• A reminder: If you want to ask an RP thread creator if you can join their RP, do so in private - via conversation or profile messages - or via the thread's discussion thread, if one exists. Do NOT ask if you can join an RP on the RP thread itself! This leads to a lot of unnecessary OOC chatter and that's not what the RP boards are for.

This is clearly stated in our RP forum rules. If you've not read them yet, do so BEFORE posting anything in the RP forums. They may be found here (for Pokémon Role Play) or here (for General Role Play). Remember that the Global Rules of Pokécharms also apply in addition to these rule sets.
  • Welcome back to Pokécharms! We've recently launched a new site and upgraded forums, so there may be a few teething issues as everything settles in. Please see our Relaunch FAQs for more information.

Ask to Join Pokemon: Adventures in Potlea

Potlea, the only region with no pokemon of it’s own. Instead it is a melting pot of pokemon, cultures, and trainers from other regions, thank to the fact that it is connected to ever pokemon region in some way or another. Role play your journey, meet companions, and achieve whatever goal you want (doesn’t have to be pokemon master XD)

(Potlea is a region I created for one of my fan fictions, and I thought it would be cool to role play worth it though. Please don’t plagiarize my region name, okay? Good. HAVE FUN!)

(If your introducing your character, you could do a format like this if you wish... this will be my roleplay character)

Character: Imelda

Age: 13

Partner: Litwick

Characteristics: Quiet, anxious, and loving.

Details: Imelda was left in the Unova region by her parents at age 10, with out her consent. Before that, she was often pressured to join sports and battling tournaments, but Imelda either refused or was forced to join. She has been living in Unova for 3 years now, and has decided to come to Potlea. She hates being stereotyped as edgy because she is a ghost type trainer, though she does tend to be a bit more serious than most her age, which definitely has caused her some trouble making friends. She often pulls down her sleeves, wither when she is nervous, or when her arm starts showing. She loves her pokemon and doesn’t battle with them often. She dreams of becoming an author, despite her parents attempts veer her in a different direction.

Optional: (Trainer card and appearance attached)

(I’ll start)

Imelda looked over the border between Unova and Potlea, afraid and excited all at once. This one step would change her life. So, she looked straight at the view of the city in front of her, and crossed the border. She slowly made her way into the city, trying hard to keep her long sleeves pulled down as people brushed against her. All she knew about this place was that it was Tarc city, a place known for it’s fire type gym and killer soft pretzels. She decided to order a soft pretzel. She knew that this probably wasn’t the best thing to do with the little money she had managed to save up, but eventually let the hunger that had built up over the past few days to win against her judgement. So, she made her way to a street cart, and practically whispered her order.

“M-may I please have a s-soft pretzel?” Imelda shakily breathed after completing the sentence. The vendor gave Imelda her order in a matter of 30 seconds. She was almost immediately shoved by another costume who wanted to order something, even if it meant leaving her sprawled out on the ground. She stood up, cheeks red with embarrassment, and sat down on a staircase to eat. She scanned the crowd, searching for someone to ask for directions.

Character: Rudolf
Partner: Leavanny
Characteristics: Outgoing, bold, and arrogant

Details: Rudolf has lived in Potlea his entire life, but never stayed in one place for too long. Ever since he turned 10 he had been moving around the region just... exploring. Now 20 years old, Rudolf and his partner Leavanny have seen most of what Potlea have to offer, but still nothing appeals to him. The role of Champion or even just Gym leader seems like far too much work, same goes with being a Breeder. Teachers & Scientists have a much greater level of intellect than he'll ever have, and being what most of his friends now are; a delinquent, isn't all that well fitting either. So unable to find an ambition for himself, he searches for anyone in need and helps them; be it with conquering the local gym as a coach, helping them find an allusive Pokemon, or something as simple as giving directions to lost travelers.
(Trainer Card only attached)

With a pretzal in one hand and lemonade in the other, Rudolf scanned the bustling crowd of officer workers, pedestrians, and tourists as they passed him by. This was one of his favorite past times, that is, people watching. And while imagining the lives of all the faces that walk by him was one part of it, the best part was finding those who need help. And to his luck Rudolf spotted the face of an obviously scared, lost young girl sitting on some stairs just beside the road.

