Private/Closed Into the Pokéverse

Bentley nodded and frisked around in his bag for a bit, before pulling out an empty Pokeball from it. "This might do the trick," he said as he slotted it into the indent. "Let's hope this works. If it doesn't we can try one with a Pokemon in it." He suggested.

Click. There was a sound, then the ground swung open underneath everyone, depositing them in a crumpled heap on a lower floor. Bentley's Pokéball dropped with them, bouncing and rolling to a stop nearby. "Ow," Aine winced, having jammed her wrist when she tried to catch herself on the ground. "Wait... where are we?"

This was a whole new area of the ruins. They had fallen into a large room with a high ceiling, and as the ceiling above swung back into place the room fell into darkness. Small candles flickered on either side of a corridor to their left, showing the way out. There was no way they had been burning for centuries. The stale scent of musty air wafted through the area, and they could very faintly hear voices coming from somewhere else.

Aine pressed a finger to her lips and tentatively crept down the lit passageway. As the group went further down, the voices started becoming clearer.

"Listen, I know we're only Omega grunts, but I joined Team Unknown for a reason and it wasn't to be a babysitter!" A female voice complained.

"Yeah, I can't believe Omega left us here with a couple of kids." There was a chorus of agreement. Sounds like there's a lot of people in there. "Not like it's an easy job either. That Tazzy's tried to escape like what, five times?"

"This week, yeah." As their eyes adjusted to the dim lighting, Aine noticed another passageway branching off to the side, parallel to where the voices were coming from. She turned to the others.

"Which way?" She whispered. On one hand, it might be better if they found the hostages first, to guarantee their safety. On the other, who knows where the branching path might lead...

He cringed at the sight of putting a pokeball in the Indent, whether it was empty or not.

"I'm hoping that works. I dont know about you, but I dont like the Idea of placing a live thing in there..." He shrugged, covering his eyes with his hand in case anything happened. It wasn't if anything happened to the Pokeball, it was more-or-less to protect his Eyes. The sunglasses may help, but even those have their limits.

Dracoss snuggled around the Neck of her trainer as the Door opened.

Following, Nito looked around.

"Freeing the Hostages could have them help us, but they might have more than just those two." He replied to Aine.

"I vote for Freeing them."

Bentley grabbed his Pokeball and put it back into his bag before following the rest of the group to the split corridors. After listening to what Aine had to say he had already made up his mind. "I vote save the hostages too, me and my team are ready." He whispered confidently, Duskull and Croagunk mimicing his serious expression.

Aine nodded in agreement, and the group proceeded to turn right onto the branching path. Keeping one hand on the wall, they slowly made their way forward in the dark, making sure not to trip on anything. Up ahead, there was a cell made of iron bars. On the opposing wall, a few bags have been carelessly slung into a pile.

There's whispering coming from the cell. As the group approaches everything goes silent. Then-

"Oi, assholes! Let us out of here or so help me my brother's gonna tear you a new one!" A pink-haired girl appeared at the bars and started yelling. Aine quickly rushed over and shushed her.

"We're here to get you guys out." Two young girls and a boy were huddled in the far corner of the cell. Tazzy (the pink-haired girl) does a double-take when she looks at Aine.

"Wait. Aine? Where've you been this past month?" She shook her head. "Never mind, let's get out of here first. Grab our bags and hand them to me." Aine does and she rummages around inside. "Good, good, they didn't find the secret pocket." She handed the kids their bags and they looked inside as well.

"We hid our Pokémon when we first got taken," Tazzy explained to Aine. She pulled out a Pokéball from her bag and sent out Mime Jr. The other kids send out Abra, Natu and Ralts. "All right. You three get out of here, I'll take care of this." The kids hug her and then used Teleport to return to Clove Town.

"All right, anyone have a way to get me out of here? Discreetly. Mimey here can't use Teleport, so..." Tazzy shrugged. "I kept escaping so they double checked the bars. A solid fighting or normal-type move like Slash should do the trick."

