Open Leaving The Nest

There is a time in every creature's life, be they human or pokemon, when they must bid farewell to the comforts of home, and venture off into the world. Humans have it easy; they set off at age ten, and then they can make a living for themselves doing whatever they like. Their only worries are about the next battles, or showcases, or contests they face. They never have to worry where their next meal is coming from, or, in the cases of the bug types, and other small pokemon, whether they might become another creature's next meal. They never have to worry about clans, or family pride.

And most of all, they never have to worry about being captured. Being suddenly snatched away from their homes, and their friends, and forced to do the bidding of their captors.

Yuki had only been on the road for a few days, but already, she'd had some narrow escapes. After leaving her family in Eterna Forest, she'd narrowly avoided being killed by a hungry zangoose. The day after that, a trainer had spotted her, and thrown at least fifty pokeballs in her direction, one of which hit her. Escaping from that had been hard, since she had already taken a lot of damage from that trainer's purugly.

Why did she have to be born an eevee? Better yet, a female one, which meant that she was even more of a prize catch to trainers.

And tonight, she had no idea where she was going to sleep. Lake Acuity was her destination, where she would train until she evolved into glaceon. But she wouldn't go there today; she was already far too tired from walking.

She approached a group of pokemon, wondering where they planned to spend the night.

"Hi, my name's Yuki. I was wondering if you knew of somewhere safe to sleep?"

Upon hearing the Eevee's question, a pair of black and yellow ears would prick up. The Pokemon would be covered by the other random ones while it walked in her direction. Finally it would move past the rest, revealing the Pokemon to be an Umbreon. "Those who can't find a temporary shelter will huddle with the rest of us."

A bluish creature was hiding in the bush, as he tried to mask himself from the group of Pokémon while he was at Lake Acuity. He peeked out of the bush and briefly heard the Eevee that spoke out to the Pokémon. He hid in the bush soon after, while he lowered himself to conceal his fin, as he was afraid that everyone might try to hurt him. He scratched his orange fins in a slight motion, as he was very nervous.

He thought to himself as tears rushed down his face, "My god... I barely escaped that dreaded place, those giant people in their suits with their pink hair, they tried to spray this stuff on me! I just can't do anything anymore, I think that I might have to give up... there's just no point in going on anymore." He saw an Umbreon with the group, as he continued to stay hidden in the bush, while some cries could be heard from where he was. Tears rushed down his eyes like a waterfall, as he curled up while he continued to stay hidden in the bush.

"Do you hear that?" The Umbreon's ears pricked up again, as he sniffed the air. He'd follow the scent and the sound of tears to where the Pokemon was hiding, and push the foliage away with his forepaws. Seeing the Pokemon, he'd ask, "What are you doing back here? Why are you crying?"

Among the group of Pokemon, but haplessly shying towards the back, the metallic clatter of a fearfully shuddering Aron was surely audible to all nearby. The Aron, named Fletcher, just couldn't help himself. He had only arrived in the group that same day, after already taking a punch from a trainer's Hitmonchan while up in the mountains. Still, the little guy was sturdy, and even after rolling down the rocky slope and down into the valleys, he remained conscious, and thankfully, the trainer was none too inclined to climb down the hill after him. A few hours of a jaunt later, he had found the group of Pokemon, but he still had absolutely no idea how they felt about him.

He wasn't sure he wanted to know. Given their seemingly-incessant stares, his first guess would've been that they were none too fond of him. Fletcher had always been a softie, so he had been told. Even his own family of rough and tumblr Lairons was eager to send him off. He looked up at the newcomer Eevee. She didn't look too scary, but his shudders still refused to cease.

Yuki's long ears twitched as she went to follow the umbreon, paws sinking with a powdery crunch into the snow. It truly was incredible that anything could survive, or even thrive in this biting cold.

Her frame was rattled with the wind as she went. No matter, soon, she'd acheive her dream of evolving into a beautiful glaceon, and then, she would be able to handle the cold with ease.

Approaching the creature, she softly asked, "What's the matter?"

The little Pokémon continued to stay curled up, while he looked scared to death as he saw the Eevee and Umbreon next to him. He continued to cry, as he babbled to them while he studdered a lot in nervousness, "P- p- pl- please don't h- hu- hu- hurt m- me!"

He attempted to ignore the pain that went on his back, as he covered his eyes, while he thought to himself, "I got a feeling that they're gonna probably kill me like those people did... I don't even feel safe even at a lake, and I'm afraid of water! Oh if someone were to push me into this lake, I might probably cry for the rest of my life..." The fin on his head wiggled in a quick motion, which indicated that he was frightened. His tail fin also shook in fear, as he continued to cry in front of the Eevee and Umbreon.

