Private/Closed The First Annual Solaurea City World Tournament! (RP)

Finion’s shoulders slouched as saw the Tangrowth substituting for a Camerupt. He returned Hop to her Pokeball, pressing it against his forehead and sighing a little. “You did great Hop, don’t worry about it okay” The Pokeball was put back into his pocket.
To say he was disheartened would be an understatement. Half his team were already out whilst Loki still had five ready to battle. The only one he had fainted was that Ampharos and it hadn’t felt earned at all, the thing was scared and not listening to commands properly.
He began to panic a little, doubting himself as his breathing picked up. Was he a joke? Was this easy for Loki? Would the crowd even remember him? Was he even a challenge? His thoughts swiftly spiralled into a negative pit whilst his emotions became unsettled. He looked across the pitch in fear. Two of his Pokemon were weak to Camerupt and he wanted to save Garfield for the final stretch, which seemed like it would be more than half of Loki’s team at this point.
Finion felt a fluffy tail brush against his leg. It was Sparky his Pachirisu, looking up to him with a trusting smile and a nod of assurance. The small little electric squirrel gave him just enough confidence.
Once again he forgot about the crowd, focusing on his opponent ahead of him. He’d saved three great Pokemon for last. Sparky had been with him since the start of his journey, Coconut no doubt wanted to avenge her fainted friends and Garfield- he was a beast, he could totally take down three Pokemon in a row, maybe even more! Confidence flowed through him but he was still thoughtful ...
Camerupt was slow but powerful, any attack from the fire/ground type would do a ton of damage to any of his Pokemon. He had a plan, a very risky one but one nevertheless.
“Alright Coconut, it’s time to fly!” Finion took out another Pokeball, throwing it into the air this time. It opened midair and out flew a shiny Tropius. Her wings were spread as she glided around the arena, staying close to the audience to temporarily show off her unique and vibrant colours. She returned to flying over the battlefield, never once stopping. “You gotta trust me Coconut Alright!” The grass/flying type let out a call of agreement as she gracefully flew above the camerupt before doing a sharp turn. “Sunny day!” It was dangerous. The weather condition would boost the Camerupt’s fire attacks but it would also boost Coconut’s speed. The shiny summoned the sun, harsh rays of light flooding the stadium. With a flap of her wings she doubled in speed, weaving, dipping and harshly turning in the air to once again show off, displaying her agility this time instead of her colours.
Coconut’s beautiful display of speed and agility caused Finion smile, looking across the pitch at Loki with a look on his face, one of confidence.

Toby managed to arrive at the toilet of the stadium with his suitcase. He entered the toilet stalls and started to change his clothes. "Really should've gotten myself a room in an hotel, but I don't want to miss this match." He replaced his torn pants with a leather pair and took off his trenchcoat, it was troublesome to wear in a stadium anyway. He returned to the arena of the stadium and took a different seat than before, next to a boy wearing a black zip-up hoodie and camo cargo pants, as well as a black bandana. The biggest oddity was the Bisharp sitting next to him though, and Toby silently approved of such a strong Pokémon.

He didn't expect much from the fight, but the fact that both the Politoed and Tangrowth were replaced by a Camerupt and a Shiny Tropius of all things meant that the Tropius user might have succeeded in taking one of his opponent's Pokémon down. And if he knew anything about battling, then there was a comeback in the making. There has to be a reason for that Tropius to face a Camerupt, this couldn't just be a desperate action. He stood up and did something he never even dreamt of doing, he began to cheer. "Kick his ass Tropius!" He didn't care about his reputation that he established in the Pokécenter, he was too caught up in this fight now. Not only did someone use a Shiny Pokémon, one of the rarest Pokémon in existence, he was getting excited about a fight that didn't include him.

This feeling, just like when I was a kid! Yes! This is the rush I wanted, the kind of rush that didn't stem from the desire to win. This rush is much better, the rush of seeing others succeed and knowing you might face them yourself! Toby's face beamed from amusement, and he began to cheer again. "I know you can do it, that Tropius of yours is with you and facing that Camerupt for a reason!"

Wolf was focussed on the spectacle on the battlefield. Even though Loki had the momentum in his favour, Finion had proven to be a capable battler who might just have a card up his sleeve. Especially after sending out a Tropius that used Sunny Day, a move that benefitted Loki's Camerupt more than Finion's Tropius, Wolf was sure that he had some sort of strategy in mind.

