Never Give In

I said I would write a fic, and here it is. If you're going to say how bad my writing is, at least give me some reason why. No saying it just fails or stuff like that.

And with that way we go with my first fic, that I will try to finish, Never Give in.

Chapter 1

Prologue:

"Name?"

"Date of Birth, then?"

"May 13th."

"Family?"

"Two parents, only child."

"Trainer Type?"

"Coordinator."

"Achievements?"

"Grand Festival Champion."

A girl, no more than the age of twenty was hanging upside down by her feet. She answered willingly, no hint of distress or anxiety in her voice. She was being asked questions by an unknown person in the shadows. She was hung by her feet, blood rushing towards her head. The feeling in her head was awkward. It was a mix of emotions to say the very least.

The unknown person got up and walked towards her. She had no fight left in her. She let her captor come close to her. The person came up to her, tiled her chin upward towards their face and looked into her eyes deeply. She couldn't do anything to resist the person's gaze. She looked into the eyes unwillingly until she began to lose her breath and her vision became a blur. She closed her eyes half-heatedly, trying to get away from the gaze.

The person stepped back and muttered something aloud. He casually walked towards the exit of the small room. He turned off the lights in the room and stepped out the door. He pushed the steel door shut and hit a small switch to the left of the doorway. It released a thin, yellow gas into the room. She tried to hold her breath, but she had to give in and inhaled the yellow gas. The gas filled her lungs quickly and before she could utter another sound, or take another breath, she was out cold from the yellow knockout gas the person had put in. She lay their, motionless, almost in a death-like state. Her breathing was shallow, her heart beat slowed down. Everything about her pointed towards the direction that she was almost dead.

"Interesting. You, keep a watch on her. Make sure she doesn't fall off or anything. If she does, you're being held responsible. You go it?" bellowed a voice from the intercom. He had observed everything from a distant room and sounded amused at what had happened.

"Of course sire. I understand fully," replied the same person who had been in the room early. The person got up and walked around the hall before getting a chair and sat down to do some observations on the girl.

Diiiinnnnngggg…

Diiiinnnnngggg…

Diiiinnnnngggg…

"Come on. At this ungodly hour of all times. And just got to bed too," remarked a young girl. She was 5'8, and was about 18-19 years old based upon appearance alone. She had long hair that reached down to her hips, and the bangs were long enough to cover part of her face. She had a slim figure, yet a strong physique to go with her beauty. Everyone that saw here were often in awe with her beauty and physical ability.

She looked at the caller ID and recognized it quite quickly. She picked up the phone and answered in a harsh voice, "This had better be good. I just got to sleep. You do know what time it is right now?" She was not known to be stern or harsh, but she was when she was extremely agitated.

"Sorry to bother you, but this is an emergency. Please come down to facility as soon as you can. It's extremely urgent. It requires your immediate attention Miss," replied the caller, in a scared voice. Whoever the caller was obviously frightened by the girl.

"Very well then. It had better be good, since you are disturbing my beauty sleep," replied the girl, with an annoyed voice. "I'll be there at 09:00 hours then."

She put the phone down and proceeded to change from her silk nightgown into a pair of black athletic shorts and a blue long-sleeved shirt. She grabbed her fanny pack and her shoulder slung bag. She had all her tools and gadgets on her belt and before she left, she went out to her miniature lab and grabbed six objects on the desk before leaving. Six spherical objects of varying colour and minor shape differences. She left the lab and hopped on her motor bike and began to drive towards her destination.

Multiple thoughts swirled in her mind about why they called. She had just gotten back from one place, and by the urgency of her caller, it sounded like she was leaving again. She drove carefully and noticed that the place she lived in was a place of such peace and tranquility. She was blessed to live in such a place. However, she had envious thoughts daily now. With them driving her nuts now, she had no time for family and friends, like most normal people. Mostly, her best friend and sibling, both of which she hasn't heard from for a while now, were almost never seen. She had thoughts of suicide at points, but her close friends and family intervened and made her reconsider her choice. This was another one of those times. She was contemplating leaving them to have a more peaceful life, but they wouldn't have any of it. They kept her and she had no choice. Why they didn't let her do what she wanted boggled her mind, and had let her spirit drop. She was in no mood for fun and games from them. She almost despised them now.