Ruffles the Herdier came out of the bushes. He had a homemade pouch made out of leaves that contained berries and was hanging down from his mouth. "Hey Umbreon, I'm back with the ber-" Ruffles froze as he was caught off guard with the amount of strangers that were here. "Um...Umbreon...Are these guys with you?" He asked not sure if he was in a fight or flight situation. Ruffles then noticed the crying Pokemon that Umbreon was attending to. "Oh no, what happened? I know maybe you should take a berry, that might make you feel better," Ruffles said as he grabbed an Oran berry from his leaf pouch and carefully placed it next to upset Mudkip and took a couple steps back.

The Umbreon would nod at the Herdier. He'd then turn back to the Mudkip. "We won't hurt you. All the Pokemon around here? We work together. We survive together. Now, sit, get something to eat. You, too." He'd nod at the Eevee and Aaron.

Yuki stepped back in the snow, waiting expectantly for what the group had on the menu that night. Being raised in Eterna Forest, she'd grown up eating almost nothing but berries harvested by her leafeon mother. What exactly did the locals around here eat anyway? It was too cold for many berries to grow, except for aspear berries, and Yuki wasn't really sure about those...

Fletcher paled, stepping forwards towards the berries as per the Umbreon's request. The Aron species typically got their nutrients from traces of metal in the soil, or a hunk of iron if they were lucky. He'd always gotten the short end of the stick back home when it came to mealtimes, so he'd taken to chewing at clay. Still, he'd never detect the group's hospitality, so with a little bit of hesitance, he quickly reached out with his stubby arm and swiped a yellow berry his way, rolling it into his mouth hastily.

It was disgusting to the Aron, but he chewed it up and swallowed anyways. His body possibly wasn't meant to handle this sort of food, but at the very least, the tangy fruit restored a bit of energy to him.

(OOC: Sorry for the short responses. I was at school on my IPod for those, so I couldn't tell how many lines I was typing up. Back on my computer at the moment though, so I can type up longer responses.)

BIC: "Due to the cold weather, we don't have much, but we'll take what we can get," the Umbreon said, looking around at the other Pokemon. "I just realized, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Mirage," the Umbreon would say, then beckoning around the area, "and this is our 'paradise.' At least, the closest thing we can get to one in this Mew's forsaken snow."

The Mudkip smiled at the Herdier, as he slowly ate the oran berry while he felt parts of his wounds starting to heal, though this would require time to heal completely. He patted his back and tried to talk to the Herdier, though speaking wasn't the strongest of his areas. He hesitantly said to him as countless studders came from his mouth, "T- th- thank... y- you... uhh... what- is you- your n- name? I'm C- Cl- Clyde... I can't uhh, t- ta- talk much..."

Meanwhile, a Helioptile woke up from his nap, as his frills shook like chiming bells. They sparked quietly while they relaxed near his head, as they started to absorb some solar energy from the sun. He noticed a Mudkip with an Umbreon, Herdier, Eever, and an Aron.

The Aron got most of his attention, as he looked at him being disgusted from the berry he ate. He approached towards the group of Pokémon that were near the Mudkip, as he thought to himself, "Well, I suppose that I don't really have to eat much, if not then pretty much nothing. I suppose that I could watch them all while I take a relaxing sun bath... in the cold, snowy area."

Ruffles decided that's the rest of the Pokemon we're friendly as well and busy looking to survive as well as him and Mirage. Ruffles started to share around the berries he collected to all the newcomers. He then sat next to Clyde and started to much on a sitrus berry. "Hey Clyde, *munch* my names Ruffles. *munch* don't worry, you can stick with us, *munch* so don't worry," Ruffles said whilst he ate, his food was filled with food, when he spoke. His voice was slightly mumbled but was still understable. "How come you're in such bad shape then?" Ruffles was acting a bit casual about a severely injured fellow wild Pokemon, but that was the way he was. He doesn't take things to seriously unless it's an absaloute emergency.

Mirage would have laid down, munching on a berry, smaller and a bit more on the bad-tasting side than about any other berries. He knew the others needed it more than he did, and they would receive. As he saw Ruffles initiate a conversation with Clyde, he decided he might as well converse with one of the other newcomers. The Eevee was the nearest. "So, Eevee, what brings you out here?"

"I recently had to leave my clan in Eterna Forest," Yuki answered, "It's a rite of passage among us; once we come of age, we must decide what we want to evolve into, and leave the clan to find a way to evolve. Since I want to become a glaceon, I came to evolve out near Lake Acuity, where it's cold."