From the corner of his eye Wolf noticed a trainer approaching the seat next to him. He scooted over a little, not taking his eyes of the battle in front of him, until the new trainer made his presence clear by cheering for Finion rather enthusiastically. Wolf glanced over at the trainer, whose face appeared quite familiar.

"You seem to be enjoying yourself." Wolf chuckled at the trainer, picking up conversation with him. "I'm Wolf. Wolf August. I'm actually participating in the tournament too." He introduced himself, holding out his hand for a friendly handshake. It was only when the trainer locked eyes with Wolf that he knew who it was. The guy from the Pokécenter with the Hydreigon. Gulp.

Loki heard the crowds cheering, for Finion. Did no one want him to win? What if he did, would no one like him? Do they know Finion's other Pokémon would beat them? He was locked in a position, not moving a single bit. He shook his head, then took off his chullo, and wrapped it around his neck. "Go! Vesuvius, use Sandstorm!", he said. The change in the weather went on Loki's side as Vesuvius knows Smack Down. "Smack Down, let's go!", he commanded.

Finion heard his name being called from the crowd and froze for a moment, turning to try and find whoever said it. He spotted Alice cheering for him, he spotted others supporting him and Tropius as well. It was ... nice, it filled him with a warm feeling and boosted all the good emotions flowing through him. Confidence filled his voice as he called out to his Tropius. “Coconut solar beam!” The shiny reared back its neck, energy forming in its mouth and then shooting out towards the Camerupt.
The sandstorm came as a shock to both Finion and his Pokemon, it kicking up after Coconut had fired her solar beam. She was almost knocked out of the sky by the sudden flurry of sand but she managed to stay in the air, significantly slowed now that her ability chlorophyll wasn’t active . “Ngh!” Finion hastily moved his goggles over his eyes to protect them from the storm, frowning as he tried to find his tropius in the sand. “Not good” He needed the sun, but if he kept using sunny day they could just counter with sandstorm. “Barrel roll!” The shiny Tropius threw herself to the left and span in the air, dodging the smack down and then making her way back over to Finion. She landed and he quickly returned her, Coconut disappearing into the Pokeball. So much for that strategy ... Loki seemed to have a counter no matter what he did. Each carefully constructed plan crumbled to pieces in seconds.
“... Alright, you got your wish” Finion wasn’t talking to Loki, he was talking to the great ball now in his hand. “Garfield, go ham” He clicked the button and released the Pokemon within it. A Garchomp erupted from the white light, forming on the battlefield and letting out a powerful rage filled roar. He seemed to give of an aura of intense strength with a purely intimidating look. This was Finion’s last resort, his trump card, his most powerful Pokemon. It rarely listened to a word he said but it wasn’t an idiot and could fight on its own ... which is exactly what it went to do.
It charged straight through the sand storm, unaffected by the weather. In a few seconds it was upon the Camerupt, it’s claw raised in the air surrounded by a blue energy which it brought down on the ground type. It was dragon claw and Garfield repeatedly used it against Vesuvius, a constant barrage.

Vesuvius didn't have much to react before Garfield hit her with Dragon Claw, making her roll into Loki, and into the side of the stadium. "Wh-what?", Loki stuttered. "Vesuvius... you did a good 5 minutes...", he bit his lip, then switched her out. Permafrost, who was at the position Loki was at, was getting anxious. Though the Garchomp would be 4x weak to her, he didn't want to risk Flamethrower or a Fighting type move coming off from that Pokémon. "No... we wouldn't want to risk it...", Loki reminded Permafrost. He got up, then held the Heavy Ball he'd held before. "Valdivia", he threw out the Heavy Ball," Come on out!" Instead of light coming out, sand did, as the Gigalith's ability was Sand Stream. The Gigalith, who was shiny, roared at the Garchomp, then stomped on the ground, sending a wave of sand flying.

