Hello hello! This RP starts off in the fictional seawall city of Corsaire-de-Milo in Kalos, based on the beautiful real life French city, Saint-Malo. Once we've got everyone who's joining on board, we'll be setting sail to the bowtie-shaped Laurel Region, based loosley on semi-modern day Italy. East Laurel is for the most part conflict free. West Laurel, however, is subject to war with chaos-driven extremists, otherwise known as Team Peregrine. Their motives aren't for power, nor domination. Rather, they seem to be hellbent on destruction by each individual's own accord. Their numbers are baffling, especially considering the fact that they don't seem to have any collective goals or ideals as a team.
Main Story Elements:
A year before present day, the esteemed East Laurel-born pirate captain Marcel O'Bithel took the words of a dear old friend to heart, and finally parted ways for good with her old crew of two, Curtis "Dune" Lowry, and Kaia "Papillon-Rouge" Madrigal. Collectively, the pirates were known as "Silvikitte," which oh-so conveniently is also the name of the boat. What soured their relationship is unknown, save for the captain's sudden change of heart and morale, and her newfound ambition to use what she has available to fight in the people's war against Peregrine. The Pokemon she'd largely been known to use are no longer with her, either left behind with Dune and Kaia, or sent wayward without much other information granted to the public. Her current crew consists of Helia, a wise-cracking, charmingly awkward Braixen who speaks the human language, Oscar, a puny but excitable Poliwag, and Berard, a one-eyed, gruff and wise, but haplessly shy Butterfree. However, that's not nearly enough to put even a dent in what they're up against, so with nostalgia ruling her decision, she's returned to the ever-diverse Kalos region to build a new crew.
Other Information and Rules:
1. No one sentence replies. I will get on your ass so quickly if I see this consistently. I understand that with dialogue, it's sometimes hard to crank out more than a paragraph, but for real. Describe the setting, describe feelings, and don't make me get mad at you over short replies.
2. If you want an image of what Silvikitte looks like, look up Étoile du Roy, of which the inspiration for it was born.
3. By all means, fear death, but don't be afraid to incorporate it into your writing. We want this to be juicy, with all kinds of feely-feels and real-ass people.
4. The Silvikitte crew has always relied on clever trickery to prevail in close scrapes. Your Pokemon don't have to be top-tier or even fully evolved to be kickass. You'll start with up to three Pokemon of your choice, with potential to catch more along the way, and while NFE's aren't mandatory, they're thoroughly encouraged.
5. In the event of battles, don't just shout out moves. Describe the actions and movements that Pokemon and people are taking.
6. That's right, people may very well end up fighting too. We're pirates, and we're not just gonna hide behind our Mightyenas and Manectrics while shit hits the fan all around us.
7. The captain's surely not too picky in her recruitment, but she wants to be interested. Your character doesn't have to be outgoing. In fact, she loves the shy and/or reserved type, at least until she can crack their code. Long story short, no plain ol' Mary-Sue is gonna catch her interest. Silvikitte only has room for so many people and Pokemon after all.
8. Spending months to years aboard a cramped pirate ship means that romance may or may not be inevitable. This RP's already gonna have some pretty adult themes in it, but anything super sexual is gonna be awkward. That said, I'm not gonna be the one to snuff out the creative fires of young love. (That's what the mods are for :^) jk luv u guys) Just be subtle, and don't break any forum rules.
9. Oh yeah, adult themes. Violence, gore, and swearing are all gonna happen probably. If you're below the age of sixteen, or eighteen, or however old you think is too young, then do yourself a real big favor and sit this one out.
10. Helia speaks English, and almost functions as a second character. This is a rarity in the Pokemon world, but if you absolutely must have a Pokemon who can communicate with your character, you'd better impress me with a really good reason why.
11. Forgot to mention, no godmoding. We're up against some pretty powerful forces. Don't be afraid to let your character get hurt or lose a fight.
