Ask to Join Region of Contests & Coordinators

To join: [https://pokecharms.com/threads/region-of-contests-coordinators-discussion.19573/]

A Region of art, creativity, unbelievable skill and spectacular performances. A set of islands not too far off from Western Sinnoh, known extremely well for its incomparable expertise in the area of all things show business. A Region where there are no battle Gyms, Frontier, or League Championship. This Region focuses solely in the area of Pokemon performances; showing off the creative and beautiful side of Pokemon just as much as their strength.

Welcome to Solsan.

The Solsan Region is home to the very prominent SCUSD // the Solsan Coordination Unified School District. Within this District are four schools that mold and shape students into masters in the world of Pokemon Contests - competitions where Trainers, mostly classified as 'Coordinators', exemplify both the elegance and power of their Pokemon. They must dazzle both audiences and judges with combinations and movesets to create beautiful appeals, as well as battle other contestants with style and finesse. There is one thing that most Coordinators work incredibly hard to achieve, and that is the title of Top Coordinator. To receive such a rank, one must prove his or her abilities to deploy their Pokemon with grace and the ability to triumph over all other competition within the Grand Festival. Top Coordinators are highly respected for their skill and confidence. Many high ranking and famous Coordinators throughout several Regions are alumni from one of the SCUSD schools.

However, Top Coordinators within Solsan are the most commendable performers out of any other Region, due to its extreme difficulty to become one there. In order to even come within reach to the rank, one must first hone and display their abilities within one of the four most prestigious academies within the SCUSD. These schools are tedious in who they accept as students, as you must have shown large amounts of skill, potential, and experience when applying. These schools are...

Everworth Academy, Solsan's Facility of Coordination;
Mascot - Gardevoir; holding the 3rd highest reputation.
-
Emerald Grove, Coordination Academy of Solsan; Mascot - Serperior; holding the 2nd highest reputation.
-
Spectre Arts, Solsan School of Coordination; Mascot - Zoroark; current reigning champions when it comes to notability and success.

Well, there is also MidWay Academy of Solsan Coordination, their mascot as Ninetails; the fourth, and lowest ranking school in the SCUSD. While still incredibly respected and adored in the public eye, the students of MidWay aren't considered as 'on par' with the Student Coordinators of the other three academies. In fact, within the smaller hierarchy of the schools, MidWay is often mocked and belittled for being home to the lesser-abled students.

Throughout the school year, the academies host many exclusive Contests, conferences, workshops, and field trips to other Regions in order for the students to learn any and everything needed to climb the ranks within the world of Coordination. Annually, there is even a gigantic Grand Festival, in which the students from Spectre Arts, Emerald Grove, Everworth, and MidWay Academy will go head to head to see who has truly developed their skills and claim the title of Solsan's Top Coordinator while the entire Region (and even citizens of afar) spectate eagerly. Usually, students that attend Spectre Arts and the other top 2 schools tend to claim victory within Solsan's Grand Festival, whereas MidWay hasn't had a student rise to success within the competition in an embarrassing gap of time.

The talented attendees of MidWay have much, much work to do in order to raise their school's credibility among the four performing institutions.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, the day had come. The first official day of the year for the Solsan Coordination Unified School District.
During the summer, countless amounts of hopeful Coordinators from all over the world - from Kanto to Alola - had been applying to the performing arts schools of Solsan. The limited amount of accepted students would be placed into one of the four academies depending on the amount of skill their past records had shown. These students would then be put through intense training courses to grow to become the best of the best... and everyone wished to be among those chosen, so that they could take the first step in becoming a seasoned pro.
The sun began to shine brightly over the beautiful scenery of Solsan's metropolitan mainland. Those accepted into the four schools were publicly announced the night before and celebrated. It would be a tedious, but enjoyable experience, and in the end, only the most passionate and driven would succeed.
"I can't believe I made into Midway Academy," a young trainer yelled aloud to no one in particular. The male was dressed in a casual attire of black jeans and his signature Pokeball themed hoodie of red, white, and black. Underneath the hoodie was a plain white t-shirt and accommodating his lower half was a pair of red converse sneakers. His black prescription glasses were situated on the brim of his nose as his chestnut spiked hair bounced along with every step he took. Beside him was his trusty companion Luxray, holding onto the male's light brown satchel containing all his materials and items for the day.
Walking along the bustling streets of Apsan City, the trainer, known as Crimson Asters, was making his way towards the heart of the city: Midway Academy. Midway Academy was one of the top academies that he had aspired to join into. His other choices were Everworth, Emerald, and Spectre. Unfortunately for the latter, he wasn't accepted into any of those schools as his talents didn't satisfy any of their expectations. He was fortunate enough to have at least made it within the Solsan Coordination Unified School District.
"Can you even believe it Luxray," Crimson suddenly turned to face the electric quadruped, "We worked hard to get into Solsan, but now we're actually here!" The Gleam Eyes Pokemon growled in acknowledgement to his trainers enthusiasm on making his way towards his goal of Top Coordinator. Luxray was Crimson's partner during his Sinnoh run for the Sinnoh Grand Festival. However, despite their hard work, they weren't able to make it far into the Grand Festival. They were lucky to have someone recommend them join Solsan to improve their abilities, not only as a Coordinator, but as a better friend to Pokemon overall.
Crimson ran his hands through the sleek black mane of Luxray. "First off though," Crimson began once again. "We got to make it to orientation first before our session in Solsan sets off anywhere." The electric type only purred as it pushes it's head closer to the trainer's palm for comfort. The trainer only laughed at the Pokemon's antics. "Anyways, do you mind," Crimson asked the Gleam Eyes for permission. Luxray nodded with his consent and laid lower of the floor for the trainer to get on. Crimson took his satchel off of Luxray's neck and strapped it over his shoulder before stationing himself on the back of the quadruped. Luxray lifted itself off the ground with ease as it's trainer didn't weigh as much as it seems and quickly made their way towards Midway Academy, located only a few more blocks from their original position.
A young trainer who wore a light brown, sleeveless top that openly displayed an Eevee's face as a logo on said shirt. Along with this the trainer wore pair of jean shorts dark green & white tennis shoes as she moved down the streets of Apsan City before she came to a stop just in front of the general Solsan Coordination Unified School District.
The trainer in question was Veronica Roberts, better known as "Vicky" to those close to her back in her hometown of Petalburg City. By her side was her partner Pokemon Gardevoir as both trainer and Pokemon eyed the school district and the main source of their journey to this point; Midway Academy. At first, Vicky honestly scoffed at the idea of going to a Coordinator School as she figured she could just do it naturally and become a star.
A humbling experience at the Hoenn Grand Festival showed that was far from the case, and that she had a long way to go before she could consider herself a respectable Coordinator; let alone someone worthy to follow the footsteps of the great Wallace. So when Vicky had been informed of this special Coordinator region she knew she could not resist the chance to learn and grow. So that when Vicky got her next chance at the Grand Festival, she'd be able to make the most of it.
"Well, we finally made it. Gotta say this place is huge! I think you and the other guys are gonna like it here." Vicky said to her companion as the Gardevoir nodded and smiled at Vicky who in turn focused back at Midway Academy and knew she had began to jump to conclusions. Firs there was the ordination before the Solsan session could even begin. And as Vicky saw other trainers & their Pokemon go there, including a trainer who seemed to be riding a Luxray, she knew she had to get going as she turned to her Psyche friend.
"Say, mind using a teleport to get us to the entrance faster. It is a long way away after all..."