With his partner Leavanny by his side, Rudolf pushed his way through the stream of people and emerged on the other side in front of the girl. "I recognize that look anywhere! Where can I point you in the direction of?" He said with a wide smile, Leavanny mirroring him by his side.
Rudolf was tall, making Leavanny looking even shorter. He wore a long black jumper, with warm white wool lining the inside and hood, as well as numerous iron-on patches splayed all over it. His hair was a long, spiky dark brown, his eyes being a similar color. On his hip restedthe 3 Pokeballs, all marked with a different letter. They read: "L", "S", & "C"

Ahem.
Remember: Posts in the RP forum must be third person, past tense, story format. None of that present-tense nonsense, please. Make sure you read our rules before posting anything else.

Imelda stared up at the tall stranger, half grateful that he came, and half terrified. Still, she tried to piece together a sentence.

“Um, d-do you know where the p-pokemon center is?” Imelda stuttered as she spoke, though she tried to control it. However, it was just something she did when she was nervous. She gripped a pokeball tightly in her hand, so hard her knuckles turned white. She knew from experience to always be ready to attack and run, in case someone tried to abduct her. Though, she didn’t get the creepy stalker vibe from this guy, she wanted to be prepared.

“Indeed I do.” He grinned and nodded, Leavanny doing the same.
“Just down that street, then take a left, go on past three exits, take a short cut through the antique store there to enter onto the side of another road, follow along there and then do a u-turn to head back and to the left and you’ll be there.”
Leavanny acted out the directions beside him, twisting and turning their body and arms before stumbling in dizziness and leaning against Rudolf.
“Or if you don’t want to end up like my partner here I can just show you.”
He tucked his lemonade into his jacket pocket and extended a hand towards the girl.
“Rudolf. Your name is...”

“Imelda.” She said, taking Rudolf’s hand and pulling herself up. “And thanks.” She didn’t know why, but she felt like she could trust him. Wait, was she really being this vulnerable?Maybe she did want human interaction, despite her attempts to avoid it for years now. She doubted it, but decided it was not a good time to start contemplating life and whatever. So, she followed Rudolph, remembering to pay attention to where they were going, in case she ever need to get back.

Character: Aidan
Partner: Chikorita (Team: Venonat, Chikorita, Eevee)
Characteristics: Dreamy, introverted, intelligent, laidback, curious. He is tall -- almost awkwardly so -- with a lanky build and bright ginger hair with warm brown freckles.
Details: Aidan was born in a comfortable, four-family household with his sister Harper and his parents, Chase(M) and Devon(F). Ever since birth he has always been especially curious and prone to wander, but this sort of behavior was discouraged by his parents, and combined with that and the rural town he grew up in being monotone and dull. However, he grew up very close to his sister "Harpy", being only a few years younger than her -- and she often lead him on "escapes", where they would go over the next town and explore, finding interesting Pokemon and odd trainers. When he was ten, he got a Chikorita for his birthday, but decided to stay home because Libby was continuing her education as a writer, and he wanted to travel with her.
Once it became obvious he wouldn't fulfill his dream of traveling with his sister, he took Chikorita on an adventure. Shortly thereafter he caught Eevee, a sassy and argumentative Pokemon that made him realize a dream for collecting rare and interesting Pokemon. With that in mind he began a Pokemon Challenge in the Kanto region, breezing threw the rock-and-water type gyms with Chikorita before moving to Potlea to fulfill his dream of collecting rare and interesting Pokemon. (in a Safari Zone in Potlea, he caught a defiant, shiny Venonat he named Hinto fit it's blue eyes.)

Aidan walked threw the forest lightly but briskly. Out on a forest walk with his Chikorita, he was meant to be taking pictures of the beautiful Potlean terrain, for his Mother's picturebook. However, he was rushing towards where he heard (by word and mouth), the loveliest thing was to be found.