She eventually got to her destination, right on time. She left her motor bike outside in the parking lot and walked towards the building. She took smooth, graceful steps towards the front door, and anticipated someone from the building would be there to greet her. They would go through what they do every time. Ask pointless, mind numbing questions and get the same result every time. Her answering one question and then refusing to answer anymore because she got annoyed at their protocol quite quickly would end it. She hoped that they would forego it this time, so she could get back home and go to sleep, blocking all outer world interference and go into the depths of her calm and tranquil mind.

"Hello, Miss. It is good to see you again," greeted the man that was sent out to see her this time.

She decided on a very forward approach today, to avoid the protocol. "This had better be good. I'm not going through what we usually do. Got it? Give me the reason why you called me and say it now, before I decide to leave," exclaimed the girl.

"Right away, Miss," responded the man. "If you would just follow me to the next room please, we can begin the discussion you want to get over with." The man began to walk towards the room, with her following right behind.

"At least this one has some sense in him. I'll try and convince them to get this guy to greet me all the time now," thought the young girl as she walked into the room. She closed the door behind her and took a seat on the chair.

"Miss," started the man, "There is a great situation on our hands now. We've lost contact with someone, and we need you to go find her."

"Any reason why you chose me, sir? There are others capable of this task here. If it's a simple rescue someone and get it done, I'm not your person. You know I'm one of the top agents here," remarked the girl.

"I know that, Miss. But there is a reason why I chose you over everyone else. The person in question is M.I.A. We haven't gotten a communication, message of any sort for a while a while now," replied the man.

"So the person is M.I.A.? We have other experienced people here too," justifying her answer with a list he had on the table with people's names.

"There's one little thing I haven't mentioned yet. The person M.I.A. is agent Neveu. Alyssa Neveu. I'm aware that the two of you share a close bond with each other," remarked then man.

"A…Alyssa….," stuttered the girl, who dropped her head and began to have tears from around her eyes.

"Yes. Do you wish to accept the mission Miss?" asked the man, who had gotten up to comfort the girl.

"Yes. Anything for her," replied the girl, who had regained her composure. "Do you know her location?"

"Yes, right around here in the Tanoby Ruins somewhere. I've narrowed her position down to the Viapois Chamber. She's somewhere there. Get her out of there Miss. That's your mission," said the man.

"Of course. I'll be on my way then," replied the girl calmly. She got up and began to walk towards the door.

"One thing before you go Miss. Please be careful. I'm concerned for you. When I first saw you, you're nothing like you are now. Take care. Your ride to the destination is on the roof. It leaves at 10:00 hours," said the man, with some concern in his voice.

"I will try sir. And please don't worry about me. It's none of your concerns about me changing. Don't pay any mind to it please," replied the girl.

With that, she left the room and made her way towards the roof. The plane would be there for her in thirty minutes. She found an office and entered it. She sat down and thought about what had just happened to her in the past twenty minutes. Her best friend was M.I.A. She was beginning to become very suicidal now and felt like she had a part of herself die when she heard her best friend was missing.

Her thoughts were jumbled inside her head, and she was about to give in. But the thought of her friend missing drove her. If she was to find her friend, she could die then and live. Just give in right there, and succumb to her dark and malice energy inside her heart. Very few understood her like Alyssa. She was one of the few that could quell her inner self.

She collected herself after a few moments and moved to the rooftop. A plane was standing by to take her to her destination. She hopped in and put on the headset and buckled in. She gave the command to the pilot who began the take off procedure.

Her head began spinning mid-flight, once they reached the Sevii Islands. They were over Five Island when the pain in her head began to increase. She had to endure the pain, to not draw any attention to herself. She couldn't give in now. Alyssa's life was dependant on her arrival. She couldn't give in until she was safe.

Alyssa's voice suddenly ran through her head, "Never give in. I won't, so you shouldn't either, even if it's tough right now. Push through and never give in." She was surprised that she could hear her voice now, but she remained calm and focused on her objective. Get her out and get her home. She wouldn't give in, even if it got her killed.

Neat-o Jet. It felt a little weird involving a Coordinator in a grizzled, gutsy detective story, but I do love the intrigue set forth. Keep it up :D

Hrm, this seems interesting enough, Plapti. I might just continue reading this.

...

If I find the time and energy to read the other chapters. XD

Wow, I forgot to comment on this when I first read it. First off, I'd like to say interesting start. Like RX said, it's different having a coordinator in this kind of role. I can't wait to see how her background affects how she battles and handles situations

Second off: You said you'd post a fic, but not THIS soon!

