The Paragons - Act I Discussion

=Nightshade=

Previously Night's Shadow
That’s always fun lol

Hmmm... I mean there are tons of interactions going on in different places; Destiny could notice them and go help, or do something near them and get noticed?

Edit: well with that new info, maybe she could end up near Necrodytis (who may or may not need assistance in rounding up our resident Orphan Squad).

Sorry about that Fox. Though I agree with Comic- Being assertive is a great way to get involved, even if your characters are more passive. Or just putting them out passively in the world like you did with your first post. Heck, have Destiny run into Percival, and instead of him getting to mess with a hero, he's instead tricked into looking bad or something like that. I do apologize for leaving Angel out of the summary though! It was once again late at night (2AM - 3AM) when I was typing it up and I thought I was forgetting someone but wasn't certain or really wanted to go back through reading things.

@BurbleBurble Dude I love this xD
I love your foot notes version of the RP too. I would read through your foot notes of movies
^ I second this. MEGA HELLRAISER ULTRAMAN is absolute perfection and I refuse to address him as anything else during discussion.
I aim to please ;) Glad you all enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. I'll probably keep updating this as we go along since it's a fun way to keep track of plot.

I also need to make that group list too, so once I'm done with my next post that'll be next on the to-do list.

I listed a bunch of inactive characters at the end who simply have never shown up or have stopped interacting at length within the RP. They are listed on the front page, but y'know. A number of them are probably not gonna show up unless the people playing them come back.

Also sorry Comic for posting like a minute after you lol

alright, so.
in case nobody could tell, i'm intentionally keeping Patriot out of fights, using different means. one reason is because, frankly, he'd ultimately win. there's a lot more to Patriot going on than i've revealed in his character sheet and what i've discussed before. and no that does not mean he came from a different planet. he's earthborn to the core, and on top of that, he doesn't have a kryptonite. literally no weaknesses are known for Patriot, which is just one of the many things that makes him so dangerous.
now, looking at it on paper, the only introduced characters that could seemingly stand a chance against Patriot would be Ignizio and Larua. Larua's sheet even states his physical strength is on-par with Patriot.
well, i should address just exactly what that entails.
Patriot, intentionally, holds back. a lot. he fights for fun, not for the sake of anyone, not to save the world. he does purely because he enjoys it. he enjoys it so much because, for him, he's toying with his opponent. he uses a fraction of his power against them, lets them think they might stand a chance, but in the end, with limitless stamina, and seemingly no limit to his abilities, Patriot will always come out on top without even having to go near his fullest potential.
so Larua's strength power equalizes to that of Patriot when he's holding back.
the entire point of Patriot's character is to be, well, the biggest threat that could ever be faced, be it by hero or villain. i've revealed a little too much, but for anybody looking to pick a fight with Patriot, i'd strongly advise you didn't. as he currently has no limits aside from the general rules (the only one actually applying to him in striking strength), he will indefinitely defeat anybody he battles. this is what makes Warren's "superhuman cure" plot thread so important. at the end of the day, this may be the only kryptonite Patriot will ever have to face.
consider him to be... the final boss. after you finally defeat all the villains, overcome all your trials, the man who assisted in that effort, will become the enemy.
so anyway, yeah, that's the direction i'm intending to take Patriot.
tbh, being the roleplayer leader, i could just say 'fuck the rules i made, i can break them', but i'm still gonna do my best to work alongside the rules. so i will set a limit for the striking strength of Patriot. he can't break the world in a single punch, or a hundred, but it's not out of the question he could definitely knock the planet out of orbit of the sun.

The idea with Kage is that the superhuman part of his abilities means he is equal to Patriot's strength in every way. Strength, speed, healing, etc. Except flight, which I got rid of considering Kage has the additional elemental abilities that Patriot doesn't have. Patriot's all out strength and Kage's all out strength are the same. At least, that was the idea when I was writing the bio, but I understand if you have issues with this @comic

well the general idea is that Patriot's strength isn't known. he's never gone to his full potential. at least, not publicly. i will spill the beans that the dude has visited Jupiter before, and got back to Earth before anyone even realized he was gone. however, space travel doesn't necessarily dictate travel when in an oxygen environment with gravity, as inertia is a thing, so Patriot could continue picking up speed to get to Jupiter without having to worry about anything slowing him down.
anyway, for Kage, it's more likely he scales to most of what is known or believed Patriot is capable of. however, with no known limitations, nobody can scale to Patriot. so Kage is equalized in abilities with Patriot's known capabilities. considering the no limits rule i've established for Patriot, nobody can truly scale to him unless you're like, Superman, who apparently has no limits at all according to Death Battle but whatever.

And another thing, since Ignizio is said to have his Blackfire, this made me end up thinking about a number of other abilities granted unto other Heralds. These are just ideas- feel free to ape them, modify them, complain about them. I dunno if I'll actually use any of them in the RP, though a Herald with any of these would be fun I feel.

