

Cerise looked up from her slumped over position at the bar. She hadn't been drinking, no, she was simply a bit down. She looked around for the source of the noise, and found it in Verity. Slowly standing to her feet, she brushed off her outfit and made her way over - until someone else did the same. Cerise was decent at remembering some names, but then there were those that she couldn't remember to save her life. The girl, she knew, was Verity. She used Snow Magic, and was pretty good at it. Meanwhile, there was the boy who had just approached her. He always had two animals with him, a hawk and a squirrel, and she thought he had said his name before once or twice, but she couldn't recall what it was. She chose to avoid the boy while still approaching the girl to the best of her ability. She wandered over to her and stood next to her. "Say, uh, Verity. Is there something the matter? I heard your little... yell of frustration, and thought I would come and check up on you. Just in case you don't remember, I'm Cerise. Cerise Jamard." She said, adding the last part just to be safe.

Vall glanced up. He knew that most people ignored him, due to his usual silence. He grunted a greeting anyway. Talon shrieked into his ear, and he made a second attempt at conversation. "Word's there's a high paying job. Dunno though. Too many people, and I have no team." Vall said, clearly attempting to bait Verity.

Armatyle was one of the wizards around the quest board, his eyes flaring with need every time he saw the number on the board, "this is my opportunity!" He thought to himself, unknown to him, Escor was right behind him thinking the same thing.
They both heard Verity's outburst and went over, "hey what's the matter?" Armatyle asked as he stood next to Vall, Dr. Escor on the other hand took a seat next to them

Verity was vaugely surprised when she felt someone sit down next to her- after that unexpected outburst at least some people would care, but she wasn't sure if she was in the mood to express her concerns of never getting better than Eve. After all- it's a very petty reason to get any attention.

She looked up and sat up straight. "You ok?" The person next to her said- barely a whisper. It took her a moment, but Verity recognized the person as Vall. "Oh, hey Vall. Yeah I'm good- just trying to figure out why I'm still stuck here- unable to take on tough jobs." She said, a hint of a sigh in her voice. Verity eyed the Squirrel and the Hawk for a moment before giving them both a smile. She enjoyed animals.

Then there was the next person. 'Wow- I did not expect for people to actually come over here. Wow. Seriously- Im just being a petty brat who's jealous of other wizards.' Verity thought as a girl came over. She is awful with names, but for whatever reason Verity could remember that this person used Sea King Dragon slaying magic, and she was a huge threat to her enemies. Very powerful magic she possessed- that's for sure.

"Say, uh, Verity. Is there something the matter? I heard your little... yell of frustration, and thought I would come and check up on you. Just in case you don't remember, I'm Cerise. Cerise Jamard."

"Yeah I'm fine. Thanks Cerise. Wow, honestly I'm surprised that people actually care about how others are feeling in the guild. I'm just frustrated that I can't take on tougher jobs, but honestly I'm glad people still care about others- even when the guild is still growing." Verity commented, smiling a little bit to make her point. It's what Vall said next that really grabbed her attention though.

"Word's there's a high paying job. Dunno though. Too many people, and I have no team."

Verity narrowed her eyes, but in a non-angry or suspicious way. A ghost of a smile was hinted on her fact. 'Is he suggesting something?' She thought to herself. "You don't have a team Vall? Wow- considering your magic I'm surprised. I mean, honestly. All of the members here have magic definitely of worth on a team." Verity kind of lost her enthusiasm by the end of the sentence as she realized that in Fairy Tail, most mages had a team.

Finally, two other people came over. She recognized them- Escor was a celestial spirit mage, and Armatyle was a Purgetory Dragon Slayer. Verity recalled that both were near the request board when she was over there, but at the time, she really didn't bother to interact with them. Another question about what was wrong was asked, and Verity was trying to figure out whether she totally appriciated all the support from her guildmates or if she was getting slightly tired of answering the same question over and over again as she answered.

"Just frustrated that I don't have a team I guess."

Verity answered simply, and she realized that the explanation she just gave would have been easier to give at the start.

Vall moved away from Escor."From what I understand, it's high-paying. But this is coming from someone who can barely read, much less count that high. Anyway, word on the vine is that the group of us are loners. And as my wise cheftain once said 'Strong is the wolf with many friends'. You guys finally see what I mean?" Than, as an afterthought, he motioned at Talon. "He likes you Verity. And that's high praise from him. I think I could trust you. Strawberries anyone?" A strawberry bush had begun to creep up from the floorboards.