Who could blame him, really? He had seen a beautiful Heracross with the most engaging, metallic indigo pattern. Before he could even think to take a picture, the Heracross spread it's dazzling silver wings and droned along the grass, it's long, curious horn creating a wake for itself. Luck, though, seemed to be on his side today. He almost immediately spotted two spring-coated Sawsbuck, and immediately dropped into a well-meaning crouch - one that had been difficult to perfect with his tall, lanky build. The pair had the most intricate, beautiful pink horns.... but if he didn't get the picture, he supposed his mother would be disappointed. Very carefully, as not to surprise the two shy-hearted Pokemon, he got his camera -- a authentic one that had rounded edges and greying buttons from his constant use -- and took a picture. It wasn't fantastic, but he was satisfied. It seemed that he was lucky and would get to settle down in the Pokemon center today, instead of having to pitch his hammock outside.

Tomorrow, he would continue the blissfully easy mile to Tarc city, finally realizing his dream of the note and drawings of Pokemon that where odd-colored, weird, or simply extraordinary. The big city is going to be spectacular - imagine all the sorts of trainers, he thought, as he set out his blankets across the sofas in the Pokemon center. Last night, he had shared the last of his gumdrops with some of the younger trainers on the route (and told them all sorts of wondrous stories and legends from the Kanto region), and despite Eevee's pawing he could not produce any more. Eventually, however, the four of them turned to look at the wide, beautiful skylight, the stars glimmering like Heracross wings or silver Sawsbuck flowers on a big, beautiful canvas: one so large and ineffable you couldn't help but be awe-struck.

Imelda walked silently with her head down. She honestly didn’t know what to say. It had been so long that a human voluntarily was nice to her, let alone helped her out, that she was at a loss for words. Imelda tugged on her sleeve as they walked, trying to think of something to say.

Character: Alexei

Partners: Mudsdale, Espeon

Characteristics: Relaxed, caring, observant and tries to be fun. Has a jet black hair tied into a ponytail and wears eyeglasses.

Details: Alexei was born in the tropical region of Alola. He's 18 years old and lived with his sister, Emily, who was assisting in the research of Pokemon moves. Alexei started to work as a courier that delivers items through the different islands of the Alola region to help ease the workload of his sister. He likes to watch Pokemon battles and he also becomes very analytical about it, but when he tries to do battles, he becomes a klutz and becomes a bit scatterbrained. Out of the blue, he was tasked by someone through a letter to give the mysterious package to someone from Potlea, but the name seemed to be torn out. The only lead that he has is about a laboratory somewhere in that distant region. After talking to his sister about it, she encouraged Alexei to go to Potlea and find the person that he's supposed to deliver it to. He just wasn't about to let this job go unfinished, so he pumped himself up and went to Potlea region full of bravado with the title of courier attached to his name.

Tarc City, a bustling place full of people. Full. Of. People. Alexei wasn't used to the large amounts of people and buildings surrounding him. While roaming around the city and getting lost for a bit trying to find the Pokemon Center, he was slumped and deflated at the back of his Mudsdale and people were giving him weird looks. Alexei was wondering why people look at him weirdly. "Is it the fact that Mudsdale is a bit of a rare spectacle around these parts? Or is it the fact that I'm slouched at your back and looking a bit under the weather?" Alexei whispered to himself and his Mudsdale all the while hoping it would be the former. His exhaustion and the feeling of unfamiliarity caught up on him and he started to lose the bravado he had when departing from Alola.

After a few hours of Mudsdale galloping around the city, being lost and lots of whimpering from Alexei, they finally arrived in front of the Pokemon Center. Alexei suddenly felt active but his exhaustion was still visibly seen. He slowly dismounted himself off of his Mudsdale and started digging through the pouches that were mounted at the back of it. "We finally found the Pokemon Center, after all this time, it was just a few turns from where we were earlier..." Alexei said with a sigh and brushes the side of Mudsdale with his hand. "I know you're not used to walking around crowded places, thanks for the hard work bud, here's a treat." Alexei praised Mudsdale while giving him a small piece of Poni radish to snack on.

