"Normal types huh." Robby said as he looked at Riolu, "This will be a breeze." Robby said to Riolu with determination.
"Bwa!" Riolu responded as he made a fist. "A Z-Crystal, that's what you put into the Z-Ring to use a Z-Move right?" Robby asked as he sat back and relaxed. "I wonder if we have to battle this Ilima dude before we get the Z-Crystal." Robby said, thinking out loud.

 

[Ombree]

She had reached it! She had reached the cave where the challenge was held with the shortcut the kahuna showed her. She saw that the Kahuna was already waiting for her and the others.

"Hanna, I see you used the shortcut" He said, "The first part of the island trial is a challenge against the totem Pokemon, Gumshoos"

Hanna looked inside the cave and thought she saw something moving, the cave was pretty dark so she lit a match and wandered inside.

"For the island challenge you face the totem Pokemon and then battle the trial captain, IIima" The Kahuna said.

"There it is the Route 2 Gate," Landon called as they approached a pathway, "We can get off here." The driver paid no attention to Landon's comment, the driver continued onward, "Where are we going?" Landon asked.

"Why to Verdant Cavern," the driver replied, "I don't do this to all Island Challenge Trainers, but you guys seem anxious to get there so I'll take you their."

"Wow thanks sir," Landon said as they continued going towards Verdant Cavern, Landon decided to lay back for a quick nap. When they reached Verdant Cavern Landon woke up, got off the carriage, thanked the driver and the three met the Trial Captian Ilima.

"Thanks Mr. Taxi Driver! That is very nice of you." Robby said as he and Riolu enjoyed a pokepuff. "Man, I hope this place isn't to far away, I wanna to battle that totem pokemon right away." Robby said with a determined fist. Robby then looked over at Landon, "How can you sleep on this thing? It is really bumpy." Robby asked Landon. "I can't remember the last time I slept." Robby said with a laugh.

"Dude you should know by now that I'm a heavy sleeper!" Landon said as they got off. Landon saw a man wearing a brown vest and had pink hair and a ring with a flower-like design with one petal colored white. "Hello are you the Trial Captain?" Landon asked as they walked up to the man.

"Yes my name is Ilima I run the Normal-Type Trial in Verdant Cavern, come on let's get started," Ilima said as he gestured everyone to follow him. When they arrived at the Trial Site Hala and Hana were in front of the Trial Site, "Well Hala looks like you made it on time!" Ilima said as they walked over, Hala nodded and the two got talking. "Alright," Ilima said addressing the four trainers, "This Trial will be done in teams of 2 trainers each, during the battle both trainers will be allowed to use 1 Pokemon each, those two trainers will be allowed to take on the Totem Pokemon inside first while the other two watch," Ilima explained, "Now who would like to go first?"

 

[Ry_Burst]

"Me and Munchy got this!" Ry exclaimed raising his had in the air, as if he was in school. "We are gonna get our first trial done easy peasy, and boom, Munchy is stronger!" Ry thought to himself happily.

 

[Ombree]

"I can go with Ry, if that's fine with him" Hanna said, she threw her pokeball and out came Steenee. "I'll use Steenee!"

"Sten Steenee!"

"Alright then everyone follow me," Ilima said as she gestured everyone to follow her into Verdant Cavern, "Here we are!" Ilima stopped in the middle of the cave. Landon looked around at the cave, grass and moss were almost all over the cave and dens where Pokemon lived, "Now begins the Trial of Captain Ilima! Totem Pokemon come forth!" Ilima called out, followed by a loud roar that ran through the cave. The Totem Pokemon stepped forward, the Pokemon looked like Yungoos but it's fur was darker, Landon turned to Rotom.

"Don't worry I've got this," Rotom said as he flew over, taking pictures of the Pokemon, "Gumshoos: The Stakeout Pokemon, Normal Type: When it finds a trace of its prey, it patiently stakes out the location... but it's always snoozing by nightfall."

"Let the Trial begin!" Ilima announced. Gumshoos began the battle by charging at Munchy and Steenee using Rock Smash.