"Gar-devoir!"
With that, Gardevoir's eyes shined before it teleported itself & Vicky towards the entrance of the orientation assembly area as they were eager to see what was in store for them.
Ozzy felt no need for grand introduction, walking onto the beautiful sunlit campus. His Pokémon were all held in their Timer Balls, which were cheaper than Ultra Balls in Canalave, as he walked, calmly to orientation. He was dressed up a bit, assuming he had to be in a gray two-piece suit over a jade green button up shirt. However, he was sorely mistaken and felt a little out of place seeing the other trainers not so formally dressed. Ozzy much preferred a casual outfit, although secretly he felt more confident in his appearance in it, though he knew his overdressing would be subject to some mocking.
His journey from Canalave to Jubilife, then Jubilife airport to the school was a tiring one, and he still was suffering from some jet lag. Naturally, Oz was a little on edge. This wasn't his top school, like many other trainers here, and although he was waitlisted for one other school, he never got an answer. He calmly stepped into the assembly area, although he was a few minutes before being late.
As the students and teachers waited for everyone to arrive, Ozzy's thoughts consumed him. He'd have to have a dorm mate, by god that'd be fun. What if the roommate is annoying? What if they're forced to partner together and he's a bad coordinator? After all, this school was sort of the bottom of the barrel for high-ranking schools. It was a "you tried" sticker with a smiley face for those who had spent years coordinating. At least, in his perspective. How about the food? The dormitory itself? Are the teachers at all adequate? He tried to shake away the thoughts and wait for the ceremony patiently. He sent his Snubbul, Cariño out of his ball, and held him in his arms, much to the Pokemon's chagrin. Though he understood why Osmio was doing it. He needed the comfort, so the Fairy Pokémon sat patiently in Osmio's arms waiting for this stress to phase out.
Tira walked forward through the gates with a small, black blur walking next to her. "Hey Shade, cut out the illusion. People are pointing." She said to the blur. A small chuckling sound came from it as a Zorua jumped from the blur. It reached her chest, climbing quickly back up to her shoulder. "Of course you climb back up there." She said as she walked forward.
As Tira and her partner walked through the school grounds, many thoughts came through her head. Are there any good coordinators? Will she make any friends? Is her Jangmo-o gonna become part of her team? All those thoughts and more went through her head as she walked around. The trainers were all waiting on the opening, so she went to join them, but as she stepped forward a trainer and a Gardevoir teleported right where she would run into them.
A young girl rode on the back of an Aegislash as it flew across the skies towards Midway Academy. The girl came from the neighboring region of Sinnoh and had been eagerly waiting for this day. "Come on Anubis, we must not be late." The girl called out towards her pokemon. Anubis glanced back with a slightly confused look. "Yeah I know, I barely get this excited over anything. But this is different so come on." She said before the Aegislash picked up speed.
When the Midway Academy came into view, the girl jumped off the back of her pokemon and joined the crowd of other people waiting for the grand opening. Anubis settled beside his trainer who patted him on the head. "Thanks for getting me here this fast Anubis." She said as her pokemon smiled.
Nora Wood, a Coordinator who had just set her foot on the school of Midway Academy in Solsan Coordination Unified School District or SCUSD. She has been waiting all summer for this day, to meet new people and form her skills in Coordinating in the school. She let out a small squeak of excitement and turned to one of her Pokemon (who was the only Pokemon out at the moment), Whimsicott, who also was quite exited and hopped around his trainer in the air happily.
"We're finally here! We're finally here!" Nora exclaimed exited and watched her Pokemon float around her and continued walking towards the school. She walked through the gates of Midway Academy and looked around. Even if it was on the fourth place of the four schools of SCUSD, Nora was thinking positively of it.
Nora walked to the opening of the school where probably the most of the students were. Whimsicott was eager to meet new people and pokemon and possibly making new friend. When the the windveiled Pokemon noticed a trainer with a snubbul and quickly flew towards them. Nora didn't notice it at first, but when she saw that her Pokemon was gone she got a mini heart attack, it didn't take long to see that her Whimsicott was with a trainer and Snubbul and ran after her Pokemon.
"Whimsicott! You can't just fly off like that!" She said somewhat embarrassed and worried at the same time. Whimsicott turned to his trainer, smiled and floated beside Nora.
"I'm so sorry about that!" She said now with a more normal voice, "By the way, I'm Nora. Nice to meet you." She continued trying to change the subject.
Osmio had completely zoned out when he heard a soft growl coming from Cariño. He hushed the Snubbull and jumped turning to see another Fairy Pokémon had floated next to him. A distressed coordinator called towards the Pokémon, startling Snubbull who Oz had to stop from barking at. The Whimsicott didn't seem to be phased by the worry, and floated back to the trainer. Osmio was caught off guard when the fellow coordinator stuck her hand out, introducing herself.
"Uh," Ozzy stuck out a hand, "Nice to meet you too." He turned his head back towards the nearly starting assembly, before noticing the girl didn't just walk away and leave well enough alone. "Can I, uh, help you with something?" Osmio was clearly deadset on getting through the day with as little interactions with strangers as possible, which would be near impossible at the first day at an academy that largely focused on cooperation between trainers and Pokémon.
Vicky smiled as she appeared in front of the doors of the orientation, waiting with the other aspiring Coordinators as she turned to her partner with a smile.
"Well, looks like we made i...GAH!"
Vicky's words were cut off when she felt something bump into her back which knocked her flat on her face. Gardevoir immediately went over to offer Vicky comfort as she took a moment to shake out the cobwebs and got back to her feet. After she dusted herself off, she turned back to see someone who she presumed was a Coordinator bump into her which caused her frown.
"Hey watch where you...oh, right. I kinda teleported. S-sorry..." Vicky said, as her frown vanished and she realized she was the one at fault as she got up and offered a hand to the stranger that she warped in front of that caused the collision.
The wind blew threw Crimson's hair as the duo of him and Lunxray made their way quickly to the school and orientation. It wasn't necessarily that they were going to be late, as the they still have a solid twenty minutes before school starts. Crimson was just excited. Adrenaline and excitement rushed through his veins, the thrill of being at least one step closer to Top Coordinator. His Carios journey put him quite close, even for his first time journeying the region. But his skills deteriorated during Sinnoh, and it evidently showed. After practically being on borderline from Top Coordinator in Carios, he had taken back at least ten or twenty steps backwards in Sinnoh. It was time to redeem himself, and the Solsan Region and Midway Academy were the key in doing so.
After swerving and narrowly dodging civilians of Apsan City, Luxray had managed to successfully managed to drop off it's trainer to Midway Academy in one piece. Luxray silently purred at itself, complimenting itself for doing such a nice job. Crimson jumped of the Gleam Eyes Pokemon back and ran his fingers through the giant feline's midnight black mane. "Thank you Luxray," Crimson started off. Taking his hand off the Pokemon's head, the duo walked their way into the gates and onto the campus grounds of Midway Academy.
Walking through the metal gates of Midway, many things caught the attention of Crimson. His golden brown orbs scanned the area. Midway appeared to be a big campus, having multiple buildings for different classrooms and facilities for both faculty, administration, and trainees to use. There was a Pokemon Center just for easy access for students if anything went wrong, There was the office for any registration and information purposes. The library was obviously there for the studying. A few buildings here and there that contained for classes obviously. But this was only the upper quad of Midway. Crimson read there was a whole lower quad as well. He'd have to explore that later.