Either way, I can't wait to read more ^^

Like a couple of other members have picked up on, it's nice/interesting to have a coordinator in this sort of role. I'm liking your style of writing too, it's good for atmosphere and is very descriptive. I shall await more ^^

grr... I meant to comment last night after I had read it but I forgots! Like everyone else is saying, interesting start, should be a fun ride to see where you are going with this. ^_^

Second off: You said you'd post a fic, but not THIS soon!

I second that statement!

Repeating what everyone else said, the idea of a coordinator is cool, and very original. Why she is kidnapped whe she is a coordinator I cannot guess. But that'll be explained, right?

And taking a very wild guess, the rescuer is Sophie? *dies* Moar awesomeness please.

Maybe Chibi. Just maybe.

Details, like why Alyssa is a coordinator, will unfold later cause it'll be all explained in the fic.

Otherwise, thanks to all for the lovely comments.

Wow, Jet this is an amazing start. I agree with everyone else when they say that the Coordinator role is interesting, because it is. She has to rescue her best friend, that will be epic no doubt.

I can't wait to read more Jet, keep it up.

Thanks to everyone who read the first bit. Stumbled into a bit of a block on how to push the story forward. I somehow have an ending set, so bear with me. And onto Chapter 1 now.

Chapter 1:

"A dark energy flows through the blood of a young girl. She has a great prospect of being the next "Tango," a person of such caliber should easily let us take over the Agency. Her mind and body will submit to us and become ours. Her power will let us dominate the world. The question is how do we get her?" asked the ominous voice of a mysterious figure.

"Easy. We have her," replied another person, while pointing to a body hanging by its feet from the ceiling.

"True. She will make nice bait. Going after one of the most famous people from the Sevii Islands, the Contest Champion would easily draw their attention. She was a feisty one, though. How many of our grunts did she go through?"

"Too many. She's unnatural. That tranquilizer took forever to kick in. Even then, she was still dangerous in the drugged state. All those grunts she took out all either have broken or fractured limbs."

"Well, the grunts I really don't care about. All that matters right now is that we have her now, under our complete control. Just use her to go after our target, and then she can be our sub-commander, under our complete and total control," cackled the figure.

The two figures then broke into a mad and uncontrollable laugh that could be heard throughout the entire facility.

--------

"Move the captive to the other lab professor," shouted the voice over the intercom.

"Right away sire. Your wish is my will," replied the professor. He got up and went to go find his assistants after finishing his observations on a subject.

A girl in a sealed, white walled room began to slowly wake up. Her vision was blurred and her reflexes were still slow and sluggish. She was hanging by her feet and her hands tied behind her back. Her blood was rushing toward her head again. She once again felt dizzy and nauseous. Her limbs were stiff and her ankles and wrists were being chafed by the rope tied tightly to restrain her. Her thoughts were about one thing, her escape.

‘I have to escape. Otherwise, they'll be back. Or worse yet, she'll be coming. This isn't good. Bleh. Stupid goons with tranquilizer darts and clubs. Trying to hit me, a girl too. No sense of respect of etiquette. Oh, wait. They're goons. They have no sense of etiquette. Either way, stupid goons, stupid tranquilizer, stupid partner, and stupid agency, it's driving me nuts. Next time, I'm having someone reliable back me up. The idiot they paired me with just ran away at the sight of those goons. The Agency is going to hear about this one when I get back,' thought the girl to herself about the situation she was win.

Alyssa tried to undo the knotted rope tying her hands together. It was a tight knot, but she had to get it undone before someone came back to check on her status. Her hands worked with great prowess and dexterity. They moved in such a complex manner that her hands became a blur and the ropes were becoming undone. After a few moments, her hands were free.

‘First part done. Now, how do I go about untying my ankles from the rope?' the girl thought to herself.

She eyed a pipe on the ceiling and suddenly thought up a plan to escape. She began to swing and after a few minutes, she caught the pipe with her left hand. She grabbed a bobby pin out of her hair and threw it at the centre of the knot holding her onto the pipe. The pin was thrown with so much force that it opened a gap in the knot and allowed her to pull her feet and completely undo the knot. She let go of the pipe and landed on her feet gracefully, even though her feet were tied together. She undid the rope around her ankles and picked up her pin. She neatly fixed her hair and proceeded to open the door.

She stopped at the door and was wondering how to open it when she saw the silhouette of a trio of figures. She hid in the shadows and waited for them to open the door. She would surprise them and escape after she took out the grunts at the door.

