“Damn it, I think I’m still hungover from last night.”
The tired voice came from Kotetsu as he tried to keep pace with his partner, Izumo. They both carried a stack of folders with them as they made their way to the village gates. Like a normal day, the duo would spend most of their time sitting in the booth by the entrance, checking all who entered or exited the village. Unfortunately, this meant they had to be up and out very early in the morning. A requirement that Kotetsu seemed to have forgotten last night.
“I was the one who warned you all not to drink too much sake, moron!”
The brown-haired shinobi raised his voice, seemingly annoyed at his friend’s complaints. Being the more responsible one of the duo, Izumo had been careful not to go too overboard with the drinksor ladies. They had been given this duty of guarding the front gate directly from the fifth Hokage herself. Though Kotetsu would say they were just her errand-boys now, Izumo believed this was the best job one could get as a shinobi and he wasn’t willing to lose it.
“But still, you could’ve taken them off my hands.”
A sigh escaped the lips of Izumo, somewhat unsure of what exactly his partner was referring too. If Kotetsu was referring to the pile in his hands, then he would have to wait just a bit longer as they were almost there. However, it appeared that they weren’t the first ones there.
“Hold up Kotetsu. Look.”
Izumo paused his footsteps as he made a gesture with his head, leading his partner to look forwards. Near the gates, there were a group of three kids fooling around with each other. Upon closer inspection, they were able to recognize them somewhat. They remembered two of them as the strange girls who had returned from a mission with Lady Hinagiku and Kakashi a few days ago. The boy, on the other hand, looked like the one who had come with a family the day before yesterday. With a rather lax tone, Kotetsu spoke up first and questioned their intent.
“Hey, it’s pretty early for you kids to be out here by the gates. Mind telling us where you’re going?”
With a rather lax tone, Kotetsu spoke up first and questioned their intent. Neither of them seemed to remember getting any notices of this group’s departure. After all, shinobi couldn’t just leave their village without any prior warning, unless they were ready to gain the title of a missing ninja. An exception being they were ninja from another village.
After the invasion of the Sound, it was even more imperative that continued to be aware of who entered or exited the village. Izumo hoped these teens weren’t the troublesome type and would be able to understand that much. In any case, should there be no issues, a simple explanation would be all that was necessary for them to be on their way.