Crimson's attention focused now, not on the surrounding buildings and campus anymore, but more so the students and peers he would most likely be competing against or working with. Even in Midway Academy. there's still competition between the students. Who would come out the top within Midway? Who would come out on top between each class? And most importantly, out of all of them, who is the one to rise to the top first? Tension can obviously be felt, even on orientation day, more there were a few here and there, breaking the tensions and talking amongst themselves. Crimson's eyes found himself staring at a couple of students.
There was a student with a particular Snubbull within their arms. For such a unique Pokemon, it can sure show off btoh it's cuteness and tough exterior. There was another that came gliding down on an Aegislash from the air, clearly an experienced trainer if they have fully evolved Pokemon. Most of the trainers here are from around the world after all, some of them may be experienced while some are new. A young lad with a Zorua perched on her shoulder was seen waking too. It was quite rare to see a Zorua, something he didn't expect to see. They'll definitely put on a show with that Zorua. Suddenly, a girl appeared out of nowhere with a bright flash, along side her was an elegant Gardevoir. Talk about an entrance, they're someone to watch out for. A Whimsicott came floating by, with it's trainer chasing after it. Ah, more trainer-Pokemon bonding.
There was definitely tough competition in this generation. But Crimson wasn't one to back down. Not now, when his journey in Solsan has barely even started yet.
Tira was sent backwards from the suprising impact that happened to be a trainer and pokemon. Shade, though, jumped into the air doing a backflip so it landed on her chest without much of a problem. But seeing that Tira was mostly uninjured, it clung on so that as Tira climbed back to her feet she wouldn't fall of Tira's chest.
A hand was offered to Tira from the person she ran into. The run-in rattled her a little bit, nothing major at all. "Honestly, don't blame it on yourself. Who knows how many people run into others mid teleport?" She said trying to shrug both the impact and the pain in her head. "Um, well, yea. Are you here as a Coordinator as well?"
Nora looked at the student who had shock her hand in response. He looked a little uncomfortable talking to her, which she understand, due to some people easily getting annoyed just by being around her.
"No. I don't think so, but thanks for not freaking out of my Whimsicott." She said took her Pokemon from the air in her hands, ensuring that he won't float off again. "Anyway, I think the orientation will start soon, so I'll just go... Hope you'll have a great first day" She said with a somewhat awkward smile on her face, not knowing how to end the conversation and left. She looked at her Whimsicott, who was looking back at the Snubbul and it's trainer.
"I know you want to make friends and all, but can't you wait at least for the orientation to start?" Nora said to her Pokemon and returned to her original spot before running after Whimsicott. The windveiled Pokemon nodded silently, and turned his eyes towards his trainer and smiled. Nora chuckled and turned to the direction where the orientation would probably start.
Vicky was glad to see that the trainer appeared to be uninjured by the collision, as Harmony scanned the curious Pokemon on the trainer's chest as Vicky overheard the trainer's question which caused her to smile.
"Yes I am. Came all the way from Hoenn to take part in this Coordinator's school. My name is Veronica Roberts, but I prefer to go by Vicky. And this is my partner Gardevoir, Harmony." Vicky said as she introduced both herself and her partner Pokemon as Harmony scanned the pair up and down before it bent down to give a respectful bow to them.
"I take it then that you are a Coordinator as well?" Vicky asked back to the girl as she felt that was an educated guess based off the girl's question along with the fact she was outside the orientation area for this Coordinator school. Still, would be rude not to ask Vicky told herself.
Crimson watched around him, observing people and their Pokemon. He practically knew no one here, so might as well keep to himself and his Pokemon for now. After all, these are still his competition as of right now, who knows what could happen. Crimson socialize later, he'll eventually open up to some people later. Not now for sure, but maybe later within his days of the academy. Luxray was casually sitting on the concrete pavement beside Crimson waiting for what is to come next for both itself and it's trainer.
The young coordinator's train of though was broken as a booming, almost aggressive, voice came from nowhere. Crimson looked around to see if there was anyone specifically speaking. But his eyes scanned the area, to see there was no one standing out. His assumption was stood corrected as the voice came clearly from a sound system connected to the whole school campus.
"Welcome both new and old Midway Academy students! This is your principal, Miss Kensington, speaking. Congratulations on becoming 76th generation to join Midway! If you would, please start making your way to the School Contest Hall, located in the lower quad. Your orientation will start at 8:15 sharp, you don't want to miss it. Again, orientation is located at the School Contest Hall in the lower quad. Thank you!" The sound system shut off with a loud buzz, signalling that the principal had shut off her mini dialogue and the announcements were over.
Murmurs and mumbled rippled through the sea of students at the entrance of the academy. Not long after, many students started their mini journey to the Contest Hall. Due to everyone and their Pokemon heading to the desired location all at once, there was a small traffic jam inconveniently for everyone. Lots of trainers, mainly trainers with big Pokemon started to return their Pokemon to their respective Pokeball just to ease the traffic and move things along quicker.
Following those people's lead, Crimson decided to imitate their actions. "Luxray, you're going to have to return, 'kay?" Crimson asked the Gleam Eyes Pokemon. The large quadruped opened it's eyes and saw that everyone was leaving off to somewhere, understanding that it's trainer needs to leave too. With a gruff, Luxray nodded and the electric type was sucked into the capsule with a red flash. Crimson put away Luxray's Pokeball, hooking it back onto his satchel. The chestnut haired male squeezed himself into the middle of the wave and moved along with the crowd.
After a while of practical baby steps from the horde of students, Crimson finally was able to get inside the Contest Hall. The hall was much more bigger than what it looked like on the outside. Examining the stage, the stage was big, almost as big as a Grand Festival Pokemon stage, which shocked Crimson. SCUSD really put themselves out of the way just to make sure their schools are getting what they need for Pokemon Coordination. Within the audience section, students have situated themselves comfortably in the seats. Crimson walked over to an empty chair, which was stationed around the near back center of the audience station. Having nothing else to do, Crimson fiddled with his smartphone; modern day technology nowadays.
Not even a minute late, the lights within the Contest Halls has dimmed and the students murmurs had died down, meaning the orientation had started. A voice ripped out from the stage. "Gastrodon, use Mud Shot! Glameow, use Thunderbolt!" From behind the stage, shots of mud flew out from behind the curtains and a bolt of electricity along with it. The mud globs and electricity collided mid-air, making an intricate star shaped of some sort. The star shaped glowed a golden hue due to the Thunderbolt. The figure hung in the air, as of the law of nature has failed it and gravity had no existence within the combo. "Gastrodon, use Hidden Power!" Glowing white orbs flew out from behind the curtain and collided with the star of Mud Shot and Thunderbolt. The impact of the moves conjured up fireworks, that had captured the awe and gasps of the students within the audience.
The curtain finally raised up to reveal the creator of that contest move as none other than Zoey, Top Coordinator from the Sinnoh Grand Festival held in Lake Valor. The students clapped and cheered for the revealed Top Coordinator who stood their and bowed her head along with her Glameow and Gastrodon. "You guys may know me as Zoey, the Top Coordinator. I'm just here to explain to all of you that I was in your position once. Not the 'going to Midway Academy' part, but the part where we start off fresh. I once stood at the bottom and made my way to the top with hard work and effort. You and your Pokemon can make their way to the top too if you guys work hard and don't give up. If you fall, keep trying. And one day, you'll make it to your dreams. So work hard, and stay in school, and achieve your goals!" Screams and claps erupted from the hall from Zoey's speech, everyone getting hyped up to achieve what she achieved.