Character Skeleton Format Example:
Name: Marcelline "Marcel" O'Bithel
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Pansexual
Personality: While she'd normally be jovial and sardonic, the emotions of leaving her crew behind are still taking their toll, though that's nothing that new friends can't fix, so long as she can muster up the motivation to go meet people. Melancholic or not, she can often be borderline poetic with her words, and prides herself on her talents in reading people.
History: Everything you've read above.
Appearance: Standing at about 5'3'', about half a dozen freckles dot either of her cheeks, while her thick, somewhat curly hair, with the tawny fairness of a lion's mane, stops just a couple of inches past her shoulders, though she almost always wears it in a ponytail. A cerulean blue tunic of sorts hangs loosely from her shoulders, revealing a gray vest that's been swirled with vivid patterns of yellow underneath. When she was younger, she wore an orange bandanna around her forehead because she thought it looked cool. Evidently she hasn't matured much, because she still does.
Pokemon: Helia the Braixen, Oscar the Poliwag, and Berard the Butterfree
Anything Else Worth Mentioning: She's helplessly nostalgic for a school trip to Kalos that happened back when she was still in high. Despite the fact that the other five on that trip, who were all seniors at that time, had all moved on when she was just a freshman, she still remembers them all fondly, and has written their descriptions in her notebook over and over again to remember. Also, she carries a simple rapier at her side, and has learned from many a battle how to wield it.
Pokemon Character Skeleton Examples:
Name: Helia
Species: Braixen
Personality: Charismatic, but still inexplicably awkward at the same time. Despite her overly-theatrical, cloak-and-dagger nature, she has wisdom for her years, and isn't afraid to be bold or blunt with Marcel.
History: Bred into the family of a Kalosian artist, her trainer sought to become a painter, yet still preserve his hipster values. While he was way too cringey for Helia to grow all that close to, his interest in language rubbed off on her, and from the time she was a Fennekin, she was expected to learn human language. When Marcel's bad-news old crew crashed an art show, she stowed away on their ship, tired of her trainer and refined life, and she and the captain soon grew to respect one another.
Anything Else Worth Mentioning: She wears a deep purple bandanna around her ears like a pirate's head scarf.
Name: Oscar
Species: Poliwag
Personality: Thoroughly excitable, and a tad bit naive, don't let his puny stature fool you. He's a great swimmer, with a sharp mind, and a battle style based on taunts and trickery.
History: He too stowed away atop Silvikitte from the wild one day, and Marcel thought he was too cute not to keep.
Anything Else Worth Mentioning: He's fairly mild-mannered a fair bit of the time, and is the youngest of the crew.
Name: Berard
Species: Butterfree
Personality: Gruff and blunt, with the smarts to back himself up, but the pacifistic, kindhearted nature to back down. While logical, he's still incredibly shy and secretive. Battle-wise, he's somewhat of a veteran, with the speed and skill to rival any.
History: Largely unknown to any but him and Dune, minus the fact that he resonated with Marcel's new ideals the second they were announced to the group. Without a second thought, he left the loose-cannon Dune behind to join Marcel's new crew.
Anything Else Worth Mentioning: He's missing his right eye. As to how this happened is a tale that only he knows, and has no inclination to share.

And that's that! Plop your character submissions into this thread at your leisure, and I'll make the real thread when I get enough people on board. I warn you, I'm a little finicky when it comes to writing. Like I said, Mary Sues are gonna rub me the wrong way, and bad grammar appeals to no one here. Don't sweat it though, just follow the general and RP rules, and you'll be fine!
*EDIT*
Oh, and another important something-or-other I forgot to mention, as part of the Laurel region's culture, Pokeballs are practically nonexistent in the routines of a trainer. They treat their Pokemon as utmost family, and leave them out always. In fact, most trainers, including Marcel, don't even have their Pokemon technically "caught" in Pokeballs. I mentioned before that you'll have the chance to expand on your team. Well, don't think of your six Pokemon as a team or a party, think of them as individual members in the collective pool of characters in the Silvikitte crew. You won't be catching Pokemon with Pokeballs, but rather enticing them to join you aboard the ship.