She sniffed at an aspear berry, and then took a bite. It was a little sour, but it would do as dinner for the night. "I'm Yuki, by the way. Since I can't go back to my clan until I've evolved, I guess I'll be hanging around with you lot for a bit."

Mirage would nod, understanding the Eevee, Yuki's, reasons. "Personally, I never went through any rites of passage. Then again, I never grew up with a clan of my own kind." Mirage would ponder the traditions of Yuki's clan, then a question would pop into his head. "What if a member of the clan doesn't want to evolve? What if they want to stay as an Eevee?"

"I've never seen any case of an eevee refusing to evolve," Yuki answered. Why would an eevee not want to evolve? Evolution always made you stronger, and better looking, right? Even the most indecisive members of the clan always made a choice in the end, despite knowing that once they had evolved, there was no going back.

"I think that our queen would get pretty mad," Yuki answered, despite not knowing the answer to that question.

Clyde knew that he couldn't be fully honest with the question that Ruffles asked him, as he tried to think of a quick way to buy himself some time to think, while he scratched on his gills softly. He shook his fin while he sweated a lot, as he hesitantly said to Ruffles, "U- uhh... w- well... I... I... umm..." He was too nervous to even talk to Ruffles, as he took in rather loud, deep breaths while he still tried to think of a lie to throw off Ruffles.

Meanwhile, the Helioptile went over to Clyde, while he went past the Umbreon and Eevee that conversed with each other. He sat down next to the nervous Mudkip, while he saw him sweating a lot, as he sat down while his frills soaked in the solar energy that radiated from the sun.

Mirage would shrug. "Alright, then. In my travels around the world, I've seen more than a few Pokemon who didn't want to evolve, simply because they preferred their current form. It was something they were familiar with, however, I can see why your Queen would want you all to grow stronger. Strengthen the members, strengthen the Clan, right?"

Mirage was very interesting for Fletcher, and as he stood among the rest of the group, he couldn't help but notice that his own fearful shaking had stopped as the Umbreon told his story. Feeling a brief moment of confidence, and sensing some degree of a gap in the conversation, he spoke up for the first time, directed more at the mild-mannered Clyde than the rest. "I'm Fletcher." He said softly, possibly only enough for the Mudkip to hear.

"That's about right," Yuki answered, "See, if any one of us gets spotted by a trainer, it's up to the rest of the clan to help stop them getting caught. More type variation in our clan means less chance of any of us getting captured by a trainer."

Yuki had never seen any member of her clan get caught, but she had heard tales about it from her mother. Long ago, when the clan was mostly made up of leafeons due to the environment, several members of the clan had wound up in pokeballs, to be forced to fight for their captors. So, the queen had devised a coming of age ritual; when the clan's eevees became old enough to fend for themselves, they had to leave the clan to evolve. After they had evolved, they could return to the clan, or choose to stay away and fend for themselves.

Mirage would nod, understanding Yuki's clan's situation. " What's life there like, growing up with others of your own kind?" The question was for Mirage's curiosity, nothing more. "Since I've no similar experience, I'm curious as to what life there is like. It has to be difficult, especially since some evolutions, such as your desired one, are so far away."

"Put simply, we just do everything together," Yuki answered, finishing the last bite of her aspear berry. "We pool our resources, we fight off trainers, and we obey our queen without question. We look after one another, and make up for each other's weaknesses."

Licking her lips, to get the last traces of berry juice off of them, Yuki continued, "I've had a hard time adjusting to being on my own. Since I'm not particularly strong, the queen told me that I should stay close to Eterna Forest, and become a leafeon, like her, but I really wanted to become an ice type, so, I defied her to become a glaceon."

Clyde looked over at the Aron, as he replied in a quiet tone, "Uhh... I'm C- Clyde... I c- can't ta- talk..." He scratched his gills in little motions, as his fin wiggled quickly. He looked over at the Helioptile that came over, as he curled up again.

The Helioptile giggled at Clyde, as he patted his back to try to make him calmer. He sat down next to him while his frills danced along the wind, as he said to him, "Hey, I think that I remember you from a few days ago... well, weren't you that Mudkip that-"

Clyde quickly went up him and interrupted him, as he said in a stern tone while he hesitantly prepared to use water gun, "D- don't say it... please... it'll m- make everyone l- la- laugh at m- me!"
The Helioptile chuckled and said to Clyde as his frills sparked quietly, "Okay, if it's that serious, then I guess I won't really tell then. I just think that it would be better for you to spill the beans rather than keep hiding it, because I'm pretty sure that they're going to find out eventually, so why not just say it right now?"