“Hold on, Croagunk’s part fighting, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a fighting type move.” Bentley quickly checks his Croagunk’s moves on his Pokédex, quickly confirming that he did indeed have one. “He has Brick Break, it might work. Alright Croagunk, use Brick Break, but try to soften the noise a bit.” Croagunk does just that, and uses Brick Break on the bars keeping Tazzy from escaping.

The Brick Break bends the bars enough that Tazzy can slip out of the cell. "Thanks," she says, patting Croagunk on the head. Mime Jr. also pats Croagunk. "Alright Mimey, let's go. We have some bad guys to beat up!"

They retraced their steps back to the main area. Stepping out, Tazzy put her hands on her hips, Mime Jr. mimicking her posture. "Attention! It's time for you jerks to get what you deserve!"

The grunts jumped up from where they were sitting. "Again?!" One said, sounding exasperated. Then he noticed the others. "Oh crap, we've got a problem!" The six of them got up and sent out their Poochyena.

"I'll take this one!" Tazzy pointed, sending Mime Jr. tottering their way. "Everyone should pair up and take one out!"

Looking around, he muttered to himself. He enjoyed dark spaces because of his eyes, but the errieness of a cave was always the same.

He heard the grunts sending out Poochyena's.

"Alright!" Nito yelled, his Snivy hopping off of his Neck, and in front of him. The closest thing to a attack She had that would do damage was Iron tail, so the two nodded to each other.

"Dracoss!" He yelled, as Dracoss bounced up, her tail glowing in a way to Harden, as she sent it down, aiming at at least one of the Dark Dog-like pokemon.

"Alright Duskull and Croagunk, it's your time to shine!" He said, the two Pokemon came out in front of him ready for battle. "Duskull, use Shadow Ball on the one to your left, and Croagunk you use Venoshock on the one dead ahead of us!" Bentley's Pokemon used their moves on their respective targets, hitting them with ease.

With Nathan joining the battle, he sent out Gible to fight.
"Alright, this is your first battle, so let's give it our best shot!" He pointed at the enemy Pokemon.
"Gible hit 'em with a Dragon Rage!" Gible opened its mouth, releasing a blast sending them flying.

"Nice shot buddy, that was awesome!!" Gible jumped around in happiness.

"Haha!Yes, a fight! Alright Riolu, let's go!"
Riolu nodded.
"Alright Riolu, cross chop!"
Riolu used cross chop on one of the Poochyena.
The poochyena whimpered and went flying into the wall!
"Yeah buddy,now use force palm!"
Riolu used force palm, and the Poochyena fainted.
Neon and his Pokemon team cheered.

Another Poochyena attacked Gible from behind but missed, and fell to the ground.
"Hahaha, nice try! Now Gible use Take Down!"
Gible spun in the air and put all its weight onto the Poochyena, crushing it and making it faint.
"Another Victory!"

"Alright Riolu, let's keep it up!"
Riolu nodded.
"Cross chop! Blaze kick! Vacume wave! Force Palm!"
Neon continued to yell out moves as Riolu moved through like a tank.
Then off to the side, Charmander was battling a Poochyena, and Neon helped.
"Charmander, try dragon breath!"
Charmander did so, and it damaged the Poochyena, but it didn't faint, Poochyena then used bite, then tackle and charmander went flying into the wall and was crushed under many rocks.
Then, a blue glow came from the rocks, and Charmander, now Charmeleon, shook them off, then roared.
"Woah! Nice! Alright Charmeleon, fire fang!"
Charmeleon did so, and the Poochyena fainted.
Then, Riolu and Charmeleon plowed through the Poochyena together.

Aine hesitated, fingers hovering over her Pokéballs. Her grass types didn't do too well in low sunlight, but she wanted to help...