"Let's give a thank you to Zoey for that wonderful exhibition and small speech. She is going to be at Midway this whole first week, helping anyone who needs to grasp on Coordinating and more. So talk to her if you need any help!" Miss Kensington announced to the whole Contest Hall as she walked out from the side stage. Hoots and hollers were given to the Top Coordinator as she and her Pokemon left the stage to allow the principal to do her mini orientation.
"Welcome all students, both old and new, to Midway Academy. It's a please for me to welcome the 76th generation of Midway trainees into the school. It's wonderful to see many new aspiring faces to join our school, believing that we are capable of helping you achieve your goals of Top Coordinator. I would like you to thank you for allowing us to be part of your dreams. I'll make this quick, because we know no one really likes orientations," Miss Kensington said. Ripples of laughter came from the crowed from the small joke. "Anyways, first things firstL Rules and regulations. Just because we are a stepping stone for you to achieve your dream, doesn't mean you can't abide to any of the rules of work you're given. The work and rules are there to help you expand your growth and ensure your safety. We have the right to step in when needed, if things aren't going the way it seems. Just know that we do these things because we are confident that it will help you reach your goal of Top Coordinator, I'm assuming. Secondly, your Pokemon is a major compartment for your journey. Please ensure that you keep your Pokemon healthy and help your Pokemon grow along with you. Lastly, this is a closed campus. We have stricter security because of issues of break ins and break outs, too many in fact. Please try to stay within school until the end of the school day please. Well that's really it for the mini orientation. You should've gotten gotten your schedule and room assignment within the mail about a month ago. If there are any issues, please go to the main office where the secretaries will help you. There are no classes today, it's an open day for you to explore and learn about the school campus. Classes start tomorrow, thank you!"
Students made their way out the Contest Hall and everyone started splitting off into their own direction. Some exploring, or going to the offices. Crimson and along some other students decided to make their way to the dorms first. According to the given flier from Midway, his stuff should be moving in within late afternoon, along with everyone else's packages. Might as well find his dorm first then.
The last couple of hours were all a blur for Platinum Summers, a young Coordinator hailing from the northern snow den known as Snowpoint City, Sinnoh. The amber headed boy was beyond ecstatic as he stepped in to the vicinity of the Solsan Coordination Unified School District - the place where several Contest aspirants from literally all over the world marveled at and wished to attend. After years of practice within the field of training Pokemon and participating in several Contests, including Sinnoh's Grand Festival, Platinum was finally eligible to apply to the SCUSD. He made quick work to ensure that his application was successfully sent to all four of the popular schools - Everworth, Midway, Emerald Grove, and especially Spectre Arts, where he personally wished to attend the most due to its obvious popularity and commendable records.
However, as fate had it, Platinum was only assigned to MidWay Academy. Although the school was the least successful out of the four, this was still a huge deal in the eyes of Platinum who was thankful to have even been accepted into any of them. When it came to Contests, the 18 year old was very confident in his and his Pokemon's abilities, but the farthest that he had ever gotten from both of the times he qualified for the Grand Festival was the second rounds. He figured that with records like that he realistically wouldn't have much of a chance to secure a spot as a student in Spectre Arts.
Platinum's red-ish gaze observed everything around him as he was awe-struck in the middle of MidWay's campus, where several other future students waited instruction just like he did. From what he could see between the other Coordinators and their Pokemon, the competition here would be pretty high. He could tell everyone else had the same mindset as him - everyone wanted to come, hone and develop their skills, and become the best. Wasn't that goal of the times, though? Wanting to be unique was a very common ambition here, so he knew he would have to find ways to stand out among the rest.
"Woah... just look at all of this!" Platinum called, "We really made it." He spoke to the slender Delcatty that remained poised next to him.
The Prim Pokemon was the boy's partner for quite some time, being raised up from a Skitty and quickly becoming the preferred Ace on the team when it came to Contests. She was elegant, and appeared to have the facial expression of not having a care in the world, but even Delcatty was admiring her new surroundings and the opportunities to come. However, after getting a good look at the terrain and other Pokemon, Delcatty had began brushing up against her trainer's legs with her purple tuft ears, signaling that she wished to return to her Pokeball. Platinum understood, as the feline's species was mostly nocturnal and she preferred to rest during the day.
Before he knew it, Platinum and the other students were ordered into the Contest Hall, where they were all dazzled by an array of combinations performed by none other than Zoey, his own Region's current Top Coordinator! Quickly becoming star-struck as well, he listened on as the red head offered encouragement to all of the new students. Soon after, he paid close attention to the rest of the Orientation before they were all released to set out and give themselves tours of MidWay.
He jumped at the opportunity, checking the handheld maps that the students were provided with, and began moving within the large crowd of students towards the dorms.
Osmio was unenthused by the jokes of Ms Kensington, though dazzled at Zoey's performance. He had watched her live at the Grand Festival before, but had never faced her- that would be something. He returned Cariño to his Pokéball, to the Fairy Pokémon's reliefm and started to wander around the campus. Once he had gotten out of the crowd, he sent out his Pangoro. Picar liked to get some fresh air frequently, and had done a good job of staying in his Pokéball. Though he walked pretty slow, which bothered Ozzy quite a bit. Once he found his dorm, he opened the door to be greeted with his roommate, already settled in. The boy rushed over and hugged Osmio. He didn't return the hug, and pushed him away.
"I'm Jesper, I'm gonna be your roommate!! This is gonna be so fun!" The perky boy had a cheering Minccino on his shoulder, and a smiling Luvdisc at his side. Picar kept an angry poker face, as Jesper poked his head from the side of Oz, being much much shorter than him. "Is that a Pangoro? They're so cool! I wanna get a Pancham! Where're you from? Are you from Kalos, they have a lotta Pangoro there! I'm from Undella town, so're most of my Pokémon, or they're from around the area. Did you know people don't really care about contests in Unova? It's ridiculous!" The boy was bouncing up and down, but really, Osmio just wanted to be alone and collapse on his bed while waiting for class.
"Uh, alright then." Oz did just what he wanted to do, plopping down on one of the beds, no sheets put on yet. Jesper's Minccino sniffed all over Pangoro, then tried to pull the twig out of his mouth. This caused Picar to emit an aggravated Roar, causing Minccino to jump back in fright.
"Minklee! Get over here girl!" The Chinchilla Pokémon scurried over to Jesper, dropping the twig on the way. Jesper nudged Oz, who was already half asleep. "Dude, we gotta go get ready to go check if the moving stuff's here yet!" Ozzy moaned in exhaustion.
"We don't have to do that till this afternoon. Just let me sleep for a couple hours." Jet lag was hitting him hard and he wanted a break.
"Aww, but we gotta be awake and ready! I'm gonna wait here and not sleep till we get our stuff! We can talk until then! What's your favorite stage of contests? Mine's the double performance, you get to demonstrate two things your Pokémon does! Do you feed your Pokémon poffins? I give most of my Pokémon sweet ones, except Skooplee, he hates sweet ones. Y'know, Champion Cynthia from Sinnoh visits Undella sometimes! I wonder if she ever does contests? Who would win in a fight between Cynthia and Iris? Personally, I th-"
Osmio got himself out of bed and returned Picar to his Pokéball. "I'm going for a walk." He adjusted his blazer and stepped outside, looking for literally anything else to do.
"Oh, uh, alright." Jesper was a bit disappointed to have already scared off his new friend, but was fine to wait till the movers came.