Armatyle didn't like being called a loner.... but was the truth, it still surprises him that a dragon slayer like him was still a loner but then again he was short tempered, everyone probably didn't want to be burnt to a crisp, "ill have some" he said when strawberries where offered.
"I'll have some too" Escor said, "after all Strawberries are good for your health" he added, letting a little of his Doctor side leak out, he was really interested in joining a team and was liking where Vall was going with this conversation

Cerise hesitantly grabbed a strawberry, not being particularly fond of them, but not wanting to disappoint someone by refusing a gift. Really, her intention was just to talk to Verity, not a group of others. They kept mentioning how nobody here had a team, particularly using the term 'loner'. Cerise wasn't a fan of being called a loner, and sought a solution. Fortunately enough for her, there was one - or several - right in front of her. Though she hated being a conversation starter, she loved problem-solving. "Um, if all of us here have no team... why don't we all make one? It's much better for us that way, and we'll be able to take up that job, right Verity, and - uh... I'm sorry, I can't remember who most of you are. I'm Cerise Jamard, if you didn't hear my previous introduction." She said with sincerity.

She knew Escor, or rather, she has heard of him. He was a celestial spirit wizard, much like another wizard in Fairy Tail, and one in Saber Tooth. She did not, however, recognize the others. The one with the animals had many plant-related abilities, and the other person who accompanied Escor was a Dragon Slayer, like herself, though which generation he belonged to wasn't something she knew.

Vall picked a strawberry, ate it, and sent Nut to throw it out. "I'd think that'd be the best idea, Cerise. We have a fine group of lone wolves, two dragon slayers, a key guy, a bilizard la dy and me." Vall's voice was louder, compared to the whisper he had before. "It looks like I've forgotten to introduce myself. My name's Vall. You might know me as the supplier for the kitchens produce." He said.

"From what I understand, it's high-paying. But this is coming from someone who can barely read, much less count that high. Anyway, word on the vine is that the group of us are loners. And as my wise cheftain once said 'Strong is the wolf with many friends'. You guys finally see what I mean?"

Maybe this was her chance? Verity sat in a very tense moment of suspense. She could form team. She can definetly depend on them and their skills, she hasn't seen them in action before but just from their magics they're more than dependable. She opened her mouth to say something, but Vall continued, and so she hesitated for a moment. The Druidic wizard was motioning at his Hawk, Talon if Verity recalled correctly.

"He likes you Verity. And that's high praise from him. I think I could trust you. Strawberries anyone?"

'High praise, huh?' Verity thought to herself, drawing her eyebrows up slightly to express her surprise. Her magic usually scares most animals into hiding short of specific rabbits and foxes, so getting praise from and animal....this was a good feeling. For whatever reason Verity found herself smiling at the prospect of an animal liking her. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted a strawberry bush popping up. Noc, one of the Wizards aiding her in training earlier, also had magic like Valls, but she recalled that he can only control their movement, and evidently Vall can do quite a bit more. Tentatively she grabbed a strawberry as well. Again, she was about to say that she'd love to form a team when Cerise began to speak again, saving the Snow Mage from a poorly thought out response to Vall's comments. Honestly, it would have sounded like a dying whale put together.

"Um, if all of us here have no team... why don't we all make one? It's much better for us that way, and we'll be able to take up that job, right Verity, and - uh... I'm sorry, I can't remember who most of you are. I'm Cerise Jamard, if you didn't hear my previous introduction."

She seemed sincere. That comment had come from Cerise, and it was almost exactly what Verity was going to say. The Snow Mage laughed for a split second and then nodded her head. "I totally agree! The reason why I'm laughing I'd because I was about to say virtually the same thing! I vote that the..." Verity paused to count the group of them. "Three...four....five of us should form a team."

"I'd think that'd be the best idea, Cerise. We have a fine group of lone wolves, two dragon slayers, a key guy, a blizzard lady and me." Vall had said, and to Verity it sounded like he had gotten louder. "It looks like I've forgotten to introduce myself. My name's Vall. You might know me as the supplier for the kitchens produce."

"Well everyone else is introducing themselves, why not me too?" Verity said aloud by accident. "I'm Verity- a Snow Mage, and the occasional reason why it's so cold in here." Verity tried to add humor to her introduction, but honestly, she's not that powerful. Not even close. She probably couldn't even make water into ice. Verity contemplated adding in her second magic, but she decided against it.