While Mudsdale was happily munching on his snack, Alexei stretched out his arms, moved himself around and began shuffling through the canvas sling bag slung on his shoulder and took out a pokeball. "Take a rest, Mudsdale, I'll have the nurse here take care of you." A beam of light then enveloped Mudsdale and it disappeared into the ball. Alexei puts the ball back in the bag, turns around and sees a person with a Leavanny with him and a white haired girl tugging her sleeve walking beside him about to enter the Pokemon Center. Alexei starts to do the Alolan way of saying hi and starts to wave with both of his hands to get their attention. "Alo- ahem" he cut himself off mid-wave, dropped both of his arms and just nods with a smile at their direction. Alexei found what he did a tad bit awkward, but continued his sentence. "Hey, uhh, you guys wouldn't happen to know if there's a laboratory in this large city?" He uttered while following them inside the Pokemon Center.

Sweet merciful fsck. What in all hell was that. Out comes a n00b that breaks every single rule in our book, and apparently drags the thread creator with it. Well. The n00b has been handled. As for you, Willow Whisp, you should brush up on our RP forum rules posthaste, because just because one n00b is breaking intolerably rulebreaky doesn't mean that you have the right to follow suit.

Cleaned up your mess. Don't do that again, please.

Personality‌:‌ ‌He‌ ‌is‌ ‌protective‌ ‌of‌ ‌Shade‌ ‌and‌ ‌will‌ ‌act‌ ‌like‌ ‌her‌ ‌brother‌ ‌and‌ ‌her‌ ‌father‌ ‌on‌ ‌occasion‌ ‌due‌ ‌to‌ ‌him‌ ‌being‌ ‌her‌ ‌parent's‌ ‌Pokémon‌ ‌for‌ ‌a‌ ‌time.‌ ‌He‌ ‌is‌ ‌sweet‌ ‌though‌ ‌and‌ ‌gives‌ ‌Shade‌ ‌affection‌ ‌and‌ ‌hugs‌ ‌and‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌there‌ ‌for‌ ‌her‌ ‌when‌ ‌she‌ ‌needs‌ ‌it.‌ ‌He‌ ‌is‌ ‌also‌ ‌her‌ ‌powerhouse.‌ ‌

Notes‌:‌ ‌He‌ ‌is‌ ‌older‌ ‌than‌ ‌Shade‌ ‌and‌ ‌is‌ ‌about‌ ‌as‌ ‌old‌ ‌as‌ ‌her‌ ‌parents. He specializes in toying with his opponents and using more special-based attacks with the odd use of some physical attacks. Once he Mega Evolves, he gets extremely brutal.

A young woman in a large, black trench coat could be seen with a very excited orange mouse Surfing about on the wind with her tail, completely in awe at the city around them. The squeaking from the Alolan Raichu caught Shade's attention as she saw a Mudsdale being returned, and three people. One had a Leavanny and was showing a girl to the center, and a man looking like he was far from home. Smiling, she decided to be nice and do the Alola wave. Even though she looked nothing like a native, it was something she felt like she should do to help him feel more at home.

Waving her arms and hands out in an Alolan greeting, she yelled out, "Alola!" She then looked over at the other two and waved at them with one hand like normal instead of the actual Alolan greeting. "Hello, you two. I'm assuming you are all new here or at least as new as can be. Well, if that's the case, hello and welcome to Tarc City of Potlea. I'm new here myself and my partners and I are here for some Pokemon research. How are you all? My name is Shadara, but you may call me Shade."

“H-hi.” Imelda answered timidly. “I am good. How a-are you?” Yeah, great first impression. Imelda pushed the negative thoughts from her head. She need to focus on the conversation. Imelda tugged at her sleeve again. Geez, I really need to get longer sleeves.

The Alolan Raichu, Chu, floated over to the shy girl and waved at her with a white paw before gazing at her with large, adorable blue orbs. Shade just chuckled a bit before shaking her head. "Chu, give her some space, will ya? She's already shy enough as it is."