Whitefrost - The antithesis to Ignizio's Blackfire, the whitefrost is intensely cold- reaching subzero temperatures at conception. The frost remains nearly unbreakable, though eventually will fade to normal ice and melt just as the blackfire fades. Still, anyone captured by it will find themselves becoming frozen solid within seconds from the inside out.
Silverbolt - Yet another Herald was granted the ability of control over electricity. Vicious currents of lightning flow through this herald's body, and they can either temper this outside of their body, or imbue it into their specific fighting styles. Unlike the blackfire and whitefrost this lightning and electricity does not last longer than standard electricity, however considering it rivals and averages the normal lightning average (300 million volts) this isn't really a problem.
World's Pull - The user of the World's Pull has their own personal gravity. This allows them almost complete control over the environment around them. Objects can be pulled towards, pushed away, no matter who or what they are. Also as a result of the pull, one can easily walk on vertical and unstable surfaces whilst utilizing the World's Pull. Possibly even water? Not sure.
Chronosphere - This herald has the ability to affect the time of objects and people around them. This can mean those affected become elderly and decrepit or literally infants depending on what the Herald wants. Unsurprisingly, the Herald themselves are "shackled" in time, both unaffected by the passing of it outside their chronosphere and what they do with it within.

I also assume most Heralds are granted superhuman abilities in the first place through their cosmic energy- Immortality, super strength, speed, healing factor etc. of course these aren't as strong as if their ability was specifically given. At least that's the vibe I got from Ignizio. I also assume as a result of not really being human at the point when they have these abilities, they also have an inherent immunity to the anti-super juice, though that's up to Comic. It's also possible the superpower boom wasn't really caused by internal factors of evolution but rather external factors through some sort alien influence or reverse Logan strategy, though who stands to benefit from doing that is highly debatable.

And honestly we are running out of powers to utilize lol. We already have almost all the standard ones, and a ton of nonstandard ones. The only generic one we are missing is like, super speed a la the Flash or Quicksilver.

i love all of this.
i love you burble.
you never disappoint.
but yeah, when it comes to the 'superhuman cure', it definitely won't affect all supers. the main purpose of it is to depower Patriot, so he'd be the main concern. side effects and usefulness is all an afterthought.

@BurbleBurble all vibes you received from Ignizio are absolutely spot-on, and those Herald powers are actually incredible. It would also definitely make for some unique cataclysms when the Heralds are eventually beaten and make their last-ditch attempt to further destroy the planet, i.e. Whitefrost's death causes a mini ice age, World's Pull leads to fluctuating gravitational patterns localized in a large chunk of another part of the earth, Silverbolt causes a thunderstorm that endangers literally everything it hits because how shocking, electricity hurts-

I especially like Whitefrost, since that Herald could be pretty much everything Blackfire isn't, not only power-wise but also personality-wise, which would make for some pretty fun interactions.

I have also updated Ignizio's backstory to fit the Herald plot; should give other people who are making Heralds something off of which to base a similar origin. If it doesn't align with what you have in mind @comic, feel free to let me know

Hmm, I added a power that Angel doesn't know she has yet, and it might be revealed in this battle. She can basically make it to where an ally cannot take damage for a bit, while she is channeling her power. She still cannot defend herself, so, uh, don't let your healer get hurt, but she can do that if it's allowed.

Just so y'all know, Massi currently looks like a hairless Wildmutt

images (8).png
This but pink and fleshy

So now what?

Larua runs off, now a dove, until his power wanes/expires (Do they expire over time?) Massi is here, and chowing down on a body. Shuzo is too and Yin Li is rapidly approaching. There's some threads we can pull from this though-

- Massi will probably escape to eat another day. But where to? Well maybe he somehow gets into the sewers, and is too afraid to surface again. Lucky for him, he stumbles onto a hidden homeless community- except unluckily, it's run by the king of trash, or maybe he runs into a shapeshifter alien or something of the sort. I dunno, still trying to put these guys in here.

- Paragons on the scene pull strings to somehow quickly indict both Sparkblade and Dove into the Paragons as perfectly legal supers. I know this one probably isn't going to happen because Shuzo seems very stubborn and would rather get shot by Yin Li than join up with the Paragons at the last minute, but it's kind of a funny plot point to at least consider no? I dunno if Dove would be opposed to it anymore than her being pacifist.

- Alex, Percival, Destiny meeting? Once again it reads like a recipe for disaster, not unlike the brief scuffle Infinity and Iratus had- But it also might be similar. Destiny plays mindgames, pissing both of them off, and then manipulates them into fighting one another? Let her use that Big Brain to do some entertaining stuff with a broski and a master manipulator I say.

Every other current plot thread is either self-contained or proceeding as planned.