"Nice to meet you guys, I'm Armatyle HellScream, Purgatory dragon slayer, short tempered one.... still surprised that I haven't burned the place down..." the last part was said in a low voice and more to himself than anyone.
"And I'm Dr. Escor, medical doctor, psychologist, demon expert but most notably a celestial spirit mage" Escor said, in an extremely modest tone that is.

"Now, I'm no formal man. Could someone explain how forming a team works?" Vall asked. He waved at the bush, and it retreated into the ground. "Who here can read? I can't read the specifics of the job in question."

"An explanation for how team forming works? Don't mean to be rude, but do any of us really know, considering none of us actually have been on a team, presumably? I would assume you just go on a job together, but maybe there's more to it. I don't know, do any of you know?" Cerise asked Vall, the Druidic Mage.

After introductions were done, Cerise knew the names of everyone who was in their little 'group'. There was Verity, who she already knew to be a Snow Mage. Vall, who as mentioned before is a Druidic Mage, was also there. Then there were the final two: Dr. Escor, who Cerise already knew to be a Celestial Spirit Wizard, and Armatyle. He was a Dragon Slayer, a Purgatory Dragon Slayer to be precise. "I, for the third time, am Cerise Jamard. I use Sea King Dragon Slayer Magic, and I would be delighted... no, honored to form a team with you all." She said, taking a miniature bow.

Cerise actually felt like she could get along with these wizards. Verity was a nice girl, she knew that to be true already. Armatyle shared something in common with her, Vall seemed like a nice person in general, her soft spot for animals aside, and Dr. Escor... if she had anything in common with him, it had yet to be revealed, but he seemed like a decent person, and it would be worth a shot to be friends with anyone. Under any other circumstance, Cerise wouldn't have talked for more than a single sentence on a good day. She would've shied away from conversations, but here she was, talking it up with 4 other people. Speaking of, Cerise's attention shifted onto the specifications for the job. "I, uh, didn't exactly get to see much about the job, what with all of the others gathered around it. Anybody else? All I know is that there is a lot of money involved." She asked, shrugging and tilting her head while still maintaining a calm and polite aura about her.

Vall shrugged. "I can't read to well. Comes from being raised in the forest. I wouldn't know what it said if it was a bear jumping on me. Now, step one is reading the thing. Step zero and a half is figuring out how to be a team. Any objections?" Vall asked. He glanced at Talon, who in some magical way, understood some message and flew away.

"Wouldn't we need a team name?"

Verity offered her point, sitting back and observing her new to-be-partners. "Also, wouldn't we need to confirm said team name with Makarov and then go on a request together? Just a thought. I mean, there's Shadow Gear, Thunder God Tribe, Team Natsu... I'm just not sure if that's a thing we need to confirm. Do you want to approach Master or Mira about it?" She added the last part to add a bit of freedom to their choices.

There's no doubt that Verity would get along with these wizards- she knew it. Suddenly the point was brought up about the 60,000 jewel request.

"Oh! Yes! I happened to catch a small summary of what it's about. So I didn't catch it's location, but a small village somewhere near Crocus has citizens disappearing left and right, and most think it's due to a huge demon-like creature that lives in the nearby woods. The King sent out troops a while back, but the gang never returned. I believe the objective of that mission was to stand watch for a couple of nights to figure out what's going on- but I don't think it covers defeating the demon. 60,000 jewel is cheap to take down a monster." Verity said, remembering what she saw on the board only moments earlier.

((Ok- so I'm cool with us using Canon characters. Just please keep their appearances to a minimum. Feel free to reference them all you'd like though. My point here is, that if you want to include a canon character, please keep their personalities as close to their manga and anime personalities as possible. Thanks!))

"60,000 J. Huh. For taking down a demon? Must be a small one, I dunno. You'd expect a lot more for ridding a town of a demon that is causing disappearances." Cerise muttered to herself.

The point was brought up that a team name might need to be talked about with either Makarov or Mirajane. "I could talk to Mira about it... I mean, once we decide on a team name. I'm not huge on decision making for this kind of stuff, so by all means. Whaddya got?" She said playfully, one hand on her hip.