Chu just rolled her eyes before floating back a bit, giving Imelda from space while still being near her. Shade just chuckled at her Pokemon's behavior before smiling at Imelda. "Well, what's your name? And no need to be so shy with me, I won't hurt you. Besides, if I did, I wouldn't be a researcher," chuckling a little, she smiled sweetly down at the young girl, hoping to have Imelda warm up to her.

Imelda smiled. “My name’s Imelda, and this is-” She stopped as she realized something. “Shoot, I forgot to let her out!” Imelda quickly took a pokeball and released a pokemon. “This is my partner Litwick.” Litwick sat on her shoulder and cheered excitedly. Imelda laughed, “As you can see, Litwick really likes meeting people.” She thought for a moment. “You are a researcher?”

Shade just snickered a little as she studied the girl's behavior. At least she wasn't terrified of her anymore. Her Alolan Raichu surfed over to the Litwick and waved a little paw at her, as she greeted her in her own squeaky way. Shade smiled warmly before responding to Imelda.

"Nice to meet you, Imelda. And I see that. What an adorable, little Litwick you have. And yes, I am a researcher. I have researched many things regarding about Pokemon, and I'm pretty close to becoming a Professor. I just need to do some college studies at a university for a few more years to qualify, but I decided to come here to see if my experiences here will help me in my education," Shade then realized there might have been a reason as to why Imelda asked, so she continued with a curious look in her eye. "And why did you ask if I was one? And what would you like to be?"

“I-I was just curious. I have always been interested in the different careers one could have.” Imelda paused for a moment to make sure Litwick wasn’t falling off of her. Then, she continued. “I want to be an author.” Imelda thought for a moment. “I have always liked the idea of conveying ideas for others to enjoy.” Yeah, that was a really weird way to put it. Imelda shook her head to push the thought away. “I see your Riachu is Alolan. Are you from Alola?”

Shade smiled and thought on the words Imelda said before responding. "An author, right? My sister is working on a kid's book. The age range is from five to ten, but she hasn't made the book, yet. She's a little stuck, but she'll figure it out."

She chuckled before continuing. "My Raichu was descended from an Alolan Raichu. Pichus born from a female Alolan Raichu always become Alolan Raichus, regardless of whether the male is a regular Raichu or another Pokemon. But I am not from Alola. I have been to Alola though. I was born in Oblivia while my parents were traveling, but my mother is from Kanto and my father from Unova, and our ranch currently resides a little north of Mt. Moon, Kanto," she then decided to explain a bit about her family's culture before moving to a different subject. "My family has this culture where if a Pokemon is born at the same time as a child in the family, then they are destined to be together. My Alolan Raichu, Chu, was born at the same time I was born and in the next room over, too. We have been inseparable. Anyway," she rolled her shoulders a bit to get them to not feel so stiff from the lack of comfort during sleep before continuing. "You heading into the Pokemon Center for any reason? I could possibly help you in your adventure here."

Imelda froze. She honestly didn’t have any plans. She just wanted to get as far away from where her family lived as possible. At their request, of course. She frowned slightly when she recalled what had happened when she had tried to go near them again, but quickly recovered her mood. Imelda thought for a second. “Just trying to figure out where I wanna go next.“ It was kinda true. She did want to figure out where she wanted to go, only she didn’t have a reason to go anywhere. Imelda grinned. “Thanks for the offer though!”

Shade noticed the look on Imelda's face, but decided not to press further on the subject. Something was bothering her and Shade didn't know if it was because of the fact she brought up family or if it was the realization that she was going to be on an adventure with some random stranger, who seemed nice enough to help. Then again, her words made Shade think that she was here to find her place. She seemed young enough to be that lost. Maybe she could help.

"Well, since you are wanting to be an author, why not accompany me while I make my way through Potlea and see the amazing sights and wondrous Pokemon? And if Potlea has a Gym Challenge or something of the like, we could probably partake in it. And since you are trying to find a place to go, why not enter the Pokemon Center and check its map? Or wander around the region a bit? It doesn't hurt to get lost. Sometimes, the most amazing adventures start when you have lost your way. Of course, seeing as you only have your little Litwick as a companion, it would be unwise to get lost. So map it is then."