As the eevee was still telling her knowledge, A very small noibat that was sound asleep was about to crash into the ground. but the noibat quickly woke up and struggled to stop the fall. But sadly, The noibat crashed right into the a brick path. "ow!" The noibat yelled in pain when she broke a wing. She would try to fix her wing with a sturdy stick and a little bit of leftover string she found next to her. But her ears picked up a sound wave of shock.

She would turn her head to see a group of pokemon staring at her with shock. She ran to a bush next to the brick road and would hide from the strangers. But her sense of hearing heard a pokemon's foot steps coming closer to the bush.

Mirage was about to reply to Yuki, until he heard the Noibat's crash. He would turn to see her going behind the bush, and he would sigh. He'd stand up and slowly approach the bush and part the bush with his forepaws, giving the small bat Pokemon a friendly smile, to show he meant no harm. "You alright?" He'd ask, genuinely concerned. "Come on out, no one here will hurt you." He'd attempt to guide the Noibat to the others with his tail.

She looked at the umbreon with confusion, Thinking why he was smiling. Her eyes would become wide with happiness as she crawled out of the bush with a little smile on her face. "Hello?" she said still not sure what was going on. She would attempt to say more to the friendly umbreon but then saw the other pokemon walking closer with curiosity. She ran back into the bush. As she was scared, She would look at the umbreon another time with a confused face.

Yuki looked over at Mirage and the...Was that a noibat? Why was there a noibat near Lake Acuity? This noibat must've come a long way to be here, but why...?

Yuki kept her mouth shut, for the moment. She knew that noibats had very sensitive ears, and she didn't want to overload or distract her while Mirage was speaking to her.

Yuki's ears twitched. From behind her, a greninja had just popped out of a snow-covered bush, apparently unaware of its surroundings.

Yuki's paws sank into the snow with powdery crunches as she turned to face the stranger.

"How can you not know how you got here?" The eevee enquired, "You must've come a long way from Kalos to be here, in Sinnoh. Up near Snowpoint City, no less!"

"No wonder why it looks different."
'Greninja rubbed his head'
"I don't know why but I fought a Magmar and got burned."
'Greninja then ate an Oran Berry and healed himself'
"But, I'm better now."

A magmar? That too was rather strange to the eevee. She was up near Lake Acuity to become a glaceon, and the other pokemon whom she had met were simply passing through here, or so it seemed. What reason would there be for a Kalosian greninja, and a fire type magmar to be up here in the coldest part of Sinnoh?

"I'm Yuki, and these guys are Ruffles, Mirage, Fletcher and Clyde," she told him, gesturing to her new companions.

"brr...I..wish..I could evolve right now..so I could be warmer its so cold here. *Lena a minccino walks out of her bush and see's a greening and some other Pokémon that she had never seen before. *right then she turns around and see's a magmar that doesn't look to happy. "AHHHHH!" *screams Lena *the magmar uses flamethrower on minccino "AH STOP STOP OW AHH!" She screams

... Ahem.
CassThePokemon? Posts here should be third person, past tense, story format. What you're doing here is close, but not quite. Look at other people's posts that aren't one-liners. Do yours look like this? No? That means you're doing it wrong.

This is a recurring problem with you apparently, so I'm going to give you some time to straighten your posts out. Any more reports I receive about you will lead to an official warning.

The small Noibat began to speak a little more to the Umbreon "m-my name is.. Kelly.." she said very quietly. As she was slowly gaining trust to the Umbreon, She then noticed more pokemon, Such as a Greninja and a yellow fox like pokemon she has never seen before. She became scared again and struggled to fly to a other bush. She failed and ended up falling and got more hurt. She glared at the other pokemon with wide eyes and twitching ears picking up whispers. She got up and ran behind a tree that she slammed in to. The tree made snow come falling from the leaves and covered her in a snow bank.

Mirage would sigh, and walk over to the now snow-covered Noibat, and dig her out. "Calm down, no one here is going to hurt you. Even if one tried, I wouldn't let them. That's a promise." Mirage would have noticed the Greninja, and he'd be slightly worried about the Magmar he mentioned, but it wasn't anything he hasn't beat before. "Kelly, huh? That's a nice name. My name is Mirage." The smile on his face would never waver.

Yuki turned back to look at the magmar, who was was menacingly prowling around the group. Hmm...Maybe, she could defeat it! If Yuki fought that magmar and won all the way out in the freezing cold, she'd evolve into a glaceon!

As it came towards the group, Yuki attacked it with swift, blasting as many golden stars as she could muster up.