Crimson steadily moved along with the crowd of students that made their way towards the dorms. Looks like most of the students had the same thought process. Annoying because of the traffic, but Crimson will have to get used to it sooner or later. Eventually, there won't be any traffic, it's still the first day of school after all. Things move quite slowly on first day of schools generally. But eventually Crimson was able to make it to his dorm. His dorm room was up a few floors. There were a couple students going into their room on his floor already, some even meeting their roommate already. The poke-ball attired trainer wondered if his roommate had already arrived within their shared dorm, or even if he's going to even have a roommate at all. In all honesty, Crimson rather have a roommate than no one else as long as they respect his boundaries. Pokemon are fun to talk to and all, but it's kind of hard to relate to them when you don't understand them.
Arrive to his dorm room, which was conveniently at the end of the corridor, Crimson inserted his room key card. The card slid into the slot easily. The door gave a small buzz and a click, signalling the door was unlocked. Crimson entered the room with a questionable caution. The room was relatively empty, aside the two twin beds each respectively on the opposite side of the room. The beds were built almost as bunk bends, except there was only a top bunk and no bottom bunk. Beneath each top bed was a desk area to allow the students to do teir own work and more if needed. With Midway Academy being part of the SCUSD, they had money. The room contained a single restroom for the roommates to share. There was more space for any furniture the roommates want to put in, or for their Pokemon to roam around. Of course, only decently sized Pokemon, a Dragonite wouldn't be capable of fitting within the room.
The male coordinator made his way to the left side of the room, immediately claiming the left bed as he was the first to make it to the room, Hence he had every right to claim the bed first. Examining the room, Crimson began to see how he should decorate his side of his room. He imagined posters here and there. Crimson suddenly thought about his Pokemon, who would be able to stay out and about within the room and who wouldn't. The only Pokemon that wouldn't fit within his room would be Pyramadon, Volcarona, and Voldrakon. Everyone should be fine.
Crimson laid on his bed and wondered on how he should pass the time. He was wanted to explore and do stuff, but it's awkward doign it by himself.
"Wow..."
Vicky could offer nothing more than that as she viewed the spectacular performance of Zoey who dazzled those in the orientation as the Grand Festival winner showed just what made a pro coordinator such a marvel to view. This, combined with the jokes that Ms. Kensington told which she considered to be amusing helped to fire her up all the more.
After the grandeur of the opening display, Vicky listened to the rest of the Orientation before they were free to disperse. As others had done, Vicky decided to follow the bulk of the students to the dorm as she took one of the MidWay maps as she was eager to see where they were staying at. She also wondered if she would be roomed with someone or end up on her own. Either option was fine with her, though she preferred some company as she was not one to enjoy being in solitude for extended periods.
I mean, being by myself in a dorm outside of class would get dull...
"Gard!"
Vicky turned to her Gardevoir, as the Psychic type seemed to have read her thoughts there and took offense to the idea that Vicky would have been "alone" without a roommate; something Vicky picked up on quickly gave her Gardevoir a sheepish grin as she rubbed the back of her head nervously.
"O-of course I wasn't ignoring you. I always know you and the team and there for me just like I am there for you." Vicky said in her defense, which was true but her earlier mental wording could have been better as she & Gardevoir continued to follow the mass of bodies to the dorms.
Bzzz.... click!
Platinum's dorm room had been unlocked, and the boy began slowly pushing it open. It seemed to have taken years to even reach his room due to all of the crowding and confusion of new students, as well as the confusing twists and turns when it came to the lay out of MidWay's large terrain. Nonetheless, he was here and had finally made it - now all there was to do was hope that his luggage would arrive some time soon, unpack, and then prepare for the first actual day of Coordination Classes the next day.
As he removed the key card from the door's slot, Platinum stepped into the room to see a boy his age laying on one of the twin beds the room contained. At first he wondered who the boy was, but then the Coordinator had come to the quick conclusion that this was obviously his roommate... because who else would be chilling out in the dorm on the first day like that? Platinum did a slight facepalm, in shock of his own temporary ditsyness.
"Oh, hello!" He spoke to the brunette, stepping farther into the room. "Name's Platinum, and I'm assuming we're roommates, nice to meet you!"
As he continued into the room he looked around, noticing that the area was very well kept and included a lot more things and supplies than other academies did - this was definitely a testimony as to how high ranking the SCUSD was. He sat on the bed on the right side of the room, enjoying its comfortability. He hoped that he and the boy across from him would be able to get along, as they would definitely be seeing a lot of eachother.
Flying above the crowd of people, Morgan was once again riding her Aegislash to avoid traffic. "Hey Anubis, let's go to the dorms first." She said as her Pokemon nodded. Morgan thought about Zoey's performance she saw earlier. "Man, top coordinator truly are a sight aren't they, able to dazzle the crowd in matters of seconds with a spectacular show. I wonder if I'll ever be like that." She said to herself while she rode her Pokemon to the dorms.
When she arrived in front of her dorm room, she returned her Pokemon to his pokeball. "Thanks for your help today Anubis." She said while returning him. She then walked into the room and looked around. "Wow, this place looks great." She said out loud. "Well, its expected from one the most prestigious Pokemon contest schools out there." She added before grabbing another pokeball. "Magician, come out and take a look at this." She said as she sent her Blaziken out. She would then go sit on the side of her bed. "This is the start of our new journey Magician, I'm pretty excited about this." She said as her Blaziken nodded in agreement.
Crimson jumped a bit, hearing the door buzz and click all at once. It was either he was getting robbed on the first day of school or his roommate has finally arrived. Luckily for him, it was the latter. Crimson watched as a male with golden blonde hair come into the dorm. Crimson slowly sat up to greet himself to his new roommate. Despite Crimson's antics, his roommate beat him to the introduction. Crimson finds out his name was Platinum. Crimson and Platinum? Well that's going to definitely make for an interesting duo. The brunette gave a slight wave at the mention of the hello from the latter.
As soon as his roommate finished his own introduction, Crimson does his own accordingly. "Well, it's nice to meet you too Platinum," Crimson started off. "My name is Crimson and hope we can treat each other well." Crimson gave a small shy smile at the stranger, not knowing what else to do at the moment. Might as well get associated with Platinum as they're going to be ultimately stuck with each other for the whole school year. Crimson only watched the latter as he went to sit on the bed opposite of Crimson.
"Hey Platinum," Crimson started off awkwardly, not knowing how to successfully start a conversation. "I was thinking of going off to explore around the school for a bit, maybe even do some coordination practice. If you don't mind me asking, you want to join?" Crimson asked Platinum. Crimson got himself off the bed and stood nearby the door entrance to see if the other coordinator would come along with him or if he will be exploring on his own for now.
Nora walked out of the auditorium, where the orientation was held. Inspiration sparkled in her eyes from the words and the performance Zoey, Sinnohs top Coordinator, had in the auditorium. She had seen the Sinnoh Grand Festival on TV when she was younger and was mostly inspired from the them, so it was kind of a big deal to Nora, to see one of her idols live. She took the map of the school from her hoodies pocket and decided to go to the dorms, so she followed the big crowd of other students that were also heading towards the dorms, her Windveild pokemon in her arms to insure that he won't float of.