 

[Ry_Burst]

"Use Ice Punch!" Ry shouted. Munchy rushed ahead with his fits raised to smash at the Gumshoos with his fist, surrounded in light blue energy. "We got this!" Ry roared.

 

[Rhabby]

"Alright, Landon we gotta watch out for any surprise attacks." Robby said as he looked around, ready for an attack. "We will win his riolu!" Robby exclaimed with a determined fist.
"Bwa!" Riolu said as it looked around for any attackers.

 

[Ombree]

"Steenee! Use Magical Leaf!" Hanna cried. A bunch of leaves went flying towards the Gumshoos, hitting it in the face.

Gumshoos was hit by both attacks hard and fell to the ground, "It can't be over already," Landon called. The Totem Pokemon got up and surrounded itself with an organ aura and roared, "GUMSHOOS!!" Two Yungoos came running in not to long after, "Ilima what's going on?" Landon asked in panic.

"Don't worry Landon, it's all part of the Trial, the Totem Pokemon calls other Pokemon to help it," Ilima said as he watched the battle, "This is what makes Trials so exciting," Ilima said as Gumshoos ordered the Yungoos to attack. One of the Yungoos leaped at Steenee using Tackle, the second Yungoos began charging at Munchy and Gumshoos shot a Mud Slap at both of them.

 

[Ry_Burst]

"Munchy Metronome!" Ry yelled. Munchy wagged his fingers back and forth. Then he opened his mouth and shout flames propelling his self over the attacks, by accident of course. "Use Tackle!" Ry shouted. Munchy spun around and did a cannonball on the Yungoos.

 

[Ombree]

"Now Steenee! Use Sleep Powder" Hanna shouted, green powder fell down on one of the Yungoos and it fell asleep straight away.

Munchy's Tackle hit Yungoos knocking it into the Mud Slap that was leaving the Pokemon unable to battle. The other Yungoos had fallen asleep, Gumshoos roared which woke it up with a startle. "Totem Pokemon are intense," Landon said as he marveled the battle and clenched and clenched Swift's Sportball in hand. Gumshoos and the both charged at Steenee and Yungoos using Tackle together.

Steenee was hit by one of the Yungoos and was sent flying back. Steenee still got back up. "Steenee! Leaf Storm!!!" She yelled. Steenee conjured a fierce leaf storm which attacked both Yungoos and Gumshoos. She looked over to Ry, his Munclax knew some powerful moves and could probably finish the Gumshoos, the Yungoos had fainted in the lead storm.

 

[Rhabby]

"Yeah, you're right. I can't wait for our battle with them." Robby said as watched the battle. "The stronger our opponent, the stronger we get." Robby said with a determined fist. Robby then saw the Leaf Storm. "Wow, she's pretty strong." Robby said as he watched Hanna and Steenee work as a team.

Gumshoos looked at the two Yungoos that had been knocked out in shock, "GUMSHOOS!" it roared, Gumshoos began sprinting at Munchy using Rock Smash. "If that Rock Smash hits it could be all over for Ry and Munchy," Landon commented as he watched Gumshoos closing in of Munchy.

Hanna watched the Gumshoos charge at Ry, she then looked at Steenee. Steenee was lying on the ground exhausted, she hadn't fainted but she was close to fainting. She hoped that Ry and his Munchlax could stop the Gumshoos.

 

[Ry_Burst]

"Munchy, let's go! Metronome!" Munchy wagged his finger back and forth. "Come on, come on," Ry thought to himself. Then Munchy stopped and his body became rigid. "Uh what's happening?" Ry asked. The Munchy opened his Mouth and used Sheer Cold! A wave of freezing cold snow and wind rushed at the Gumshoos.

 

[Ombree]

Hanns gasped as Munchy used Sheer Cold, knocking the Gumshoos out. All three Pokemon has fainted! Hanna rushed over to Steenee and picked her up. Steenee weakly smiled. "You did great Steenee, now get some rest" Hanna said, returning Steenee.