For whatever reason, she was a bit antsy. She wanted to see these guys in action. She had seen Verity fighting before, but nobody else. She wanted to test their skills, but simply challenging them would be rude, and provoking them isn't the wisest idea. Rumbles are a frequent occurance. I've just been fortunate enough not to get involved... but maybe we need one? Who am I kidding, that's a horrible idea. Cerise thought to herself, also while trying to come up with a team name for the 5 of them, herself included.

"Well recalling what I remember from what? 5 minutes ago? Escor said he knows a lot about Demons, am I right?" Armatyle asked.
"it depends on the demon, I'm not a walking demon encyclopedia ya know..." Escor replied, he has been thinking about a team name for a while now but hasn't decided on a final name.

"Sounds simple enough. Where are the masters?" Vall asked. "Actually, I could send Nut. Than we could go to my place for a spot of tea." He joked. He waved a hand. Talon had returned, with a rabbit in his claws. "Put that in the kitchen." He told him.

Vall's eagle friend had returned carrying a rabbit. While this was off-putting to Cerise, she refused to show it. She wasn't going to be rude to her teammates.

She had come up with several ideas for team names, but the second she tried to speak her mind, she forgot what they were, which made her a bit angry. She sat down across from Verity and tapped the table in frustration. This was unlike her, but for whatever reason, she was itching to test out what exactly these people could do. She just had to find the right situation, and so far, the demon one was the only situation she could think of. But that may be too long the wait. I want to test them as soon as possible... is that bad? She contemplated mentally. "Verity, Armatyle, Vall, Escor. Do any of you have ideas for the team name? Anyone?" She said, trying to sound as calm as possible.

Escor finally settled on a name for the team, "what about Team Penance?" He asked.
"Penance? Like in that star inside a circle?" Armatyle asked to make sure he heard him right, he was quite distracted by the two females in the group.
"Yes that.... Each of the five points of the Penance symbolises something, fire, water, air, earth and spirit, going in that same order and looking at the magics we possess we have Armatyle, Cerise, Verity, Vall and me" Escor replied.
Armatyle thought of it for a moment and liked the name, it was pretty smart and had an aspect of each one of them in it too

"Penance? Team Penance... that... sounds pretty neat. I like it. Any other opinions? Other options? If not, we're sticking with Team Penance." Cerise responded to Dr. Escor politely.

Cerise noted that Armatyle kept looking at her and Verity, but said nothing of it. She didn't want to come off as rude. Instead, she stood back up. "I can easily go find Mira, or we can send the eagle to tell Master Makarov. Really, it's up to you guys." She said, her shy and reclusive nature slowly coming back as she rubbed her shoulder timidly.

She felt around her left shoulder for her guild mark, and once she felt it, she stopped moving her hand. She always found comfort in this guild mark. She liked it a lot, how it's turquoise color shone in the water, and how it reminded her that she had a family, a large one at that. She looked at her shoulder momentarily before turning back to the group, her confidence restored. "Verity, seeing as though you are the reason we all gathered here, I feel like you should have the final say in things. How 'bout it?" She asked, holding one hand out to her in an attempt to get her back on her feet again.

"Penance? I like that name." Verity commented, turning her attention to Escor. "It really does symbolize us as a group." She added while scanning her eyes over the group members. "Team Penance...." Her voice lowered to a small whisper of excitement as she ran the name through her head multiple times.

Verity felt Armatyle's eyes on her for more than a moment, and then she also noticed him looking at Cerise, but she paid no mind to it. She was far too excited to bother if her hair looked messy or whatever. Verity brought her hands up and began to run her gloved, left fingers across her right shoulder, but tiny particles of Snow Magic was being released as she did so- so the activity left a thin trail of water where the snow had melted against her skin. The cold was jolting, awakening- it filled Verity with more excitement than she originally had. Cerise stood up as she added something.

"I can easily go find Mira, or we can send the eagle to tell Master Makarov. Really, it's up to you guys."

Verity watched Cerise as she talked, and it almost seemed like she was retreating back into a more timid version of herself. Not wanting to rub off as weird, Verity didn't mention that she noticed this change, but she was worried that maybe Cerise wasn't overly comfortable. Maybe that wasn't the case. Besides that, Verity stopped running her gloved fingers and listened to what Cerise had began to say again, her confidence seemed to have come back.

"Verity, seeing as though you are the reason we all gathered here, I feel like you should have the final say in things. How 'bout it?"