That ... surprised Finion. One hit? He looked to Garfield with a shocked expression. The sand shark started pacing around in the storm, snarling and growling at Loki and waiting for him to unleash his next Pokemon.
“Whoa” Finion immediately recognised Valdivia as a powerful Pokemon, one that Garfield couldn’t beat through brute force alone. The thick wave of sand sent out by the shiny was enough to push Finion’s Garchomp back towards him but not hurt the dragon at all. “Garfield you gotta listen to me alright, trust me” Finion was met with an angry glare but one that was almost understanding.
The playing field was even. Sand storm helped both these Pokemon and they were both fresh from the ball. This would hopefully be fun. “Garfield use a stone edge then slam it with a dragon tail!” He did as instructed, stomping a foot onto the ground and sending a row of rocks jutting out the ground towards the Gigilath. The precise attack was probably easy to dodge but what happened next wasn’t. Garfield slammed his lit up tail into the pillars of stone, causing them to fragment and fly across the pitch. Valdivia would be met with a wave of rocks flying across the pitch.

"Oh no... uh...", Loki muttered," What do I do?" Loki looked like he had no control over Valdivia -- which he usually did. Maybe it was stage fright? Imaginary audience? Valdivia charged through the stones, like it was nothing. Because it was a shiny, Valdivia's gems were very bright, making Loki squint. It made them even brighter when it charged to use Giga Impact, which made such a huge impact, it created a dust devil. "Oh lord...", Loki mumbled," This was a bad idea..."

“Counter with a Dragon rush!” The Garchomp hopped back into the air, blue and purple fiery energy surrounding the sand shark and taking the form of a dragon. It collided with the giga impact, protecting Garfield from it but not being able to damage Valdivia.
Thanks to Finion’s goggles he wasn’t having any trouble seeing through the sand storm or at the shiny Gigilath. He quickly assessed the situation, figuring out that both Pokemon were to heavy to be lifted by the newly formed sand whirl wind.
Finion was about to give Garfield another command only to see the Pokemon deciding what to do itself. The Garchomp had closed the distance between him and Valdivia, reaching to grab each side of the rock type with its claws. If Garfield managed to grab onto Valdivia, he would begin to use iron head, repeatedly headbutting the Gigilath with the move and gripping onto the rock type so it wouldn't fly back.
"Get outta there Gar!" Finion spotted the danger with what Garfield was doing, being that close to a Gigilath was never good.

Loki paced around, not able to control Valdivia one bit. "Iron Defense - then Head Smash!", he commanded. When it used Iron Defense, the Iron melted around the Garchomp's claws, making it stuck. "Now!" The Gigalith tucked in it's head, sucking in some of the sand around it. Loki was surprised that he actually obeyed him, even grinning.

"Garfield get outta there" Finion called out to his Pokemon now trapped right by the Gigalith. The iron head didn't seem to be doing much to the Gigalith but Sand shark continued to the attack until the Valdivia counterattacked. Garfield was hit straight in the head by Valdivia's headsmash, the dragon type becoming limp as it's head flopped back. "Garfield?!" There was worry in Finion's voice but it quickly changed.
The Garchomp tensed up, leaning forwards and glaring at the Gigalith it was stuck too. It spat out a tooth that was knocked loose by the head smash and growled. He. was. angry. His claws began to glow with a pure white energy, Garfield using the move brick break to tear through the iron defense and free himself of the Gigalith's grasp. Despite his freedom he stayed close to the rock type pokemon, repeatedly whacking it with brick break in a fit of rage.

Valdivia was pestered by the Brick Break, slowly chipping away at it's HP. Without Loki's word, it used Earthquake, not targeting the Garchomp, but to move it at a far range. "Now... Use Rock Slide!", Loki ordered. The Gigalith refused to listen, and used Giga Impact instead. "Will you stop being so stubborn?", Loki growled. Valdivia charged at the Garchomp, enveloped in a white force.

The Garchomp swiped at the Gigalith only to see it move away from out of his reach. It let out a roar in frustration and then began to charge at it like a bull, using Iron Head to counter the Giga Impact. "Garfield don't!" The two moves connected and Garfield found himself overpowered by the Giga Impact, the move knocking him back and sending him tumbling across the pitch, damaged. Finion huffed a little, frustrated and annoyed with his equally as stubborn Pokemon. "Garfield you listen here-!" The Garchomp turned to face Finion and growl at him but the trainers response was quick and harsh. "Don't you growl at me you big oaf! I am your damn trainer and you will listen to me if you want a chance at beating that Gigalith. If you wanna get beaten by a pile of rocks fine by me!"
Garfield was shocked by his trainers outburst, looking at the small redhead boy in shock before grumbling and turning back around. It's anger had dissipated due to the giga impact and Finion's words. Garfield was complying and so Finion commanded "Alright" His voice was stern but calm as he looked across the pitch at the Gigalith. "Bait him into another Giga impact"
The Garchomp spread out its arms, walking forwards and roaring at the Gigalith in an attempt to get it to charge again.