While she was thinking, Oddish ran over and used Sleep Powder on the final Poochyena. Then it used Mega Drain, reducing the Poochyena's HP by about half. "Oddish, get back here!" Aine scolded, scooping him up. "Seriously, what am I going to do with you?" Sean's Joltz then finished the job.

The grunts looked around at each other, panicking. "Let's skedaddle!" one shouted, and they ran for the hills. Tazzy pumped her fist and Mime Jr. twirled around gleefully.

"Nice going," she told the trainers. "Let's follow them out." The group proceeded through the room and up a flight of stairs, discovering that a false wall had been pushed out as the grunts fled. They stepped out into the ruins and headed back to Clove Town.

"So. You're not the Aine I know, huh?" Aine looked at her in surprise.

"How did you know?" Tazzy grinned and shrugged.

"I mean, it was kind of a guess, but you still have Oddish. The Aine I know had Vileplume with her." As they walked into the Pokécenter, cheers erupted from the people inside. The three rescued children rushed up along with their friend and proceeded to jump on everyone and hug them. "Hey, so are any of you doing the gym challenge? I'd be fine to battle, it's the least I could do."

Bentley's eyes lit up at Tazzy's gym battle offer. "Actually, that's exactly why I came to this region!" He said excitedly, "If you're really fine for a battle, then we'd love one!" Duskull and Croagunk shared his enthusiasm, and looked eager for a proper battle.

Neon looked bewildered by the cheers.
He assumed people would be happy and thankful, but he didn't expect cheers.
He smiled.
He looked excited by the gym battle offer.
"Yeah, I'm in! I got a full team now too! I am SO ready for an actual battle!"
Neon's team shared his excitement.

"All right, we'll do a triple battle! Me against you three." Tazzy put her hands on her hips. "Let's go outside, alright?"

There was a cleared area behind the Pokécenter for battles. With an excited grin, Tazzy stepped out onto the turf. "As you probably know, I specialize in the Psychic type. Here are my partners and friends," she tossed two Pokéballs out. Wynaut and Chimecho popped out, and Mime Jr. jumped down from her shoulder. "I'll warn you," she said with gleaming eyes. "My brother's a member of the Elite Four, so I'm not going to go easy!"

“Croagunk, you’re extremely vulnerable to Psychic type attacks, so unfortunately you’ll have to sit out of this one.” Bentley said, he grunted in disappointment, but understood why. “Alright Duskull, you’re up!” Duskull drifted out from behind Bentley, ready for battle, and patiently waited for the others to pick their Pokémon.

Neon rolled on the balls of is feet.
“Ha ha!”
Neon casually threw a Pokeball, and Scizor popped out.
“Scizor, you’re the two perfect types for this match!”
Neon grinned.
“So I choose you!”
Scizor nodded in agreement, and readied it self, opening and close it’s pincers.

(The turn order based on base speed is this: Scizor, Chimecho, Mime Jr., Gible, Duskull, Wynaut.)

Aine watched the battle start with a smile on her face. It was always fun to watch junior trainers challenge gyms; it was one of the reasons she agreed to be the first gym leader, after all. Maybe once they met her alternate self they'd be able to get badges from her... or maybe she'd battle them herself before they left. Next to her, Shade, Sean and Nito seemed to be having a similarly good time. She hoped the journey to the Professor's lab was full of moments like this.

Neon smirked.
He put on the sunglasses that are usually on his forehead.
He pointed towards Tazzy.
“Alright! Remember, whoever loses, no hard feelings, mk?”
Neon seemed pumped and prepared to battle.
“Alright Scizor, let’s take care of Wynaut first! Use X-Scissor!”
Scizor nodded, then launched at Wynaut with incredible speed, far faster than the average Scizor.
Scizor jumped up, and it’s pincers glowed green, then he slashed them both in an “X” motion.
Both hit Wynaut and did incredible damage, due to the Bug type.
“Yeah! That’s it Scizor!”