The other female in the group extended her hand out to Verity, causing a slight look of confusion from the Snow Mage. "I didn't intend to become team leader, if that's what you're implying, but I think we should go find Mira quickly and then take that request before it goes!" Verity confirmed as she reached for Cerise's hand. She stopped a few centimeters above her hand. "Ah, my hands are cold." Verity warned with a ghost of a smile dancing on her face as took Cerise's hand and she she stood up.

"Well then what are we waiting for? Let's comfirm our team and go!" Armatyle exclamed excited, breaking his eyes away from the girls
"Calm down will you? You are as jumpy as a person with scorpions in their pants!" Escor pointed out as he looked over at his new teammates
"How would you know how that looks like anyway?" Armatyle asked quite annoyed, he wasn't the most patient of people
"From experience, don't ask..." Escor said as he remembered some of his life before joining fairy tail.

(OOC- Gonna be bringing in a canon character here, as I feel we would have to. Sorry if that bugs anyone :/ )

Cerise held Verity's hand, and she was correct: it was in fact cold. Cerise paid no mind, as she loved to help people out. When she was reminded about having to go talk to Mira about the new team, Cerise felt herself slipping back into her reserved self. She put her hand on her guild mark and spoke, not as loud as she wanted, but not overly soft. "Uh, so, I-I'll go see about Mira, w-while you can grab that request..." She told her group, wanting to punch herself for stuttering.

She turned around to the bar, hoping to make Mira's conversation quick. Hopefully she isn't chatting with Cana already, she hoped as she walked closer. "M-Mira," she said, still stuttering, "I would like to register a new team."

Mirajane looked to Cerise with a smile. "Oh? And what would this team be called? Who is in it?" She said, her voice practically emanating a joyful and happy aura.

"Um, it's Verity Hale, Armatyle, Dr. Escor, Vall, and myself, Cerise Jamard. The team name is Team Penance." Cerise replied, less timid-sounding than before.

"Ah, I see. I can tell that this team will be a pretty strong one. I'll tell Master about it when I get the chance. Good luck on your first job, Cerise!" Mira said with a wave and a close-eyed smile while Cerise, filled with new confidence, made her way back to everyone.

"Mira said she'll talk to Master Makarov about it, but other than that, our team is basically official!" She told the rest of her team, a small smile of her face as she looked at her shoulder that she was still gripping. Slowly, she let go, and faced her group once more, the smile not leaving her face. "Now, who's gonna be team leader?" She asked, personally not wanting to step up and take the position.

(I'm quickly going to borrow Mira for this post. Is that alright?)

The figure wheezed as he pushed open the door. Sweat dropped down face and glistened like crystal. His purple eyes were clouded with exhaustion and he staggered to a halt. He'd been away 4 years and the guild had changed a lot. He winced at the pain lacing through the side of his body. He could make out blurs of movement and he felt like he was fast-forwarded in time. He collapsed to his knees and Mira gasped." It's Jasper! Come help." She ran to him and most of the guild members stood up. Then his eyes rolled inside his head and all he saw was Demonfire.

(It's fine :/)

Cerise was interrupted after hearing Mira freak out over someone, and turned to the source of the problem. There was a man on the ground, and he looked hurt - bad. "Guys, should we do something? Mira said to come help, and I-I don't know how to deal with these situations! He looks like he needs healing. Do any of you know how to do it?" She asked her team frantically, losing her composure slightly, but trying to keep hold of some of it.

She again grabbed her guild mark on her shoulder, and turned again to face the man on the ground. "Hey, hey, you, stay with us! Uh... someone who can heal! Wendy! Someone!" Cerise called out, hoping somebody with any sort of healing magic was within earshot of the event.

Cerise knelt down to the man, and listened to his breathing. Oh, good. He's still able to breathe. Hopefully someone can help, I don't know what to do. Who is this guy!? Is he part of Fairy Tail? Mira knows him but how? She thought to herself while making sure this guy stayed alive.

"I might be able to help." He said, pushing everyone out of his way. Vall crouched next to the guy. He shoved his had down the pocket of his shirt. A small bag of dirt was reaveled, which he dumped all over the floor. Waving his hands frantically, Vall had managed to grow a small kingsfoil, a potent medicinal leaf. Nut had brought hot water, and he mixed them, hoping that maybe it might work. He attempted to force it down Jasper's throat, hoping he would drink some.