"Valdivia...", Loki said," Don't fall for it!" Valdivia snorted at him. "I don't give a jumping Magikarp what you think!", Loki, who acted like Finion just recently, covered his mouth, afraid of Valdivia. "Wait... actually, yes I did mean that!", Loki didn't know what he was doing, and before he knew it, he was riding Valdivia like his Ponyta. "Easy... easy...". he horse whispered. Valdivia felt calm, listening to Loki clearly. "Yeah!", Loki cheered," Now, use Rock Slide!" Soon, piles of Rocks came from the sky, landing everywhere on the battlefield.

Finion gave Loki time to calm his Pokemon but was rather surprised to see the trainer actually ride his Gigalith which honestly made Finion a little bit conflicted on whether he could attack the Pokemon or not. "Dragon claw them" Once again Garfield's claws were enveloped with blue energy, the dragon type slicing any rocks that came close to it whilst making his way across the pitch. "Go for the dragon slide!" With his claws still lit up Garfield began to charge towards the Gigalith, seemingly for a head on collision. However at the last second he dodged left, using the move dragon tail and swinging it against the Gigalith whilst he did so.

Loki and Valdivia didn't see the attack coming, and it hit Valdivia in the side. "Use Heavy Slam", he said, rather calmly. In sync, it charged into the Garchomp, making it's body heavier and harder than before. Even though Loki's legs were in pain, he only wanted to help Valdivia improve. "We're doing just fine...", he said to Valdivia.

Was Loki still on the Gigalith? Did he know how dangerous that was? The heavy slam came as a surprise to Finion, the trainer temporarily worrying but trusting in his Pokemon’s ability. “Block it!”
The Garchomp protected it’s hands with dragon claw and then reached out towards the Gigilath, holding back the opposing Pokemon and the heavy slam. For a second his leg shook a little bit the sand shark stood strong, holding back the attack with a roar of fury. “Throw it to the side!”
Garfield stepped to the left whilst throwing Gigalith to the right, trying to throw him into the ground but probably not managing to succeed it.
A strategy was forming in Finion’s head. Stick close and side step the Gigalith, chipping away it’s damage whilst doing so. The rock type was impressively fast but Garfield was quicker and he was going to use that. “Brick break and stick behind him!” The Garchomp jumped over the Gigalith, landing behind Valdivia and beginning to hack away it with brick break, attempting to always stay behind the rock type.

"I am, surprisingly so. This tournament just might allow me to go all out, the trainers are capable enough to put up a fight." Toby smirked before turning around to shake Wolf's hand. "Toby Taylor, participant in this tournament. Didn't we meet before?" He turned his attention back to the match in front of him, the Tropius and Camerupt were replaced with a Garchomp and a Shiny Gigalith. It took less than a second for Toby to grin, Dragon types were always fun to watch and by the looks of it this one also had issues listening to its trainer. "Odd, isn't it? Every Dragon type I've seen so far has issues with their obediance, maybe it's just in their nature. Two Dragon types facing each other, now that would be a match to watch."

"Oh no...", Loki muttered under his breath," Here, take this!" He attached the Gigalith's very own Focus Sash around it's neck, then jumped off to where Permafrost was. "You got this, use SelfDestruct!", Loki yelled. He didn't know if that would work with SelfDestruct, so he started to worry when Valdivia turned white and exploded. He looked to see Valdivia, on the ground, fainted. Loki wished he'd spent more time training it, but that Garchomp didn't seem to go away... He walked next to Valdivia, put it's Heavy Ball on it, and subsided it. Another thing that subsided was the Sandstorm... He angrily muttered back to where the trainers were supposed to be. Permafrost flat out bit him, to hyped to stay by Loki. "Okay, okay...", he pointed at the battlefield," Permafrost, let's go!!!" The Alolan Sandslash ran out on the battlefield, running around with tons and tons of energy. He didn't see if the Garchomp had fainted or not, though, and looked at Finion's face to tell.