She walked over to Ry. "That was amazing!" She said, "You did great!"

The Sheer Cold hit Gumshoos had sending it flying into the wall of the cave leaving the Totem Pokemon collapsed to the ground unable to battle, Ilima rushed over and saw that the Totem Pokemon had been defeated, "Gumshoos is unable to battle, the winners are Munchlax and Steenee," Ilima declared, "Thus the winners are Hanna and Ry the challengers!" Ilima walked over the two trainers clapping, "Congratulations on defeating the Totem Pokemon" he said as he reached into his pocket and pulled out two pure white crystals with a small symbol inside, "Please take these as proof that you've defeated my Trial, Normalium Z" Ilima walked over to Landon and Robby, "Now are you two ready to take on the Totem Pokemon?"

"Yeah I'm ready to get my first Z-Crystal!" Landon said with fiery determination. Landon ran to where Ry and Hanna were standing ready to fight the Totem Pokemon, 'Swift and I can do this, there's no way we can lose' Landon thought to himself as he clutched Swift's Sportball, "You ready Robby!"

Hanna gasped as Ilima handed them the Normalium Z. "Thank you so much!" She said happily. She unzipped her backpack and brought out 3 Z-Rings.
"Professor Kukui told me to give you these" She said, handing one to each of them.

She put her Normalium Z in her ring and smiled. One down, 3 to go!
She brought out Steenee and Fomantis so they could watch the battle.

"Thanks Hanna," Landon said as he grabbed a Z-Ring and put it on his wrist, "Wow it's so cool." Landon turned and saw the Gumshoos walking away, "Hey wait what about me and Robby's Trial!" Landon called out as he watched Gumshoos and the Yungoos leave, Landon fell back in disappointment, "I wanted to have my Trial right away!" Landon continued to lye on the ground until he heard a noise coming from in the cave but it wasn't Gumshoos, Landon saw a Raticate leap up and land right in front of him, but it was a different color and it looked much chubbier. "Rotom, I need some help here!" Landon called, Rotom instantly flew over and began taking pictures of the Pokemon.

"Raticate: The Mouse Pokemon, Normal and Dark Type: Its disposition is far more violent than its looks would suggest. Don’t let your hand get too close to its face, as it could bite your hand clean off." Rotom said gesturing the Raticate's teeth.

"You see Verdant Cave is the only place with two Totem Pokemon!" Ilima commented from the distance, "Trainers take notes of Gumshoos and then are thrown off balance by Raticate!"

 

[Rhabby]

"Yeah a Z-Ring! I couldn't wait to get one!" Robby exclaimed as he quickly put it on. "Gumshoos come back!" Robby yelled as he disappointedly watched it walk away. Then he saw the Raticate appear. "Oh yeah a Raticate! Popplio I choose you!" Robby yelled as he threw up Popplio's ball.
"Bwark!" Popplio said as it posed and feel to the ground. "I hear Raticate in Alola are half dark type so, use disarming voice!" Robby yelled as he threw out his palm.
"Bwark!" Popplio yelled as it shot out a pink aura from it's mouth, heading straight toward Raticate.

Hanna smiled as the boys thanked her. She then watched the Raticate emerge from the cave, she had seen so many Rattata at the market. They were really annoying, she was surprised it lived in the same cave as the Gumshoos. Steenee was asleep on her lap and Fomantis was sitting next to her. This would be an exciting battle.

Landon watched as Popplio lead the attack, he was determined to win his first Trial no matter what, "Rotom, what'S Popplio's Pokedex entry?" Landon asked as he watched Popplio attack.

"This is not the time, but I guess I can help!" Rotom said as he took a quick picture of Popplio and changed it's screen to Popplio's data, "Popplio: The Sea Lion Pokemon, Water Type: This Pokémon can control water bubbles. It practices diligently so it can learn to make big bubbles." Rotom gestured Popplio's nose,.

"Wow that's fairy move super effective against Dark Types," Landon commented as he made a fist of determination, "Now Swift, use Quick Attack!" Swift began sprinting with Quick Attack towards the Totem Raticate. 'We can win this no doubt about it!'