Wynaut hung on by just a sliver of health, but it was close to being knocked out. "Chimecho, use Heal Pulse!" It healed Wynaut, who jumped up happily.

Then Tazzy nodded and yelled, "Mimey! Use Fling!" Mime Jr. flung its Bottle Cap at Duskull. Although it was super effective, the Bottle Cap wasn't really that powerful and thus only did a moderate amount of damage. Afterwards, Mime Jr. copied Tazzy's fist-pump.

Duskull did a few somersaults in the air after getting hit before regaining it's balance, a little dizzy however. "Duskull, shake it off and retaliate with Shadow Ball! We'll show them what we can do!" Bentley commanded, Duskull fired a high speed ball of purple energy at Mime. Jr, hopefully doing massive damage if it were to connect.

The Shadow Ball hit Mime Jr.'s side, doing a large chunk of damage. "Now, Wynaut! Counter!" Wynaut, having been hit previously by X-Scissor, retaliated against Scizor. It tackled the bug-type with a huge blow. It wasn't enough to knock it out, but Scizor was obviously injured. That was a pretty brutal attack for such a small Pokémon, Aine thought.

“Ah! Scizor!”
Scizor fell to the ground, then quickly got up.
“You okay?”
Scizor nodded.
“Okay then! New plan, take care of the healer! Scizor, you know what to do!”
Scizor nodded, then used an absolutely brutal X-Scissor on the Chimecho, doing MASSIVE damage.
“Yeah Scizor! That’s it!”

Chimecho fainted, and Tazzy called her back with a "good job!" Then she said, "Mimey, use Copycat!" Mime Jr. copied Scizor's X-Scissor attack, using it against Duskull. It looked more determined than ever after the defeat of its ally.

Aine watched with baited breath, as the next few attacks would probably decide the fate of the battle.

(Alright, sorry this took so long lol)

"Duskull, dodge the X-Scissor and use Shadow Ball on Mime. Jr again!" Bentley commanded, Duskull floated up high enough to a position where Mime. Jr's attack would miss, then flew in close and fired another powerful Shadow Ball at it.

Mime Jr. got blasted by the Shadow Ball and fell to the ground, knocked out. Tazzy winced and called her back. "That's enough, Mimey, you'd better rest." She clenched her fists and nodded. "It's up to you, Wynaut! Use Tickle!" Wynaut leapt toward Gible, tickling it to catch it off guard.

“Okay! Now we’re getting somewhere! Good job team! Alright Scizor, let’s do this! Swords dance!”
Scizor nodded.
Scizor called out, and glowing swords surround him, then disappear into energy that goes into Scizor.
Scizor roars out, then prepares an X-Scissor, already prepared for it’s next move.

While Shade and Sean had tagged along and helped the group, they had begun thinking. Shade needed supplies to see if she could bring them back home. Sean wanted to protect them. Knowing Shade was super strong and could pummel anyone with ease, Sean was alright with letting Shade go.

The researcher scooted herself over to Aine and talked with her about it. "I'm wondering... Since you guys know where you are going, I don't think you need me anymore. Plus, you are all getting stronger. I just feel like I'm not doing enough. I want to go out there on my own and get some supplies to help you get out of this realm or dimension. Maybe I can help you go back home. I don't know. Maybe that could work. It will take a long while for me to collect the items. And also, if you ever worry about me, don't worry. I can take care of myself. Hell, I got a Mega Pokemon, I should be fine."

"If that's what you think is best," Aine replied. "You can definitely handle yourself, but are you all right with leaving Sean with us?" It was obvious Shade cared about the young trainer, and Aine wasn't necessarily the best person to be given that responsibility. But since Shade was being so kind to them she thought it'd be rude to say no. "Do you want to meet at the Professor's lab, then?"

Shade nodded. "I will meet you guys at the professor's lab. Sean will be better off with you guys. I shall take my leave now." With that, she walked over to Sean and told him what was going on. Sean's face went from inquisitive to bummed out that Shade wasn't going to stay with the group. Shade pet Sean's head and he came in for a hug. They hugged each other for a bit and then Shade left. Sean walked over to Aine, a look of sadness on his features.