Riley quietly watched the match. It was surely... interesting. The trainers kept switching their Pokémon, which made Riley raise an eyebrow. As the Garchomp and the Gigalith on the field and started attacking each other, she began to whisper to herself. "It's funny how both of them have Pokémon who won't listen to them." Then both of their trainers yelled at their Pokémon, which made her eyes go wide. "Hey, don't yell at them. They might not listen to you, but they're still Pokémon..." She thought sadly. When Loki got on the Gigalith, Riley whisperd shocked "What?! Is he completely insane?! That might break all of your bones, genius!" Then, Loki ordered Valdivia to use Self-Destruct. As the smoke cleared and the fainted Gigalith could be seen, she face-palmed and shook her head.

From one shiny Pokémon to another, Wolf couldn't help but be amazed at the Pokémon that both trainers had sent out so far. He grinned at the idea of him also having a shiny Pokémon, that being Arthas the Aegislash.

"I don't think we have, no." Wolf lied, shaking Toby's hand. Even though he could have guessed it, based on the fact that Toby had an Hydreigon, Wolf was still surprised to learn he would be participating in the tournament himself.

The comment about Dragon-types facing each other did leave Wolf with a smudge of hope. Now who wouldn't want to see my Haxorus against his Hydreigon. Two of Unova's strongest Pokémon giving it their all on the battlefield. The thought left Wolf with a wide smirk as the match between Finion and Loki raged on.

Garfield was doing rather well with his attacks and it was nice to have the Pokemon listening to him for once. Finion didn’t let this distract him however and he was still watching Loki and his Pokemon carefully. “Garfield get outta there!” The Garchomp noticed the Gigalith preparing to explode, hopping backwards across the pitch and putting some distance between him and the now glowing rock type. “Brace yourself Garf!” The sand shark acted on its own before the explosion spread across the pitch. It stopped its foot on the ground to use stone edge, the large rocks jutting out the ground in front of him. The Garchomp put the rocks between the explosion and himself but everything on the pitch was enveloped in the blast.
Finion looked out onto the clear pitch, the sandstorm having been blown away by the self destruct. Garfield lay on the ground, a few rocks over the fallen dragon who was motionless. He was about to return the Pokemon into its ball only for it to let out a growl in response. The Garchomp steadily rose to its feet, heavily bruised but standing. Finion was shocked to say the least, looking to the Pseudo legendary with his mouth agape. “Garfield?” The dragon/earth type was glaring down the Alolan Sandslash, taking deep lungfuls of air and then moving to charge at the smaller Pokemon.
Finion returned Garfield to his Pokeball, breathing a sigh of relief. There was a honestly happy smile on his face. The playing field was relatively even, as they both had three Pokemon left on their team but Loki still had yet to reveal his last Pokemon. He’d returned Garfield due to how tired the Pokemon was getting. A short break would hopefully be enough to regenerate the Garchomp’s stamina. In the mean time ... since Loki had used his companion Pokemon so would he. “Sparky” There was no response. Finion looked down to see his Pachirisu asleep, curled up into a fluffy ball by his feet. “Sp-... sparky c’mon” He knelt down to give the Ele-squirrel a little rub. Sparky was quite groggy upon his awakening but he was soon filled with excitement, dashing onto the pitch with a confident, cocky and happy grin on his features. “This should be interesting, start it off with a thunderbolt!” The Pachirisu tensed it’s body, producing a bolt of lightning that shot across the pitch towards Permafrost.

Loki smiled at the surprising match -- Starter vs. Starter -- what a coincidence. "Dodge it!", he said. The Alolan Sandslash was lean and was able to avoid it. "Now, use Hail!", suddenly, hail occurred over the battlefield, hurting everything except Ice Types. It's Ability, Slush Rush, gave it a boost in Speed, and Permafrost ran left to right, showing off her amazing display. What should his next move be? Should he set up with Aurora Veil or start to attack? The Sandslash was getting irritated at Loki's cautious decision making.

Sparky looked up to the sky as the hail began to fall, the little specs of ice hitting and getting caught in his fur. His ears pressed against his head as he shivered slightly. Finion was beginning to feel just as cold, his eyes narrowing a little as he looked around the battlefield. “Spark lets try this out whilst you still have all your energy” Alright it was time to test out his Pachirisu’s training. “Super fang army!” The electric types front two teeth grew larger, surrounded by a pure white energy. As the little squirrel ran across the pitch he used double team, again and again until a group of around 100 Pachirisu’s were running towards the Alolan Sandslash. It was quite a cute yet intimidating sight however only one of them was real and some of the clones were already disappearing due to the hail.