Nora got to her dorm and unlocked the door by using the key card. There was a buzz and a click, gesturing that the door was open. The coordinator opened the door, Whimsicott now floating beside her, somewhat drowsy. The Windveild had much energy in him, but it was drained quite fast, so he took many naps during the day. She looked around the room and noticed two bed that reminded her of bunk beds. Other wise there was much space to decorate. Well Nora was expecting something like this for a school in SCUSD, even if it's ranked lowest of the four. Nora walked over to the right bed, claiming it as Whimsicott flew right on top of the bed and fell asleep. Nora smiled and returned him to his respective Pokeball.
"Okay, I think this one should work fine. What do you think?"
"Gard!"
Vicky and her Gardevoir Harmony arrived outside of a dorm, the same one that Morgan had already claimed though the young Coordinator had no way to know that tiny detail as she got a room key and used it to open the door only to be greeted by what appeared to be a young man around her age and a Blaziken who seemed to have already claimed the room.
Immediately Vicky felt nervous as she greeted the pair with a sheepish grin as Harmony gave the Blaziken a curious stare though given she wanted to avoid awkward silence as she cleared her throat before she spoke.
"S-sorry. Didn't see you there. Though this is a nice room. Say...I don't know if co-gender dorms are a thing here but maybe you'd be interested in sharing? I'm eager to room with someone and I promise I won't be too much trouble. Though it is your decision." Vicky said as she unknowingly referred to Morgan as a guy given her "co-gender" comment as she none the less laid her offer on the table and waited for a response while Harmony kept its gaze on the Blaziken.
Morgan was sitting on the bed when she saw a girl and a Gardevoir walk into the room. "Hello" She said as she waved at her with a friendly smile. She then noticed how Vicky began became flustered and heard the comment about co-gendered room. "Co-gendered room?" Morgan said with a confused tone before realizing what the girl meant. "Oh I get it, you must think I'm a boy right? Well I'm actually a girl. Don't worry, most people I meet makes that mistake." She said to the girl in front of her.
Magician noticed the Gardevoir staring at him. He looked around to see if she was actually staring a something in the room before looking back towards her. He slightly tilted his head with a confused expression while pointing to himself.
Immediately when the girl clarified Vicky's misunderstanding she felt a tremendous wave of guilt wash over her as she made such a grievous mistake and quickly worked to backtrack on it.
"O-oh I am sorry! I should not have made an assumption there really I didn't mean any offense." Vicky said in apology to Morgan as she did not want to start her introduction to her on a bad foot.
Harmony glanced at the Blaziken who seemed to point it itself which caused the Fairy type to nod as if to say yes that it was looking at it before it spoke to it with Poke-Speak.
"Gard. Gardevoir?" (Hello. Are you this trainer's partner?)
Platinum was relieved to take notice of the other boy's friendliness - the young man had no idea how he would fair being paired with some stick in the mud.
His roommate introduced himself as Crimson, which caused Platinum to gain a small but enthusiastic smile as he was taken aback. He hadn't met too many people with a unique name of shaded colors as his own. Platinum received good vibes from this brunette, and he figured that even though they were technically competition, he would hopefully get along with him quite well.
Happy that the opportunity presented itself, Platinum stood from his bed after settling in... well, in whatever ways someone can 'settle in' without their luggage. Tossing his small drawstring back on to his mattress, the teen stood and began stretching his arms while releasing a small yawn. He couldn't lie, he was admittedly pretty tired, but there was no way he was going to shoot down exploring around his new home for the next couple of years. This place was big and there was a lot of ground to cover - best off becoming familiar with it all alongside a familiar face.
"Yes, lets go for it! I have a bad feeling I'd get lost not too far from the future considering I have no wherewithal." He commented, laughing.
He made sure to bring along a couple Pokeballs, as he knew some of his team were angsty and would often need to stretch. Platinum was sure there would be general areas open to Pokemon roaming around.
Tira awoke in her seat as the auditorium was being what seemed to be evacuation. Everyone was pushing and trying to get out, which sent Tira into a haste to get out as well. Jumping up and rushing to the door, Tira was able to quickly slide her way out of the door. "So, Shade. Dorms?"
The dorm was easier to find than expected. Mainly because the rooms were all posted on a map at the doorway, but that matters not. Tira reached up to Shade, who stole the card along the way to open the door. A quick swipe and the door opened. Inside was 2 major things. One being Bunk beds, the other being another student and a Whimsicot. They both seemed to be relaxing. "Hey, I'm Tira. And I think we might be roommates."
"Don't worry," Crimson reassured his roommate. "I got a map and studied the general directions, we won't get lost. By all means, if I wouldn't even be at the school by now if I didn't have a map." Crimson threw a little joke in there, as an icebreaker for the two to get used to each other. Admittedly, Crimson so far liked Platinum. His name is easy to remember first of all; it was a color based name such as Crimson's himself. Platinum seemed laid back, he doesn't seem too particular with anything. Lastly, Platinum was experienced. Crimson could tell from the lad's posture and he was oozing confidence. He was pretty sure that he saw him on television sometimes as well. Though Crimson was on his Carios journey during that time, it didn't stop him from from watching the Sinnoh Pokemon Contests back home.
Crimson led the two out of the dormitory, walking to wherever Crimson was leading them to, in which the latter doesn't even know himself. They wanted to do some exploring, but they're just walking wherever the flow was taking them to. The duo walked in a comfortable silence, studying the environment of the college. Crimson sees students walking out and about, doing the same on their free school day. Crimson wouldn't mind if the duo met up some new students along the way, maybe socialize and get together. They could be 'the squad.' Crimson laughed to himself in his head by his weird humor.
Both Crimson and Platinum soon found themselves walking along an open flower field with a nice fountain. But, something else caught their eye. Beside the fountain, laid a giant battlefield. White paint outlined the perimeters of the battlefield on the flat stone pathway. An idea came to Crimson's head. Maybe it would give him a chance to learn more about his partner. "Want to have a small contest here?" Crimson suggested. "No battle, just appeal. Me versus you hah."
"Luff!"
That cry echoed from a Shiny Jumpluff as it circled above a young trainers head. The trainer simply replied with a soft groan as he was quickly putting on a pair of roller blades. "I know we're late, just hold on", he had finally finished putting the roller blades on and he stood up. The trainer stood short, the blades not adding much to his height. He had short platinum blonde hair that was gelled up slightly, and he wore a pastel purple, short sleeved shirt and turquoise shorts. This trainer was named Felix Lombard. Felix glanced up at his Jumpluff and smirked playfully, "I'll race you to the academy!" With a gleeful response, trainer and Pokemon dashed off towards MidWay.
He arrived at the academy moments later, after his Jumpluff. He chuckled softly as the Jumpluff celebrated it's victory, but Felix soon realised he was later than he thought. He glanced around after he noticed no one was around. He furrowed his brow before he caught a glimpse of the rest of the student body heading towards the contest hall. He quickly followed suit, taking his roller blades off and returning his Jumpluff once he reached the hall door. He stealthily slipped inside just as Zoey's demonstration began. His eyes lit up immediately at what he saw. He never tired of seeing Contests, it was his one true passion. Disappointment followed once Zoey had finished but he was happy to hear that the day was being treated as a free day. Once all was said and done, Felix left with the masses and headed towards his dorm.
He hated to admit that he got lost going from the Hall to the dorms, so he never would. He grumbled softly to himself as he glanced around, he wasn't sure where his room was, or even who his roommate was. He kept on looking down at his flyer and then at the door numbers. "This is hopeless," he finally said aloud.
Platinum easily fell in love with the location of MidWay. He was in awe of the SCUSD's genius ideas of arranging the schools in comfortable, beautiful scenery in order to catch inspiration and feel at home. The amber blonde followed wherever his new found friend led him, as he was definitely more sure of the directions in which they headed. Soon enough, the two came upon an open field - seemingly calling the name of any trainers nearby as it was perfect for a battle.