With that, Shade walked into the Center, while Chu surfed after her birth partner. Chu looked over her shoulder and beckoned for Imelda to follow them as the entered before disappearing behind the doors.

”U-uh ok.” Imelda followed them into the pokemon center, still bewildered by what Shade had said. Granted, it did make sense what she had said, but the fact that Shade actually wanted her around was surprising. Litwick was barely staying on her should it was jumping around so much. Imelda grinned. Litwick definitely thought this was a good plan. Maybe she could do this! I doubt it. Imelda pushed the voice out of her head for what seemed like the millionth time. She really didn't feel like dealing with that at the moment. Instead, she focused on making sure Litwick didn't fall off as they made their way in.

(OOC: I will not be on enough since my due date is literally in half a week and I'm prepping for labor before that happens. I may not be on much in the coming days (not like I have been anyway). If you don't hear much from me, then that is why.)

Shade turned around and smiled as Imelda walked in after her. She gestured for her to do whatever she needed to do, while Shade walked over to the Pokemon Center's nurse.

"Hey, nurse. Was wondering if you can do a check up on my Pokemon before I embark on my journey," smiled Shade, to which the nurse smiled sweetly.

"Of course. Set them on this pan, and I shall have my Chansey take care of them," the nurse pulled up a pan that smelled of being sterilized. Shade set three of her PokeBalls down while Chu tapped her PokeBall and got pulled in with a flash of red before the Chansey picked up the pan and walked to the back of the center to do a routine check up on her Pokemon. Shade then leaned against the counter with her back facing the large monitor as she took a grand view of the bustle happening inside.

Imelda walked around a bit before spotting a regional map on the wall. She went over to it and tried to memorize the main landmarks, such as major cities. Her mind wandered a bit. I spoke to a lot more people than usual today. She thought to herself as she eating vacant chair. I wonder why. Imelda didn’t want to overthink about the situation. She had done it, and that was that. She looked over at Litwick, who was attempting to climb on a random Grottle’s shell. Imelda decided to let her play for a little bit, since she didn’t know when Litwick would be able to do that again. She looked back at Shade and smiled. Maybe being on a journey won’t be that bad.

"Is that your Litwick climbing on my Grotle?" He asked Imelda.

Imelda looked up at Jamie and nodded. “Y-yeah. Sorry.” Imelda picked Litwick up. “She’s j-just really playful.” Litwick waved happily before climbing onto Imelda’s shoulder. She smiled before looking back at him. “M-my name is Imelda. What’s yours?”

Shade was a little busy looking around before she noticed a guy with a Grotle talking to Imelda. Wondering if he would like to travel, she hopped over to him excitedly.

"Hello, there, young man. My name is Shadara, but you may call me Shade. What are you doing here in Potlea? Wanting to explore? Imelda and I are going to be going on a grand adventure! You want to come along? I am mostly here for the research, but I can go just about anywhere you guys need," her face was very bubbly and warm as she looked on with warm eyes and an equally warm smile.

Imelda nodded a little, then went back to thinking. So that was the third person she voluntarily spoke to today. Geez, she was really going all out with socializing today. Amazing how they haven’t left yet. They will. They always do. Imelda shook her head slightly to get rid of the thought. She smiled in an attempt to portray the same warmness as Shade.

( sorry if i am doing some thing wrong i just joined also it wont let me put a picture but ill find out soon how to do it
name: maria
partner: smeargle
gender: female
characteristics: some times shy but puts herself out there to make friends.
details: She lived in a small house here till she was 10 when she found out she could become a pokemon trainer. She thought it would be a good idea her starter was a ralts since there were no labs. She jumped a few regions before coming back to her home town where she now trains and battles her pokemon.

(rp)
Maria was walking around with her smeargle. They were just walking around not really doing anything just walking. On occasion, Smeargle stopped to make markings on the trees around them. Maria liked the markings her pokemon made as she would look at them before they kept walking.

Admin edit: RP posts must be in past tense. The use of 'would' here is nonsensical. Post edited.