Previously SwiftSwoobat
When the Pachirisu used Super Fang, all of the other clones were gone, and due to Steel and Ice resisting Normal, it barely did a thing. "Aurora Veil!", Loki commanded. It made sense to use it now then later. A veil of ice circled around Permafrost, which started restoring health. "Now, Hail Spear!', he said, unleashing a combo move. Permafrost summoned icicles at the Pachirisu. The Hail landed on the icicles, making them have extra edges, which would do even more damage.

The Pachirisu hopped away after it had used super fang, the clones having all disappeared as well. “Iron tail defence!” Finion quickly commanded Sparky to protect himself, the Pachirisu attempting to whack the icicles away with it’s now metallic tail. It managed to knock away a few but one icicle got through, hitting the Pachirisu and doing a good chunk of damage.
The elesquirrel let out a little cry, tumbling backwards but hastily getting back onto his feet. The hail dealt some minor damage, Sparky shivering once again. Finion looked up to the sky, knowing he had to do something about that hail. He could tell it was boosting Permafrost’s speed. “Quick attack and then slow it down” The Pachirisu nodded, shaking the hail out of its fur and then dashing forwards with immense speed. He jumped onto the Sandslash and then bounced off it, sending a thunder wave in the ice steel types direction whilst in the air. After his attempt to paralyse Permafrost he landed, the hail ruffling through Sparky’s fur

"Hm...", Loki didn't like the paralysis," Come here, Perma'" He crouched down, with a Cheri Berry in his left hand. Permafrost walked to Loki and gobbled down, Cheri Berries are her favourite. Suddenly, she recovered, glaring at the Pachirisu. "That's it", he complimented," Use Swift!" The Sandslash shot white stars from it's claws, firing directly at Sparky.

Toby smirked as he watched Sparky's attempt to beat Permafrost. "Y'know, even though I am cheering for him I don't think that this little rodent will last long. Sure, the thing is fast but that's all it really has going for it. It's sad to watch this struggle, but that Pachirisu is atleast putting up a fight. Iron Tail as a defensive move and a combo of Double Team and Super Fang, not something you see on a regular basis. But I don't think that it will be enough to beat that Sandslash, a Fighting or Fire move would really help him right now."

Last edited:
Wolf nodded in agreement with Toby's analysis of the battle. Sandslash's type resistances were just too much, and even a neutral Iron Tail wouldn't damage Permafrost much. Finion's strategies were well-thought, but just not effective enough.

"Finion's Infernape would've been perfect in this situation. I don't believe Pachirisu has that strength." Wolf commented on the match. "Unless.. Sandslash has a notoriously low Special Defense, which Pachirisu can take advantage of."

"An Infernape? That would be an amazing Pokémon to use, why isn't he? Even if it only uses physical moves, it will still put a severe dent in that Sandslash." Toby frowned, why didn't this Finion use that Infernape and instead rolled with that Pachirisu? "That is true, a Thunderbolt or Discharge can do some decent damage with a chance of paralysis. The question is if that Pachirisu can stick around long enough for Finion to realise that. I swear, this better not be a way to try and prove the worth of that thing. Risking a loss for self-fulfillment is not something you should do, especially not in a situation like this."

Dammit, okay paralysis wasn’t going to work. He needed to just flat out beat Loki. “Swift him straight back Sparky!” The Pachirisu raised its paws in the air, white stars forming around him and then flying to intercept the opposing swift. Finion smiled, glad he had intercepted the attack but as he saw Sparky once again lightly battered by the hail he sighed a little. It was once again the battle of attrition but at least he had a plan ... or at least a concept.
“This is a long shot but use thunder on the clouds” Sparky didn’t even question Finion’s decision, standing still and tensing its whole body as it sent the giant electric attack into the sky. “Keep it up!” The Pachirisu kept using thunder on the clouds that were dropping the hail, beginning to make them unsettled and full of energy.

The electrical hail didn't do much, with Permafrost being a Steel type, as well. "Heh...", Loki liked the odds of this match up," Use Ice Beam, stat!" Permafrost created ice inside of it's two claws, then turned it into a beam, trying to hit the Pachirisu. It froze the ground as it was attempting to hit it, so more and more of the battlefield became ice the more it ran.