Jasper swallowed a perculiar tasting liquid. He cursed as he coughed and looked around." Mi... Mira where's Master? I need to speak with him." He wheezed and slowly took to his feet, his eyes searching for Master. He looked at the boy and the girl infront if him." Guilds changed a lot huh?" He smiled and began to walk. His smile faltered when some smart guy shouted out his name." It's Jasper Heart, the fire devil slayer." He cursed and ignited his hand in golden yellow and red.

He looked around and huffed. He continued walking. He found a nice corner table and sat down." Their gone. My fault." He cursed the job and rested his head on a pillar, leaning back on his chair." Someone tell me when Master arrives." He ordered.

Cerise watched as this Jasper person set his own hand ablaze with golden and red flames. He had just fallen, knocked out, and he was already up and able to use magic. Vall really is something else, I'll give him that. She thought as she stared at Jasper. "Uh, Jasper, was it? What is this about them being gone, and who is... them?" She said, gripping her shoulder even tighter than before. "I-I'm Cerise Jamard, and I'm part of Team P-Penance... w-we can help, i-if needed. Right guys?"

She cursed under her breath at her stuttering. She hated doing that in front of new people, but she couldn't help it sometimes. Her reclusive nature was fragmented after joining Fairy Tail, but it still stayed deep within her, and chose to appear whenever it wanted to. Now was apparently one of those times. She gripped her guild mark tightly and took a few deep breaths before letting go. "So, a Devil Slayer. That means you're a force to be reckoned with, I can tell." She said, her stuttering fading and being replaced by confidence once more, thanks to her saving grace, her guild mark.

Jasper stared up at her. His eyes trailed to the request board and he cursed." That jobs S class. It's in the wrong place." He walked to the board and ripped off the 60,000 Jewel job, which caused many moans." The devil attacked me on the way back from another job. I spent the last 4 years tracking it but it's not a normal devil. Heck, not even a devil slayer could have defeated that." He spat and burnt the paper." Get master to put it in S class. NOW!" He yelled and a group of 3 scurried off." So then, Cerise." His purple eyes cut through her, almost like he was trying to see her brain." I lost 2 very talented kids that wanted to join Fairy Tail. I was even going to make a team with them." He looked down at the floor and sighed." Enough said I need to brighten this up." He made the flames glow stronger and increase." Where's Natsu when you need him." He sighed and looked at the crowd he gathered." I need a training partner." He announced and walked out of the guild hall, half limping as he went.

A training partner... this could be my chance! I want to see just how strong this guy is, and now I can!

"Hey, Jasper!" Cerise called out to the Devil Slayer. "If you need a training partner, I'll be happy to take Natsu's place!"

She stood confidently, receiving gasps and glares from around the guild hall. If I'm gonna take on high-paying missions, I gotta be strong, and what better way to find out if I am then by sparring?... Or maybe this was a mistake? She thought to herself, half regretting what she had just said. She turned back to face the rest of her team. "Wouldn't it be fun j-just to assess everyone's power b-before we go on a mission t-together?"

She punched her shoulder lightly in an effort to calm herself down as guild members started to swarm the area. She might have just caused, or at the very least, helped cause, a very large commotion. Cerise spun around on her heels to face Jasper, trying not to let her confidence fade any more.

Jasper grinned." I'll just leave you a little beaten. Natsu wasn't too mich of a thinker so he was easy. You though, you have brains and strength, you should be a good sparring partner." He walked a bit further from her and turned, the gentle breeze pushing his hair around. He looked down at his quilts mark on his left bicep and looked at Cerise." You take first move." He encased himself in golden flame, long hands of fire extended across the floor like roots.

He braced himself." Natsu hit hard but didn't hit much. Get your hits accurate and you should be able to over power anything. No matter how weak you are." The air around him sizzled and the ground beneath him charred and baked within 2 metres of him." Now then. Let's go."

Guild members looked at Jasper in awe. Apparently, Jasper had been gone for 4 years, and only just returned. Already, he had gotten himself into a fight, given a training one, but a fight nonetheless.

"Now then. Let's go."

Cerise nodded and smiled as she prepared one of her go to moves. She put her hands in front of her mouth like she was playing a trumped, and some crowd members knew what was about to happen. "Sea King Dragon Roar!" She yelled as she took a deep breath, and exhaled a spout of water from her mouth, aimed more or less at Jasper's chest. Her aim wasn't the best, but she hoped she would hit him and not somebody else.