Just as Platinum was going to perk up and say something, Crimson beat him to it and suggest an exchange of appeal moves. A tad surprising, but no way was Platinum going to miss the chance of putting his skills on display for people to see. There was a chance that those nearby would probably study the two or see them as showing off, but in the naive mind of the young sinnoh resident, it would be beneficial to exhibit what he had to offer to the Academy and wouldn't be passive... sort of like the jungle kingdom assert-your-dominance type thing. Usually Platinum wouldn't act on such Type A nonsense, but this was a new setting with new people who would be fighting to accomplish the same dreams he had, so that means when opportunities presented themselves, he'd have to take them.
Plus it would simply be fun.
"Sure! Lets see what you got!" Platinum replied in a comedically-competitive voice.
He smiled, knowing that he was wise to bring along some of his pokeballs. Picking one of them into his hands, he enlarged and held it out before him - causing a jittery small flying squirrel Pokemon to protrude into the open space. The Emolga zipped around the air before landing on Platinum's shoulders.
"This little guy has helped me with quite a few contests, and he definitely is always up for a good competition." He said, chuckling at the impish Pokemon beginning to tug at its trainer's hair.
Osmio walked across the halls, already having dropped his stuff off in his dormitory. The time they had till classes would start felt as though they'd be long and exhausting. In reality, he just wanted to get the school year over with, but this morning had already been one of the longest ever. He wasn't too eager to socialize with his classmates, though a part of him would have liked to be approached.
Though he noticed two boys getting ready for a practice contest- in a way, this could be fun. He could learn about his classmates without having to talk to them. He leaned up against the side of a tree near the field and let Picar out to watch the fight as well. Picar always wanted to watch contests, no matter where they were, but his size made Osmio have to get an extra ticket for him to watch, so he usually wouldn't get to see anything outside of performing himself.
Crimson watched in adoration of the little electric rodent atop of Platinum's shoulder. The Emolga was adorable with it's small a petite figure. The Pokemon's eccentric persona livened the surround area, brightening their day almost. The Sky Squirrels cute attics were too much for Crimson to handle. He couldn't help but coo at the Pokemon's cuteness. Crimson could definitely see that Platinum had raised the Emolga well.
Crimson himself popped a Pokeball off his bag and released the Grass and Fairy typed pocket monster within. Within the confinements of the ball, appeared a cactus like Pokemon. It's body was color coordinated with a pastel pink, vibrant emerald, and a sunny yellow. The Pokemon stood tall, but only reaching up to Crimson's shoulders at maximum height. The Pokemon contained no legs, but for movement capabilities, the Pokemon bounced upon it's petal-like tail which kept hidden a a thorn abdomen. It's upper body was spiked and it's frail arms flailed about. Upon the creature's head was a giant pink flower, almost resembling a lotus of some sort. It's ears looked like leaves, almost doubled in length of the Pokemon's arms. (IMG)
"Thamilia been with me for a while now, won contests here and there with her as well," Crimson exclaimed, introducing his Pokemon to his roommate and possibly the Emolga if it was interested. Thamilia gave a cheer, yelling out it's name in a joyous content of being free from it's Pokeball. The Thistle Pokemon jumped around it's trainer, expressing it's excitement. Crimson made sure to keep an eye on Thamila, ensuring that it doesn't go around hugging people with it's prickly body structure.
"We'll go first I guess," Crimson claimed. He made his way towards the field, keeping distance between himself and the audience, also known as Platinum and Emolga. Thamilia tailed it's trainer and stopped right in front of him, as if it already knew it was going to be performing for a bit. Taking it's stance, Crimson started off a small routine for Thamilia.
"Thamilia, start with Enerrgy Ball, rapid fire." On cue, the cactus like Pokemon absorbed energy between it's palms and threw them into the air. Three emerald sphere hung in the air, cackling alive with energy as the spun around each other in a counterclockwise motion. "Use Pin Missile!" Immediately reacting to the trainers beck-and-call, Thamilia's body, more specifically, the spikes on it's body began glowing a white hue before each letting out a streak of white light. Each streak came closer to the trio of Energy Balls in a zigzag motion, crossing over each other, almost resembling like a lightning strike of sorts. Upon impact between the Energy Ball and Pin Missile, the Energy Ball exploded, creating light green fireworks along with smaller variation of white fireworks caused from collisions between multiple Pin Missiles. Speckles of green glitter remain from the combination as it drifted down slowly to the ground. But before hitting the ground, Crimson called out another move. "End with Fairy Wind," Crimson exclaimed. The flower on Thamilia's head twitched before letting out a giant gust of pink-tinted wind. The green speckle picked up with the wind, flowing along the air currents of Fairy Wind. Thamilia circulated the motion of the air until blasted one giant gust on either side of itself. The pastel pink tint and forest green glitter descended directly beside and behind the Thistle Pokemon, but not in front of it, displaying the Pokemon as the center of attention.
"And that's that," Crimson said, wit a shy smile. "Don't want to show off too much for the opponent now do we." Crimson gave a small laugh as Thamilia cheered for it's own amazing performance. "It's not much but we're still improving."
Nora saw that a student had walked in the room and from what the girl said, she would be Noras new roommate. She corrected her glasses, put her Whimsicotts Pokeball in one of her pockets and confronted her new roommate.
"Nice to meet you Tira. I'm Nora" She said and gave a small smile. "Just to let you know i took the right bed, but I'm fine with the left one also, if you want to switch." She continued. The braided girl noticed that Tira had a Zorua, which Nora recognized immediately.
"Wow! You have a Zorua!" She exclaimed. "Those are pretty rare, at least in Unova."
Morgan looked at the girl and smiled while waiving her hand around. "Don't worry about it. Like I said, most people I meet make that mistake." She said to reassure the girl. "I'm Morgan."
Magician heard Vicky's Gardevoir's question. "Blaz. (Yes, I am)." He responded.
Vicky felt some relief when Morgan assured her that it was okay and even introduced herself. As Vicky smiled and knew she should do the same; it was only fair and the girl seemed nice.
"I'm Vicky. Nice to meet you, and this is my partner Harmony." Vicky said as she introduced herself and her Gardevoir Harmony who gave both Morgan and her Blaziken a respectful bow.
"Gard." (A pleasure.)
"Oh my god," Platinum spoke in pure amazement as his roommate displayed the first combo. "That was so good, Crimson!"
As Platinum had complimented the brunette, his Emolga happily zipped through the air towards the beautiful thorned Pokemon, embracing its petaly top in an affection greeting.. Platinum had to admit that Thamilia was one of the most unique and cute Pokemon he had ever seen in person. He had no idea where the flower-like creature originated from, and unfortunately he had left his Pokédex in his packed luggage.
"If you dont mind me asking, where is Thamilia from?" He asked. If he were to guess, probably somewhere within Hoenn or Kalos, but he wanted to know for sure to satisfy his curiosity.
After giving time for Crimson to respond, Platinum would marvel at Thamilia one more time before realizing its his turn - calling his energetic Pokemon back to him.
"Alright Emolga, lets see how those thunderous heart combo is coming along! Attract and Discharge!"
The white and yellow Pokemon chirped happily before leaping straight upwards into the air, spinning like a pin needle.
"'Molga!" It cheered as it gave a charming wink in mid air, summoning several red hearts to float about.