"Hmmm. Wonder what boss wants with the girl?" asked a grunt.

"Search me. As long as we get paid, I really don't care," replied the other.

"Get to work you idiots!" shouted the third person of the trio. "Make sure you drug her, otherwise she'll beat the bloody pulp out of us."

"Yes sir," said the first man with a tone of voice signifying he really didn't care.

The two entered the room, realizing that their captive wasn't there. They both shouted, "WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU??"

"Behind you, you blithering idiots," replied the girl. She swiftly kicked one of the grunts in the head and sent him to the ground quickly. The other tried to tackle her to the ground, but she dodged it, albeit quite narrowly.

‘Damnit. My reflexes and movements are still slow. I won't last much longer unless I wrap this up now,' thought the girl.

The grunt kept lunging at her, and she kept dodging, though with each attack, she kept growing more and more sluggish. The grunt lunged one more time and managed to catch her ankle. She landed flat on her chest and mumbled ‘oof' when she hit the ground.

"Gotcha, you little brat. You'll pay for what you did to my friend over there," said the grunt.

‘Aw, damnit. I'm back to square one again,' thought Alyssa to herself. ‘I'm caught again. So much for my ingenious plan.'

"She'll pay. Soon enough. Hold her still while I drug her," said the third goon, holding out a needle.

Alyssa suddenly changed moods. She had a phobia of needles. Specifically, shots of any sort. They would make her go numb in fear. "Please. Please, anything else but that shot," pleaded Alyssa.

There was no answer, but her pleas went unanswered. She felt the needle go into her arm. She screamed. The serum of the tranquilizer began to flow into her bloodstream. Her vision was blurred again. She became helpless against them, due to her phobia of needles causing her a lack of confidence and her extremely slow movements because of the drug.

"Nighty night little girl," remarked the person with the needle.

"Bastard. I'll get yo-…," said Alyssa, before falling unconscious in the grunts arms, able to do nothing.

"Take her to the other lab. Then strap her down to the examination table and stay watch while I help our friend get up and over to the medical wing," ordered the man that once held the needle.

"Right away," replied the other man. He walked out the door with Alyssa and down the hall for what seemed forever to Alyssa, in her unconscious state. The grunt opened the door to the lab and put Alyssa down on the examination table. He pulled the straps over her ankles and wrists and secured them so she couldn't move and try to escape when she got up. He then strapped her down firmly with one across her hip, to make sure she couldn't get up and move around. He finished his job and grabbed a folding chair out. He took out a magazine and began to read it.

--------

The sky was bright as the pilot flew the jet plane onto the runway on Seven Island. It was beautiful day on the island, prefect for surfing or going to the beach. The pilot stepped out of the plane and gave his passenger a hand out of the cockpit.

"If you would ma'am, take my hand," offering the pilot to the passenger.

"Thank-you," replied the girl, as she climbed out of the plane, with the pilot's help. Once on the tarmac, she said," one thing Captain, don't call me ma'am. I'm far too young for that. You make me feel really, really, old."

"Of course ma'am. What should I call you then ma'am? Would Major work then ma'am?" asked the pilot.

She thought to herself, ‘Damnit. I hate people that go through formalities. Especially the senior officers. Better give him a lesson he won't forget.'

"Listen up Captain. Do not, and I mean do not call me ma'am or Major. It makes me sound and feel old. Find something else to call me. Especially if you value your life," said the girl with some emphasis on ‘the value your life part.'

"Ummm… is Miss or Agent okay ma'am?" asked the scared pilot.

"Damnit Captain!" shouted the enraged girl. She calmed herself down before speaking again. "Agent or Miss is acceptable."

"Very good then ma'- I mean, Miss," replied the officer.

"Good, you've learned quickly. Now then, to phase Bravo of this operation. I'll infiltrate the facility and recover our target. The base is about ten klicks southwest of here. I have four extraction points set, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie and Delta." She grabbed her map and showed the pilot where they were. "I will radio in the extraction point I want you to be at. I do want you to be ready at a moments notice and be less than half a klick away from extraction point Alpha," finished the girl.

"Understood Major…" the pilot paused and then quickly realized his mistake.

"Man, you officers don't learn these things for long. Anywho, formalities are a pain but, I am Major Sophia Fachion, commander of the Agency's Intelligence Office. I'll also let that one slide officer," said Sophia.

