After healing their Pokemon, Natalia and Drake had found each other as they were about to leave for Route 3 and eventually Cerulean City. They caught up with each other, having been friendly rivals back in Unova and they were excited to see each other grow. It also had seemed that Natalia's Bulbasaur had evolved after Natalia fought Brock, so Drake's and Natalia's Ivysaurs began socializing. Natalia's Dewott and Drake's Pignite caught up, as they were from the same Pokemon trio, and Drake's Tranquill and Raichu began talking to Natalia's Riolu. Drake told her he had another Pokemon, but the Gyarados was too big to fit in the center. It was then that Drake told her about his missing Pichu.
Understanding him, Natalia gave him some advice. "Sometimes, some Pokemon don't mind the approach you do. It gives you the ability earn their respect and vice versa, and you can drill them to be better. However, I'm thinking that the Pichu really wanted to evolve and being denied the finer things of having a friendship bothered her when her teammates were being treated nicer than her."
Now, Natalia knew how to care for Pokemon. She had been studying the behaviors of Pokemon for quite a few years, with Drake teaching her how to train her Pokemon correctly. Drake had no idea that was what Pichu wanted, and felt upset that he actually destroyed his relationship with her just because she wanted to earn, not only his respect, but the respect for herself, as well.
There was in need of an apology. Of course, that meant they had to get going.
Natalia and Drake returned their Pokemon and left for Route 3. They found an Eevee cloaked in flames fighting a Charmeleon and two trainers were in command of them. A young girl with a Hattrem was nearby talking to a Riolu. A Wartortle was nearby, but there was no sign of any Pichu. Drake knew that the kid, known as Ventus, had a Pichu, but he wasn't sure if that was actually his Chu.
Natalia and Drake watched the battle, interested in the fact that the Eevee was practically immune to Fire. Now, Natalia was also studying Pokemon biology on top of their behaviors, so she had a vast knowledge of Pokemon. She looked over at Drake, who asked a question about the Eevee. Natalia just shrugged.
"Yea, Eevee aren't usually immune to Fire. Of course, it depends on where the Eevee has lived and their genetic structure. Their genetic structure is in so much flux, it can evolve into some Pokemon if it lived in an environment long enough. That's how you get wild Vaporeons and Glaceons running all over the place. The fast method is with Stones. The slower method is them living out in a specified area so their genetic structure leans towards that. For them to evolve into Vaporeon, they have to spend a lot of time near or in water, and primarily eat water creatures or sea plants. They will start to notice that water will heal them and they'll grow gills and fins, and their fur will become like fish scales as their tail becomes thicker and shaped to form a tail meant for swimming. For them to evolve into a Jolteon, they have to live in an electrically rich area, whether it be by thunderstorms or near an electrical plant, and they have to eat ionized plants, which are plants that have been shocked or have grown near the presence of electricity. They will start to realize electricity heals them and they'll become faster, with their fur being able to create static electricity easily and stand in end, while their tail shortens. For Flareon, they have to live near a warm environment, like a volcano, and they have to eat charred food, like burned berries or cooked meat, as well as anything super warm. Fire will make them physically stronger and they start to run what seems like a fever before their body starts to turn color and their fur gets longer as a result.
"For Espeon, they have to spend a lot of time meditating and being at peace with itself, while also feeling a connection with the sun. When its able to do so, it will start to have shorter fur, grow a Psychic gem on its forehead to amplify its psychic tendencies, become much slimmer and be able to detect minute shifts in the air, and its tail becomes slimmer and splits at the end. They also may not eat a whole lot, preferring to fast and eat minimal amounts of berries to awaken its Psychic energy. For Umbreon, they have to be nocturnal, hunt prey at night, and their eyes may adjust to the darkness easily. They have to feel a connection with the moon before their fur becomes shorter, and glowing rings gifted by the moon to help it see in the dark and terrify its opponents. These two Pokemon, blessed by either the sun or the moon's energy respectively, have the ability to share their status afflictments with their opponents, as a way to punish those that wish to harm these creatures. Or whatever that folklore thing said.
"For Leafeon, Eevee have to primarily live in forests or jungles and they have to eat either woodland creatures or plants, and feel a connection to nature, as well as soaking up the sun's rays. They will find their body has Special benefits in the sun by being healthier to fight off afflictments, their fur gets shorter, and leaves start to sprout on their bodies, while a huge leaf takes shape on its tail. When it evolves into Glaceon, it has to live in cold, snowing regions where all it can eat are frozen creatures that didn't make it or frozen berries. Once it has spent enough time mastering the cold, it will start to slowly take shape and it can hide better during Hail and snowstorms. It's body starts to become cold and rigid, and it can slowly start to freeze the air around it as its body starts to prefer colder climates compared to hot or temperate ones. It's body will then run cold, yet healthy at the same time, while its fur stays largely the same, but its tail thins out and ice forms on its forehead. The two dangly bits beside its face is there to shield it from the snow so it can see.
"As for Sylveon, that one is hard to pin down. It needs affection to evolve, as well as exposure to Fairy-Types and being taught by them. They teach the Eevee how to use its charm and cute looks to lure in unsuspecting prey before pouncing on them. Once that is done and it has felt like it is a part of a loving and affectionate family, it will become more airy and light, ribbons and bows out of fairy energy begin to form that also erase enmity, and its tail and fur get shorter."
Drake looked at Natalia stunned, her vast knowledge of Pokemon always surprising him. "How do you know-"
"I know because of a certain Professor. She studies genetics and biology and took to studying Eevees out in different areas. She told me her research after I said I would help, and she was grateful for what I have done. I got a huge amount of cash and a big bag of many different kinds of PokeBalls in my bag, as well as a book about habitats where Pokemon may live."
Drake smiled a little as he watched her talk. Man, she was amazing and intelligent and knowledgable and-... He quickly stopped himself there and paid attention to the battle at hand. He looked to Natalia and smirked. "Hey, they seem to be getting stronger. You think we can take them?"
Natalia scoffed. "Take them? We'll beat them, especially since you have that Gyarados on you, which meant that all of our Pokemon are around that experience of training. I think their Pokemon seem newly evolved. They sure do seem like they haven't mastered their new bodies quite yet. That is, unless you want to battle and make it seem like a cakewalk." She gave him a teasing grin out of the corner of her eye.
Drake just shrugged his shoulders and kept watching, though a blush dared to creep out before he managed to will it away. Though, this was going to be interesting. It also seemed like Drake had given up his search for his Pichu.
Natalia wanted to make sure no one was going to stop the battle for them and yelled at the two fighters. "Yea, keep fighting. Don't mind us."
