Mega Stones are a new type of item for X and Y, and so far appear to be a type of Evolutionary Stone. There are many variants of Mega Stone, each corresponding to a certain species of Pokemon. While some can be found in and around the Kalos region, others are event only items. See our page on Mega Evolution for more details on how these stones work. Once you have beaten the game and upgraded your Mega Ring, some stones can be found between the hours of 8pm and 9pm in certain cities or on certain routes. Eeveenite will not happen. Mega Stones, from everything we've seen so far, are limited to fully evolved Pokémon. And after all, that only makes sense - the whole idea of Mega Evolutions is to take a creature beyond its ultimate form. Eevee is hardly ultimate. Ultimate overhyped bullshit, maybe.

Jury is still out on non-Kanto Starters and non-Garchomp Pseudos, though. Wouldn't hold out for Vileplume either, though.

Going to "Mega" from "Ultimate", you say? Hmm...

Well yes.
This was actually confirmed in one of the Nintendo Direct interviews - the whole idea of Mega Evolution is to have a Pokemon evolve 'beyond its ultimate form' by the power of 'its bond with its trainer' or something.

So yeah, the Mega Ring is essentially a Digivice.

If it helps, I can confirm that getting Charmander from Prof. Sycamore will also earn you a Charizardite X, and I assume the same is for Y.

I'm not sure about the other starters, but I'm assuming he gives their stones to you as well.

i know about how cool they are but think, aren't they just a little OP? mega charizard Y's drought and solarbeam combo just going too far. (i still love them though)

Just got mewtwo yesterday

you guys need to update this thing i have no idea where blaziken's mega stone in OR is
Most of the staff who work on the Cryptidex are in Europe, where ORAS aren't even out yet, never mind that this stuff takes ages to sort out and write up. Have some patience!