Also glad y'all liked the herald ideas. I did have another about a herald who could make inanimate matter "living" by turning it into plant life or something of the like but with limited sentience? But now I think it's kind of dumb since the Herald's are prepping the planet for destruction, so...Man who even knows. Also the Chronosphere power could potentially solve the Patriot problem by turning back time until he doesn't have the powers, but that means they need to be close to Patriot without getting their shit kicked in, and once he's out of their range he would revert back to his standard self...Also he has a mysterious blackout on his past which seems to indicate something equally mysterious, so that's once again up to Comic.

May be late in saying this, but this is so useful lol. I miss your comprehensive breakdowns

Real Name: Skade
Alias: Herald of Whitefrost
Age/Gender: Unknown exact age- appears to be late 20s to early 30s. Female.
Race: Caucasian
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Personality: Skade finds humanity...weak. They crumble so easily. Fragile bones, muscle, flesh- breaking apart in moments. The tedium of hundreds of years, vaguely conscious, had left her utterly bored. The few who had travelled above her temple were often weak and cowardly. However, one day, after years of one-sided fights, one had managed to not immediately die. This had piqued her curiosity. Was humanity...changing? Evolving?
Ever since, she's become entranced by these changes. Skade still slaughters them, but there's now a desire in her heart. A desire for challenge, a desire for conflict and a great fight. She's become increasingly impulsive. Lead by cocky motivations of combat. Most civilians don't even get considered by her- after all, if you aren't "evolved", you pose no threat to her. And no threat? No challenge.
In short, she's fueled by violence, pure and simple.
Flaws: Extremely hotheaded and unwilling to reason. This of course means she can easily get in over her head if she underestimates her foe. She also disregards most every normal human, not really considering technology in any sort of way, so if you somehow have a powerful weapon but are otherwise human, she probably still won't look too much in your direction until she feels the pain.. Skade is also neutralized at incredibly high heats, as it would destroy the vapor in the air she needs to freeze.
Powers: Whitefrost- She can form ice at will, freezing the water vapor in the air with sub-zero temperatures. This ice, the whitefrost, is nigh unbreakable and unable to melt- and any who touch it learn that it too is incredibly cold. So cold, that a touch will likely make your hand- or limb of choice -become frozen immediately, and then likely break off. This effect fades over time, simply reducing to normal ice.
Backstory: During the superpower boom, Russia utilized the sudden boost in many soldiers to lay claim to several bordering territories they had long pursued. In the earliest stages of this, one ground troop had walked through a "hallowed ground". Said hallowed ground had routinely scored record cold temperatures, remaining consistent years on end. The earth itself was hardened and frost coated year round- chalked up to "odd weather phenomena". This location actually had a more ominous name with local villages- "devil's valley". Anyone who entered this wintry area would often disappear. Those found were in frozen chunks. It was unfortunate for them, as this location was actually a great trading route otherwise.

Needless to say, the Russian forces soon met a similar fate. Even empowered with new super abilities, they had soon disappeared beneath snow and earth, their remains scattered. Forces attempted to go through again and again, just to disappear all the same. Firebombing attempts were even tried- once again to no avail, the ice and snow actually intensifying in response. Eventually the Russians just decided that this was pointless. The story is told as either urban legend, something of a joke about Russia being stopped by a "snowy valley" of all things.

The answer is not so clean cut. Beneath the earth was a temple, where a herald who had been bored for a very long time realized that humanity had...changed. Evolved. These feeble creatures had begun growing into adversaries. And that was exciting.

She eagerly awaits whomever else wishes to enter the valley. It's been a good amount of time since anyone dared to step in...And Skade is beginning to feel impatient.
Still not sure how I feel about her but here's my Herald. She's a feisty one.

And thank you Shen, I like having things organized for my sake as well as everyone else's.

Sorry for disappearing for so long everyone, I was attending to other things and didn't have as much free time to log into the site. How has the fight with Laura gone since I left?
Ansel showed up and tried fighting Larua. Keyword tried, Larua just no selled all the attacks. Then Massi and Shuzo showed up and Larua began flying away as a dove (copying Dove's power), now Samuel is giving chase by telekinetically flying. Yin Li is on the way to the scene too

Sorry to double post, but who are we waiting on?

I guess I can squeak out an Ansel post, but we need @comic for Yin Li and/or Patriot (and the mystery girl, who is less relevant to the current plot) @Gamingfan for Massi, @The Alright Attorney for Alan's response to Ansel, even if it's sort of irrelevant at this point. Annnd @Shadow_Pup for Larua, but this would be a more recent response.

Everyone else is fine I think? @ThePlayfulFox can choose to help Sam chase Larua or help the newcomers fend off Massi somehow. I think the former is more interesting but I dunno.

The orphan duo and Kerco are a thing too, but as I said, nonessential to the main plot at hand.

Sorry for all the @s. Just trying to make sure this doesn't die and get sweet dopamine hits from the alerts but shhhh