"I hope she'll be okay. It's dangerous out there. After not knowing what happened to my parents, Shade pretty much took over the role of being my guardian/mother. Anyway, I hope I'm not too much of a debbie-downer. It's a weird time to be alive right now."

"Alright Gible, let's finish this fight!" Gible nodded and was ready to attack.
"Now, use Dragon Rage!" Gible fired a powerful large ball of energy hitting Wynaut, doing some pretty big damage.
"Nice job, Gible!" Gible excitedly jumped around from its victory.

Wynaut was knocked out by the attack, and Tazzy recalled him with a cheerful "you did well!" After, she walked over and shook hands with all the trainers. "You guys did great!" she said. "No wonder Aine thinks so highly of you." She pulled out a case and handed over three pink diamond-shaped badges. "This is the Rune Badge."

Aine smiled at her and gave her a thumbs up. She fought well, especially for a three-on-one. "Let's head back to the Pokécenter to get healed up, then we can start heading north again." She gave each of the trainers high-fives as they passed and fell into step with Tazzy as they walked.

SUMMARY: Clove Town

The group discovered that the missing gym leader, Tazzy, had been taken along with her gym trainers to the Clove Ruins. Following the trail, they solved a puzzle allowing them access inside and rescued them. After battling a group of Team Unknown Omega-level grunts, three of the young trainers challenged Tazzy to a gym battle and won, receiving a badge.

"Alright, so we're off to Route 4. Thanks for everything," Aine said to Tazzy. The pink-haired girl grinned.

"It was fun battling with you guys, even if I did have to get kidnapped to do so. I promise it won't happen a second time; we'll be prepared for sure!" She waved as the group headed off to the north.

Route 4 was a short yet steep climb up a few craggy ledges, culminating in the entrance to the Cocoa Caverns. As they peered into the gaping maw of the caves, a few Zubat flew out over their heads, screeching noisily. The smell of damp and limestone was strong, and a cool chill was prominent in the air.

"Mind your step," Aine told everyone. "It's pretty dark in here, and there are tons of Geodude and sharp rocks just laying about. If anyone has Flash or a Pokémon that can give us some illumination, that' be useful. Rock Smash would also be pretty handy to have in case we need to get past some fallen rocks." She squinted at her map. "Around halfway through the caves we should see an opening to the outside. Vanilla Town is in the valley between mountains, so we can take a rest there and see if the gym leader is around."

Neon looked around the cavern.
"Huh, this place reminds of that one mountain in the Kanto region."
Riolu agreed.
"Pretty dark in here."
Neon got an idea.
"Hey Charmeleon, I got an idea."
Charmelon cocked it's head to the side.
"Use flamethrower."
Charmeleon did so.
"Alright, now die it down a bit."
Charmeleon died the fire down until it was still in the limits of about 2 inches in front of it's mouth.
"Perfect!"
Charmeleon smiled, happy to help.
"Great! Now we got light!"
Neon smiled and started walking, second in the lead, behind Aine.

He enjoyed the Dark. Not because he's some Edge-Lord, ready to Succ the souls out, but because his eyes preferred this.
"Kanto? nono. I'm sure this is Simmilar to Chargestone Cave, back in Unova. Watch, an army of Tynamo's is bound to appear, with the occasional Zubat." He said, knowing well that his Snivy rolled her eyes.
"Sni.." Dracoss sighed, moving from Nito's Shoulders, to the Backpack, where Bulbasaur was resting.

"Oh, it would be fun, they said. Leave Unova, find new Pokemon. I dont think they planned on me being sent to another Universe." He thought, taking time to take his sunglasses off. His Green eyes widening from the dim Light.
"So, Uh, do we have any plan outside of wandering aimlessly?"