"My apologies Miss. I shall get supplies ready for tomorrow then," answered the pilot.

"Very well. We leave ate 0900 hours. Get any equipment you need. We move by transport copter tomorrow. Dismissed Captain," ordered Sophia.

"Yes Miss," said the Captain. He then left towards town to pick supplies up and get ready for tomorrow.

After watching the pilot disappear out of her eyesight, she took a deep breath and decided to head to the beach. She moved towards the Battle Tower. A beach was by the site for trainers and would be quite relaxing for her mind, body, and soul. She would need the rest. Her best friend was still in danger and needed her help desperately.

Sophia reached the beach after a moderate walk. She sat down to think about something inside her psyche. Something evil. The energy inside of herself. It fueled her desires of revenge. Her desire for destruction. Her inner dark malice. Split personalities. She would blank out at times but she would feel her body move and not under her own control. The energy was sadistic, malicious, dark, and cruel. The dark energy's ambition drove her body to insane powers and heights. Yet, it never happened for extended periods. She, Alyssa was always there to repel it back, suppress it somehow. No one knew about what was inside of her and how it affected her. No one but Alyssa and her brother.

The beach was tranquil and peaceful. The surrounding area was calm and perfect to just relax and let all of Sophia's worries and troubles be washed away by the tide. Her depressed mood was no help to her. She missed her life before. She missed moments of laziness, just having the time to sit back and do nothing but stare into the emptiness of the sky. The Agency had no thoughts of this though. All work and more work for her to do.

Suddenly, dark clouds rolled in while something tugged at her sleeve and grabbed her opposite side hand. Sophia turned around calmly and asked in an annoyed manner, "What do you want?"

As she turned around, an eerie wind began to blow and it got really dark, like it was about to have a huge storm come and tear the place apart. When she could see if someone was behind her, there was no one there. Whoever had grabbed her sleeve and hand earlier had vanished. As if they could turn into air. When she turned back to look on the horizon, she felt someone tugging on her again. When she turned around, she noticed that her shadow was unusually long for the conditions of the weather. Suddenly, she felt a surge of dark energy seep into her body, a dark aura formed around her at an astonishing pace. Sophia gasped in horror and thought to herself, ‘Not this again. Come on, fight it Sophia. Fight it.' Her shadow grew bigger and bigger until Sophia began to sink into her own shadow. She began to scream as the shadow began to engulf her entire body. As her shadow completely swallowed her under its dark aura, she uttered the name Alyssa before giving into its power and effect.

Out of the dark aura, a dark, malicious looking figure emerged out of the spot where Sophia was. It had features identical to Sophia. It was surrounded by a dark aura of pure hate and discontent. The figure spoke as if someone was listening, "Finally, I'm out. And that Alyssa girl brat isn't here to stop me. Sophia will not stop me, and I shall turn the world into my land. The land of shadows, Umbra."

She began to laugh in a mad manner and drew a sword out of the aura that surrounded her body. She walked towards the main city on Seven Island to start her ambition of a dark, shadow world to rule over as the queen. She had one thing to do before conquering the world and that was to kill Alyssa Neveu, the only person who could stop her rampage. She knew Sophia couldn't do anything to stop her, especially since she forcibly took over Sophia's body and is using it as a host for herself.

Wow, did not expect this turn of events! I am now very curious about how what we know from the PRP and what you are showing us here correlate and come together. Should be an interesting ride! ^^

I eagerly await the next chapter!

That was, like, totally awesome, Jet. I didn't expect Sophia would have a kind of dark side to her... though I wouldn't really count that as "her". I love the scene with Alyssa as well; a good fight scene. Though somewhat short. But it's nice anyways. ^^

Okay, so Sophia is now my favorite character, because she has a dark evil side that wants to kill her other half's best friend :D I can't wait for the other chapters now!

nice Jet =D
I find the story interesting. When I read the Prolouge, I though it was from Alyssa's point of view. =33

I'd say more, but that would lead to you hunting me down, riddling me with bullet holes until I looked like Swiss Cheese, then leaving me for wolves. seriously. >>

:D That's my first reaction: :D

[Okay, so Sophia is now my favorite character, because she has a dark evil side that wants to kill her other half's best friend I can't wait for the other chapters now!

That's my second reaction.

My thrid reaction is thus: MOAR!!! Moar please!!! This is my brain candy!!! (seriously) And Sophia has a dark side? Wtf? *was not expecting that*