Blue electricity then began charging up around the circles in his cheeks - seconds later the mass amount of lighting shot out from its body horizontally. The lighting dazzled around the hearts, coating them with bright jolts of energy. It definitely lightened up the surrounding area, each of the Discharge decorated hearts emitting a fierce blue light.
"Now Airslash!" Platinum called.
Emolga once more called its own name before spreading its own gliding wings and waving them in several different directions. Quick blades of air were launched forwards at each of the floating hearts, slicing the static charms open. That in turn caused even more zaps of lighting to catapult upwards with pink rays moving alongside them. A basic blow-up-a-move-with-another-move technique, but they were just having fun at this point so Platinum figured why not. Emolga flew downwards with a delightful smile amidst all of the sparkles and hot pink remains.
As the remaining fizzles of electricity faded, the Sky Squirrel was left standing with its tiny arms spread open in joy.
Platinum let out a light laugh.
"It even surprises me how he manages to always add his own little style into his performances. I hope you liked it!"
Crimson scratched the back of his head, a bit embarrassed by the praise. He knew that he does well in contests, but having actually receiving a compliment for his hard work flustered the latter.
Thamilia, on the other hand, was greeting back the Sky Squirrel Pokemon. The Thistle Pokemon, not capable of reaching upwards to the Electric/Flying atop her head, called out it’s own name in delight of the affection. Thamilia loved affection, even if it’s prickly body type was in the way of her love.
The coordinator picked up on his roommates question on where his Thamilia came from. “Ah yes,” Crimson began. “I caught Thamilia within the Carios Region. It a region far south from Unova full of sand and hot air.” Crimson paused a little, remembering much more of his journey in Carios. “Caught Thamilia when it was a little Thodle. And it’s been one of my first Pokemon ever since.” Crimson smiled with the memory, remembering it like it was yesterday.
Soon enough, after the exchange between the duo, Platinum and his Emolga started off their appeal. The beautiful nature scenery quickly changed to a ‘shocking’ performance, literally. The Emolga displayed it’s cuteness overload through the display of Attract, Discharge, and Airslash.
“Oh my god,” Crimson stated, ironically repeating the same phrase Platinum had spoke to him moments prior. “That. Was. Amazing!” Crimson claimed, his voice oozing with awe at the coordinator’s performance. Thamilia, reciprocating the Sky Squirrel’s actions, came up to the squirrel and screeched in delight.
The pair of trainer and Pokemon talked amongst themselves till it soon turned night. The pair got along well and so did their Pokemon as they conversed through the night away.
—Time Skip: 1 Week—
“Time’s up class,” Miss Keira announced to the class. It was currently almost the end of 7th period, approximately 10 minutes before the bell would ring, signally the class would end by then.
Pokemon Coordinating Class was the most enjoyable class by far for Crimson. The returned his Pokemon back to their respective Pokeball, as the class period was used to train the coordinator’s Pokemon for any future contests the students would want to partake in.
Everyone cleaned up quickly and efficiently. Some more so than others, but as long as things are organized. Miss Kiera asked the class to clean up about 10 minutes early, as she has an announcement to make.
“Some if you may have heard already, some of you may have not. I’m here to confirm some of your suspicions. Midway Academy has decided, that we will be holding a contest for all freshman. This is mainly going to be a contest where students are testing each other’s skill level. The judges for the appeal...is going to be your peers and general public. Everyone that is not partaking in the contest is able to vote on their favorite. It is tier rank based on how the public sees your performance. The top three winners wins the opportunity of having a one on one tutor with a top coordinator. However, the ultimate first place also gets the addition of winning a ribbon. These ribbons are important for the school field trip. Every student that has at least 1 ribbon is to participate a school field trip to another Pokemon region. All freshmen aren’t forced to participate, this is fully voluntary. But ONLY freshmen is allowed to participate.”
Lots of murmurs and whispers went throughout the class. Miss Kiera had to raise her voice for the message to get through the classroom. “Anyways,” Miss Kiera began again and the class volume died down. “I hope you all consider joining, this is a good opportunity to improve in or skills and partake in the contest.” With the ending note, the last school bell rang, ending the school day. Students rushed out of the classroom while some slowly made their way out.
Crimson was slowly taking in the information still. He was definitely going to join the contest. However, the part holding him back was the popularity vote. What if he was really bad and was one of the lowest scores. Hopefully the school took that to consideration and maybe only display the winning votes. Crimson was still doubting though.
Nora sighted as the teacher said that the time was up. Coordinating class was one of her favorite classes in the school only being a close second to Lunch (if you counted it as a class). She returned her Pokemon to their Pokeballs and took part in cleaning the classroom. The black haired girl thought that it was kinda odd how Miss Kiera asked them to clean up 10 minutes early than usually, but when Nora heard the announcement, she lit up immediately when she heard it.
A lot of thoughts were going through young coordinator. She was definitely going to take part of it , but she hasn't taken part of any contest or preformed in anyway after the Grand Festival in Unova. She had to train a bit to get the hang of everything again, but she has, both gotten some new tips and repetition. Thanks to the classes in Midway Academy.
She took a note from the part where Miss Kiera told about the field trips to other regions and walked out from the room. Nora noticed a male student with brown hair and confronted him.
"Hey. It was Crimson, Right?" Nora started with a shy smile on her face. She had been trying to memorize her classmates names, but only one she could clearly remember was her roommates.
"Are you going to take part in the contest?" Asked the braided girl.
Already out the door, Crimson was still packing; one arm hanging onto the bottom of his satchel while the other was doing it’s best to get a binder to smoothest fit in. Apparently, it wasn’t a smooth fit. Crimson stopped his struggles hearing his name mentioned. The brunette looked up facing a female with her midnight black hair tied into a messy braid. Seeing she was asking directly to Crimson, he answered her.
“Uh yeah that’s me,” Crimson started off awkwardly. It usually was tense to hold a decent conversation with an unknown persona after all. He’s seen her around classes before. Not even around classes, he saw her in practically all his classes. In fact, he’s seen many of the faces in all his classes. Weird for the school to place the same students which the same exact class schedule.
“Yeah,” the brunette continued the conversation. “I’m definitely planning to join that contest. I mean, there isn’t much to lose right?” Crimson was beginning to ease up, evident with his extended sentences. Though he was still tense. And ironic of how he mention there was ‘nothing much to lose’ like he wasn’t just panicking a couple minutes ago.
Finally fixing his satchel, Crimson dusted off whatever dirt there may be on his Pokeball-designed hoodie to allow himself to look presentable at least. “Nora correct,” Crimson asked the female’s name. Crimson generally remembers names quickly, but asking prior from the person themselves doesn’t hurt. “Are you considering to participate in the contest as well?”
Nora was glad that it was the right student. There have been times where she have said some students name to a completely different person, so it was a relief that she got it right this time. She nodded verify that Crimson got her name right.
"Absolutely," Nora answered. "Oh and do you know where to si-" she was suddenly cut of, because one of her Pokeballs popped open and revealed one of her Pokemon, Mienfoo. The Martials Arts Pokemon stood between Nora and Crimson, her arms crossed. The Mienfoo was usually very over protective towards her trainer, usually with boys or people that don't look like they can be trusted. This time Nora didn't know which reason it was this time.
Morgan packed her things and walked out of the classroom. "A contest for freshmen huh. Sounds fun, I'll probably enter." She said to herself. "The prizes for the winners are also pretty sweet, a one on one tutoring session with a top coordinator will definitely help with my routines." She thought.
