Wren was on a mission to get some credit. His father had been famous, and it was hard for him to live up to it. So, he had set out on a boat early this morning, with two other ships going alongside him, carrying his special forces of 2000 musket-men. He was heading to the city of Hjarta to meet with the Commonwealth’s rulers, and discuss some terms for a rather lucrative business deal. He had also sent ahead a messenger to tell them he was coming to speak about a deal.
Meanwhile, much further south, the Barbarian Queen sat on her ornate and ancient throne, when she suddenly began choking. Nobody in her court could figure out what was wrong, and soon enough, she was dead on the ground (you didn’t expect that one, did you?). The Empire of Kiux had once again fallen into chaos. Well, not exactly. Queen Geolia had a young daughter, who was only 7, named Hedra Geolia II. She had inherited the throne. However, being so young, she wasn’t very well-respected by the court. They often offered her their help, and soon enough, she took an offer for help from the 2nd in command of the Army (behind Hedra Geolia I before she died). His name was Puius Derstius, and he was well-known for being far more brutal than even Hedra Geolia I. He had burned many a PoW alive during their war against Il’vhin Gharde, and he had enslaved his own people during the civil war. So, in order to avoid unrest, he hid behind Hedra Geolia II, telling her everything to do, but not officially being Emperor.
Unsurprisingly, “Empress Geolia II’s” first action as empress was to increase the military conscription of peasants to double, making their standing military comprised of 30000 peasant militia and 4000 noble cavalry. Then, “she” ordered that 15000 militia and 2000 cavalry be sent to reoccupy Necromegalopolis from Il’vhin Gharde. The ships were already on their way.
