Honestly, the Yuki is mainly as powerful as they are so that the leaf doesn’t have 4 clans that are stronger than all the rest: Uchiha, uzumaki, hyuga, and Senju. And you making the hyuga even more powerful would defeat the purpose of it.
And they are more than suits of armor, I assure you. If you think you can brush them off as nothing, your wrong. Very wrong.
Konoha only had 2 of those listed clans. The Uzumaki and Senju are hardly a clan, since they haven't been developed in AU.
I consider all the noble clans to be on par, and imo the Aburame clan would outright massacre the Uchiha if they were developed.
I guess its because only the developed clans are really considered as noteworthy, so it appears as if Konoha had clans significantly more powerful than the other villages. That is however not the case. It only appears so because none of the other villages are being developed.
The Yuki clan should be a match for any of the noble clans in the ninja world, and conversely any of the clans should be a match for them. The Mist also has 4 Noble clans, and there are at least 2 or 3 from Iwa, I'll have to go over the other villages though.
The Uchiha clan in particular is hyped too much on their raw power, and that doesn't make them leagues better than every other clan. It checks clans that try to fight with raw power, such as the Inuzuka clan, but they would flop against the Hozuki or Aburame clans.
The Sharingan wouldn't check the Hozuki's genjutsu because it had a physical aspect to it which is the Mist released by their clams, and the sharingan can't see through physical obstructions. Even assuming it could, the Mist could be changed into a pheromone type genjutsu and the sharingan would still have 0 defenses. With Sharingan genjutsu rendered moot, the hydrofication jutsu rendering Taijutsu moot and hence the eye of insight, and water style checking fire style
on the most basic level of what the clans are known for, (not suited for an individual basis but a more general clan-to-clan basis) the Uchiha would have a
really bad time against the Hozuki clan.
If you bring up the MS or any named characters then you didn't read what I just said '-'.
Conversely the Byakugan checks the Hozuki clan since their genjutsu and taijutsu protection wouldn't be as effective. Does that mean the Hyuga are stronger than the Uchiha? Nope. They just match up better.
The Hozuki clan would also have a pretty bad time against the Yuki clan for obvious reasons, and the Aburame clan
may have an equally bad time against the Yuki because they're bad match ups.
When I said they were suits of armor I meant that had no identity beyond that.