 

[Ry_Burst]

The Raticate took the attack and stumbled back. It gave a screech and mulitiple other Rattatas apperered. The Raticate charged at Swift with a Bite attack, while multiple Rattata charged the Poplio with Quick attacks.

Hanna watched as the Raticate and rattata charged at Popplio and Swift.
She hoped that they would win their trial too, as soon as they all completed their trial, they could practise their z-move! Steenee soon woke up and looked around, she was confused. "We won the battle Steenee, we got the z-crystal!" Hanna said.

"Swift use Iron Tail!" Landon called out, Swift charged up and Iron Tail and swung it towards Raticate as strongly as it could countering the bite, 'I know it's tough Swift but you need to hang in there and we can win' Landon thought as Swift was struggling against Raticate.

 

[Ry_Burst]

The Iron tail smacked Raticate's head, making him lose his grip. Then it jumped into he air and charged with a Quick Attack, while squealing his unique battle cry.

 

[Ombree]

"You can do it Swift!" Hanna cried. She saw that Swift was struggling. Steenee and Fomantis were cheering from the sidelines just like her.

"Foman! Fomantis!"
"Nee Steenee!"

 

[Rhabby]

"Go Popplio use Bubblebeam!" Robby yelled with a smirk on his face. "This will be a piece of cake, right Landon?" Robby said as he raised his fist confidently. "Follow up that Bubblebeam with another disarming voice!" Robby exclaimed.
"Bwar!!" Popplio yelled as it shot a Bubblebeam followed by a disarming voice right at the Raticate.

"Yeah we got this in the bag," Landon said as he fist bumped Robby, he turned back and saw Raticate charging with Quick Attack, "USE SWIFT!" Landon cried as Swift shot stars along with Popplio's Bubble Beam and Disarming Voice at the Totem Pokemon. 'We can win this' Landon thought as he made a fist with determination.

 

[Rhabby]

"Popplio use a 360 Bubblebeam to take care of the Rattatas!" Robby yelled while making a fist.
"Bwark!" Popplio responded as it spun and used Bubblebeam, trying to hit all of the enemies at once. Robby then straighten his hat and yelled, "Let's finish this Landon!"

 

[Ombree]

Both of the Rattatas were down and only the Raticate remained. It only had a little bit of health left. It gathered all of its strength and then fired a hyper beam at Swift and Popplio. It then slumped to the ground, exhausted. If this didn't take them out he was done for.

 

[Rhabby]

"Popplio use Bubblebeam on the wall to propel yourself to avoid the Hyper Beam!" Robby yelled in a worried voice, the Hyper Beam was coming fast.
Popplio barked then shot a Bubblebeam on the nearest wall and was shot to the side, barely avoiding the Hyper Beam. "Phew that was close. Alright, let's finish this! Popplio use Disarming Voice once more!" Robby yelled as he threw out his palm.
"BWARK!" Popplio yelled as it shot out a powerful pink aura right at the Raticate.

"Swift dodge that Hyper Beam!" Landon cried as Swift leaped above the Hyper Beam but was, "Now use Quick Attack!" Landon cried, Swift dashed towards to Raticate with incredible speed along side Popplio's Disarming Voice going straight at Raticate. 'We can win this' Landon thought as the two closed in on Raticate.

Raticate weakly stood up only to be blasted into a wall by the Disarming voice and the quick attack. The Raticate had fainted.

Ilima walked over to Robby and Landon. "Congratulations" he said, "You've earned it"
He handed them each a Normalium Z

Hannah ran over to Robby and Landon. "You guys were great!" She exclaimed.

 

[Rhabby]

"Yes we did it! Good job everyone!" Robby exclaimed as he hugged Popplio and high fived Landon. Robby then took the Normalium Z and said, "Thank you very much Ilima! It was an honor to complete your trial, and it was also really fun!"
Robby then look at Hana, "Thanks, you guys were awesome too!" Robby said with a smile as he placed the Normalium into his Z-Ring.