“Keep it up Sparky” The electrified hail was merely a side affect of what he was trying to do, the Pachirisu continuing to fire the thunder up into the sky. Finally the clouds began to rumble themselves, pumped up with enough electrical charge to begin producing its own. Lightening occasionally struck a random part of the battle field, Finion smiling as his plan began to come into play.
“Don’t let it hit you Sparky!” The Pachirisu nodded in reply, running across the field to move away from the ice beam. The electrified hail wasn’t doing so much damage to Sparky now, it seemed to be giving him more energy. The ele squirrel jumped over the ice beam to run in the other direction, slipping on the ice that was now almost covering the entire pitch. He was scrambling back into his feet though, sliding a little all over the place.

"Well, Finion's Infernape was the first to go down." Wolf replied to Toby, who had seemingly already moved on from the question and was formulating another analysis. He seems to really know his battling. We might be able to put on quite a show if we make it through.

Due to the hailstorm Permafrost had whipped up combined with the thunderstorm that was brewing thanks to Sparky, Wolf zipped up is hoodie a bit higher to protect him from the cold wind that filled the arena.

"A lightning impact combined with a Thunder attack could damage Permafrost more than Loki is anticipating. It might not faint it, but it will most certainly slow it down enough for Finion to capitalise."

"Speed is the biggest advantage that Pachirisu has, those claws can do some serious damage and those spikes cause frostbite to anyone stabbed by them. If he defeats that icy menace, I'll probably lose my mind. It would be very impressive."

Show me your strategies, let me see if I can use them for myself or if I can counter them!

Eventually, the Hail stopped, along with the thunderstorm. "There goes both of our boosts...", he said, as soon as Permafrost stopped using Ice Beam" He wondered what to do for a bit. "That's it!", he remembered," Use Blizzard!" Permafrost summoned a raging blizzard at the Pachirisu. "I'd like to see a Pachirisu get around this...", he scoffed.

Finion looked up in shock as the hail dissipated, his plan not really being viable without the small thunderstorm in play. He was going to use it but not in the way everyone was expecting him too.
Despite the plan no longer being available he didn’t let it get him down, continuing to focus on the battle at hand.
“Hide begins iron tail and dig it into the ice!” The Pachirisu acted quickly in response to the blizzard and the trainer, his tail turning metallic as he whacked it into the ground. The spikes acted like ice picks and when the blizzard raged over him he was battered but not blown away.
Once the move had finished Sparky released his tail from the ice, his breathing heavy and his body bruised. An idea popped into his trainer’s head, Finion noticing the little cracks that iron tail had left in the ice. The field was still covered in ice from Permafrost’s ice beams. He’d use it. “Sparky you still good?” The ele-squirrel gave a quick nod, one of his eyes clamped shut in pain. “Iron tail on the centre of the pitch as hard as you can!” Sparky ran forwards, jumping high into the air and then swinging his iron tail onto the iced over ground as hard as he could. The layer of ice over the ground shattered due to the impact, shards big and small being flung into the air and all across the pitch.
“Discharge now!” Whilst the ice was still in the air the Pachirisu used discharge, the electricity surging outwards from his body. The shattered ice was a good channel for this electricity to travel down, the blue special attack spreading across and covering the pitch, hopping from shard to shard and hopefully catching the Alolan Sandslash in its path. It didn’t last long but it was quick to take place, the move spreading across the pitch as quickly as it disappeared, like a flash.
Finion knew he had to wrap this up quickly, unless Loki used hail again he didn’t really stand much of a chance. He just hoped Loki would value his Sandslashes speed over the unknown but something told him that the enemy trainer wouldn’t be so reckless. Sparky was now standing back in front of Finion, his breathing a lot more steadier as he looked across the pitch to Permafrost.

Permafrost got angry at the Pachirisu for taking advantage of it. "Good", he said," Now, use Ice Ball!" Another one of Loki's combo moves. Permafrost used Ice Beam, creating a path, then used Gyro Ball. The ice was flattened onto the Sandslash, and it started to roll around the battlefield very fast, trying to hit Sparky in the process. "Come on... come on...", Loki muttered, hoping she would hit the Pachirisu.