Jasper cursed and looked at the ground." Fire devil Axe." He melted the rock beneath him into magma. He looked up and swore as the attack got closer." Fire devil shield." He lifted the magma and it solidifies as the water hit. A small crack appeared in the shield and he smirked." Fire devil justice." Flames swirled around his body and created a halo of fire. It shot into the sky, impossible to see. He came down with a thud and the ring made a dome of fire around the 2 combatants." Fire devil screech." He yelled as a triangular beam of fire shot at Cerise." Fire devil justice is so hot it cancels most water attacks. It may not work against sea King though."

He stood and wheezed as his magic slowly weakened. He still hasn't recovered and cursed his luck that he didn't have.

"Fire devil slayer huh?" Armatyle said as he watched the battle, he was really interested since it involved a powerful type of fire based magic, his eyes flared with joy at the thought of a friendly rivalry, "a worthy challenge maybe?" He asked himself.
"You two will end up burning the guild down" Escor muttered as he watched the battle...

After the sparring match had begun, Vall chose to stand away. Far away. He turned around, looking at the job requests board, looking for something of vague intrest for the team. "Defeat a..." He squinted, unable to read one of the words.

"Team Penance! The strongest of Fairy Tail's mages take to the arena! Against them- Sabertooth's strongest team- Sting! Rouge! Minerva! Rufus! Yukino!" The announcer cried as Verity looked out on the arena hosting the Grand Magic games. She felt her whole body temperature drop as she braced herself for the match- after all, she planned to release her strongest attack first. Subtly she moved her hands so that they were crossed against her chest and ready to attack as soon as the gong sounds. Of course that spell had given her the frostbite that ruined her hands so many years ago... But she had mastered it. Old Grandpa Ryle would be so proud...

The sounds of many frantic moving people snapped the Snow Mage out of her fantasy. Would that ever be something to happen to her? Would there one day be wizards who envy them for their overwhelming power? Thoughts like that were dispelled instantly as an unfamiliar member of fairy tail came into the guild hall and collapsed, causing Mira to call for help. Cerise and Vall both went over, as did Verity but she stayed in the background to avoid getting in the way. Her mind was swollen with too many thoughts, but in the end this new person had recovered and miraculously sparring with Cerise.

'Fire Devil Slayer... Against the Sea King Dragon Slayer...' Verity thought. Her face fell into a slight look of horror. 'These two are going to wreck the guild! The magic power sparking in the air is tremendous! How in Earthland is anyone supposed to house that much power?' Horror changed to awe as she watched the fire hold up against the water, and vice versa. A match of eternal enemies, water and fire. Watching them almost made Verity sick with Jealousy.

"Devil slayer... Dragon slayer... God slayer... Why don't I house that kind of power? Erza can wipe out guilds with her pinkie, Gray can freeze entire oceans, Lucy can summon an army of spirits at the same time, but honestly? How are the rest of us supposed go measure up against Slayers when our magic is a candle next to a bonfire?" Verity muttered, barely audible, and her inner thoughts arising to the top of her throat as she said them aloud. The young Mage frowned a bit, but then she jealously ebbed away. Watching the two slayers spar was an eye opening.

Verity noticed Vall at the request board, so she went over to join him. One, because she was melting in the heat thrown by the devil slayer and two, she was curious as to what Vall was looking at. He seemed to be reading a request, and he seemed to be having a bit of trouble with a word. "Which one are you reading?" Verity asked, stepping up next to him and scanning the board to try and help out.

A flaming beam shot towards Cerise at breakneck speeds. Having little time to react, Cerise braced herself for impact as the flames engulfed her. Normal Fire Magic wouldn't have been a problem, but she struggled to stay standing, falling to one knee in an effort not to go down. After the attack hit her, she prepared another. Water formed from nowhere, surrounding her hand. This guy's tough, but I'm just getting started! She thought as she aimed her arm out in front of her. "Sea King Dragon: Encircling Deluge!" She called out as a massive jet of pressurized water sprouted from her palm. Aiming wasn't needed, for if she hit, the wave would completely engulf him.

Her face shone with excitement, but turned to a bit of regret as she realized one key issue with this sparring match. Uh oh... we're still inside! And that attack isn't my strongest, but it's up there! We may have a problem...

Vall gestured towards the second one from the right. Than his instincts screamed, and he turned around, and saw a) a blast of pressurized water and b) it was inside. "Verity. I recommend you get down." He said. He followed his own orders and flung himself to the ground, a thicket of bushes growing around him.
